I don't want to be a red rank. The game insists I'm a red rank and won't let me go. Even despite dropping from 2 to 5 recently after enough games I'm back to 4.
It's not a game where it's like "you play at this skill level so play with others at this skill level." This game is "you are going to play with people so much better than you, learn or suffer."
And it's so rude and frustrating and you can try your best and still have a bad time due to a million factors outside of your control. You can be mega proud of having done a long chase against a good killer, then have it all shat on by a killer who camps you or team mates that will let you go from first hook to death. Like "wow I'm really trying to get better but with all these cut throat try hards I'm outmatched in every way and it shows."
It's very easy to get tilted. I come looking for a good time, but all I end up with is a mandatory competitive mode where the game expects me to git gud or get off the ride.
I much prefer green ranks. Nobody is top tier minmaxing mind games with full meta builds. They are just playing and there's so much more room for mistakes. It feels far more relaxed and even if a game doesn't go my way I can say I still had a decent time and some small victories along the match.
So yeah I can see why people are made of salt at red ranks. It's a ######### experience if you didn't want to be there. It's the weirdest elo hell that actually exists.
I've considered making a smurf account just so I can go back to having fun. But that's stupid, I'd just rather take a break. So that's what I'm doing. Still reading the forums though.
-
I dodged him 4 times in a row and every time I tried to crush him I would lose the crush bar in that final pixel of health. Then I finally got downed by him.
Maximum over tilt.

Hm. You're making me wonder about a StarStruck/Infectious Fright/Pop/Stridor build with Spirit. Throw on an amulet and mother-daughter ring and we're all gonna have a real bad time.

Man sometimes I get frame dips out of nowhere and I'm running a Nvidia 3080 and 3900x.

I feel your pain as a fellow Solo queue survivor. It`s just been hell today. The level of camping and tunneling has been asinine. You would think a Rank 1 hillbilly wouldn`t need to camp his first hook at 5 gens, but there he was.
Then the Wraith of course, because all Wraiths camp in my personal experience. I even said to my partner who was watching as I was going for a hook save; " Whelp, it's a Wraith. And if I know my Wraiths, he'll be cloaked right behind that wall, just steps from the hook". *Bing Bong** and my partner cracked up.
Then just now when I gave up playing for the evening, I had to deal with a Steve running along side a Spirit, pointing at me. So they were both chasing me, working together. I realized how much I hate the new second stage hook struggle because I couldnt kill myself to get out of the damn match. Then the Spirit stopped hooking me and left me slugged so she and Steve could pick off the Meg, and Grandpa decided to take the penalty and disconnected.
So I fell 2 ranks. Remind me not to play at night when the teenage sociopaths are staying up late until their Mom yells at them to go to bed lol.
Had a nurse who killed everyone but me. One person was on struggle and she had just picked me up. I started wiggling to which she dropped me and shook her head 'No' then swung her weapon and picked me up again. I thought it meant she was gonna give me a hatch.
We sat and waited while she just stared at the person struggle. They died all the way, the nurse walked all around the map to find the hatch just to drop me again and closed it. Then put me on the hook.
#########' psycho yo.

I play Spirit when I want to actually feel good instead of getting t-bagged to ######### after failing chases on Pig. I'm not good at this game, but Spirit makes me feel like I'm actually a killer.

What you can do is play killer a bit even if you are rank 20 with no perk the change of pace can help you.
Or just play another game i heard civ 5 is a good game
I need to catch up on FFXIV, probably a good time for that.

@bibibib8 said:
You must have done nothing in your game because depiping is extremly hard. I can do a gen, a bone and 1 rescue and most of the time i will get a black pip just for that now add the chase and heal and you will pip even if you die if you escape its close to a 2 pip.
The only way i depip as a survivor is when i face an afk wraith or any other killer who afk
Pretty much feels that way.
-
@Yords said:
So is your definition of fun in this game only escaping?
Clearly it's not only escaping that's the problem if I'm depipping constantly. My entire games are having a bad time. I'm getting ripped out of the game before I have time to do anything meaningful enough to not even safety pip. If it's a good game it's a good game, but I'm not having good games. I'm having these nightmare matches where it seems no matter how hard I try I get a few bloodpoints for my troubles and a derank.
-
There is no way someone went that deep into the audiophile train just to play stridor spirit.
I don't doubt you went against someone that had those headphones with a good amp+dac and all that jazz, but there are tremendous diminishing returns at that level.
The amount of improvement been a $20 set of cans and $200 are so much bigger than comparing $200 to $2000. I'm not saying there isn't a benefit especially to the trained ear, but you're really overstating it.
You don't become a god just because you can hear a whimper.

The Executioner didn't trick the OP into running through his Rites of Judgement; he didn't hide it behind a corner or in the tall grass. The Executioner straight up dropped him onto it and forced it.
I mean we can't know that didn't happen. History doesn't treat the losers in war fairly.

Using the videos linked above I just recorded the audio and slapped it together in something easier to playback side by side. First one is from the Otz video second is from the DBD trailer.

The other day after everyone escaped the killer made a comment about "Oh man I get so flustered when going against a SWF."
I blinked, "What? I don't know these #########."
We just played well so they assumed it was a 4-man SWF. To be fair a total random DID give me a flashlight save. I wonder how often people aren't SWF but are accused of it because they play really well.

I always thought ghost face was kind of OP but this week I've been trying really really hard to get better at looping and just general pallet usage and I went against a ghost face recently that was like "Huh... was he always this easy?"

Play dirty. At best the survivors will understand, at worst they'll complain. You can close chat to not even get that toxicity. If I have 0-2 hook states on two gens complete I'll switch to 'toxic dirty killer mode' and have no shame. They're clearly better than me and I need to salvage what I can.

I haven't heard of this site before, but I'm trying to use it. Is there a way to see how I rank compared to others? I just see stats about my games but nothing comparing me to others.

*Possible RE8 spoilers*
I just killed her in RE8. I play games kind of fast but her and her daughters were completely dead within a little over 2 hours? Most of those scenes involved watching her voyeuristically from random places while she walked around and seemed unable to hear or see you despite you being right there. (She stares directly at you in a mirror then walks away crying about not being able to find 'ETHAN WINTERS') Even her boss battle seemed kind of weird because she was ranting and raving as if she and you had some long held grudge and rivalry and it's like "I've physically interacted with you for a grand total of 45 seconds up until this point."
Except for her waifu fad status she really isn't that iconic. She's on screen just enough to choke you out twice and smile while you stare down at her tits.

I had a game a few days ago where I had 8 hook states with no sacrifices by their second generator complete. Then I went into the basement and just hung out there while watching a DBD streamer play Resident Evil 0. After 10 minutes I was like "They still have 1 gen left what the hell are they even doing?"
I finally came up to the surface and I still don't know, they were trying to hide from me poorly and ran from me without being very good at it. I just started hitting all of them until they were injured then went back into my basement. Took 2 minutes for them to fully recover and another 5 minutes to finish that last gen.
I had to open the gate for them to get them the hell out.
As a survivor I've had team mates like that, not a good feeling.
-
Yeah fight against me when I'm spirit. I promise you you'll probably make a god damn fool out of me.
-
"My team mates are going to tap into their ancient monkey brain and be REALLY STUPID today."
Still remembering telling my friend "Don't vault through the window!" They leapt through the window and got hit by a trap.
"I just TOLD you not to use the window."
"I didn't think you meant THAT window!"
"The tile only has one window!"
I free them, we start running they shout "That pallet is trapped."
"What pallet?"
*SPRING!*
-
16 seconds to heal, it's basically good to get hit once, lose the killer, get healed. That's it?
-
I'm only here for Pyramid Daddy. Eventually I'll stop being so thirsty and chase other scary men.

That is a very interesting way of saying that we are all horny bastards.
Hey Daddy Freddy can you pinch me? I must be dreaming. ♥

I absolutely consider it a win.
Sometimes it's a win even if I die because my play made sure others get out.
Sometimes it's a win if others die and I manage to get a hatch.
A win is a win, if I don't get sacrificed or any survivor escaped it's a win in some small or big way. Sometimes just getting to that hatch with a key is an entire trial in of itself. I've had some very very close games where one wrong move would be the difference between death and keying out. Sure it's a 'loss' in that we didn't leave out the main gate, but it's a win in that we left with something anyways.
If I had fun, if something happened that got my blood pumping or we had something to get hype over it's a win really. So yes a key escape absolutely counts.
The killer can beat their chest all day and scream to high heavens that they actually were the real winner because we couldn't have won without the key but the terms of victory are a sliding scale.
"You only won because you tunneled." "You only won because you had dead hard." "You only won because you were on spirit." "You only won because you found a key." People will always find some way to pat themselves on the back and decide "I'm the real winner." Hell my entire post is saying I do it too. There's no real 'fair' way to win because if someone lost they're bitter, if someone won they're going to defend that win.
-
We as humans are so very horny, all the time. We try so hard to be civilized and to be fair we do a good job of it, but the thirst it never goes away, we just learn to live with it and indulge in small ways throughout our day. We sexualize everything, turn every monster or inanimate object into a waifu or find anyway to overlook someone or somethings flaws by finding one article of inspired hotness.
At the end of the day we are simple monkeys, brains programmed to see nice ass wherever we go. Constantly on the hunt for booty. DBD has no shortage of cake or any other trifles for us to go into a heated horny frenzy over.

Ho boy do I have evidence. I'll have to compile it and upload it, but yeah absolutely.
It's strange because I was testing it in KYF and I found a system that 100% let me break when a friend healed. Then I got into a live game and suddenly all my certainty that I had it right was gone as I was anchored in place.
-
Back when I was a ######### looper and bad at being chased I would often teabag and beckon if I managed to pull off one good moment or pallet stun. Like 70% of the time they would turn around and ######### with someone else (green ranks.) That was my bluff that often paid off. They would then respect my pallets a lot more or make plays as if I were good. I had ran into a killer once because I was stupid, he 180'd and swung into air because he thought I was setting up a dead hard. No I was just dumb.
Alternatively if you get someone to commit to you and you're kicking their ass (now that I'm better) it gets them to overcommit to you sometimes. (Red ranks)
Getting a killer to respect your skill even if you don't have it can change games tremendously and taunting can instill that respect. It can also instil ire but that's the risk you take.
-
Cheryl gets to go free. If there is no Cheryl it depends on how toxic I was. If I was being a total ######### bag I'll give hatch to even the score, if I played a clean game everyone dies.
-
Bottle your rage. Get a piece of paper and every time a survivor tries to bully you put a tally mark. Then when you finally get good enough to be in charge use those tally marks to justify your rage. Become the nurse in body and mind.
If you'd like you can even start using it as a currency. Every time you deliberately camp or tunnel, erase a tally, every time you slug someone to death erase a tally, if you decide not to give someone hatch at the end erase one too.
It'll give you something to look forward to. Weaponize that fury.
-
I'm all about that magical girl Heather personally.
-
I was working on a doppelganger story concept and this was my favorite one.
Hex: Supervision
Years of catching students passing notes and cheating on tests have given you a sixth sense for when people are trying to get one over on you.
Any survivor aura shared with each other is now shared with you if greater than 28/20/16 meters away. This does not apply to auras generated by a dying state. (Or hook state. One or the other, can't decide which would make more sense. Maybe doesn't apply to hook state to have bbq synergy.)
"It's like she has eyes on the back of her head."
-
I'd say Susie, it seems like she was the good girl of the crew who in a tragic act of malice from a charismatic leader was forced to sharing the kill of a random who forever cursed her. It was a tense moment, things got super real incredibly fast and she was told she had to do it. I mean yo if three people said I had to stab a dude or become an unreliable loose end (After they already showed a willingness to murder) I'd stab a dude, that's fear, panic and self preservation.
Instead of being able to walk away, simply tormented by the horrible act they'd done but still try to move on from it or even accept blame down the line she ended up in the fog. Now she has to forever chase survivors and have that one act of adrenaline fueled panic define her as she sacrifices person after person after person who kick struggle beg and scream to be spared while a dark force compels her against her will (Just like the first murder.)
Talk about hell.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/246128/should-swf-be-nerfed
No, they don't need to be Nerfed. What needs to happen is Solo and Team need to be separated into different Queues. The Killer fighting against a SWF needs a 5th Perk Slot opened up, only available in these Team Matches to offset the SWF's 5th Perk (Comms). This should be tested for a bit to see if it is enough; it might be. If not, another objective, i.e. a 6th Generator can be added for SWF teams.
*Even if they didn't break the Queues apart, they could simply set the system to give the Killer the 5th Perk Slot whenever 3+ people enter from a Team Lobby. Problem solved.
I like where your head is at but I think instead of punishing people for being in SWF they should reward people for solo or duo queues. Give survivors doing solo's or duo's a 5th 'aura' perk slot.
-
Once I watched a game where I managed to 3k give one a hatch. It was interesting to watch them go against me because I played toxic as hell. I think they had 2 gens done and I didn't even get a single hookstate or something like that, I tunneled the absolute hell out of one, ate the decisive, just got him out of the game.
Then I made a real nasty 3 gen and played super defensive, the game took like 30 minutes.
It was interesting watching them and their perspective. We talked, I apologized, "Yo matchmaking was playing a dirty game with me you four were WAY out of my league and being a dick was the only way I could even get a single kill. I didn't expect it to snowball like that."
They invited me to play survivor with them later. I never took them on it but I kinda wish I did.

Booping the snoot doesn't work ;-; I'd say of the last 10 pigs I faced only 1 actually was kinder for it, the other 9 just seemed to take it as a form of mockery and I regularly get tunneled out first.
It's very sad. Sometimes in post game I'll get excited about being able to boop them, I mostly get a neutral comment like "So you did."
It's fine with me though, I boop it not for the pig but for my own satisfaction. I got what I came for, the hook doesn't undo the boop.

The other day I dropped a pallet, the killer got hit by it, I went down. No stun on the killer at all despite getting pushed back by the pallet. He just went through his lunge cooldown animation like nothing happened.
