  • IMO, it's entirely possible to not be a main.

Mains, IMO, play one role the overwhelming majority of the time and likely do not appreciate being on the other side.
  • Well, judging by the response I got from a mod about survivors idling at the exit gate, no.

Being stubborn, and/or not playing the game aren't bannable.
You can't be reported for not killing people.
  • Can we talk ambiance music?
When I first heard this one, I thought it was some party room full of dead teens because it was at the school:
    https://youtu.be/7QjtZget9Gw
  • The thrill of the hunt, the chase, the hits, the powers. Not so much the hooking, but I need blood points.
The chaos of what survivors will do.
To put together builds with the limited perks I have, and aim for other builds.

To see what survivors wear. To look stylish.

All in all, I want to try and give, and get an enjoyable, fair match. Sadly this goal is the most denied to me.

Because the only people that can make alternatives are the devs. I think they gave up after Bbq and chili, and the emblem penalty was added for camping.

Yeah that's what I'm suggesting. Let the devs make alternatives.

Survivors won't cooperate, and I can't imagine what could be done to give the killer more benefit than a sacrifice. They will abuse anything they can tk hurt the killer in general.

Your idea is not that great. It punishes killers because they can't stop a survivor from unhooking their buddy because they would be penalized for being that close.
It's basically asking for free unhooks.

What's wrong with free unhooks? The best part of the game is the chases. Why not encourage more chases? My idea would do exactly that.

The main time, imo, for camping is when the generators are done.
There is just a massive, gaping safety zone created once the gates are open where most killers are completely powerless to stop a survivor from escaping.
If they let the survivor get unhooked, there's basically not much they can do to stop them unless there is a chase half way across the map.
That said, a killer would be crazy, or nice to not guard the hook.

I agree with you here. Let the killers camp when gens are done. Other survivors can decide whether to help their friend or ditch em. My idea would still make this a valid tactic.

Because chases don't work well in getting me blood points.
I do agree, though. The hunt, chases, and hits are the more fun parts. If I could get by without hooking anyone again, I'd be glad. Problem is, I can't.
Of course I'm not mean enough to want to just slug people. At least not all of them at once.

Can't say your suggestion would help. Can't keep punishing killers. Hooks, and sacrifices are their major source for points.
Reward them for making the game fun.
Reward survivors for making the game fun.
Encourage longer, more action packed matches.
Part of the reason people score low is that scoring revolves around interaction between the two sides and if someone gen rushes, or blasts through survivors they don't have the time to earn more points.
  • Neat quizzes! The questions and answers are well done as not to be completely transparent as to the end result, imo.

I like personality quizzes. Even though I don't always get who I'd want/expect. Haha

Wraith | Which Dead by daylight Killer are you?
You are the wraith, you are quiet and prefer to be alone sometimes, you like to have your own space and power and low profile, a little bit of attention wouldn't hurt though, but you still like peace and silence.

Jake | Dead by daylight which Survivor are you?
Jake is for you, you think of yourself as a handy individual, you are calm and quiet and you like the things around you peaceful, you love nature and everything doing its innocent ways. You sometimes push yourself to the limits, but not all the time, if you are stressed then ask Trapper, he went through the same thing.
  • Record if you can, then report them.
  • Get headphones. When phasing you will be relying on seeing scratch Mark's, and hearing people.

If you play Legion, it's like the opposite of their frenzy.
  • Well thanks,
Now i can't get Michael Myers humping a Pig out of my head.
And all those muffled grunts as pig gets porked.
  • Yes. When a sound Robbies us of stealth, it's a Rotten thing.

  • Slug meta is back?

Or were hooks being destroyed, or something?
  • Wouldn't happen if they didn't treat killers like the castle guards in England, I guess. :p

"Hey, the trapper. He ain't moving. ... stick your finger up his butt!"

"Hey, this hag ain't moving... poke her boob... no, not that one, the one hanging out."

Might have accidentally tapped the post key more than once. I just did that, too.
    Edited my extra post, though.
  • People make up rules so they can win, and goad the other team into playing by them.
  • This problem could basically go away if the devs would make a "GIT OFFA MAH LAWN!" button for killers that simulates all non sacrificed survivors escaping immediately through the gate.

    How bad would that be?
  • Skull #########. Yay.

In another thread about the same topic @Peanits stated the same, it's not reportable if you don't want to do anything and just wait.
Me letting them taking the game hostage doesn't neglect that they are in fact taking the game hostage. Which is reportable.
Keyword there is let. It is only holding the game hostage if you literally cannot end the match, but here you could just by chasing them.

What you're saying is not bannable. It's be like if the survivors all his in corners instead of fixing generators and then reported you for not killing them. It's be ridiculous. Mutual stubbornness is not a bannable offense.
How survivor sided this response is leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
This is basically letting survivors switch from playing the game to practically griefing with zero repercussions.
As soon as they have no one to rescue, all that's left is escape as an objective. If they do not take that, they have basically stopped playing the game.

Most killers absolutely cannot compete any more objectives at this point as the survivors are in a safe zone where most killers are powerless. They have no more objectives as they cannot down a survivor unless that survivor lets them. Hence "just chase them out" because that's about all the powerless killer can do.

The way I see it, it's "not bannable" because it's so rampant, and survivors must be protected.
Allowed to have their fun until the end game is reworked.
Killers must suffer because, well, screw killers, basically.
If it were bannable, it would practically be survivor genocide.
If you take that as survivor sided, that's on you. I even mentioned the survivor equivalent. We're not going to ban people because you decided not to play, that would be ridiculous.

It is only holding the game hostage if you literally cannot end the game, regardless of the side you're playing. If you decide to sit around and roast marshmallows and not force them out, you are not trying to end the game and so they are not holding the game hostage.
I take it that way because it promotes toxic behavior and the killer can't do anything but protest away from the gate, or give in, and do what the survivors want.
How that's not obviously raw deal is beyond my comprehension.
It's one of the peaks of survivor entitlement.

What you presented is not an equivalent, though.
The killer is in no way preventing the end of the game either in not chasing out survivors, or not killing them.
Infact it's more encouragement for the survivors to leave without feeding the toxic behavior and being more of a victim of it.
They are in no way threatening the survivors.
Infact most killers aren't a threat at all at that point. They litterally cannot prevent survivors from escaping once in the safe zone of the gate.

Even in your example, the worst the killer is doing is letting the survivors go. Sitting there, unless they're pinning a survivor in the corner, or blocking the stairs in the basement is not preventing the end of the game.

Survivors not exiting is keeping the game going though.
The killer cannot escape from a match until the survivors are gone.

The killer is not at all necessary to end the game. The fate of the survivors is key.
  • The killer with it could be the worm from galaxy of terror. Haha

But yeah, it's silly, but I wouldn't be mad if it were added.

If it were a viable source of points to inflict then it could definitely beat out the desire to sacrifice everyone, thus defeat tunneling, and camping.
Heck, if it's fun enough, and gives enough points the killer might be inclined to not feel too bad about letting them escape.
  • Well, the first major mechanic is the fact that he doesn't really run around killing people.
Like some of the best of killers, he has rules.

He must be summoned by use of the puzzle box.

He doesn't necessarily go after who opened it because it requires desire to open the box. If the person that desires the box open isn't the person that opens it, he goes after the person with the desire instead.

Unless a survivor finds the puzzle box, essentially knows what it is, desires it opened, and has it opened, pinhead would not be summoned in the first place. That means pinhead would just be a puzzle box sitting somewhere while survivors try to eacape.

He usually goes after extremely hedonistic people, too. None of the survivors fit the bill too well.
He is way more reasonable than most killers since he can be bargained with.

I don't see him working, realistically. The rules don't support him being a killer too well.

If he does happen to appear, I imagine he would walk slowly, and snipe people with chains, or telepathically hurl things at people.
His mori would either be ripping the flesh off a person, or turning them into a cinobite with hellish machinery which would lead to some, hopefully neat custom moris.

If it were Frank, or whazzername trying to escape, and get their flesh back maybe?

I love the first halfish of the hellraiser series of movies.
  • With limited hatch spawn locations you could basically memorize about where every hatch spawn is, though, no?

Definitely not fun, but sometimes it's necessary. I hate it on both sides (though the more time they camp me, the mor time I buy for the rest. If they aren't dumb, they will be actively doing something.) but I won't say it needs to go.

What are they going to do? Let you get unhooked and run straight out the exit?

Killers need points, too, and letting you go is detrimental to getting them.

If you hate it, then why not look for alternatives. The game could be rebalanced in a way that stops camping from being a meta tactic, so that killers no longer need to do it to get points. With what I proposed, camping would still be a valid tactic for finding survivors, but once you see one it'd be beneficial to actually chase them instead of tunnelling the already hooked person.

Because the only people that can make alternatives are the devs. I think they gave up after Bbq and chili, and the emblem penalty was added for camping.

That said, a killer would be crazy, or nice to not guard the hook.

Most times people swarm the hook to get rescues, or trades and that just rewards the killer for staying near the hook.
Most seem to rather want to exploit that than anything.

All in all, there isn't much that's more rewarding to most killers than making sure someone gets sacrificed.

  • Definitely not fun, but sometimes it's necessary. I hate it on both sides (though the more time they camp me, the mor time I buy for the rest. If they aren't dumb, they will be actively doing something.) but I won't say it needs to go.

You're just being a sore loser. Go smack them and get some extra BP and stop complaining. If they aren't just hiding around the map, it isnt holding hostage.

I dont usually tell Killers they are complaining about non issues, but this is a non issue

Well @peanits is mostly a killer and from what I've seen he's incredibly unbaised.

All you have to do is walk towards the gate I don't get why there's so many people that find that offensive, you just hold W and the match is over, but you'd rather sit around for an hour and then moan on a forum, I've seen these posts a few times now it's ridiculous.

Doesn't matter if he's a killer player, survivor player, or both. This response is overwhelmingly in favor of letting survivors grief. There is no way around it.

All the survivors have to do is walk out the gate. They don't even have to push the attack button, or worry a out being juked, or blinded, or whatever. But they don't. They wait to be toxic. They know that they're unstoppable.
And killers are damned either way. Either feed the survivors,o r stay away and let them feel whatever they want.
At least killers can protest by not giving in. Let survivors waste their time. We will do something else.

The fact they wait to long is ridiculous.

They often do not deserve what ever they want from waiting at the gate. We're tired of giving it. We will not anymore.

The whole "We're getting one over them" mentality is hilarious, I'm sure they've left to do something as well.

and while yes I agree that they could walk out too, why should they? It's both stubborness it's the same situation with the hatch, why should either side do anything.

I've caught so many cocky survivors in exit gates that I'm glad they sit and wait for me to hold W as I might catch one out.

I can't believe I'm arguing with a rank 15 killer about this though, lmao.

Why would they? The escape points, and the points they could have gotten being in another trial for however long they waited. They get way more than the killer ever will.
    To not be dicks.

There's no way to stop a survivor from escaping unless you can down them in one hit, or mori them on the spot. They would have to let you kill them, basically.
Your bravado? It gives me stomachs pains... because I don't give a #########.

If you didn't want to argue, you didn't have to say anything to me.

  • Gen rushing is basically the point where survivors do gens so fast the killer doesn't have time to do much to stop them. It's thoroughly unfun for the killer unless they run an end game build, and severely limits what they can do, and how much they can score.
It also often leads to camping.

There's not a whole lot of perks killers can run to effectively stop a gen rush outside of Ruin, which can end up destroyed almost instantly which is largely up to RNG, how well survivors memorize totem locations, and/or run small game/detective's hunch.

Everything else requires time, and in the span of a chase, determined survivors can hit up 2 to 3, or even 4 gens which means to stop a gen rush, you need to slow them down immediately.

It only takes 80 seconds to do a gen with nothing speeding them up, and most times survivors spawn within seconds of getting to one.
  • Part of the reason people get such low points is they end the game too quickly, imo.

Can't score if you don't give yourself time to.

Gen rushing, snorting up kills, the less you do, the less you score.

  • I don't see a real point to feeding the ego of these survivors by hitting them out. Especially if you can entertain yourself while waiting for them to leave.

Unless you have a one hit down build, or they're injured, anyone who thinks about it a second knows they're absolutely safe.
Even with a one hit down build they can just flop through the gate rooms end.

Devs need to fix end game.

All this shows your ignorance to generalize, I've never been a dick with the killers, even when the killer could not do anything I give him points to at least take something .. Oh and you do not read the patch notes? How do killers have no tools to play against a swf? Iridiscent head, Judith's tombstone, Infinite EW3, Frank's mixtape, Clown Instadown bottles and ebony mori ...? Survivor only have Decisive Strike, Adrenaline, Unbreakable, exhaustion perk (That are crap now), Instaheals and purple toolboxes..? that you're blind and do not know how to read patch notes is something else :) Killers are getting a lot of buff's and they still refuse to play against people with flashlight's..

You do notice that every killer solution you listed is a one time use, expensive item that can only be gotten at random, right?

I don't have many, or any of a lot of that, personally.

Meanwhile your survivors list includes perks that can be used many times, and stuff they keep if they eacape the trial. Not all items listed but most.

And for an example, Why on earth would I want to vs some dick that will flashlight blind me at every pallet? Especially when I don't even have lightborn as a teachable?

I mean I don't really dodge flashlights. Only thing I don't want to face is an SWF.

Hmm, winter solstice boxes give me 30 ebony moris on my legion and 27 iridiscent hatche's on my huntress ;) Iridiscent hatchet is like ds they can be used in all the game.. Killers have noed too.. DS can be used 1 time, Adrenaline can be used 1 time, Unbreakable can be used 1 time.. Exhaustion perks can be used all the game (like make your choice or discordance), survivor items can be countered if you equip franklin's demise or overwhelming presence.. So why you chase all the game the guy with the flashlight? If you never want a face to a swf you will never learn from your mistakes and you will be a killer baby ;) so I thought before.

And I played through winter solstice. I didn't get ######### from those boxes.
Like I said, I lack, or don't have a lot of those things.
Iridescent heads are one time use items.

And let's see how long your supply lasts when you use them for every game.
It looks different when you stockpile them, and use bloodpoints from matches with other characters.

DS, and the rest can be used once in every match with no upkeep costs.
Imagine if Adrenaline or DS was an ultra rare 7k blood point offering instead of a perk?

Guess what? I don't have overwhelming presence, or Franklin's as teachable. Your advice is useless.

Ok so you don't chase the guy with a flashlight every trial. What happens when there's 2, 3 or 4 people doing that tactic, and you don't have Franklin's or Overwhelming presence?

Nice jab at my ego. Lol. I don't really give a damn what you think about me.
I'll especially dodge your ass if I see you. Lawl enjoy the longer lobby wait times.

Potato killer detected, for this the game is dying, I think it's time to move to last year ;), It's not my problem if you dont have that perks as teachable, it's your problem so dont complain about flashlight, they can be easy countered, just look at the wall or scare the flashlight guy and pick em up..

Can't look away breaking the pallet. Or vaulting.
Didn't say anything about while picking people up, or such.

I'll complain as much as I like.

Why are you complaining and threatening to leave if you don't like complaining?
Sounds like me complaining is your problem.

This is a consequence of survivors being dicks and the Dev's not giving killers the tools for counterplay to common second chance tactics. If survivors dont want to be dodged, stop being dicks and Dev's fix your game.

  • I wish there was a way to implement that the solo players can see it while people who have others in the party still in the game will have to wait... maybe when dedicated servers come they can do this?
3 man swf loads into lobby.
4th man pops up. Gets a chat invite.
4th man gets sandbagged subtly. Dies. Tells 3 man the killers perks.

4 man SWF loads in. Mid match someone on death hook leaves SWF. Sees killer's loadout. Blabs.

Until you can figure out how it can be abused, then figure out how to counter it, people negatively impacted will never really support the goal.
I mean this seems like a stretch that this happens enough to warrant this change. I don’t talk to people on chat that I don’t know personally
No, just punching holes in how solos bypassing the block can be abused.

Gotta take into account how it can be abused.
  • I don't get why people push to have some ######### tell them what character to play, or do it to others.

We all know that ######### will happen.
"Hey, we need a healer. Swap out min for Claudette."
    "Hey, ######### off."
    "Cmon, be healer!"
    "No, ######### off."

Survivors might even lobby dodge other survivors in other classes because they want certain support.

You know what's more simple? Chasing them out.

Know what's even easier still? Survivors walking out the exit.

Yet the easiest of them all? Getting over it and moving on to the next match.

People complain about the most insignificant things in this game and demand an immediate fix. Multiplayer games like this are meant to be competitive, so there should be no surprise when a survivor teabags at the gate or a killer nods their head after a hook.

tell that to the survivors that won't get over the match, and just leave.
Instead hang around until they get chased out.
Are you going to keep suggesting things the survivors could be doing, too, but don't?

It does suck to fly under the radar, but neither you, or the killer wants to get stomped.

Maybe a more robust loadout system which modifies who you're match made with based on your loadout, how much stuff you have, and rank could come into play.

    And factor in SWF.

They could pretty much show SFW players with a different name color or give killers the chance to preselect the type of matches as you do in KYF.

Believe me, I would love the idea, and I asked for labels for months, but people who defend SWFs would tear into it saying the dodging/filtering would kill the game.
    And they might be right.
  • The guy who escaped?
He stepped into the Quantum Leap accelerator and vanished… He woke to find himself trapped in the past, facing mirror images that were not his own and driven by an unknown force to change history for the better. His only guide on this journey is Al, an observer from his own time, who appears in the form of a hologram that only Sam can see and hear. And so Dr. Beckett finds himself leaping from life to life, striving to put right what once went wrong and hoping each time that his next leap will be the leap home.

  • Here's the problem with the request. Well one of them, the other being how it could be exploited to hell, and back.

The problem? When the lobby loads, the game doesn't know the difference between the 3 man ed edd and eddy and the 4th man.

You'd think there would be a flag, but there isn't.
  • And then we have to figure out how to balance killers to the speed of voice chat.

If we can't make a solid plan, we think the devs have? They're only human, too.

If we balance solo to SWF we leave killers in the dust, and well, kill the game. Every lobby is one to be dodged. There isn't enough git gud out there to ignore it.
And because we have no real plan to balance killers to the power of voice chat, neither do the devs, most likely, so they hold off until they can.

Imo, it would require a drastic increase in killer lethality. Like ebony mori base kit minimum.
Look at the killers in games with voice chat, then compare how fast they work compared to DBD killers.
Do they have to drag anyone anywhere multiple times to kill them? Likely not.
How many have extreme speed movements? They probably do.
  • They will just teabag outside the threshold, about as safe as if they were in it.

    Or just stand there.

Nope. We need a 5 minute countdown, or something. A set of whirling blades starts over the gate room, and it starts to lower. The last minute you have to crouch, or crawl your ass out or the gates are closed, lest you want to become a philly cheese steak with ketchup.
    Or something like that.
  • Maybe once since night before last, running Claudette for a ritual.
First few matches were ugly sweater and shorts.
Last match was the charity case long coat and shorts.

Did get a Freddy with a Mori once because the 3rd person just had to pop on a toolbox. I was the unarmed one. Didn't get mori, but didn't get spared much.
  • Because the instant survivors have unique abilities some jackass in the lobby will message me and tell me to change my character, or some #########, and they can ######### right the hell off.
