I see where you're coming from but some things are easier to implement. Think of the ruin nerf as a preview of changes to come. I don't think you're wrong btw, I know the timing of these changes is an opinion thing and there's no right answer for when they should come. Personally I'm glad they didn't wait, it gives the community time to adapt and starts organizing the data early.
I mean, at the very least, it's turned easy survivor life into "I can literally sleep while doing this" survivor life, at least for me as a solo survivor. heh

It's strange to see since he's an advocate of keeping gen times.
It's not so much that I'm mad about ruin. Ruin needed a change. There was just so many things that needed to be done before that...but somehow that took priority lol

I'd rather a camper get 2 pips and be sent to red rank hell if you ask me.
Eh, red rank hell doesn't exist anymore. There's as many potatoes at red ranks as there is at brown ranks, cause it's so easy to pip as a survivor.
-
The incentive is to punish the camper. Stay on the hook as long as possible, so your team has time to do gens and leave. Forcibly depipping the killer and cucking him of as many points as possible.

Balance wise the game is terrible. Very small, with repetitive loops and nothing to help survivors when they're gone. I can see frustration for both sides.
It's got balanced landing spots, a ton of safe pallets, and a good amount of windows.
Also don't forget the room of death, which can be used to loop a killer for the entire match if you do it right.

Game or Haddonfield.
I feel like Haddonfield needs a rework more desperately, but Game is very bland with textures/atmosphere compared to newer maps.
I would agree - that aesthetic wise, The Game needs it the most. That being said, balance-wise, the game is pretty good.

Idk, just my view on them I guess. I think they're TOO killer sided for Demogorgon or Hag, but too survivor sided for Billy or Nurse. They don't have a mid point for killers either. Trapper also SHINES on them... But I think they deserve a FAT rework. We can agree to disagree though.
I mean, every map (screw swamp btw) has characeristics like that. If you're Trapper or Hag on Hawkins, Lery's or The Game, you're at a disadvantage because your traps shine like night stars. Making those maps, in that situation, survivor sided, because unless you're potato, the maps cuck the killer of their power.
I just think there's a lot to be said for killer viability per map, and survivability (not a real word, but to hell with it) per map depending on the killer. The variance is good. Not every map should work with every killer, or every survivor playstyle.

That's not the problem, I'm sorry I didn't clarify what I meant, I meant to say it needs more pallets, less safe ones (like Freddy's map got the rework for) and it needs less stealth opportunities so it doesn't kill Nurse and Billy (Billy gets stuck on random things).
Eh, I don't think nerfing stealth is a good idea. Not every map will be good for every killer. Sometimes you just have to try your best, but stealth is a core component of the game.
Also, screw all the swamp maps.

Calling my post a "one-sided survivor main comment" doesn't disprove my point and just shows personal bias against my argument.
The idea that it is impossible for killers to apply at least some generator pressure is completely untrue. Even on lower mobility killers, I generally don't struggle to slow down generator progress without Hex: Ruin (at red ranks). It all involves knowing when to chase survivors and knowing when to patrol generators instead. It's about getting the balance between slowing down generator progress and creating further objectives for the survivors (in the form of injuring and hooking their teammates).
You're correct that some killers do struggle to apply pressure due to low mobility. But it certainly is not impossible.
Show us some of your compelling gameplay, good sir.

@Poweas said:

Yamaoka estate is too stealth based and has too little pallets. Both of them. They should be reworked to have more pallets and less stealth opportunities, so Nurse and Billy can perform better on them.
Some RNG versions of it can have less pallets, but what you'll notice is more times than not, when there's fewer pallets, they are mostly safe pallets that the killer needs to break. So it's a trade off. If you play them correctly you're not really in any danger.
-
Also not sure if I mentioned this, but literally, screw all the swamp maps.
Seriously. As both killer AND survivor. #DELETESWAMP

Man, the one-sided survivor main comments in this thread. Delicious, lol
@OnryosTapeRentals said:
I agree. So many killers over-relied on Ruin and didn't learn basic game skills like generator pressure and choosing chases wisely.
Yes, cause it's totally possible for a killer without mobility to apply gen pressure on a map like Mother's Dwelling, where 2 gens can get done before you walk, in a straight line, to the other side of the map at the beginning of a game.

Only correct answer below...
In this order:
- Haddonfield
- Coldwind (the whole realm)
- Red Forest
- Crotus Penn Asylum (the Chapel map is fine, just the one with the asylum in the middle)
- Ormond
- Autohaven
- Macmillan (not because it's unbalanced, but because it would look sick with a visual overhaul)
The Game, Hawkins, Yamaoka (yes, even this map), Springwood are all fairly balanced for both sides.
Also, #REMOVESWAMP.
-
So, ruin is gone. Ruin actually bought killers the extra time we felt comfortable with to "play nice".
Without it, we can still win, but we care a lot less about how much fun you're having, because we don't have time for it anymore. It's not scummy just because you don't like it.
If all those things are scummy, by that logic, so are safe pallets, god windows, flashlight blinds and body blocks.

Why would gen times need to increase? Survivors got no buffs.
Every killer nerf is technically a survivor buff.
That being said, no, gen times don't need to be increased. The texas sized maps need to be rebalanced.

Again, isn't that griefing? On PS4 it says you can report people for that.
Nowhere on PS4 does it say you can get banned for slugging. It's not griefing. You can die on the ground. Their job is to ensure your death. That's like saying looping is griefing.
There's plenty of reasons to slug.
@Almo said:
No it is not bannable. They die after a while, so you can't hold the game hostage with it.
It's not particularly nice... but since when are Killers supposed to be nice. :)

@Unicorn_scarecrow said:
I'll say it depends on the player more than the killer. You can give a great killer that is all perked up to a bad player and it won't matter because the player won't come through with a win. Vice versa, you can give a terrible killer to a beast player and that player will still end up being a force to reckon with.
A hard killer for me is Ghostface (when it is a good player). The instadown kicks my butt.
I think that's a byproduct of being psyched out by the exposed status. Most players become inherently less confident when they are exposed (except in Myers case, he's fast as all hell in tier 3). Nothing really changes when he has you exposed, he can just down you in one hit. Try to move passed the exposed bit and just loop them as usual.

Imagine thinking spirit takes more skill than billy. You probably don't even know about chainsaw techniques at loops.
Finally something we can agree on. This person has been going on and on about Freddy and Billy being OP. As Mcote says - "That's an opinion..."
It actually confuses me how anyone who claims to be good can think either of them are OP.
"Oh! Ruin is finally gone! Better go after the killers with gen pressure!"
-
I was watching a streamer yesterday...I don't want to mention names, so let's just call them "HappyChihuahua". They went out of their way to mock killers for the ruin change, including putting it in their steam name....and then proceed to say "What an annoying scumbag of a killer" when they keep patrolling gens.

Which long list?
Nurse? Justified.
Spirit? Justified
Legion? Come on... He was bad to begin with.
And Survivor Nerfs? Basically since the Launch of the Game Survivors got nerfed. Justified as well, Survivors were OP.
But now there were 3 Patches with Killer Nerfs and everyone is acting as if Killers get constant Nerfs and forget all those Buffs that happened.
Spirit is in a good spot right now. Except for the sound bug which I don't think BHVR has even acknowledged exists yet after what..3 months?
Nurse was overnerfed. Her addons needed gutting. Her base kit was perfectly fine.
Legion was the only killer who (on launch) was both crap, and overpowered at the same time.
-
I said this in another thread...
Disable the end game chat. You don't need it (unless you like salt, then by all means). Disable profile comments (unless you like it, again). Stop playing nice.
Here's the thing. The majority of survivors don't give a rats ass about your fun as a killer. They really don't. They will run in circles, abuse god windows/god pallets, click their little flashlight and teabag you at a pallet as if throwing down a pallet after running in circles took any skill, and then they'll berate you in chat when you play nice, with "ggez", or they'll whine that you didn't "respect the 4%". They'll be massively OP with endless second chances, and still whine to BHVR to nerf perfectly balanced killers like Billy or Freddy.
Stop caring about their fun. Pick a killer, pick a disgusting load out, and kick the living crap out of them. Don't play by the magical book of killer rules written by survivors. Play to win. Play by your own rules.

It's not documented by BHVR, though. :)
Granted, they could all be bugs; but if that's the case, since things like this are such a normal occurrence with every patch, shouldn't your QA team be looked at? Or at least expanded?

The only thing scary about DBD is the devs and their inability to even remotely know what balance is.

It'll be a male and a female. I'm betting on Ace and either Meg or Kate.

Consoles? Where there's even less people and even longer queue times?
I used Steam as an example because it's the only semi-consistent one, and DBD's main platform..

Oh, okay. So cleansing totems doesn't get rid of NOED. Also - totem destruction goes toward your pip. So it's definitely part of peoples win conditions, depending on who you are. So, there's that.

@ZoneDymo said:
By your own logic you should be happy with the change, if killers really feel THAT dependend on it, then clearly something is wrong with it.
The issue wasn't ruin. The issue was the ability for certain killers to apply map pressure. You try applying adequate map pressure on Mother's Dwelling with Trapper or Myers. 2 gens can literally be done by the time you simply walk from one end of the map to the other.
Your mentality is like that of the devs. It's flawed in that they looked at it and said "80% of killers use this, its probably OP and needs a nerf", instead of doing the correct thing and researching why it was so widely used.

I wish they wouldn't shadow nerf stuff. They do this stuff alot, nerd stuff without mentioning and waiting till last minute to he like, oh ya we are changing this tomorrow.
The devs really need to get better with communication.
This isn't about being better with communication. They have done this stuff forever, and they hope we won't notice. Then they'll proceed to never respond about it.

Almost certain this is a bug.
This might sound weird but I loved how "Smooth" playing Freddy felt. You could place snares in the middle of a chase without slowing down (Although they later made placing snares kill bloodlust. Doc loses bloodlust zapping people so fair enough.) and hit people, etc.
Like it just felt not clunky. I doubt they'd nerf him without putting it in patch notes.
This is BHVR. They have a history of shadow nerfing things and avoiding the subject at all costs.

I have tested. I can confirm there seems to be a cooldown reminscent of the Doctor in the PTB, where after he shocked, he couldn't do anything but walk for 3 seconds.

Maybe we should remind Mcote of how badly he was bullied with instablinds when he played as Hag in front of thousands of people. Remember how that turned out? Spoilers: Instablinds were nerfed weeks later.

She really is, just aim in their general direction and the hatchet hits half the time. She probably has the strongest chase in the game next to spirit. Her only weakness is mobility. You can throw over half the loops in the game. Why do you think every streamer mains her? Because she is weak? Lol.
