(I'm going to go on a limb and assume the SWF groups mentioned are optimal.)

My best tip to counter SWF groups is to take advantage of their altruism. Most SWF teams tend to act dumber than most coordinated Solo groups because they know when to call out for saves and when to call out for heals. They also know when to call out for pallet and flashlight saves.

As such, you need to basically play as dirty as possible. Force them to go for Survivors who are slugged, force them to waste their perks such as Unbreakable and DS way early into the game so they can never use it around endgame, and start kicking people off the game one by one. Always focus on the weakest link because even the worst player in DBD can hold M1 on a Generator for 80 seconds and they are a liability.

If there is an obvious weak player in the group, make sure they die as quickly as possible so you can focus on the stronger runners in the group. Of course don't go out of your way to tunnel them, you'll lose faster that way. Spread the pressure evenly throughout all 4 survivors, keep them occupied on things that are not generators, keep injuring them to force them to heal, keep downing them to force them to be slugged, and keep hooking them to force them to save. Use perks like Surveillance to keep generators in check and make them never feel safe to touch a generator.

In short, be as "unfun" and as "boring" as possible. You're playing this to win, you need to play tactics that the other side will find dull and boring. And if they feel that way, that's on them. But don't let them guilt you into giving mercy, never ever give them mercy unless you are feeling nice. Always keep them on their toes, make them equally as stressed if not more and make them frustrated that they have to go against an optimal killer because that is realistically the only way to deal with Survivors who would play optimally.

It's alright if you want to play a strong Killer if you suspect your opponents are playing a SWF. What's most important is that you have fun, and if you know you can't have fun if you're playing the Killer you chose right now when versing a SWF Group, then go ham and show them no mercy.

Always remember to play fair, but when it comes to groups that wants to play Optimally, play Optimally in return. Sometimes you'll get extra bonus salt, which goes well with the meat you'll be cooking from their corpses.

This, or you could play a meme/endgame build. They want to rush, let them. They'll see the error of their ways soon enough.

Or maybe he could just lift his knife slowly which ends with a brutal swing.

Raise it like in the movie... yeah... I could see that. : )

  • Trapper can hold a trap like he does in game (they could even show what the trap dyes look like in the menu if they wanted to).

Clown could swish the bottle around, Wraith could clang the bell to cloak and decloak.

Freddy could set up a trap, as he has no animation.

Myers doesn't need one... but maybe he could look at his knife occasionally...

There are so many opportunities to show off the killers and their powers in the menu.

  • I like Legions, Default, and Demogorgons myself.

I personally agree. I don't think Deathslinger's TR should be able to go so small. Especially since he has add ons that shrink it even more.

At least Huntress has a permanent 40m lullaby.

You have Spine Chill and he has to aim with a smaller FOV and at a slower movement speed to get the reduction... I don't see how this is a problem.

  • That the balance of a killer should be based around how effective base kit is. Deathslinger is fine, but Trapper needs some serious work (my opinion, of course. I can get 4ks with default Deathslinger no problem, and even play with rusty chain only sometimes, while trapper... they need something)...

Also, Aftercare is the best survivor perk because it relies on skill of the user to get worth from it, and helps the team out in the process.

Maybe a quest to close a hatch...but yeah, most of the time this sounds like a killer trying to be a jerk when they think there's no consequence.

Or, hear me out here, or they don't know where the survivor crawled off to, and found the hatch first.

Dont assume the worst of people.

  • I think part of the problem is not every killer is for every player. I hate playing Billy and Nurse, and Deathslinger and Legion are my best killers. If you do well with Wraith, good on you. Not every killer will be good with all of them.

  • @maxchienbinh said:

however, it takes an enormous time to stalk if i use that addon.

You could use the J. Myers Memorial Pamphlet for faster stalking, but Red Hair is more reliable overall. To counteract the slower movement speed, I would recommend using PWYF for a movement speed boost. And Corrupt Intervention for buying time.

  • I dont like any Exhaustion perk because it is inherently braindead. Except for this one. Head On is fine.

Myers. Literally just born pure evil for seemingly no reason. Most other killers have backstories that make them at least somewhat sympathetic.

Well, Freddy messed with kids and killed a few, so I think he is a more evil individual than Myers. Myers is Unfeeling, while Freddy delights in his kills.

I will tell you a secret about the balancing.

Scaling is more powerful in the end than flat strength. If scaling is on pair with it at the end, its much, much weaker because you lack the snowball at the start.

It works like that in every single type of the game.

What does this have to do with what I said? (I was confirming what he said, if anything...)

I just wanted to point out that hiding behind gens is no longer a counter. A few months ago they've changed the aura colours, making it clearly distinguishable weather a survivor is behind a gen. Otherwise, this is correct.

Well... that is not the point. The point is there are enough counters to BBQ without making it even worse.

  • Here is a few! (I really hope none of these are used for future patches...)

Trapper: Traps placed down by him are fastened to the floor and cant be moved. Ever.

Doctor: Controls become inverted when you use a static blast.

Joey: His pants are way too low to run in. He trips when trying to frenzy.

Leatherface: will tantrum after every chainsaw use.

    This makes no sense.

If survivors don't have some sort of counter to a killer/new killer, that killer is broken and deemed META and people like you aren't helping the community grow, you're killing it.

If you truly think that survivors shouldn't have some sort of counter to a killer then you clearly never played survivor or you're being the selfish one. The whole purpose of a survivor is to survive and if a doctor spams his shock which he can do because there's virtually no cool-down, then he's broken. Like Huntress you might as well drop pallets early to get distance and that can ends games fast. THAT is truly boring.

Doctor legit has barely any cool-down to his shock and easily the best killer for 4Ks with the right perks. Just cause he got a rework doesn't mean it was a well done rework.

But if survivors have counters to everything, that just makes it unfair for the killer. As they have to deal with 4 people that can know what to do against them. It is what made Pre-buff Blague, and Old Freddy unfun to play. Survivors denied their powers and made them M1 killers. They didn't cleanse and failed skill checks to wake up. People don't make those choices anymore because it isn't as simple as doing one thing to counter an entire killer. If they do not cleanse, Plague has one corrupt purge by default. If they fail skillchecks against Freddy, then they risk having him come over to them via teleport and he can put you to sleep easily.

Survivors have to make (or should be forced to make) tough choices. Right now, that is the only skillful part of playing survivor. Should I heal against this Legion? Should I cleanse against this plague? Where and when should I heal against an Oni? These questions have no perfect solution, which makes the game more interesting.

Besides, Doc has counters: Calm Spirit, Lockers, and staying outside the TR. You can't afford to chase normally or run him around. He, like Nurse and Freddy, force survivors to play in ways they rather wouldn't. He slows the game down like trapper too. He is in a fine spot, and the only thing I can say is: Get Gud.

  • @elvangulley said:

why should survivors have 100% counters to all killer powers 100% of the time stop being selfish

This. Survivors should not have counters to everything. It gets boring real fast.

  • @Bludge23 said:

I don't think he's better than huntress. She can down survivors across pallets and she can get a quick follow if she hits you with a hatchet without the need for save the best for last

Her hatchet cooldown is the same as if you had 8 stacks of STBFL.

  • For me, it is when a Redeemer shot clearly hit the survivor, but misses because hitboxes are weird.

  • The original Halloween 1 + 2 were great.

    That being said:

The original Nightmare on Elm Street were pretty good as well.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre (the original) was pretty good. It is really short though.

Stranger things isn't bad. But its later seasons are kind of ruining things a little.

Ash is... alright. Never seen the original movies, but the show was alright...

Saw 1 is more of a police drama than a horror movie, but that doesn't mean it is bad.

  • Video Tape helps with the Pigs Dash and does what both common addons related to the Dash and Crouch do at them at the same time.

  • I am actually a fan of the Black Box... but that is because I love to hunt the obsession (Furtive Chase, Remember Me, Nemesis, and Rancor). Black Box applies whenever the obsession changes, so that is awesome synergy with it. : )

  • Half the time I miss its because the windup time is too long, so... kind obvious choice for me.

  • Hail to the King.

Seriously, that addon was really fun before the rework. Just shock 7 times to get full use then make sure they get to T2. Now? It is borderline stupid with how easy it is to use. Every madness affliction in the game applied when they reach T2... that is extremely powerful.

  • With most killers, their red addons aren't usually my favorite... but Michael... he is special. : D

Red hair is fun, and so is tombstone. But Red hair is the better one by far.

  • Any of the duration addons are great. They allow you to pull off mindgames you wouldn't be able to do with base kit. My favorite is running a person into a trap, then they drop the pallet on your side, they vault, I teleport and hit them.

  • @magicmaster2020 said:

I'd have to go with iridescent button mainly because destroying pallets after you vault them is pretty damn useful for stopping loops.

The information of the pin is also great. Knowing where everyone is during frenzy is never to be underestimated... and pallets disappear over time, so this addon always has a use.

  • Etched Ruler. You get way more versatility with the power and you can afford to actually use it more often.

  • It was a tough choice between Trapper Bag and Logwood, but The Bag really takes the cake. Having the ability to move more than one trap is nessisary for him.

  • I actually used Rickety chain by itself to force myself to get better at him (no reload addons, no chain durability, no reeling speed...). If you can get reliable downs with the chain, then you most certainly can without.

Right now though? I don't use any. Don't need to, really. And I play him for fun, so using addons that make it even easier just seems boring.

    Solitary confinement

you prefer to be alone as others just get in your way. While no other surrvivors are within 16 meters solitary condiment activates while it is active you gain a 15 percent increase in any actions Except movement speed. However when others are near you, you get a 7 percent decrease in any actions.

”leave me alone. I’m better off that way.”

    avoidance

you have a keen sense for avoiding others no matter who they are. When standing still hit the active ability button when activated gain an increased movement speed (10,15,20%) for 8 seconds and leave no scratch marks while vaulting faster. However there’s a price once deactivated you can not run for (30,25,20) seconds.

    “no point staying here”

    sheer will

during the trial your will is strong and is hard to break.once off the hook sheer will activates While sheer will is active you leave no scratch marks, blood , you don’t moan, and you heal 20 percent faster. Sheer will has 2 tokens and each token lasts for (25,35,45)seconds.

    ”giving up won’t help me”

I dunno what do y’all think about these?

Solitary Confinement sounds like one of my perks. No Trust, to be specific. : P

I like all of your ideas though. : )

  • Looping shack is a decent strategy, as on most maps there is a 50/50 chance of basement being elsewhere (Shelter woods is the only exception, though).

  • @Sluzzy said:

I actually don't know why it's not unlimited. BBQ is unlimited use perk, Distortion should be unlimited to counter aura reading.

BBQ has 12 uses maximum (11 useful ones). Distortion can counter 3 of those. Lockers can counter any aura perks. Getting close is a counter. Hiding behind gens is a counter. Soul survivor is a counter.

There are enough counters for one very limited effect that it is not even funny.

  • There are no earnable Ultra Rare cosmetics. They used to be pay for ones, but only limited stock. They got rid of having to buy it because people were reselling those for really high prices.

Oh yeah, i did all adept acheivements last month. Nurse was hard but i found deathslinger was harder. Mainly cause im not great at fps's and his perks are awful. I depipped myself to do those though, trying to get adept acheivements in red ranks is not a life im about

I did all of those before the rework... including From the Void She Kills: Three blinks and a gen-grab. That took me longer than I want to admit.

  • Yes. And the Donkey Jacket, and the Dweard... I have all the ultra rare ones.

They were released to everyone for free, because the devs didn't want any more exclusive outfits (at least that is what they said... they still gave an exclusive outfit for Switch players, though, and recolored it for other platforms).

  • I will smack people to make them quiet or if they gave me a long chase. More of a sign of: You did a good job. But I still got you.

Not a toxic gesture when I do it, but I understand that others might do it that context.

Also, some screams are unbearable to listen to.

  • @LiunUK said:

    mine would be

    fight and flight

after stunning a killer gain the haste effect for 10/15/20 seconds after the effect ends this perk goes on cooldown for 60 seconds.

    tactical approach

whilst healthy, standing still and crouching press the active ability button to go prone for 20/25/30 seconds the effect ends early if you move. after using this perk it will be disabled until after you have been hooked.

    to track a predator

the killer will leave a trail lasting 10 seconds after following the trail for 10/8/6 seconds the killer aura is revealed and will remain revealed so long as you follow the trail.

I like the concepts. Just think that Fight and Flight should be an exhaustion perk. I also think Tactical Approach should replace crouching, without a cooldown... with the caveat that you attract crows more quickly. I think, overall, they are decent perks. : )

Was Freddy. He left a loop and ran straight to the shack window where I had set a snare at the beginning of the round. So if I had played trapper, the outcome would have been the same.

Blaming a Killer for using his Power is still beyond my understanding.

Yeah, makes no sense, just asking for context beause without it that could mean anything.

Im in the red ranks too, it was rough at first but im getting better. I go in knowing im going to lose and am suprised when i do well. Im managing to 2k a lot now, few weeks ago i couldnt even hit people 😂

Way better than me, and I even went after all her achievements. Not the best experience in the world... Keep at it! : D

  • I was going to say Unlicensed, but I'm not sure out of these categories... I guess one that could acquire info like the Legion or Old Freddy. I love working around that instead of just having a boring patrolling killer.

  • Nurse, Demogorgon, Ghostface, or survivor dailies.

    Nurse: unfun to play.

Demo: Have to use full shreds. Which is just cumbersome in a chase where getting an early shred can be the difference between a down or not.

    Ghostface: Lean mechanic is unreliable.

Survivor: I don't like playing survivor.

  • It is a nice refrence, but I would prefer that they each had their own mori, tbh.

Im pretty sure thats an inaccurate statement. Its not Wikipedia

Wikipedia has a vetting process that must be undertaken to even try to edit the page. I have tried to edit them myself, and been rejected a few times.

IMDB has no such process, and has had many, many false IMdB reports. The rumored to be leaked Halo Infinite castings were an example of this (at least the ones from 6 months to a year ago).

  • @ZtarShot said:

    Ztar's perks...

Stepping away - You commonly find yourself going off track of what others think you'll do. When pressing the active ability button, you put scratch marks visible to you and the killer in a straight line. This line continues until you start running again. If it goes through a pallet or vault, cause a notification on it for the killer. Cooldown of 45/40/35 seconds. "I'll leave you to your things." -Ztar

Not real - You distrust everything around you, even when things seem calm. Fake pallets and husks will be highlighted to you. If the killer is undetectable when you would be inside the terror radius, show their aura for 5 seconds. "Are you sure?"

Noticable - You notice when a killer attempts to adapt to a situation against you. Everytime the killer gains a haste boost while you're in a chase with them, move at 1.10x speed for 3 seconds. After said chase is over, gain the exhausted status effect for 60/50/40 seconds. "Make it a little more subtle next time." -Ztar

Not Real is a bit too strong... it is an anti-stealth killer and anti Freddy perk. Maybe you should place a limitation on it. But I like Noticable and Stepping away. : )
