The optimization is pretty bad in DBD... especially for console players

trust me. Played on ps4 and pro since release on there and playing on pc was a big jump but still optimization not the best but i love the game anyway. Certainly much much better than before at least on ps4 pro. It is much smoother. Not too sure how pc struggles were.

  • *Laughs in PC stability* Stupid joke aside. I feel your pain. Personally on ps4 i almost never had the issue I felt I was nearly god level in the game but moving over to PC my experience became basically just getting gen rushed and looked and tea bagged. The tea bagging doesn't always get to me I usually laugh it off, but it can get annoying and having to go up against a swf that tryhards is never fun either. Hated it most when Metal of Man wasn't nerfed. So many survivors running nothing but crutch perks it got really frustrating especially with me having no perks because of the platform switch. Not too sure what they could do to slow the game more though.

One of them could be a new survivor it'd be really cool. For killer it could be a number of things from the show like monsters themselves or main villains of the show

I absolutely would loathe for the Supernatural community to be transmuted onto Dead by Daylight's. That would make everything 1000x worse.

What's wrong with the supernatural community? Seriously I dont watch the show or know of the community

They're the same community that came from FNaF and Undertale. Not good.

I like watching fnaf theory or lore explanation vids but I don't play it nor undertale. It has a song I like but that's it...also this post is old and I'm late

Yeah, her continuos "WAAAAH HAAAH" is pretty obnoxious. But gameplay wise? I mean, do I really need to tell you that when she phases you can clearly hear the sounds of her footsteps, which completely kill her stealth even with prayer beads? Come on.

I know about the whoosh though spine chill I wasn't aware. Started playing on PC and its like nothing but spirit all day.

  • I love the idea. I want reason to play other than i just like the game and its fun. I need something i want to get or achieve.

    See @Ramxenoc445 what I mean?

I had to P3-50 Leatherface and I didn't understand how bad he was till I did, anyone like @Leatherbilly who puts more time than that into that Killer can tell you how much of a struggle he is on a daily basis.

I got so mad with the Killer while P3-50ing him that I had to get Bloodpoints from a different Killer because of how much of a Headache Leatherface was to play. Than I got a OK perk build and add-on combo with him and it somewhat worked out.

    But still... Its PRETTY BAD...

I'm a legion main currently and was a freddy main since he released and playing him isn't as bad or frustrating as lestherface

Well I was stuck at Rank 7 on both killer and survivor and in my opinion, I fully deserved it.

I think purple ranks are exactly where veteran players should be. Red should be perfect and top of the rung players, and if you're getting screwed by NOED, then I don't think you fit the bill.

And why are you constantly getting caught? There are three other survivors. Let them get tunneled instead.

You're probably right I just miss my red ranks. But I can usually look for a while but at some point I start getting sloppy or nervous and eventually get caught. I've only had a few games where I looped the entire game without being caught.

  • @Blueberry said:

I actually think the ranking system is pretty good. At least way better than what we had anyway. If anything I think it's still too easy to pip for both sides, not too hard.

Point 1: After Legion smacks the survivor, they (survivor) get a...what? 5 foot boost ahead of Legions sprint? Unless you're hitting it around corners and the survivor manages to completely bamboozle you, there's no real impact to Legion's tracking at all as they can easily see the survivor still. What this does do though, is give the survivor a chance in situations like the corn field, corners, etc versus having zero chance the moment you hit them the first time as you can easily...very easily, outrun them while continuing to track, seeing as they can't get out of the blood spatter range before you're back on them.

Point 2: Legion is one killer without a drawback to improper use of his power thus far. Huntress you need to aim, Billy/Bubba you need to time, etc. For Legion, as long as you can *see* a survivor, there's really no impact to just using your power, in fact, it only benefits him/her. By making it so that a misuse (misplay) is punished, it puts him on even ground with other killers in terms of power utility.

Point 3: BHVR turning Borrowed Time into a Deep Wound effect at all was a mistake, and it's something they're going to have to address with this particular update.

All said: Legion's still busted and there's really nothing they can do to make him work unless they strip it back to the framework and rebuild. I get it, killers like having an EZ mode, where they can just outrun, outchase, outstealth and outloop survivors without any real consequences. The weird part of it is that, at the same time...he's a weak killer, which makes it annoying for both sides of the equation.

Survivors don't have a counterplay, they wait to get hit and then stroll away and hold M1 for 30 seconds because Legion has pinballed off to another person. There's no real threat, the only fun part of the game (the chase) is completely taken off the table in 99% of interactions and Legion winds up being more of an annoyance than a fear, like a gigantic mosquito.

I like the legion but they're the biggest joke to come to this game. The only thing about them that is op is being able to abuse Chase mechanics and vault pallets with no consequences. Nothing else about them is overpowered. They are or were slow and were punished for not using the power because of that but also punished for using it having to hit survivors 4-5 times without m1 or franks mixtape

funny how you mention a tradeoff but whether or not all totems get cleansed the killer still benefits. free 1 shots or extra time to kill survivors

I think it's kind of the point. It keeps the game going a little longer to let it be a fair amount of time where the killer cant complain about gen rush and survivors had time to escape

  • @TragicSolitude said:

If Mori's were made to work on last hook, they'd be completely useless. As they currently stand, Mori's are balanced.

It's irrelevant if lower-skilled survivors find them unfair as they can learn to play better. It shouldn't be down to the devs to compensate for one's lack of skill and willingness to learn.

Thats fair let the lower skilled players learn to be better instead of nerf things down to their skill. I still don't feel its all that balanced but it's not a major problem so I guess if it ain't broke don't fix it. If they were much more popular I think it'd definitely be a heated topic

@Aven_Fallen I actually really like this idea. It would obviously have to be a pink offering, but it'll give survivors an ultra rare and give something that's generally unfun to go against somewhat of a counter (other than never being hooked lol). While we're talking about things that can make the game far too quick, perhaps we could introduce an item that counters the key, though I'd be up for an entire rework of keys. Not sure what can or should be done with them.

This is a better idea actually

  • @fluffybunny said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/51546/mori-balance

The only way that would be fair is if everyone pauses when the killer does their mori (some of the moris take a while) and people could easily just deny it by dying on hook.

I think the idea works really well for games that aren't simply survivors gen running you hard because you can get a hook before they even finish the first gen, but that's also an easy free kill once they've gotten unhooked still potentially before 1 gen is done. To me that screams unfair. Now in games where people gen rush and you have no true means of stopping it this is a terrible idea but they are working on something for end game so it could turn out to work well but once again final hook could still be after the one hook due to being saved after struggle, but them denying you the mori can and will happen regardless I don't know any real fixes for that

  • @malloymk said:

My idea is to eliminate the ebony mori and yellow mori completely.

Make the ivory in the killers base kit. Give a token for each survivor's first hook. If a killer has hooked everyone and four survivors are alive, he can than mori the next survivor he downs. I'd also give killers a blood point bonus for using the mori as well.

It rewards killers for not just camping and tunneling a survivor early on. Killers know that at some point you can't let it get down to a 4 men 1 gen situation. So that is why they often tunnel and camp. This gives them incentive that if they work on spreading the damage they know they can always turn a lopsided game around by earning the mori (or they can still camp/tunnel if they choose). It's fair to the survivor because if one dcs (on accident or on purpose) or if a killer camps, then the mori is out of play.

    That's just my take though.

I like the yellow mori idea that other one I like because it will make killer less likely to camp but sounds like a possible nightmare

  • @Dwight_Confusion said:

You sound like truetalent... and he's hardly the gospel.

Moris are powerful. The pink ones are fairly hard to come by. Moris are balanced. It fits the game.

    No one escapes death...

Death is not an escape. The mori stuff is completely acceptable.

Well I've got 15 ebony mori xD and they aren't mega rare on prestige 3 though the 15 were gotten during the Christmas event, but even after I still get one every blood web or two. But more than anything I like you saying the way they are fits with the game and due to rarity they're fair. Also isn't truetalent a survivor main?

  • @Shad03 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/363198#Comment_363198

Perks are forever. Offerings can be wasted.

Say what you will, but moris aren't brought every game (at least, not by the same killer). The average person does not have/can find enough to sustain a mori every game. And if survivors dc or suicide then the mori can't be used at all.

Thats true though my personal situation I've had 15+ mori on my legion since the Christmas event. Its why I've brought this topic up because I've been using them more lately but against lower ranked groups I'll use them on their last hook if they aren't very good or asap if they all can loop or gen rush or whatever

  • @Hoodied said:

Mori is fine, and your rework idea for it is very, poor

If you hook a survivor twice, then what is the point of using a mori when hook is faster and safer than a mori

Just a quick idea, but the point is to make it fair. One guy says if you've been downed twice you deserve it and I don't think that's totally fair for survivors. Especially not the lower skilled ones. High skilled players hell yeah you might not catch them again but its just a thought. A mori to me is the equivalent of brand new part before its nerf. Only difference is that the mori has one prerequisite and its not a difficult one to achieve. Regarding the hook being faster who cares? I personally use the mori because I like the animated of it all and its fun but against rank 8+ survivor groups the game can be over in less than five minutes and it doesn't feel fair to me and I don't get many points anyway so what's the point other than saying I won?

  • @Shad03 said:

Question. What about the Blood on/in achievements? Not everyone uses Myers, and this sorta thing will make getting that achievement difficult (Not to mention the already existing dcs and suicides in the game already.)

I feel you. When I was trying to get it I had lots of people just die on hook to not get moried. Though im not really sure it'd definitely make that harder to do. I wanna say it wouldn't be impossible but harder to get. They could probably code the mori to work regardless of hook number when its the last survivor, though its a matter of if they think about it and decide its good for the game. I'd say bring your best stall build to ensure you can get that trophy

  • @Chaotic_Riddle said:

Moris and Keys both need to receive some rework, so this is a post I can agree with. :)

Now keys I've got nothing on those. I've felt they were more on the useless side but I also don't have survivors escaping me many times in games with keys nor have other survivors help me escape in games with keys. Only time I use them is with swf and I usually don't get to use it because everyone leaves or dies before I can use it anyway.

  • @Bongbingbing said:

I mean that'd basically make Mori's loose their strength since the survivor is dead on hook anyway. On killers with a long mori like clown it'd be quicker to just hook instead of using the Mori.

and then what about Keys, do we remove them entirely to make up for it?

I don't think it would. You'd still every so often get those one hook mori kills because of people not saving the survivor until struggle. Its just not all survivors are loop and juke gods and for those types of survivors a mori is really unfair. For those swf that are good loopers and jukers it'll give them an edge against a mori but its a better idea to me than just one hook and you're out or one mistake gets you moried

I hate this "adapt" bullshit. 60 seconds currently is so long that you could not be tunneling at all and still eat it. the new DS will still rob you of a hook if you're unlucky, difference is that it won't cost you earlygame pressure now.

Survivors should not get perks that give free escapes in the first place, let's just be honest but sadly this is how it is currently.

I agree that survivors shouldn't have a free escape but killers shouldn't have a guaranteed hook when using iron grip either. The perks survivors do have to counter that perk are very niche and rarely help you in those situations because it varies on maps. Someone will probably say perks aren't meant to be useful all the time but plenty of them are useful all the time or guarantee a good use. But in my opinion perks like DS and iron grip shouldn't exist period.

  • @No_Cluie_Louis said:

You say it like theres something so special to the build. You're running ruin, bbq, and the most toxic addons ever introduced to DBD. There is nothing special about that build

Its not truly special. Was thinking people would focus on the third seal really because I think its a genius idea but nobody has mentioned it. Just mostly the addons. And you're saying the most toxic add ons but they get the job done well. Never understood how you could be toxic for using addons. Only one that actually bothers me is tombstone from Michael.

  • @GrootDude said:

How often do you keep those totems?

Only game where they were all cleaned everyone was on their last hook. That was the only game. Though I had two where they immediately cleaned ruin or third seal but the add ons and lullaby kept it going strong.

  • @thesuicidefox said:

FMT is stupid broken and shouldn't be a thing.

Takes the power from 4-5 hits to 3. I'm happy with it. Its just one of those addons that makes the power the ideal way to use it. Like with freddy making the time to sleep 3 seconds instead of 5+. Or with huntress making hatchets 1hit and take less time to charge

  • @Mc_Harty said:

  • @Delfador said:

Call me crazy but I run enduring and spirit fury on him.

One of the 'counters' is dropping a pallet and stun him so that his power gets wasted. I can't tell how many times survivors stunned me and got downed 5 seconds later.

Also survivors waste ton of pallets since pallets don't mean much against a legion, allowing me to create huge deadzones and then break a couple of pallets. So my spirit fury is almost always active.

To this day it worked quite well, I am not sure if it is the optimal build though.

    It sounds pretty good.

  • Very risky. But so far by the time they find one or can cleanse it the games about over anyway. Third seal sends them into a panic and ruin just gets some off gens. Through lullaby in to hopefully confuse them on if anything is haunted grounds while also making ruin better if they haven't cleaned either yet.

  • @Dwight_Confusion said:

    No. That is really dumb.

The hatch concept is good, but the mechanics are bad. It is horribly survivor sided.

The killer needs the ability to close the hatch permanently, or until a generator is done. Just because a SWF team OR a non-SWF team got 2/5 gens done doesn't equate to a almost free escape.

Survivors are notorious for waiting standoffs out. It's just very 1 sided. Especially if they are healed and all the tryhard trash run self care anyways.

What I would do is just make it to where the killer can close the hatch permanently. If would buff perks like Resilience or whatever more. It's something that has been needed forever.

In a PTB a long time ago they had it to where killer could close it and that was it. Then they did that if they close it the gates powered up. Either one would be better than what we have.

Just play legion. Hit them with feral frenzy wait them out at the hatch and hope theyre not very smart looking away to break the chase and watch the timer go out and pick them up. Its golden. It kind of counters but if they're paying attention or not all that smart it works.

  • Buff bond in some way. With empathy and the one jeff perk in existence the way it is now it seems pretty useless. Maybe giving it the ability to see what allies can see. So if you're close enough to another survivor and they can see a totem a gen or hex totem the aura will show to you. Thinking it could be map wide like the other two perks but if deemed too op than tweaking its original values could be good.

  • I can understand why, but at the same time cannot see how so many players think dedicated servers are going to do anything to improve the game.

    • They are going to cost the developer money increasing incentive to charge for every little thing
    • Your connection to the 'dedicated server' can still have issues
    • You will blame the 'dedicated servers' instead of the killer for your connection

Nothing gets solved with dedicated servers. The only thing I know we do get with dedicated servers is the maintenance cost the developer will surely address with more types of micro transactions. Not that I would complain, but it's what they will do to compensate.

Sure, dedicated servers are supposedly going to help punish players who DC. They could do that now
Sure, they can be more reliable. In over 300+ hours of game time I have had a handful of rubber band connectivity

They simply do not solve more issues than they will more certainly cause. Just my opinion, but I haven't heard anything to the contrary. Only players desperate for dedicated servers as if that is the key to their issue.

less likely to lag and if so I can know its just me

I don't really care about the tunnel part I expect it because the pig is garbo and most of them just do it. But I went to vault a window and the game jerked me back an inch three times and she just happily continued to mosey her way to me and downed me thanks to it.

Tunneling is just playing optimally, do you want the killer to play garbo intentionally?

Hope that is sarcasm because i can get 4ks without tunneling
  • Until you lose killers with gigabit tier internet in your locality and get stuck playing on a budget server 3 states away. I feel for people on bad connections but people on high speed connections that may be forced to play on garbage servers are not going to stick around long. If they spend the money and get decent servers, great, but if they do not then it's an issue.
