  • Solo games have never been better for myself and anyone I've asked about it.

    Same with my killer games.

  • Hopefully it is Doug Bradley and not Goodwill Pinhead.

This recommendation is in no way meant to sell DLCs, but I guess it will sound that way. Play them all. At least one should click. You just say to yourself, "Oh. This is the one." That's how it was for me with Pig.

Also not trying to sell DLC but....

Having all the killers is pretty sweet. It took a decent while to get all the perks on each one (not super bad, I usually grind out a new killer to 50 with most/all perks in a few days), but being able to switch to any killer at any time really helps prevent the game getting stale.

Personally, I love Pig, Bunny Legion, and Elephant Clown.

Close behind are endgame Freddy (Black Box + Remember Me + BW + NOED + NWO) and Trapper.

I really like rotating through the cast, letting my friends pick who I play on stream, etc.

Being able to play the entire cast helps keep the game fresh and, with the addition of MMR, it will add variety to who you face in terms of difficulty.

  • What were the scores & kill rate?

Lock it at 15 they will just do it at 15. Not enough time to fix your load out to prep ya know. I also don't think it should apply to every item. Personally don't care about survivors bringing keys but they seem to trigger people.

If it was done for just keys, people would be up in arms until it was implemented for everything.

Any fixes of this nature should be down in an all or nothing sweep.

I dont think an unfair adjustment to keys would be they must be equipped before entering matchmaking. Then just make it so you can't switch to character with keys equipped or it just doesn't let you bring it in or something. Then people still can get their hatch achievements.

Survivor just needs to be locked in at the 15s mark when it's too late for anyone to leave.

Alternatively, locking in survivor choice and loadout before even hitting the lobby would also work.

Either way, it would severely lessen the stereotypes associated with keys, flashlight/box squads, and clone squads.

This is just my own perspective, but if I go into a random lobby and everyone switches to X item or the same survivor at the last second, I'm not going to play nice, as there's a preconceived vibe of toxicity/tryharding.

If I went into a lobby and there were 4 Bunny Feng Min with flashlights and I knew they were locked into that or would be past a certain timer point (either or), I'd be way more inclined to play and probably have a laugh with the "Bunny Flash Mob."

Now to kinda play into this what if survivors had to have the key equipped before readying up for a game, then no last minute key switching to cuck an endgame build and you'd have time to adjust

Last second switching is something that should be addressed and would do a lot to lessen the toxic stigma unfairly associated with keys.

  • BHVR isn't going to turn your computer off for you, sorry.

  • I use SC/BK/Lithe/Filler (usually Kindred or Empathy for killer Intel) and escape most games.

I really don't remember the last time I was face camped. I get tunneled sometimes, but my random teammates usually seem to run bt/take aggro/take a hit for me.

Most of the time that I do get tunneled, I find myself acknowledging that it is the correct move based on the positioning knowledge I get from my info perk.

A lot of the tunneling/camping "complaints" I've gotten during recent games have been shot down by the better survivors in the match that recognize the whole game state.

Shockingly, in my last Leatherface game, a Steve ran me right round baby right round like a record player for close to 3 min, but only 1 gen popped thanks to corrupt - BBQ revealed a survivor cleansing a totem and 2 on a second gen. He got rescued and carried much of the game leading to a 3 man escape.

In the end game chat he said something along the lines of that I should have camped him out of the game based on what he saw on hook (and what I saw with BBQ) if I wanted to get better positioning.

Pretty sure the rest of the chat died from shock.

I'm honestly more than happy to lose to someone like that or to die from someone that thinks I'm a strong player on the board and wants to get rid of me ASAP (I've had some really wholesome chats with some of these players, but I really think that's because I don't take it personally most of the time).

There are people that will camp just to ruin a game or SWF that will grief, but these are in the vast minority (maybe 1 in 50 games for me).

Tunneling, Camping, and even SWF death squads are nowhere near as endemic as people say - if they really were, the game would not grow. People would not consistently play and support such a game.

The only constant issue that this game truly has, and it's certainly not a secret, is the weird mishmash of toxic and entitled attitudes that run rampant in this player base.

  • Apparently bad killers camp so they can have easy games and rank up to the red ranks where camping is a weak strategy and games are harder - makes sense.

I play a fair bit of killer (and adjust my playstyle according to the match because, you know, I'm not a bot and have player agency) but as a mostly solo player, I always assume that I'm going to die on 1st hook and try hard from the start of the match.

If I get hooked and facecamped a bunch, I start bringing Kindred.

If camping and tunneling were truly as endemic and game breaking as people claim, the game would not be where it is today.

  • Filter only accepts Red Rose (the finest of teas).

  • Play how you want.

As Otz said in his POV video, 3 hooking everyone in a rotation is generally a bad move, while eliminating someone ASAP is the fastest way to gain an advantage.

  • My solo queue games have been great with MMR.

Even had a game where LF spawned very close to two survivors, had 2 downs within 2 minutes, yet we managed to recover and get all the gens done. We all died at the end, but it shows everyone was on the same wave length (for that match, at least).

Ranks are going to be hidden under the Skill Based Matchmaking test (as was always planned when the system goes live). It's actually a lot better to get feedback when ranks are hidden because Ranks are effectively meaningless for rating skill as the current ranking system is pretty much more about time.

Judge your matches by how they felt, how balanced they feel etc. Not going by the end result screen.

I've hit R1 on both sides and all, but I'm really looking forward to the removal of rankings.

The amount of topics/discussions/issues that get side-railed when people try to pull rank is unreal.

Try a new killer or fun build in the red ranks or have a bad game? - "LOL, THAT is a Rank 1 player? - Weak"

It's just one less metric for people to be toxic about.

I was giving an example of why I preferred to play safe instead of adding extra risk, it was pretty self-explanatory. If you want to read a perfect example then there it is (considering that you're not into 4Dchess and nitpicking). Slug crawls up to Nea, she stuns me or dead hard into next tile, then she would've picked up slugged person, they split up and depending on who I catch first, if it's Nea then she uses deliverance while other goes for unhook and vice versa where I hook a survivor with a key. One of them gets healed up (preferably the person who's dead on hook) and goes for unhook (considering if I hooked slugged person if it's Nea, she's just gonna deliverance). Then they complete a gen while I'm chasing someone, then they either get the second stage or die on hook (depending on who I'll get) if one of them dies, then they get 2 man hatch escape, 3 if I would've really screwed up and 1 If didn't play optimal and safe as the killer.

    Ok.

While I do agree with wholeheartedly, getting camped & tunneled sucks & I would do anything for them to change it for the better.

Removing killer agency is something that would probably (and substantially) decrease the game's population.

  • *looks at game's recent player milestones/consistent position in Steam's most played games on SteamDB/actual data*

Tunneling and Camping are really killing the game and driving players away!

Seems that the people complaining are actually in the minority, while the majority understand the game's objective and the options available to do so.

You see, the main difference on that loop was depending on whenever pallet is dropped or not. If I A. screwed up and got stunned, Nea would've picked up slugged person and even possibly get an unhook and then used key for 3 man hatch escape or B. using a dead hard and getting on the next tile. So in your POV, I shouldn't ensure that person on the hook dies and Nea stays in bad loop until I catch up to her thanks to bloodlust tier 3 (just in case if slugged person would've crawled to Nea and etc). Also, I love how everyone skips the point of this thread. Only thanks to bloodlust tier 3 I managed to get her safely, Nea played perfectly her part but still got killed because I was rewarded for bad play which is why in my opinion tier 3 should be removed.

Pretty hard to get a 3-man hatch escape when 4 gens are not completed and she's carrying a toolbox, but hey, we're all red ranks here.

    Dig deeper, friend.

  • Me?

I always message people before a game and ask them their skill.

As I own all consoles and a PC, I type their names into the friend requests on each one before EVERY SINGLE GAME.

If they never had enough BP in their last game (always make sure to ask about BP and not escapes bc they could have gotten the hatch and we all know that means they are immersed!), I'll dodge the lobby.

Sometimes it takes me days to get a suitable game, but hey *finger guns* THE CHEESE STANDS ALONE.

footage was recorded in purple/red ranks btw, so until you show me video footage of you perfectly running that loop as M1 killer without bloodlusting and playing against rank 1 survivor you won't convince me otherwise.

No one needs to convince you otherwise - They can form their own opinions.

You're the one that posted the video - Don't be surprised that people pick it apart given your topic and gameplay.

  • Think I broke my thumb with that Thumbs Down.

    1) As mentioned before, the game was already over, so BL doesn't matter.

    2) You ran the tile wrong and can get hits on that tile pretty easily.

    3) As that person was on their first hook and it took you soooooooooooo long to get a hit, you should have just let the slugged person bleed out before hooking her to pre-emptively counter Deliverance.

    4) Of course, a little touch of BM was added after a rather uninspiring performance.

It's a very strange tile to talk about bloodlust on and very sloppy play despite winning - had Nea waited before using Deliverance, she most likely would have gotten hatch.

  • @Firellius said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/271495/why-havent-the-devs-fixed-survivors-dcing-for-hatch

Because there's a flipside issue where the killer just downs survivor #3 and then hunts down survivor #4, effectively removing the hatch from the game. D/C is the only thing survivors have to fight back against this, and it's penalised anyway.

PULL THE PLUG, MOM - WE'RE FIGHTING BACK!

    Solid counterplay.

Your low post count indicates that you are new, so here's some advice:

-Regardless of what role you play/both, people will put words in your mouth/create false narratives/etc instead of actually addressing most of the things you post and/or any real issues.

-Play how you want at all times - You've already witnessed how people will attack your gameplay regardless of the facts/reality. It's generally best to ignore their statements and opinions, as they're not worth the paper they are printed on.

Welcome to the Forums - It's pretty good/useful most of the time, but it's nice that you experienced this kind of reply/frustration early on so you can keep it in mind for your future topics and conversations.

BHVR never said they are legit strategies they just said they aren't bannable. Hell, in the RE dev stream they even redacted that by saying some forms of camping and tunneling are gonna be autobannable. The reason being is because they're bannable offenses include keeping a player from playing the game, which is what facecamping and off hook tunneling 100% are. I play both sides equally and don't need to camp or tunnel to get 30k+ points. Don't even have to get 1 kill to get a perfect max point game. Same with survivor, can get max points and still die. You two sound like entitled killers that play the game just to be toxic...if you aren't getting 30k points on average as killer, you're not playing it right and probably camping and tunneling. Use the best perks for the killers abilities and there's no need to camp or tunnel ever. Most killers use BBQ, which to me is junk cause it deviates from applying gen pressure. Why go across map when that gen won't help you get the 3 gen you should be playing for. The good killers will let 3 or 4 gens go and outplay survivors on the last gen by forcing them to 3 gen themselves. That's REAL strategy and is how the game is truly meant to be played

"Hell, in the RE dev stream they even redacted that by saying some forms of camping and tunneling are gonna be autobannable."

Link(w/ timestamp), please - Sorry to ask, but you're clearly not here for honest conversation and I do not want to reply without seeing exactly what you're referencing, as I can almost guarantee that you're spinning your own biases into whatever was actually presented.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2401357#Comment_2401357

Most killers don't tunnel cause of gen pressure. Most killers tunnel because they have no understanding of the game's true killer strategies and because rank doesn't matter. Most campers/tunnelers are in brown or red ranks. Brown because they're new and red because they want to stay red and easiest way is to do least amount of work possible. Point of the game is NOT to kill everyone or do all gens as fast as possible but to get the most points possible from all aspects of the game. Since killers like to say camping and tunneling are legit strategies, which they aren't, BHVR should just create a mode for those players with no points given. Then they can camp and tunnel to their hearts content.

" Since killers like to say camping and tunneling are legit strategies, which they aren't, BHVR should just create a mode for those players with no points given."

Seems you are mistaking killer mains with the people that actually made the game - BHVR said that.

"....and red because they want to stay red and easiest way is to do least amount of work possible."

So they pip by tunneling/camping someone at Rank 1 (somehow winning multiple chases/defending gens/getting the required # of hooks - all required to pip) because they want to stay in the top ranks where the hardest games are that literally require more work to pip/safety pip than any other rank in the game? Makes perfect sense.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/271269/baby-killer-is-this-tunneling

I try to play killer in a way that allows fun for everyone, so I do my best to not camp or tunnel survivors and if they’re having a bad match I’ll even give them a chance to regroup.

Even so, I still get called a tunneller. I used to argue with people about it and try to get them to explain how I tunnelled and try to defend myself, but I’ve since realised that it’s a pointless endeavour because if someone FEELS like you tunnelled, then in their mind, you tunnelled. The circumstances are irrelevant. Facts are irrelevant. Them playing badly and running into your arms is irrelevant. You won’t convince them to change their minds.

So… I really wouldn’t worry about it. If you didn’t tunnel, then let them think what they want. And even if you did tunnel someone, even if you went out of your way to do it, oh well. It’s a game and they can get over it.

Your post count at this exact moment is 2345!

  • Don't waste your time or energy entertaining claims like this as it will only sink you deeper into the toxic/entitled sided of the community (both sides) and kill your overall enjoyment of the game.

If you're this concerned over a single match, imagine the mental fatigue you'll take in the high ranks, where people throw out excuses in at least half the games I play on either side.

Killer win chases by holding W and bloodlust. See how bad the "hold W" mentality is?

    Very poor rebuttal.

As killers build bloodlust, gens are being done.

Every tier of BL hit is 15s off a gen, with extremely weak killer players often relying on Tier 2-3 BL to score hits on strong tiles as BL1 still doesn't compensate for their inability to run said tile.

Killers that actually rely on BL often trade .5-1 (or more) gens for a down, depending on if they required BL for both hits.

Conversely, following someone that's just holding W is also giving survivors free time on gens (especially if the person you see is initially outside chase range) - if that is the only person in view and you decide not to commit, the time spent finding another is also additional time to crank out gens.

  • Much like camping, tunneling, infinites vs certain killers on certain maps, etc, it is not against the ToS or considered toxic by the devs (and, honestly, the sensible portion of the community).

Much like people that ask for the removal/punishment of camping/tunneling, you're just trying to remove player agency to curb a non-issue/acceptable behavior.

Cross platform doesn’t favor PC too much. Of course you have an advantage playing M&K compared to controller when you play killer, but you don’t go against other killers and for survivors it doesn’t really matter which input,

Lobby times differ from region and time of day obviously. But I think currently the queue times are great on both sides (central Europe)

cross Progression is at the time only available for Steam and Stadia, Switch will follow soon. The devs can’t confirm when or if it is ever available for PS and MIcrosoft platforms. (Maybe they have news on the anniversary stream on May 25th...)

Matchmaking will be changed to MMR, a hidden rank that’s different to the now used rank. It’s going to be killer specific, so if you are bad at Nurse but a great and phenomenal Wraith main, you should get paired skilled survs as Wraith but inexperienced survs as Nurse. (That’s also why you can’t change killer char after hitting ready). No date yet, there was a 24h long test in the live servers some weeks ago.

If cross progression between all platforms is announced, that will be a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE step in the right direction for the game.
