Now it's not even gonna be camping that gets you punished with BT. Now it's gonna be "Oops. I unintentionally stood 32 meters within the hook instead of 33. Guess they get a free health state." because most of the time they'll run at you with BT and DS, and you'll be the one punished for their stupid play.
BT will work across the map - The distance is irrelevant, now.

Yeah I especially hate how it works near exit gates. I feel like it should be nerfed that it automatically deactivates within a certain range of exit gates otherwise you get a free escape as well
It's better than DS now, imo - BT, that is.

Sweet.
Gonna log in for a few bully sessions to see how bad he is.

Anyone know how far away from the gate you have to be for "counting to 12" to be effective?

the purpose of the BT change was to counter stealth killers who it would not activate against. How hard is that for people to understand???
Apparently as hard as understanding the topic and scenario that you're replying to, or, worse still, the exact quote you're replying to.
I'd be much obliged if you could reiterate to me what you think my concern is along with a potential solution for the exact scenario.

It blows my mind how a few people are being wilfully ignorant or, worse yet, don't even understand the situation being presented.
This does not apply to the majority of replies, to be fair.

Isn't the new BT trigger always despite the killer being near or not? I didn't play the ptb so i don't know.
It is guaranteed to always trigger, now.

Would you suggest something more productive like opening the gates for sir/madam?
-
@DemonDaddy said:
You don't, free escape unless your far enough from the gate to wait it out.
This kind of ruins the dynamic/exciting aspect (on both sides) of going for that EGC save when the outcome is pretty much guaranteed, particularly against co-ordinated players.
The change overall seems like it could be ok/sensible, but this just seems like a legit boring scenario.
-
@OniWantsYourMacaroni said:
The only thing you can do is to go for the unhooker instead, which you should do anyway because of the DS
Unless I'm directly camping them, the unhooked person just takes the hit (unless I'm running an Insta Down killer).
I messed around with this in PTB (with some potato friends, at that), and it's dummy strong endgame.
-
I need to be honest...
DO NOT GIVE ONI YOUR LOCATION...IF YOU CAN ALREADY HEAR THE FOOTSTEPS/DRUMS, IT IS TOO LATE!
ALSO, DO NOT GIVE HIM YOUR MACARONI - MOM WORKED HARD TO COOK THAT >:3
-
Zero reason not to run new BT - It has no requirement and no downsides.
-
If you can make any hook a safe unhook, should it be used as a factor in MMR calculation?

I'm a demo main, I'll just say i'd be deeply saddened if rat liver is removed in the rework, and everyone agrees it should have been put in basekit.
The problem with demo is that pretty much 90% of his addons focused on his portals instead of his chase power, and from that 10% its literally just the miss cooldown which forgives new bad players, the only one that actually allowed for fun unoppressive chases with high rank survivors was the rat liver, I pray to god it remains a thing or the devs consider implementing it base-kit.
If Rat Liver is removed/nerfed, most people will never pick Demo again - He'll be dead.

If the perk is to prevent tunneling the person off the hook, why do you allow it to be used aggressively like DS to give an extra health state to the rescuer?
Why not make the rescued survivor lose collision so he remains safe without allowing abuse of the perk? This would even buff the perk for anti-tunneling as it even protects them from chain hits like a Bubba saw.
The flashbacks commence

Ow man I'm main Nurse, keeping track of surv is so vital so much more than the other regular killers, this Lucky Break buff is worrying me, sure it has to be buffed, but not that way :s
Oh yeah, that is hurtin'
Lucky Break + Iron Will + Dead Hard = LOL NURSE :(
-
@DoomedMind said:
You know that it is so strong that this perk will be the new DS meta, right ?
That every hot surv from your games will bring Iron Will / Lucky Break / Dead Hard / [Adrenaline or Unbreakable or Prove Thyself or Borrowed Time] ?
And that the combo Iron Will / Lucky Break will makes killers have to run Spies from the Shadow or Stridor every game ?
I think this is bad for the meta. Killing the invincibility perk aka old DS created a lot of fun builds out there, and Lucky Break will destroy that.
Or just run Freddy with his add-ons that now counter both Iron Will and Lucky Break without sacrificing a perk slot.
If Lucky Break remains as is, Freddy will become even more abundant than he is now.

It's a day 1 Meta-Lock.
I'd imagine it will be changed within the month.

Your statemant bad and dumb
You dont need to break the rules to be an #########, i can tbag to you and i still not breaking the rules, this is kind of obviusly and you probably already know that it isnt like that that life works, but you guys on this forum likes to lie to try to prove an point, dont you?
I will said again, it is wrong to put your fun over the others, the diference is that in dbd we have a lot of kids like you, that like to justify their selfish acts
I never complained about the game, cuz the devs dont have any fault on having people like you and they cant do anithing about it
You can, hypothetically, teabag and click your flashlight all day if you want - It has no effect on me.
I'm not sure where the lies are, but I'd sure be obliged if you would show me.
I am also sorry to be the one to tell you, but even in real life (which you seem to enjoy comparing this video game to, for some reason), people are free to do things that you disagree with / negatively impact you so long as they are not breaking any laws.
Why would the devs care about people that are breaking the rules? YOU are the person that has an issue with them.
Sadly, I'm gonna have to double down on my previous comment regarding reading and comprehension, as well as adding that no one needs to pander to your whims either online or offline.

I didnt understanted? did i read something wrong
For me is very clear, he said that its normal to put your fun over others, i replied, you sayed that its ok this behaviour cuz it isnt breaking the rules, and i said that it isnt something about the rules, and yes about being respectful
If you're not breaking the rules, you ARE being respectful towards all players (this includes post-game chat on PC as it is covered in the rules/EULA).
Your personal expectations and biases have no influence on this fact, nor does any enjoyment you may or may not obtain from any given match.
Telling someone else to leave the game because of your personal expectations is rather infantile, particularly when they have done nothing wrong.
Sucks they don't play the way that YOU want, but if you can't handle player autonomy in this or any other game, it doesn't give you a right to debase or belittle others.
Of course, if YOU do not like the game's design or rules, YOU are free to leave at any time.

It can be countered, that's the whole point!
Getting tunnelled is mostly the result of making mistakes and making yourself a target. The cases when it's not are the minority, and are obvious, because the killer is facecamping.
Survivors job is to survive, not run in front of the thing that's trying to kill you.
Stop. Blaming. Killers. For. Your. Mistakes.
They said they died 8 games in a row in another thread...all due to tunneling...
No items/DS/Healing Perks (self)/Exhaustion Perks in the posted build from their "Give me a toxic build" post.
People posted the builds they have success with (I posted my solo ez pip build), but they're just either bad or unwilling to adapt at this point.

It really is! It's one of my favorite survivor perks out there, it's really good for toolboxes and med-kits.
I always use it for those "Deplete X item" challenges.
Guaranteed at least 2 per game :3

Perks: Spine Chill, Resilience, Dead Hard, and Built to Last.
Item and Add-ons: Engineer's Toolbox with a Brand New Part and Wire Spool.
Offering: A map offering of your choice (preferably Strode Realty Key for Haddonfield) or just none at all
Spine Chill for info and extra vault speed along with Resilience which not only gives vault speed but faster gen repair time when injured. Dead Hard to handle being injured, Engineer's Toolbox for super repair speeds along with BNP and Wire Spool, and Built to Last as the cherry on top to compliment that toolbox.
Honestly you can just use DH and BtL and switch out the other two with whatever you'd like.
Built to Last is surprisingly funzo.
-
On topic, I just use
Second Wind//WMI/Lithe/BT(or Kindred)
I don't use items or anything - Usually safety or single pip in Red Ranks pretty easily with this build as Second Wind + WMI is a surprisingly good engine.
If you aim for 2 gens/2 unhooks/2 heals/2 good chases, you'll pip!
Good luck :3

Decent players don't use it to make you miss hits. Decent players use it to get to pallets and windows for free and extend loops. It's a simple matter to bait it out in a dead zone; just hug the survivor's back until they use it. Trivial.
It's a different matter entirely when you're playing vs. a good survivor, you finally get them to make a mistake and they dead hard to the next vault. Multiply that by four and you have a recipe for a real unfun time.
For sure.
Dead Hard "for distance" is one of the only things in the game without a counter (barring exhaustion add-ons, which are all on "the block.").

- That's on the survivor who unhooked you for the unsafe hook rescue.
- It's a common (and sometimes necessary) tactic for the killer to eliminate one survivor ASAP so that they're not dealing with 4 survivors at endgame, as that's a no-win situation.
- Don't be the first one to get caught. You have the ability to hide and play stealthy.
- Someone is always going to be first. Chalk it up to dumb luck instead of getting triggered. If it's happening to YOU every match, recognise the common denominator.
If someone is the first person to die eight games in a row, they should probably review their gameplay.
-
What about them?
Are you ok?
-
Multiple topics (I've made a few myself) exist about this switch - Devs refuse to even comment or explain why they aren't willing to change/even acknowledge the issue.
It's not going to be changed (or even acknowledged) in the near future and, most likely, never will.

It's true, the killers shouldn't have to consider it, but BHVR definitely should. And I'd wager that if you were playing poker or basketball with friends, you wouldn't play in a toxic way. Somehow because of the anonymity of the internet bad manners becomes ok. It's too bad.
You can see it in the Steamcharts, this game isn't invincible the online players are less than half of what they were a year ago. When BHVR messed with the animations and the hitboxes in the previous update the online players plummeted. There's a lesson to learn here, both sides need to be enjoying the game or the game will cease to be.
Seems like people are thoroughly enjoying the game as of late.

I haven´t noticed any diference in my red rank solo matches.
But feel free to play killer, if you don´t like the tunneling. We desperately need killers right now, because the survivor queues are kinda long. Even after the DS nerf.
Game plays exactly the same for me, too - Although I'm usually in the Red Ranks on both sides, I will admit that I am pretty bad T_T
-
@Nos37 said:
It's honsetly too late; the damage has been done.
What I mean by that is, as others have stated here on the forums, Decsive Strike's ability to deter the killer was mostly psychological. Now that killers see the 5s stun as a minor nuissance, they will continue to tunnel this hard, even if the devs went as far as to make DS the way it was before All-Kill.
For such a 'damaging,' change, I find it pretty strange that the review scores for the game skyrocketed since All-Kill.
The massive amount of distance gained from even holding Shift-W after DS should be enough to deter a killer - It's usually enough time to reach a loop or structure, which in turn helps against killers that have higher mobility/ranged powers (except for a decent Nurse, probably).
If you use DS and go down like a sack of potatoes - That's on you.
If you use DS and loop well/get to a position of safety, that's on the killer - You've played well, cost them the hook state they would have had without DS, and cost them an additional chase's worth of time (assuming you chase well).
Whenever I see someone talk about how the DS head-start is insignificant, it just makes me think:
Math...Not even once - The distance is pretty significant in my experience.
-
@Volcz said:
Well if tunneling off unhook is an issue to you to the point of making this thread, I suggest running DS.
But to be fair, you also made a lot of mistakes. You're playing against Spirit who can hear your grunts and possibly even see your pools of blood. You had time to sneak away both times unhooked. 1st you run to the building which is pretty predictable as its the main building, instead of running backwards and around the car wreckage. 2nd unhook, you made the right call but you jumped on a gen and alerted her that you were there. You gotta be way more stealthy against a spirit. Its not just about running around and doing gens.
It does suck that she decided to do this to you, but she most likely figured you were the easiest kill target/weakest player on the team + you were already injured and none of your teammates took aggro off of you. It happens from time to time I guess, but its not like you did yourself any favors the way you played either.
Very, very weak chases coupled with very poor decision making.
To be completely honest, if that was me, I'd probably let him/her play the entire game after second hook - With the chase after 1st unhook lasting literally 7 seconds, he/she not even dropping the pallet or looping, and then walking into the wall, I'd assume it was a new player.
