Others being bad in my team shouldnt be my responsibility, no
You're the one on death hook, attempting to unhook someone while injured, and demanding heals from the freshly unhooked survivor.
You're the one refusing to bring perks or items to mitigate the scenario, placing the blame squarely on others.
This feels like Dunning-Kruger in action.
-
If I may be honest, it seems like the issue is that you don't want to take responsibility for your own gameplay, which is especially ironic if you're playing Solo.
-

So one more perk to add to solo Q so you can deal with your team mates, and not related to dealing with the killer. That's exactly what everyone is trilled about and asking for.
Yes.
The item/perk would be for your own benefit.
Still not sure what's preventing you from bringing either - Med Kit also uses zero perk slots, if that's your main concern.
-

I can be at red ranks perkless, doesn't mean it will be a pleasant experience.
It's not fun to lose not because of your lack of skill, but because you have selfish team mates or some who are way too bad to be there in the first place.
It has all to do with solo Q, because my thread is about solo Q.
And what's stopping you from bringing a med kit or healing perk in Solo?
-
@Marigoria said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2068661#Comment_2068661
Because as someone who plays solo Q, I already have 2 perk slots with perks that are already mandatory for solo Q like Kindred and Bond.
Should we all just play SWF so we're able to use other builds without needing to care about all these conditions that solo Q falls behind?
You saying players wont cater to me, means 0. Discussions happen so things can be changed and balanced. I know a lot of people on this forum forget that solo Q exist and thinks everyone is a sweaty 4 men SWF, but that is far from reality.
Like survivors didnt need to cater to killers by not abusing DS, but they did and it got nerfed.
Discussions happen so things can change, not so people can shrug it off and say "it happens"
I primarily play solo.
I'm not sure how your rant about SWF or the fact that you're erroneously stating Kindred and Bond are mandatory in solo relate to my point - People can hang in solo queue at the Red Ranks perkless.
You can bring whatever perks you want and play with who/what you want - it's not relevant to my points regarding the position of weakness that you're in to be forced into that scenario, nor the fact that the situation can be avoided every game if you plan your loadout accordingly.
You choose your loadout and when to unhook that person - Said person doesn't need to/may not be able to heal you if you choose to unhook them from a weak position.
-

Just because someone isnt being tunneled doesn't mean they will heal me, just because they still want to have the full time of their DS. How is this so hard to understand?
If this is an issue for you, what prevents you from bringing a perk or Medkit to heal yourself?
My whole build is literally based around unhooking and healing (using Second Wind/We'll Make It).
It works great in the Red Ranks. Since the new patch, there have only been 2 games that I have not pipped in.
There are perks and items that literally patch the exact hole in your gameplay that you're hypothesizing about.
The game isn't going to change for you.
Players aren't going to cater to you in game.
If you're not going to do either and make a hook save as an injured player, you're simply playing from a weaker position (whether they have DS or not).

Read the thread.
Edited because I'm not gonna bother.

I didn’t dodge anything, ignoring you isn’t dodging. Just means I don’t have any interest in further discussing with you. I’ll gladly engage with someone else though if I feel they are worth my time.

For sure.

If I don’t reply it is simply because I have no desire to continue a conversation with players who are obviously biased towards one side that no matter what is said, they can’t even for one second forget which side they main.
None of what you said in that reply applies to what I was talking about. None.
We’ve gone from one extreme “abusing DS” to the other “You can’t heal for 1 second or touch a gen for 1 second” or you lose your deactivation timer. It would have been more meaningful if they actually address the core of the problem why this perk was even changed to what it is now.
Meanwhile, Tunneling Camping and Slugging remain the same. Same a usable actions with no downside whatsoever, but sure let’s keep on adding more conditions to DS. What’s next? Playing a certain character deactivates DS, oh no I got a better one, spawning in the map deactivates DS. Yeah that one ought to do it.
I've been maining survivor as of late - there are pictures in my recent post history showing my current survivor and killer ranks.
Save your keystrokes - Dude's resorting to 'biased killer main' rhetoric now @_@

That does appear to be the primary issue.
Old ds was there for you whenever you needed it, no thought required.
New ds has to be managed like any other "second chance" perk. You have to know not only how to capitalize on the stun, but when to try and keep it, vs when to leave it alone and take the hook.
It's among one of the most ignorant reactions I've seen to a change in any game I've played.
-
@Boss said:
Probably will sound like bias from a pure Killer player, but i like that you now have to choose between the security of DS and the progress of (additional) objectives.
And though i only play Killer, when i didn't i liked the thrill of Survivor.
It's not really thrilling to have security and prevent regression with 1 tap.
The perk now requires more situational awareness and its misuse/inability to use now falls squarely on survivor decision making/agency.
If you cut all the foolish nonsense about how gen tapping shouldn't count as progression (lol) out of this topic, people are literally knowingly deactivating their DS within its active time frame and then complaining that said deactivation has lead them to a position of weakness/losing.
It's pretty amusing, as it exposes a crazy lack of game sense and understanding regarding new DS.

If you're not healthy, have DS up, work on something, and get downed 5 seconds later?
Yeah, that's totally on you for not getting to an advantageous position or the healthy state before intentionally performing an action that you KNOW will deactivate your DS.
I'd hate to be the one to break it to you - The reason DS was nerfed was because it DIDN'T de-activate in scenarios like this and several others that provided free progression without repercussion. Try looking at what the survivor is doing/did before jumping to the same old tired responses. The killer downed someone that was unhooked within the last minute whose DS has been deactivated prematurely - How would that occur?
Glad you're entertained, though - That's certainly one way to feel about this dialogue @_@

Its like i wrote something about face camping is toxic and you cant do anything about it as a solo players. Then i had a killer main saying yea i hate it when survivors t-bag and flashlight click its so toxic. like lmao they gain distance on t bags etc. killer mains are unstable and shouldnt have their opinion even considered before they play survivor and has the same thing happen to them

Why aren't you helping them when you see them get tunneled? You don't have to be in any sort of swf to see a teammate getting chased and either try a save or at least to take the protection hit so they can make the next loop.
Survivor queues are long because there are less and less people willing to play killer. Balancing the game around the worst Survivors would be the best way to make sure that trend continues unabated.
@Crypticghoul said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2064960#Comment_2064960
Sure your argument works for coordinated SWFs but regardless of the match result the amount of people I see just get run down off hook and removed around 3-4 gens left just because they are the "weak link" in solo queue is just wrong. They barely get to play the game and survivor queues are so bad at night that they probably wait like 7-10 minutes for that experience.
I play solo-queue mostly - Completely altruistic build (aside from Lithe).
I protect my teammates, heal them up (which also benefits me), and just have a good time, usually, regardless of how my teammates or the killer play.
Crazy, I know.
Random aside....been getting really good returns on Second Wind....even though it falls apart due to tunneling/bad saves - Guess I'm just lucky ;3

Ok. I agree, sometimes you can be rescued, get where you think you are safe, and get hit... So? What exactly makes that different from old ds? Y'all are acting like the sky is falling over nothing.
As for your example of actual game play. You hooked a survivor, they got free and managed to progress a gen, so you weren't tunneling, why should they still get the benefit of the anti-tunnel perk?
Guess they're saying that if you don't get tunneled, can't get to an advantageous position or healed within that 60s window (which is now a huge part of DS' function...it is no longer 'free'), and opt to do something else as a priority instead, it's on the killer / not their misplay?
It's amusing to see someone complaining about the perk being easy to counter when it functions the same versus tunneling. Perhaps this is the birth of the 'proxy' tunnel.
Oh, before I forget, gotta tag Johnny!

By this do you mean the op, or the one you have commented?
And whilst I'd agree, it's not gaslighting.
I think you mean strawmaning.
Gaslighting
verb
gerund or present participle: gas-lighting
manipulate (someone) by psychological means into doubting their own sanity.
"in the first episode, Karen Valentine is being gaslighted by her husband"
Strawman
an intentionally misrepresented proposition that is set up because it is easier to defeat than an opponent's real argument.
"her familiar procedure of creating a straw man by exaggerating their approach"
Just for future reference. So you don't use wrong terminology and then get screamed at for it.
I'll edit it to say "strawmanning."
Hope you still love DBD :3

Nah, I'd say the one "part of the problem" are the people, like you, who spew obvious lies and use them as the base for their whole reasoning.
What should I wast time reading a whole post built uppon a very easily proven lie?
And yaknow what? I'm pretty sure my math may have thought you something that you may not have realized before : YES, DS is god damn strong and will totally screw the killer, and NO it's not "just 5 seconds".
Check my post history for an interesting dialogue with this user regarding camping/tunneling that's seasoned with a light sprinkle of strawmanning after intentionally misrepresenting several of my posts.
It's very hard for me to give any serious consideration to their topics/claims after that interaction.

According to you, I just make all these things up in my mind.
Considering that I'm not the only one dealing with these things, that must mean my thoughts become reality. I fancy your logic there.
Once again, that's not what was said. Those things certainly exist(as I've acknowledged in a previous reply to you), but whatever conditions/rules you have conjured up about them do not exist within the context and rules of the game.
If you can somehow show me that your feelings override these facts, I'm more than willing to listen, but I'm assuming I'll be reading another intentionally facetious reply in about 6 minutes - On the plus side, you're adding some real gems to your history.

No one said that, but it's pretty clear you're being facetious in a vain attempt to validate:
"If I see someone being camped or tunneled or slugged, I know they didn't lose. They're being punished for existing. And if someone feels the need to punish you for existing, that means you won."
Sorry that you have trouble accepting a loss in a video game.

Oh no! Someone lets out their anger instead of keeping it bottled up? THE HORROR!
That's part of the game - It's literally the game's 'losing' state.
You're describing something that can occur every game. Regardless of your personal feelings towards these things, they are both literally the 'losing' states of the game, with defeat occurring at death.
You ready up every game knowing this - If you really hate these things, which are a permanent part of core gameplay, the solution is pretty obvious.
No one is going to redesign the game because you can't handle losing (fairly, I may add, unless they are breaking the ToS somehow) and didn't get the opportunity to recover from this position.

Too late, purple windstorm basekit next patch. The developers are balancing around 4 man meta SWF instead of your average solo Q game.
According to them, the game is ~95% solo Q and ~5% SWF. And I bet even less of that is meta SWF. So let’s balance around met SWF.
Red rank killer is a massacre, and what other game can you see killers regularly going on 50+ win streaks? It’s unheard of. These guys would be slain in a real competitive game such as League, Apex, CoD, etc but it’s total domination in DBD.
95% solo queue according to the Devs?

I'm actually shaken by the fact that they used so many words to not only say literally nothing of value, but also to demonstrate their ignorance regarding the game as a whole, statistics, and, apparently, the consensus of most killer streamer mains.
Seems like a pretty weak attempt at both a personal attack and seeming 'smart,' especially given their apparent inability to understand how the term 'volatile' was used in the post they replied to.
