The gate is also blocked for a moment if Charlotte downs the survivor with Victor attached to allow for pick-up.

No one seems to play any other killer but huntress huntress huntress! the unskilled garbage ranged killer that waits for you at pallets and hits you anyways because of dedicated servers. I dced and took a 6 hour queue ban, i'd rather wait 6 hours then play against garbage like that. if BHVR is incompetent enough to not fix Nurse bugs for years, then this will not change, their only primary focus is releasing chapters and rehashed skins no one asked for. Inb4 Corporate Whiteknight comes in my discussion.
Please define "Corporate Whiteknight."

If it's a constant/medium issue for you as Trickster, your only real recourse is to sacrifice a perk in your build for Brutal Strength (and Fire-Up if you want to get crazy) and eat through as many pallets as you can before mid-late game.
As mentioned before, the pallet animation gives you some free knives, but if you're off their screen/at a high wall, it's a moot point.
BS (w or w/o FU) helps alleviate some of this and put you back in LoS before decay begins if you're able to keep up with the survivor from pallet to pallet (assuming you've landed some knives during the chase - If you haven't, you may just want to break 1-2 pallets as they are dropped and move on).
Depending on the map state/tile, you may want to try forcing the survivor to reverse their looping/pathing direction before breaking certain pallets to push them back into 'used' zones. If you are able to find success with either of these (you may not be able to depending on the ma/map state), they will also allow you to provide additional pressure from easier hooks, as well, as you'll be winning chases faster and have additional opportunities to patrol/thwart the rescue.
It's also worth noting that certain breakable walls should be insta-broke as you encounter them to other unsightly scenarios for Trickster - BS helps with this as well.
From a survivor perspective, it makes sense to pre-drop vs him as there is no downside to taking less than max laceration and laceration may decrease more reliably when you have to break/have no clear angles/walls are high, etc.
Survivors want to delay knife hits as much as possible due to the laceration mechanic - Placing an immovable (barring breaking) obstacle between you is a smart play.

If only people would do that. I try to avoid giving people ######### in EGC no matter HOW they acted during the match (might make an exception for a hacker or someone who's trying to grieve teammates or something). I've had plenty of cases of getting BM in game where the killer would Puke on me with Plague for 2 minutes straight as I die on first hook or something. Maybe its because I play solo Q as survivor, but I typically just leave rather than wait around to talk trash. Those people who DC in the first 2 minutes, then wait around to unleash a rant when the game ends 10 minutes later are something else...
I'm mostly solo, too :)
I'll sometimes stay if I get camped or tunneled out and the game was interesting or gets interesting to watch it play out, but it's never to abuse or criticize the player's game. If I'm in the endgame chat, the most people will get out of me is 'gg' or 'gg lol'. If I notice something that could help a player's current build (on either side), I may say so, which sometimes starts a constructive discussion.
If someone camps/tunnels me or, as I recently found out, last item switches, it all falls within intended design, so I'll treat it as such. For real, an inability to do so seems to point towards an inflated sense of entitlement/inability to accept reality in an unbiased manner.
Lately, in game/on forums/reddit/etc, most people seem to be adopting better mindsets and just enjoying the matches for what they are, regardless of the outcome - There's no real stakes, so whatever :)
People that bash other people or are abusive/toxic in chat/forums/etc most likely have way bigger issues to work on with their gameplay and themselves, but are using these outlets/outbursts to deflect from the real issue.

Debate.
Killers can’t currently swap to a different killer once in a lobby - I’m assuming this is due to MMR? - so if we see a 4 medkit lobby we can’t switch to Plague, or if we see flashlights we can’t switch off of Hag. If it’s due to MMR (which I personally think is a bad idea) then so be it…
However, survivors can do last-second swaps such as (Example) from Meg with no item to a Nea with Purple Flashlight, or a Claudette with a Medkit and instaheal. This can be timed so the killer has zero time to prepare in case they want to bring Franklin’s, Sloppy, etc…
My personal opinion is that survivors should at least be locked into their character and item once in a lobby. Perks and add-ons can continue to be swapped around, of course.
Hi!
You replied in my previous thread - Sorry if that bumped yours down.
I just wanted to tag you to let you know that a mod has spoken on the issue in case you never saw it.
It may not be the answer that you had hoped to see, but at least knowing the stance, we can all adjust our mindsets and move on :)
Edited to say that I won't be replying or speaking on the topic anymore unless there are any changes announced.
Appreciated your contributions in the thread :)

Stumbled across a video in my feed today and figured it was actually pretty good for a discussion. From what I got from this was alot of cases where survivors lack awareness of whats going on or WHY a killer might act like they do, and instead resort to the typical Tunneling/camping name calling. These folks were streamers, so THEIR reactions are caught live as opposed to limited to just written EGC abuse. As for the youtuber, some of his videos are just kinda meh so I dont wanna bother getting into a discussion on HIM per say, but he DOES have afew good points in this video.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tiaMwniIVtU
Feel like the first clip with the Huntress is a pretty good example of what I'm talking about with people yelling "camping" while the killer is actively chasing a survivor.
Good watch.
It seems very hard for some people to accept reality, leave a gg, and move on.

It’s not about “caring”; I don’t expect players to care about the enjoyment of others. That’s the game developer’s job - to make the game as fair as possible. Obviously an asymmetrical game is much harder to balance than games like COD but they can certainly try.
I really think they do try, to the best of their ability, it just doesn't always line up with what some people perceive to be 'good' for the game.

If you're looking for just a message to the devs, the forums is not where to go. Forums are for discussion with the DBD fanbase as a whole rather than a closed message with an individual. Feel free to fill out a ticket or write an email. This would be like wanting to talk to the mayor of your city about a perceived issue, but rather than going to city hall... you scream into a megaphone at a busy intersection and hope he hears you and comes running to answer your question.
Thank you - I have submitted a ticket on the issue, but I am also aware that the Devs have no issue clarifying/responding to questions regarding their printed rules and EULA on the forums (in most cases).

Every game has a leave button, even genuine competitive games have a leave option, what exactly is your point here? You can't just lock people into a game it's just mechanically dense to not have a leave option.
Agree 100%
It's also redundant to not have one when dashboarding/alt-f4/task manager exist.

I think you need to put Plague, Leatherface, and Nurse in the 'Not Bald' section.
Plague is a bit tricky, but:

There is literally an in game option to "leave this match". A button they have programmed for you to press.
The in game punishment is a deterrent. Not a ban for "breaking the rules".
Maybe you're confused, it's forcing a DC while loading into the game that's not allowed, as that bypasses the DC ban and prevents a depip.
The issue with your post is that you are implicitly stating that you're doing it to grief, particularly because of the 3x BPS.
Regardless of your views on the topic at hand, this behavior is not cool.

Survivors get 0 info when going into their match, how are they supposed to have any idea what you're running exactly? =/
this is a vice versa thing, both sides don't care what the other is running, I've not ran DS for years and that just encourages the killer to tunnel me off hook when I'm third hook bc they know I have no defense.
I don't see the relevancy or point you're trying to make, when the game's clear and intended design is to show the survivors in the lobby to allow the killer to prepare their loadout accordingly due to the asymmetrical nature of the game.
Unless you're trying to argue that this isn't the case. If so, the floor is yours to explain why it isn't.
I'm also not sure why you're throwing out an anecdote about DS into this discussion, but if you need to run it...um....run it?

When I play as Wraith, I will dodge 4 flashlight lobbies. 1 or 2 I could handle, but all four you know will be a coordinated SWF.
So of course I get a match where all four survivors switch to flashlights at 6 seconds. Waited until the game loaded in, after I saw that they played 3 party streamers, and immediately DCed.
If you get to play scummy then so do I. (I was losing a pip either way so nothing lost)
Now I always hold at "are you sure you want to leave the match" so I can quickly hit confirm at 6 seconds if I need to.
Please don't advocate for things on the forum that are explicitly against the game rules.
You should edit your post because people can (and will) report it as such.

MMR (per killer character) doesn’t really benefit killers unless they’re trying to learn a high skill floor killer like Nurse.
Other than that, it’s just meant to put killers you’re good at versus sweaty survivors.
Still doesn’t change the fact that a survivor can cuck a killer’s build by last second switching. For example, if a lobby has 4 flashlight-equipped survivors and the killer decides to put on Lightborn, the survivors can switch off last second to medkits and now the killer is playing with 3 perks. See how annoying that can be?
It's not their problem that you're playing with 3 perks - Why would they (the quick switcher) care?
That's the mindset you're going to encounter.

I've never needed to change my build based on survivor items, and I can't even remember the last time I saw anyone last second switch.
Just seems like people looking for another way to punish survivors.
Your anecdotal experience does not address the question/concern of the person you're replying to.

What item are you bringing that you don’t want the killer to know about?
Keys, flashlights w/o worrying about Franklin's/Lightborn, Medkits to complement builds/self sustain w/o worrying about Sloppy or Franklin's, Toolboxes with BNP to save for a late game gen w/o worrying about Franklin's (also applies to sabo builds), etc.
If I can bring it in without the killer having a chance to adjust or counter accordingly, why not?
-
@Rey_512 said:
I definitely consider this to fall under the definition of “abusing… errors in design to gain a competitive advantage”.
You abuse the fact that the killer can’t change their build once the countdown is locked in, accomplished by the “last second switch”.
As seen in the previous post, it's clear that not everyone feels this way.
That's why it is important to get clarification!
I certainly wouldn't want to gain the competitive advantage from doing this every game without concrete clarification!
I'll do it every single game if they say it is allowed, but on the flip side, if they say it is frowned upon, I'll avoid doing it in the future!

I certainly did, thank you!
I just need a mod/dev to clarify that by not giving the other side a chance to react in kind (as it is 100% impossible) that I'm not:
EXPLOITS: ABUSING BUGS OR ERRORS IN DESIGN TO GAIN A COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE
I certainly appreciate your assistance, but my mind will not be at ease until I get a dev or mod to clarify this to me.

Is it at all fun, fair, and gives the other side a chance to react? No, but from this post I'm guessing you just want to make a statement to the devs as if we haven't been complaining about this for years.
I'm directly asking the people that make the rules if it's allowable within the game's rules/what they would consider fair play.
I have no problem abiding by their answer, either way, when they choose to reply.
It's a simple question about the game rules and mechanics, so I'm sure I won't need to wait too long for a reply.

Nice to see the dogpiling in this community is still a defining factor.
-
Most Killer perks are designed around tracking, slowdown, endgame, and rewarding 'fair play' - ie BBQ/MYC/DH
Most Survivor perks are based around survivability/positional knowledge/repair/bursts of advantage in chase.
You, like many people on the forum, are trying to compare perks designed to fulfill the specific needs of each side to each other.
They're generally not comparable (imho, of course), and comparisons usually occur when someone's argument is so weak/game view so skewed that they need to resort to strawmanning perks on the other side to 'prove a point.'

This isn't about me, so I'd ask that you keep it on the topic, thanks. Going to a common fallacy (appeal to accomplishment, specifically) isn't going to make your point look good. My point still stands, that 5 years after this game has come out, it still has an insane number of glaring issues that are known about and not being addressed. Or, if I were to give the benefit of the doubt, they're being addressed at a snail's pace. With all the success you claim BVHR has had, especially this year, you'd think those resources could go into hiring more people for Q/A, programming, or something else that could add additional value to the game's long term health.
However, rather than acknowledging my argument, you've instead decided to deflect my criticism by saying "Oh but the game is showing growth, so clearly what you're saying doesn't hold water. Why don't you apply and do better?" Yeah, that's not going to work here.
I'm fairly certain that I imply in my first sentence that the issues you feel are pressing or endemic aren't seen as such by a majority, and also touch on the fact that any competition has swiftly died, which is totally strange when going up against a game that's apparently going to die if 'competition' looks its way.
I most likely could have used a better framing device, for sure.
I don't need to argue with you or prove anything, given the reality of the situation and state/popularity of the game.
Edited to add - In the interest of complete transparency, I do think that their previous gen optimization issues should be a larger priority.
-
@BadMrFrosty said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2441989#Comment_2441989
The people who care the most bleat the loudest. BVHR has had 5 years to fix several glaring issues, and it hasn't been done in that time. Indeed, they seem stuck in a time loop that requires them to take a step back for each step forward. If only my job gave me a 5 year window to fix serious problems, holy #########. That'd be heaven.
Of course, we all know that it doesn't work that way in most places. But hey, that's cool - it's going to take a Blizzard tier wake up for them to do anything, lacking competition and all. It's just a shame it's gotten here.
Yes - The issues are so endemic that the game has been saddled with the burden of continuous growth since Beta.
Given that this was their most successful year in terms of player count (and most likely financially) 5 years into the game, perhaps you should drop off a resume and show them what they're doing wrong/how it's done.
Better still, why not fire off a resume to one of the companies that attempted to compete and folded like a sheet of paper?
I am sure your insight and input, as well as your stellar attitude, will be valuable assets :3

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2441612#Comment_2441612
You're exactly right.
I believe the main reason why players get emotional about tunneling / camping is that you don't really get to play the game. If the killer wants you dead, you're going to die because the killer is supposedly 400% stronger than the survivor. Unless the killer you're facing is inexperienced, thus leveling the playing field, you're fighting a losing battle. The best you can do is put as much resistance to it as possible, so that your team can get generators done and escape.
For sure.
Lots of stuff can feel oppressive or lame on either side, but it's all part of the game.
To be completely honest, if I never ever had sweaty killers/survivors and everyone played super nice/it was enforced (ie 3 hook everyone, no saboteur, no tunneling, no bodyblocking, no taking advantage of certain maps, etc), I'd uninstall from shear boredom.
I appreciate every single player and playstyle I encounter, even though I vent at times :3
I also really like, personally, when I'm dominating as killer or surv and it seems like an easy win but the other side switches to try hard mode and does what needs to be done.
-
@NMCKE said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2441591#Comment_2441591
That's not the point, my point is that you can't make a killer NOT tunnel. Literally the first paragraph, you know what I meant. You can literally spoon feed the killer a down in someone's place, but if the killer is determined for that survivor, even if you're on death hook, they will ignore you and go for the survivor they wanted.
I just don't like how players are pretending that you can prevent tunneling.
You can't without removing player agency and killing the game.
Tunneling and camping are not as endemic to the game's health as people claim, as the game continues to thrive.
People get emotional over it because it generally stems from them being unable to recover from the game's 'losing' state (on an individual level).
The same is true for killers that take flashlight saves, sabos, bodyblocking, DS,etc personally - sucks that you lost your down/hook, but survivors can and should be able to play how they want.
-
@NMCKE said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2440636#Comment_2440636
There's only so much you can do through, I saw that this one person was about to die if they were hooked again. Me being nearby, took two protection hits, the first one injuring me and the second one putting me into the dying state. The carried survivor wiggled free, but the killer didn't want to pick me up and take the free hook I literally just gave them. Therefore, it's not the survivor's fault for something that the killer choices, can't make a horse drink water.
By the way, my definition of tunneling is where the killer gives one survivor attention. They don't attempt to harm other survivors, they are only interested in getting one survivor out of the game ASAP. Some killers have their own way of tunneling while others will be relentless about it. However, it's not against the rules, just don't be upset if you get a negative reaction because from the start, you felt the need to ruin that survivor's experience. I'm not talking about strategic tunneling, I'm talking about whoever you first find — you made sure they didn't play the game. Don't get butt hurt if they are aggravated because I'd be too, especially if this has been a common occurrence for me.
The killer made the correct play assuming they were able to hook that survivor.

You don't consider yourself on their level (or above) because you "envy" them. A quick story..Before i came a "top player" in fighting games there were other players that i played and "beat" and i didn't really know who they were until after when the people at the arcade told me. I honestly didnt care who they were, i knew how good i was and i wanted to win so "names" didnt mean much to me because in order to be a top player i first had to beat these high level fighting game players and eventually became a top name myself. Otz and Dowsey (not disrespect to them) are not special! They along with all of us who play at rank 1 are the same as everyone else. Theres no way you can measure how good you are as a killer vs other killers in this game because theres no stats, leaderboards etc and theres no challenge aspect to DBD to find this out so your just downplaying yourself. Yeah you can say x person is better than me but that doesnt really apply to DBD because there are way too many variables to determine this.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2424025#Comment_2424025
I know all this but this is NOT creating balance. A balance matchmaking is having all red ranks go against a rank 1 or 2 killer and vice versa with no in between. I'm not going to accept that because that's not what i believe/feel. Ranks very much do matter and the 3 years that i've played this game i've seen why.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2424051#Comment_2424051
Its easy to get to rank 1 with killer because the matchmaking has always been bad.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2424069#Comment_2424069
Thats not the majority, its the minority. The weaker or bad players are the purple ranks and below again for different reasons. If your paired with other red ranks 100% of the time one out of the other three of the survivors may not be up to par but this is every other game..Your saying it like the majority of red ranks play bad most of the time and this simply is not the case. Its not rare to see these players because even if they are not playing so well they're still better than 90% of the purple and green ranks you'll get paired up with. Check this scenerio out. Two ppl are hooked myself included, the third survivor gets downed, the fourth survivor is full map away doing a gen AND I have Kindred...lol You know w hy we all died that game? Because at the end of the match i checked the ranks and the player (It was a Meg) was a rank 9 and THATS why i lost. I lost that game because BHVR decided it was a good idea to pair me up with this green rank resulting in my loss. Now of course there was no way for me to know this until post game which brings me back to my original point. They're efforts to create "balance" with this new MMR system is bad and a terrible one because they're matchmaking is very flawed. Now post game i cant even see if a killer (when im playing survivor) depiped or not because i have no stats/information on they're rank and thus i DONT know why i lost that game (or won)
I really dont think people are understanding this or comprehending why this is such a horrible idea!!
What fighting game are you a top player in?
What's your online ID/Tournament handle?

Given that a variety of perks and killer powers literally do force the survivor to remain in place for a period of time to mitigate them (IE - Deep Wound, Legion, Trapper, Plague, Pig, Nemesis, Doctor, and so on), you're best off ignoring their weak rebuttal attempt.

Change it to immunity from a hit, remove the lunge, extend the i-frames by a second or so.
Now Killers 'hit' the Survivor and get the whole weapon hit slowdown. That is all. No DH for distance. Just DH to absorb a hit & make distance via Killer slowdown.
That would be very, very busted. They'd still make any pallet/window during the wipe, get out of the gate for free at a further distance than current DH, etc.

Thanks Mods - I know garbage day is usually Thursday, but I appreciate the assist.

? Dead by Daylight and Steam are not the same program. Steam is external software to the game of Dead by Daylight. It is an external tool.
The word cheating has a definition, and the devs being too autistic to understand that does not change the definition.
The irony is palpable.
Congrats on the ban/warning, though.
Seems you have a lot of growing up to do.

If you're looking for a sincere answer:
The same reason you were able to recover and 4k with an immobile killer - it generally doesn't matter and is a waste of resources.
It's psychologically damaging, but aside from doing a 'center' gen, it's actually a positioning/item management misplay.
