I wouldn't say killer or survivor sided yet. Just overwhelmingly dull. They keep making changes that are essentially putting guard rails on matches, to the point they will all play out in very similar ways.
For a game with ONE game mode...
I really think this PTB is going to be a crazy surprise for a lot of people when they see the reality of how things are going to progress.
-
@fulltonon said:
The fact is they just wanted to remove slugging and used moris as excuse.
They neutered a lot of clutch plays/winnable situations on the survivor side by implementing this mechanic (IE Deliverance plays that win games / soul guard or ub plays while the killer is walking to hook the last guy / etc)....now everyone just dies.
No one's really talking about it/picking up on it, atm, but tomorrow will be very interesting once the players capable of making such dynamic plays get their hands on the PTB.
I honestly went from thinking this update was survivor sided to being overwhelmingly killer sided - not even joking.

My friend recently got her Steam deck and was looking to get back into DBD with the new RE content.
She did not get back into DBD and found other things to play on her deck.

Just played this game, I was doing kind of iffy in the beginning but then got a kill right before the exit gates were activated, I had No Way Out and instead of hiding or doing something smart they all rushed me and tried to do crazy hook saves on eachother when I would down them. Then proceeded to call me trash, a camper, and even accuse me of hacks because I saw them standing on a hill and "Why would you even have a reason to look on a hill!?!?", I still think this little gem right here was the funniest though.
If you didn't respond with "No Way!" I'mma be disappointed.
-
It's not just games where you're going to 4K anyway that will trigger the finishing mori....
There are games that are totally winnable by the survivors that will also end prematurely (IE Deliverance plays, Unbreakable/Soul Guard plays, etc that allow for crazy comebacks/the ability to close out tight games).
The PTB is not going to go the way some people think it is, but it will all be revealed soon, so I'm just gonna enjoy the ride @_@

I don’t think it’s a bad idea (this doesn’t mean I think it’s great either). I just think the Mori rework is bad. I also think UnbreakaBill needs to do something different. There’s no need to have any perk speed up the meter progress of a slug.
A better idea would have been to allow the survivors to just speed up their bleed out while slugged.
It blows my mind that people aren't being more vocal about all the niche scenarios that can occur in super tight/fun matches (which often result in outplays/recoveries on both sides - Basic example....everyone gets hooked/slugged, you Deliverance/4% off and turn the game around) that now just results in the killer winning.
The mori rework literally removes a lot of the fun/intense/crazy scenarios that you start to see as you climb the brackets.
I'd imagine we'll see some different opinions on the forums after the PTB launches.

no, it rewards you for nothing and its pointless and its bad for the game health. If they want to play like that they should make every killer pink add-on op. Where is my pinky finger on clown? It was nerfed becouse it rewarded you for hitting bottles. I think if you should nerf him you should nerf every other add-on. If you disagree i dont care, he is too op, face the facts.
The reason it is not OP (same with any of Wraith's add-ons, really, including his SPEED-BOIS) is that no matter what Wraith gets pre-uncloaking, he still needs to invest time (even with add-ons) on uncloaking.
Uncloaking has a visual and (sometimes) audio cue - Unless you are caught in a dead zone or traveling there is, 99% of the time, an opportunity to get to a window/pallet/loop structure.
Your stance that you do not care if people disagree/face the facts is a clear signal that you are rather ignorant of the game's mechanics and nuances, and, sadly, are the one that needs to 'face the facts.'
-
Didn't he follow up with something like the variance can be up to 15% depending on party size or something (I could be wrong).
If that was the case, wouldn't that push the game closer towards a 50/50 balance if everyone was magically SWF?
-
If I'm using a character like Wesker, I'll walk until I see Gate 1's lever/status, bound to where Gate 2 is visible (cuts down on travel time), then walk back to where I can see Gate 1 (Bound recovers/partially recovers during walk), and repeat.
When using a character with mobility in these scenarios, you need to take advantage of it to make it harder on the remaining survivor.
-
Solid work.
Hope you had fun and continue to have fun!

Easily just place them on hook? So many maps have hook dead zones and you know killers are gonna see the spread out hook offering every match as well. This change if it goes through will make killer unplayable.

It's either I'm getting chased for minutes and barely any/no gens get done, or I'm trying to be a gen jockey and my teammates get downed in less than 15-20 seconds. I'm just praying that I finally get matched up with people who can at least know to do gens while they're not in chase.
Yeah I'm just waiting for how it looks on the PTB. Though I don't expect much good from 22.5 second unlimited self pickups.
I just try to ABM1 (Always Be M1'ing) in Solo Queue. There are games where I literally get 3 gens done solo while my team does ???
I think the changes are just going to push people towards stuff like Lethal Pursuer/DeadLock/No Way Out/Filler (maybe NOED) in order to camp/tunnel someone out within the opening minutes of gameplay, camp/tunnel out another, and ping pong between the last two until both are slugged for the auto win (no reason to hook them/allow for a rescue to prolong the game).

I don't struggle at all at killer (I only got 3k's and 4k's last night) but I think it's laughable to see people say the basekit 2 stacks of STBFL are making a difference.
Also how are you not struggling at solo q, I've been looping killers for 2000 years but instead of doing the last gen my teammates are walking in circles doing some ritual.
Solid killer performance.
*solidarity nod*
I get potato or sandbaggy (ie, obviously going for the hatch challenge and playing poorly towards the end of an easy trial) about 25% of the time. I don't know if it's MMR, Luck, or a combination of the two, but a good portion of my games are winnable/mine to lose.
I'm interested to see how the new changes play out because I'm 100% certain that the game will not shift in the direction people are hoping it will.

YEAAAA 2 STACKS OF STBFL LETS G
Wonder what the stack conversion is counting the decreased hit burst speed (probably 2.5/3).
Admittedly, I find it hard to really become emotive during these discussions as I don't really struggle at all on either side.
-
Average gens completed is wayyyyy higher than I would have assumed.
-
DeadLock is one of the strongest perks in the game and has no activation requirement on the killer's side and is often paired with Lethal Pursuer which also has no activation requirement.
This pairing can make a game nigh unwinnable in less than 1 minute of playtime.

its gonna be pretty much required. You don't have time to 12 hook people if you can't slug. And now you can't slug. So the solution is obvious, you HAVE to basically eliminate someone as fast as possible.
There will probably be way more 1 Hook Wonders with Instadowns/DeadLocked/Lethal Pursuer given how the new win conditions work.
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
Not really.
If you want to use Unbreakable and Flip-Flop, you can do it now already. Nearly nobody does this, because it is a waste of 2 Perk Slots.
There will not be much change if Survivors can pick themselves up without a Perk. I expect more Unbreakables when it goes live, but since Killers will just not slug, it will not do anything.
It will definitely be interesting to see if UB is indeed used a lot and then abandoned as things evolve.

If the killer slugged you, they know exactly where you are, and you're going to spend all your time recovering instead of crawling somewhere else because if they do catch the other survivor, you lose instantly. So the moment you pick yourself up, the killer comes straight back to where they downed you and down you again.
There's no time there to progress the game, it's a stalemate, until both remaining survivors are downed.
And why should Mori offerings being fixed be the solution here? This is what I don't understand, this entire suite of changes is like a train crash of bad ideas trying to rectify each other, when the correct solution was to scrap the very first bad idea.
The main change here is the Mori system. Nobody asked for forced, automatic Mori's that instantly end the game and remove agency from the killer, but that's the idea they decided to run with.
This Last Standing mechanic however doesn't work, because it now makes hooks worthless and slugging the main objective. So in order for it to be viable they have to implement Basekit Unbreakable to prevent easy slugging.
Except now Basekit Unbreakable means that they need to rework any and every possible perk and mechanic that interacts with survivors in the dying state.
And now on top of that they need to change all the Mori offerings, and change all the perks that have Mori's, and then they'll need to change all the killers that have to slug such as Twins, Oni, Myers, etc. and so on and so on.
Like, why not just not make a ridiculously restrictive Mori system that nobody asked for in the first place and save all of this hassle?
I just see a lot of instadown/DeadLock/Lethal Pursuer/filler tracking and regression killers face camping from the very first hook and cleaning up the last two.
If one of the last two is seconds away from bleeding out, hook them for another brief window (still extra time if they sudoku) to find/slug number 4 to deny hatch.
I don't see this playing out the way people think it will at all with the current insta-win conditions proposed.
-
@Hunkulese said:
The combo's going to be the same as it is now. Great in certain situations, useless and a waste of two perk slots 90% of the time.
Definitely not O/P but it'll be usable in a lot more situations if the killer does not insta pick up (ie moves to stop flashlight/pallet saves).
Probably best used in Sabo squads as a single Sabo/body block will hold more weight in game.
Imo, of course.
-
@ThiccBudhha said:
Really? I feel the strategy will largely be to just instant pick up or purposely slug without ever intending to pick up at all.
I think the newest 'play for kills' meta will be to just tunnel/camp two people out asap then slug the last two for the auto win.
-
I don't think things going to play out the way people think they are.
I legitimately think survivors are going to have a pretty bad time with these changes, particularly against one shot killers/exposed builds.
The mori system is also a pretty big buff to removing people asap (ie tunneling and camping), most effective with the killers/builds mentioned above.
-
@PaintedDeath said:
Before I had to artificially not target the unhooked, now not hitting them is part of the plan, and it even gives me a new option to give them deep wound as they run away.
It definitely isn't as bad as people made it out to be.
It's still easy to tunnel, but if you don't want to, you can still inflict DW to get some time banked.

The wraith one is fifty times better than the legion one. Knowing that someone who self mended, somewhere is blind is difficult information to capitalize on. Wraith's just gives Blindness barely conditionally. I prefer Clown's as well.
Clown's is definitely dope (or whatever he puts in it :P)

I've seen an uptick in Blindness add-ons on M1 killers like Legion and Wraith that most likely is a reaction to WoO being meta, atm.

Play the PTB and give the feedback that they want to hear.
Most of what I read yesterday are just players jumping to conclusions take the one match and acting like it's every match.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3202005#Comment_3202005
I'm on console so I can't take part in it, but exactly everything that was said could be changed in some sort of way or not even make it to live version.
Only time can tell. The unbreakable base kit that everyone was flipping out on is what was giving me the chuckles😂 The only way it could be that bad that so many that were having a nervous breakdown about was if they play to slug everyone. If everyone is waiting to Pallet save their not on gens.
I'm kind of interested to see if anyone comes up with a 'end the game ASAP' build using a 1 shot killer + exposed perks.
I'm definitely on the fence about the update as a whole, but I'm interested in messing around with the mechanics.
People act as though things won't be adjusted if necessary, which is a bit dishonest, as BHVR has actually been pretty good with making certain changes in a timely manner as of late.

I'm in a similar boat. I'm a deeply flawed person, but I try my absolute hardest to polish off the edges every day. I'll catch myself thinking "what an entitled XYZ main," but then I make a conscious effort to understand their perspective. We must be vigilant against our own ignorance.
Indeed, DbD has a lot of issues. But if we didn't see value in the game and it's experience, we wouldn't be playing it and talking about it. At the very least, it's exciting to be invested in this game since it changes so drastically over short periods of time.
One step at a time :3
