Since we're evidently being outright nice to each other instead of simply supportive, approachable, and helpful for minute, I would like to say a few things.
QwQw, when I joined the forums, I read your posts and immediately felt like this was a community that I wanted to join. You are, without a doubt, the forums' primary source of cool factor. Your casual demeanor and helpful nature bring a great deal of life to this Entity forsaken site.
Dabihwow, I first saw you when the Pinebrook Prologue thread appeared on the fifth page as I was browsing the forums, and I was hooked immediately. It was like a culmination of every concept I've been interested in for the past six years, and the fact that I could help out with such an awesome project is still an actual dream come true. Helping out with Pinebrook has been one of the main things keeping me going as of late.
And thank you both for the compliments. I really love feeling valued.
And now back to my standard persona, as I still have a question or two for Dabih.
What were some of your inspirations other than Silent Hills and Resident Evil?
^This.
This is why you are one of the best people in the community. You are always kind, supportive, and willing to lend a hand, plus a little snarky ;)
And as for @Dabihwow, man, you've inspired me so much. Working on and reading Pinebrook has been a fantastic experience. You gave me a chance to indulge my love for Resident Evil 7, something that I've never been able to do before seeing as my family/friends don't like horror.
Thank you both so much, I'm not very good at accepting compliments, so all I can really manage to say is thank you.
-
I mean, if you were introduced along side this handsome fellow, who wouldn't get overshadowed?
-
Yeah, the Twins nerf was wack as hell.
To bad even with people complaining Behavior probably still won't do anything.

OH my god... I mean you have both been a 10/10. Beelze, you reminded me of what this series started as and I've actually would do something totally different id you didn't remind me of the psychological aspects of Pine brook. Qw You actually allowed me to bleed more character into Elliot and helped me with my... ######### grammar, but also added details I never thought I would add
I, too, can confirm that Beelze has been a big help. Not even with just Pinebrook, but also with some of my projects and in general as well.
-
Yeah the Crypt TV skins all look really good.

On a scale of one to ten, how helpful and/or have me and @QwQw been on the overall production of Pinebrook?
You called my good sir?

I'll take that as a compliment.

He'd be really easy to over or under tune tho. I also don't want people to have to remember a whole bunch of combos.
It was meant as one.

I figured but I wanted to make sure,
Then again, although I'm an RE fan, I'm not as well versed in the lore as some others, so maybe someone else will recognize it.
-
Doesn't look familiar to me.
As you said yourself, I doubt Behavior would pull the same trick two years in a row.

Not to be nit-picky (which, thinking about it, that's actually probably why you called me in the first place) the survivor's appearance seems just ever so slightly to close to some guys we've already seen. Change the coat color and we're good as gold.
The story is actually great, although Graydon seems a bit too... good, I guess. I would say he needs some more obvious flaws to flesh out his character, but it isn't really necessary.
I pretty much agree with everything Dabi said, so just imagine I rephrased that with about 73% more pretentiousness and snark.
Also, I think being 3% slower for a full 30 seconds as a trade-off for an extra-fast vault seems a bit... excessive. You're basically giving the killer a free hit in exchange for avoiding one. Which, admittedly, might be the point. I would suggest making it an Exhaustion perk instead of just putting in a cooldown, due to the concept alone of DHing to the window and then activating LOtE.
For the killer, I would suggest a mob boss or something. I feel like killers and survivors should be foils to each other aesthetically, mechanically, and personality-wise.
So, some themes that I feel like you should include in the killer with that in mind:
- Decadence, excess
- Ruthlessness, cruelty
- Domination, oppressiveness
- Pettiness
Thanks for your advice about Graydon! I'll probably go back and change some things about him.
I actually had an idea for what the killer could be that match's the themes you suggested. I was thinking he could be a mod boss that sent the goon to rob the convenience store.
-
My fine sir, have you ever heard of a medkit? Perhaps Inner Strength?

This. This at least would have been great to look at while you're idle in the lobby, it would make the skins much more worth it. Legendary skins should have "something" more than just a skin. Visual and sound effects, name change (The Mordeo, The Krampus etc), idle animations.
Make it a little more worth the Legendary status. I think BHVR know this but for some reason don't want to put the extra effort in. Other games do it, i don't know why they don't. DBD isn't a super competitive game, so changing sounds and effects in game wouldn't offer a major advantage apart from a slight delay of "is that Huntress? oh yeah, it's Huntress, she just has a skin on that changes her humming".
Exactly. Legendary skins are already underwhelming for both sides, but killers really get the short end of the stick.
Like, they couldn't even be bothered to give Look See his own sound effects. Hearing him laugh like Doctor is just so weird.
-
This looks so much better. Old Doctor always looked derpy to me, now he looks like one mean son of a #########.
-
Nope, these character updates didn't come with this patch.
-
I wish they could have at least gave Look See and Mordeo a different idle animation. Survivor legendary skins like Lisa and Cybil get new animations, why can't killers?

Together with another Pig nerf, of course.
We can't forget they also removed Legion from the game.
-
See ya, and btw, that's a fan mod.

May his add-ons rest in piece, for now. Who knows, maybe after 2-3 years they will get changed again.
Don't worry, I'm sure in 2-3 years they'll give Freddy another garbage rework.

I just played a match. The speed is like if u hit a pounce and slowly were moving and yes u can still be kicked. I don't really like this change and kinda make them feel sluggish. Wish they just did missed pounces
Yup, just as I thought. Victor doesn't have full movement speed.

I was expecting them to change them, but perhaps I shouldn't have.
As for LB, I have mixed feelings towards it, but @indieeden7 suggestion is really good.
Rest in piece Freddy's add-on's. Most of you were already weak, but now even more of you are.
You will be missed.

Oh god, if that's actually what they mean then it's irrelevant and The Twins just got trashed after all.
I hope Victor will get full movement speed, but knowing Behavior and how they do things and word stuff this is probably not gonna be the case.
-
Looks like Family Crest has a friend now.

Well the fact the killer gets BP everytime they do well, and basically awards a second chance for the survivor. But thats just me
Now for killer, do what you want. It doesn't have to be perfect hell I remember my first ever chapter concept and it flat out sucked, do what you please. It also depends on what you want to make the killer to be,
I'm currently trying to thing of a creative power for them. I typically try and think of a power first, and then theme the killer around that idea.
-
I wouldn't get your hopes up. I imagine what they mean by "move" is Victor will be able to slowly shuffle around like Charlotte does when shes waking up, not actually having full movement speed.
-
@Dabihwow said:
I like the perks, however it has some potential to be absolutely evil in the hands of SWF. Now you just need a killer that fits the tone of you chapter.
I don't really see how any of the perks could be "evil" in a swf.
I'm not sure what the killer could be, but I was thinking maybe a wisp of some kind? Though honestly I've made a lot of "monster" like killers so maybe I should try going for something more human?

Subnautica... because you have to say goodbye to this little fella:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/59WBIYHCGNDK/image.png
He is literally your only friend.
Subnautica is a surprisingly sad and scary game.
Definitely was one of my favorite survival games.
-
The saddest scene I can think of from any game is the vision Ethan has with Jack Baker in Resident Evil 7.
Seeing the guy who just tried to kill you breakdown and beg you to free his family is just so damn sad. It's even worse when you realize the reason he was infected in the first place was because he was only trying to help people.
-
Self Care and Botany Knowledge.
My Riddle Is: Evil will come for you, it's time to prove yourself.
-
That's certainly a unique idea.
-
Legion - More specifically Susie. Her hair looks pretty bad, not to mention some of her outfits kinda have some clipping issues.
-
Our lord cares not for your displeasure, he will do what he deems necessary to achieve his goals.
-
Please don't make that already ######### map even worse.
-
I don't understand how anyone can like Haddonfuck or Midwich.
-
Probably a lot of them, but in particular probably Quentin as he's around my age and is a cool dude.
-
As Killer:
Favorite: Coal Tower, it's the most balanced map in the game in my opinion.
Least Favorite: A whole lot, Auto Haven, Dead Dawg, every indoor map, Haddonfuck, Badham to name a few.
-
Literally all of them.
-
I don't have a Twitch account, but I mainly watch Otz and Scott Jund's videos on YouTube. I like their senses of humor and their opinions.
-
Jake looks the best in my opinion.
-
Myers is censored. It's literally the name of a killer.
-
He's fine strength wise, he doesn't need a nerf or anything, but good god is he annoying as #########.
Easily one of my least favorite killers in the game to play against, and he isn't that fun to play as either.
-
Yeah Jake looks fantastic.
-
I'd move Clown up to B, and then move Trickster down to C.
Aside from some other minor complaints, I pretty much agree with everything else here.
-

Thx, I mostly am basing James personality off of myself, and Caleb is in fact similar to Jack Baker now that think about it, but not as pychotic
Yeah, I more so though of Caleb as having slight uninfected Jack vibes. A strict but loving parent.
-
"Welcome to the family, son." - Jack Baker
-
Not really. It's Resident Evil, so I'm gonna buy it either way.

Well if you thought the last page was the end of the prologue, well guess what... It isn't however it is almost done. Now I want thank you guys for pushing me to finish the prologue. Anyway here is the next page @QwQw , @Beelzeboop , @glitchboi, without futher ado here it is
Somewhere else in Pinebrook, an alarm that sat on a nightstand began to ring through out the dark room. The individual that laid in the bed let out a sleepy groan. They covered their head with another pillow, but it did little to blare out the loud alarm. The now annoyed person sat up and placed his hand on the alarm, it still continued ring. At this point, he had enough and slammed his fist on the alarm, it finally stopped ringing. The person let out a long sigh as he began to rub his sleepy eyes. His name, was James Linderton. " Good mourning James, time to get your ass up and movin'." He muttered, his voice had a slight southern drawl that he learned from his grandfather.
As he began to stand up he looked at his LED clock, it read six o'clock, enough time, for James to get ready for work. I better call Samuel, make sure he did my job at the museum. James noted as he walked for the light switch in the room. He carefully tried to maneuver his way to the light, but almost tripped on the stuff on his floor, . James managed to get to the switch, and flipped it , however the light blinded him as he covered his eyes. " Oh ######### ,bad idea!" James cried. After what felt like a while, his eyes adjusted to the light he was able to open them again to his room.
His room was slightly messy, with some clothes on the floor that need to be taken to the washer, and there was one stain on a carpet. Given that the house old it is close to being fully renovated, the room wasn't terrible, it had a baseball poster of the Indians. But the greatest thing in that room, was a Louisville slugger, that was around a yard long. This bat that James named 'Sluggy', was a recently acquired bat for James to use later on in the league. It was made of ash , and had a leather grip. But James stared down at his desk and reached for his phone, scooting his chair out of the way. He picked it up and dialed and waited.
" Come on Samuel, pick up the phone." James whispered impatiently. But the call didn't come back. " I'm sorry, but the person your trying to call is unavailable, at the tone please leave a message, when you are finished please end the call." the receiver stated. A beep came and James took a deep breath. " Hey Samuel, its me James, I hope you did the cleaning last night, and when you have a moment call me back alright, bye." James ended the voicemail and sighed.
James set the phone down and left for the shower down the hall. He carefully paced down the wooden hallway, and into the shower. He closed the door behind him, stripped, and washed his body. It was quite a while before he turned off the shower head, and began to make his way back to his room with a towel. He checked the clock again and it read six seventeen . " I got time, before work." James noted. He began dry off, and toward his dresser and pulled out a pair of dark jeans, a t shirt, and boxers. " You almost done there boy?" A gravelly voice came from outside the door.
"Yeah gimme a sec." James responded as he pulled up his pants, and put on his shirt. He tightened his pants down, grabbed a pair of socks and exited his room to be greeted by his grandfather, Caleb Linderton. The man was old, but built like a damn tank, this man had large muscles, and could probably lift a whole fridge by himself. James grew to respect him, even at a young age to now. " Alright son, I need you to go check on the chickens, and ol' Betsie while at it, also stand up straight boy, don't slouch." Caleb commanded, James nodded as he began to walk down the hall. " I'll make breakfast for you, how does bacon and pancakes sound?" " Oh you don't need to ask that to get answer." James chuckled
Ah, James has finally been introduced, I like him so far.
I'm interested to see why Pinebrook seems normal at the moment, maybe things will change after James does a little exploring.
Side Note: Caleb is giving me slight Jack Baker vibes.
-
Well for me, there's a couple of things that make me happy.
Talking with friends is always enjoyable, but having a connection to a fictional character also makes me happy. Similar to what the guy above me said, except for me that character is Jack Baker from Resident Evil 7. Sometimes I like to imagine that Jack is there for me, and that'd he'd help me out if I ever need a hand.
-
I know you said we can't remove part of a killers power, but I'd just scrap Dream Snares and Dream Pallets completely and give Freddy his old power pack.
