As far as I am aware the amulet basically only got used with mdr, but yeah I agree that combined they only give the ms of the yellow addons but an additional 3.5 seconds duration, which is quite a lot considering her next best addons gives only 1 second as far as I am aware.

Why aren’t you acknowledging how bad the 25 second cooldown is or the 15 second cooldown when half of the power bar is used?

  • @BlueHorkew said:

What you are asking is not a simple qol change, it is a massive buff to one of the best killers in game.

She doesn't need buffs, much less of that caliber.

I disagree. It’s the least she could receive in compensation considering what they did to her addons especially the amulet my god is it awful now sigh…

I'd be a nice change of pace.

Maybe we can make Nurse be like Spirit and not be able to see survivors while charging her blink

I’m glad you agree. Also that would look weird xD but i’m not a nurse main so i can’t say much about her.

I think she is fine as she is, she does not need any buffs. I would agree if you had some quality of life changes, but not when you propose just straight up buffs...

I don’t agree in the slightest. She needs those changes to be able to keep up in chase and overall map pressure. They’ve taken so much from her that i what I’m proposing is the least she could get. I suggested some QOL changes a while back but even then people got mad and said that’d she didn’t need them. It’s honestly more of a personal issue they’ve got with Spirit as a whole rather than her being the problem but that’s just my opinion.

And in doing so we make her more miserable to face. I enjoy spirit and dont mind going against her either but this is not a good thing to do. SO many other killer are way more deserving of a buff than spirit.

No it won’t make her miserable to face as she literally gives away her location in phase and they’ve taken so much from her that a few adjustments would make her “unFuN tO gO AgAinST “ yeah no i hate the directional phasing noise with a passion but that hasn’t stopped me from finding her fun to play as and the changes i’m asking for are minor considering what they did to her add-ons.

  • @Steakdabait said:

why are we buffing top killers?

To make them more enjoyable to play as?

  • @BlightedTrapper said:

All the pathetically weak stuff in the game, and you ask for a Spirit buff? The 3rd best killer in the game?

I disagree that she’s the 3rd best killer in the game but this change i proposed would make playing Spirit more enjoyable as you would have good map pressure and potential to catch up to survivors since you would have the brown add-om added into her base-kit and along with other duration add-ons, she’d be excellent. All her good add-on got gutted for the 3rd or 4th time now and it’s ridiculous that there no proper compensation for all of that on top of the stupidly easy to track directional audio.

  • @ShinobuSK said:

That add on went from one of the best to absolute trash in single update

Yeah sadly :( the devs can still rectify the mistake since they’ve started doing killer add-on changes with every mid chapter release ( i think ) so there’s hopefully hope 🙏🏻 And i would like to see a buff to her other underwhelming add-ons e.g ( Senko Hanabi, Mother’s glasses etc…. )

  • @Gandor said:

agreed. It's good thing, that the addon got changed as it was busted. But seriously? Can't you do a reasonable nerfs?

It just needs its speed debuff removed. And then add another downside that isn’t too bad like i mentioned in the post. 176% movement speed for 8.5 seconds sounds awesome and would give her good map mobility as well as give her 176% a high chance to catch up to survivors and be actually useful since it take would take longer for her to be in her power. The long ass cooldown would then be somewhat reasonable but not you go at 161% movement speed while emitting a loud pinpoint accurate directional sound and taking 25 or so seconds for the power to recharge ( even if you short bursted, you wouldn’t go far since you’re so slow and the cooldown would still take 15 seconds if half her power bar was used )

  • @GannTM said:

It’s a detriment to put on at this point. Spirit without add ons is honestly better than running this add on.

    😭🤣 LMAO so true

  • @thisislastyearsmodel said:

I'm surprised they didn't give us an add-on that would imitate Spirit old's window vault animation, more precisely her lack of one.

I don't know how useful it would be, but I think it would make for some fun mind games.

Yeah it would be cool. That effect could replace mother’s glasses current effect which is really bad tbh

I realized my last message might have been a little insulting and misleading so I do apologize for that. I was trying to refer to the disloyal ones that the people who just completely dropped her after the nerf, and if I made it sound like I was including you in that, then I’m sorry, that wasn’t my intention. You definitely are a very loyal Spirit fan like me so the two of us have the experience needed for this discussion.

Anyway from one Spirit fanatic to another, I do believe that something needed to be done with duration. Having duration before would mean that using 5 seconds of your power will give less recovery than if 5 seconds were used without duration add ons, and that’s the main concern I had. Recovery add ons before felt too redundant because of that. I do think BHVR could’ve handled it differently though, because Yakuyoke Amulet is awful right now and it’s kinda sad. I am glad they buffed recovery add ons to compensate though, Rusty Flute is very good right now.

No not at all :) it’s ok to having differing opinions your opinions of Spirit is just as valid as mine :) i know you put a lot of hours into her just like i have.

it’s ok i will adapt to the changes even if i don’t like them but i would really like to see mother’s glasses reworked and senko hanabi buffed as well as Furin getting to be omnidirectional instead of directional or at least make the directional sound be tricky like if you hear it from the right it’s actually coming from the left and vice versa.

People still think Spirit is mediocre? It’s very clear who the loyal ones were after her slight but fair nerf in 2021.

The nerf was huge, Having a constant crystal clear and pinpoint accurate directional sound against a killer that is blind and has to deal with audio bugs and inconsistencies is massive, it completely and utterly gave survivors the power over her by default. Her 176% movement speed doesn’t mean anything if it only lasts for 5 seconds and not to mention factoring in her having to charge her power and going in it first while the chase music blasts in your ears enough to drown out all sounds survivors make on top of how unbelievably buggy the audio is.

Spirit is mediocre add-on-less because her power lasts for only 5 seconds not long enough for the 176% M/S to actually be of use and is extremely predictable with the laughably easy to pinpoint directional audio ( so much for a Spirit sigh ) and her having to wait for a full 15 second cooldown not to forget the activation part of her power which is slow base-kit.

i’m a hard-core Spirit fan and have been playing her exclusively since late 2019 ( around her very first nerf ) and i can confidently say that the changes she got to her base-kit and add-ons were undeserved ( there was a better way to go about it ) and still haven’t stopped playing her even though the directional audio sucks to have and it pains me immensely seeing how unique she once was sigh….

but of course we can agree to disagree :)

What i would like is for the yellow and brown duration add-ons to be base-kit so that the 176% M/S can actually be useful…imagine that when paired with rusty flute and Rin’s broken watch, would be amazing like constant map pressure but it’s never happening 🙄

  • I’m just voicing my frustration, is that not allowed?

If Spirit player is not good with her, they should not get easy downs.

the spirit is getting easy downs because survivor... is not playing well against the ability. I think over estimate how much killer has control over.. the game.

You can't perform good with Blight, Nurse, Huntress, Wesker etc as well if you are not good with their powers. Because that's where skills come out.

..... You can if your opponent is worse then you.

Good Spirits are performing well enough. Because they are skilled.

no they are performing because their opponent does not understand how to counter the phase-walk. you can't base a killer strength by people that have no game-sense. it is like basing a killer off playing vs bots...

She has counterplay but she is not dead.

    she has too much counter-play...

You can play Blight or Nurse before they get same judgment.

but blight and nurse do work for their kills. what a weird conversation.

It really infuriates me seeing posts saying how Spirit is still aMAMZinG power-wise even addon-less and winning against clueless survivors then attributing the win to Spirit’s StRENGtHs -_- it’s sad really but that’s the majority and some still claim she’s BuSTED even now can you imagine 🤣

i miss old Rin :/ i really do

  • @Neprašheart said:

Honestly? She's fine the way she is now.. Well, except the directional phase walk.

I wish, we could still see her affecting the environment and hearing her directional phase walk while being within ~6 meters from our position to have the game reward fast reactions, but give the killer some breathing room at the same time. The directional phase walk cue that can be heard across the entire map was some huge and undeserved nerf, they've truly overdone it.

(The mentioned ~6 meters from our position would've been my personal suggestion, that was never the case.. So, don't get the wrong idea.)

That being said.. Her add-ons are all fine the way they are. All of them, yes.

As somebody who has been and still plays Spirit without add-ons for years, I can't even tell you how much using add-ons plays the game for you. One brown add-on can mean being a second faster, which can mean making it before the survivor can drop the pallet or vault the window, resulting in a hit or avoided hit.. And given her long recovery time (unless you use add-ons) makes it very clear and obvious that she's a very difficult killer rewarding precision and focus, and a proper timing.

Seriously? What about Furin,Mother’s glasses and Senko Hanabi…would you really call those good?…

  • @GannTM said:

Are you talking about the one that made you silent? Yeah I wasn’t around during that time but I know how broken it was lol.

No the one that got changed back in February where no matter if survivors are oblivious or not, or you start phasing outside a 24-meter radius and approach survivors, they will always hear the directional audio if Spirit enters a 24-meter radius when phasing. So basically it goes from being omnidirectional to directional. Really stupid that they changed it.

but i wouldn’t mind seeing the old silent prayer beads come back but make it an ultra rare ( pink add-on ) with the downside of not being able to grab any survivor off of anything e.g: ( Gens, totems etc…) to balance it out.

  • @Coffeecrashing said:

I hope they keep it in the game, as compensation for nerfing her twice with the directional audio.

dear god no, it really is very nauseating and dizzying :( but may i know why you’re suggesting keeping it?

P.S. : i agree that the directional audio change is stupid ( it’s even more stupid now ) and i really wish they’d remove that or at least bring back old Furin…god i miss that add-on :(

  • @Chocolate_Cosmos said:

So it wasn't only me who thought the FOV looks different then before.

Yes, you are absolutely correct that you aren’t the only one noticing how drastically different the new FOV is and it’s different in a bad way as it’s very dizzying :(

  • Gosh it’s so infuriating when things like this that are TOTALLY unrelated to what they were trying to “fix “ happen and i have NO IDEA WHATSOEVER what it was that they were trying to fix or fixed…. To me it just seems that now there is a TRUE bug that Spirit is affected by…🤦🏼‍♀️ And you know what’s even more infuriating? The devs not mentioning these DRASTIC changes be it intended or not in the patch notes thinking people won’t notice….😤😤

How in the world does fixing a “bug” lead to a character’s FOV being COMPLETELY and UTTERLY bad-looking and changed and not to mention causing motion sickness in some instances???? Also Spirit’s walking animations from the survivors’ perspective are completely different and they look bad like really bad. -_-

Can you also elaborate on the “sounds seem totally off “ part? Are you referring to the new katana noises that sound so weird and different when Spirit attacks? Or just in general? Because if the latter, it’s always been like this sadly and a dev a month or so ago had told me that the sound inconsistencies and bugs aren’t actually bugs and whatnot but rather a part of the game …great just freaking great.

The foundation of this game in all aspects or most of them is like trying to cove up the smell of feces with a fragrant air freshener. Truly revolting. 🤮🤢

P.S. : This weird new bug ( i don’t even know if it is, knowing the devs, they could for all we know ignore it and leave it as it is ) has been happening since the most recent hotfix , a few days or week ago.

Yeah im p35 on her rn and i literally even with shadowborne could not stand playing her. It was so atrocious. I couldn't tell what i was even doing.

Same :( she even looks ridiculous from the survivors’ perspective. ( her walking animations have been also changed for some reason )

sigh… i really am starting to hate hotfixes, they apparently do the opposite of what they claim to do -_-

  • Is it like a concentrated beam of light being lit in a straight line when there isn’t even someone holding their flashlight? Yeah i’ve been seeing those and it’s weird idk what it means but i’m sure it wasn’t there before the recent fixes to Spirit….

  • Old Spirit.

She was the only killer who made me genuinely excited whenever i went up against her but now? Not so much as it’s very generic and dull and it’s so ridiculous the amount of free information i get from her phasing as a survivor with ease.

i do miss old Spirit dearly…

  • @Blueberry said:

Spirit should be up to very difficult imo. I know it’s the cool thing to call Spirit easy but she still has more skill ceiling than most the killer roster.

Onryo should be down to easy.

It’s really baffling how many rate Spirit as easy. ESPECIALLY after her nerf. Oh well 🤷🏼‍♀️

  • Hard disagree on Spirit being in the “easy” category. There’s so much more to her than most think. Trying to accurately land on top of good survivors while blind consistently is not considered “easy” especially since the in-game audio is so inconsistent and buggy and also not to mention that now she has a very clear, more pinpoint accurate directional audio for survivors to easily use to their advantage. But this is your own opinion on Spirit so whatever.

Personally, i would put Spirit in the “challenging “ or “very difficult “ category.

  • @AbsolutGrndZer0 said:

From what I understand, yes it's currently bugged, as is the perk Merciless Storm. In fact, when you fail the Merciless Storm, there's a strong chance it will instantly regress the generator to 0%.

Sorry for the late reply but thanks a bunch!

  • I don’t blame them. She’s lost A LOT of what made her unique and is now just a generic semi-fast killer ( in her power without speed add-ons and still unjustifiably slow outside her power after the major nerfs to her power ) and her long power cooldown that doesn’t justify being there anymore considering her power isn’t as strong as it used to be.

    i do miss old Spirit dearly….sigh 😪

Healthy survivors still have a chance to success the mind game from phasing. Injured survivors have no chance with 215% speed.

did you all really read the post to the very end? Telling me how ( stupidly unfair it is to play against/extremely broken it is on “a top tier, easy-to-play killer etc “ isn’t gonna change my mind on it and this isn’t the point of the post, we can all have differing opinions after all.

you still haven’t come up with a rework idea that wouldn’t completely butcher the add-on and would make it still worthy of being called an Iridescent. So far only complaints/how you feel about the add-on….

  • @GannTM said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3390391#Comment_3390391

It's more of a blossom issue if anything, as that combo is ridiculous. Just make it so MDR decreases activation charge speed a little and just remove the scratch mark downside. Rework DCB after that. This will keep MDR being an outstanding add on in the long distance catch up but nerf the short burst at loops that Spirit has. I think this will be a fine change.

Hm, that wouldn’t be too bad i think. Only if the decreased activation charge speed applied would be the equivalent of the current brown activation charge speed ( gifted bamboo comb. )

DCB is not satisfying to use at all imo ,though i have to admit, sometimes its mere existence helps Spirit in the sense that it causes survivors to panic and then run and make a lot of noise as opposed to being stealthy and quiet in chase as survivors usually think that a Spirit is running it and so they tell themselves there’s no point in being stealthy because of the killer instinct revealing their location.

do you have any other idea on how to make this add-on more interesting to use instead of the current effect it does? Like a completely different thing and not just a number increase. Idk i just want it more or less to have the past Furin effect that got “fixed” where approaching a survivor while phasing from beyond the terror radius would play the omnidirectional audio instead of the pinpoint accurate directional audio. super bummed this got changed when it didn’t need to as it required a really specific approach that was risky to pull off while preserving some of the “ jumpscare” aspect of Spirit. Sigh…

  • @GannTM said:

Even after all the Spirit simping I’ve done on these forums over the past 2.5 years, I know how busted that add on is.

Nice that you have your opinion on it, but i have to disagree. You still haven’t talked about a potential rework that could make it completely different but USEFUL instead of just wanting the add-on nerfed and left with more downsides than upsides.

  • @Cassiopeiae said:

The bias on this one 😬

It’s not so much bias as having my own standpoint on the add-on based on how long i’ve been playing Spirit and with it and the players i go against while running the add-on 🤷🏼‍♀️

  • @Steakdabait said:

You don't think that mdr is broke? Surely your opinion is unbiased @ProudRinMain

Biased opinion = not agreeing with the majority. Mkay. You’re doing exactly what i mentioned in the last paragraph and still haven’t contributed to the actual point i was talking about.

  • @Pulsar said:

    Should be a complete rework.

Definitely one of the most busted add-ons in the game at the moment. Not quite on C33 or Alc Ring level, but pretty close, imo.

But you didn’t actually say the rework it could get, just that’s it’s busted and that’s it….?

  • @m4x1m_000 said:

You already can play on Spirit with your legs and 4k in pubs. Any comp Spirit will say that. If you ask for some advantage for killer, it calls a buff. She doesn’t need it.

What you need to talk about Spirit is her addons, because MDR + Cherry Blossom just has no counter if killer have more than two brain cells. You will just not reach another pallet no matter how close tiles are.

Ah yes the classic “ easy 4k while blindfolded as Spirit “ lmao

but really, it has to do more with the ######### players who play against her who give her “easy wins “ than Spirit’s actual strengths.

and please don’t bring comp dbd or killers into this, it’s super cringe 🙄

  • @BlueHorkew said:

Buffing the third best killer in the game.

Yeah, nope. Unless you nerf some of her more busted add-ons.

As a long-time Spirit main that has been maining her exclusively since late 2019, i don’t agree that she is the 3rd best killer in the game anymore, but i do agree with her more top tier add-ons she does potentially come close to being it.

also who said i wouldn’t want MDR to be reworked if the proposed change happens? It’ll make playing add-onless Spirit way better and viable than she currently is and also would work very nicely with the yellow and brown duration add-ons.

also the shorter cooldown would only happen if she IMMEDIATELY hits a survivor with no delay and if she doesn’t, the current default 15s cooldown would still take place and it doesn’t work at all when it comes to map traversal. It would just happen in chases.

  • @Coffeecrashing said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3387982#Comment_3387982

It's actually replying to you. Your suggestion means that I can chase a survivor, use up my entire phase duration, mess up and end up not hitting the survivor..... and you want me to be rewarded with faster recovery time, because my mistakes are a "good and efficient use of Spirit's power"

That’s not what i meant at all. If a Spirit player ends using up their entire power gauge and not immediately hit a survivor, they’ll still have the normal default 15s cooldown. However, if they do hit a survivor instantly upon ending the phase-walk, a shorter cooldown would happen, basically like the stacked rusty flute and Rin’s broken watch add-on. It has to be a HIT, not happening on map traversal, tho that would be nice.

besides, The current two best killers in the game get their powers in under 5 seconds or less even if they mess up and their powers are far more superior than Spirit’s….so why is it a problem really?

  • @Coffeecrashing said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3387892#Comment_3387892

So basically Spirit would have way better map traversal, because using her entire phase duration would be "good and efficient use of Spirit's power"?

And if she’s chasing a survivors, uses her full phase duration, but messes up and doesn't hit a survivor, she gets her power back faster, because her mistakes were "good and efficient use of Spirit's power"?

Are you actually replying to me instead? The comment doesn’t make sense with the other person’s reply. Kinda confusing.

  • @Iron_Cutlass said:

Personally, I would prefer a base duration increase if her addons for duration were toned down proportionally. Just to make her feel a bit better to use.

Idk why, but her basekit just does not feel good to use, but when you use the uncommon duration and uncommon speed addons, her power feels way too good (almost a bit cheesy, at least I feel that way, not like it matters though because I still use them regardless).

Man i miss the old green versions of those two :(

  • @Technature said:

I don't really think Spirit needs a buff. She's pretty damn strong as is.

Wanting to be able to use your power for longer and have a shorter cooldown isn’t asking for a “buff”.

still, i would like to see short bursting resulting in a longer cooldown to punish bad uses e.g ( spamming it, short bursting excessively which is really boring omg ) of Spirit’s power and longer phases incurring a shorter cooldown which would be better and reward good and efficient use of Spirit’s power.

Because the only acceptable level of counterplay to a power appears to be 'the Survivors must have more knowledge about it than the Killer does'. At some point, you have to wonder why they aren't just making her visible, seeing as the sound has been made increasingly obvious to the point where you're only going to fail to pinpoint her if you're playing with mono speakers.

Take a look at every status infliction power in the game, for instance. I think the only thing that involves some sort of buildup on Survivors that the Killer can observe is Pinhead, and that's just a timer before someone grabs the box.

    Lmao so true 💯

  • Don’t bother, they really don’t care at all. Wait until that mandy moderator comes in and says ( wE doN’T wANt tHe OlD 50-50S aND tHe nEw DiReCtIonAl AuDio iS fiNE aND wOrKing aS inteNdED )

Seriously ? I remember when her directional audio nerf announcement was made public, it stated that it would make the directional audio “Vague” and not this garbage new directional audio.

like it’s so ridiculous! The moment she enters a 24-meter radius of a survivor while phasing, IT’S SO OBVIOUS ( LIKE 1000000000% UNDOUBTABLY OBVIOUS WHERE SHE’S APPROACHING FROM ) this needs to go like ASAP. It’s giving away too much information and the Spirit player doesn’t even get that crystal clear audio while phasing.

    ugh. 🙄🤦🏼‍♀️

  • @Coffeecrashing said:

It's a bigger nerf than her original directional audio. It's crystal clear over terror radius music, bell noises, piano noises, and everything else. And zero sound occlusion, or anything else that might get in the way.

I guess she wasn't considered nerfed enough when she had the original directional audio, and needed to be double nerfed to make sure she's as miserable as possible to play.

Yeah i have no idea what the devs were thinking 🙄 why make her audio crystal clear and easy to pinpoint and not suffer from sound occlusion but the survivors’ sounds are extremely garbage and inconsistent and have sound occlusion EVERY.SINGLE.TIME. It’s getting atrocious.

Oh it is atrocious in terms of gameplay ( visually it’s kind of appealing and immersive ) , i can kind of share the same frustrations you’re having with Blight but as Spirit for me, the rain LITERALLY heavily muffles survivors’ breathing ( not like it’s already very inconsistent sounding and hard to hear in general in the first place but yeah let’s make it even MORE near impossible to hear 🙄 ) so yep, but i reckon it’s more detrimental for Blight oh well 🙄🫠
