no practical difference between "the gen with the most progress got blocked so i'm working on a different one" and "the gen with the most progress is going to get blocked so i'll work on a different one"
If it was a case, Deadlock wouldn’t be banned on tourneys even against M1s. But you miss the fact that if there’s no 99 gen, your mates will be interrupted and dispositioned. This is why people put Corrupt as well.

I never said you said it was useless, just that the counter doesn't work the way you think it does.
if a gen someone's working on gets blocked, they can find a new one to work on; they're not forced to wait around for their gen to unblock. there's no practical difference between "99 a gen, then work on only other gens" and "just do gens, if yours gets blocked work on other gens" especially since the killer can go to the blocked gen, kick it, and then if you wanna pop that gen last you have to redo the progress that got undone
No practical difference between “I have to leave my gen with progress for 30 seconds” and “I don’t need to leave my gen with progress”. I see.

Survivors have two hands, so it makes sense that if they want to survive, they will bring two items. Just an idea for new posts.

Yeah on demand 3rd health state. It's funny when people say this stuff how obvious it is what their mmr is. I'd say 1/10 dhs work on me when I play killer.
What killers you play? As Spirit sometimes I have to do lunge attack into the window because otherwise I will not reach the hit from phasing, as Blight I can’t bait DH forever because it’s only 5 rushes, as M1s I need to play 50/50 around pallets when survivor is injured. DH into Knight’s guard, DH at corner against Huntress, DH at Plague’s puke, DH at Demogorgon dash etc etc etc… Stop saying that successful DHs are killers skill issue because sometimes you have to hit or survivors can react to hit.
-
It feels like they're trying to discourage camping if the killer's design allows it. I don't think they can do anything with Bubba's ability. Even if they limit him to start the saw within a certain radius of the hook, he will still be able to camp. You will unhook but with the same result if he was near. But this makes him a unique killer, isn’t it cool? I love facecamp Bubbas, especially if they hit me on hook. They’re funny to me.

but you have to 99 a gen in order to do that
like who cares if the deadlock doesn't force anyone off a gen if the reason it doesn't is because the survivors did nearly an entire extra gen of progress to avoid it. that's massive perk value; in fact, if the survivors do that strategy, the killer gets, at a bare minimum, the same amount of slowdown as they would if survivors were just naturally doing gens and deadlocking generators, to within a couple seconds
I don’t say it’s useless, I'm saying the value of this perk is overrated.
who cares if the deadlock doesn't force anyone off a gen
Because this is what this perk do if it wasn’t countered with 99 gen and this is how it give a lot of value and theoretically win you 2 minutes?
survivors did nearly an entire extra gen progress
Why you call this gen progress an extra? I just repaired my gen and left it 99. I will pop it last.
-
It will happen again. Try to think of tunneling as a chance to practice chase, because the killer's attention is all on you. The killer doesn't want to ruin your day, he's just sweating like he will win an apartment in Dubai. When I feel like it’s the day of tunneling, I run Deli + OTR + DS + DH combo. You should try it to make tunneling more fun for you.
-
Sorry but your solution won’t do anything with basement Bubba because he can camp upstairs. It's just a strategy that you need to learn how to play against, and the resources of most maps allow you to loop Bubba for at least 3 gens. Moreover, IMO facecamp/basement Bubba is just a canon that should be protected. Anyway, you can still exchange if there is a pallet nearby. But Bubba will always take at least one.

its timing/predicting your dh to when the killer m1s
Predicting is not timing, successful predict is luck or good position for DH. I saw baby survivors who use DH with counting “one, two, three, E”. It is the timing you mean?

to say dh is never ever about timing is just wrong. if the killer is m1 range it absolutely is about timing is it not?
99 SB is about timing, because you need to 99 it first and then walk a bit. M1 chase is about bloodlusting and mindgames. What timings you mean? When I gonna swing? It’s not about timing, I can wait for hours or I can not. Keep in mind that Killer is experienced and he suppose you have DH. I would say that DH against Huntress can be about timing if you know the timing when she can throw a hatchet. But once she waits your DH it’s 50/50 or waiting for hours.

wrong
except against ranged killers, but in the open nah its not lol
In the open I can swing with my camera up so you will DH for nothing. DH is never about timing, it’s always a reaction, 50/50 or just spammed E when you realise that you did a mistake or you are in a good position for DH (corners against Huntress, for example).
-
With the new changes
The new changes will do nothing about why people choose DH over OTR. Everything you listed is relevant with the live version.
absolutely no reason to not run Off The Record instead
OTR is a midgame perk and will turn off after 5 gens and conspicuous actions, DH will become mid- and endgame perk which is available if you injured and was hooked for once. The only difference you can’t use DH in your first chase. Everything else has been it in the game for almost a year.

True, we do it all the times with my swf
However, how many times do you go against swfs (and I really say swfs because solos and duos are too uncoordinated to pull out that) that actually do so? I use deadlock on many killers, and I've probably ran against like 2 teams that actually did that, and it's still manageable
I do it all the time in solo and it works until some Mikaela finishes the generator out of ignorance. What I want to say this is a rather boring and easy to counter perk. For some reason, everyone overestimates his value when he is easily countered if there is one experienced survivor in the team. New HUD helps a lot to understand if the killer has Deadlock so we can say that they nerfed even Deadlock, because now it is easy to get information about it. To get maximum value from Deadlock, the killer must tunne so it's not the healthiest perk, it’s bad the devs are force killers to bring it and the game needs more perks and buffs to encourage skill and fairplay.

Aloe me to introduce you to: deadlock, a perk that has been in the game for 1.5 years
99 far gen and killer will play without the perk.
-
OTR is for midgame, DH is for endgame since your OTR will turn off and for midgame if you wasn’t tunneled. This is how they work on live and not much will change after patch. I don't understand why you started asking these questions just now. The changes will not make Dead Hard an anti-tunneling perk, it's just the devs do not understand that the argument “unhooked survivor is attractive for tunneling because he will not have DH” doesn't stand up to scrutiny.
I guess you ask because you didn’t saw this:

-
Want my Spine Chill back so I can run this old chase build again :C
-
Yes. When I play survivor and I see the killer is a newbie, I can feed him a kill in endgame. Same if we had good chases and it was not a tunneling. Also I like to feed to fair Bubbas if they played without Endfury (+ Hubris).
On killer I play optimally. If good survs put me bloodypartys, I will play mostly fair so everyone could farm BPs. If I see that survs are not very strong, I play fairly too. Against sweat players I sweat like my life depends on it. I hit AFK players just to punish them for it. I try to protect baby survivors and can succumb to them so they will feel better. Baby Meg tbags are cute.

@Johnagon_Infinity you're looking at it from a killer perspective.
What you want to do is hear about balanced nerfs and changes to both sides, then complain so much that the balanced nerfs and changes only apply to one side. This makes the game fun for 80% of the community and ensures nobody want to play that 20% but how could that possibly affect the 80%?
And why he shouldn’t look at it from killer perspective? Give survivors infinites and they will be glad to use it and have fun, it doesn’t mean it’s fair towards the killer. Most of maps are survivor-sided, but a lot of people talk that recent maps are garbage, because It’s fine if something is survivor sided, it’s just should feels fair. How mains on Garden of Joy, Eyrie and Lampkin are fair against M1s? Lampkin main: window, shift + w, window, repeat. Have bamboozle? Don’t worry, there’s three windows on second floor. Very fun and fair map. Don’t want to say anything about Palletland Borgo, but you saw gen spawns on this map? Huge square map with gens in its corners, good luck with patrolling.
-
To be fair, even this map can have bad RNG. I once had only one pallet gym on 9 without any chance to reach another tile after drop. It was a death against Billy ;C

Are you going to ignore how COH and DH were nerfed completely? DH can only activate 8 times in one match through all 4 survivors and COH you can’t self heal anymore and that 100% bonus doesn’t stack with medkits.
Complete nerf is what happened with COB and OC. The only thing has changed about DH is that you will not see it in the first chases. All other issues have been ignored and with new changes every survivor will have DH activated for free when you needed to earn it on the PTB.
And the most funny thing is if you don’t want to see DH in your matches, secure second stage and tunnel this survivor so he will DH only once. Devs thought this new DH will make unhooked survivor less attractive for tunneling, huh? Fair play also means the Killer activated 4 DHs for himself. What killer will ruin his game with this?
-
This perk defines your play style. It's not some passive perk that just sits there and helps, you have to play it for it to be useful. You can tank a hit for a tunneled teammate when injured, you can trade when the killer is camping, you can just bait the killer for a chase that will be meaningless for him, because you can free yourself from the hook.

you might not know this, but 92 seconds and time spent running is longer than 90 seconds, and one survivor getting chased off a gen and being forced to stop repairing wastes less time than two survivors getting chased off a gen and stopping repairs
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3394794#Comment_3394794
yeah, the logic still works in that scenario because its the toolboxes and other perks in dedicated gen speed builds that are the problem there.
"Prove slows down generators"
"oh but what if you decide to also bring things that speed up generators"
then, instead of reducing gen speed from 90 sec to 92 sec + run time for 2 gens, it'll reduce gen speed from 70 sec to 72 sec + run time for 2 gens. it's still the other stuff doing the work there, prove is still a net negative on your gen speed.
people run prove thyself for the BP bonus, not because of gen speed buffs
I don’t agree with you, but even if you're right, you do not take into account two points: there are killers against whom it is more profitable to repair gens together; there are generators that the killer doesn't care about. When you play against mobile killers who can easily come to an important generator and prevent its progress, you need to repair them together to finish them as quickly as possible. Not every generator on the map is important to the killer, because he cannot break and protect every generator on the map. And here Prove is a great help which breaks the timings for killer.
-
They buffed Self-Care + Botany combo for 5% in last meta shakeup as I remember. And it’s fair that you need to run 2 perks if you want to heal yourself faster.

DH “nerf” just made it mid- and endgame perk, not antitunnel.
Instead of an early, mid, and endgame perk, therefore making it an objective nerf (and Sprint Burst is better)
There are a lot of situations when SB is better and a lot of situations when DH is better. But it is clear that SB doesn’t fix your mistakes as simple as DH do. Used DH means a situation in which the killer's victory turned into a survivor's victory due to pressing a button. 99 SB also can fix your mistakes, but it is not always available; timings for 99 SB are harsh and need a lot of practice. This is not brain dead DH at corner against Huntress, DH in pallet, DH at Nemesis tentacle after pallet drop etc etc etc.
Nerfed but still OP meta. Can’t say the same about any killer’s perk.
-
What will these survivors do when its nerfed
Still run DH, because
a) rn on live servers I barely see if DH was used more than 3 times from 1 survivor, so in average matches 2 guaranteed activates will be enough
b) it is guaranteed that you will have DH activated in your second and third chases, you don’t need to earn it
c) DH in pallet/bloodlust is gone once you hit DH are still a thing
DH “nerf” just made it mid- and endgame perk, not antitunnel. Nothing changed in terms of counterplay: hit in basekit BT and pray there’s no DS. Killers who play fair will suffer the most, because after 4 fresh hooks they just activated 4 DHs for themselves.

If a wider FOV is a "HUGE" advantage then why is Shadowborn not a meta perk? I have never seen it near the top of the pick rate statistics and the perk is unheard of in the comp matches.
Wider FOV is a huge advantage and this is why stretched res was a thing in its times. Nobody wants to use perk slot for wider FOV. And is it still not as wider as with stretched?

Remove SWF completely and maybe killers won’t be so toxic. When you get steamrolled 5 games in a row and spend the majority of the time stunned or blinded, yeah the next random survivor is gonna get 110% of my built up toxicity. I’ll basement Bubba your whole team and drink your tears. I honestly don’t care if survivors are enjoying the game anymore. I’m not allowed to enjoy it so why should I allow you to?
I watch one ex-comp player on Twitch and now he mostly play solo q survivor. Once he played against another streamer and I wanted to watch the match from his side. It was very funny to hear him complain about SWFing, because the survs are not stupid. He had STBFL and during the match Obsession was tanking hits. Do you know why she did it? Because the killer was tunneling and my streamer gave his medkit to Obsession and showed with emotion where she should run. Of course, for the killer, this is a “damned SWF”, and not just a lobby with good survivors. The same thing happened in next match, my streamer got caught against this killer twice in a row and it didn’t bother him at all, he continued to complain about another match against SWF. It seems to me that those who ask to remove SWFs will complain about SWF even after the removal, because not the SWF is the reason for their loses.
-
Because if your solo q teammates can press M1 on a gen, usually it is their best and they can’t handle something more hard. Even if this is basic double save/tanking a hit/using perks.

Watch comp content creators and ask them questions, they will be glad to share their knowledge. Analyse their playstyle and what they were doing. And run Corrupt Intervention. Universal perk for every killer.

I think it is maybe because of "balance"? xD There had to be some reason why they made it like this.
For the same reason why Kate’s dress looks like it's being held by something, or she's got a couple of toolboxes under it. I'm surprised anyone buys them because these skins are objectively crooked.
-
Maybe this skin would be more popular if it weren't for the tucked-up in shame tail. They were too lazy to animate the tail, so they just wrapped it around the leg. A great example of hack work. Do developers know why animals need a tail?
-
Not much changed to me.
I run Corrupt and Pop on every killer, the other two perks are optional and depends on killer’s ability or what I want to run rn.
On survivor I always run BL and DH, the other two perks I switch and usually it is Vigil + Any Means / Repressed Alliance + Wiretap / Blast Mine + Residual Manifest.

NGL Deadlock is peak braindead gameplay.
Literally no interaction or input from the Killer whatsoever for maximum effectiveness, and I've been of the same opinion since its release.
Needs to have some kind of interaction, EG: When the Obsession is Hooked, the Generator with the most progress is blocked by the Entity for x/y/z.
Isn’t it the perk which counters by 99ing some far gen?

This change suggestion isn't really for me but of course it would benefit me somehow.
I know how to time DH, and that's really bold of you to think I win most of my matches when I'm mostly a soloq player since being in a team means you're not only dependent of you (as it is for playing killer, that also does not mean I'm saying it is easier to play killer but I hope you get what I mean).
I think this change would benefit other players that do not have DS (and honestly that perk is more dependent of where you get downed and it is paid as well unlike OTR) and since it is now an anti-tunneling perk it would benefit in other combinations.
I didn’t mean you, I used pronoun you just to describe my thoughts. You can replace every “you” with “me” and “I”, it won’t change much. Sorry if it wasn’t clear.

I mean that in the original PTB, a survivor needs to actually do something to earn a DH activation, and they might not get any unhooks the entire game.
Maybe the survivors always got hooked on the opposite side of the map, and someone else got the unhook before the DH user. Maybe it's a game where one of the survivors is trying so much to get unhooks, that the DH user doesn't get any unhooks. Maybe the DH user is injured, and doesn't feel comfortable trying to go for unhooks. There are many reasons why a survivor might not get a chance to unhook other survivors, especially in solo q.
The result is that many survivors on the original PTB might equip DH and get 0 activations, because they didn't earn any. And a perk that might get 0 activations has a very high chance of being dropped from the meta, after survivors realize they might get 0 activations per game.
Okay, I get it and I will think about it. It's just that for now I have a feeling that for a killer it doesn't really change anything in terms of counterplay.

If you want to replenish your medkit, use Built to Last.
I know, I know. The idea of replenishing the medkit came to me a long time ago when I was thinking about how to change CoH in such a way as to remove the possibility of infinite self-healing, but at the same time leave the opportunity of self-healing, and make the perk more interesting than just running into the totem radius and press the button to heal. The idea is just to add cutted Build To Last into the CoH. It is just like now you can put Self-Care and Botany to be able to heal yourself faster, or put CoH and give your mates the ability to self-heal but slower. The buff that I suggested works in the same way: you can put Build For Last and replenish any item including medkit three times, or put CoH and give your teammates the opportunity to replenish the medkit but only once. The principle is similar. If CoH worked like this with current medkits, then it would be OP, but with new medkits this buff sounds fine to me.

Yes, 1 free activation after being unhooked the 1st time, and 1 free activation after being unhooked the 2nd time, for a a total of 2 activations for free.
Compare this to the original PTB version, where survivors could equip DH and gets 0 activations, because survivors might go the entire game without earning any activations.
You mean in the original PTB if unhooked surv died in 15 secs then the saver could not earn his DH? Well, you know, if this is a real case in your matches, you will not really worry about DH since chases against you are this fast. But if I understood you right then yeah it’s kinda buff and feels like free activation, but still compare it with life servers. We will have no DH in start-game and there are other more important problems with DH than amount of uses IMO.
-

New dead hard is massively better than the original PTB version.
In the original PTB version, people that equip dead hard might get 0 activations from it, if they didn't safe unhook anyone. In the newer version, every survivor that equips dead hard gets 2 activations for free.
Read patch notes again, it is still 1 activation per unhook.
-
There are many reasons. I must say that winning in solo is quite difficult, so if you want to win, then every match is a challenge. You need to imagine the positioning of your teammates in your head, correct them and your mistakes, it's very nice to see teamplay in solo matches, when your solo q teammates can do something more than pressing M1 on the generator. It's nice to see the right decisions from them and to make them yourself, to analyze how you could have done the right thing. And yes, there are matches when you play 1 vs 3 vs 1, when it doesn't make sense to try. But when I see the killer is sweating and my team has a chance to win, why shouldn't I sweat too? There are many different killers to verse, many different builds with which you can play some specific role or just have fun. The most interesting thing is probably the chase. It feels good when you outplay mindgame, use checkspots, choose pathing, improve your looping skill and everything related to chase. I’m sure there are more reasons but that's the first things that came to my mind.
-
And another big problem of DH for M1s is that your bloodlust is gone once you hit DH. IMO it’s too big punishment for M1s, because bloodlusting is the basis of their chase which is already too long if survivor is at least mediocre.
-
Karma for shlugging. It is a server problem, every player will see like they are DCed. Just garbage servers I guess.

I mean my idea is just to make DH and OTR to work since OTR is very counterable imo. I like being very safe but that's me and this change would make it a good very anti-tunneling combo (another option rather DS and DH or DS and OTR) since people are making DH an anti-tunneling perk. I think other people should have other combos rather than one with a paid DLC perk (which is mostly used in a high level MMR).
Isn’t it better that you can combine different perks for the same purpose? So, you want to prevent tunneling and use your DH, then OTR is not the best option and it’s better to run DS. You are bad at timing DH? You can run OTR with any other exhaustion perk. And there’s always OTR + DS + any exhaustion combo for you. And let’s be honest, OTR, DS, DH are powerful on their own since this is second chance perks, and OTR + DS + DH is insane combo when killer tunnels you, it doesn’t need a buff. You already win huge amount of time with this build, be glad killer chose to tunnel you because now with those perks you will win the match for your teammates.
-
@WesCravenFan said:
A mechanic designed to limit how often you can use a perk is being used in a way to promise a second use of it. Yeah, that doesn't exactly scream "intended use".
Exhaustion was introduced to prevent players from using different exhaustion perks in a row. So 99 exhaustion does not contradict this. You can't SB and use BL after that, and you can't SB twice if you didn’t walk for 40 seconds during the chase.
-
There is no way I read complains about SB. Literally one of the most well designed survivor’s perk. It is hard to control your SB and requires skill. You can’t just 99 and then activate by button, you need to know the timings.
