What is map seeding?

Zombie movies can be trashy. Thats the whole point of them.
Yes but Paul's were not MEANT to be trashy. He really felt he was writing good stories. In which only his wife could save everyone, and even characters from the games are utterly useless unless Mila's character is around to lead the way.
As zombie movies; they are entertaining.
As Resident Evil movies; they are pure & utter Mary Sue fanfic garbage that insults RE fans.
Edit: And he's writing the Monster Hunter movie, where Mila is once again the main star. So expect more crapping on fans of the game.

Nemesis or riot!
Jokes asside, i don´t really see the lady d as new killer. She is not iconic enough. The old RE games had several movies. While the new ones are barely known.
Oof, the movies. Nothing but crappy fanfiction from Paul 'What Shi-' Anderson.
Mila's character was a Mary Sue to the tenth degree, and it was clear Paul only threw in anything he saw in the video games without thinking about the story. (Las Plagas in Movie...3? Was it? When before it was normal zombies?)
Paul W.S. Anderson is a hack, and those movies are pure Mary Sue fanfic garbage.

Well, we have modern maps like Hawkins, Lery's & Gideon Meat Plant
Ontop of other maps like Badham & Gas Heavan which cars & what not. The game was always modern.
So I don't know why you'd single out generators for the modern feeling since we have all these realms that give a modern feeling.
Generators exist to power the exit gates, that's all.
However, I do agree that having modern generators in maps such as Dead Dawg Saloon, grind my gears ever so slightest.
As I said above; the Entity does not understand the worlds it copies. It has 0 idea that the Dead Dawg Saloon existed before generators.
It's supposed to be that way.

Right. I forgot about the hope aspect that it feeds off of.
Yep! Every escape gives the Survivors hope they will escape back to the real world next time!
And every time they die, the Entity revives them and wipes the memory, so they never recall dying. Thus, they think they escaped and stay hopeful longer.
-
It's SUPPOSED to feel 'jarring and warped'. The Entity copies areas in other worlds and mimics them, but it does not know anything about those worlds, so the copies are weird and prone to errors.
It saw generators and felt this would be great to give Survivors false hope, so it used them, without thinking through how or why they would be laying around.
-
Umm...Just wriggle a bit without actually trying to get off the hook? It's the 'The Killer is camping' dance.
Survivors invented it 1 week into the game. We don't need some sound clip Survivors can spam annoyingly.
-
Albert Wesker, voiced by D.C. Douglas.
I want that smooth voice taunting the Survivors as frequently as the Trickster laughs.
-
The whole point of bloodlust is so chases end. Without it, a player can loop MUCH longer.
But given how you're attacking people on here and claiming it's for 'bad Killers'; it's pretty obvious you just want it removed so you can loop longer.
-
Rofl. I remember, years ago, I would put traps near hook chokepoints (but not under hooks, because that was too obvious).
The Survivors refused to stop running everywhere. Time and time again, they set off my traps.
I kill 3, down 4th, and he DCs. IN the end game chat, he goes 'Campers don't deserve 4Ks'.
Apparently moving nonstop & using Hag's power is 'camping'. 😂🤣😂

Still no real rebuttal
Why do we need to rebut? You don't argue with someone who says 'The sky is not blue! It's green!' because it's obvious that they are both wrong, and unwilling to listen to facts.
It's pretty obvious from your tone that you won't accept anything against your view, so why should we waste the energy trying to debate you?

Use that low brow response all you want. It's because you know the kit is overloaded and not fun to play with or against.
Or it's because we all know you are wrong. 🤷

Tier 1 and tier 2 still gonna be there, they're fine. Tier 3 on other hand just reward killers for bad gameplay.
And most of the Survivor's meta perks reward them for bad gameplay. Your point?
Haven forbid the Killer have a sliding-scale mechanic to end a chase. 🙄

Sounds like OP died to Shocky Boi and feels anything that prevents them from winning is 'bad' or 'broken'.😂

That’s not true at all. I’m a rank 2 killer and have 0 problems playing fair and still getting 4k even against swfs. I do agree the game does need to be slowed down a little but it’s not impossible to win while playing fair
Play 'fair' all you want.
I, too, play fair, and I camp and tunnel. And I slug sometimes, if another Survivor is nearby waiting to save.
If Survivors can try their hardest to win by banging out gens quickly, I can try my hardest to win by knocking someone out of the game as quickly as possible. And your petty little ideas about camping, fairness, and what's 'fun' have no impact on my play.
You can't remove camping without removing player agency. At that point, Killers will leave and queue times will get longer, because punishing 'camping' would be a direct nerf to every Killer's tools to win.
But that's what you really want. That all any of the whiners want when they whine about 'camping' and 'tunneling' and 'slugging'. They just want Killers forced to play by their made-up rules so they can have easier matches.
If you can't accept that the Devs have said, repeatedly, that camping, tunneling, and slugging are valid; then maybe this game is not for you.
It's as useless as whining about getting sniped in CoD and demanding they remove all snipers because you find them 'cheap' and 'unfun'. The real message behind it is 'I don't like this, cater to me. Let me win more.'. I don't know what else to tell you.
This is just a step or two removed from whining that Killers kill. 🤷 Do you really think you get to decide HOW the other team wins?
Your mindset is exactly why Survivors abuse me in end game chat when they feel I've played 'unfairly' and I'm <redacted> sick of it. Devs have said, repeatedly, that camping, slugging, and tunneling are fine.
Accept it or leave.

Yes we are because anyone with a brain realizes how stupid that it. Camping, tunneling and slugging are the most complained about and hated thing in this game and has caused more people to quit then anything else. The fact that the devs keep trying to say those are legit strategies is only hurting the game in the long run. Keeping those things in the game only increased toxicity, divides the community even more, and make people hate on the devs an extreme amount. Literally nothing good comes from keeping those things in the game and nothing good comes from the devs continued defense and support of it.
Except every idea to 'fix' it either:
- Easily abused by Survivors for free unhooks
- Removes Killer player agency
- Is a spiteful idea meant to punish Killers
No idea, ever, to 'fix' it has been good in any way. Every single one fits into one of the three areas I listed above.
But you, and other Survivors don't care. You just think you deserve all the unhooks, and so you pretend to care about 'the health of the game' while ignoring how many Killers would leave if you tied their hands because you're throwing a temper tantrum over losing 'unfairly'.
All your comments about the 'health of the game' and 'hurting the game' are pitiful smokescreens for the truth; You want more unhooks. You want to get unhooks when you get to the hook. You don't want Killers winning. You want easier matches.
Guess what? You don't get to decide what's fair. The devs do. And they decided, years ago, that they can't punish camping without Survivors exploiting it. Because Survivors exploited the punishment they tried.
And now Survivors are coming back and suggesting the exact same punishment, like they expect the devs to just let them get away with abusing it again if they scream loud enough.
Guess what else; you know why Survivor queues are so long? Because Killers aren't playing. And you think trying Killer's hands with half-baked, trash punishments will make the game BETTER?
No. No. You are well aware that it will make the game EASIER, for YOU. You could care less about how it affects Killers.
...Up until they all leave, and you're left wondering why the game died, because YOU were having fun with EZ wins due to all the trash mechanics & BS punishments you demanded the Devs add in to make your game easier.
Because when you say 'Camping is unfun' what you really mean is 'Losing is unfun. Please alter the game so I can win'.
Thankfully, the Devs aren't falling for your smokescreen.
-
Are we going to keep ignoring the fact that the devs have said, repeatedly, that camping, slugging, and tunneling are valid tactics?
🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

I was toxic D:
I was trying to get Adept Shape and I only had T1 perks. So I kept slugging the 3rd Surv while looking for the 4th & the hatch. But they were really good at hiding.
The match went on for 35 minutes before I succeeded at getting them both. And I apologized profusely in the end game chat, explaining that I was going for Adept Shape.
One of them said 'I figured as much. NP.'
So kudos on that player for being so understanding. 1 did not speak and the other 2 were console, so I'm not sure if they raged. 😅

It’s an easy fix they just need to punish face camping by reducing blood points instead of emblem status. If people watch -200 BP disappearing every 20 seconds for face camping they might actually think to leave the hook. Unfortunately most people either don’t care about losing emblem points or they don’t even realise face camping reduces them so the continue to do it.
No. This suggestion is just petty BS because you're angry you can't get free unhooks.
How about Survivors lose BP if they do gens too fast? What's that? They're just playing the objective? WELL SO IS THE KILLER!
Camping is fine. Camping is a legit strat. Camping is not going anywhere. It's one of the ways Killers ensure a kill. And their entire objective is. To. Kill. You.
Or is it just not fair that you lost? I mean, with an idea this petty, it HAS to be that you can't stand losing.

If you go out of your way to harass people outside of the game with slurs and threaten them, that's a different story.
You. I like your user name. I'd feel REALLY bad about feeding you to the Entity, but it is a harsh Master...Mistress? Mastress?

so i'm a killer main(to the extent i clearly didn't even know how kindred worked), I do play survivor. I disagree with Power_guys sentiment that we should just ignore the unfun part of this. I don't really care how much fun the 3 survivors doing gens are hurling themselves at hook have, they have choice and agency, and they can do what the want, either do gens, or make risky plays to save the hooked person.
the part where I am on the survivors side for this one, is the person on the hook. spending a few minutes on hook and then dying is not a fun match, and it's not a fair punishment for getting downed once. It's a scenario I think would never happen in a healthy game, though I don't agree with punishing killers, or as hard of tactics as teleporting killers away for it. Most solutions that aren't "incentivize, and give the proper information" are less healthy than allowing camping to happen in some small number of matches. I've probably played a few dozen hours of survivor and have seen camping happen once.
Don't get me wrong; I am 100000000% for hooked Survivors getting a BP bonus. For being 'Wriggling Meat' or a distraction, or something, when camped. They deserve the BP because not getting any sucks, and getting camped sucks.
But I am also 100000000% against exploitable mechanics & punishments for 'camping' when it is, more than it is NOT, a valid strat that slows down gen speeds.
Killers remove 25% OR MORE of the Survivors doing gens, because 1 is hooked, and 1 or 2 (or sometimes all 3) remaining are coming to save them. And why should the predator move if they prey is walking into their jaws? More to the point, why should he be punished for Survivors choosing to do this?
As you said, it's player agency:
The Killer decided to chase that player, down him, hook him, & see if anyone comes.
The Survivors decided to leave gens and sneak to the hook, where they learned the Killer is camping so they...continue to hang around the hook? That was their choice; why should the Killer be forced to walk away, if he knows Survivors are nearby?
And player agency is why I will, always and forever, be against any 'punishments' to 'fix camping'. Because all they are, are exploitable mechanics and punishments meant to give Survivors an unhook just because they want it, or punish the Killer for playing 'unfairly'.
None of the suggestions has ever grasped three vital things:
- Camping only works if Survivors leave gens
- Killers are players, too. They deserve to try just as hard to win as Survivors doing gen rushing
- There are too many times when camping is legitimately used to win matches. Like when a Survivor is hooked between two gens at 70%. Why should the Killer be forced to leave? Why should he be punished? Why should the hook teleport away? Just because Survivors want that unhook?
So again; give the camped Survivor BP. Sure. Distraction Points or something, probably in the Boldness category? But NEVER punish the Killer for trying to win just as hard as genrushing Survivors.

Also; if gens speeds were changed, camping would be less viable because it's boring for the Killer as well. But it's one of the only ways to slow down gen speeds. So don't give me bunk about how gen speeds can't be slowed because of camping.
That has literally nothing to do with viability. And I'm not sure how you can possibly come to the conclusion that making it easier for killers to get more than 2 kills when camping could make camping -less- viable.
But I feel like you're reaching some kind of blood pressure limit, so I'll just let you simmer. It's not like there's gonna be any reasonable discussion from you, anyway.
You don't seem to understand that camping only works because Survivors let it work.
Slower gens does not make camping MORE viable; It takes some of the pressure away and reduces the mindset of 'I NEED this kill NOW!' Since 1 kill = 25% loss in gen efficiency. Killers would not need to camp if they did not have 6-7 minutes to do 12 minutes worth of work in.
If Survivors still stop gens & hump the hook, then camping still works. Even if gens took 30 seconds; if Survivors stopped working on gens, camping would still work.
But you continue this narrative of camping being some OP tactic that forces Survivors to throw themselves at the Killer like groupies. You flat out refuse to admit that it is your fault if you stop doing gens & loiter around a camping Killer. Because you can't comprehend not getting that unhook.
It's clear you are convinced you deserve the unhook because you want it (or else you would just do gens) and are willing to screw over the game balance in order to serve your own needs.
And that's all 'punish camping!" threads are; Survivors sublimely convinced that they deserve the unhook because they 'stopped gens' and 'walked all the way across the map', and Killers should be forced, by any means possible, to give them that unhook.
It's the DBD version of 'Remove snipers because being sniped is unfair' from CoD or Planetside. It's entitled Survivors demanding the opposing team be screwed for their own needs. Because losing is 'unfun'. But they don't want to admit that they just want easier matches, so they hide it behind such things as 'it's not fun' and 'the health of the game', when it boils down to 'Give me what I think I deserve'.

That's a pretty heated response.
I didn't say most of the things that you're putting in my mouth, and I think I've also been pretty polite and tried to remain objective about this. I didn't say that Wraith should lose his powers and that it's all his fault that I lost. In fact I made several comments making it clear that much of it is on my side.
My argument was that if a character can suddenly appear and hit you even though you've begun to flee before he's already entered the room, he seems a bit OP. Maybe you take that to mean "I HATE HIM, HE'S MISERABLE AND I DEMAND HIM TO BE CHANGED", I don't.
You say that you can see his shimmer. No, you can't always see his shimmer. It's not the easiest thing to spot. And assuming that it was, is the assumption that a player is supposed to spin their camera 360 degrees through the entire match as a counter to his stealth?
You say that he can be heard. Louder than the generators? Down long halls or around several corners? Outside of walls when, again, you're in the middle of fixing a generator?
Your main argument seems to be "because he is a stealthy killer, he should always get a free hit. If not, the counterargument is to take all of his stealth mechanics away". I never said anything of the sort. I said that he's gotten buffed to the point of frustration.
You're free to disagree with me, and you obviously do, and that's fine. But I'm not going to get in a snarky pissing contest about it. I made my points, you appear to have leapt to some extreme conclusions and angrily concluded that nothing I say has merit, so I guess there's no point in going any further.
I apologize. I've been losing my equanimity over all the 'Punish camping!" threads that have been popping up, while being told I'm entitled for camping & everyone pushing for 'punishments' and an alteration of game mechanics to hobble Killers are clearly in the right.
A couple youtubers/streamers I used to enjoy also scream 'HE'S CAMPING/TUNNELING' whenever the Killer so much as breathes, and, in turn, their viewers parrot them & use 'Camping/tunneling is EVIL' to mean 'Be toxic to Killers because they played toxic', which, in turn, makes playing the game pretty garbage some days.
So I got irritated over more anti-Killer talk, and my sarcasm got away from me. Again; I apologize.

So 3 people working 3 solo gens can pop 3 of 5 gens in one hook camp.
And that is the problem. It should be 5 out of 5 plus exit gates if you want to make the argument that camping isn't viable. If camping can relatively safely secure you a 2K, it's not non-viable.
But nope! That's not good enough for lazy Survivors! They want unhooks! They DEMAND unhooks! They walked 'all the way across the map' and the Killer has the GALL to be camping! He should lose BP! He should be teleported away! The hook should walk itself to the nearest Survivor! Because they walked SO FAR!
But nope! That's not good enough for lazy killers! They want dead survivors! They DEMAND dead survivors! They downed someone once and the survivors have the GALL to pull them off the hook! They should not be able to!
What you are arguing in favour of is incredibly stale, non-dynamic play, where the killer doesn't chase and the survivors don't do anything but hold M1 on gen. Camping matches aren't fun for anyone involved, yet you seem to have an aneurysm anytime someone mentions that it's not healthy for the game.
You're in tears over how bad killers have it, but the majority of killers have a 60%+ kill rate at red ranks, suggesting that it's not -nearly- as bad as people make it out to be, so this clinging to camping as 'one of the few things killers have' is pretty nonsensical.
And that's also ignoring the fact that it's hindering development that could solve both issues. As long as camping is a thing, gen speeds cannot be slowed down, because doing so would be a direct buff to camping, and you don't want the game to hit a critical mass of campers because then it'll just flat-out die.
But, you know, you could also keep bawling your eyes out over meanie-poo survivors. Whatever floats your boat I suppose.
So you're saying, since you don't like camping, you should get a free escape? 5 out of 5 gens?
You don't seem to understand that Killers camp because it works. Survivors leave gens to crouch near the hook, then snivel and whine that it's 'so unfair that the killer never left!'
What you are arguing in favor of is taking away one of the only ways Killers can pressure gens. And you don't seem to get that it's the Survivor's fault that it works.
But you don't care that the Killer is a player, too, huh? He played in a way you find 'unfair' and thus he should be punished. Because your need to win should trump his. Because your 'fun' should matter more than his ability to win. So tie his hands. Punish him. Make it harder to win as a Killer by removing camping.
Because you don't like camping. So the Killer should be screwed because a Survivor is unhappy that camping made them lose again.
Instead of doing gens, you complain that you should get a free escape because the Killer played in a way you, personally, don't like.
Never mind that every single 'fix' to camping is something Survivors can exploit for easy unhooks. That's fine, because 'camping is unfun' so Killers should be punished for playing 'unfun'.
I mean, killing is their objective, but they should only kill in a way Survivors, the opponents, approve of. Right?
No camping, no slugging, no tunneling.
Get all 12 hooks! Spread out those hits! Make sure you pick people up, even if you know a Meg is 3 feet away with a flashlight! Anything else is 'unfun' for the Survivors!
And Survivors matter first! So hurry up and add abuseable punishments! Slap Killers in the face when they try to win! They don't get to pressure gens! Nothing is a Survivors fault!
Camping only works because Survivors leave gens? Killers fault!
Tunneling makes sense because going after wounded prey is faster? No! It's 'unfun'!
Slugging pressures Survivors to save their friends, but punishes Killers because there's no progression of hook states? Bah! Survivors should automatically get up, to counter it!
If you can't handle that the other side tries their hardest to win by any legitimate tactics necessary, then that's a YOU problem, not a game problem.
That would be like whining that you die first in CS:GO and the programmers should change the game so you can play longer. because you find dying first 'unfun'.
Or you want snipers removed because you find it 'unfun' that someone can shoot you across the map before you see them.
Also; if gens speeds were changed, camping would be less viable because it's boring for the Killer as well. But it's one of the only ways to slow down gen speeds. So don't give me bunk about how gen speeds can't be slowed because of camping.
Camping exists because gens speeds are too fast.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2182040#Comment_2182040
Okay, listen, let me sketch the situation for you.
You're on a gen. Someone is hooked, about 3/4 of the map away from you. You stay on the gen, because you assume someone else will go for the unhook. Time passes, and the unhook doesn't come (You don't know why, they could be in a chase), so you decide to take point and head out to try and save the hooked person from being down a hookstate. You travel allllll the way down to the hook and then notice that the killer is camping. That's a ton of time you lost checking up on a hook that you can't reasonably make.
Repeat that two more times for the other two survivors that also had to find out that the killer was camping, and there's one or two gens left to do by the time the camp victim is dead. At that point, if the killer downs someone, it's likely a 2K. If they have NOED, it could get even worse, because you can't hunt for totems against a camper either, you need to genrush.
Hookstates aren't long enough for genrushing to be a solid counter to camping, unless the hooked target has kindred, everyone else has kindred, or it's a 4 man swiffer on comms.
'Just bring kindred!'
Just bring PH against old DS abuse.
Sometimes a problem is just a problem and needs to be fixed.
Your 'sketch' is literally how the Killer takes pressure off of gens. Is it his fault you left gens to check on the hooked Survivor?
Why should he be punished? The fact that you want the Killer punished or moved because you think you deserve the unhook because you 'wasted time walking across the map' shows just how much you want free unhooks and easy escapes.
And hookstates ARE long enough:
It takes 120 seconds to die from first hook.
It takes 80 seconds to repair a generator alone.
That leaves you 40 seconds free after soloing a gen.
And that's not counting: Gens already being worked on BEFORE the hook (IE: The 60-80 seconds chase, hit, chase, hit, carry, hook).
So 3 people working 3 solo gens can pop 3 of 5 gens in one hook camp.
I mean, the Killer is DOING HIS DAMNED OBJECTIVE but who cares, right? He's not doing it 'properly', according to Survivors! He should be going for ALL TWELVE HOOKS!
Wait; let's do the math on that:
Assuming every chase is around 1 minute long, counting time to find, chase, pick up & hook survivors, that's 12 minutes needed, on average.
Assuming every Survivor solos a gen at different times; the slowest possible result. 80 seconds times 5 is 400 seconds. Which is 6.66 minutes. We'll say 7 minutes.
Oh, look at that. If Killer's do not camp, THEY NEED TWICE THE TIME THE SLOWEST SURVIVORS NEED TO CLEAR GENS.
And yet Survivors stomp onto these forums and DEMAND Killers give up every single unhook possible. Because a Killer applying pressure via camping (And Survivors playing badly enough to hide near a camping Killer INSTEAD OF DOING GENS) is 'unfun' and clearly the Killer's fault.
Instead of DOING GENERATORS, you think it's 'unfair' that you 'walked all the way across the map' and the mean old Killer was AT THE HOOK.
The entitlement of Survivors asking for 'counters' or 'punishments' is wearing thin. It's a valid tactic; one of the few Killers have that people keep falling for. Yet when Survivors fall for it, they blame Killers, and want to tide the Killers hands.
All because they believe they deserve every unhook and easy matches.
-
@Aneurysm said:
It's still a good thing overall. I'd rather not go back to the era when the first person downed DC'd in half of all matches.
Amen! I stopped playing for awhile when the DC penalty was turned off for a bit, because I never had complete matches as Killer.
Player 1 would DC because I found them too fast.
Player 2 would DC because I found them next (or they were in a SWF with Player 1)
Player 3 would DC because 1 & 2 DCd
Player 4 would DC because he was the last in the match.
And yet, people still cry about the DC penalty, and somehow think having it is somehow less healthy for the game than having all matches end in mass disconnects? 🤷
-
None of this is at all correct, but keep complaining; I know it's how Survivors convince the Devs on who to axe next.
And after you all get Spirit nerfed because you're too lazy to learn her counters; who's next? Trapper? Is having to look around for his traps too hard?

That's literally what most killer mains on this forum want. They just want a free 4k, and if there is at least a bit of challenge to that, they come on here and cry about "second chances"
As opposed to the Survivors, who want free unhooks. And if there's at least a bit of a challenge to that, they come on here and cry about 'camping'.
Or Survivors, who want easy loops. And if there's any challenge to looping, they come on here and cry about 'OP Killers' and 'no counter-play'.
Works both ways.
-
Since it's silly to require a basic attack, I use it on M1 Killers like Trapper, Hag, Wraith, Freddy, etc.
I love it on Trapper; Survivor steps in a trap near a gen, and I just walk up and clobber them.
-
Camping is a legitimate strat. It does not need adjusting, tweaking, rewards, or punishments.
This would lead to the same exact abuses that the old punishment (The struggle phase moved slower when the Killer camped) had. Survivors abused the hell out of it.
For those wondering, here's another recap:
Survivor #4 is Hooked. #1 does gens. #2 & #3 are bait.
#2 & #3 stand out in the open, 50+ meters from the hook. This ensures there is no chase music. This means the Struggle Phase was slowed down due to 'camping'. (In OP's case, this would ensure the gen speeds are sped up) This ALSO ensures they can run away if the Killer moves towards them, thus delaying a Chase Event by upwards of 15-20 seconds.
The Killer moves towards either Survivor? The other moves towards the hook. The Killer then has to back up, to prevent an unhook. Since the Survivors were so far away, a chase never starts. Thus, the game thinks the Killer is 'camping' still.
The end result was that the Killer was either forced to camp (and be punished, even through the Survivors are CLEARLY waiting for him), or he had to give up the hook. He had 0 choice in the matter; he was punished either way.
Since the Killer is a human player, and not an AI, the Devs deemed this abuse quite 'unfun' for the Killer, who should have the CHOICE on if he gives up a hook, not be forced into it. So they removed it and deemed camping as a legit strat.

How is it a mistake to scout for an unhook? Are survivors supposed to unconditionally refuse to go for an unhook just in case it's a camper?
You're acting like camping is some OP tactic that Survivors have no control over. And that's not true.
If the Killer is camping; do gens.
Most players, when they see gens pop, will realize 'Oh crap! I'm not stopping the other 3 people from doing their objective!'
But instead, Survivors swarm a hook, get hit, then come onto the forums and cry that camping is so unfair and needs punishments. Because they are incapable of realizing that they are the ones rewarding a camping play style.
Instead, they seem to think that they deserved that unhook, and the Killer was being 'unfair' or 'unfun' for not walking away like they demand. So the game should push the Killer away, or teleport him away, or teleport the hook, or drain his BP, or give Survivors infinite hook meter.
All of it boils down to one thing; 'Please force the Killer to move away from the hook, so I can unhook when I want. I don't care that this slows down his ability to win. All I want is my easy unhooks. I deserve those unhooks, so force the Killer to make it happen.'

It's like the words 'shack', 'building' and 'maze tile' have lost all meaning...
It's like the idea 'learn to play against different Killers' lost all meaning.
Survivors: We can't loop him for 80 seconds! NERF HIM!

> I still think strongly that if the solution were focused on making sure killers knew that A. camping was a losing strategy against competent survivors
The issue is, camping isn't a losing strategy against anything but a competent 4-man swiffer on comms.
Because in solo play, without kindred, what happens is that someone gets hooked, and someone attempts an unhook. The time that person loses on checking the hook and finding it camped (not accounting for stealth killers here, either) is already enough to give the killer time for another down after the first target dies.
That's why there's the oft repeated suggestion of making hookstates slow down if the killer is near, since that helps make camping as ineffective as it's claimed to be.
Because why let the Killer capitalize on player mistakes? Nope! Better punish the Killer for Survivors screwing up!
That's basically what Survivors want; free unhooks & Killers punished.

Wow. That.. isn't actually that bad O.o It's the same as before yet you don't have to reload shortly and it still has its worth plus it still has the increase throwing rate. Bravo! I wouldn't be opposed to that.
Thank you! :)

Okay, right off the bat you show you don't quite understand the concept of a "stealth killer".
HIS POWER IS GETTING A FREE FIRST HIT. The "counterplay" to that is getting lucky by having LoS on him far enough away to see his shimmer start and not being in a relatively small deadzone, or having Spine Chill against a killer that doesn't know how to counter it. It's not really about the survivors skill, it's more about the Wraith not mindlessly walking up to a generator without at least trying to hide.
That is literally the power of stealth killers. That is why they annoy people. It is not unique to Wraith, he just also happens to have massively good mobility and so does it better than even Ghostface now. I also think that most of the complaints aren't that valid, but this one is and there's nothing to be done about it because that's one of his biggest strengths.
Names perks and techniques to counter Wraith. (Look around, listen, use perks)
Then claims Wraith can't be countered.
...Yep. Just another Survivor finding it too hard to do anything but fix gens.
-
Except some Killers need to know where they are to set up their powers (Hag, Trapper). And if you hit them only from Survivors, Survivors would complain. And rightly so, since it would be a nerf to them.

Maybe it should be time based if a killer is next to a hooked survivor within 10 meters or (X distance) the killer gets teleported by The Entity
No. This would just give Survivors a free unhook.
There are perfectly good reasons for a Killer to camp; Survivors just need to accept it instead of demanding the game punish the Killers for not letting them win.

@Crimson_Lockhart said:
Maybe not a perk but a in game mechanic were "The Entity" teleports the camper to a different location
No. I would uninstall and ask for a refund if I got teleported away from the hook while a Survivor hid nearby for the free unhook this gave.
Or if the hook was teleported away & again; gave Survivors a free unhook.
All these 'anti-camping' ideas/perks/threads boil down to the same thing; Survivors believing the Killer should HAVE to let them get the unhook. That the game should force the Killer into avoiding killing until some arbitrary 'fun' quota is met.
The problem is, they ignore something; that the Killer is a player. That asking the game to prevent him from achieving his goal is somehow more 'fun'...for Survivors only. They seem to forget that the Killer's goal is to kill you.
His goal is not to give you candy, and ask if you did enough gens to 3 pip, and if so; can he please maybe hook you for some BP?
It's a PvP game. If people can't accept that the HUMAN PLAYER behind the Killer will do his STATED GOAL OF KILLING YOU just as strong as you, a human player trying your best to escape, then maybe PvP games aren't for those people.
After all, I never see Killers go 'Gen speeds are too strong! Maybe Survivors should be teleported across the map if they do gens too fast!' or 'Maybe the gens should teleport around, to keep Survivors from gen-rushing!'
But apparently Killer players trying to win is forbidden, and every mechanic should be put in place to stop their evil attempts at winning, because Survivors find it 'unfun' to lose.
Oh wait; they find it 'unfun' to 'be camped'. But if 'fixing' that 'camping' makes it easier to win; that's just a bonus. Because who cares about Killer fun, amIrite?

Honestly, it should not decay until you use it.
And then it should only decay (once activated) if you throw knives. Just let it give Trickster infinite knives for <x> amount of throws, at it's increased throw speed.
I'm sick of getting it when Survivors are 1 throw away from going down. It's wasted if I use it, and disappears if I don't.

then franklin's countdown ought to stop when there's camping.
Rofl, no.
Why should the Killer be punished just because you don't want to lose your item? Go do gens, if he's camping the item.
-
Ah yes, the usual 'Punish the Killer or reward the Survivors because we hate this tactic that only works if we, the Survivors, let it work. And we are aware the Devs have said it's valid, but we disagree because getting gud is hard' thread.
This forum has a daily quota to meet!

Asking for a fair chance is just that: Asking for a fair chance. Saying that just because the killer's role is "stealth" is akin to saying that P3 Claudette should be able to spend the whole game in bushes because she's being stealthy. I doubt that many killer mains would be in favor of that.
The survivor shouldn't get an automatic escape. Nor should the killer get an automatic hit. Both are unfair. There should be reasonable balance. When you're doing a generator you can't easily hear the Wraith's presence. If you're walking around or sneaking or what have you and the Wraith zooms up behind you, which you can't see (unless I guess you're spinning the camera 360 the entire time you move), there's no way to stop him from uncloaking two feet behind you and clobbering you. In the case of my video he wasn't even in the room. He wasn't making any noise. The other person and I were doing a gen, as soon as the door was kicked even once I was on my way out. I couldn't have possibly reacted any faster. There was no warning. Smack, someone's breaking down the door. Time to run. Still not enough time to get away. And you guys mentioned the pallets, well if the pallets weren't there THEN what was I supposed to have done?
Again my point is that we don't just have an invisible super fast killer who is almost completely silent and can apparently enter the attack state without making any noise, there's also no way to get any distance from him when he decides to come up on you and uncloak. It seems like a bit much. I didn't have any problem with him before the update (meaning, I found him to be a perfectly acceptable killer like the Huntress or Doctor). Now, he's just an annoying pain in the ass to face. His benefits are no longer outweighed by anything in particular that keep his abilities in check.
If the Killer can sneak up on you & get close enough to ambush you; he should be able to hit you.
Why should you get some sort of limiting factor that gives you a way out?
You can see the Wraith shimmer within 28 (?) meters, so don't give me this BS about him being invisible & getting 2 feet away from you.
You can also hear him snarl, and stomp around. And he moves grass and corn. So don't sit there and say 'He does not make noise'. This is pure bunk to push your 'Wraith is OP' narrative.
So you're saying it's unfair that you did not hear him (even though he makes noise), and did not see him (an invisible character, who does shimmer), and he out-played you using his power. But all that is 'unfair', because you could not get away?
Because you want a 'fair' (read: in your favor) 'chance' at avoiding a stealth character stealthing up on you?
What do you want? Him to glow so you can see him better? Him to scream as he moves around, so you can hear him better? Oh! I know! He should have no lunge out of stealth, so you can run away!
How DARE a stealth character get near you! He's clearly broken and 10000000% invisible at any range! I mean, sure, he has his shimmer, but you did not see it, and that's not YOUR fault. Clearly he's broken!
All you're saying is 'Wraith out played me, please remove his power because I can't admit he beat me'.
And no, Wraith being stealth is not the same as Claudette blending instead of doing her objective. Wraith is meant to use his powers of not being seen to get near you to DO HIS OBJECTIVE.
So nice false equivalency.

I do not like this idea.
The whole point of dying on the hook is to make your teammates pick between saving you (and risking themselves) or working on gens. And they have to pick NOW. Not 30 minutes later.
Your idea takes all the threat out of being hooked, and the rush out of the timer; 'Just work on gens while I sit here. It's not like I can die.'
And I would hate to be hooked ONCE and die, because I had a potato teammate.
Also; the gens barely last long enough for 8 hooks unless the Killer plays REALLY well or the Survivors screw up. If hooks no longer killed via time limit; Survivors would just bang out gens instead of going for saves. The Killer would never reach 4 or 5 hooks, never mind 7 or 8.
Sorry, but this idea, while unique (and kudos on the uniqueness) is not good for the balance of the game.

It's that odd to you that someone would ask for a chance?
Your argument is that because he is a stealth killer he is essentially supposed to get a free hit.
No, but if he's stealth, he has ways to counter that stealth; you can hear him stomp. You can see his shimmer. You can hear him snarl. You can run perks.
So why should he have no way to ambush people, if he's a stealth killer? Why should Survivors get a free get-away? Why should he be unable to sneak up and attack, if he's a stealth Killer?
And that's what the other guys wants; 'a fair chance to get away' means 'something that mechanically stops him from ambushing me'. Because there are ALREADY multiple ways to know he's nearby. The dude is just asking for MORE.
Which would make Wraith useless.

How would you propose they prevent a killer standing and walking in a certain place?
Another question is; how do you prevent Survivors from abusing any mechanic that blocks the Killer?
And imagine jungle-gyms and L-shapes with a hooked Survivor; the killer can't chase in them, because he has to take the long way around, because he's blocked from the hook. They become infinites.
Or Survivors run into the exclusion zone, then stop and mend, because the Killer can't enter.
And has for teleporting hooks; if Survivors are near the hook, or not working on gens; why should I leave? And why should the HOOK leave? Just to let Survivors get that free, undeserved unhook?
That's why I hate these kind of threads. They are nothing more than Survivors begging the Devs to PLEASE give free unhooks, or otherwise punish Killers for playing in a way the Survivors don't approve of.
-
No. And no.
And the reason is that Survivors refuse to accept losses, blame 'camping', and demand devs tie Killer's hands with BS punishments meant to give Survivors free unhooks.
