No. Punishments have been tried; Survivors abused them. Accept that Killers are people, and they get to decide how they play, not you.
All Survivors should get is BP for being on the hook with the Killer nearby. 'Distraction' points, or something.

It surprises me how players go out of their way to be a bad sport in this game.
when I think I’ve met all the toxic buba’s, oh no.
Third seal, trail of torment, knockout and infectious.
the killer had no more than 5 hook actions, two of us bled out and he hooked the other two when they were also on the brink.
He refused to hook, until people started to die from bleeding, is this not considered taking the game hostage?
No, because the game will still end. Either you will bleed out, or die on the hooks.
It's a jerk move, but it's not against the rules and it's not taking the hostage, because the game will still end.

actually im a killer main u could say, i play 70% killer and 30% survivors but i play both on the highest level with over 5000 hours invested in the game and very dedicated player who is highly skilled at looping and combining tiles perfectly(map knowledge), and aware of every totem spawn location on all the maps, also as a killer i got over 99%winrate, meaning i can do 100streak wins no problem, what do u know? im telling u camping killers that camp and have 3 gen lockdown and noed in the end waiting. those kinds of killers ruin the game for solo players. hooktime should be extended for the health of the game. thats all, thats my opinion overall. and now that bt is only 12sec, its so easy for killers to just wait that time and block windows if needed. honestly instead of insulting people u should go and improve ur game so u can learn to agree with people.
Extending hook times would not help the health of the game. What Killers remain would quit en-masse.
Survivors would have the 4 perks meta, SWF with voice comms, and then an easily abuseable mechanic that gives them free unhooks because it punishes Killers in a way they can, as I've said, abuse.
Killers would be forced to give up hooks even in situations where camping is needed to slow down gen speeds. While Survivors keep banging out gens in under 5 minutes.
There would be no reason to play Killer anymore, because the game would be so lopsided towards Survivors. So don't give me that 'health of the game' tripe. Either you have no idea what's really good for the game, or you are just trying to push for a mechanic you know is broken so you can abuse it.
-
I don't know if I said it to you before, but it's latency. To the server, you were at 99%, not 100%, when the Killer started hooking you.
Keep in mind, we can start the hook animation from odd angles, and we slide into place. That gives up roughly 1-2 meters of reach.

Why do you say that?
Because the whole game lore is that the Survivors are helpless victims. They can fight back, slightly, now. But they would never have freaking weapons to beat the Killer with.
Plus, the idea is based on OP not liking camping or tunneling. So he wants to ruin the game dynamic because he's salty that Killers played in a way he does not approve of.

camping 100% should be punished. i would extend the hook time if i could so camping would never work against half decent players, tunnel or slug i dont mind because u can counter it, yet camp is truly nasty because this game is not just swfs, its also for solo players who want to enjoy it but it ruined because of so many salty killers out there who cannot live without infinite 4k games. sometimes people should lose dont u think? u think u should always win if ur skill is on par with the survivors? dont u think dh that dont work 90% of the time is in ur favor? dont u think u get carried enough? i mainly play killer and im fed up with how easy killer is at this moment.
Translation: I'm a Survivor main & I want free unhooks.
Guess what? Camping only works if you stop doing gens. Survivors don't deserve to unhook someone just because they want it really, really hard. Shocking, I know.
But every 'punish camping' thread is actually some variation of the following statement:
'I want to unhook that person, but the Killer won't move. Now, I could continue to do gens, and pressure the Killer away from the hook. Or, I can blame the Killer for doing his objective, ignore my own mistakes, and demand the devs force the Killer to move away from the hook.'
I mean, hate me if you want; this is what every 'punish camping/slugging/tunneling' thread is, at its core. 🤷
-
Heck no. This would be a 5th perk, on top of a 4 perk meta, on top of SWF w/ voice comms.
Why is it everyone's answers to 'camping' (which is not a 'problem' and does not 'need fixing'), is something that completely screws over Killers?
It's like everyone's motive is just to make the game easier for Survivors. 🤔

Isn't that currently the way game is, i mean without my proposal, that if you go chase a survivor another can come unhook?
I think your trying to say that the killer would want to sit around the hook and camp until the survivor dies and this woukd prevent it? If that's the case then I guess your agreeing my proposal works as intended. If I misunderstood you though let me know
Your idea works as intended; it upsets the game balance and punishes Killers while giving Survivors an easily-abused way to get free unhooks.
It's a trash idea made by someone clearly biased against Killers, who does not care about actual game balance or the reason behind camping.
But it works as intended. Provided that intent is to thoughtlessly screw over Killers for spiteful reasons, or get free unhooks you feel you deserve for no reason. Gratz.
-
I honestly don't get it.
A Killer's goal is to kill you. He's now aware that you can see him, and he can see you. For all he knows; you're on SWF and playing Surveillance Camera for your team.
And yet you expect him to...what? Ignore you? When you ping in his screen every 30 seconds? Let you continue to give away his location?
Why is he 'tunneling' you for getting rid of a surveillance perk?
-
Umm...If the Killer wants his movements to be secret, he has to remove your eyes. Not sure why basic tactics always come as a surprise to Survivors. 🤷
-
You're fighting the Entity trying to devour you & getting weaker as you go; you're not supposed to have EZ skillchecks so you can see the Killer's actions while you take a vacation on the hook.
-
I'm not all that good, but I kind of treat Trickster like Huntress; I wait for vaults and pallet drops to knife people. They are wasting some of the run-away speedup in the vault/pallet animation when my knives injure them.
After that, if I don't see many openings to put a bunch of knives in them, I just loop them and M1.
-
The bottom line is that camping is legit, so it does not need to be fixed.
All these threads are is 'I want free unhooks. Force the Killer to give me free unhooks'.
Which is not going to happen. So folks can either continue to blame 'cheap tactics' or look at how they got out played and get better at the game.
Edit: Fixed typos
-
I think this is OP. It not only moves a Survivor away from a Killer, but also increases their recovery speed?
That can be used to drag someone the last 75% of their bar while keeping away from a Killer. It has no drawbacks, and even boosts recovery while being mobile. If anything, being dragged across the dirty ground while bleeding to death should make it HARDER to recover, not easier.
-
Honestly, DMS should not start its countdown until someone leaves a gen. If you have a team that does not stop gens, then the perk never procs.
Plus, it's rather trash anyways; someone stops doing gens after a hook to go save the dude on the hook. So why does it matter if they suddenly can't do that generator for a few seconds?
Unless...does it kick everyone off a gen if one person stops working?

But teammate can't body block anymore right and I understand that but my Bar gets all the way full but it doesn't let me go even if the bar is full is this a bug ?
It's probably not quite full, unless there is indeed a bug. Plus latency; sometimes you will get a full bar just before a Killer hooks you, but the servers said the hook started before your wriggle meter hit 100%.
And teammates can bodyblock; the Killer has to stand in a magical spot directly in front of a hook to hook you, which Survivors can block for at least a few moments while Survivors can unhook from anywhere in a roughly 90 degree arc in front of the hook.

Tunneling is a part of the game.
It's just ######### to do it to someone early on as, you relentlessly remove them from the game.
It can be increasingly frustrating when survivor cues are close to ten minutes long.
True, but if Killer's don't eliminate someone fast...they lose.
Gen speeds are so damn fast, and the only way Killers can slow them down is by:
- Hooking (A temp fix, as Survivors can be unhooked)
- Killing. (The only permanent way to reduce gen speeds by a large amount)
When Survivors whimper about how 'unfair' and 'unfun' camping/slugging/tunneling is, they are either forgetting, or don't care, that they are the only consistent tools across every Killer for slowing down gen speeds & buying some time. All they care about is how they don't consider it 'fair' for Survivors to knock them out of the game. Which, and I repeat for all Survivors reading this; This is the Killer's goal. it is in his name.
Our goal is to 'relentlessly remove them from the game', as you put it. It's not up to the Survivors to decide WHEN we can kill them, or 90% of them would say 'Never'. The nature of PvP games is that someone will get knocked out first. You can't limit that without literally screwing over the Killer's goal.
And that's not counting the thousands of times Survivors will literally follow me to the hook, know that I can see them, then screech in end game chat 'YoU wErE cAmPiNg!', or get unhooked, heal under the hook (or start cleansing a totem 5 feet away) and 'StOp TuNnElInG!'

Funny I keep hearing that people post it was abused but when I ask them how the answer I get tends to be well it stopped camping when the killer wanted to camp so that's abuse..... which always seemed weird that killers think stopping camping is a form if abuse.
Except for one guy who pointed out that survivors woukd lead a chase back to the hook hence the chase exception. I'm going to ask you of you could explain the abuse because I'm always trying to improve my proposal but again don't bother if the abuse is just that it stopped camping becuase rewmebr that's the goal.
Oh and as a handy test if you replace the survivor action your going to claim is abuse with something like "the survivors stood in a corner across the map" and it has the same effect on the killer as your example, then it's not an abuse
Here we go again. 'It's not abused because it does exactly what I want, while also ignoring any and all times where camping is needed to apply pressure! But because that only affects Killers; I'm fine with it!'
You've been told how it was abused. You not seeing it does not change the past. Nor does it mean it will be added if you beg hard enough. The mods even pointed out earlier tonight, that camping, slugging, and tunneling are not against the rules.
Make up all the 'punishments' you want; none of them will ever appear in the game.

"Survivors do everything in their power to complete their objective."
Nothing a survivor can do will eject the killer from the game early.
But winning ejects the Killer form the game.
People are acting like the Killer is boo-hoo evil mean man for playing his objective if he does not play the way Survivors want, or does not personally ensure he hooks every Survivor in rotating alphabetical order, thus ensuring everyone gets optimum play time.
The 👏 Killer's 👏 Job 👏 Is 👏 To 👏 Kill 👏
Not to ensure you get to play for 5 minutes before he kills you.
Not to ask you over PMs if it's okay to hook you now.
Not to keep a timer.
Not to ask permission to attack.
His goal, like Survivor's, in a PvP game, IS TO WIN.
Hitting the wounded Survivor achieves his goal quicker than hitting the healthy Survivor.
JUST LIKE SURVIVORS GO BACK TO ALREADY WORKED-ON GENERATORS INSTEAD OF RUNNING OFF TO A FRESH ONE.
But people acts like the Killer is being some evil, scummy troll because he's GASP playing his best to win! WHUUUUUUH!? Only Survivors are allowed to try winning, according to these forums!

And most of the time it's because of the other 3 survivors, so I personally don't care about their game at that point.
Then don't play. Make the player pool better by taking one more quitter out of it.
-
You do realize, if 'tunneling' were punished, unhooked Survivors would THROW themselves at a Killer to let their friends get away, because the Killer would be punished for hitting them.
Because they were just unhooked, and thus hitting them would be 'tunneling'.
But I'm sure Survivor mains are fine with that. They see nothing wrong with such an abuseable mechanic. Just like the camping one!
-
Honestly, I don't know how well it'd work, but I'd run Ruin and Surge.
Or Pop & Surge. Does that work?
-
No.
I hate how dying early denies me stacks on some perks, but it also screws over your teammates.
If this forum had it's way, the game would die:
No slugging. No camping. No tunneling. No NoED. SWF with 4 meta perks on voice comms is fine. And now people want the right to throw matches. Or want the DC penalty removed. Or want to pick who the Killer player can play.
No match would ever be played to completion unless every player was sure they'd win, and since it's a PvP game, there will always be players that lose.

Survivors don't deserve special treatment it's bad enough they are boosted with their 5th free perk (comms)
Why would I go for the healthy person that hasn't been hooked the whole game when the injured person on death hook IS RIGHT THERE
Because, according to Survivors, actually killing people as the Killer is 'unfun' and it's 'unfair' if they don't get all 3 hooks (camping), plus the ability to heal between health states (Tunneling), or you don't promptly pick them up for a flashlight or pallet save from their nearby friend (slugging).
But ALSO according to survivors: Gen speeds are fine, NoED is broken, and 4 people running 4 meta perks each, plus voice comms, is 'just part of the game'. But camping, slugging, and tunneling to create pressure? OH HEEEEEL NAW! 😂

Yours first started to hit the board in March, and your very first day you were already complaining about stuff. You didn't even know the game yet, but you knew what you disliked. You have to realize how entitled that is right?
You think people come to the forums just to say "I am content, change nothing"? Yes, I started with a confirmation that there is a sound bug. Sue me.
You and I (and anyone else serious) have to come up with workable options, actual feedback that the DEV can use which hasn't already been tried.
And I'd be more than happy to brainstorm (Already had ideas about extended sabotages and utilising something akin to blue glyphs), but that still doesn't take away from the fact that camping is bad for gameplay and should be strongly disincentivised.
Ideally with improvements to the killer role. The idea that the killer role needs to be improved isn't mutually exclusive with the idea that camping is bad for gameplay.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2171376#Comment_2171376
You're still not forced to give away the unhook if the hookstate still progresses, just slower. You can just sit on the hook and let the last remaining survivor do the remaining gens solo if you want. But you just can't expect to get more than one kill, even against un-coordinated teams, if you go camping.
How about this? If I'm forced to give your entitled butt free unhooks you lack the skill to get normally, then I want all Survivors to be forced to fail skillchecks if they make too many in a row. It's UNFAIR and UNFUN when 2-3 gens pop within one 60 second chase! Gen rushing is totally unfair and unfun and needs to be punished! Stop letting Survivors do their objective!
Slower gens in exchange for no camping? I'll bloody take it. Seriously, I have no qualms with slowing down gen speeds in exchange for no camping. I've stated that before, too.
You need to get it through your head that I want the game to be more fun for BOTH sides. Take the pressure of killers and give them more options while massively weakening the options that take the fun out of the game.
Again, it's not a zero sum thing.
But you're not giving options. You're taking away the Killer's choice to camp. Because now he's either giving Survivors more time to do do gens, or he HAS to walk away & allow an unhook.
What is so hard to understand about that? Walking away is the Killer's choice. being punished for making the 'wrong' choice is not a real choice. You are removing player agency you don't like.
And good luck with your Survivor queue times when you do that.
Just suck it TF up. Camping is sometimes needed, same with slugging and tunneling. You can either keep whining for a change that never comes, or accept it and play around it.
I'm over these stupid 'PUNISH CAMPING' posts. It's just a form of whining over losing. Bye.

Whenever someone threatens you; take a photo/screenshot.
If they are on a platform with an account you can look up; do so. Then send the information to your local police. Hell, if it's death threats or, as one poster said, information about his child's school; contact the FBI (or your countries equivalent?). In most places, they take that stuff VERY seriously.
And with a screen name AND Xbox/PSN/Steam account, they can trace the person down.

You want to kill, huh?
Well, there's two survivors presenting themselves on a silver platter to you, so you're getting exactly what you want, AND they're slowing their own objective progression down so they give you more time, too!
Except, with your idea, I am ALSO slowing down MY objective progression. So that's a wash.
And if I chase one, the other unhooks.
If I have 1 hooked and 2 idiots standing around; why should I be punished or forced to give away the unhook? Oh, right; because you're entitled and think there's nothing wrong with the game giving you a free unhook.
It was tried. It was abused (even if you are too biased to see it), and it was removed. Twice.
No matter what your views are on trying it so you can abuse it a third time; it's not happening. Camping, slugging, and tunneling are legit strats. Grow up and accept them, or stop playing.
Because, if you can't accept the opponent trying to win just as much as you, then clearly PvP games aren't for you.
It would be like if you logged into CS:GO and whined that 'It's not fair that I keep getting shot first! Being knocked out of the match is unfun! The enemy team should have NERF darts for 60 seconds so I can play before I lose!'
Our goal is to knock you out of the match. You don't get to decide if HOW we did it is 'unfair' or 'unfun', because LOSING IS NOT AS FUN AS WINNING.
So long as a person ain't freaking cheating or exploiting glitches (I'm looking at Survivors who hide behind hooks to avoid being picked up); your insipid little ideas about HOW we won mean nothing.
How about this? If I'm forced to give your entitled butt free unhooks you lack the skill to get normally, then I want all Survivors to be forced to fail skillchecks if they make too many in a row. The Killer is now FORCED to either camp, because chasing one guy means the other unhooks, with a Struggle meter penalty giving Survivor #1 extra time to solo generators. Or walk away & let a Survivor unhook.
Oh no, not the anti-camping mechanism making camping an ineffective strategy!
Hey, if that's considered abuse of the anti-camping measure, can we also have killers forced to declare they're approaching you when they have undetectable? Since it's kinda abusing undetectable if you sneak up on someone undetected.
You're ignoring everything to get to that point; The Killer should not be punished for 'camping' when two people are clearly waiting for an unhook.
Why are Survivors so thick that they can't understand this? All they think is 'Camping = bad!' and that every unhook = good, so forcing free unhooks is perfectly balanced. Because they benefit.
The Killer is a player, his goal is to kill you. To. Kill. You. TO KILL YOU.
Should I say it slower? TOOOOO KILLLLLL YOUUUUUU.
So no, he should not be punished because you don't like HOW he is trying to, and say it with me: TO 👏 KILL 👏 YOU 👏.
This is as stupid as Killers demanding Survivors get punished for doing gens; it's the objective. The other side, being biased, does not decide how you do it.
Git fregging gud.

So was perma-sabo. Something being in the game is no excuse, since that's why we have a feedback forum. Game design always goes through many iterations because no design is immaculate.
But out of those three, Camping is the best example: It's simply not fun for anyone involved. The person getting camped is not having fun. The people holding M1 on gen are not having fun. The killer simply staring at their victim or bobbing up and down that hook is not having fun.
The entire purpose of the game falls apart completely when camping. And it's holding other developments hostage as well, since you can't actually improve the issue with survivor objective speed due to any slowdown on that front being a direct and unmitigable buff to camping. It's only a 1K? Well, now the gens take so long that the killer can sit out both hookstates and then find and down a second victim before gen 5 pops and the gates are open.
Imagine what non-Kindred solo queue would be like. Yuck.
Slugging and tunnelling are considerably less egregious, but camping is the literal worst thing DBD has to offer and there's no real argument for wanting to keep it. In particular, the idea of slowing the hookstate progression while the killer is nearby and not in a chase seems a perfectly tailored solution that helps reduce its viability without hindering normal gameplay.
And once camping is done away with, genrushing can be addressed.
Slowing the hookstate was tried and abused. TWICE. Let me point out how for the 8th time since I joined a week ago.:
Survivor #1 works on gens. #2 and #3 stand 50 yards away, out in the open. In different directions.
This means #2 & #3 cannot be chased; they are too far away. The chase will not start until the Killer is so far from the hook that it's a free unhook. Because whichever Survivor is walked towards will run away, making it take longer to trigger a chase.
The Killer is now FORCED to either camp, because chasing one guy means the other unhooks, with a Struggle meter penalty giving Survivor #1 extra time to solo generators. Or walk away & let a Survivor unhook.
This means the Killer NO LONGER HAS PLAYER AGENCY. The GAME is telling him he has to allow a free unhook, or be punished. He no longer gets to decide if camping is a good strategy now. The game, uncaring, flips him the middle finger. EVEN THROUGH TWO SURIVORS ARE CLEARLY READY TO UNHOOK.
THAT is what people are asking for with this stupid 'suggestion'. For the Killer to no longer decide what he can do. For Survivors to be gift-wrapped free unhooks from a mechanic, because if the Killer tries to defend the hook, WHICH IS THE SMART PLAY WITH TWO SURVIVORS NEARBY, then the Struggle Meter is slowed.
And you don't deserve a free unhook just because you stomp your feet and go 'Buh camping baaaaad! Bad man not give me my unhooks!'
This is a PvP game. My goal, as a Killer, is to KILL YOU. Not pat you on the head and say 'Go unhook them, champ! I'll go hide until you unhook, and heal, and go gens for 80 seconds.'
STOP ASKING FOR CAMPING PUNISHMENTS. IT'S JUST A THINLY-VIELED ATTEMPT TO FORCE UNHOOKS BECAUSE YOU DON'T LIKE LOSING. THE KILLER IS A GODS DAMNED PLAYER, TOO; STOP DICTATING HOW THEY PLAY.

I'm not demanding that you play less hard, I am requesting that the devs make camping, slugging and tunneling less attractive or convenient.
One can also say that people who fully support these tactics at all times just want to be able to win easier, which is true, for if they didn't want an easy win, they wouldn't tunnel, slug or camp at the start of the match.
Also, this has nothing to do with swf. I actually believe that the devs need to balance the entire game around swf on comms. Killers should be buffed so they can have fair matches against cheaters who use outside communications, while also bringing up solo so they don't suffer even more than they already do.
You probably think I am a biased survivor main, but feel free to look up my comment history and you will see I am not.
Killers already get less points and BP. What else can they do?
If they add mechanical punishments in a match, it will screw over Killers when camping, slugging, or tunneling are pivotal moments that swing a match. It will force Killers to lose because of a punishment mechanic.
Good look with Survivor queue times if THAT ever happens. Killers will leave en masse, since they no longer have the agency to pick, and the game is forcing losses for a punishment meant to appease Survivors who don't want to learn to play better.

It is a game problem. The game is supposed to provide fun for both sides and if the devs want to retain customers, they need to discourage these tactics from being used at the early parts of the match.
"Sometimes" isn't enough of a reason, more often than not, killers camp because they're either lazy or just as bad, if not worse, than the potatoes they're facing.
Other than protecting a totem, there is no reason to camp when there are still 4/5 gens except for being bad, lazy or just wanting to be toxic.
So is SWF with voice coms. Sometimes people don't use it to sweat & be toxic. 'Sometimes' is not enough of a reason.
More often than not, people use it to depip Killers, bully them, and get unfair advantages. SWFs use it to be lazy.
See how it works in reverse?
Camping, slugging, and tunneling are PLAYER CHOICES. You don't get to demand we play less hard for you. All whining about these tactics is, is trying to tie our hands so you can win easier.

A Rocket Launcher could work like Clowns bottles; a splash attack. Only launched instead of a throwing arc:

Smoke Rockets: Survivors in the smoke cough and suffer from Blindness.
Acid Rockets: Survivors suffer form Slowdown.
Etc. Etc.

Have you ever got response from devs after reporting the person directly? They ask you for video proof doesn't matter if I report a person with no proof they won't be banned I did report them btw and it won't solve anything
Just because the devs don't respond does not mean they don't read reports.
Imagine how many people are playing & giving reports every hour, never mind in a 12 or 24 hour period. They cannot actually respond to all those reports. Just because they don't respond does not mean they don't read them & take action.

To order to get succesful report you gotta have video with no proofs they won't ban the person and not everyone is fiming themselves playing a video game so you can't do anything about it smh about reporting
If a person has enough reports about doing something wrong, it's likely he did something wrong, and will get punished. Smh about not reporting.

Ah, yes, the killer is punished with a 3K already in the bank, but they still need a guaranteed 4K because the 50-50 in their favor isn't enough.
Ah yes, the Killer is winning, but gets denied his final kill because of a coin flip that Survivors believe they deserve for...failing?

How can they do anything if you don't report it? The devs are not psychic; they don't magically know someone is body blocking.

Checking the wiki; the Trickster does indeed swear.

All I see is someone using confirmation bias & spamming their own thread. Just because you lost does not make the setup OP. Nor is it OP because the Killer got a 4K.
People have told you why it's not OP, and you've ignored them. All that blaming 'op' builds does is prevent you from learning from any mistakes that you have made, so you keep making them, keep dying, and keep blaming everything but yourself.

Mechanics? I'm assuming you mean modifiers? Things that change how the match plays?
Eeehh...People would blame them if they lose.
