Unfortunately the current meta is "run the best perks and items" Spirit IS very strong but SWF is way stronger. Any killer beside spirit will get wrecked by a 4 man swf with comms. When they fix swf then they should fix spirit
But then again, swf games aren't all the games you play and solo players get demolished.

Yeah, but none of the survivors I play with ever care about that part, because 95% of them don't run it.
You could consider running Kindred, would at least tell the other survivors if the killer is closeby.

The event will (probably) come back next year and then they'll be usable again. Think of it as a future investment.

because it's not their fault that their team is #########. It's also not free, you have to find the hatch before the killer does and you're probably dead if you don't because the survivor pretty much always loses the gate game unless they get lucky gate positions.
DbD is a team game whether you like it or not. If your team does bad everyone pays for it. Also, if your team is bad, have you considered ranking up? I don't have terrible teammates in red and purple ranks and when I do, I take what emblem points I can and try to go for a pip.

why should you get a 4k every match?
Why should the survivor escape for free by sheer luck when their team did nothing?

I get really frustrated as survivor that so many of my teammates don't use BT, but I don't think it should be base kit: it's just too strong of a perk. Instead, it should have a "selfish" benefit attached to it that would make it more attractive to solo survivors, like some sort of BP bonus.
The bonus is your teammates not dying as fast. The perk is top tier already, it doesn't need anything.
-
What do you suggest toolboxes do then instead? Only sabotage? We both know that won't be good enough.
-
Her base ms should at least be on par with survivor if you ask me. She will still lose distance if survivors cut corners sharp due to the hitbox size difference.

Ok first, overperforming. A killer should (we assume) average 2 kills per match if they are "balanced," good survivors should beat them, bad survivors should die to them, good killer players should do well on them, bad killer players will probably struggle.
If a killer is overperforming, that means that they're averaging far more kills than that. It isn't simply that good players are playing them a lot, but that their power gives too much reward for how difficult it is to use. Spirit is not difficult to use, her power gives her huge mobility, allows her to land easy hits with very little counterplay on the survivor's side (there's not really anything you can do about a killer bumping into you and knowing exactly where to swing when you have no idea if they're behind you or in front of you) and her add ons present some huge issues, like Prayer Beads.
To say "don't nerf Spirit, buff everything else" is what people (Nurse mains) said for years about Nurse. The issue is that that presumes that Spirit is balanced, and that buffing everything else up bring EVERYTHING to a point of balance. From the information we're given (that she is "overperforming") we know she ISN'T balanced.
Nerfing her, like Nurse, is not going to bring her down to M1 killer tier by default. There's a lot of small tweaks (taking out prayer beads, no collision while phasing, no passive phasing, an actual tell to her standing-still "mind game") that would make her much fairer to play against without hurting most good Spirit players significantly.
People who like killer don't often just suddenly start enjoying survivor more. People play different killers, it's more about the hunting and gameplay than it is about just playing DBD. Red rank killers don't HAVE to play the most broken thing in the game to do well, and if they do, they probably shouldn't be highly ranked anyway. It's incredibly unlikely that changing Spirit would magically kill red ranks. Consider that most of these killer nerfs, buffs and reworks are coming alongside map reworks that make playing other killers less cumbersome, and a lot of fixes to things on the survivor side as well. It isn't as simple as "nerf Spirit, killer as a whole is dead."
Yes, there is a "next" after Spirit too, the devs basically gave a not-quite-concise list on the Q&A this week, mostly problematic add ons like Iridescent heads, or the Key/Mori situation. It doesn't mean 1 by 1 they're killing anything good, it's change to make both sides more enjoyable across the board by fixing overly strong aspects of the game that are oppressive because of how strong they are. Sadly, Spirit is one of those things.
Couldn't have said it better myself. Killers (both sides in fact but killers here) think that the devs are out to get them and are trying to ruin their fun and only help the other side when in fact they're just doing balance like any other game developer. It might just be because DbD is an asymmetric game that the us vs them mentality is amplified because the gameplay is literally us vs them style.

might as well prepare for it, if a killer kills too well they have to get nerfed
overperforming is bad in dbd for some reason lol were too good at the game lmao
This is what is called "balance". If something is too powerful (in this case, Spirit, having a significantly higher kill rate than she should) it is going to be nerfed.
Is this something new?

Kindred is a good perk for selfless people. People who know the power of the perk even if they don't get to use the effects themselves. You don't really see the effects yourself so it might not seem like such a good perk.
Kindred is fine as is. The perk provides a lot of valuable information to your team.

Styptic isn't that common so it isn't really that big of a problem. Also having an on demand endurance is still pretty powerful in most situations.

Well I think you mistitled the post. The rift isn't broken, it just isn't that generous with auric cells.

I disagree, Ive had games where the killer was constantly guarding the totem and making sure if he didnt know where survivors were, that they werent on the totem
like on trapper if your totem isnt out in the open, all you have to do is put a trap in front of it and its ungettable cause if they disarm the trap and you head over as soon as you get the notification they cant get it done by the time you get there on most maps. and even if they do get it done youre almost definitely gonna get a hit on them because youll be on them when they finish the totem.
or with hag literally just trap them and if your trap goes off port to it. granted hags traps you can avoid but still
or if youre against a doctor and he shocks you when youre cleansing youre forced to stop cleansing and scream
or clown if he hits you with gas while youre cleansing, you also stop to scream
ghostface and michael cant exactly make you stop cleansing but if they find you cleansing and stalk you then by the time you finish cleansing theyll have marked you/tiered up
billy and bubba can chainsaw you so you can either run or try finishing the totem and get instadowned
demogorgon can put portals on the totems so if you go to cleanse them he can pop up behind you and munch your butt
tbh idk how plague works like if you get forced into an animation when puked on or not but for arguements sake lets say you dont
thats more than half the killers that can either force you to stop cleansing or will severely punish you for trying to commit to the cleanse when theyre there
and if they have thrill then its just easier for them to be on top of their totems without needing to stay right near it
i agree with you that this would be a survivor buff and a killer nerf overall but i say thats desperately needed because killers are way too strong rn like they can literally hit you from like 5 feet away through windows and #########, and unless they fix that (which i doubt they will) then we need to give survivors a little love
If a killer is constantly guarding a totem, just go do a gen. He can't guard both.

It's not even been 2 days since the stream and you're already looking at trends. Give it a few months and there'll be plenty more of them until bhvr actually tells what will be changed.
What you might expect to see are suggestion threads as to what bhvr should change in her.

I would go as far as "rarely playable" but the nerf does suck big time for him.

Obviously people can't read. It was ALREADY WORKING WITH MLGA. Your stupid article does NOT apply.
The article still applies. There were people who used mlga to block simply better players.
DbD should not add an avoid/block feature because there will be players who will abuse it to get easier opponents.

The event score (3k for hooking/completing event generator) don't count as regular bloodpoints (they don't go into any specific category) and as such those won't be doubled.

Yeah, but why do people think that they NEED to complete every challenge? Why do people think they are entitled to get everything done?
From the picture, I see that the Lore-Challenges are pretty doable. This is the important thing for me. The rest will be something that either needs effort, or will be ignored. Like, I will not sweat for some of those challenges, just to get a few Rift Fragments, which I will get anyway by playing the game.
I don't think I need to complete the challenges (never planned to even before the ptb), I'm merely observing.
This just shows what the developers were really after when they made the archives. They don't want people to be able to complete the rift.
I understand battlepasses in f2p games but come on. DbD is a $20 games with $100+ of dlc (granted some of that dlc can be acquired with gameplay but there is still a significant amount that can not) and they are trying to squeeze every last drop of players.
Some f2p games have easier battlepasses than DbD and this just blows my mind.

Are those the actual challenges? Or the PTB-ones?
Because Level 1 already changed from the PTB.
But anyway, not everyone has to reach everything... A little bit of effort required in DBD is nice, there is no real effort otherwise.
Except these aren't challenges. It's the same thing as saying no-blink nurse is a challenge, it's not. You can not possibly win as no-blink nurse without the survivors intentionally throwing. It's not about effort at that point, not a test of skill, just luck.

I mean, maybe with certain
"dark senses" though
"Completely repair 4 generators using the perk dark sense"
Ok
"complete this challenge in a single trial"
As a solo player, it's infuriating. It is not feasible to complete 4 generators, even if it only meant to complete (aka you're there when the generator is turned on) it would still be extremely difficult and annoying.

pemberley is talking about the later challenges, specifically level 4.
-
Some of these challenges are literally impossible to complete unless the killer/survivors are farming and/or your teammates let you do them.
Also, everyone will be trying these same challenges at the same time and when 3 survivors try to flashlight save then no one gets it.
Just looking at these challenges it's clear that bhvr never wants anyone to complete these and instead purchase the rest of the tiers with auric cells.

It's only paired with Tuft because it's the only way to MAYBE get the Evil Incarnate achievement. And even then, Judith's Tombstone + Fragrant Tuft is still a terrible combo because by the time you reach EW3, the Exit Gates are probably already powered. Unless you are playing against full-on potatoes or get extremely lucky, Judith's + Tuft + PWYF isn't worth it outside of the achievement hunt.

Hardly constructive feedback. You don't say how or why it needs the nerf. It's already niche.
It should not be able to mori a survivor, especially when that survivor can be healthy or even injured.

All the best characters and (most) perks are free from the getgo and others you can unlock with shards either through the store (9k shards per non-licensed dlc character) or the shrine (2k shards per teachable perk).

But they still hear the sound of phasing (obv not w/ prayer beads), can stop running any time they wish, and can run a perk to make them quiet while injured.
I know using specific perks to have a counter on a killer isn't the best design but in this case I think it's not too bad since it's mostly related to sound which is something you have some control over as a survivor even without the perk.
And that perk can be negated by another killer perk making it entirely useless. Survivors also only hear phasing outside the terror radius making it a useless counter in a chase.

+ mind games
+ speed boost
+ non-discrete power bar
-Can't see survivors or blood (without addon)
-cooldown
-being m1 killer when not using power
-can lose survivors during power
I mean this is just a very rough outline but she seems balanced to me. She has her pros but she also is meh as ######### outside of that like every other m1 killer.
She still lacks counterplay from the survivors. She also offers a lot for the amount of skill needed to play her. As long as you have a good headset it is fairly easy to know where survivors are, even if they're not injured you can still hear survivor footsteps loud and clear most of the time. Even if by some chance you don't hear a survivor you have the chance to bump into them since you don't lose collision while using your power.
-
@xRem said:

Why? You get a notification and feed back she is not where, if you had it spelled out to you it would kill her, this gives you some feedback without ruining her. And if she phases and makes one mistake in the 5 seconds she has your a 110 killer for 20 seconds
It's still a blind guess on the survivors part as to what to do when she is phasing. You have nothing to react to.
@coppersly said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/793589#Comment_793589
she does have drawbacks.
She is literally an m1 killer until she can use her power, and then she is only an m2 killer for a few seconds before becoming a baseline m1 killer again.
Her ONLY other facet is her ability to stand still at pallets/windows and fake doing things. That is literally her only other ability outside of walking fast for 5 seconds.
That is why you don't use your power all in one go. You use it for a couple of seconds so you don't have to wait the full cooldown. Even if you only phasewalk for 2 seconds it is more than enough to get to the other side of a loop to a survivor. The drawback isn't great enough for the possibilities of the power. You have total free movement and you're invisible while phasing and the only thing you can't see is survivors.
-
@coppersly said:
The problem is if you give an indication that she's phasing then you will lose the mind game every single time against a good survivor. You become an m1 killer in essence which is the exact opposite of what makes killers viable at high rank.
How so? The survivor still doesn't know where you're phasing, just that you're phasing. The only thing that will no longer work is standing still (which tbh, was never a great tactic).
I don't think this is enough for her to become "balanced". Survivors need to know more or she needs to have more drawbacks.
-
Was going to correct you on the .2 second buffer but looks like Peanits did before me :P
-
I'd say we shouldn't be happy nor sad. I'm fairly certain BHVR isn't happy it got delayed.
-
What makes Spirit unfun to play against is the same thing what made Legion unfun to play against, your skill doesn't matter. Her power essentially boils down to a coinflip (more like 2 coins being flipped and unless both land on heads the survivor takes a hit).
-
I can agree, Spirit is not fun to face, but what you're suggesting is very unsportsmanlike.
You could post ideas for how to change the Spirit or what makes her so irritating to play against.
-
I liked old Freddy, not because the new Freddy is "annoying to face" and more noob friendly, but because he was the most unique killer in the game. His only real downfall was players complaining he was bad and his reliance on good rng (which made him a subpar killer).
