  • Yup, it's pretty ridiculous. Mabye it's because we're going towards the end of the season and all potato players finally managed to get to Rank 1 but it's seriously triggering me to play with incompetent Survivors.

I hate the fact that even when I duo with my friend we get so much information from each other, we even both run Bond to make it basically 3.5 perk game for us, we also dont use cruches, offerings or items.

Simple "hey ruin is in this jungle gym ill kite him away so you can get it" is game changing information that shouldnt exist in first place.

So yeah I play duo at max, and I'm all for nerfing SWF as its absurd how far you can take the advantage that SWF offers.

Exactly, and now imagine if there was a built-in voice chat? Ridiculous, right?

People talk about it as if it would be an easy thing. You'd have to rework half the perks and quite a few add-ons that rely on survivors unawareness.

  • @fluffybunny said:
I still personally really like the idea of all the survivors within a swf not being able to take in the same perks and keeping the end screen info secret until everyone escapes or is dead.

I like this idea aswell but I suppose this would be a too time-consuming to do.

Nonsense? They released it in a Dev stream for all platforms and majority of the players are already swf so you can GTFO with your salty killer bullshit and go back to your cry corner , it's under 50 even with all the killers on here who derank on purpose and who let all survivors farm points and escape compared to the occasional dc or game crashing from the survivor side , you just suck at the game suck it up and git gud , if you spent half as much time in game as you do in here you'd be a god at this game

It's OT nonsense because it has absolutely no relation to my topic. My topic is about SWFs and a way to balance out the advantage they get for having voice communication, it's not about basic balance between killers and survivors, solo or SWF, escape rates or whatever else. You're just another incompetent user that lacks any sort of reading comprehension and tries to turn every discussion into a Killer VS Survivor fight. STFU, seriously.

My suggestion is a fair trade-off, you limit the visual informations you can get on your own but gain constant global map awareness thanks to voice communication you get from playing in a SWF.

It has absolutely nothing to do with escape rates, pallet distribution, perk nerfs or whatever other bullshit you guys keep talking about.

I'm not sure if you're talking to @master here or me since there's no context to your last comment.

Dude firstly, I literally put a QUOTE before the statement that IS the context.

Secondly, you did not read my OP at all because you imply that my solution would nerf solo survivors while it in fact has ABSOLUTELY no impact on solos.

I'm not even going to keep discussing with you, your lack of reading comprehension is seriously pissing me off.

E: and after still reading your whole post I'm even more sure that I'm not going to discuss with you. This is not about Killer / Survivor imbalance, this is SOLELY about SWF with NO relation to ANYTHING else. Not SWF vs Killer, not SWF vs Solos but "SWF and their unintended advantage: Voice communication".

  • @OrionsFury4789 said:
Survival rates are still under 50% your argument is invalid and proven to be just an opinion of salty killer by the devs with their statistics and facts.

You shouldn’t be put at a disadvantage since you’re playing SWF- sometimes, the killer needs to learn how to play around it.

swf puts you at an advantage, but god forbid someone suggests balancing that. I guess swf can't learn to just play around that >.>

Balancing it and destroying it because some killers just can't get better are 2 different things and most of the suggestions aren't realistic or balanced.

It's hard to balance it when every suggestion gets torn apart by some SWFs that can't handle balance adjustments.

According to most SWFs, it's ALL about "Having fun with friends" - winning the match is not priority but I find it very ironic that as soon as they get pulled out of their comfort zone by nerfing SWFs, they play that "don't give us a disadvantage!!" excuse.

This is one reason why I despise SWF - not because they play with friends or because they play at a disadvantage but because they feel so entitled to it that it's legit impossible to find solutions.

YOU are already ruining the fun for the opposite side (just to make you realize that for once) and YOU are the reason why we can't balance it.

Of course there will be a mute button like in any other onlien game...... pls bro

If we implement ingame voice communication we'd have to remove / rework half the perks that exist in DbD. If that's "less of an effort" to you then that's fine but my guess is that you just never thought that through, did you? Changing half the perks or changing the FoW slider for SWFs, what's more of an effort? And also, explain to me how this would require a total rework of all animations? Really curious how you came to that conclusion.

And I'm seriously tired of all the "There is nothing we can do about it!"

WE CAN but it would require some support from the community and since there's (roughly) a 4:1 ratio of Survivors / Killers, it's next to impossible to get that support because guess what? SWFs are Survivors.

  • 2 things happened:

    • People learned how to play her
    • People got rekt by her on a regular basis

Result? OMG she IS strong! :O

  • I'm Rank 1 Killer and I also mostly play Billy and Spirit both without add-ons.

As Billy, I use Whispers, Monitor & Abuse, BBQ and Ruin. Yes, I still run Ruin because I still see many scrubs wasting time looking for the totem because they can't hit great skill checks.

As Spirit, I use PGTW instead of Ruin because it's very effective for my playstyle:

    • BBQ
    • PGTW
    • Sloppy Butcher
    • Whispers / Stridor

However, since you struggle with instaheals, I recommend you to try a different build, something like:

    • Monitor & Abuse
    • A Nurses Calling
    • MYC
    • Sloppy Butcher / Ruin / Something else to stall

Use the hooked Survivor as bait while staying relatively close to the hook (but obviously outside MYC radius). Because of the small terror radius with M&A you can often see them healing up as you run back to the hook before they notice - giving you the next easy down thanks to the MYC debuff.

    It's a bit scummy but I personally don't care anymore :)

  • @Master said:
Would be an incredible effort, all animations would have to be reworked etc etc.....

Eehh... why is that? All you need to do is reduce the FoV.

    @Master said:
Just implement ingame voice comms for everyone and balance the game around that

I don't want kids shouting in my ears, that solution is horrible (see F13)

  • From my experience, there is less toxicity in Rank 1. Of course there is a lot of tryharding during the match (which I really appreciate) but it's been a while since I got insulted.

There's a good portion of lowbob Survivors and Killers that derank on purpose to troll inexperienced players and then either insult them for "being bad" or insult them for owning them (because technically you shouldn't have been able to win since they're low rank).

  • Thanatophobia requires inefficient playstyles to become useful. 4 hits to get full effect, that's the amount of hits required to turn the match into a 3v1.

  • It was the Survivors decision to deny you the mori, they were asking for it and therefore it was certainly not you holding the game hostage. They had a chance to make it end sooner.

  • I'd gladly trade that add-on for the removal of that "sprint burst" upon getting hit by a hatchet.

Other quesion: What makes you think this was unintended? It's not exactly game breaking and only punishes survivors that were unaware or otherwise incompetent.

  • Actually, I think Hillbilly is a lot harder to master than Nurse. When I say "to master" I'm talking about being on a skill level that allows you to wipe coordinated high rank players.

Nurse is "hard to learn" but once you get used to the blink, you're ready. You are your own worst enemy at that point. You don't have to worry about most Exhaustion perks, you don't have to worry about DS, you don't have to worry about pallets and windows. It requires quick decision making and the ability to read Survivors movement but someone with a high blink accuracy will win most of the time - regardless of the survivors playstyle. Your only concern is to land those blinks. It doesn't really matter who you chase and where you chase them: You find somone, hook them and repeat until everyone is dead. Nothing can stop you from doing that.

Hillbilly is "easy to learn" (easy to land the chainsaw) but it requires a lot more to reach a skill level that allows you to wipe high skilled players. You need good map awareness, quick decision making but most importantly, you always need to play time-efficient. Is it worth chasing a survivor or should I go defend a certain area? Is it worth picking up that obsession or should I slug? Is it worth breaking that pallet or can I mindgame someone there or even land a 90° chainsaw? Even if you have 100% chainsaw accuracy, you can very easily lose the match because you made the wrong decisions. You have to outplay the Survivors.

That's also why Nurse is considered top tier. Once you reach a certain skill level it IS actually easy to win - especially if you use certain add-ons. Billy (and all other Killers) require a lot more experience to perform on a similar level because a lot more things need to be considered.

  • Stop looking down at them, all I see is a few players being highly attracted to you. Appreciate their presence, give them a hug or two instead of constantly running away from them and I'm sure you'll look at them from a differenct perspective.

Some people just desperately try to get some love. Give it to them and it shall come back.

  • This is what I'd suggest:

Either completly remove all her current +1/+2 blink add-ons and only leave Fragile Wheeze as Ultra Rare (+1 blink without penalty) and rework the other add-ons.

...or greatly increase the fatique duration when she uses additional blink add-ons - and don't just increase it when she actually uses all her blinks, it should be general. When the Nurse uses 3-4 blink add-ons, she will suffer from the increased fatique even if she just uses 1-2 blinks.

And generally make the fatique duration based on total distance traveled multiplied by the total amount of blinks. Accurate long range blinks will get rewarded this way while multiple inaccurate blinks would get punished.

As I see it right now, a basic 2 blink Nurse of high skill IS beatable. One blink to catch up, one blink to land the hit. It's a miss or hit at that point, depending on the juke skill of the survivor and your blink accuracy and prediction. Any additional blink is just there to make up for mistakes, making it a lot harder for Survivors to juke her. If a Survivor actually manages to juke 3-4 blinks, they should get rewarded for that.

E: That's been said, I find your suggestion interesting and I'm saying that as a (re)tired Nurse main.

  • The third part sounds interesting. Legion is currently the most annoying Killer to play as and to play against. If you play like you're supposed to, you won't achieve anything and if you play in a scummy way (moonwalk, frenzy tunnel) you at best end up with a 110% MS version of Hillbilly (if you use good add-ons). Not that bad in general, but just not good enough against high skilled players.

I'm thinking of a bit more complex buffs to them, buffs that require proper awareness to make use of - such as removing the terror radius during frenzy (or make it global just like the add-on). This could seriously distract Survivors.

Also, mending should be considered a healing action to increase build variations on them and to make up for the "anti-moonwalk" nerf.

  • If skill was a measurable value, the perfect balance for an asymmetrical game like DbD would be:

Killer skill equals the combined survivors skill divided by 4 (the average). If that skill is equal, the result should be 2 kills and 2 escapes.

Just looking at match results without considering skill differences is a bit risky because there is no real indicator for skill.

If the devs would implement a competitive game mode, or even just a "hardcore mode" where (only) experiences players could play at their full potential, this would help a lot to see actual balance for high skilled matches where everyone is dedicated to win.

Scratch marks are not visible during Frenzy. What's worse, I think the correct way to put it is that during Frenzy survivors don't leave scratch marks. This means even after Frenzy ended, there are no scratch marks on the path of a running survivor. You'll only be able to see scratch marks that appeared AFTER ending Frenzy.

This gives a very strong counterplay against Legion, especially considering that they tend to look for another victim after hitting one while in Frenzy. Basically, they lose sight of you, they lose you.

I think this will also make some tracking perks useful on him: I suspect Bloodhound, Stridor, maybe Whispers will be used more frequently.

    That's 100% it, thanks.

Confusing, annoying and irritating as hell. This Killer is not just a Survivor 2.'0 in apprearance but also regarding their power and gameplay.

  • Thanks. I mained Nurse before her "blink rework" and since then I'm maining Billy.

Takes a bit of practise to get used to their power but shouldn't be too hard.

  • @George_Soros said:
@PiiFree both my records and my experience suggests, when things turn salty, it's more about the personality of the player than the end result or playstyle. Many of the 3-4K games do not have salt after them.

I'm guessing the high salt content of your games is in no small part due to you playing on console. From what I hear, console players are much more immature than PC people.

What makes you think I'm playing on console? I'm on PC.

Of course this is all about personality of the player but to trigger certain reactions, all it takes is a merciless victory or a "too efficient" playstyle :)

I mean, we could go on like that forever, there's no way to prove what effectively triggers toxicity but from my experience, if many Survivors escape = more likely to get a gg and if they all die, you'll most likely get flamed. Just my experience. I also think we have to differenciate between "toxic" playstyles and toxic behaviour via insults. One doesn't justify the other, so even if I theoretically facecamp every survivor I come across, it would be mean but that wouldn't justify them insulting me. (I'm not doing that, just saying)

  • That doesn't surprise me at all then:

    20 x 0 kills
    9 x 1 kill
    12 x 2 kills
    13 x 3 kills
    8 x 4 kills

With a few farm matches and free hatch escapes.

If you don't tryhard, what makes you think you'd receive toxic reactions? Now try to play a bit more "objective-oriented" - as you're supposed to do after all - and let's see how they react ;)

I did the "Ironman challenge" as Billy; from Rank 20 to Rank 1 without ever using a single perk, add-on or offering and in the 51 matches I played, only a handful of Survivors managed to escape. You can imagine how much salt and insulting comments I got from that, but I never camped or tunneled, I simply played as efficient as possible...

  • OP, would be interesting to know how many of those games ended up in a 4k / 3k /2k / 0k?

I'm sure there is a direct relation to the results of your matches. People rarely judge the matches based on the actual experience during the game, all that matters is the result.

  • @George_Soros said:
Generally, you have much more of a chance of getting a gg after a 0K game than after a 4K. Sad, but unsurprising.

Exactly my point. As Killer, you are automatically put in the uncomfortable position of "being responsible for everyones fun" - and since no one likes to lose, a 4k usually means the match was not fun for the Survivors. If you tryhard, you're automatically a dick. As Survivor, you tryhard by default since that's "the only thing you can do as Survivor".

Isn't it a bit hypocritical to expect the Killers to care for your fun while you never consider how unfun your own playstyle might be for said Killers?

  • What would you think is stronger:

A base killer with 115% movement speed against Survivors with permanent Exposed status effect.

Or a Killer that can enter a stance that allows them to oneshot survivors, gives them an increased lunge range and moderately increases their vault speed when they need it? (Myers)

  • @Peanits said:
In my experience, you get what you give. If you play for fun and try not to make the game miserable for the other side, you get a lot of positivity. If you play like a dick, people get mad and treat you like one.

Does this justify insults, though? I know that teabagging, flashlight triggering and certain tactics (excessive looping, camping, tunneling, slugging, gen rushing) are not exactly fun to deal with but that shouldn't be an excuse for insulting someone after the match. You can be a dick ingame (or let's say a tryhard) and you can be a dick after the match (an actual toxic #########).

I wouldn't consider tryharding as toxic since that's basically just "making use of the mechanics the game provides". It's not my responsibility to make the game fun for everyone else so that shouldn't make me a dick by default.

  • @George_Soros said:
It's true my approach is hardly up to scientific standards. (Not that the topic is really worth a more rigorous approach and all the effort that comes with it.) But it baffles me why I NEVER got comments like that on my profile.

How long have you played this game? I only bought it 2018. June, though I have about 1300 hours now.

    Kinda jealous.

I've been playing since 2016 but I "only" have about 1600 hours. I can safely say that the more efficient you play as Killer, the more insults you'll receive. This shouldn't be a passive-aggressive provocation regarding your playstyle but it's true that you'd rather get negative feedback for stomping the Survivors as a Billy in 3 minutes compared to a 10 minutes Freddy match.

Freddy (technically) provides a relatively easy match for Survivors so blaming and insulting the Killer afterwards is a bit hypocritical since you're basically already making it as easy as possible for the Survivors to win and yet they still fail. That's nothing but embarassing for them.

Yes, I'm proud of that salt but it also makes me sad that I am part of such a toxic community. I've played 3000 hours of Dota 2 and not once received an insulting profile comment. I play DbD for 5 matches and I usually already got another insult on it.

  • That's great and all but my profile includes over 500 (mainly survivor) comments that tell otherwise and I'm not even a Killer main. I guess you can imagine that there were a lot more endgame chat insults.

The difference between your notes and my notes is that mine are all personalized feedbacks from individual players, effectively signed on my profile while yours are just numbers in the void.

  • Wow! Mind;Blown!
Is a bit mean though! :O

  • @towhead said:
this is actually a videogame but i can see why you are struggling now.

In DbD you get the chance to play a psychopathic Killer, that's the role you play in a match as Killer.

Of course as a RP-Lover I take this role very serious and I put a lot of dedication into acting like a psychopathic Killer. My playstyle should seem authentic, should make Survivors question my mentality and only then I am a really good Killer.

I honestly despise all Killers that refuse to take their role seriously, it makes the game boring and destroys the whole atmosphere. Even though it's just a video game, you are still supposed to take your role seriously.

Did you just indirectly call me stupid? I'm not just offended by that, I'm seriously triggered. I'll facecamp the next 3 Survivors because of you, hope you're happy now with that passive aggressive behaviour!

  • The most important question:

Can you leave salty comments on a "Epic Game Profile"?

If no, then no to Epic Games, simple. Would reduce the playerbase by roughly 80%.

  • Now that hit me hard. I always thought my LOLs came from providing funny content. I would never have expected that people were just making fun of me. I wish I was kidding but I'm not... Oh man, and this on a Monday, got me fully depressed again.

Some people don't put @ at the start of the quote (where it says "@Soandso said:"), so when someone quotes that person, it breaks everything else.

But it does that automatically when you hit "quote"....

  • I like your list but you missed the most important part; Under what circumstances did you rate the Killers? Best add-ons and perks? No perks or add-ons? Average "daily" loadout?

Anyway, since I have serious, very personal issues with Hag and Pig, I'd put both of them a tier lower than you did.

I'd put Leatherface a bit higher as I'm doing quite well with him. He is good at punishing survivors for their mistakes and since they usually make a lot, it makes him kinda strong. This is just due to my personal experience with them, I find it hard to rate Killers without considering my own performance with them. In the end that's all that matters - how I perform with them.
