If he dictates that the Survivors had done their objective optimally, while everyone pointing out various mistakes made by Tru3, this video becomes irrelevant. Tru3 was NOT playing optimally and therefore got outplayed.

Mind you, the depip squad's experiment is out of date. DbD has undergone various (and many) changes since then and is no longer in a bad state.

I was waiting for something like that.

What about No0b3's 50 consecutive escapes in red rank? That was a month ago.

I can pull that off. Anyone can. A good Killer could pull off consecutive 4ks in matches if they're good enough.

That's when it comes down to skill? Also, if you followed him, then you'd know there were countless people who let him go, and (I could be wrong on this one) he was in SWF atleast a 2-man from my understanding.

Alas, are we forgetting what optimal means?
    op·ti·mal
    /ˈäptəməl/Submit
    adjective
    best or most favorable; optimum.
    "seeking the optimal solution"

If the survivors are playing in the best way possible, and the killer isn't, of course he's going to lose (sh00k). It means they played their role better than he played his.

I've had killers demolish with a 4K at ease, and others struggle it was a 4 minute match. For all roles, for the entire game, I recommend Dr. Herman Carter's diagnosis.
    Git Gud

Funny that you have to go personal after I stated nothing but a fact with no relation to my personal playstyle or skill level.

But go ahead and show me 50 consecutive escapes of yours in red rank. I'm waiting, as you just claimed that you can do that and therefore owe me a proof. Just like the Killers had to prove that they can rek through Rank 1 Killers to make a point.

If you're not wiling to prove this, I consider that statement of yours as made-up bullshit and is therefore of no value because everyone can claim such #########.

    Good luck.

I don't want a game balanced around something the majority of players won't use.

The majority of the playerbase is already using voice communication even though it's not even implemented in the game.

  • Disappointed.

That's nothing compared to my salt collection.

What about blocking stairs? Isn't that refusing to participate in normal gameplay? I always report people who block stairs.

If they do it to hold the game hostage, then yes that's bannable.

If they do it to let Borrowed Time run off, then no that's not bannable but smart plays.

  • The depip squad has already proven that even perkless survivors have no problem stomping fully slotted high rank Killers.

At that point it's just ignorance of the community and developers, nothing more.

Remember the discussions pre depip squad?

"Killer mains be like; We can escape all the time... If that's true I want proof!" A typical statement of Survivors.

Few weeks later the depip squad provided results from their "experiments", the proof everyone sceptical asked for.

"Not everyone plays like that!" was the new excuse.

Then we see No0b3 getting 23x escapes in a row in high rank.

"He got carried by a friend!" the next excuse.

This made me realize that you can't make a point in a community full of pure ignorant. Every high skilled survivor will agree that Killers have no chance against coordinated high skilled survivors, the Killers skill is mostly irrelevant.

Hell, just yesterday someone made a video about how to deal with every single loop in the game as killer and had JenDenise (Pretty sure most people here know who Jendenise is and that she is insane) play as survivor and play VS him just to show how even a survivor with 7000 hours on the game can be beaten within 1-2 minutes of chasing, unless you suck and get mindgamed at every loop.

Do you have a link to said video?

  • Would be nice but most SWFs are against such a thing and some players fear that splitting the playerbase would be a bad idea regarding matchmaking / waiting times ect.

Unfortunately, it seems like BHVR has a similar point of view that those in that regard so I highly doubt they'll ever implement such a mode.

  • @weirdkid5 said:
Add a solo ranked mode and a team based ranked mode.

The solo rank mode would be standard play, but in ranked mode, you would take 5 people on 2 teams, 4 survivor 1 dedicated Killer. Make both sides face each other, and the team overall gets the best Emblems would be the winner. You could run both games concurrently in order to minimize wait times.

    That would be awesome.

It's the items and cosmetics @PiiFree I literally have to make myself look like a noob to get a game sometimes, it's not all the time as I've said before in the morning I have better luck finding a game but in the evening time it's lobby simulator and getting dodged left and right, that's when I've been playing killer now because there's no point in waiting 2 hours to get one match . It wasn't like this until the last update I mean times were always somewhat messed up but never had the problem of being dodged until the matchmaking system breaks itself and you just sit there getting nothing

Do you play in low rank? It's probably the side-effect of all the derankers that killers started to pay more attention.

As I said, I rarely get dodged but I play in Rank 1 and I always try to get back there asap after reset. I suppose Rank 1 has more competent and confident Killers than Rank 10, obviously those lesser experienced Killers are afraid to face tryhards.

  • I still only rarely get dodged, even when I play in SWF.

Maybe it's a personal problem you have? Like no one wants to play with you (anymore) because of previous matches / experiences?

Regional DbD community for high rank is not that big. I keep facing the same guys over and over again and apparently people know/remember me aswell. Toxic behaviour can easily lead to players trying to avoid you.

There's also a high chance that you get back in the same Killers lobby again after they dodged so it's very possible that you got dodged several times by the same Killer.

E: I only dodge for bad ping or because of players I mentioned above. I also try to avoid biased streamers that like to talk ######### about the opposite side.

You have 2 options in that case:

M1 and play him like a basic M1 killer.
Just keep chasing them until you're safe to use M2.

As I said, he still heavily relies on the incompetence of Survivors (which means that I think he is weak) but he is not as bad as Legion.

Indeed, against good survivors leatherface is basically a M1 killer.
Whether he is as bad as legion or even worse doesnt really matter, IMO all killers need a hefty buff to be put up to nurse lvl and survivors get ingame voice comms to balance the game

I'm not sure about ingame voice comms being a good idea. Two big problems coming with that:

    • annoying little kids spamming their ######### music and flamers insulting and ruining everyones fun, so you'd have to mute half the players and end up as "solo" yet again.

    • it would require a total rework of several perks, items, add-ons and even Killers.

It would be hard to balance for example Trapper around a team of full voice comms. Not saying it's not possible but it requires a lot of time / work and you'd have to completly rebalance the game.

For me pipping is winning . You can get 3 kills and still not pip . I think how good you performed in a match is what defines the win for killer .

So if you get 3 kills and don't pip, you lost? That makes no sense.

I killed all 4, 3 full sacrifices but one of them bleed out (was hiding somewhere). The result was a safety pip. I think I still won, even though I didn't pip because they gen rushed like crazy.

  • @Slayer said:
Legion can still pip even if he didnt kill anyone. Freddy has strong addons or good player can play him fine he actually can catch you offguard and  he s able to land a hit right after putting you into sleep its all mind gaming

Freddy still has to chase you for the 2nd hit, that's exactly the same as Leatherface requires to down you with his chainsaw: One chase.

Yes Legion can easily pip but that doesn't make them win matches. I like how you twist the words.

Being good in getting the first hit (aka Freddy, Legion, Wraith) doesn't mean you are good at winning the matches.

Being able to pip easily doesn't mean you're able to win easily, unless you value a pip as a win which is not the case for me and therefore not relevant to my statement. If I'm talking about winning as Killer, I'm talking about getting 3-4 kills.

  • @Slayer said:
Legion is better he can down any survivor without having any skill i mean he has a power to down any skilled survivor while leatherface even with good addons cant down skilled survivor you just can keep him on distance and he cant do anything skillful to get closer to you its just matter of time thats why leatherface is the weakest killer and needs real rework besides i really like texas chainsaw massacre probably the best slasher movie of em all

I'm not talking about winning a chase, I'm talking about winning the match. Legion might be good to land a hit but to win a match it requires stupid survivors that waste time healing up ect. Every Killer besides Nurse, Hag, Spirit and Huntress suffers from that "Leatherface syndrome" of having to mindlessly chase Survivors until close enough to hit them. That's not a Leatherface-exlusive. Leatherface is even in that comfortable position to be able to instantly down them instead of having to chase them twice.

killers that need to be toned down/nerfed:

    • nurse (her power is based around teleporting, which makes pallets obsolete in a certain way)
    • hillbilly (it's the definition of a outdated killer, 115% with a movement ability and just all around a killer for people who are too afraid to learn nurse)
    • legion (nurse but it takes no skill, and frank mixtape)

    killers that need tweaking/buffs:

    • leatherface (he is a bad killer, he relies too much on survivor mistakes and it doesn't help that most of his add ons are dogshit)
    • freddy (even though he might be a good killer, he mostly relies on rng to be good, which can either break him or make him)

im still going with the idea that nurse/billy/legion should be toned to the levels of other killers if the devs plan on making any other killer more fun to play as/against

I'm seriously offended. I was a Nurse main for hundreds of hours but got tired of all the survivors complaining, so I learned how to play Billy. Do I really have to go back to make people happy again?

  • Leatherface is good at punishing survivors for their mistakes but he has a real problem when Survivors make no mistakes.

He's the Killer that relies the most on the incompetence of Survivors besides Legion. Legion is even worse.

  • @SenzuDuck said:
That's not an excuse, it's LITERALLY, without a doubt ONE HUNDRED PERCENT FACT that GENERATORS are a survivors objective, and a killer that is playing well can STOP THEM.

and I didn't mention pressure at all, I mentioned playing well... ;)

Exactly like tunneling and camping are playstyles for Killers to help them getting their objective done.

While I surely agree that doing gens is the main objective for Survivors, I also understand that getting kills is the main objective for Killers. I've seen you complaining about campers and tunnelers during your streams, which is totally fine but is actually no different to Killers complaining about Gen Rush Squads. If you have the chance to dodge a facecamper (hi MLGA) you will dodge them because they are campers. If a Killer faces a gen rush squad, they'll dodge them aswell. It's an eye for an eye, both sides provide playstyles that suck to deal with for the other side and it's only logical that they try to avoid those.

The problem is that gen rush squads don't just repair gens at a ridiculous time-efficiency, they also use voice communication to "play optimally" in all other aspects. I can deal with gen rush because I can make up for that with map pressure but against 4 survivors that have constant, global map awareness it's hard to get map pressure, depending on the Killer.

    I wouldn't have done that.
    This wouldn't be fair.

And as survivor, I probably wouldnt have dced, but I would have killed myself.
These rounds are no fun, if in solo queue, in SWF with good items, thats different, but not in solo.

Survivors are op as hell if in the right hands, but a bunch of rank 10s is not a threat at all if youre good.
just shows how bad you are.

    PS:
You loose all your addons, offerings for 9k, is that really a win?
Survivors can abuse the ######### out of killers and keep their stuff, killers can't.

Survivors use OP stuff and Killers DC: TOXIC KILLERS!
Killers use OP stuff and Survivors DC: TOXIC KILLERS!

And then people wonder why Killers tend to be merciless monsters :^)

  • @micsan said:
You are missing the point here...For you it's totally unacceptable to play against a toxic SWF, and that's the problem. A Toxic SWF is in fact nothing other then a group of survivors who communicate and are in fact, GOOD AT THE [BAD WORD] GAME.

I think you confuse "being good at the game" with "being toxic in the game".

You can be a good player without being toxic and you can be toxic while sucking at the game.

...but that explains why so many players have trouble understanding why no one wants to face toxic SWFs.

That's an "on point" translation of our little conversation we had, well done :^)

  • Where's Wally: Survivor main edition

    Found him!

  • Why do you want to make the game more beginner-friendly? There are not many things in DbD that actually require skill or timing but effective saboing is one of them.

No offense but such suggestions are exactly the stuff that makes a game boring, if you can play it without any brain activity required. I don't know why people want this, if it was for me they could make everything skill dependent, even dropping pallets or hooking survivors.

Nothing is funnier than infuriating friends.

If you grew up with N64 you surely remember the good ol' Mario Kart times on N64? It sucks when everyone has fun, someone has to be the victim. In DbD it's a lot better when you make your friends the victim instead of a random Killer because you can actually see and hear their reactions :P

Mario Kart was rage inducing, but what made me and my brothers and sisters attack each other was Mario Party 2. It would always start off so nice. Someone would walk up and be all "Hey, you guys wanna play some Mario Pary?" and we're all like "Yeah, sure." But by the end of it, we're shouting and seething. Lot's of fun.

Yup, Mario Party is also one of those fantastic games. During the years we developed our own version of "Beerio Kart" and what can I say... nothing has changed besides us being 20 years older.

You can do the same with Dead By Daylight, it's just a matter of how you approach a match. If you play with friends to win, you WILL get upset because of campers, tunnelers, sluggers ect. but if you play it like a "last man standing" you actually start to "like" campers or tunnelers because they take out your competition. The gloaming is intense, the frustration is real. The Killers playstyle is put in the background, you just focus on your teams behaviour.

I wish more SWFs would play like that. If you pay attention as Killer, you realize what's going on and can play along with them for a fun experience for everyone and suddently winning / killing / escaping becomes irrelevant. However, IMO it's the 4 Survivors that have to initiate this type of match and unfortunately, I only very rarely see this happening. Most SWFs rather focus on "making fun of the Killer with friends" instead of just "having fun with friends". The Killer can only guess what they're up to and possibly ends up getting destroyed even more for trying to "go easy", which is why SWF is frowned-upon in the Killer community and is also the reason why Killers tend to dodge SWFs. It's because of their previous, unfun experience against such.

  • Currently:
    0-5 points = depip
    6-8 points = safety pip
    9-13 points = 1 pip
    14-16 points = double pip.

They should make it more like that:
    0-11 = depip
    12-15 points = pip
    16 points = double pip

And adjust the Emblems a bit, especially Chaser, Malicious, Evader and Benevolent.

Besides the fact that I think deranking is wrong, I’m a bit concerned as to how a lot of people are Steam profile dependent. The fact that you go into someone’s profile to check how many hours they played to assume they are good at the game or not is a bit preoccupying. You do it once, you do it twice, then you depend on checking their profiles forever, but what for? What do you need to be aware of before the game starts? Or will you dodge a lobby either as a killer or as a survivor because you assume the other party will outplay you due to how many hours they have been playing the game?
It’s pretty much the same as going into Google when you’re sick because you can’t wait to see the doctor.
Chill out, don’t spoil the fun, or is it that you never want to lose?
I go into games in PS4 where I get totally outplayed, badly, and I take it in without ranting. Gives you the chance to improve.
Now stop making this Steam Profile stalking a thing, you guys don’t realize it’s become a problem.

    My 2 cents :pirate:

And again I blame purposely deranking for it.

A player with <100 hours should NEVER have to play against players with 1000+ hours, that shouldn't even be possible. Since in DbD it IS possible, the players take it in their own hands by checking the players profile and dodge them when they're clearly more experienced. That's exactly what I mentioned earlier, Rank 1 players derank to play against lower experienced players. The lower experienced players get tired of it and start to check profiles. The derankers get dodged and complain in the forum about lobby dodging. It's a classic "you reap what you sow" situation. They dodge high skilled players by deranking and then they get dodged by low rank players that (understandably) dodge them.

  • I only play SWF to do stuff like that. Only one can escape and the goal is to get the others killed so you can take the hatch and win the match. That's how you have fun with friends.

  • Best counter to legion is intelligence.

As long as I see people healing up against a Sloppy Butcher / Thanatophobia Legion even in Rank 1 I am not surprised at all that people struggle against them. Time-efficiency is what makes you win against ALL Killers.

Wasting time healing up for 32+ seconds only to have them getting injured again 5 seconds later is NOT time-efficient. That's what makes you lose.

  • @OrionsFury4789 said:
Thanks bats , I wish more were like that. To me that's what makes this game fun is the challenge I don't see how some of these people have fun when they Dodge for forty minutes to find the weakest lobby possible and then just smear them instantly...rinse and repeat, I think I would've thrown the game out by now if that was how it went

I see it the same way. It's similar to Survivors MLGA blocking certain Killers or all the people that derank on purpose to avoid "tryhard".

In my opinion, tryhards are simply players that play the game optimally and therefore give me the biggest challenge and the best matches. It's exactly what I am looking for, I don't want easy games where I can mindlessly repair gens or kill survivors. I want matches where I have to use my brain to win.

  • @Ray_Penber said:
But if I continue to die against lower rank players then that won't make me good at all? I mean obviously they don't have any skill that will make good. I guess I will forever continue to suck as a survivor.

You won't learn how to deal with Rank 1 Killers, or at least not anytime soon. Lower Rank Killers don't know how and when to mindgame, don't know how to make use of the red strain, don't know when it's worth to drop a chase and go somewhere else, how to avoid flashlights or DS, 360s and Dead Hard. They still heavily rely on the mistakes of the (low rank) Survivors.

You'll certainly reduce the amount of mistakes you do by just playing the game, learn the basics like hitting great skill checks, moving your camera backwards, how to counter specific perks ect but how to deal with a skilled Nurse, Hag, Spirit or Billy? I don't think you'll learn that in Rank 10 because you only rarely face them in first place.

It's a bit similar to the players that simply disconnect when they face a Nurse. They CAN'T get good against Nurses because they never play against them. You need to face them, that means you have to step out of your comfort zone and play against them until you learn how to deal with them. Same with SWFs. Same with flashlights ect.

Of course you can say "I never want to deal with them so I just derank / disconnect to avoid them". It's pathetic and egoistic in my opinion for the reasons I stated previously; people refuse to git gud for the sake of their own fun, which messes up balance and ruins the other players fun.

  • @Ray_Penber said:
Funny how I just got done telling you a flaw in what you said and then you go and say the exact same thing. Listen close, I...SUCK AS A SURVIVOR. Equivalent to a green rank player. "Try to get good by avoiding good player." Like I said, you can say the same thing for lower ranks. You know smurfing, why would newbies cry over it. They just need to get gud according to you logic. Don't avoid the good players newbies because they are there to help you "get gud".

Your lack of reading comprehension is pissing me off. I don't think I can be any clearer. YOU are NOT the center of attention regarding smurfing and deranking on purpose. You are irrelevant. You suck as survivor and you will keep sucking as Survivor because you avoid playing against actually good players. That's why YOU are irrelevant.

We're talking about the players that OBVIOUSLY have the skill of rank 1 players that depip for the sole purpose to avoid players of their skill level.

  • @Ray_Penber said:
I wasn't trying to put myself at the center of attention. I was merely stateing that I suck as a survivor. Also, regarding you previous comment, I don't refuse to get gud. That is what I am trying to do. By your statement there, there should be nothing, but rank 1 and players who are new just need to get gud.

You try to get gud by avoiding actually good players? Smart.

My statement doesn't say "there should only be rank 1 players". If you play this game to such an extent that you reach Rank 1 then you should stay in Rank 1 because you're WAY ahead of the players that effectively fail to get there. It only makes it worse for those players when they have to deal with "Rank 1" players. I have a friend with around 200 hours on Killer and he just can't get to Rank 10 because he keeps facing elite squads that solely play the game to bully lower experienced Killers like him. It's demotivating and frustrating.

You say it yourself, it's damn easy to rank up but it's still somewhat hard for actually newer players because they have to learn everything. Now throw in some 1000+ h players and watch the newer players cry about imbalance, broken matchmaking, meaningless ranking system and SWFs.

TADAAAA - that's exactly where we are at this exact moment, mainly because of SWFs / smurfs / derankers that create a massive imbalance.

The ranking is not totally meaningless, it's at least an indicator for experience.

  • Depends on Killer & loadout.

Hmmm stomping the lower ranks. That must be why I just lost to a rank 11 just now and a rank 18 a couple of matches ago. I sure am refusing to get gud. Oh and I ranked up, imagine that.

Listen, stop putting yourself in the center of attention here. I clearly stated my opinion regarding you personally.

I actually happen to agree with Onionthing. I suck as a survivor, yet all you have to do to rank up is run from the killer for 30 seconds, do a couple of gens, and save a person. Not that hard to do. I can't loop killers very well or 360 them. So as for me, I very much like the green ranks. I am very comfortable there and I still lose a lot. I used to be in the purple ranks and barely escaped at all. However, I still ranked up. Their whole system is absurd. I do not belong in the purple or red ranks. I am not ready for them yet. I am waiting until I can properly loop and 360. Then possibley I will go into those ranks. For now I will continue to depip.

All you do is looking for excuses to not play in Rank 1. You don't "learn how to play in Rank 1" without actually playing there, all you do is boost your skill towards "ready for rank 1" while stomping rank 10.

Getting ready for rank 1 is a process that happens when actually playing there. You might find yourself in the absolute lowest skill bracket of a certain rank and then move your way to the top. In Dead by Daylight there are only 2 meaningful ranks: Rank 1 and Rank 20, the ranks in between just represent the time you've spent so far on your way to Rank 1. In Rank 1 you'll find players of low skill that barely managed to get there (maybe someone like you) and you'll find players that play nothing but Rank 1. Of course there is a HUGE skill gap in between and of course the matchmaking is absolute garbage, I totally agree but what you experience in Rank 1 (people stomping you) is exactly what Rank 1 players do to the players in the Rank 10s by depipping.

I wouldn't say YOU personally are a problem (or anyone else here) because technically what you do is refuse to "git gud". However, the numerous streamers and other players with literally thousands of hours - the already "got gud" ones - that purposely depip to play in low ranks. Those ruin the experience for actually lower experienced players that never even smelled rank 1.

Im egotistical? really? So let me get this straight, I'm a bad person because I want to play causally...

Because I don't want to be harassed, bullied and kicked around. I should just take it up the "you know what" because Legion is a pipping machine who doesn't have to win a damn match to rank up? Then I should just sit around and do nothing once lobbies slow down? I should sacrifice my fun because I fall under a blanket statement of "bad killers" and "bad gamers" just so a bunch of people can feel like they are vindicated from a boogeyman concept that may or may not exist.

I want to have fun .. otherwise Im going someplace else. Some of us are not trying to maliciously ruin everyone's experience, we are just trying to get the most out of our game, before it sucks so much that we want we drop it.

But hey, I could just go play Civ 5

You did great on ignoring the actual point!

...but yes, do that instead of "smurfing" your way back to low rank to "have fun" stomping inexperienced players :-)

Elite squads are in all ranks, but ironically in Rank 1 are far less bullies than in lower ranks because guess what? Bullies are looking for unskilled Killers, which is why they also derank on purpose. Rank 1 Killers can handle them, they get rekt on a regular basis so they derank to find weaker Killers to bully.

You should've realized by now that Legion was made for pipping, not killing. If you find it unfun to play legion without getting kills and as a result purposely derank to face players that you can easily 4k, you're technically ruining their fun.

It's my opinion; players that purposely derank to avoid players of their skill level and instead go for lower skilled players are egoists. Simple. My pride would never allow such a pathetic thing but I guess this is where the community seperates. If you don't want to pip, you can just let them escape / never hook them and you WILL NOT pip. If you still want to 4k even in lower ranks, you're no better than those elite squads that bully low rank killers.

Depiping is often done to avoid certain types of toxic gameplay, or gameplay killers deem as out of thier league. I used to play 5-1 for a while and then stopped because I didnt like playing with those people. I keep myself in the 11-7 because that offers me the best results for the gameplay I like. I dont like "stomping noobs" and I dont like playing with "GG-EZ" gen rushing sweaty elites either. While rank means nothing, most people still use it to gauge difficulty levels.

You're still indirectly ruining the fun for actual Rank 7-11 players. You might not realize it but as a former Rank 1 player you have significantly more experience than someone that has never reached this rank, leading to an uneven playground for those newer players.

It's egoistic. If you get upset because a gen rush elite squad beats you, that's fair but ultimately that's exactly where the Rank 1 balance currently lies. High skilled Killers should be able to compete with high skilled Survivors. If they can't, that's a possible result of imbalance and needs to be adressed but avoiding it by purposely deranking won't solve this issue. In fact, it will just shift the imbalance towards Rank 7-11 players and create an even bigger mess regarding matchmaking & balance.

  • That would scratch the to borders towards a pay 2 win concept.

Skins should never outclass the basic clothes regarding stealth.

  • Why would you smurf in DbD? You can just purposely depip for the same effect without having to buy another copy & DLCs.... That's why "depip on purpose" is (in my opinion) a real problem. It's exactly like smurfing.

  • In the end we all want DbD to become a better game and to achieve this, feedback is required from all sorts of players.

Some people just have trouble staying nice and calm. It's only human, emtiONS AND STUFF SO DON'T JUDGE ME OK?!?! >:(

    jk, xoxo :-*
