How do you do it?

I wouldnt even care if Legacy is given out to everyone or not. But they literally cant do it because they promised they wouldnt.

See.
So basically if you earned the Howling Moon event stuff. You might as well have not put in the time to do it.
If you used the cosmetics, then you had exclusivity for two years and showed it off a lot. If you didnt use the cosmetics, then they didnt matter much to you. Regardless of that, you got your just value from that event (aka, just an event. Not even a big grind like Legacy was).
-
Well, I am not implying I know more or even as much as them when it comes to Unreal Engine (I definitely dont). However, after Plague got introduced, they showed have the ability of applying textures on top of any cosmetic because of the maximum infection level effect on a Survivor (Its a bit different from that, but keeping it simple). And, honestly, it looks pretty good.
Granted they ALREADY have to do that for every new cosmetic just for Plague. Maybe when they say its too much work, it means its too much work on top of doing it for Plague. But I dont know.

I asked and discussed with many friends I play with which killer they hate and why. The response was 95% the same: spirit cuz guessing game aka coin flipping. And this is also what I see in the forums. People don't hate spirit because she's to string, many complain about her core design.
Or parroting.

I think you don't know why survivors hate versing sprit
Or maybe they dont know. Maybe they hate versing her because they faced her too much, because other Killers arent as good as her leading to little variety.
Or they missed their nap time and need a diaper change.
Or just parroting at its finest.

The only challenge where you have to take questionable decisions is the self care one, but it is bugged and you just need to heal yourself once, even with a medkit, so that’s fine.
all the other challenges are perfectly fine - in fact you’ll finish them with no sweat if you play well. If you want to rush them, the problem is you, not the challenges.
Its not bugged. You have to heal yourself to 2 health states with SC equipped. It doesnt say you need to do it through SC. Same reason why people doing the This Is Not Happening challenge on Level 1 with No Mither were wasting their time.
-
You have some good ideas. My main concern is Calm Spirit. A perk for being AFK? Thats absolutely horrible. If you get crows on you, you are either completely AFK (why would you ever bring in a perk for this) or you spent way too long in an area standing still.

Huntress is Russian, Plague is Babylonian, Wraith is African, Doctor is at least based loosely in Chinese lore. So even including some of the biggest licensed horror icons in the world, that only leaves you with 12 at most.

Got curious and checked the wiki, it's 10 to be exact.
Demo is an alien, Legion is Canadian (Counting as either 1 or four entries in this list, depending on how you look at it) Plague is Babylonian, Spirit is Japanese, Huntress is Russian, and both Hag and Wraith are native African. Wraith moved to America for a bit before he was taken, but apparently he still considered himself more culturally African at the time, since his designation is distinctly different from Doctor's African American.
Of particular note is that every licensed killer besides Demo is American; If narrowed down to characters DBD can decide the nationality of it's 7-10 non-American (The specific number here depends on how much you think Legion counts and whether category Original-Character-Bloastface counts as licensed) and 5-6 American (With Ghostface once more being a variable)
- Demo is an alien, but his backstory of a secret government lab is very much American.
- Legion is Canadian, but realistically it might as well be American (dont shoot me, Americans, pls, with your legalised weapons). Their background isnt particularly Canadian, or more like Canadian background doesnt make them different from American background.
- Wraith is African, but, again, its a mafia backstory. American as well. You might be able to change his nationality to anything else and it will still make sense.
- Doctor may be based on Chinese stuff (though this doesnt count, because its not represented AT ALL), and he may have African roots, but still American.
So, leaving those aside and licensed Killers as well (despite me including Demo on the list above - I just wanted to comment on it): Huntress (Russian), Hag (African-ish? Still have my doubts about her), Spirit (Japanese) and Plague (Babylonian) are the only Killers without an American backstory.
Considering Japanese is the second biggest horror theme after American, it makes sense we have more than one Japanese Killer. Hell, when Spirit got released, we were begging for it.

Not near a tunnel. Without an add-on they have to be standing on top of the damned things for you to see them. With add-ons they still have to be rather close.
OP, don't bother using tunnels to reveal Survivor locations. Focus on using them for travel and stealth. The odds of channeling Of the Abyss while someone is touching a tunnel that they can clearly see is very low. And the odds of being able to use or react to that information is even lower.
Its far enough honestly. I have used it for keeping track of gates during EGC plenty of times without add-ons.
-
You have to be channeling Of The Abyss, aka holding M2 (like when you ready the pounce/Shred). Only then you can see people with Killer Instinct near portals.

It's both a buff and a nerf.
No, its not.
How it currently works: 5 gens are powered.
How he is suggesting it should work like: When gates are powered, not opened.
Everything else is the same. This is a crystal clear buff. The only change is making it so that its a perk which can be used in different situations without touching the situations it works like now.

Rancor's value doesn't lie in being able to mori the obsession. Rancor's value lies in being able to see their auras. Too many killers use Rancor for the mori piece, and miss where it's value actually lies. So change the half or not, just don't touch the first half
The perk works for both things. Location and mori. If it doesnt touch YOUR main use of the perk, and its not overpowered or anything, whats wrong about buffing aspects of the perk so that it can be used more?

Oh get off your high horse. Self care is fine. Like every other perk, it depends on the player who uses it. Bond is great until someone uses it to out other survivors only to save their own skin. Aftercare is awesome until your good graces are used against you to save their hide or just because they’re a jerk. Same with self care - it’s a great perk, made not great when used at the wrong time or when a player outright refuses healing from others.
I think vilifying perks and the people who use them is a very bad and unhealthy habit you should break because all it will do is generate more toxicity. That was a major problem in Overwatch, and one of several reasons I uninstalled that trash heap - people were so into meta that their heads were up their own butts and anyone who deviated from the meta at all were treated very poorly and verbally abused as well as being the victims of false reports etc. that Blizzard wrongfully upheld because Blizzard is full of crap.
Anyways, self care is a good and reliable perk. You don’t get screwed over by Franklin’s, and while Sloppy hurts its potential, Sloppy also hurts medkits and their potential to hold more than 1 heal. Moreover, you can rely on yourself to heal when no one is around or unable to do so, and say what you will about being injured, if you’re one of the last survivors, you do not want the killer to hear you. I main Jane too so staying injured without a proper load out for it is pretty risky. Same with characters like Ash and David, who you can hear from a mile away. Inner Strength is no real replacement for self care since it has specific requirements like being able to only do one totem at a time, and you best hope nobody finds them first - which in itself can take some time now. If anything, I think Second Wind is a more valuable replacement since you have to help your team and then you can go about your business.
tldr: self care is a fine perk and trying to vilify people for using it is wrong. It could be said that people who use Adrenaline, Exhaustion, and DS are sweaty animals who don’t really care about everyone having a fun time and want to play gen rush simulator but that too would be wrong. It all depends on how people use their perks.
You dont even know how Mangled effect works. It doesnt reduce charges on an item, or its consumption. It just takes longer to fully heal.

first. yes, those stats are old and Spirit has had no changes since then (that I'm aware of), but there have been a number of survivor changes which likely increased her kill ratio.
second, I whole-heartedly agree that the devs should make more of an effort to provide the community with more reliable updates and statistics to help us see where's they're coming from.
and third, this isn't a killer vs survivor competition thread, please quit whining about the imaginary challenges killers face... survivor and killer both have their pros and cons, killer isn't some poor abused little creature... go play f13 jason if you want to play the victim game.
What were those changes?
MoM got nerfed? It didnt affect her in the first place, pretty sure. And this change would have affected everyone.
Tougher fast vault requirements? You dont loop a Spirit. An irrelevant change.
Dedicated Servers? Grabs are buggier than ever, first off. Secondly, she suffers a small delay sometimes while starting to phase. All this works against her.
Maps? The only new maps were Badham and Hawkins. Badham isnt a particularly favourable map for Spirit (not awful either). Indoor maps are a coin toss. She is easier to detect and juke, but she also is more likely to pull of nice plays.
There were no Survivor changes that affected her.

I don't disagree with you but at the moment a lot of the Spirit Threads are just the same thing, bonus points if ScottJund joins the conversation.
That isn't really constructive, that's just mindless bickering.
Logically. ANY popular topic will always turn out the same; the same arguments over and over. This isnt just DbD, or this forum board. Its life. When a big divisive topic appears (a certain electoral candidate, social movement, cats vs dogs, etc), humans will want to discuss the same thing over and over again, with the same points in favour and against.
-
I know that whatever we say doesnt matter. However, just accepting changes blindly isnt something you should do. This change is coming from the very Devs that butchered Legion without proper buffs (still waiting...), created old MoM, nerfed old Freddy, made it so that getting blinded or stunned at any point during pick-up would force Survivors to be dropped, and several other examples.
They have said they have learned, and they definitely have. But what is stopping them from making more mistakes? We are all humans after all. Some people consider this another mistake, others not. I see nothing wrong with such discussions. Sure, namecalling and heated arguments are bad, but as long as it doesnt reach that point, why is it so bad?

A green medkit is actually better for healing yourself than a purple one is.
Its quantity vs quality. Would you rather have two decently fast heals at your disposal, or one fast heal. I, personally, would rather have the former. Two heals are more beneficial than a single speedy heal that, at most, will only shave off 4 seconds.
-
I think you should cover a larger part of your post with the <joke> tag.

I agree with most of the points here. Hallowed Blight was far better as an event. That said, in terms of cosmetics, this year's are miles better.
-
Wraith is extremely OP, unfun to play against. No interaction with the Survivor at all. He should be completely visible at all times, and be unable to see scratchmarks or blood pools while cloaked and 10s after uncloaking.
-
He is considered the worst Killer of all by certain people. However, he is extremely underrated. That said, he isnt that good anymore for a couple of reasons which surged overtime:
- More maps with more pallets. See Temple of Purgation, new Badham, Hawkins. Which means his power to cut down loops is less effective.
- He hasnt been touched in a while. Not even for bug fixes which appeared over the updates. Just cosmetic-tier fixes for the most part.
- Medium vault speed changes.
- Balance problems which have been unaddressed for a while. Mainly the deal with reloading bottles.
-
Im at tier 23. I completed Level 1 the at around Tier 17 or something. I havent been able to play much these past two days, otherwise, I would be a bit higher.

The same can be said for either side.
If you are saying killers only did well due to survivors not knowing how to play the game then they themselves had to get better after survivors learnt or it would have been 0% even then.
In that respect the argument also rings true for the good killer players if they could still 3 or 4k in most of their matches throughout the games life one could say they simply got better while some others didn't.
Its much like some survivors players who complain and it comes down to realising not everyone can or will be good at any game.
Small correction here. Why do you think Killers have a higher kill rate in low ranks? Because if both sides suck, the Killer role, the one that can actually remove people from the match, has better odds of winning. Their role is literally just Find Survivor -> M1 them once -> Follow -> M1 them again -> Hook. And repeat. Survivors have to extend chases, and that requires game knowledge, and complete generators which require muscle memory (skillchecks) and being bold towards killer presence.

-
I legitimately dont agree with this logic though. LF, Doctor, Clown, Wraith to some degree, and a couple of others. They are not weak because of solo Survivors. They are weak because they have been neglected in the ever-changing game we have through the years (literally the only exception is Legion, and Plague depending on where you place her). If they had more time to focus on reworking characters, all low tier Killers would be high tier ones (or decent at the very least), and solos would still be very much the same.
-
Looks like he needed an extra few bucks and resorted to clickbait. Nice.

They removed a big chunk of Lery's RNG a few updates ago, and I rarely have much trouble in it, as both Survivor and Killer.

Imagine if you were playing survivor, you're the last one alive and then the killer closes the hatch, which gives the killer an notification of your exact location which cannot be countered?
This is why it's worded and works the way it is. As I've said, Pig's RBTs are the same way. If they worked the way you want them to, then escaping as the last survivor alive would be a complete impossibility.
It wouldnt make a difference. Keep the notification tied to generator completion and apply the Exposed effect and mori-able when Exit Gates are powered. Its that simple.
They made so many uneeded changes for the sake of "consistency", and turn a blind eye towards other features.

I would say Borrowed time should be merged with WGLF (Each time you preform a save, 25% more BP's stacks to a maximum of 100%). Just like BBQ n Chili, it gives a powerful effect + extra BP's and we all know that survivors struggle with BP's compared to killers... I think that would really be a great idea.
How about we remove BT and just merge WGLF with Well Make It.

- Complains about Spirit. ✔

- Complains about Freddy or Hillbilly.
Almost there. Just a bit more.
-
Correct. But dont forget to take into consideration the daily bonus (300 XP for both sides). Thats an extra 42k XP total.
-
Tome/Level (though level is the actual term): They hold challenges, which upon completion will reward Rift Fragments, BP and lore entries. There are 4 per Rift, each one being released every 3 weeks or so. Tomes remain available after Rift closes, but they will no longer reward Rift Fragments.
Rift: Battle Pass thingy. Contains several tiers. Progression is based on how many Rift Fragments you acquire. A Rift lasts for 70 days, after which is replaced with a new one.
Tiers: Sections part of a Rift. In the Free path, some have rewards. In premium path, all do.
Rift Fragments: Progression token. Acquired from completing challenges from currently active Rifts and for each 800 XP gained. Resets when Rift closes.
-
Basically:
- Update was delayed. They were originally planning to release it last week.
- Since you get Rift Fragments from simply playing, the game now keeps track of how much XP you gain since the start of the Rift.
- The update got delayed, but this last feature was enabled.
- The update releases one week later, so players got some extra progression based on how much they played through the week previous to the update.
It was unexpected, but they decided to leave it anyway.
-
Either Ace or Adam. I would also say Nea though, or Claudette. They are all hideous. Out if all these characters, the only cosmetic I like is Adam's tourist top.

As I said before, that's an excuse to work around it's existence, not a justification for it existing in the first place.
Doesnt sound like an excuse. Following your line of thought, if you have a load of fruit and you dont like apples, then apples shouldnt exist in the world. Instead, you should have purchased the bundle that didnt include apples.
Its not a game design problem. Its a problem that its entirely up to the player to figure out and how to solve it. Such problems arent problems to Devs, because its based on your experience as a user, which you (as user) define.
-
The deal here is the following. You are playing on Rank 9, as you said, thus you played a fair bit already. Therefore you already have at the very least a character with perks. If you really dont like playing a character with no perk slots or add-ons (the latter has little to do with this topic since at some point you will need to have 0 add-ons), then dont play that character. Use the characters that already have perks, and any BP you get from them, funnel them into the character you wish to play. I really do not see the problem here.

Survivor shortage.
The game has been increasingly killer biased lately even more than it should be so people simply hopped over to killers meaning less survivors to find and bigger ques.
The player count didn't drop so people simply swapped sides.
If your agenda was true (which isnt), then do explain why in my case Survivor queues are way slower than Killer, which are nearly instant?
My guess is that matchmaking is ######### (no surprise here), especially considering how much tinkering they have done with it lately. It could also be that... *gasp* queues change too much to gauge.
-
I dont know. I like how they are right now. If anything, I would rather they just changed the level 40 teachables to be pink again, and coded it so that all perks cost the same in the bloodweb regardless of rarity (the very reason they got changed).
-
This is probably one of the worst ideas of a rework I have seen. At the very least, if you are making Spirit visible while phasing, she should be able to see Survivors, ESPECIALLY considering you cant hear them breathe anymore. You are just making it a complete guess on the killer making the power literally only useful for catching up. How... and please be serious... How is this more "skilful" than a Killer who has to trap Survivors into doubting whether to go one way or another or walk in a direction as opposed to the opposite?
And even if we did that (letting her see Survivors), you are making her power literally a Legion 2.0; an uninteresting power compared to its former self. At least you can down Survivors, so thats the only reason that prevents her power from being worse than Legion.
I find the whole "SpIrt Is EZ tO pLAy wItH hEaDPhoNez" meme extremely dumb. And yes, its not an opinion, its a meme and nothing more.

Thaks to all of you for the answers.
I understand and you guys have a point but still: we have the choice to not to join the voice chat in order to don't be bother by screamers, teachers, troll... And you are right sometimes they can be annoying!
From and atmosphere point of view yes, indeed alone with no way to communicate is more immersive and challenging... So I do agree that a chat will ruin something in the game.
But as someone says here: why not a lobby chat during the 60 seconds before the match. Like being all together around the fire camp trying to figure out a strategy before the massacre begin. I wouldn't mind that
Why voice chat in the lobby when you have text chat? What does this accomplish that text chat on a semi-static screen with little interactive requirement cant?

Honestly, if they just prevented that window from ever being open and made the railings not spawn like that and stayed with the alternative way, it would certainly be good enough.

Fact that anyone justifies DCing, in any shape or form, is a huge sign of idiocy, bias and disrespect towards others. What I find annoying is that I like immersive but helpful gameplay and I hate when and here is an example, a nurse goes around attacking one after another until everyone is on the ground. This nurse is relying on BBQ&C to find me. But little does she know I was also running tenacity. So I made sure to stay close so it would keep me safe from the aura reading. But no problem she just has to listen to find me. This is what I find annoying. This player is being rewarded for finding me and I can't do anything about it. Not every person slugs. But most people will leave you on the ground to find the last survivor to deny them the hatch. IW should take away all noise what do you and the development team think @Peanits? I mean calm spirit has two functions you don't scream, and you don't alert crows. Why can't IW also do the same in the sense of you don't make grunts of pain at any time? Downed or running around.
You said it yourself. "This player is being rewarded for finding me and I can't do anything about it". They found you, they did better than you, they should get rewarded. Thats the biggest flaw in your reasoning. You are getting rewarded when you shouldnt, taking away said reward from someone who deserves it.

I like current Autodidact more than your suggestion. It just needs higher skillcheck chances.
