  • Depending on how far through the season is, they could have been trying to de-rank. I've had that happen quite a few times to me, since they'll just wait until the cancel timer has passed, then just DC.

Just report anyone who does as manipulating the matchmaking system.

  • While this would be nice, it seems like the community is largely filled with absolute children. This would certainly be a good start, but on something like Xbox, where you don't message them directly through the game, it seems exploitable.

And no I don't mean children as in those under the age of 18, although they exist. I mean those who have a mental age under 18. What needs to happen more is that survivors need to stop teabagging if I'm having a bad game and not get salty with me because I did something you didn't like.

Rating players isn't a thing on console, what are you on?

It was back on Xbox 360.

    @AlexisFox said:

I'm sorry but that whole team of survivors was just bad.

And I've had games where I've had similar survivors, and said to the killer though, "Jeez that game sucked. You were fine, but those other survivors were hot garbage." If they get mad because they're just bad at the game, just ignore them. Or just hit them with the blank "ok."

  • This is why I don't even bother playing much after Rank Reset. I had some eThot start abusing me because I didn't put myself in the firing line of a Plague with Corrupt Purge to save her hooked friend in struggle.

All I can say is simply wait a little while and let the tryhards rank up. If you're on Xbox, I'll even help you farm through these challenges, if you can help me do the same.

  • Hmmmmmmmmm.

That's gonna be a no from me. The main problem I see with Slenderman, which is the same as suggesting someone like Pennywise: What's their power gonna be?

Also, Slenderman doesn't even move in the game Slenderman: the Eight Pages, so walking animations, weapon, attack animations and mori would all have to be custom made, and even then it's probably not correct to the lore of the creepypasta.

  • Just gonna say a controversial one for all those who can drink here:

Corona is an extremely overrated beer.

  • Look, Ruin is basically mandatory on any killer without any sort of mobility, as in Pig, Wraith, Hag, Trapper, Myers, Ghostface, because it's the only way for them to apply any real sort of map pressure.

That being said, it sucks on a Survivor's side. Especially against Hillbilly or Spirit. If it does as [Well know DbD Youtuber] puts it: "Game the slow down a little bit just", why don't we make it LITERALLY slow the game down. Make it so that Survivors have a permanent slowed effect with Hex: Ruin, similar to how Sloppy Butcher slows healing.

This means that it can just be powered through, without having to rely on great skill checks that lower ranks can't quite hit yet and not have people dedicate to hunting down the totem.

Ever since the release of the 3.3.0 update , the frames on console have just been the worse. In game , with the low sensitivity setting it’s been extremely difficult playing as killer recently. A date for the upcoming updates to console settings and 60 FPS would be appreciated. (I play on Xbox , and yes I’ve tried hard resetting to resolve the frame drop, because in the past , that would mostly work. But as of recent it’s all just been awful)

I'm playing on an Xbox One S and I've had zero problems in gameplay. Menus, yes, but that's something I can deal with. And it's been getting better every day for me.

I'm not saying I'm in love with the nerfs they've made. But for the most part the changes have been reasonable. Most the killers are still playable. I don't know why you even bring up Freddy. He's a success story imho. They took the time and got him right.

    I did say Pre-Rework..........

And while reasonable, it's seemingly all we see. Or at least of these forums, anyway. It seemed like for a good while on these forums, more than 50% of threads were "Spirit Nerf Plz" or something to that effect.

This thread is not to say to the Devs to specifically stop nerfing entirely, but to get the community to stop crying for nerfs against the top ranked killers. They're all becoming weak, and a joke because high ranking survivors don't want to admittedly verse the same killers all the time, but learn to counter them better.

  • @Dreamnomad said:

If something is over performing then it will get nerfed. If something is under-performing then it will get buffed. The idea being an end result that most players will view as being reasonably balanced and fun to play. Asking for an end to nerfs is just silly. If they ever do stop nerfing and buffing things then that will be a sad day because it will mean they are no longer putting resources into the game.

I'm not saying that ALL nerfs need to end, but the mentality that we should just nerf stronger killers in general. I'm kinda glad that Spirit's collision got removed, and I play her. Nurse's add-ons needed a rework. They were not in a good place.

Pig? Too weak to remove RBT at endgame. Pre-rework Freddy? Literal laughing stock of the community. Legion? Annoying, nerfed, reworked. Still annoying.

"I don't see how other survivors making solo survivor games annoying " rly? its so obvious i can only ask if youre blind, DC is 1st case (thats true) other case are teammates that are literally AFK whole game (escaping with 8k or dying as last with 4k bp) i cant count how many times i wasnt unhooked (when i wasnt camped) just because randoms are doing gens or licking walls (trolls, survs dying in 10 sec after their 1st meet with wraith, pallet campers at 5 gens) and many many "great" teammates even on purple/red ranks

The main point is that killers are being punished for us solo players being paired with potatoes constantly. Potatoes also suck to go against because it's so unrewarding.

If they wait that long to chainsaw you that's giving you more time to find a window or pallet so it should be a good thing really.

I might have been a bit inaccurate with my initial statement, since it's actually heaps more common for Billy and Leatherface to simply charge within Lunge range then launch chainsaw at bodyblock.

I've tried the whole "Just put a wall between them" thing and it just doesn't work enough.

A good bubba (aka not me) will angle their camera such that they won't hit the obstacle. Him ignoring it is no accident.

If I was on PC, and they were purple ranks, I'd be inclined to believe you.

However, this is generally Xbox at green and trust me. That chainsaw animation is clearly over that concrete barricade or in that tree. And that is for me, the absolute biggest problem.

  • As a Pig main, all I can say is "No."

And then argue that Legion or Wraith are worse killers.

"Chases are open to abuse by survivors with infinites". Literatelly stop tunneling and go for other ones instead of eating all the pallets in the game, I never get a chase of more than 2 minutes without downing one as a killer. As a decent survivor player, I mostly go down at least once per match.

Who says I tunnel? I slug to avoid tunnelling half the time. And you know what? PIG STILL EATS PALLETS ANYWAY!

The speed boost is a bit after he releases the chainsaw.

And even if it wasn't he'd get the same amount of speed if he instead use the saw from a bit further back, he'd just ramp up in speed sooner.

In other words it just meant you were too far from a pallet/window even with the extra time taken into account

Well, yeah. But I'm always near a rock or tree that he CONVENIENTLY ignores.

Isn't that a good thing? It means you can get further before the instant down can get you increasing your Survival odds.

You would think, but no. I have tried it, and it doesn't work. He gets that speed boost when he launches his attack. Negating any momentum I've built up.

Hold your horses love, on the road-map they're looking into Doctor (which is most likely a buff) + they're reworking some maps too. I rather them rework the maps first then buff Killers, Totems/ Ruin may last longer and some Killers may perform better with the new maps.

Well, I don't exactly follow roadmaps, but it us good to hear Doctor is getting some love. Same with maps. There are some that are just dumb.

Your supposed to get close before a chainsaw, that thing has no range. Also he has the weakest insta down in the game so idk why that's annoying. But yes camping leatherfaces are very frustrating to go against.

They rub against me before charging chainsaw. That's too close. And annoying.

Chase and get chased mechanic makes DBD the most succeeded SURVIVAL HORROR game out there. SURVIVAL HORROR here means the graphics, the atmosphere in the game, not the OP killers that can 1 hit and you die. If you want SURVIVAL HORROR gameplay, go and check on F13 the game (somewhat popular SURVIVAL HORROR multiplayer game) and tell me how it goes compared to DBD.

Chases are open to abuse by survivors with infinites and some perks in the game. And while DbD does indeed nail the atmosphere and graphics of Survival Horror, it doesn't have the same sense of dread or urgency and THAT is what I have an issue with.

    @PeenutsButt3r said:

Nerf the OP killers means everyone will play balanced killers, buff the weaker killers doesn't mean people will stop playing the strongest killer.

And I agree that nerfing OP killers, and I mean blatantly OP killers. Not just nerf the strongest because they are the strongest, which is the mentality of the community right now and again, that is what I take issue with. That is what I'm fighting against. If it (theoretically) came down to playing Myers vs. Wraith and Wraith was all of 5% more efficient, then I'd probably play Myers more often than not, because Myers is a classic horror bad guy. The main reason I used to main Pig is that I am an absolute SAW fanatic, and I didn't care for tier listings or power. I like SAW and I like the Pig's playstyle, with Dash add-ons.

It would help with the overall health of the game in spades...

They might even be doing this after Spirits nerf and we don't even know... they have said they're looking into aiding in Pigs add-ons and other Killers add-ons, which is a step in the right direction.

Maybe in the future we can see more reworks or buffs to the low tier Killers base-kits as well.

The main problems that I see most of the killers having in the low tiers is that their base powers are simply too weak.

  • Long Island Ice Tea. The one true drink.

Don't mind an icy cold lager, though. Gets hot down in 'Stralya.

  • I literally just called for this too. I see more diversity within Green ranks, but even then it's still not THAT much difference.

We should just buff the weaker killers. Freddy got his total rework, and now he's powerful and oppressive, which a killer should be. We need to make this a more common thing.

Funny thing is though, that Super Smash Brothers Ultimate have been doing this exact same thing with their diverse roster of 74+ characters, and the community is saying that the game's never been better! Overwatch, however is nerfing anyone who helps define the current meta and the game's in shambles. DbD is starting to head more down this path and that's scary. We need to stop the trend now.

This is barely a nerf, it feels more like a QoL change than anything, spirit can still ignore loops safely and can easily track injured survivors with the added difficulty that now she wont be able to just bump into them and get easy downs.

Yes, some killers need some buffs to tweak their gameplay, devs have already confirmed changes are coming, they already listened to us with freddy, wraith and hag, as well as some annoying things in the past like the pallet vacuum and the infinite loops.

Stop acting like you are being prosecuted, both sides have been getting their needed nerfs. Not every game will be a walk in the park with easy 4ks.

I play both sides and I'm saying that a good 60% of the roster of killers need some sort of buff. And rather than simply JUST nerfing stronger things, we should buff the weaker parts.

It is BECAUSE I play both sides that I can come out and say what I do. I'm not saying that I personally get prosecuted, but everyone on these forums persecute each other.

Please for the love of god people need to stop suggesting RSN2 as base. It is literally going against and doing the complete opposite of what her RBT was designed for.

I play a Gen-Protector build, so forcing people to work on generators works really well for me. You also have the option of hunting for the boxes yourself. Main point is though, they're just too easy to remove as is.

Yet they could easily enable it and make it fair to everyone.

Plus even if the devs say this I'm pretty positive it's against Xbox TOS. This besides the fact I don't even think they can detect XIM in the first place.

Fair for everyone? No. It's not "fair for everyone". Part of the reason I play on console is that I don't like M/KB. It's too much of an advantage for those who use it too, more so in twitchy FPS games, like Siege. My philosophy for this is simple: if you want to use M/KB then just go and play ON A PC, unless you are physically incapable of holding/using a controller.

Console and PC are different for a reason and they should stay that way.

  • Too many Bubbas getting way to close before using their Chainsaw. Also too many times where he clearly should have bumped into something on the side, considering the animation, that gets ignored.

Instant-down in a base kit with next to no work or setup required. Just find and swing!

Leatherface players are also more prone to camping or patrolling than any other killer, Hag being the exception with being able to place 5 traps at my feet. This makes is hard to have fun when all you get to do is sit on a hook until a survivor sprints in as you're about to enter Struggle only for Leatherface to come back and chainsaw them instantly.

And that pig-like squealing that only a stereotypical child of Southerners could do. Bad stereotype aside, it is just a grating noise on the ears.

When you play like this ^ it is not "mistake reliant" it's more exploitative. Especially when 99.99% of times, or more, the chainsaw will only ever hit one survivor.

  • @thesuicidefox said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/836926#Comment_836926

LOL What? M/kb is not "banned" on console. Xbox has native m/kb support, it just requires the developers of the game to enable it (which most don't for some reason). And XIM exists which you can't get banned for either. There's also cross-platform play on some games, particularly Gears 4/Gears 5.

Really not sure where you come to the conclusion m/kb is "banned" on console.

R6 Siege and Overwatch. Devs on those games have explicitly stated before that they are not allowed on console and that it is cheating.

    Especially Siege.

  • @thesuicidefox said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/836853#Comment_836853

That's not the point I'm making.

I'm saying it's a bit extreme to call it an "excuse" when the person literally has to pay to prove a point to you.

BTW there are m/kb adapters for console. You could easily buy a PS4/Xbox, a Xim adapter, and DBD. So if your "excuse" is controls it's not a valid one ?

M/KB is actually banned on console for most things, so recommending it is just as bad as saying "use a hacked/modded version on PC" since it's an unauthorised modification and it gives an unfair advantage to the one using it.

  • @Deadeye said:

@Mediva Spirit is not an M1 killer. You would call Nurse an M1 killer too? Without using M2 is like Huntress without Hatchets. And of course is adapting possible. It just needs to stay a viable killer. If you nerf everything on killer side step by step, there will be no red rank killers soon because you simply can't reach the ranks anymore. Except they start to buff weaker killers. Which I would agree on, nerf spirit, buff others. Would be fine for me.

@Sairek I actually like the game as spirit. No visual clues but the sound is way louder than on other maps due to the echo. On this map even Iron Will doesn't help too much because you can hear the footsteps pretty good. And this is actually a true issue with Spirit.

You can bait Spirit. Of course it is guessing, but what are mindgames on pallets? Moonwalking around corners? Pretty much the same, isn't it? The problem most people have with Spirit isn't really that she has no counterplay, but that it completely depends on the Spirit skill, if you can bait her. You have a lot of stuff you can do to be unpredictable, and on windows and pallets it is simply possible to fake vaults, vault back and stuff and escape this way. It just depends on the killer if it works or not which most people dislike.

@PigMainClaudette make survivor sounds nondirectional? Are you serious? Nerf ALL killers in the game just because of the spirit? I agree on body block but seriously not on that point. Actually that makes her power useless, that would be a Legion style nerf. I'd rather say make the wooshing phasing sound directional

In her phasing. You know, that thing that Survivors can't tell the direction of any more.

  • Look. There are just 2 SIMPLE thifs and everyone's happy:

Remove collision and make survivor noises, like her phasing, no longer directional.

Then the counterplay is this: learn them before they learn you.

She doesn't need anything massive. No total rework. No changes to Prayer Beads then. Just 2 simple changes.

We do need some strong killers, since it seems like Survivors have become an extremely vocal group. I'm not saying that either side is right, but Killers as a whole are probably weaker than they should be. We should look at elevating killers like Pig, Legion and Trapper, rather than constantly complaining for nerfs to killers like Nurse and Spirit.

Sorry, did I forget to add the mocking Spongebob picture in that post?

I was just trying to mock all of the whiners that have popped out of the woodwork lately, so about 75% of people on the forums.

  • Well, who are you playing? If it's Hillbilly, Nurse or Spirit then there's your problem.

That or they're trying to get to the lowest rank possible.

  • I still rarely face a Freddy, and that's even on console where he's meant to be more popular. And, yes he is annoying to go against, but I just think that Survivors need to have a bit more time to learn and adapt to this new playstyle.

  • @Rydog said:

If I'm playing Freddy, and I hook you in the basement, then I go across the map to patrol gens and then teleport back to the gen right outside shack in time to punish the unhook (going after the unhooker both times this happened btw), how is this camping? I got raged at in post-game chat for being a camper, when I did literally what I have just described, two times, from across the map. Is using the killer's power camping now?

Ok. If you were a Hag, who placed 3 traps at my feet, or om the basement stairs, then I'd call it camping by proxy. Freddy though relies on generator placement, and it's the survivors fault for not waking up.

They also probably called you a camper because they couldn't call you a tunneller since you went after the unhooker, which is actually better for both sides.

Funny thing is though I don't get called a camper when I phase back as Spirit. Or a tunneller when the unhooked idiot runs directly into me a minute later.

NoED isn't permanent and Survivors can completely get rid of it, causing the Killer to have one less perk. Like, are you serious? Survivors just play the game to get Adreneline. How do they have to work for it?

@8obot1c Or, I dunno, cleanse totems?

I know, I know, cleansing totems is really tough and you need to be really skilled to do it. But trust me, it works.

Survivors generally have to do generators. Survivors have to stay alive. Survivors have to avoid getting camped and tunnelled.

What does a killer have to do? Close the hatch or have THE SURVIVORS complete the generators. They have to exist and they get NoED.

My biggest complaint about NoED though, is that there is zero warning about the effect until you're hit.

  • I reckon that it's actually the newest part of the Archives. The next lore book to be released will be for Yamako Rin. It'll also be in a very similar style to Evan MacMillain's lore entries. I also don't think that it'll be the father since the Entity chose Rin over her father due to her rage that overshadowed everything her father had done.

Become a Blendette. I use the brown jacket and pants, stealth playstyle and patience, and so far I've been able to just reach Rank 5. Here's my perk build for you to try if possible:

Self Care, Bond, Spine Chill, Sprint Burst.

Use a headset since that can really get a sense of where the killer is some times. Pray you're not on The Game, Hawkins or Lery's.

Tall grass and shadowed areas are your friend.

  • Don't have stances and have the shock similar to an alternate fire, kinda like how the Huntress rears up with her hatchets. Make the base spread just a bit longer too, as it generally feels just a bit too short to actually hit a lot of survivors.

  • I try to, but sometimes personal biases get in the way just a little too much.

That and you have the problem of Killers Only vs. Survivors Only with those of us who play both genuinely pick the side that we feel is right.

Ebony Mori? I feel like I've been cheated out of the game. Make it after I'm unhooked in Struggle then it seems a bit more ok.

Keys? Don't use them or verse them to know. Can't say. Same with insta-heals.

One thing that I also hate on these forums is the amount of people who just go and complain about something before they know how to properly play around it or use it. This happens every time a new killer comes out or is reworked. It just seems like at the moment, in red ranks DS and Keys are the meta, same with Killers having BBq, Ruin and moris. Survivors have learnt how to deal with killer powers and perks for the most part, and now I believe that it's killers who have to adapt this time around.

And that is not an invitation to camp or tunnel, before anyone gets the bright idea to as a "legitimate tactic". It's not fun for anyone.

  • No Mither on survivor

    Monstrous Shrine on Killer

  • Anyway, trying to get back on topic, instant-downs are fine if you have to work for them: Myers, Ghostface, Haunted ground, Make Your Choice. Same with Instant Heals.

Instant downs you DON'T have to work for can feel really bad for the game: Hillbilly, Leatherface, NoED, arguably Devour Hope. And this is what the old Instant Heals were probably trying to contend with.

  • @TragicSolitude said:

I didn't say the killer has to work for it. I just said Adrenaline needs a counter, and that's what NOED is. Survivors can stop NOED from ever coming into play by cleansing the dull totems. And if it does come into play, it can be ended by survivors by cleansing the hex totem, so it's not permanent.

Survivors have to work for Adrenaline and have to go out of their way to stop NoED.

    That's not countering.

Adrenaline can also be countered by your logic here: just kill off the survivor before the endgame!

  • @TragicSolitude said:

NOED counters Adrenaline, which is an end-game instaheal.

And I rarely saw instaheals used against one-hit-down killers, because then the rescuer would get downed. Instead, I saw them used against weak M1 killers who just had all the time they spent in a chase negated, losing all the pressure they might've put on the survivors to slow the game down.

The killer does no work for NoED. It's a crutch baby perk that's the equivelant of calling an older sibling to do a Mario level for you.

Adrenaline also only heals one state and gives Exhaustion. It doesn't heal dying to healthy.

The speed boost from Adrenaline is also only temporary, compared to the permanent of NoED.

  • I'd say either Survival or Boldness for BP. The bonus of getting yourself up whenever is nice, BUT of you see it as killer, you may as well just not leave them.

You'll have less survival time overall due to it, so Survival is a good idea to me. Boldness is also pretty good considering the solid brass you'd have there for using the perk.
