Why would I? Your initial post said that you wanted the killers to basically stop slugging for a 4K. That is the conversation. I said I will slug for a 4K because my objective is to get a 4K to the best of my ability by any means necessary. I don't complain when I get gen rushed. The end game collapse is terrible system in general and rewards bad survivors.

I'm saying that if you just hook the other person and they die, it's more rewarding for both sides and quicker overall. And like I also said earlier, a 4k isn't everything. Endgame Collapse isn't just for bad survivors either. It also stops certain survivor groups from trolling the killer further and tells them to gtfo. I'm a pretty decent survivor who gets bad teammates. Killers are punishing me for the mistakes of others.

And no. I want you to put some effort into killing me. Like I did when I dodged you all game, made saves and did generators.

If it is so rampant then why isn't unbreakable meta? 🤔

Nobody I play with uses it. We're not all red-rank PC players.

The principle still stands though. When I play well as a killer and get to the endgame then I’m gonna slug for my 4k, no matter the rank. Why? Because I earned those points and shouldn’t be punished because of a busted game mechanic.

You can still earn them. Just find me. Or the hatch.

  • You haven't read my posts to everyone else.

  • @Nameless said:

Slugging for the 4k only exists because of the hatch and slugging is necessary in red ranks.

Before calling something unhealthy, maybe you should try and look for reasons on why things are the way they are. Then you would realize that the actual issue here is the controversial hatch mechanic and that killers simply want their points they worked hard for.

Yeah, uh, so, how many of us are in red ranks? This is an issue that's more about ALL ranks. And unless I'm having a really bad day with Killer, or they're full meme-team of SWF, then I always get at least 1 pip. Even if one of them escapes.

  • @MysticAdvisor said:

I currently think that the end game is unhealthy for the game.

Let me clarify: If their is 2-1 survivors left and the killer slugs till Till they find them or hook the 3rd and find hatch then go back and fourth between 2 gates that nearly always spawn near each other.

Now that is unhealthy it isn’t fun for survivor or killer and is stressful.

You at least draw the game to a close quicker and THAT is what I've been saying.

I'm talking after the gate is open, I've had more games than I can count where i've sacrified someone miles from the exit gate and while i'm doing it the gate opens, and the survivors will all stand right before the exit and wait for me to cross the entire map just so they can t-bag where i can see them and then run out as soon as i come closer. I've even stood around the corner out of sight and had them wait from 100% to 1% of the timer before they eventually leave.

My point being, that plenty of survivors are happy to waste their own time for the full duration of the collapse in order to get a t-bag off, so i'm not feeling much sympathy for the argument of slugging wasting their time.

Well, then. You seem to have run into a toxic patch of survivors. The only reason I stick around is mainly for the Survival emblem, which does say it's based on time. That and trying to get a little bit more of the Chaser emblem for stealth and running away.

  • @Endstille said:

Rampant rise? Can you give any numbers? I would be really curious to know the actual numbers of that. I doubt that this is true and has been in the game forever, this is not taking the game hostage at all. There is a set timer for people who are in the dying state.

Keys are not really balanced, you can open the hatch and if the killer closes it, it will power the exit gates which is laughable at best. Also slugging is not a strategy, it is a tactic and nothing more.

    Nothing of substance.

Numbers? No. I'm not a Dev. And for the TENTH TIME TONIGHT it never comes to the hatch existing.

And I say "taking the game hostage" as a close approximation to what I literally said later in that sentence which was artificially extending the game timer. Bleedout is long, and when it's all you have for something akin to a fighting chance, too long.

I don't care about your make believe rules. You don't like it then drop the hatch from the game and make the last survivor work for his escape instead of farming his team to a hatch victory. Slugging is a survivor induced problem that they cause themselves.

Make-believe rules? What are you smoking?

I'm asking you to get off your high-horse and grow up. Getting a 4k doesn't mean much if the community is non-existent in about a year because of people like you. And slugging is NOT a Survivor induced problem. It's lazy and unskilled Killers not wanting to actually try.

you don’t have to read it right now, but, if this topic interests you, just know that there are arguments for both sides in that thread, this is a duplicate.

I'll see how I'm feeling about it all tomorrow. I'm gonna try to get my Killer and Survivor guides done, as an expression on what ideal games hopefully look like for both sides. If they can use them to change the mentality of the community, then hopefully we can all grow and lower the toxicity levels of this game.

  • @supersonic853 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/858673#Comment_858673

Yeah well i feel the hatch itself isnt exactly a favored system since it basically tells a survivor "hey your getting absolutely destroyed you havent done any of the gens but just jump in me and you survive the killer may have done a amazing job and was fair but screw that you need this free win".

Escape does not equal a win. Not for everyone. It's currently a way to END THE GAME quicker. If you murder-rush us, then I just want the game to finish. What's so hard to understand about that?

And I'm not handing myself to you because you had a good time and were able to destroy everyone.

  • @Wuhelm said:

I slug and I will always slug for a 4k. Why should I suffer because survivors failed thier objective. My objective is to sacrifice them to the entity and I will do that by slugging, camping, tunneling and what ever else I have to do to get it.

Then you are part of the breakdown and collapse of this community. No nice way of putting it.

  • @wannabeuk said:

I often slug the third surviror in order to chase the 4th, but only if i know where the 4th is.

Also the whole "holding the game hostage, it takes longer" i'm calling bullshit on. 90% of the games where survivors get the exit gate open, they will sit for the entire endgame timer at the exit waiting for the killer so they can t-bag and run through at the last second. So i get the feeling the vast majority of survivors are fine with wasting time.

I've already debunked this point. Killers can open a gate. As for teabagging, I have my own problems that I'll be addressing in other discussions.

  • It's 6 forum pages, currently 1am where I am and everyone's already made it clear that I'm just a salty survivor that needs to "git gud" rather than giving me actual points to consider.

Unbreakable and Adrenaline CAN'T help since I'm not the downed one, and the hatch never comes into play

Healing my teammate is impossible since the killer patrols the downed person like we've 3-Gen'd ourselves or somehow knows where I am within 20 seconds of the initial hit.

I don't bring items generally, let alone keys, so I can't just open the hatch. Especially not in a 5-Gen slaughtering. Not that anyone's tried that one, but still.

  • @supersonic853 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/858654#Comment_858654

Also if the killer slugged the person and is looking for you that means they arent guarding that survivor then why dont you go over and heal them thats what i do when the killer goes slug mode for the 4k. If im the one hes hunting for.

Ummmmm. I do. It's called patrolling.

You balance hunting the last person and watching the slugged one.

  • @supersonic853 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/858643#Comment_858643

I just crawl to the exit gate with unbreakable or wait with adrenaline at it so when they close the hatch i instantly get up and start opening the gate then its a 50/50 chance of which gate they check which so far ive been pretty lucky.

That would be a good idea. If the killer went for the hatch at all.

Or if I was the slugged one.

  • @NuclearBurrito said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/858627#Comment_858627

That's not the Killer's problem and he has no obligation to make it up to you.

Take it up with BHVR's matchmaking system

Point is that the killer is punishing me for something BHVR did. Not me.

I'm not saying the killer has an obligation, I'm telling everyone to maybe reconsider using some braindead method of getting me, since normal gameplay meant that they could never find me.

  • @supersonic853 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/858609#Comment_858609

SO if ive utterly destroyed you guys hooked each of you all 3 of the times (except for the last 2 obviously) and you still have a few gens left (like 3) and i down the other survivor you think i should just kill them on the hook and let you get the potential of a free win even though you didnt do literally anything towards your objective? No i did a good job im gonna down that survivor and hunt you down and if your hiding on the hatch thats good because you didnt deserve it anyway.

So, you're gonna punish ME for being randomly assigned potatoes? Wow.

I work for my place in this game. I do generators, I go for unhooks. I do everything I can for the team. If the other 3 idiots don't know how to work a generator for once, that's not MY fault and I shouldn't be punished for it because "buh, muh fer keh"

  • @supersonic853 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/106497/slugging-for-the-4k-is-unhealthy

so a killer isnt supposed to want to kill everyone...? Also If i use something like survivor pudding you can bet im gonna kill everyone. Also the devs have talked about this holding the game hostage is only if you trap a survivor in the corner and refuse to move. If you ask me they should follow the system of their other game when you have 1 survivor left deathgarden.

Killer is meant to EARN their kills.

If we could all just stop usig cheap tactics that take no skill, the game would be in a better place.

  • @csandman1977 said:

Killers goal is to sacrifice ALL the survivors. Many killers don't care but the ones that do are called 'sweaty' or 'try-hard' or worse for attempting to complete their objective.

Reverse it. Generators are done and killer hooks someone. Most survivors 99% the exit gates and go back to save the survivor. They are artificially extending the game to deny the killer their objective.

Haven't heard anyone complain about that. Some survivors leave but most at least attempt to get everyone out.

There's no difference between a killer trying to secure a 4k and survivors trying to get everyone out.

Only difference is survivors don't think it's fun to crawl around on the floor.

Killers can opem a 99'd gate.

And a lot of my discussions are Killer favoured.

  • @Blueberry said:

Slugging for a 4k is not unhealthy. It also isn't holding the game hostage.

Slugging for the 4k is necessary to avoid the broken hatch mechanic. The emblem system also punishes you if you don't.

You wanna talk unhealthy? Leaving your teammmate on the ground to bleed out why you sit in the corner of the map by the hatch waiting for him to die.

The "boring" response about being slugged just doesn't make sense either. Whether you are sitting on the ground or sitting on the hook, either way you are doing nothing. At least with slugging you can try and crawl away and possibly get up without costing you one of your hooks. You also have multiple anti slug perks available.

That's cute. You think that I'm the one getting slugged. 99% of the time, the killer has never seen me when they do this.

And the hatch mechanic was more broken before.

It's also kinda hard to heal the poor slugged victim when killers patrol their bait.

  • @GodNap said:

I never said it wasn't. I think one-sided slaughters are unhealthy, but they still happen.

This, though, is an issue that is a simple change by a few people.

Genuine question because from what I've seen of my solo queues and playing as killer.

Nobody in this game can hit ruin so I am genuinely wondering how much of the player base can hit the wretched ruin?

Pretty rarely. There feels like a slight input delay on console, but that might just be my controller.

It'd be nice to see Ruin changed to something less hit/miss than a Great Skill Check.

  • @MegMain98 said:

@PigMainClaudette I play on PS4 and I do mainly play Plague. I have mained her since her release.

She isn’t NEARLY as hindered by controller movement like Nurse or Huntress. She is a pretty straight forward killer. It can be a pain if the survivors run into your model since she is super tall. It can cause you to miss a lot of your puke. All killers are a little limited by controller movements especially ones with projectiles but Plague doesn’t have to be super accurate.

You can get lag spikes but I don’t get them playing Plague. I get BAD lag spikes as Hag and Demogorgon.

I get lag across the board. Survivor and killer. Again, that's mainly because of Australian NBN.

And I know that Plague's easy to hit. I've been against her quite a bit.

Add Legion too that PC better List. Random FPS drop on console means good bye power.

Plague is not nearly as hindered by FPS from PC to Console like Huntress or Nurse tho.

Plague is the least hindered by aiming with a controller, but the FPS drops aren't really a problem for me as I instead have to contend with GIANT LAG SPIKES because Australian internet.

The bigger problem for those 3 is actually learning to aim without an indication of where you're aiming. This affects the Huntress greatly and really places her lower on the console tier list to the point where she's possibly the weakest killer on console.

Clown and Plague are somewhat of an AoE effect, so Clown you have to get "close enough" and Plague you just swivel the stick back and forth. Then just let your power do all the work for you.

Accused of just a killer pretending to be a survivor main, or a survivor pretending to be a killer main.

The community needs to be cleaned up? Seriously? Toxic people exist. Nothing new to the this community, the internet or the world.

Yes, toxic people exist, but there seems to be a greater concentration on these forums. It's such a one-sided argument on anything. You're either on Team Killer or Team Survivor and you simply refuse to accept or even consider anything the other side is saying.

It's really hard to play both here and the OP is right. The community has to take a good look at itself. I even had a thread about it regarding all the killer nerfs people keep complaining for.

  • @Zender said:

So he’s a reskinned billy with a buy-in to use his power?

    So, a more balanced Hillbilly?

I like his power way more because it seems like I can actually do something about his power.

  • I like that his instant-down is a build up power, rather than a base kit. Aesthetic is top notch. Love the mori. Still can't give actual feedback, being a console player.

The only change that I could see would be an AoE slam rather than the instant down, but that'd probably be really hard to code.

  • I don't think that it's necessarily the dev's fault for the community splitting itself. DbD is an entirely competitive game due to its ranking system, and that's probably going to hurt the game as a whole. There is also the problem of people who exclusively play one side, and those who play both tend to be ignored.

There are also the issues of Killers abusing their power with techniques and strategies like camping or tunnelling. Even stuff as simple of bringing a Mori. Then people come to the forums and there are essentially 2 things said then:

    • "Survivors shouldn't tell the killer how to play"
    • "Don't be such a trash killer and use dog tactics"

While I personally lead towards the second side there, I can see why some killers would use NoED. On a slower killer such as Trapper, sure. It does make some sense. Hillbilly? Yeah, no.

Most of the issues with the game should cease when both sides can see the plights of the other and stop shooting each other down instantly when ideas are put forth.

I still don't get why adults make fun of little kids for liking fortnite lol

It's not that good a game and it's super annoying to see kids constantly raving about it and doing the emotes in my classes when I have specifically said that they're not acceptable or banned.

Apex Legends is objectively a better battle royale. The art style isn't all that and was done better in Borderlands. Gunplay is terrible, as you're rolling dice to hit rather than actual skill. Most of the emotes/dances are stolen without any credit to the creators. And the main reason that people ever really got into it is because it was free and trendy.

Anyway, my point was more the emotes in public part.

  • TBH it depends on if you're playing on console or PC, since that affects the rankings quite a bit. Especially for Huntress, Nurse and Plague.

Spirit, Myers and Hillbilly are up the top on both though, if that helps.

  • @survivormain1105 said:

But really the killers are varied I play against them all ib red ranks. And if the killer knows what he is doing then he will probably get a 4k or at least the 3k

We are not playing the same Dead by Daylight then.

As soon as I hit purple, it was Hillbilly County, population 99% chainsaws!

Got through to rank 7, then there were some Myers thrown into the mix for flavour. Not really anything noteworthy outside of that.

  • Look, the best I've been at in terms of rank was 1 pip off rank 5.

Yes it is easy to get a 4k, but once you go past rank 10, you're only gonna verse about 3 killers. For console players, it's Hillbilly, Myers and Spirit with a sprinkling of Ghostface for 95% of games. 4/17 Members of the cast after half the ranks are cleared, or about 23.5% of them.

That's nowhere near enough. We're asking for buffs to see some goddam diversity in the ranks. We wanna see some more variety than Bbq, Ruin + 2 killer related perks in perk builds. More than Spirit/Hillbilly/Ghostface/Myers/Nurse and certainly more than D-Strike, Adren, Spine Chill, Iron Will.

  • I like the idea of Ruin slowing down the game, but the current iteration just promotes Survivors hunting it down super quickly.

If you have it as a literal slowing effect, then it might not become so mandatory. Think of changing it to an effect similar to the slowing effect of having multiple Survivors on a gen. That way it is still equally effective at all ranks, still good for killers to quote Monto, and less infuriating for Survivors to go up against.

If the community as a whole did a complete 180 with the toxicity, do you think it could be an interesting addition?

There is a very small group of people that want voice comms, and a giant group that doesn't including the devs. It's not in the best interest of the games health as it would put a rise in toxicity. Higher than it is currently. There's far more negatives with adding it than positives.

So, we all need to work together to lower the toxicity levels in the game. I agree on that. I just thought that it'd be an interesting idea and I did say that it could be disabled as an option. If someone doesn't like the idea, then they'd simply turn it off.

  • Wow. This got a lot of "No" comments after I said that both the chainsaws maybe DON'T need instant-downs.

    @Eleghost said:

no. no. no. I don't want some 10 year old screaming in my ears as i'm carrying them to the hook calling me racist names and saying how he banged my mom. Look comms aren't necessary. More utility for solo survivors would make them close to what swf is.

And that's what the report features are for on all platforms. Besides, there'd always be the option to turn the feature off. Obviously.

Well, yeah. Of course children are going to play it. It SHOULD be up to the parents to monitor what their kids are playing.

As for raw age, though, if you're say 15 and mature enough to be around adults, then sure. It's more the complete children that would stereotypically populate the Reddit sub-forum "I'm 13 and this is deep". Or play Fortnite and do the emotes in public unironically.

I know this is an old post but I have a number of issues with it. Nothing personal, sorry.

1: Without speed boosts from perks or add-ons, Bubba's chainsaw is very cumbersome to use. Getting up close and personal is the right call most of the time.

2: Ditto for it being brainlessly easy to use, that's just not the case. It might not require a PhD in Chainsaw Physics like Hillbilly, but he still slows down on the rev and the speed doesn't come back until near the end of the attack's channel. It's very easy for Bubba to loop himself by revving at the wrong time vs a good survivor.

3: That squealing is one of Bubba's trademarks, it was minted on the big screen in 1974. It's been around longer than most of this forum's posters have been alive. Like the name of his flick implies, he is a mentally challenged Southerner from an inbred family of cannibals. Leatherface isn't just drawing on a stereotype, he's part of the reason it exists.

All that said, yeah. I imagine most people dislike Bubba because he's designed to camp. His instant down isn't actually all that great in a chase vs experienced survivors and hook rescues are pretty much the only time when you can take advantage of the chainsaw's AoE.

Bubba is both rewarded for camping by having a power that's good at it and punished for not camping by having a power that sucks at everything else.

I get the whole inbread Southerners stereotype kinda started with him, but it's just the frequency I hear it.

I also had a thread how I said that I'm fine with Hillbilly and Leatherface having a chainsaw and their overall ability, except for the instant down. If they didn't just instant down you, I'd be fine with his camping style kit.

  • It's going to be their ancestor rather than Rin's father. Simple reason:

The Entity already was going to choose Rin's father, but decided that, with her pure rage, Rin would be the better choice. Also, the trailer had stuff going towards the Yamako mask, which was apparently worn by the first Yamako. And the translation of the voice states something to the effect of: "Your blood belongs to the Yamakos"

It's going to be their Oni-looking samurai ancestor.

Then we’re obviously playing two different games, if you think the optimization is even acceptable compared to any other game right now. 😂

I never said it was comparable. Just that I never had any major issues. I did have a problem with hitboxes for a small bit though, but they seem to have fixed themselves. And the only lag I get is because the Australian government can't make a national broadband for Legion's tier rating.

  • Hag is overrated. Clown is underrated.

Hag is just a glorified camper with her traps, especially the way that most people play her against me. You are not that good if you just run back/teleport and hit me again immediately after I'm unhooked, you are just a coward and abusing your basic kit.

Clown can actually shut down a chase quite well, if people practice enough with him. I reckon that his slowing effect on his bottles is a much greater asset to his kit that most people seem to overlook. Especially since you don't need to be Huntress levels of accurate to get the effect out of his bottles.

  • Well, I have the main problem of categories of perks. So, for me saying what is the "best perk" is like saying what's the best is like saying what's the best type of car. It depends on what you're after.

If I had to choose one though?

BBq for Killers. For sure. You have a detection perk and a BP farming perk in one. Even at level 1, it's still one of the best perks in the game.

Survivors, I'm going to have to say Self Care. The ability to heal without finding someone else is quite strong and useful.

  • Stealth killers are great for getting that first hit off, but they can struggle when in a chase. Trapper is a very basic killer, and his traps are very easy to catch people out at lower ranks.

Doctor can be quite good too, with Distressing. Preferably with a yellow Order add-on too. He gives off great detection and map pressure.

I wouldn't recommend going straight to Nurse or Spirit as they can be pretty hard to get a hang of.

Hillbilly is also great for map mobility, and his chainsaw is an instant down, but I personally hate how 90% of Hillbillies use their power. That is to say, super close to me.

  • None of them really scare me any more. Of course, something like Trapper or Hag will make me go "OH, FU" when I trigger one of the traps but none of them actually terrify me.

1 … 65 66 67 68 69 70
