I want the game to be balanced not survivor or killer sided.
So do I. It is why I play both sides, and can consider points of both sides and their playstyles.
If I had to pick a side to be slightly stronger than the other, I would easily say killer. It is (technically) the power role and the one who should decide the flow of the game. And ironically enough, I play a significant amount of survivor over killer.
-
Insidious Doctor.
Trust me, ok. Have Distressing, Whispers, Insidious and probably something like Hex: Ruin with the TR manipulating add-ons based on Static Blast (Calm/Order, I forget since I only use these two......) then wait in an area with zero TR and then suddenly zap them out of nowhere.

Dont you know survivors dont care for balance and just want everything nerfed so they never lose lol.
Same can be said for killers.
It's people who only play one side who give the ridiculous requests that hugely benefit one side.

And you have a 75% chance for failing. It’s complete RNG.
Guessing game.
There is a difference. Statistically there is random chance, but it's not a case of the box randomly determining to give you the key. Keys are in a pre-determined box and it's up to you to pick the right one. RNG is the box randomly deciding your fate upon completion.
It's also statistically 75% on the FIRST one. Then 66.6%, 50% then 0%.

Is there a fear of injury? They could always rename it xd
Traumatophobia. Doesn't have the same ring to it as Thanataphobia, and the original version of the perk did also count dead survivors.
-
The thing is as well, is that there's STRATEGIC use of tunnelling/camping/slugging and then there's being a dick about it, since killer is technically the power role of the game. Survivors can influence the flow of the game, but it is largely the killer that can control it.
Gen-rush is also a realisation of survivors as a whole that everyone working on a different generator is really fast and Discordance was a perk that had been growing in popularity. Discordance broke up multiple people working on a generator, now people know how good splitting up is and dividing the killer's attention.
In a sense, both sides are punished for going through a game very quickly through minimal emblems and less rank progression. Problem is with this is that BOTH sides are punished when a killer camps/tunnels/slugs because they weren't even allowed to play the game.
There is also the poor mindset of some killers of "I payed money for this game, I can play how I want" to which all I can say is I did too, and I literally can't play when you play like that. This is an attitude that needs to be removed from the game, and we also have to realise that "KILLER" isn't just a killer, they are a predator.
Freddy Kruger didn't just appear out of nowhere in someone's dreams and murder them, and Pennywise didn't just eat kids whenever he came across them, John Kramer didn't straight up kill those he wished to test, so why do their DbD counterparts get away with acting like B-Movie slasher villains? Yes, Myers and Leatherface are slasher villains, but one is evil incarnate and the other is a mentally handicapped son of inbreeding in rural America. Dead by Daylight is labelled as an asymmetrical HORROR experience, though. Friday the 13th is more of the typical slasher style.
Hatch is fine as it is, and is a way to force out the last survivor. Depending on the killer and door spawns, it's also quite easy to get out when the hatch is closed.
Most of the problems such as camping, tunnelling, slugging and gen-rushing are issues that we have to accept as a community and band together against. The devs have given us tools to deal with them, such as perks like Decisive Strike, Borrowed Time, Surge and Pop Goes the Weasel but it is up to us to discourage the use of such tactics. If they say they're legitimate tactics, then they are. But George Lucas calls lightsabres "laser swords" when all the science has proven them to be plasma, so I'm going to go with the devs aren't 100% correct. It's like I said in my opening: There is strategic and then there is being a dick about it.

Hillbilly, simply because anytime I play him the match ends in 2 minutes because most teams snowball into a 4k.
^ Yep. Instant downs are generally pretty boring. Devour Hope is the exception to me.
Probably Hag too, or at least how too many people play her. Nurse is a point and click adventure.
I think that I'm going to have to go with Bubba though, since being able to sprint around the map with Hillbilly can still be pretty fun, seeing if you can weave in between obstacles and getting the best accidental snipes. Bubba is just find survivor, chainsaw survivor, hook survivor, probably camp.
-
The illusions can't break pallets, but they do replace them. Over time.
If the Doctor has destroyed a pallet, then it can be replaced by an illusory pallet that disappears when a survivor afflicted by Madness approaches it, there is a small static effect and Doctor laugh that plays. They are also not restricted by numbers.
Freddy's are limited to 10, can be placed "anywhere" and spurt blood like Johnny Depp in the first Nightmare movie. Yes it is him. Look it up.

OK, sounds like the consensus is definitely that I just need to focus entirely on boxes when trapped. I think I'd gotten lucky and gotten it despite dawdling a few times, and assumed that was the normal, and the times when I'd dawdled and died was bad luck. I will assume the worst in the future. :D
Thanks!
That is indeed the case. Much like the actual SAW series, Pig thrives on indecision to get kills and this is especially true with the RBT. Unless they're running Crate of Gears, Tampered Timer, someone does a gen as/while you're hooked, you're on a map like Mother's Dwelling or Temple of Purgation and you're unlucky then an RBT kill is near impossible.

First of all you came onto my post nobody told u to so if anything your wasting my time your complaining about a totem perk that really isn't the core issue with dbd. The devs even made perks to encourage surviors to do bones but naw instead of doing that your crying about noed. Maybe take your adrenaline to or unbreakable off and put on small game. Also how tf am I supposed to know what u play on. Find some real "core issues" with the game cuz totems perks ain't it.
I don't use Adrenaline. Or Unbreakable. I do bones.
As for the "core issue" it is simply bad perk design.

What I dont understand is how your completely twisting a entire post about this. I mentiond him because of the fact Forever Freddy was more or less the straw that broke the camel's back when it came to slowdown perks when Peanits mentioned they wanted to prevent stacking of slowdown perks. Your getting upset over the fact I mentiond him.
All i was saying was the gen blocking of 2 perks paired with either Ruin or surge and not having regression seemed weird and was wondering why.
Also for almost a year before Ruin was reworked i told people they should stop using it on this forum go find some old Ruin post. So ya stop twisting comments man to make your arguement feel better.
I will say this though about forever Freddy. If you invested the time to make that build and get those addons. I highly doubt i would care to whatever you say. The only reason anyone won with that build was survivors got frustrated enough to give up since it was a waste of time.
Either way I'm done I prefer not to go around in circles.
I said "IT WOULD BE NICE IF THEY DID WORK TOGETHER" in my final line. I do not twist posts. And I did not get worked up over anything. If anything you're the one who's getting worked up here.
All I did was explain how the constant investment in something like the add-ons for Forever Freddy is a different story to gathering two perks. I also tried to clarify what I said when you replied initially and seemingly dismiss my point as to how they were different cases that don't really deserve comparison.
-
Being able to reconnect would open up a lot of problems. I could literally Xbox Home a game, close Dead by Daylight and technically re-enter the match and continue on like nothing happened. I get into a bad chase? I DC and rejoin to avoid the hook.
That being said, as someone who does experience random internet cuts because of course Australian NBN never works properly, it would be nice to not be punished because my government are worse at providing something like internet than Wraith players perpetuating a face-camping stereotype.

The difference is while Legion requires some level of skill and minimal mistakes. Pre-Nerf Forever Freddy was just overbearing enough that they could make massive mistakes over and over and still come out on top.
Anyone's investing into it or not was not the point of it. I was just mentioning that was not what I was talking about. I wanted to know why 2 perks that block gens quite literally block regression even with perks that start regression.
The add-on investment is kinda the point though. They randomly appear, and to get the necessary add-ons is a purple and green, which is a minimum of 11,000 BP on top of what you have to spend to get to those add-ons.
And don't get me wrong, Forever Freddy was super overbearing and needed deleting, but to get Thanataphobia/Dying Light/Swinging Chains/Jump Rope into the one game is a very big investment compared to something like Ruin/Thrilling Tremors.
It'd be nice if they did work together though. But I also found the reworked Hex: Ruin to still be effective if you knew what to do, rather than complaining about losing a crutch like half the killer community.
-
Vanity Mirror can still have builds made around it though. It can also be combined with the Dead Rabbit and M&A and all you're missing out on then is Undetectable, or the aura reading part of it.
I'd also argue that the Boyfriend's Note (Tier-1 lunge) is the WORST Shape add-on as it's such a small benefit and is only really usable in one very specific type of build.
-

I know they never have I was just wondering why? The slowdown perks stacking AKA Forever Freddy prenerf was overbearing and allowed inexperienced killers to jumps in ranks solely based on the time it took. Not only that, but the overall feel of the match was just boring and many people would rather suicide or DC.
I'm curious why thinks like Thrilling Tremors or Dead Man's Switch cuts off Regression if you have perks like Ruin or Surge. As neither of these can he considered a slowdown perk more a delay tactic as if the gens 99% than after that it remains 99%.
Forever Freddy is indeed an easy way to rank up, but so is being halfway decent as Legion. I've double-pipped as Legion with only one kill, but yeah, every other survivor was dead on their next hook too, so you know. Close enough.
Forever Freddy is also extremely add-on dependant, and required devotion into his bloodwebs specifically to maintain the use of all those add-ons. Perks are a bit more of a permanent thing, as once you have them on a character, they stay there. Unless you Prestige.
-
The Halloween chapter has some of the best perks to date, but you already have that one.
It also depends for me if you're on PC or console as to what you should buy, since console only has the "Special Edition" as our option, which gives us the Spark of Madness and Flesh & Blood chapters base. Lullaby for the Dark should also be free, so grab that one.
As for every other DLC, Spirit is a strong killer and has some decent teachables and some of Adam's perks are usable in some builds/situations. Freddy is currently (arguably) the best killer in the game, or at least he has the highest kill confirmed rating.
Ghostface is also probably the best stealth killer in the game, but there is also a case for Myers. As my name implies though, I just love Pig. She has EVERYTHING that a stealth killer needs. She's such a toolbox killer, but kinda low on the tier lists.
-
Agitation is just better, not because of the raw distance, but rather the time it saves.
If a hook is even remotely close, then the extra movement speed will have them hooked sooner.
-
It's quite simple really.
If you know what you're doing, then new Ruin can be really powerful. If you're a slower killer, then you can now chase a survivor and the generator is regressing. You have now saved time not kicking and it regresses faster than normal.
Some of us realised very quickly that new Ruin is still really good. A lot more people didn't stop and think about it or look into it. A lot of the latter have also switched to NoED to cover up for a lack of skill.

Y would I open the gate only so they can go to the other gate. That's dumb and what do u mean "bug the other side" and there is no excuse to not do bones in 2020 and hide behind chat crying because of noed.
You open the gate to force the hand of survivors. I said don't pull the "buh survivors" thing because killer and survivor are two completely separate games. In my opening comment on this thread, and one I say in many others is that I do an average 2-4 bones per match, by myself, without Small Game or Detective's Hunch.
I go against NoED because it is bad perk design. I have also highlighted how to fix it.
And what chat? I play on Xbox and manage to do just fine WITHOUT NoED.
If you can come up with a better solution, than I have or a better excuse than "But Adrenaline/Gen-rush/do bones", then please, let me know now. Otherwise stop wasting my time by defending serious and core issues.

Nobody wants survivors to just camp or crouch walk around the map at end game because they got that NOED notification they do anything but walk around the map hiding till they find it.
Then open the gate and apply pressure through that.
Or run another perk.
There is no excuse in 2020 to hide behind bad perk design and say "Buh the other side".

Would just like to add, that the minute you know the killer is a Myers. You know tier 3 is going to happen sooner or later. {unless it's a certain special build.] While you can also deny it to him as long as possible, by trying to break line of slight. So the killer being Myers, is also a warning, you are going have to deal with a expose effect sometime during this match. That and when Myers goes from tier one to two, you can hear the music. Giving away it's a Myers. Unless someone has never played against a Myers before, you are normally given a fair bit of advance warning, before tier three happens. Why you might not have any idea, when tier three will happen. You know it's going to happen sooner or later and you better be ready for it.
Which as for Rancor. Yes, you are marked with a expose effect, after the last gen is done. Which here is a video from puppers, showing it in effect. So Rancor and Myers would be the same, in terms of getting an advance warning and mark with expose effect when it triggers. https://youtu.be/YuAC5t2ZCuM?t=325
Point was with Myers that as soon as he enters Tier-III, the Exposed notice happens. I was just pointing out how almost every Exposed effect has an instant warning. Probably my biggest hatred of NoED.

Save the Best For Last -- she has a method of taking out the obsession without losing tokens, and that cooldown at 8 tokens is right nasty.
BBQ + Chili -- Good for finding your next target
Pop Goes The Weasel -- Good for Gen Slowdown
Any perk of your choice. Personally I like Discordance (Can help me get a good start if two people work on a gen together), Nurse's Calling, Hex: Devour Hope, or if the survivors are carrying more items than an item shop in a JRPG -- Franklin's Demise. Depends a lot on my mood.
My favorite Addons are Video Tape, any of the ones that add an RBT, and any of the ones that add a Jigsaw Box. John's Medical File is good too if you don't have enough add-ons. I've found Face Mask mostly useless. Razor Wires is probably her worst add-on.
Anything that affects the boxes is detrimental to the Pig except for the Gears family of add-ons and the trap effects are questionable. Neurotoxin should be applied to Dash, for example. Not the trap.
-
I use Surveillance, Hex: Ruin, A Nurse's Calling and BBq & Chilli. You can probably swap BBq for something else if you really want. I'm finding it less essential on every build I run these days.
As for add-ons, I like a few combinations. John's Medical File/Video Tape/Combat Straps for dash usage, Crate of Gears/Tampered Timer for fantastic box stall/pressure.
-
Make Your Choice notifies on the unhook, Haunted Ground notifies as soon as the totem is broken, Myers Tier-III shows as soon as it's entered, GF mark is shown as soon as the stalk is complete, Iron Maiden shows as soon as you leave the locker, Red-head's Pinky Finger shows up as soon as the bottle collides with you, I don't know about Rancor since whenever I go against it, I'm either not the Obsession or die before endgame.

Not really as long as u don't take it out on the killer that's your team fault
I don't take it out on anyone. I have my moment of "OF EFFING COURSE THEY'RE RUNNING NOED" and how my team are idiots, die as a result of this garbage perk, and move on to the next game.
There is an easy solution to all of this though: Make it give the Exposed notice when Endgame triggers, AND make it only come into effect when all 5 generators are powered. This brings it more in line with more of the perks, and less frustrating to go against. Considering it is a basic perk, and not a teachable, there is NO reason why the perk should have that much power, especially since it's activation requirement is basically "be losing".
As far as I know, there are currently two effects that hide the Exposed status: NoED and Devour Hope. One of which requires work, is a teachable, and only has one "active" totem.
-
It's not just you.
Right after reset I had 5 games. 4 different killers. 4 Ebony Mori's. All running NoED.
Huntress tunnelled the Obsession (not me!) all game with Iri hatchets.
Spirit got me with NoED since they went to my gate first. Didn't notice any camping, but they were pretty quick near a hook.
Second Spirit was more of a baby, and wouldn't leave me alone for 3 generators. The only chase perk I used was Balanced Landing. On a MacMillain map, the one with the white shed.
Hillbilly sawed everyone but never saw me and I got hatch. Had Thompson Mix and Primer Bulb.
SAME HILLBILLY had a grudge but no mori. Came afer me, but forced to use hammer on Hawkins. Downed right near the basement near the Upside-Down. Other Yui saved me with Breakout, then a pallet stun. And a flashlight save. Lost him as I went upstairs and healed. He DC'd soon after. Only targeted me and DC'd when they lost me.
This time Thompson Mix and Carb Tuning Guide. INSTA-SAW AND NOED. TWICE.
Not super toxic, but still more than the usual amount. Baby Spirit was the nicest match, besides Hillbilly DC'ing on me.
Other than that, just one super-toxic facecamping Huntress just because.
Then again, also eaten some of the rainbow. Full team trying to do a generator in my face. At least two of them on the ground for a full minute. I was Legion.
And a blue SWF squad with an OoO teabagger. Devour Hope helped as my Deathslinger only needed to hit once in the end.

I think Self-Care wouldn't get as much hate if most people who run it use when someone isn't hooked. Because the iire of the person who is hooked, watching you healing yourself nearby and not coming to rescue you just continues to grow and grow as each hand of the Entity spawns in.
Well, there are a few questions to be asked there.
Such as how close is the killer? Was I healing when you got hooked? Do you have Kindred or I have Bond and someone else is closer?
Part of my continued use is also I run off to nearby cover after being unhooked. It's not that I prefer to heal myself, it's that I don't want the killer on me in two seconds flat. It's probably a misunderstanding from both of us then.
-
Gonna get a lot of hate for this one, but honestly Self-Care. I like NOT going down in one hit, so I heal myself.
I'm in the same boat as Peanits, how it isn't just one perk for every killer. But much like Almo I love Surveillance. I've been using it since before the Ruin rework, and I've always found it better than Discordance for a majority of killers.

Assuming they did have one unhook. 1,000.
His teammate had Prove Thyself. By triple teaming a gen or two, you can max objective very quickly. 8,000 (9,000).
One unhook activates Deliverance. That with Decisive Strike is another 3,000 (12,000).
Max boldness from long chases that he lost (with lots of pallets and vaults) and a few totems. 8,000 (20,000).
The points add up. He didn’t accomplish enough per the emblem system, which also adds up.
I thought that Prove Thyself only gave extra points to the person running the perk.
But besides that small issue, the rest all stacks up.

You should be able to do a Mouseover to see how exactly your Emblem happend.
Judging by your Benevolence-Emblem you got at least one unsafe Hook Rescue. Those are awarded with 1000 BPs, but when they are unsafe, you get punished quite heavily in your Emblem.
You did not survive that long, therefore Bronce Unbroken.
Also your Lightbringer is Silver, so you did not do that much for the Objective, but you might get a lot of Objective Points because of Co-Op Action.

Sprint Burst is ideal for an early and quick get-away before you can be hit or ambushed and get some extra distance. In a grouped-up scenario, it can convince the killer to go after another survivor, since they're closer. I really like it on my stealth build to get away from the killer quickly to find another hiding spot.

The fact is, if i try to play killer by the rules, without camping and tunneling, i am insulted in the end game chat anyway. Survivors dont honor such behavior if they escape. Happens to me time and again, because i always try it. After 2 such games, 1 either go back playing survivor, or i tunnel and camp. Because then only half the survivors are toxic in the end game chat, because the other half already left.
My advice would be to just turn the chat off then. If people won't respect you, then disrespecting others isn't the answer.
They're also probably the type who only play one side. Something I feel is a blight on the community, since they do not understand the other side in the slightest.

If you want to continue fighting, go to talk in a private chat. Thank you.
I apologise.
It's just that I felt insulted and challenged by how @elvangulley came at me.
From how I see it, I said there is more than just the 4k, they implied that I am an entitled survivor main who only wants easy escapes. I have just defended my position in response.
And elvangulley, don't assume anything about me. Ask questions first, and get to know me. I can be quite reasonable, when I'm not feeling personally attacked. Believe it or not, I much prefer a hard escape and find the EGC or hatch escape way better than a 4-man gen-rush escape against a baby killer.
There's also the issue of I can't understand your position if you don't explain it to me. This is why I say to justify your play style. It's not to be a snob or act superior, it's so I can actually see what you mean.
I think that playing the role of a horror psycho is better than mindless killing, the Emblem system supports me. You think that raw kills are better. Let's leave it at that.

Well, the game was slower at the time of Clown's release and having a killer who could end chases with an AoE effect AND give information was huge. He would have been designed with all that in mind.
