It's to lull you into a false sense of trust my friend just like boops we will humour you until we see our moment to slow tea bag you.. I joke I can say most of my fellow piggy be very kind fun and beautiful souls.

I love and have great respect for my fellow pig players even though I don't agree with them most the time I still love them regardless.

    🐷💯💖

    Survivor: sees Pig

    That survivor:

    images (15).jpeg images (16).jpeg

Me, that Pig: Do it and I stab you.

  • So, one of these literally ignores the map's existence and all survivor defences associated with it. That is a huge thing to conveniently forget or omit from your opening statement.

  • Hi, yeah, Aus console player.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? WASTING TIME? TEABAGGING? No. I don't do that. Stop stereotyping all of us because of a few.

Console players do have a more methodical and slow approach compared PC players, but I in no way waste time.

Every time I see you post and realize how much we agree on I like you a little more.

EDIT: Do you use Self Care/Botany/Desperate/Resilience?

Nope. Lately I've been running Lithe/Self-Care/Spine Chill then Resilience until tunnelling happens then back to DS.

It's all about self-sufficiency. Spine Chill acts as another set of eyes to go with my headset, Lithe is just a useful Exhaustion perk that actually works when it's needed, Resilience because if I'm not getting hit, something wrong and you can 99 it but it isn't a huge bonus. Self-Care because reliability and less restrictions on it's use.

  • I have Resilience too, so if I can 99 it, then I will. Also with the math provided by @Slashstreetboy above, I'm now technically faster with resilience!

My post "Confessions of a Self-Care User" cover why I personally use it, but basically it comes down to me not being able to rely on teammates.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/192624/maybe-generator-speeds-arent-the-problem

I don't think gens or maps are the problem! I can agree with you about gen regression speed, because it'll probably wane PGTW out of the meta.

But I don't think gen speeds or regression is the problem. I think the problem lies within the viability of some killers and there lack of map pressure!

Even still, a good portion of these killers CAN still come back from a bad start. I've had 2 matches on Haddonfield as Pig where two generators popped, one just before first hook and the other before I even got a hit of a survivor.

Terrible start, right? Yeah. I didn't feel great.

Still won tho. One was a 4k, and the other was at least a 2/3k. Just goes to show to never give up and that Altruism CAN get you killed!

  • So, I've covered over why these comparisons are terrible in another thread before, but I'll change it slightly for here.

Reworking a killer's power is reworking a whole character, as their power is largely separate from gameplay. It is THEIR UNIQUE part within the game, not a shared mechanic. Survivors aren't.

If you are asking for a rework to SURVIVORS, you are asking for a rework to an entire GAME SYSTEM.

  • You hear plant noises?

    Huh.

I just have weird thoughts clawing at my mind from all over. Always.

  • The thing is for those of us who DON'T teabag at gates and wait, is that we're waiting to make sure that everyone can get out.

Kicking a gen insta regresses it by 10%.

Its just not worth it when 3 survivor meanwhile repair gens for the same amount you just regressed.

If they touch the Repair system it should not only help red rank Killers but also help rank 15-20 survivor doing their stuff faster.

I like @Raptorrotas's suggestion more since Pop Goes the Weasel is a perk, and killers should still have SOME incentive to run it. Not that they need it currently, but 10% base would make Pop almost obsolete.

  • @Slashstreetboy said:

I think the actual completion speed is less of a problem than the Killers ability to contest gens. There´s less than a handful of the roster that can actually pressure gens without walking from gen to gen for 40+seconds.

This is why speed is brought up imo, as from the Killers POV it feels too fast.

The current gen-kick mechanic just isn´t worth it most of the time. What you stated is true, the 2,5 second kick can be undone faster than the eye can see, and for the regression to have any impact the gen has to be not touched for extended periods of time.

I´d suggest to double the regular kick regression to 50% of progression speed. With this, ruin would regress just as fast as regular repair speed. On top of that, gen-tapping should be adressed. I´m convinced anything less wouldn´t be impactful enough to justify putting ressources into changing it.

It's funny that you mention killers seeing them go by fast, because I've had SO MANY times on the survivor's side where they're slower than me after I wake up of a morning.

It is a matter of perspective, which is why I am also saying to AVOID generator total speed, but also to indeed promote more interaction between both sides.

  • A) Take a break or make a smurf to drop rank. They're free on console, and it's working well for me.

    B) It's probably to do with the asymmetrical nature of the game and modern entitled attitudes to everything. And I mean EVERYTHING.

    C) Not at all. Just take a small break, focus on Archives and try a new killer.

  • Somehow I'm enjoying it more on an alternate account with complete jank perks than more meta ones on red ranks.

Well, my potatoes aren't complete spuds like yours apparently though.

  • @Kind_Lemon said:

Really? The instant I turned off cross play, the difficulty level of the survivors shot up. This was before rank reset, I should say. Most importantly, it felt like I stopped bullying players with less skill.

I'm an Xbox player and Cross-play has flooded MY survivor games w I th brainless too. It's not a PC excusive thing.

  • I like suffering. The game also generally has a slower pace compared to other games I play like Siege and Destiny.

It's also not the game that I take issue with a majority of the time.

  • I'm about the same time as you, but playing for 2 years. Part of the reason that I don't play as much is that the community has devolved over time and become more accustomed to resorting to scummy tactics in matches, or instantly leaving games.

I also burn out on games occasionally Nd I really didn't want to do that to DbD. By playing less per session, I'm getting way more time in game in the long run.

I slug people at times, I hook and check the proximity to check for sneaky hidden survivors and move out to disrupt the generators, if they save and I haven't found a new target I will head back and go for the first survivor I see.

If that survivor is the one I just hooked isn't that on the survivors responsibility? Didn't they let it get to that point? Yet somehow in this case it is me who is toxic.

That is the hypocrisy that is what I am talking about. Yes it is my responsibility to deal with the perks they bring, it is my goal to prevent them from charging up all the generators and it is my goal to kill them. Yet it isn't their responsibility to defend their team mates, to identify the situation and rush the gens and win with 3 escapes when the killer is committing to a losing strategy? Just take the hit and know you carried the team to victory?

    I have been called:

    1. A toxic tunneling killer. Cause killing people is not one of my goals right?

    2. A toxic proxy camper killer. Apparently defending your interests is not one of my goals right?

    3. A toxic generator camper. Apparently preventing people from completing the gens in a good 3 gen is not a goal either?

    4. A slugging toxic killer, because I smacked down multiple people in a row and chased the last one.

    5. A noob easy trash killer, because I focused on chasing and in that time they slammed 5 gens and all escaped with 0 hooks... somehow my fun was not considered and still got called names.

In the meanwhile survivors are all just strategic, playing well when they:

    1. Use DS in the late game for a guaranteed escape.

    2. Body block hooks for the wiggle free.

    3. Slam gens and secure victory before a first hook. Don't see how this isn't denying a killer their gameplay compare to erasing a survivor early from the trial.

    4. Flashlight stun after a pallet throw.

    5. 99 gates so they can go for the save without the collapse.

    6. Sit at the end gate healing.

Some even make cases that teabagging, flashlight clicking is just to get the killers attention and a tactical move.

These are most likely not even everything that survivors are allowed to do and it is on the killer to deal with it. It is on the killer to secure their hooks, to achieve their goals and their blood points... while also ensuring the survivors are able to get their enjoyment. What do the survivors do to ensure my fun as a killer? Loop me around the same three points till their team wins without a single down? Teabag me at every pallet stun? Teabag me at the end gate? Flaunt their DS at the end of the game while body blocking me from getting anyone else? Body blocking me at hooks etc. There is so much survivors do that isn't fun for the killers...

The whole concept of the play fair rules that I see on these forums, in the game chat, etc. Is all about the Survivors guide to being a Killer. Where is the securing the enjoyment for killers? That is your own responsibility! Survivors are just being tactical, smart, efficient... this taught me within a week to ignore the guidelines for killers and just do what is best for my gameplan. My goal is to try and win, not a 1k and if that involves tactics that are not fun for the other side... why is that my problem?

I am currently focusing on unlocking the teachable perks, got Hex: Ruin, Nurses teachables, recently bought bubba so leveling him up to get BBQ, after that I will focus on the plague, etc. It is going to take me a long time to first get the teachables and then level up the killers with them.

In the mean time I am meeting red and purple ranks with full meta builds, hundreds or thousands of hours of play and that is all fine. Yet I am the toxic one... both in victory and loss, regardless of how I play.

If your issue is the matchmaking, putting you up against players FAR out of your league, then no matter what I say, nothing will help you out here.

As for your GOAL, it is to appease the Entity. Check your emblems and see what they say about your performance.

Chats though? The community is it's own worst enemy. Nothing can be done about that.

  • Shroud of Separation on killer and the Shroud of Union on survivor.

Killer: "Hmmmm. Let's have all the survivors separate at the START of the match!" Says the guy who plays a lot of Pig, Doctor and Legion.

Survivor: "Sure. I'll group up everyone so the killer can slap all of us at once! Boy I hope it isn't someone with an instant-down like Bubba!"

Either way. If there's a severe drop in the amount of killers. Then the precious, cosmetic buying survivors can't find a game. We all know those are the people the devs really care about :P

So to keep those customers the devs have to either fix the bugs or think of some other way to get those killers to come back.

Well, yeah. It's why I'm on a campaign to get both sides to respect each other and NOT play with the sole intent of screwing each other over. I also have a feeling that this is being worked on, but there is possibly a lot of complicated issues at work here, not just a small case of accidentally not playing a sound in a specific circumstance and it'll take a bit more time than some players would like.

I might of never faced you before. 99% killers I've seen are super sweaty and tunnel and mori off the hook. Only had 2 nice killers in the past month.

Well, I have played killer far less lately. I'm also pretty focused and intense when I play killer. Might still be seen as sweaty, but I never tunnel or mori, unless I'm running my Devour Deathslinger and nobody's found the totem.

It also depends on region. Like I alluded to earlier, I'm on the Sydney servers in Australia, so it's not always the case that I'll find anyone from the forums in my matches.

In the 4 years since this game started has there been any hint that tiering your characters as survivor or killer has had any actual advantage? Besides the ones we know don't work xD

Some characters with the bloody outfits are harder to spot.

  • Anyway it depends if you're on which East Coast you're on. If it's Aus, then I'm always down for having other people to play with, even if other games are taking up my time at the moment.

  • Hi. I'm a "nice" killer. You don't BM me and I'll respect you.

If someone DC's or something like that, then I may even let you go at the end. But only if you earn it.

  • .................. or just play something else instead until the patch comes out like the rest of us but you do you

  • If you want. Personally I'd be fine with just getting them to level 50 and getting all possible perks on them.

Run iron will sprint burst or iron will deadhead practically the same thing. Also relying on a second healthy state doesnt improve your skill or force you to learn to make less mistakes in chase. That being said run what you like I will do the same.

I play like I have one, even if I have two. Just because I like having the option and the insurance, doesn't mean that I play into it.

  • @GodDamn_Angela said:

"... or I can also go with a perk that has INFINITE USE, and isn't completely negated by a single perk that a killer is likely to bring after seeing at least two other items in the game."

Self-Care doesn't have infinite uses though. The game has a time limit. Self-Care is limited by how much time you actually have. You state you don't take a Med Kit because the Killer might run Franklin's. Which is not that common. But you run Self-Care which is heavily affected by a much more common perk, Sloppy Butcher. A perk that is completely countered by Inner Strength.

I just find it funny that you bring up Franklin's like its an actual deterrent when Sloppy exists in a much more dominant fashion.

Other people can help heal me through Sloppy Butcher even if I have Self-Care, but if I'm running Inner Strength, then I can't.

    @MrLimonka said:

It's not that you're using it, it's HOW you're using it. If you sprint into a corner to self-care each time you're hurt, then that's VERY bad, if you use it reasonably, and prioritize gens over healing, then it's ok.

And believe me, Kindred or Bond is much better for healing purposes. You gain a lot of additional info from these perks and see teammates that can heal you.

And please, don't self-care against sloppy butcher. Just don't.

Well, I have Self-Care and Bond on my old Claudette build, but I'll cover this now while I'm on the topic of Sloppy Butcher. My biggest point of Self-Care is that I can't always rely on teammates, especially in later stages of the game. I won't use Self-Care against Sloppy Butcher where possible but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

You stated it is the killers responsiblity to deal with DS? Just take the loss?

If the survivors present an opportunity to down the same guy again I am not going to say no. I enjoy trying to win the game, I have to deal with survivors stabbing me in the late game, I have to deal with people slamming gens while I chase a guy for 40 seconds... I am not trying to ruin peoples game, I am trying to play my own and trying to win.. it is just a game and people like winning in them? If it isn't toxic for them to go for the most effective way to win, to use DS and such to escape, why is it toxic for me to try and use all the tactics available to me to win?

I am new, I have a limited perks, I am outclassed often enough and totally destroyed in games... yet I don't see the other end give me hooks or kills when they complete 5 gens and all I was able to do was hurt and hit some guys. The red and purple ranks hitting me with their best tactics, slamming gens, running circles with me and with their meta perks... I don't think that they are toxic, but when I use all the tools I have as a killer to try and win... I am toxic.

Isn't my responsibility to deal with DS not exactly the same as putting the responsibility of dealing with tunneling on the survivors?

They can win if I use it in bad situations, they can not unhook people in my face without borrowed time, they can not hide after an unhook and the only guy I find is the one I hooked before, they could present me with another survivor to chase before unhooking.... yeah I tunnel when it seems like my best course of action. Just letting them disappear and hide again seems like a bad move. I leave the hook after I got them on it, I go and kick that gen, I go try and find someone new to chase... but I am not going to be the Nobel noob that just loses because imagine if the other guy didn't have a fun time.

You are here showcasing why a killer should just do them, DS is my responsibility to deal with in the end game... then my tunneling should be the survivors responsibility to deal with, btw. If you try and body block me... I will still hit you, it isn't like I mindlessly chase one person... my goal is to win and there isn't anything toxic about it.

I do enjoy doing well and winning too, but the point is that winning isn't everything. Slugging is also just a good way to apply some pressure in earlier parts of the game, but I wouldn't leave any more than one person on the ground.

If you're new, it all about learning strategies on how to deal with anything the game throws at you. And until otherwise, I assume that everyone has had decent experience with the game until I see a post stating otherwise. Think of it as trying to look at things with a neutral view. When I said that "endgame DS is on you" I meant that as a killer, you essentially let it get to that point. Again, I know you're new now and even then those situations aren't in your control a fair bit of the time, but even still. You CAN control how long people eat dirt and even try to lead them between exit gates.

BTW killers require a lot of each other's perks and which ones are you using currently?

  • @gatsby said:

Yeah. Think about it. How many surprise hits do you actually get from Wraith? He's pretty telegraphed

Killers like Pig and Ghost Face legitimately jump scare me sometimes, Wraith only does with his Iri Add-on

Well, the "surprise" part of his attacks last quite a while. Same with Post-phase Spirit. So technically the answer of "a lot" would be entirely appropriate. As for true jump-scares, like Pig, T-I Myers or GF? Not so much.

Self care actually slow the survivor's game too since most of the survivors now chose to not pick self-care they just don't heal or they use another perk to heal or teammates

Fine point separated from my core point. And arguably no. 2 people for 16 seconds or however long it is, or one for double that.

  • @NoRage said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/discussion/comment/1625356#Comment_1625356

You never said survivors only had DS ? You only stated one perk .

But I did not once use the word "only". We'd also be just arguing fine points about perks like Self-Care technically slowing a killer's game as it gives survivors back a health state.

While I COULD make a full post listing all of this, sometimes just taking the implication is better.

  • @Kalinikta said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/discussion/comment/1624735#Comment_1624735

Same could be said to anyone that is tunneled down. Take the L and move on?

You want people to get rid of DS before the game end stage, they will slam you down and pick you up after a hook, to put you back on it... aren't you now just telling people to tunnel to get rid of your perk charges or accept the consequences.

Killers should play for their own enjoyment, survivors tend to focus on their gameplan and use all the meta perks. There is nothing wrong with a killer doing the same: tunneling, slugging, proxy camping or 3 gen camping if it is in your benefit to do so... go for it.

I never have DS/UB issues. I also despise tunnelling.

Why do I never have those issues? Well, Pig's RBT's help dramatically and my playstyle revolves around going after a new person always, and occasionally slugging for stall.

I also mean what I say and that's that. DON'T put words in my mouth like that. I get it enough from everyone else on here.

As for your problem, that's just solo-queue in general. Although your version is an exaggeration of that experience.

It is RARE to see someone blow up a generator at purple ranks. Hardly any of them bring a torch. If they aren't using Sprint Burst, then there's very little reason to NOT run. And unless they're going a specific challenge, or have RESILIENCE then they'll usually let you heal them.

If someone prioritizes anything else over their teammates or the objective, that's their choice of play. It's scummy but it's not bannable.

It may just be a solo player who decides to just simply NOT be a team player and puts everything into the other player's hands. You can do that and nobody can stop you. If I don't want to save someone from a hook because I'm injured and it will put myself in danger, I'm more than allowed and able to do that.

I use Self-Care because I cannot trust my team to heal me, and I prefer 2 health states over Iron Will.

It's not that I'm not a "team player" or even forsake the objective. I just prefer 2 health states.

So, hi there @AestheticCharms, I'm that rare player with it that does the objective. Probably more than someone like you does by the sound of it. You want to heal me? Fine. I'll let you. But when I'm on my own, I'll just do it myself.

I would love it if they added in ways to torture survivors before killing them, but you can't set fire to them or chop off limbs or even take a moment to tear out an unnecessary organ. The game doesn't give killers much to do. Spine Chill doesn't let stealth killers have fun with jump scares. I can't even spend the whole match entertaining myself with the killer's power because the power either spends most of its time in cool down or the cool down just breaks the flow; either way, I often forget whatever killer I'm playing can do anything other than swing their weapon.

Sticking survivors on hooks is a really boring mechanic, an uninteresting animation made worse by that really loud annoying scream, but even more boring is a slugged survivor crawling around on the ground.

I look forward to the day when there is a game that lets me take on the role of a vicious murderer. Until then, I guess I'm playing DbD.

Well, "torture" in DbD is a little different. Not to mention the outrage over that one GTA scene.

Firstly to the topic, I don't care about ds outside of egc. I don't tunnel or camp and when I get stabbed I eat it and move on (but the earlier the better -.-).

To your comment, what is left beside killing the opposition by now. To torture or terrorize? Survivor stopped being "scared" of the killer in maybe year 2 since this games' release.

I don't feel intimidating or scary when I play killer (only btw). Mostly you feel like the slightly faster fat kid trying to tap someone while playing catch after successfully plying hide and seek.

The immersion as killer is long gone thanks maybe due to the addition of magical immunities to hits and whatnot. But they are necessary to make this game fair since the motive of immersion was slowly replaced with the goal of action.

Atleast that was my impression of the game design at release, to be a playable horror movie from both sides. The survivor had to do everything to hide from the killer to avoid certain death and try to rescue already found survivors. The killer should feel like the all powerful monster from the movies.

But that couldn't work over long-term, so they had to adjustso that the game didn't die in its early stages and we end with the gameplay we have now, which is less horror movie "hide and seek" but more "you're it".

It's not about survivors cacking their pants everything a heartbeat ticks in their ears! It's about appeasing the Entity.

Look at the Emblem system. There is a lot more than just killing survivors. There is keeping them off generators, hurting and chasing them. Not just the kill.

    But killers are forgetting that.

I can go into stealth at will, but it slows my movement down and I can't perform grabs. With Tinkerer on top of Surveillance, I find myself at nearly completed gens quite often, so being able to be stealthy while already standing means I can get there quicker and perform grabs from around corners FAR more reliably, although I don't disagree as a whole.

That said, I don't really use it for the stealth so much as for the info. The stealth is a very nice bonus, though. When it procs in chases and I don't have to crouch to do mindgames it's also nice, but a little more situational.

Oh, believe me nobody knows how detrimental to mobility Pig's stealth ability is better than me. Well, maybe with the exception of Scorpionz. I spend a lot of time down there.

I've also never really thought that with Pig, given the sheer lack of mobility, that a perk like Tinkerer wouldn't be all that great. Especially if the generator is across the map.

  • Personally I wouldn't have thought TINKERER on a STEALTH killer, who can cancel their TR virtually at will.

Maybe Dragon's Grip might also be a good pick if you're going Surveillance/Ruin instead of Tinkerer.

Personally, I use Ruin/Surveillance/Nurse's/BBq on my Pig.

DS isn´t even that great most of the time tbh. As survivor I get to use it rather rarely, and it´s even rarer for me to get hit by it as Killer.

As it stands now I think it´s mostly fine. The mechanic it provides is actually quite healthy for the game since it acts as a deterrant for the Killer not to "tunnel" too hard. Remember, Survivors wanna have fun too!

However, it becomes problematic if it´s stacked with Unbreakable and other so called "2nd chance perks". The synergy of the common survivor build is too strong imo, especially if several or all 4 survivors have those stacked.

I wish more people came to this conclusion - you can´t really compare the roles, they´re so vastly different DBD is 2 games in 1.

Thank you for that. I knew that my thread about it would reach someone.

And you're right too about DS. It's a perk that a majority if survivors equip with the hopes of never using it. Same with Unbreakable. Those that do want to use them and force the situations are as bad as the killers who slug everyone and tunnel survivors because they "have" to kill.

Some killers can't do that, neither can some survivors, having played both sides it's very equal treatment.

I've been there too. I play both sides as well.

If I get DS'd, I might get annoyed since I never tunnel anyone. But that's where it ends. I'm even GLAD to eat it if they run straight at me since it's no longer a problem.

I do, though, feel sorry for the killers that have these perks abused against them without provocation. It does suck and brings down the community.

Idk if that is quite fair.

Ruin isn't that great anymore, it's more a nuisance.

PGTW is a god-tier perk but it rewards you for hooking Survivors (your objective.) It doesn't reward the Killer with passive pressure or for losing.

    Thana isn't good.

Dying Light is alright. Really good at near max stacks, but it won't help you win games, it'll just help you win harder, if that makes sense.

    Sloppy is good.

Surge would be good without the cooldown. As it stands it's pretty meh.

Anyway, the point is, that if you look at the Devs reasons for nerfing Ruin and apply it to DS, DS should've been nerfed a long time ago.

Well, I never said they were GOOD perks......

But my point still stands. Both sides have perks who's sole objective is to slow the game of the other side. Be it beneficial to the user or detrimental to the opposing side.
