I'm sure this is not a new experience for many people since SBMM was implemented, but there have been a drastic increase in the amount of face camping and genuine tunneling killers I have gotten. SWF or solo queue, it really seems like every game. Before SBMM, it was once in every 10 games, it really wasn't that big of a deal to me. Now, it is literally every single game. I've started taking screenshots and posting them in my discord when I get face camped. It doesn't matter what perks I run. It doesn't matter what I do. Decisive strike, borrowed time, unbreakable, soul guard, dead hard, sprint burst, flashlight, no flashlight, medkit, toolbox. It genuinely does not matter: someone on my team or myself gets face camped to death or tunneled to death. I mean genuine tunneling. Like, going out of your way to not hit other survivors tunneling. Waiting out for BT tunneling. It's not even like these killers are getting "genrushed", they are genuinely face camping at 5 or 4 gens left. What is the big deal? I play killer a LOT, I have probably 2,000 matches on Huntress. I have NEVER played like this. Then they complain about their queue times going up. Do you understand that you are the problem? People complaining are the ones contributing to the issue. No one wants to play survivor when they get face camped every game. No one wants to play survivor when they get tunneled at 5 generators for no reason. My friends and I have contemplated just straight up quitting the game when we've all dedicated 2k+ hours into it. The better question is: why have the devs not addressed it? There's NO way they don't know what's going on. There's NO way they haven't been reading forum posts. I want answers because this is absolutely ridiculous. This game is rapidly going downhill because 50% of the playerbase wants to play like animals. Playing to win =/= playing like a jackass.
Welcome to the reality of DBD's balance. Any time killers are pressured and forced into the dogshit that is red ranked play (and I mean actual red ranked play not the previous boosted ass survivor with a red 1 by their name, you can no longer be a boosted survivor) you start to realize just how imbalanced this game is. So all those "MR NICE GUY" strategies and that made up bullshit fake rule book survivors like to tote around, goes out the ######### window. Camping and tunneling are back on the menu when the pressure is this high.
Now me as a killer player, I think its gross, and actually enjoy some of that "Mr Nice Guy" rule set. But also me as a killer player, I 1000% understand exactly why so many killers are doing it. And I'm not even mad at it, given this games stances on balance and leaving things unfavorable for so god damn long and being lazy enough to only look at "IMPERICAL DATA!" Instead of look at what the players are actually experiencing since WE ARE NOT ROBOTS, EVERY GAME, AND KILLER, AND PLAYER, ARE DIFFERENT!
Its hard to play the "NICE GUY" game when the odds are stacked against you so high.
-
"A) The perks are, of course, useful- but they don't want to make it something they absolutely have to equip constantly. And if people are feeling forced into generator slowdown perks, then it's not good for the game and something needs to be done."
Yeah you guys are like....a year and some change late to this one, cause we've already started the mandatory Thano+Dying or Ruin+Tinker or Ruin+Undying. Yall are late. Any killer who doesn't already have built in slow, or some godlike mobility, this is pretty much required at high ranks if you wanna get any more than 2 kills.

So. It would be better to hit them not at all because that’s somehow taking away health states? Also breaking pallets is another effect of the tentacle that shortens the chase time etc.
sorry but at least try to be reasonable instead of crying and screaming. I already said he could use some buffs and he is not perfect. But he is not THAT bad especially compared to other lower tier killers.
Hitting them at the pallet doesn't shorten the chase time, they had to be infected for you to down them in the first place what part of that do you not get? You had to already hit them with a tentacle, thats strike 1, you had to either M1 them or hit them with another tentacle to actually make them drop a health state after that, thats strike 2, you then have to either M1 them again, or tentacle them again to actually down them, THATS STRIKE 3. And you have to do that across 4 survivors each who get a chance to fully wipe the T-virus out with vaccines, adding a grand total of 8 HEALTH STATES 2 FREE STATES PER SURVIVOR. And on top of that you CANNOT hit a survivor with a tentacle and break a pallet at the same time.
And you are right, that doesn't make him THAT bad compared to other lower tier killers.....right....it makes him the worst.... /slowclap

You are still ignoring the fact that you can hit pretty easily over pallets and vaults without much wind up (which Huntress has) you should not always go for tentacle hits, that’s why your numbers just don’t make sense.
My numbers are based on your ability TO HIT OVER THOSE PALLETS THAT YOU KEEP BRAGGING ABOUT, WHICH IN ORDER TO DO YOU HAVE TO USE YOUR TENTACLE WHICH ADDS HEALTH STATES TO SURVIVORS ITS NOT EVEN MATH ITS LITERAL CAUSE AND EFFECT!
If you use your power FOR ANY REASON, AAAAAAAANY REASON! If its to hit people over pallets or break pallets or hit people through windows, etc YOU ARE GIVING THEM FREE HEALTH STATES AND A SPRINT BURST <---Nobody in the entire roster does that...NOBODY.
What you think is a win because you got a free hit with a tentacle is a false win, you didn't actually make them any less effective from the hit. In order to down AAAAAAAAANY survivor with your tentacle from ANY hit, they need to be infected....in order to get them infected, you need to hit them with your tentacle.....SO IN ORDER FOR THOSE NO SCOPE PALLET HITS TO WORK, YOU NEED TO ALREADY GIVE THEM A FREE HEALTH STATE FROM A TENTACLE HIT IN THE FIRST PLACE!

Can’t believe some people on this thread calling Nemesis a bad killer. It sucks to have to hit survivor’s 3 times but he has strengths in other areas.
His zombies provide him with passive pressure (when they work), provide hints to a survivor’s location and they can trap survivors in a loop if they get unlucky. Personally I like to run Ink ribbon & Mikhail’s eye to boost their movement speed.
Nemesis can shred through pallets easily. After breaking a pallet you still have some movement speed during recovery so you lose less distance compared to having to break the pallet via space bar. If you predict right you can break the pallet as soon as it has been pulled down, which gives the survivor less distance.
Not to mention his power allows him to hit survivor’s over obstacles or when they are locked in an animation. Meaning they may try to mindgame with windows which can lead to a hit if you guess correctly.
Once you get to tier 3 the movement speed penalty for holding the whip is -15%, meaning it reduces you to survivor’s movement speed. So you can mindgame with the whip while only losing a little distance.
"It sucks to have to hit survivors 3 times but he has strengths in other areas."
None of those other areas are important when you're still the least lethal killer out. And its not just a hit, its a hit and a sprint burst, ITS ADDING ANOTHER CHASE TIMER TO YOUR ALREADY LONG CHASES! Bruh wh....do you guys even play killer?

@Jasix said:
Pssst Doctor says hello. His power (Shock therapy) increases madness by .5 each hit. So it takes 6 Shock therapy hits to get a survivor to tier 3 madness - which even then does not injure the survivor it only stops them performing certain actions - healing, gens, totems, etc.
Doctor is an M1 killer, his power adds nothing to the chase (but muh canceled pallets) you can do that without madness... or hitting people repeatedly.
On average though Doctor still downs people faster than nemesis. Even plague downs people faster than nemesis.....and trickster, and they both have to hit people multiple times mid chase and have far more range. When it comes to injuring survivors or downing them, nemesis is the worst on the roster hands down. You can't utilize expose from it, can't franklins from it, can't sloppy butcher with it, and there aren't even any add ons to reduce that 32 health state limit he has hanging over his head should you actually decide to use his power in a match...

Use M1 and voila, no punishment.
and you are disregarding any positive effect the tentacle attack might have as well as zombies.
people are arguing that Legion, Pinhead and Trickster (probably others as well) are ‚punished‘ by using their power; so that’s not a great argument to make that he is the only one. Anyways, all powers have up and downsides and situations where it’s better to use M1. And I actually agree that those killers I mentioned as well as Nemesis could use some kind of buff, I never said they are perfectly implemented. I am not delusional. But it seems some people here indeed are.
Pinhead isn't punished by using his power, he's punished by missing and misusing his power. Trickster has a sub machine gun that doesn't require many hits at all considering how many bullets you're firing per second. And Legions power removes a health state as soon as you start a chase.
None of those killers have 32 health states to contend with due to the T-virus they all have 24. Nemesis is the only character in the game with that many health states per game to contend with on top of 12 hooks.
And if you only M1 then theres no point to even having his power. At that point he's just a wraith with no stealth. If you want to use his power, you have to add on 8 health states to the total game, MINIMUM. No other killer does that regardless of how punishing the misuse of their power is. Nemesis gets punished from using his power correctly unlike the rest of the roster. And what makes it pour even more salt in the wound, he's not even on the level of Nurse, Spirit, and Blight. So he has no mobility, gives survivors free sprint bursts on top of old school mettle of man everytime he uses his whip....
"But muh zombies"
The AI is still trash, they still get stuck, and if you have to use them for tracking you could have just used anything else. And he still performs the weakest in red ranks even compared to trapper....who is the most basic M1 killer you could possibly play.
So do please inhale more dubious amounts of copium pretending he's strong so BHVR can pad their wallets by selling a dud....
-
@Mooks said:
Actually Nemesis can down survivors in two hits like everyone else
or did. you just mean his power? Because that has other factors than just downing. Keep in mind there are other powers that are not able to down survivors at all..
He is the only killer in the game that punishes your overall needed strikes in a game by using your power....the only killer in the game who is actually punished for using his power. Setting himself up for a minimum of 32 health states instead of 24 like other killers. There's no excuse for it. BHVR is just bad at balancing the game and use rank 20 input to gauge how powerful something is....

Franklin's Demise makes survivors drop their currently held item, the Lament Configuration just happens to be an item. Then, being in range of the Lament Configuration while it's on the ground causes Pinhead to pick it up automatically.
This isn't an interaction with his power, just a happy accident.
Its intentional we already went over it on PTB.
This thread is potato's.

Its not because of pinhead. SBMM lowers your pool to queue from.

On the weaker side if you don't focus down the box, bit stronger if you defend the box.
Also he gets completly cucked of hits if people run deadhard, again maybe it was lag/bugs but lots of people deadhard when chained which makes the power a waste of time on basically any decent surv because everyone and their mothers runs it.
he can cancel dead hard with chains btw

You are correct. He deserves more, how anyone could possibly think he is powerful is beyond me.
He is powerful, he just has a learning curve similar to nurses. With the whole chain aim mechanic, which tbh is pretty brilliant since we haven't had a high skill cap killer in a long time. When they flesh out his issues, then the god Pinheads will come out, I can promise you that. He will be S tier if they fix some of his kit.

Okay, this might just be me and having some Internet drop but does anyone else notice that the moment the clock hits 12:00, DBD will give you a HORRIBLE FPS and your ping will spike through the roof? I had to close DBD as the match just started and lose out on a potentially fun game because my FPS/Ping was so high it wasn't even funny. I've never EVER had 1000ms+ but somehow I was running on a constant 1000 - 1020 the moment the clock hit 12.
Like everyone else, i'm always below 50MS so, again, this might just be me but is this like A DBD problem?
this sounds like something that should be tested out since it should be replicatable by just looking at the clock and being in a game.

I'll say just because people seem like a swf doesn't mean they are I feel like that's the scapegoat for alot of killers these days, Tru3 is really bad about automatically assuming swf when he has no way of knowing that, they could just be four skilled randoms that know when to take pressure off of their teammates and do gens efficiently
We can tell when it loads your group into the game. Solo players almost always show up separately. And depending on your ping, duo queues will drop into the match separate as well. 4 man SWF's pretty much always drop in at the same time, again depending on your ping. On top of that SWF's tend to do goofy ######### like name themselves
BigBootyClaudette, BigBootyJake, BigBootyDavid, followed by BigBootySteve <---we get it guys....you're all queued together and friends...

First I assume only the Killers that are here by their own volition. Like Pyramid Head, and Pinhead. Heck Pyramid Head was asked to come, and then accepted to join, we don't know if the Entity was strong enough to force him, or if Pyramid Head was strong enough to force himself in.
However it never mentions how Pinheads box appeared in the entity's realm, and based on Cenobite lore they themselves can just send their box (or artifact) into any dimension (realm) - often randomly. Pinhead could very well be stronger than the entity. However if they would fight each other is a better question, as Pinhead specifically is just a Sadist and wants to cause pain and suffering, and the entity feeds off that so it's more like a mutual symbiosis situation.
You know now that I think about it....theres a chance that the Nemesis Virus could infect the entity. Since the entity is just 1 big bundle and network of physical cells tied into a physical dimension. Theres a chance those cells surrounding hooks and blighted pods could be infected with the Virus.
sub note, the inspiration for the entity.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8aJw4chksqMSecondary side note....
You know whats tragic about this game, is the fact that they have some decent lore to make an actual decent horror game. If they weren't so obsessed with turning this god damn game into a ######### moba they'd have a real jewel on their hands able to withstand the test of time.

No, he's definitely weak.
Escaping from his chains is laughably easy, and I think a Pinhead has only ever gotten a hit from his chains twice with them in the now upwards of 10 games I've played against him.
I also find his Box incredibly easy to handle. Go to a safe loop, or even better an incline of some kind. Chances are if Pinhead teleports, he'll be on the outside of the loop or down a flight of stairs.
^ This, this is a low key problem nobody ever mentions. His teleport is ass. There have been times I've teleported to a person and been downstairs outside of the building, even though I KNOW I saw the notification pop up on the second floor....
Not to mention this games maps are ass. You can actually put his hooks under the map and grab people from underground in certain areas.......

I care about it because it's a game I've dedicated a lot of my time to. I want it to better to its audience, but in my opinion, that means more effort put into the actual game and optimization. I don't give a single ######### about balance. I'm not butthurt at all, actually. Like I already said, I am just genuinely confused.
In your original post, you say
"Show whos in swfs so im not constantly facing them."
So you want killers to be able to see who's in a survive with friends so you, and other players, can avoid them. This would punish them for using a feature that is in the game. Your original post is all about complaining about SWF and the fact that you have to play against them because a good portion of them are sweaty. And no, they aren't different. You're asking to see SWF which is a 'built in aspect' of the game. You can literally invite people from the Survivor lobby. SWF is just as built-in as Killers are.
I don't play in SWF, and the very rare times I do it's with one single friend, and we play it only to ######### around. I play Killer 65% of the time, and the other 35% is Solo queue.
I think they should lock Survivor items past a certain threshold, but that isn't at all involved in the conversation.
You're asking to be able to avoid survivor groups you don't want to play against.
I'm saying that if that happens, the inverse also has to happen- Survivors don't have to go against Killer's they don't want to. Both are terrible ideas.
Is there a portion of SWF's who break the game? Yes. Does that mean we punish everybody that uses the system? No. That's foolish.
It isn't just a portion man, yall keep inhaling this copium like everything is fine....everybody knows damn well what kind of information an SWF gives. And everybody knows how powerful that information is, and everybody knows what parts of the game you can break with said information. That same information is so powerful it comes in the form of perks that have cooldowns and requirements. With SWF you don't have a cooldown, and said information IS INFINITE!!!!!!

Just stop caring so much about it.
I mean people know this. But it doesn't make their stance right. Its basically them saying "We're not going to balance this game or any aspect of it even though we know it breaks the core gameplay loop" That right there should be enough to quit. But people don't because they've inhaled dubious amounts of Copium to think that one day they will.....

I can literally just look pre-game as it is.
I had 6 4 man's today out of about 13 matches.
NGL this is probably the most premade SWF's I've ever faced in this game. And I dunno if I'm just getting the same people over and over again....but its weird as [BAD WORD]. Before SBMM I would maybe get like 1 out of 4 matches as an SWF. Post SBMM every other match is a god damn show. Its crazy cause I've never been one to sweat. I don't like doing it. In fact I'm used to giving people hatches that I notice are actually performing. But these matches its just the same like....12 [BAD WORD] people gen rushing and running straight to a god pallet.
Also BHVR you need to fix your description of SBMM cause it doesn't give you different matchups based on which killer you're playing. I'm an absolutely horrid nurse, the babiest of the babies, and it still put me in the same lobbies I was in on my pig......

I was always really hesitant to play killer given how lopsided matches could be for a casual player like myself, especially if I'm playing a killer I've never played before. I play at the top of the top....every damn game has been damn near a tournament. At least every other match. Can't speak for anybody else, but the bleeding edge players are taking advantage. NGL I kinda miss the chaos of solo survivors.

They will never do anything to swf. It's not about growing a pair, its about money. Behaviour is a business that has employees that want to be able to feed their families. If they forced swf in a separate queue only the best of killers who relish a real challenge would want to face them, meaning very long queue times for the swf. It would kill the game since people would rather move on to a different game where they can play with their friends.
They just need to make some adjustments that gives solo some of the info that swf have, such as base-kit kindred that doesn't show the killers aura so survivors know whether or not to go for a save. I think making Self Care as base kit would also help since it would free up a perk for survivors and maybe let them bring in Botany to help solo not stagnate. BT would be nice too since there are lots of tunneling killers, and even though I don't blame them for doing it, it isn't fun on the receiving end. They would just have to buff killers around the changes they do for solo survivors at the same time.
Unfortunately, the devs are averse to making perks base kit, probably because they don't want to do more balancing than they have to and because they'd have to come up with new perks that would replace the base kit ones.
If they don't wanna balance the game they shouldn't have any skill based or preferential queue system at all....cause at the end of the day you either put the pressure on the players and have them deal with a busted game, or put the pressure on yourself to have a prestine product.

Yes, FOR YOU.
Not every optimal team is a swf, which I think most people mistake that for.
My mmr is extremely high for my huntress and I've been getting optimal teams and very good swfs.
It still is rare but agree to disagree cause you clearly don't see my point.
My matches have been just about the same, and I'd wager its been the same for every red rank killer probably more so now since a lot of red rank killers are being pulled up into the hellhole known as red. The times I've had a solo in my match I can almost smell it in the air. But SWF squads have been the norm since SBMM came on and before SBMM. Like...literally every other match. Its not rare....even before SBMM it wasn't rare. If you played up to R1 and stayed there you get about 3/4 games SWF squads instead of solos depending on the day of the week. Weekends its almost 4/4 matches of SWF.
-
@Reinami said:
Nerfing SWF is not the answer, because solo queue still sucks for survivors. The answer is to buff solo queue survivors (by giving them more information and ways to communicate) then to buff killers or nerf survivors as a whole in terms of gen speed/chase time ratio. Ideally by reducing (yes reducing) the time it takes to repair a generator for less holding m1 and giving survivors some sort of secondary objective that is required to be done to progress the game, that leads to a net INCREASE in the amount of time they have to do things before they are able to escape.
Problem....anything you do to buff solo survivor gameplay inadvertently buffs SWF even higher....You can't win by treating them the same way because they're in the same queue system.
Also....you guys gotta get over the "We gotta treat Solo and SWF the same!" That literally does not happen in any other game that has queues. If you play league of legends ranked solo...you are not even CLOSE to the same matchups that you would get if you group queue. And they run them separate for that reason.
-
@Huge_Bush said:
They'd have to remove all exposed effects from killer powers and perks.
Games would probably end faster and become very miserable for solo survivors.
Camping and tunneling would increase due to lazy killers wanting to get someone out asap. The devs would have to figure out a way to prevent it completely and I don't have faith any solution they come up with would work, rather, it would make the game break once again.
I'd rather they just balance maps and make them fair for both sides. That is really the biggest issue with the game. Heck, I'd go so far as to make BT basekit as long as killers get something as well. BT is enough to discourage tunneling and encourage survivors to rescue.
The problem with this game will always have SWF vs solo hanging over its head. Anything that they decide to balance for the sake of keeping SWF in check....COMPLETELY SCREWS OVER Solo survivors. Until they actually grow a pair and separate those queues, its gonna be a problem...

1)Maps dont need to be shortened
2)gens dont need to be modded
3) heck even a second objective isnt needed.
2 hooks and a survivor is gone there is your sbmm balance. Add the third hook time to the two hooks. Moris are disabled...they are trash right now anyway.
Fix camping and tunneling around that change.
8 hooks instead of 12? Ehh, I mean it would make Nemesis less of a pain in the ass to play at red ranks, him and his god damn 32 health states to win a game instead of 24 is actually toxic....
I also agree....mori's are pretty much useless outside of the flashy fatality style artwork.

So we all know DBD and it hasnt changed since release. Genrush is a real Problem and everyone complains about it. Killer mains that it is too ez to rush gens and Survivor mains arguing. iTs tHe oBjEcTiVe!!! Nobody cares genrush just frustrates every Killer. So we need to chance that whether Slowing gen progress, add more gens to be done or even more than just gens. I would say we need survivors to do more objectives to escape the trial and punish Toxicity because THAT is the only reason why DBD is a Horror Game just the Community is Horror nothing else. Survivors should do more than just gens and Exit gates.
So we have to get the devs to give us more Gameplay other than hunt and Hook or do gens and be a B*itch at Gates. Same goes for killers who tunnel or camp for no reason thats disgusting. We need more modes like a singleplayer a STORY and a 2 Killer 8 survivor mode its not easy and yes it can be frustrating to program that but it will be a nice addition to DBD since we got bots and tutorials we should also get a singleplayer option with story sequences and everything that would be awesome
Genrush thing has been building up for years. They posted a few years back that they don't wanna directly increase gen times or do anything like that. AKA only balancing for casual matches. Don't think its ever gonna get changed. Had a few games yesterday on my blendette, ran the killer through maybe 3-4 pallets, I look around theres 1 gen left, I get almost no objective points after trying to sit on a gen for what was maybe 10 seconds.....its bullshit....

Posts are irrelevant. People are biased, numbers are not. Look at the completely different viewpoints between survivor mains and killer mains. Who should they trust? You are clearly a killer main, so your opinion is skewed in that direction, and is not objective. The same with survivor mains. One side says that something needs to be change, and the other side says that it is fine as it is. Who is right? Even for those of us that play both sides, we will have biases based on our own experiences and preferences, so even some of our opinion will be subjective, no matter how objective we try to be. Numbers are completely objective. The problem has been that their numbers were based off of faulty data, and that's what they were using to determine what they felt were the "truths". If the new system works properly, they should start seeing more accurate data, and see where the problems really lie, especially at the highest ranks. If certain killers can't compete at the same level as others, it should become obvious. If killers, in general, can't compete with survivors because the game mechanics favor survivors, it will show in the numbers.
This goes under the assumption that everybody who plays killer is going to downright lie in order to get stronger. Thats bullshit, everybody knows its bullshit. But you guys keep playing this "them vs us" thing falling into the bullshit over and over again. It isn't just killers noticing things are broken, survivors make the same posts, again...nothing changes. And it isn't like they never had any data to go off of. AT THE HIGHEST RANKS community members have noticed whats busted, and whats not for years....but they don't listen to our posts. They'd rather go look at an excel spread sheet than listen to people who've put thousands of hours in.
We have big long form discussions about this on and off the forums. Again, it took them ages to even acknowledge that the collision issue with freddy even existed. And even longer to re-do his kit....WHEN WE KNEW IT WAS POSSIBLE FROM DAY 1. "Hey when is wraith gonna get any love" I could pull up at least 100 of those posts from before his rework. The twins, again FROM ALL RANKS BOTH SURVIVOR AND KILLER knew her kit was gonna be trash and need fixing out of the gate. We sat there complaining about infinites as soon as it was found out you could exploit them. Took them years to fix that and then bandaid some BS with entity blockers....
Gen speeds getting wild at top ranks? Meh still an issue and still ignored.
Killers being skill capped instead of releasing to be viable at red ranks? Nope still ignored and killers still come out Trash tier and people inhale dubious amounts of copium to say they aren't but then you throw that same person into an all red match and they fold. "Oh damn I didn't know it was this break neck up here"
Survivors having perks and flashlights that either bug out or don't work? Oh here's BHVR's idea lets just make flashlights wobble...for what tho?
Killers still having add ons that literally do nothing beneficial? Crickets.
The nerfing of killers who can actually perform at red ranks instead of buffing the weak ones? Crickets.
Separating Queues and buffing solo survivor so that you're not required to be in an SWF to perform at red ranks? Crickets, again been complaining about SWF vs solo for years, not a damn thing changes and solo survivor is about the worst its ever been.
But yeah keep thinking posts are irrelevant, you'd be a good employee at BHVR since they don't pay attention to whats going on either. Better yet a job at Turtle Rock since they stayed tonedeaf so long they had to shut down Evolve. Gonna come back 3 months from now after they've "analyzed the data" to figure out "oh damn....our top players were right...woops"

As @Bloodshade said. It would make it way too easy to constantly start chain hunts, the survivors would not be able to do anything.
I mean the alternative is the survivors walk around with the box preventing the hunt like they currently do. And you can't see them or the box unless they decide to actually try to fix it....
Chain hunts activate and have a cooldown, I'd rather see them activate than not activate at all the entire match....

Just a quick question right now i am fine with using hag and wraith until high sbmm says no more.
I'd quit and go play Evolve Stage 2 cause this game has too many nerfs.
Oh wait....

We don't really know the exact reasoning but if it is because the license holder(s) didn't like the memes (which it seems like it might be), that's a pretty ridiculous reason IMO.
Like you said, BHVR should definitely have more say in these matters.
It could possibly be a licensing issue. The voice line used wasn't even in the actual film. Now I'm no lawyer, but I would imagine there be some exact specifics and copywrite issues if you change something that was in a script through a license agreement. I dunno...but I'm pretty sure there would be some legal mumbo jumbo in regards to what can and can't be used within a copywritten script or work.

Grind is why you play. You won't play if there's no new content to Grind for. Why do you think everyone comes back to DbD when new content launches? Cause it's new content to Grind, you will want the new perks on all the other characters.
Thats not new content to grind for, especially when you get it at level 1. People don't play this game to grind for perks, this isn't some korean mmo. They play this game because the gameplay loop of killer vs survivor is fun. Having the extra stuff impede upon that is just an extra annoyance.

Well, they've got to do something. At this point, I'm not sure that just making it random wouldn't be an improvement. Seems like it doesn't work well not matter what they do and as you've mentioned, there is vociferous bitching no matter what happens.
I'm just waiting for the 13th, at least, when the grade symbols will lose even the visual connection with the old system (red symbols now still tacitly showing where a player was before the MMR was put in).
It's not beyond possibility that there are all kinds of weird things not working as designed, so who knows. At this point, I'm personally just throwing my hands up as it's a communication nightmare and there's really no way to calm people down about it.
It shouldn't really be in the communities hands to calm down a mishap. If they want SBMM sure, they can have it. But in order for any balanced match making system to work the game has to be inherently balanced to begin with. And as slow as BHVR are with pushing out balance patches or fixing run down ass killers its not gonna happen soon enough before the damage of SBMM is done. If you push a matchmaking system in a game that isn't balanced the damage to your playerbase will end up permanent. Without the patches to fix whats broken or weak, it'll just bleed out players before you have time to fix anything.

Behavior does not take weeks to do things. They take months, and for those we are lucky if they do a slight numbers tweak, or change 1 or 2 perks. The problems here are systemic, not something they will fix in weeks. Look at keys, they promised a rework for those a year ago at this point. Where is that at?
I remember them saying they'd rework totems years ago....never really happened. They just changed which areas totems spawn in, and made the lighting janky enough so if you're not paying attention you might miss it. Which would work great, if it was actually hard to see. Even with killers reduced eyesight you can see across maps no problem.

You need to let it run for more than a couple of days. It needs to average out. Until then you will have good games and bad games. Eventually, you should start seeing more consistent games. The top tier is where any major issues between survivors and killers will really show, and the differences between the different killers. Hopefully that will give the devs better data to work with, for balancing the game. Let it do its work.
What more data do they need than when we make post after post about whats broken? And it still doesn't get fixed, they don't listen. Nemesis has had issues since launch, clear, and GLARING issues, they don't fix it and don't listen. Pinhead had glaring issues on PTB, things that could be abused, they didn't get changed. The twins, had and still do have issues with their kit, nothing changes. Tricksters kit has had and still does have problems be it add ons or otherwise, nothing truly changes. It took wraith LITERALLY YEARS to reach a viable level, despite people saying what his issues were over and over again. Freddy was able to be exploited FOR YEARS before they finally redid his kit. They don't listen, and they don't make changes fast enough to meet up with their next killer release time after time. By the time they actually fix all the sub Top 3 killers add ons and perks and overall power abilities there will be another 12+ killers released half assedly they'll have to fix yet again.

Equal skill would be great, if all the killers had equal combat ability. But they don't. So only the top 3 get played because the rest are all missing 1 thing or another thats vital to your ability to succeed.

I don't have an answer to that, I'm afraid.
This is bummy for the people who spent money on this expecting one thing and then getting another...

@Sypherpathic said:
I'm not sure I agree. If killers go down to MMR survivors who are theoretically below them, but those survivors aren't much below them, it might encourage improvement. Same in the other direction.
Your assumptions seem to assume that failing a top level opponent, the MMR will match players with the bottom of the opposite side. My understanding would be that they would match against players who are just a little lower, thus perhaps fostering improvement.
Maybe I'm just too optimistic.
Encourage improvement? Have you seen this community? Its probably the whiniest cry baby group for a game you could ever see in your life. People don't try to improve in this game. They just go on the forums and whine until something gets nerfed. And the devs in that regard couldn't balance a check book let alone this game. Having an actual ranked match making system in an environment like this is just asking for the axe....
-
@Veinslay said:
I believe they're doing it so players can't figure out how to manipulate their MMR to bully less skilled players. Some people believe it's because they haven't actually made a new system, and it's all a placebo.
I got 50 bucks on placebo, place your bets

My only issue with NOED is that other survivors don't cleanse totems. It's not hard to know where the spawn areas are.
Then you rush out of the gate like a bat on fire flew up your buttcheeks problem solved.

Dumb....they should have kept the line original to the movie and not swapped it around. At least the chatterer has his chompy teeth.

I would disagree, mainly because the addon removes any kind of 'mindgaming' when it comes to chases involving the Wraith.
Think about it, a lot of wraiths these days spend as much time as possible in cloak to take full advantage of the mobility and the post-uncloak speed boost. Paired with the addon, the wraith has insane information during a chase and can almost never be mindgamed or psyched out. It's like I'm all ears on crack basically
This addon's downside used to be that if you ran it, you only had 1 slot available for other addons like windstorm, shadow dance, swift hunt and so on
I also don't think the fact stealth becomes unviable is that fair, Blight had an addon similar to this and it was nerfed to be a bit more fair. Rightly so if you ask me
Do survivors not use their ears? You can hear this idiot thumping and grunting like 15 meters away....

Yeah I'm so excited to play Silent hill Survive or Silent Hill the pachinko machine. Twisted Metal may not be the big name it once was. Being a console Exclusive does that to you when your Publisher kinda abandons you. And this ain't about what Sony wants, they're exclusives are honest to god Trash now. Except Spider-Man. Lots of folks Remember Twisted Metal like they remember The glory days of Resident Evil and Silent Hill. Just because something isn't Relevant right now doesn't mean people don't like it. I mean Silent Hill hasn't been relevant since P.T. and we all know what happened. And it got added out of the Blue into DBD. I'm not even asking for a whole damn chapter I just want a skin for Clown.
I mean....maybe. But what makes you think BHVR will risk the investment in the license if the profit isn't guaranteed? If the sales of that 1 skin are as bad as the games current sales which for the last half of the games life only made up 5% of its overall reach.....if only 5% of the DBD player base even know ######### twisted metal is anymore, and only a fraction of that fraction own clown, and then a fraction of that fraction "MIGHT" buy the skin....the question is would it even recoup the money spent on development cost and the license fees themselves? Plus if the deal isn't BHVR getting paid from it its BHVR paying and thats a risk NET loss....
If I was being generous and gave BHVR 50,000 concurrent players, they might only get back like 6000$ from a skin like that on the first day of sales....and thats HOPING that 5% of the player base Knows what twisted metal is, knows anything about the character, owns clown, and is then willing to buy the skin <----Thats a lot of what if pre-requisites for a franchise thats no longer relevant. You'd have better luck pitching a full chapter, at least then you could maybe garner purchases from people who may not even know ######### he is, but at least would be interested in a new killer just for the sake of it being a new killer.
And I dunno where you get this idea that Silent Hill is a dead license or series. Just because Konami went through legal issues with Kojima does not mean that their golden goose still doesn't lay eggs. Just because Konami doesn't lay down its 10 million Unit first day release game with Silent Hill...doesn't mean they don't have it in the bag. Considering Jaffe and his closed studios, Sony's unwillingness to invest since the flops, and the general barring of the game from certain regions.....the comparison isn't even close. Konami could say "We've had hidden code done for Silent Hill PT for years and we're dropping the complete game in 2 weeks" They'd cash in so hard it would make your head spin just because of the amount of people chomping at the bit for a new release, on top of horror fans in general. In comparison if Jaffe and Sony worked something out and said "Hey, PS5 Twisted metal drops in 2 weeks".....I can't honestly say it would even break a million sold.....the anticipation isn't there, the fan base isn't there and have largely left and moved on to greener pastures. I don't even think niche destruction derby nerds would pick it up..... Now if this was 2001 and you said Boom Twisted Metal in DBD!!! Oh hell yeah....thats guaranteed dosh. But twisted metal has been mishandled and it started being mishandled after its initial release on the PS1. I remember it vividly because I was beta and QA testing for Twisted Metal 2 and 3 before they came out.
The budget went to hell after 2, the code that was coming out of the studio got more and more hot garbage. And players as a whole started to hate the series because it just wasn't pushed. It was dubbed too violent, or too dark, while at the same time appearing in every wal-mart and game stop bargain bin for 20 dollars.....if it even appeared at all. On top of that Devs not listening to player concerns, aaaaand devs not patching fixes into the game made for a poor game. And it isn't like the trend just started with PS3. That studio has been like that since Twisted Metal 2, always rushed, even after bugs would get found from QA, they rushed twisted metal out as if it was one of the EA studio sports franchises. It sucked....HARD. Could it be salvaged? Maybe...and thats a big maybe. But the first step to salvage anything related to twisted metal is to get it out of the hands of Sony point blank period. After that, let an indy studio lead by the old director actually come out with a game thats edgy and has a worthwhile gameplay loop.

Silent Hill is also a dead in the water I.P. Yet it's in DBD. Twisted Metal is forever.
Silent Hills latest game came out in 2012, they have a movie franchise to develop and 2 more games coming soon and a strong 10million+ Units sold within the franchise.
The Twisted Metal franchise has been largely dead since the early 2000's with their latest game that released in 2012 to a measily 400,000 in sales GLOBALLY....which is so pitiful its actually kinda sad considering accessibility at the time. Tac on the fact that its marginal sales don't increase its visibility worldwide, 3 canceled games, a canceled movie and a sketchy canceled low budget TV/HBO show and you can pretty much wrap it up.....
Not only is it dead....its so dead, that Jaffe would probably have to pay BHVR to utilize the content. Considering the Networth of BHVR as a whole....Jaffe buying in would be equivalent to paid promo at that point....as if the license needed anymore embarrassment. Sony doesn't even have any current plans of putting the license back up for a PS5 title despite the rumors of, and they scrapped it during the release of PS4. Which isn't usually a thing Sony would do to twisted metal since its been a staple release for early gen consoles every time. But considering how trash the game is received globally, and considering the falling sales since the PS3....They're probably in a hurry to ditch the IP....
Hate to say it, but twisted metal as a whole is not long for this earth...

Why are so many people complaining about SBMM "causing" miserable killer matches? Shouldn't it be a better experience for killers since they are matched with survivors with the same skill as them?
Sweaty killers play sweaty survivors, casual killers play casual survivors, new killers play new survivors. Isn't this what SBMM is?
No...thats not even close to what it is.
What happens is, with SBMM or at least the one we tested out not too long ago. It just makes your queues even more lop sided than they already are. You end up with either people who are way too weak, or waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too strong, no matter what.
Pre-SBMM you only had to worry about that from the killers perspective because of a smurfing SWF team. Post SBMM every game has that "smurf" sensation because it'll throw in a solo queue or multiple solo queue survivors who are rank 1 against a rank 15 killer. Without them even being SWF.
On survivor side though, you end up with the same thing except every match is against what feels like a Smurfing killer. And you couldn't tell because the ranks wouldn't display properly. It was complete ass. Pre SBMM survivor you were at least guaranteed to get a killer that was at your level. Rarely ever sweats. And rarely ever a completely new killer. Post SBMM you get either a killer thats sweat tryhard 9000 no scope. Or you get Terry and its his first day on the job....
IT SUCKS!

All seeing blood. The one that tracks survivors for free with no downside
Why should tracking have a downside? Theres perks already that track with no downside.
