When they look at the Resident Evil chapter and decide to throw some changes at Nemesis do you think they will be buffs or nerfs? Not so much based on the actual power level of Nemesis himself but more so the perception of him? Of course Hillbilly didn't need to be nerfed but they did anyway. Do you think there's more of a push for a buff or a nerf?
I predict a buff, and a heavy coding update for the AI of the zombies....and hopefully some heavy code updates on terrain collision so they stop getting stuck in stupid #########.
I also predict that we're a long way from getting any type of add on pass on him even though a majority of his add ons are just....plain bad...like...they make no sense whatsoever and are impractical or don't really matter. Like the ones that boost infection rate....trash....
-
Why should the devs change the game based on arbitrary made up rules by survivor players?

I'm getting really frustrated with him since the buffs... I feel like he got balanced for high level play and that leaves the rest of us at lower levels in a bad spot. Idk. It feels braindead as he just goes bing bong mid-chase and it beats damn near everything, including sprint burst, or a successful mindgame at a pallet/loop 'cuz he's just SO fast.
Is there some counterplay I'm not aware of? Any suggestions? I'm seeing him like 5-10x a day, and I don't even want to play the match now when I see him. Such a pain.
Run the same basic loops you would against any M1 killer. And just be aware of when he's stealthing.

Made a thread on how to get better with him earlier...I don't know if it's salt, I know BrokenSoul was kindly willing to help out, but it really does feel like he struggles so much because he feels too slow. He punishes pallets and windows like Pyramid Head, makes people cough and vomit like Plague, but somehow feels lesser than either killer.
Tentacle giving speed boost without health state drop feels awful. Ideally you use tentacle to punish pallets and windows, but the slowdown when prepping it doesn't help and MAN does it hurt having to hit them 3 times in a scenario where no other killer but Trickster has to hit more than twice. And how good is Trickster? Often I just feel better going for M1. I know devs said they did not want to remove the sprint burst from it because it would feel too oppressive, but there has to be something else to make it more worth going for.
What is the point of T-Virus? Just so that they puke? So that you have an extra saving grace when put into a bad situation against a zombie? The status effect feels worthless. I almost never vaccinate as Survivor with it until I'm on death hook. I'm not a super experienced killer so I know some of this is just salt or inexperience. I chase one person as Nemesis and two gens immediately pop by the time they're on hook. He just feels too slow to start and by the time he gets going against good survivors, it feels like it is too late.
Edit: I don't think he's F-tier or whatever. He can be strong, but a lot of the times he feels weak. I'm not sure how to get a good grasp on him to have a confident say on where he is compared to other killers.
If you wanna get better at him or have easier matches...just do what we always do to trash tier killers when they launch and are trash...pump him up with the best perks in the game and.....profit?
Ruin+undying+BBQ+franklins for keys? Like...there's really not much you can do his skill cieling is capped pretty hard. I'd tell you to git guud, but, you could have spent that same effort "gitting guud" on a killer who actually would reward you for all that time spent gitting good. I'd say "spread the pain" but he's not that kinda killer, if you leave someone alone, with all the free health states you're giving them a free gen. I'd say "maybe a pure slowdown build would crank him up" but again...you could run those same slow down perks on other killers who are better at slowing the game down.
IMO he needs a niche. Every killer in this game has some kinda niche to work with, wether it be speed, stealth, huge range, or just flat out insta downing like a boss. Nemesis on the other hand doesn't really have a niche....maybe you could say his zombies are it? But ehhh....they still need some serious coding work before they're solid.

What I don't think you're grasping with nems power is you use it at the chase drop, you find a survivor very quickly with lethal purser and you normally land the first m1 quickly thanks to m&a, you follow them for down potential and normally they will take you to a loop with a pallet or a window where you get an easy whip and you drop chase and move on, with your zombies constantly feeding you Intel around the map you always know where to go to start chases and rinse repeat, nemesis is a high Intel killer as you're always seeing your zombies react around the map it's like getting mini bbq's throughout the game constantly.
In a perfect match come end game there should be no vaccines and everyone should be infected with your power at tier 3 and at this point nemesis has become a very different killer than the early game, by this point your zombies will be around the 3 gen with you as well and the pressure snowballs.
If you're running around just whipping people I can see why you feel he's f tier but you're clearly not setting up your end game on him very well. This is what annoys me when people compare him to phead when you don't play phead in this way at all it's a terrible comparison simply because they are mele with a ranged attack does not mean their game play is the same at all.
Everything you just described can be done on other killers, especially with Lethal Pursuer. The only difference is other killers will have downed and hooked 2 to 3 people in the time it took you to hook 1 and injure another (Nice break chase btw, thanks for the free gen and the free health state.) <---thats what every survivor past rank 4 thinks of you when you show up with nemesis. They don't say it, cause a lot of them like the easy match up....but deep down....they got you painted with a clown mask.
Again, try playing AGAINST him rather than AS him. He is up there with Trapper for joke matchups. You just go into the same LOS loops that you would use for PH, except against nemesis he can't hit through walls like PH so the loops actually work 100% of the time and last way longer. And he has no way to boost speed or half cut those same loops to catch up leaving you plenty of room until he's forced to M1 like a basic #########....Hell trapper would actually at least be able to force you to jump into another loop. With Nemesis you can just keep on going on a T-wall making him look silly. And thats without even bringing lithe into the mix or quick and quiet.
And I'm not even a god tier survivor watching nemesis and juking him out of his clown shoes....Imagine what actual survivor mains think....
Hell the only threatening part of nemesis kit are his zombies body blocking an indoor map, and Lethal Persuer...but every killer can use that perk so woopty doo.

Current Legion is a 4v1 killer along with doctor. And any killers who can snowball quickly or have good mobility means they’re good for the 4v1. Since they can spread damage quickly.
Ehhh, I'd give legion the exception since his power actually revolves around it, but high mobility killers are still locked to 1 person at a time, and pretty much all of them can't just magically see all other survivors while they're using their powers. A nurse going after 1 guy isn't gonna make me stop pushing a gen, same with Oni, same with Billy and ....A legion on the other hand...yeah I'm probably gonna move even if I'm not 100% sure he's on my ass next since thats how his power operates.
I would say doctor is great at 1v4....except his power doesn't actually do much except provide tracking. The skillchecks and random sound effects don't really change the game. Like, if I tier up from a doctor who's in the area chasing somebody else...I'm not gonna stop what I'm doing, he can't just boost to exactly where I'm at and then boost back to some other team mate in 2 seconds like legion.

not a threat by downing you but they pressure you regardless. Standing in pallets, humping gens, etc
No they don't....on large maps you can just avoid them, they rarely show up at pallets you need to use and in a lot of cases they aren't even moving in the right direction AKA toward you the survivor.....on top of that if nemesis decides not to run move speed add ons for the zombies they move slower than your walking speed, giving you more than enough time to pull them somewhere so they get stuck, or just rush a gen in front of them.
Like....on coldwind they may as well be decorations because they don't do much of anything except make noises to enhance the ambiance.

And then there’s guys like this who main him, say he’s amazing, and win literally every game with him at rank 1. So…..
And thats perfectly fine....people like this exist with every killer at rank 1, and if you pitted them all against each other Nemesis would still be F tier in comparison.

2 are enough. How much free pressure you want to get as nemesis? Once zombies AI is getting tweaked and more optimised they apply even more pressure. In my survivor games there is nearly always 1 zombie interrupting me doing something in critical moments
2 Zombies don't scale on large maps. The larger the map, the less significant they are. If you've played him on any of the large farm maps and coldwind etc, you'd know this.
I've only seen survivors die to these things because they were being stupid, or standing somewhere in the middle of nowhere AFK...OR the RARE 1 IN 50 chance you get where the stars align and your chase just so happens to be within hit range of a zombie.
And if you play without zombie add ons on a large map...they may as well not exist at all since their base speed is dog water....just straight up delete them at that point. But at least out of his add ons the zombie add ons are some of the best ones in his kit for overall consistent usage so running them is pretty automatic.

You do understand giving that health state is optional right ? A lot of people sleep on nemesis, he's very balanced and strongly in b tier, I've got a few hundred games with him and the meme that zombies are bad baffles me, they aren't game changing infact they are very balanced but even just in tracking information alone they help you really keep pressure on the game and the fact that the longer you keep Nem in one place the sooner the zombies will turn up and ruin your loop. Sure they bug out occasionally, you whip it walking past and a new spawns in 12 seconds.
Everything about him is very balanced with just enough depth to his power to give him a bit of a skill ceiling outside a basic m1 killer.
Nemesis really brings the pursuer pressure that fits his theme and nothing about him is BS but because he's not bs to face it ranks him poorly which is in itself, bs.
Yeah its optional if you never wanna use your power for the rest of the game and only use M1 to down survivors....
You give people the sprint burst....PERIOD if you ever use his power and tier him up past 1, you WILL give all survivors tagged a free health state. <--- That by itself...against any survivor with a brain and ESPECIALLY against survivors who absolutely know the ######### game in out backwards sideways and upside down will have your chases last twice as long as any killer in this game...period....and if you were around for mettle of man before it was nerfed...it was easily the most nightmarish chases you could ever have to deal with in this game, and for Nemesis these chases are BASE KIT....All I can say is thank god they nerfed insta heals before releasing him because it could be 10 times worse.
He doesn't have any depth. He doesn't have any secondary objectives, he doesn't have to strategically place traps around the map, he doesn't need muscle memory for movement skills, he's an M1 killer with a worse ranged ability than pyramid head.
His only big brain saving grace are his zombies.....which would be fine.....if they weren't a buggy ass mess getting stuck on terrain, and if they weren't perma locked to 2 no matter how big of a football field size map you go to....
He's F tier. And don't even bring up trickster for comparison because trickster donkey stomps him out of the water with lethality even though its popular on this forum to say that tricksters power set is "weak" yeah about as weak as bringing a machine gun to knock out bottles at a carnival. And I'm actually shocked they aren't in the process of nerfing the ######### out of him.
I personally don't like trickster, not because he's weak, but because his aesthetic doesn't fit, his power is a repeat of other power sets, and his theme is like...Murder She Wrote levels of scary when you're 6 years old and its the only thing your parents will put on the TV and you can't change the channel and you fall asleep of boredom listening to this 80 year old woman talk about the good old days while chasing around serial killers who look like the local mail man....1940s era soap opera scary...much spooky....very meh...

The amount of times I get hit by silent zombies around corners, pushed away from gens (with ruin ofc), facecamped on hooks by zombies, loop blocked by zombies (forcing me to go down or change route) is absolutly insane. Zombies are doing so much work for the killer. But the Killer just isnt noticing it because he isnt focusing on that aspect but on survivors and gens. But trust me zombies are actually doing a lot and I can say that on indoor maps they tend to be busted and frustating to go against.
The concept of the zombies isn't bad....
The fact that you only get 2 of them no matter what map you're on is bad....
The AI their using to track down survivors is trash and having them get stuck on FLAT TERRAIN.....is bad.
Everything else about them is fine.

So after killers are released after a patch or two there performance data is reviewed and either there power and addons get nerfed or buff.
Nemesis performance patch is coming up does he deserve a nerf or buff and if so why?
His add ons are kinda ass....ngl the stuff they buff is useless except for the zombie speed and detection add ons. 12 second exposure doesn't matter, aura reading doesn't matter on vaccines, and literally every single one of his vaccine box add ons....trash.
Mutation rate add ons...all trash, since there isn't really a difference between power when you tier him up, and its so easy to tier him up a lot of these add ons mean ######### all.
And I won't even go into detail over the wasted hinder add on and the free health state from infection making his chases last twice as long as any other killer (because a hinder during a sprint burst after a hit DOES LITERALLY NOTHING ######### WERE YOU THINKING BHVR?)
His kit is uninspired, his add ons are lazy and I'm disappointed.
I know BHVR can do better than this....and again....I'm disappointed.

I remember I used to have fun playing Pig, but for the life of me, I can't remember how. What's the best way to play her, including perks and addons, that make her both viable and fun to play?
Do More Objectives Build: Franklins, Hex Undying, NoED, Haunted Grounds. Crate of Gears+Extra jigsaw box. (Fun build, mainly focused on giving survivors extra things to do and if they don't do them or if they do do them, they die.
Stop Everything!: Thano, Dying Light, Sloppy Butcher, Franklins. Crate of Gears+Bag of Gears (Oppressive snowball build....basically stops the game as soon as you get injuries and hooks rolling. People get injured, stay injured, and stay mad at the extensive time needed to take off a bear trap...or do anything really)
All My Friends Are Dead: Knockout, Infectious Fright, Deer Stalker, Hex Third Seal. Face Mask+Rusty Attachments (This is a slug build. Tag and down a survivor, move onto the next one, tag and down them. Keep tagging people, all survivors are then completely aura and hook blind, slug, hook, slug, then hook. Its a simple parlor trick, but brings enough chaos into a match to completely throw survivors off of their altruism game.)
I got tons more but don't feel like writing a book today...
Also one thing to note....there is no "Best way" to play pig. She's probably the most versatile if not one of the most versatile killers in the entire roster. You can be stealthy...or not. You can be brutish....or not. You can be tricky and trappy....or not. It all depends on what you want your style to be.

Because of these replies, I'm guessing it either means "I'm bored" or "No one is coming to get me" when you see it.
I mean...you only really get 1 opportunity to signal down your friends if the killer is camping, and thats before final hook stages. If you waste the opportunity to tell people something is up by frantically waving during a REAL CAMP, you can end up having your whole team killed by a basement bubba... <---- Little known fact, was used when bubba insidious builds first started. You can't hear his terror radius with insideous so signaling was a good way to prevent trains of idiots from walking into the basement when you're in solo queue. Before Kindred was actually worth anything.

Means the killer is camping....that being said....as a killer when I see you doing it and I'm like....100 meters away...you look ridiculous.

Overall he is probably a weaker killer if you ran addons. 10 second laceration is crippling to him survivors vault 1 strong window drop 1 good pallet and they are free to go with no more laceration. It also reinforces probably my least favourite part about his playstyle of him being forced to tunnel. Now only god can help you if you dare think about pressuring multiple survivors at once. All his changes did were make him even worse in the things he was bad in and better in the things he already did well which is not how he should have been changed. He is just slinger 2 now with a lullaby boogaloo with no ability to switch targets. His basekit is probably stronger but if you were running fizz spin or melodious he was stronger than he currently is.
Windows and vaults don't matter to ranged killers....thats literally their strong suite.

I have two opinions on this: the game can either be more on the gamey competitive side, or it can be more on the scary side. But it can't be both. What makes great classic horror games scary are elements like surprise, isolation, fight or flight, and so on, which DBD mimicks fairly well. But DBD also has to balance itself out on the more competitive side too, which one-sided horror games don't. Essentially if DBD were a truly scary game, the current game we're playing would be the side game mode you unlock at the end.
The other thing is that once you consume a lot of horror, you become desensitized. I know people that can't even play DBD because they get so scared, they can't even move. Or they flub skill checks constantly because they can't focus. To those people, the game is absolutely terrifying as is. But to us, it's all second nature. I feel the same way with the games I've played for years. When I rented RE3 as a kid, I couldn't leave the storehouse because I was too scared. Now I run through the whole thing in one sitting, no sweat. Basically, a game like this can't be scary forever. They would have to completely change it routinely or make new games.
You mean like.....
Dead By Daylight: Seasons ?
-
I remember that place, vividly. When I was fairly new to survivor my first real time in that map was against a freddy, who was way more skilled than he should have been. The entire match was horrifying because of his old nightmare mechanics and the way that map allowed him to cover so much territory. It actually felt like something out of a freddy movie.
New freddy and his presence in these new reworked maps feels like a....video game....like a straight up cartoon. Like....actually kinda bad in the scare factor. Not that his power is terrible or bad, his power concept is pretty good right now.....but the visuals kinda tore his ######### up.

Yeah that's the thing, one of the only ways I can imagine that could make dbd scarier without changing much of the game is to maybe remove the terror radius of the killer and having the music only in chase, but it would probably be extremely unbalanced for killers and the devs would have to rework a lot of the perks.
I would rather play a game like that that actually scared people than deal with the E-sport levels of free information that are just handed around like candy....and yes, even the ridiculous amount of tracking perks and auras and mass info perks killer has.

Create much more unpredictability:
• Make the maps more muddled, so different jungle gym setups; randomize the number of pallets and lockers; throw aspects of different maps together.
• Add traps to be wary of. Pits, alarms, instant down traps. Make survivors uncertain of the paths they tread.
• Change the soundtrack to much more creepy noises, inspired by the maps you play in. If your in the swamps, have creepier creeks, or sounds that sound like swamp water splashing, but distort it into something creepier.
• Erase security. Have items have a low chance of "failing"; alter that barrier at the exit gates, so survivors aren't sure how far to move forwards until they escape; only nerf perks
Basically, fear is mainly based on not being able go anticipate what is going to happen. Fear is not knowing if the ship will sink/ what is hiding in the darkness/ when will the loneliness end/ will it hurt? The security and knowing has to be taken away, otherwise there is no way fear will ever have a place.
"Basically, fear is mainly based on not being able go anticipate what is going to happen. This post is the key to this problem. I been sayin stuff similar for ages. But I don't think the devs actually know how to do this.
-
If this game had more maps, and at least 6 or 7 different game modes that would appear randomly, its horror factor wouldn't diminish as quickly. But as a lot of survivors already mention, its the same game over and over again, against the same killers with the same style of match over and over again on what could honestly be described as only a handful of maps if we're talking level design....its small... and considering the game isn't some big open world extravaganza its kinda weak to have as few maps as we do. But what makes it worse is that every game mode is the exact same. Generator...after generator.....after generator.
Theres no doors to unlock, no puzzles to solve, no check points to get past, no things to collect on your way to some objective, theres no notes to read, LITERALLY THE GAME IS MISSING 90% OF OTHER GAMES HORROR TROPE MODES! We got generators, and thats it.

good horror games only lose their fear factor after you've memorized them.
yes, that is quite literally the point i was making.
the enemies can't be memorized because they're played by actual people
this one is jut straight up false.
you can absolutely memorize all the characters, their strengths, weaknesses, Perk combinations and common playstyles - it doesnt even take that long.
then you memorize all the map layouts and once you figured out that more than half of the entire Killer cast can be countered by the exact same playstyle (looping and / or genrushing), you wont be scared of any Killer you see anymore.
And the reason its burned away is due to coddling, nerfs, and giving tells to the survivor player too much, under the guise of (improving solo queue experience) when in actuality its done nothing but take away from the overall theme of the game
so you're saying that this game being balanced and fair is a bad thing?
i can guarantee you, even if they buffed every Killer to be ridiculously OP and unbeatable, people wont be scared of them. They will be annoyed at best and just quit the game at worst.
Every stealth killer was given huge sound queues and tells so people could see them coming.
... no?
if that were the case, Killers like Shape, Ghost Face or Pig would be literally unplayable.
if you get spotted with them, thats because your pathing was flawed and you ran straight into the Survivors LoS / because the map you were on happened to be a huge and open one like Rotten Fields or Mount Ormond.
i still see plenty of people getting jumpscared by stealth Killers even today.
and yes, when everyone was new to the game and didnt know ######### about it, they played very differently and much more immersed.
however, as you can very clearly see, the more they got into it, the less scared and the more bold they became - thats not because the game had changed drastically in the survivors favor (quite the opposite, actually), its because they learned the different mechanics, layouts, Killers, etc. and got bored of hiding.
again, play literally any horror game you want for 2k+ hours and you will experience exactly what you currently experience with DbD.
or just rewatch the same horror film on a loop, its the same thing: they can be as good as they want, once you saw it all there is nothing left in there to scare you - even jumpscares (which are the cheapest way of "scaring" someone) eventually grow old. just look at FNAF, the exact same thing happened to those games - death was scary at first, but after a while was just annoying.
"you can absolutely memorize all the characters, their strengths, weaknesses, perk combinations and common playstyles - it doesn't even take that long"
^ You're missing the point. And unless you can prove to me that you're psychic my point still stands. Every killer is controlled by a human being. You can't predict nor memorize what they're going to do with their powers, when they're going to show up, what they're going to use to enhance their strengths, what they're going to use to patch up their weaknesses, you can't see their perks, you don't know that persons playstyle, and you don't even know who or what you're dealing with until the match starts....Its literally like having a custom horror movie made from scratch play out every single time.
^ Thats the point. Which is a great concept, and would create tense moments and keep people on their toes / afraid.....
But it doesn't. Not because you don't know who's behind the controls or what they're going to do. But because survivors are given too many tools to completely IGNORE EVERYTHING THAT CAN BE DONE!
I'll pose you a question.
We're gonna pretend you've never played Resident Evil 3.
Its your first time with the game, its got atmosphere, its got fear factor.
As soon as you boot up the game, you have INFINITY BULLETS, ALL WEAPONS UNLOCKED, and INFINITY MED KITS...you gonna be afraid of a game if I give you infinite bullets and health?
^ Thats where this game is at right now on survivor side. There is no challenge, there is no reason to be afraid, and even if you don't know whats going to happen, you have 1000 different tools to completely negate whats happening THUS NO REASON TO EVER BE ON EDGE OR EVEN CAUTIOUS A LITTLE BIT. And patch after patch the devs keep adding on to the stash of INFINITE BULLETS. Like I said earlier in this thread, you can survive in this game with MINIMAL effort. All you have to do is throw on your BHVR cheat codes and meta perks, pick a survivor, you don't even need to hide from ANYTHING even ranged killers and just win games from rank 20 up to rank 1 its the same damn thing every game until you either run into a spirit, or run into a nurse or a blight (who by the way, are only complained about because there aren't tons of different tools available to deal with them IE you don't have infinite bullets)....THATS IT! 3 killers OUT OF THE ENTIRE ROSTER INCLUDING EVERY LICENSED STEALTH KILLER YOU MENTIONED IN YOUR POST are completely hosed out 90% of the time and provide little to no edge/fear/pressure/panic/or caution... 3..... THREEE!!! Out of a roster of 24, THREE OUT OF TWENTY FOUR!!
And instead of adding onto the scary presence of the game by raising the stakes BHVR HAS LOWERED THEM EVERY TIME! They add more second chance perks, more stuns, more escapes, more hex counters, more healing, more gen rush assists. Why do you think killers are all of a sudden camping to jesus every game now adays? Its the only damn thing they got that can't be okey doked by some random perk or item....
WE HAVE A KILLER WHO HAS METTLE OF MAN BONUS TO SURVIVORS GIVING THEM EXTRA TIME TO LIVE BUILT INTO HIS KIT AND HE'S A CAPCOM LICENSE AND ONE OF THE MOST ICONIC VIDEO GAME HORROR VILLAINS OF ALL TIME.... <--Thats the state of this game. Its Evolve: Stage 2....thats this game...

Don't even get me started on ghostface...I had a lot of hope for him when there were leaks of his kit and the possibility of him being a stealth killer....and then all of his brooding potential went down the drain when I realized that even while stealth YOU CAN HEAR HIS DAMN FLAPPY BIRD COSTUME FROM ACROSS THE GODS DAMN STREET! And a PTB that released where you could break his god damn stealth and not even realize you were looking at him.

And funny enough, those horror icons are what truly contributed to the horror aesthetic, which the game sadly now lacks. In my honest opinion, during DBD's golden age of spookiness (2017) Freddy and Michael were easily the scariest killers. Combine the map's visuals and fog, which were way better in the past, with the uniqueness of those two killers and you had the perfect set for horror.
Now, the map's all look worse, the fog is basically gone. Freddy lost everything that made him unique, including his creepy factor. Michael still plays the same, but so many things changed around him that it is hard to find the same enjoyment. And all of this without mentioning Trickster and weird cosmetics.
Yes, it is obvious that the game will never be as scary as it was when you first started playing. However, there is a very clear difference between having a horror theme on a survival horror game, and not having one at all.
I used to be scared to play survivor during that time. The game was at its peak. Now adays though playing survivor feels cheap, I can run all the meta perks and just drop pallets early and never die, so I mainly play killer for 2 reasons, A because I like the role, and B because I feel like if at least 1 killer is still TRYING to keep things spicey survivor players coming into the game won't be completely bored, given the limitations of what a killer can even do. But even now adays I'm starting to feel like not even bothering with that anymore because the devs won't even try to meet halfway so you as the killer can provide even a little tension, fear, and entertainment to survivors.
The game used to feel like dressing up as a big horror villain in one of the nations best haunted houses that would send people into actual panic and fear.
Now it just feels like killer is a haunted house usher in a haunted house made for 5 year olds where the patrons casually walk by and say hi and you in your "monster suit" reach down and say hello to peoples toddlers and give them hugs and candy.....ITS BULL #########!

Yeah, I remember being new to the game. The terror radius was scary, not hearing the terror radius and wondering if a Wraith or Myers is stalking you was scary, staying injured was scary. Eventually when you learn the game and realise where to run and how to loop tiles, you don't get scared because you know what you have to do. You lose that unsureness. And that's not just for DBD, it's any horror game you play long enough to memorise. Resident Evil is a good example, the first time you play through those the jumpscares will get you. But if you're playing it again you know exactly when they're going to happen. DBD might be a different kind of game to RE or Outlast, but it's no exception to this. The only thing that scares me in-game anymore is setting off Hag traps when you aren't expecting it. And perhaps the occasional Myers or Ghostface.
Resident Evil is full of NPC's they repeat the same actions over and over again, the result is the same, over and over again. This game's horror element has the luxury of being controlled by a real person. The results and actions....are not the same over and over again. Every match is different, every killer is different, you can't expect whats going to happen from match to match....
BUT ONE PROBLEM....You lose unsureness in this game not from playing it 100 times...but from the course of that 300 hours the game patch by patch becoming easier and more of an E-sport. You teabag the killer because you're sure you can escape, and you're sure that that doing that you will suffer no real consequence. You have tons of second chance perks, tons of perks to start the chase huge distances away from the killer, perks to instantly end a chase and pop across a map, perks to see the killer coming via auras, perks to see everybody on your team, perks to heal yourself, perks to get back up from being practically dead, perks to escape hooks on your own, perks to stop a killer from hooking you, perks to blind and stun killers, perks to end the game in minutes, items to end the game in minutes, items to stun the killer, items to find a key and get out of the match early, perks to find items to do all of the above, and a game design team who's idea of a threat is making a counter to the same threat thus turning the game into a MOBA.....and everything I mentioned above is multiplied by 4 in a game that can be finished in under 5 minutes...
I've heard the same excuse about why this game isn't scary for the past 3 years and everybody skips over the most basic part of why survivors don't hide in games anymore and neon bright skins became the best selling costumes in the game...ITS OBVIOUS....

I hope you didn't just jinx it...
I gave up on this game as a horror game. Its shifted to be campy, easy going and lighthearted especially with the changes they make every major patch. I'm jumpin over to support Evil Dead as soon as it releases in hopes their vision has some integrity. At least in Evil dead when something out of a cartoon happens it'll fit with the overall theme of the films. This game though, you have some of the most serious and Iconic characters in horror movie history being treated like jokes by the games design. That mockery of a resident evil boss was proof enough.

i mean, go play any horror game for like 2.000 hours and i guarantee you it wont be able to scare you anymore either.
we are usually scared of the unknown, so once that factor is ruled out there isnt a whole lot left to scare us anymore, which is exactly why DbD cant maintain the scare factor it had on us when we never heard of it before and just played it for the first time.
Thats demonstrably false....
I've been in everything from Dino Crisis to Resident Evil to Outlast...good horror games only lose their fear factor after you've memorized them.
This game on the other hand....the enemies can't be memorized because they're played by actual people. Theres no excuse for this game to lose fear factor, except it has....over time....I've watched it....burn away...little...by little. And the reason its burned away is due to coddling, nerfs, and giving tells to the survivor player too much, under the guise of (improving solo queue experience) when in actuality its done nothing but take away from the overall theme of the game. Every stealth killer was given huge sound queues and tells so people could see them coming. And most of the threats that made killers dangerous and build tension have been removed or a perk on the survivors side is created to negate a threat and negate tension.
It isn't like this game didn't used to be scary or have tension. It used to....damn near every single game, especially against jump scare killers. Past 2 years though..its been thrown down the drain in exchange for FORTNITE SKINS! And happy go lucky themes. Don't take my word for it...just go back and look at old DBD videos (from players not click hungry content creators) The ambiance, mood, character themes, costume choices ARE NIGHT AND DAY! And the way survivors would play WAS NIGHT AND DAY. They had more of a sense of self preservation and immersion because it was way easier to die as a survivor.

My immersion screams in horror every time it sees this poor excuse of a character.
I give it a year before they have to change the rating down to Teen from MA to accompany the campiness of the game.

OP what are you on about 1v1 killers? You can only chase 1 person at a time at any given time on EVERY SINGLE KILLER....

I hear a lot of Nurse complaints and people wanting her to be changed. Personally I never had to many issues with Nurse. But, that got me thinking is there anything to really change that wouldn't end her. Has she reached the point where she can't be changed further? Unlike Spirit who can still receive nerfs and be a strong killer. I can't see any further nerfs for Nurse that wouldn't ruin her. So if you have a miracle change please post it.
People who want her nerfed have never actually played her to any competent level and are just put off at the (literal handful) of actually competent nurse players that exist. If BHVR listens to that kind of whining theres no point in playing anymore since its final proof that they will change their design to accompany low player skill instead of encourage learning the game. She is the most difficult character you could play in most games with the most muscle memory required than anything I've ever experienced or seen in a game...her design is nothing short of genius.
If BHVR wants to delete it/nerf it. Theres no hope.

Its not your console thats at fault. As soon as the visual rework started the game has had performance issues, even on PC.

Do Ace players also make you unnerved? For me they're such wild cards, everytime I run into them they act so weird. They run the weirdest perks and somehow it always work.
I ran into an Ace that hit me with SOUL GUARD. I never see that perk being run anytime, it just completely broke me because I wasn't prepared for that. Then I look at their perks...
Soul Guard
Fast Track
Second Wind
And Flip-flop
I got so confused at his build, he's a legend.
But, do you also run into wild card survivors?
NGL.... at first glance of those perk names I have no idea ######### they do except for flip flop.....
So.....yeah I'd prolly get confused and lose to random paranormal strange events due to those perks.

Because he has a trash copy pasted power and does more in his kit to help survivors than hinder them. Why the hell would anybody play nemesis when you could play a killer who's power actually tries to hurt and kill survivors? Thats basically what it comes down to. Do I wanna play a killer who takes the equivalent of 3 M1s to kill people or do I wanna play a killer who takes 2 hits like normal? Nemesis basically gives survivors a free Mettle of Man BEFORE IT WAS NERFED.....

You dont need to consider skill just the average swf vs the average killer can show how much a dissparity we have between nurse/spirit vs the rest of the cast
No....because average players are usually averagely bad....thats how this game got so imbalanced in the first place, balancing the game around shoddy average players instead of gods. And the game itself mechanically doesn't require much to begin with the skill floor starts incredibly low. So its not hard to measure it.

I have seen countless threads and twitch chats talking about this killer and that killer being S or A tier. Here is the reality, based on high level play:
Viable: Nurse and Spirit
Non-viable: the rest of the cast
Too many people base their opinions on a low level of play. The problem is that tier discussion based on people who don’t play the game at a high level is pointless. Against unoptimal players, any killer can win. It is pointless to put then in A or B tier when they all crush noobs.
Who the hell makes tier lists without considering the most outrageous top tier big brained players?

The fact that you had to ask this....prooves...yeah....
We know whats going on and that it gives a pretty significant advantage that would make you question if you're cheating or not.
That being said....devs can't do ######### about it so.....its technically fine. Along with Brightness filters so you can see people in the dark that you may have otherwise passed up.

You poor peeps. I see Mikey all the time. Had one last night doing the Monitor and dead rabbit build. I love Mikey, and I don't think he is anywhere near as bad as some people claim. He's not even in the bottom five of worst killers. But he does need some buffs.
I asked the devs in one of the Q&A streams last October about giving him some updates. Just before the blight event. As usual they were just being number crunchers. They said they checked Mikey's stats in terms of kills rates and pick rates in both red ranks and all across all ranks. In both he's in the top half of performance. They said he's a in a good spot and are happy with how he's performing. They said the only thing they may change for him is some of his "problematic" add ons.
So yeah they'll change things nobody wanted changed and were happy with, but will not touch anything which people would like to see updated.
AKA they're about to nerf the ######### out of him...

Out of wraith - pig - ghostface. i know spirit should be included too but her stealth is very situational mostly at the start of the match so thats why i didnt want to include her. i ask because im trying to get better at stealth kills and i am not asking who is easier just who has the better shock value and all that thanks
If you want pure stealth all the time, at all times, then Wraith.
If you want extra utility to actually win the match and stall then Pig.
If you want tracking and a 1 shot mechanice and maybe aren't too worried about real stealth then Ghostface.
If you want speed and a less graceful stealth then Spirit is the way to go.
If I had to rank them from best to worst stealth killers and overall chance to win I'd rate
- Spirit
- Pig
- Wraith
- Ghostface
If you're only aiming for jump scares then Pig and Spirit are probably the best in that area.
Wraith isn't as scary when he comes out of stealth and without good add ons its kinda hard to grab people off gens.
And ghostface scare factor sucks cause he flaps around in the wind as he's stealthed which pretty much makes his stealth one of the worst in the game.

I find greater success in pig when placing a trap on their head then going and camping any jigsaw box. This results in an easy down since they almost never fully heal.
Since survivors never die from the trap it makes more sense to just attack them while distracted and vulnerable at a box.

Sony expects 70% of playstation store sales this financial year to be from ps4. The head of Playstation Studios said "You can’t build a community of over 110 million PS4 owners and then just walk away from it, right? I think that’d be bad news for fans of PS4, and frankly not very good business." Maybe they're stopping for Xbox 1 but Sony is still planning on releasing new games to ps4 for some time still.
The newest Xbox Series S is actually widely available..... but for all the wrong reasons.
A. Most of the games titles are either not out yet, or pretty much suck.
B. Most of the consumers of the product still have no idea which ######### Xbox is the newest Xbox because of the dumbass naming structure.
C. B shows why you keep things simple.

The game is being held back by itself, not by old hardware. It's not a large, complex, ultra-hi-definition game, so why does it require that kind of hardware?
The answer is simple; The optimisation is shite. The code is terrible, we already know that, the visuals are badly implimented, it allegedly loads nearly everything into a trial instead of what it needs...
Uhhhh, this is in reference to LOD right? Not like.....entire maps and multiple maps that aren't even on screen right?

many games are dropping out of their support for last gen.
If you think about it last gen is actually holding back current gen.
BHVR keeps updating the game and providing graphical updates and new content but it's coming at a cost with last gen performance and working on last gen consoles is actually slowing down current gen progress.
I don't know what will happen to last gen players maybe they'll move onto next gen but I don't foresee devs working on last gen any longer
Dude....Current Gen doesn't exist yet unless you got lucky. All of these "Next Gen" consoles don't exist for people in masse. It would be financial suicide to drop support until the silicone shortage goes back to normal. Which may not be until 2025 and thats being hopeful.

You can't go on about freedom of speech when your original post is referring to violating the forum rules.....so yeah....it does sound like crying in that aspect. And you're also suffering from not reading syndrome as you obviously didn't read the forum rules when you made this post, let alone are likely not to read any previous posts giving tips and guides on how to avoid tunneling and camping so....yeah....its sad lonely violin tears at this point.
