@Chaotic_Riddle Yeah, I'm afraid you died chief. Don't worry I'll just slap the blood-soaked name tag on someone else and you'll be right as rain!
-
@PhantomMask20763 Basically I got into a fight with a boss that summons minions and got almost everyone killed through overconfidence.
-
@Shad03 Yeah those guys are always partying.
-
@Mushwin I am not sure. I play on PC and I think it's the same way.
Regardless of what the noise is, we all need to remember:
DC + Noise = Intentional DC
DC + No noise = Game or network problem
-
@Mushwin I wasn't doubting you, I was just making sure everyone was aware of the noise.
-
@Kikki Well hitting people once when you initially hook them is actually not toxic.
This hit disrupts the standard loud and longer than normal hooked scream with the standard attack scream.
Some folks use this to save their hearing, others are trying to listen for others lurking nearby.
Overall, it's not a really toxic thing if it's just the one love tap. If they stay there and beat your meat though, that's a different thing entirely.
-
Real talk though, in case you guys weren't aware whenever someone manually DCs there is a noise indication. Network DCs are silent.
So use this knowledge during matches before you judge.
-
@CoolConnor96 Check the Bug Reports subforum thread on the subject. Just know that this is an exploit and bannable.
-
Well I thanks to sheer dumb luck I've somehow lost another one. However, ever since the last incident I've been recording the quests.
Here's how Chaotic_Riddle passed the same week I got him:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHYz-xaQC_U&feature=youtu.beI swear, normally there's not this much death.

@Peasant that story confused me so much, you dont even know
@PhantomMask20763 What parts of it are causing confusion?

So you know how I am a hybrid mobile and PC user? Well on mobile spelling is important for names as you can't undo an @'d name on mobile. So I had a brilliant idea to memorize name spellings: Name some Darkest Dungeon heroes after forum folks I want to remember. It was only recently that I realized the one flaw with this plan, though. Darkest Dungeon doesn't play nice. So in only 1 weeks time I've had some casualties to "The Collector"
In case anyone was curious as to how this all happened, the short version is I walked straight into a roaming boss and got rekt'd.
The long version is: The Collector appeared and we began combat and held our own for a while. Shad03 and I kept the collected minions at bay while Hoodedfengm1n kept pelting the boss with Divine Judgement because the only other person who would've had ranged attacks was Shad03 who I had reslotted to all melee skills, because Legion. So for a while it was working, Hoodedfengm1n chipped away the boss's health, Shad03 and myself kept stabbing and smiting all of the minions, and DocOctober kept spamming Wyrd restoration to heal everyone.
Then things went south faster than a Susie's Mix Tape Feral Frenzy. DocOctober got hit by a critical hit that did 41 damage ("That's a lot of damage!") that sent him straight to death's door. (Basically, a health state where 1 more hit has a good chance to kill you.) Before I can even think to myself, it's okay I'll have him heal he gets stabbed in the chest by a Collected Highwayman and dies. As I prepared to retreat the other Collected Highwayman got a crit with an attack with a bleed effect and put Shad03 at death's door. Then, when it was Shad03's turn to act he instantly bled out and died. Desperately spamming retreat to save Hoodedfengm1n and myself we just barely escaped, however it turned out that I was too stressed out. After escaping the boss I immediately had a heart attack and died leaving Hoodedfengm1n the sole survivor.
There's not really any lessons to be learned here other than Darkest Dungeon doesn't mess around. Just figured I'd share in case you guys found it interesting.

Today's Results:
The BP purge on Wraith was to help lower the numbers until I could consistently remember to check the 1st page of results before disconnecting.
-
@MineAntoiya Since you seem interested here's yesterday's results:
Granted, some of these numbers may be a bit off as I only recently learned that only the 1st endgame screen shows the accurate amount of BP you actually earned + BBQ and any offerings.
-
@MineAntoiya I really, really want to, but I don't want to deny folks the data.
I probably just wanted to vent for a minute that it's not a fun process.
-
@drunky26 Flashlights are actually the worst survivor item.
First off, they are only "really good" against Wraith, Nurse, and Hag who have weaknesses to the light. (See "Lightburn" and "Phantasm Traps".)
Second, they have several counters, first off, facing a wall almost completely prevents blinds.
Also, ears! Footsteps and grunts can help you track whoever blinded you and almost entirely negate the blind.
As for pallet blinds just bring Brutal Strength. Or Franklin's Demise, or Lightborn, or Overwhelming Presence.
Finally, the blind can only occur if a survivor is near you, that means that they aren't on generators.
Overall flashlights are a lackluster item. I get that they can be annoying at times but they're not nearly as good as you think they are.
Besides, they nerfed them after South Korea.
-
Okay, I did this for less than 1 day and it sucks.
All I learned is that I go through a LOT of bloodpoints.
Too many to bother tracking anyway.
-
@PyroDudeI had the strangest dream about being chased by some guy in a striped sweater with a knife glove if that counts.
-
-
Maybe if we just nerf him hard enough he'll suddenly jump to the other end of the spectrum and be nurse tier?
Like how Ghandi in civ is peaceful until he researches nukes. Then he gets so peaceful that it turns him to maximum aggressiveness.
-
@PhantomMask20763 Are you alright man? First you make a joke about Legion butchering a school and now you're uploading videos of abused animals. These sorts of things are what the professionals call "warning signs" you know.
-
@PhantomMask20763 Eyyyy, lucky sev-en!
-
-
@TreemanXD That was pure luck. Maybe I should start running Up the Ante?
-
-
Okay, I actually just put a link and explanation on my wall so just click my name and that should get you started. The download link is there as well. Just open the drive link, click FILE, then click make copy. This will add a copy of the document that you can edit which will be placed in your google drive. Then just follow the instructions on my wall if you get stuck. Feel free to @Peasant if you need help!

I want killers to be fun to play, scary to play against, and viable at high ranks.
-
@ChuManaMaka So you need knowledge eh? Let's get this party started!
Map Tips:
Both current indoor maps: The Game, and Lery's Memorial Institute have exit signs above the doorways of rooms near and connecting to the exit gates. If you get lost on these maps, follow the signs. (Additionally, from what I can tell the exit gates on the Game always seem to spawn across from each other for some reason.)
Both Backwater Swamp Maps have "Crow Bombs" if you are playing on one of these maps and hear an entire murder of crows take flight then it means one of three things:
- The killer is at the main structure
- A survivor is at the main structure
- The crows are returning to the main structure
In terms of killer strength, most killers are the most dangerous on their home turf.
- Trapper - Macmillan Estate, the overall darker shading makes it easier to miss traps and step into them.
- Wraith - Auto Haven Wreckers, the bright lighting makes the glowing from the uncloaking animation less noticeable.
- Hillbilly/Leatherface - Coldwind Farm, The corn fields don't stop chainsaws making them very dangerous places to be in against a killer with an instadown.
- Nurse - Crotus Prenn Asylum, Between the main structure and outer looping areas "jungle gyms" there is a very large open space that makes you very easy to see.
- Myers - Haddonfield, The map has a number of areas Myers can either drop down and ambush you from or stalk you from.
- Hag - Backwater Swamp, The ground texture and the Hag's traps are the same color making it much harder to spot traps then if you were on other maps. Additionally, it's far easier to hide totems on this map.
- Doctor - Lery's Memorial Institute, The doctor can sneak up on you from around corners even with the terror radius and his power can stop you from using essential vaults turning escape routes into dead ends.
- Huntress - Mother's Dwelling, The abundance of hills and high places gives the huntress great sight lines to snipe from making her ranged power more dangerous.
- Freddy - Badham Preschool, The great distance between most generators makes it harder for survivors to wake up after tagged with sleepiness.
- The Pig - The Game, the countless drop downs and overall small size help her easily and stealthily navigate the map. She can also hide behind the doors next to generators to ambush survivors.
- The Clown - Father Campbell's Cathedral, The map is rather small so getting slowed by the tonic has a much larger impact on this map compared to other maps. Furthermore, the small size makes it easier to apply pressure to multiple survivors.
- The Spirit - Yamaoka Estate, When using her power the Spirit cannot see survivors. However she can see scratchmarks and the rusting of grass or bamboo as survivors pass through it. The sheer amount of brush on this map makes it drastically easier to track survivors while phasing as Spirit.
- The Legion - Ormond Resort, The map has a number of open areas that make maintaining LOS, an important part of playing Legion, easier. Furthermore, the central ski lodge structure has a large second floor balcony that wraps around a good portion of the structure, making it an excellent location to watch for survivors.
- The Plague - Temple of Purgation, The map is rather large compared to other maps, and is loaded with interactable objects to infect.
Important Map notes:
All realms have opaque "Jungle Gym" or loop structure walls except for Coldwind Farm which has see-through walls, for some reason.
Moving through grass or corn makes noise so be careful moving near the killer.
Crows can caw and give away your position by flying away and by flying back.
Survivor Tips:
When starting a trial try to reach the center of the map and repair the center generator first. Doing this makes it harder for the killer to patrol the rest of generators as now they are all spread out and going through the middle just wastes time.
When searching for a generator look for the tall light posts with flickering lights. If you are on an indoor map, look for flickering wall and ceiling lights as those are signs of a yellow generator (indoor variant of the red generator) being nearby.
When performing Repair, Sabotage, or Healing actions keep an ear out for a distinct ring noise. That noise tells you that a skillcheck is coming so you can focus.
When you hear the terror radius (heartbeat) use your camera to peek around corners without the killer knowing.
Recommended Starting Perks:
Spine Chill - Is a excellent perk that tells you when the killer is staring directly at your location. It will give you a clear indication of when it is a good time to run.
Kindred - If you are getting hooked a lot this perk is for you! Kindred shows your allies each other's auras and the killer's aura if they are within a radius of the hook. Using this perk increases the odds that your allies will try to save you and save you when the killer is not nearby.
Plunderer's Instinct - Since you're new there's going to be a massive grind for Bloodpoints to progress your characters. Plunderers's let's you get some value out of your game's sooner by increasing the odds that you get better items from chests. Plus, since you'll be barred from teachable perks early on, being able to get better Medkits and Broken Keys (with The Eroded Token or Gold Token Add-on equipped) will give you access to Pseudo Self-care and Pseudo Bond.
Dark Sense - This perk will show you where the killer is after you finish a generator and will show you where the killer is after the last generator is finished. This information tells you how to escape:
- Sneak to the gate that killer is going to and wait until they leave to open it
- Run to the gate the killer isn't going to and open it asap
Killer Tips:
When starting a trial try to focus on defending generators over chasing survivors. If the gates never open then the survivors never leave (and then you get them).
Don't be afraid to abandon chases, some players like to smurf or de-pip just to harass newer players. You will meet survivors that are master loopers early and often. So, if you see one of these players, simply ignore them and focus on the other survivors who are likely closer to your skill level. As a general rule, if it takes you over 40 seconds to get a single hit on them then they're above your skill level.
Practice with your killer's power. Each power generally does SOMETHING to help in a chase. The more comfortable you are with a killer's power the better off you'll be as that killer.
Don't let the negative feedback get to you unless it's constructive. Folks will try to bully you into playing their way by complaining if you camped (stayed near a hook or objective for a while) or tunneled (prioritized killing off one survivor over the others). Play how you want to but be open to positive feedback.
Recommended Perks:
Bitter Murmur - This perk tells shows you where survivors are after a generator is completed and after the exit gates are powered. Use this to guide you early on if you have a hard time keeping track of what's going on.
Whispers - The perk lights up when you're near a survivor and shuts off when you aren't. Use this perk to try to always be pressuring someone.
Sloppy Butcher - This perk causes all survivors hit by your standard attack to become Mangled which is a fancy way of saying they'll heal slower. This perk can slow down the game some which as a novice killer you'll need to do if you want to win. It also makes survivors bleed more frequently which makes it easier to track them as an added bonus.
No One Escapes Death - As a novice killer it's very likely that all of the generators will be repaired and survivors will still be kicking. This perk (provided a dull totem remains on the map) gives you double damage with your melee weapon letting you instantly down survivors with a successful melee hit. This perk is a crutch, however you won't have access to Hex: Ruin or BBQ and Chili, or even Enduring when you first start off so anything goes.
I know that this is a lot, but I hope it helps! Good luck in the fog!

@thesuicidefox @Shad03 @NuclearBurrito @Hoodedfengm1n @TreemanXD @ClogWench @PhantomMask20763You all know nothing of fear! I still have the "new" forum format on my phone!

@Peasant that's the best nurse build I've seen yet!
@KillermainBTWm8 I know, right?!
-
@NuclearBurrito They said "teching" as in tech. I assume they're trying to say mindgame Legion at pallets but I'm not sure.
-
I use Bamboozle, Monstrous Shrine, Spies from the Shadows, and Fire Up!
-
*Glances at my Doctor build*
Gain a 25% total BP bonus after hooking each survivor for the first time up to 100%
Gain 100% more BP in the Deviousness category during the game. Larger terror radius as well.
Gain 50% more BP in the Hunt category during the trial. Your red stain is hidden after you get bloodlust.
Gain 10% more BP in the Hunt category for each totem left on the map. Up to 50%.
*Laughs psychotically*

@OrionsFury4789 I technically am a console peasant, just not one for Dead by Daylight.
I own a Nintendo Wii, a 3DS (old) XL, and a Nintendo Switch. So while I prefer to play PC I do have consoles for games like Fire Emblem.
-
Honestly, I don't like it. It had a lot of potential, but that ended up being wasted simply due to how long it takes to get the perk set up.
If they let you use it on yourself it might be okay as that'd let you build up the tokens without screwing your allies.
Overall though, I would sooner pick Botany.
-
@Hoodedfengm1n Also I did some Legion add-on research so I can confidently say that the base Frenzy duration is 10 seconds (and it takes 14 seconds to fully recharge).
-
@Hoodedfengm1n What exactly will you need to borrow? I may be able to provide assista- wait you're not on PC are you?
-
@Hoodedfengm1n Sure! Then show it to @Kim who may be the fog's newest Legion.
-
To be toxic is to intentionally cause distress and make others miserable for your own enjoyment.
Basically, if you make things personal.
If you taunt the killer all game and then say go or well played that's cool.
If you taunt the killer all game then tell them to destroy themselves and hurl insults at then and harass them, that's toxic.
Killer example:
If you play Legion, try your best to win and say go at the end of the match it's cool.
If you play Legion and stack the knife add-ons to give survivors inappropriately long mend timers and insult everyone post game then that's toxic.
-
@Shad03 We have the same idea then.
-
@Kim Honestly, I'd recommend buying Legion. Legion is a fun, unique killer that's easy to learn, but hard to master.
-
Normally I'd say Spine Chill, but I think that it is a somewhat commonly used perk. So instead I will be honest here and say Wake Up.
Wake Up, for those unaware, is Quentin Smith's first teachable perk and at tier three it reveals the auras of the exit gates with an unlimited range while also increasing the speed at which you open said gates. Combine this perk with Spine Chill and it might just save your butt.
As a final note, when opening the exit gates your aura is also revealed to all other survivors with an unlimited range so it helps them learn where a progressed or open gate is.
Wake Up might not be a meta pick compared to Adrenaline but remember, that extra health state and speed boost mean nothing if you can't find an open door.
-
@TMoser It's, it's when you walk sideways, like a crab. Crabwalking.

My current build, hyper Legion: Iron Maiden, Bamboozle, Brutal Strength, Shadowborn.
"It just works."
-
@kamisen This sounds great! Consider adding it to the "one thing you'd add" thread on the first page.
-
-
I play on PC, also no.

- "That sounds like a good idea!"
- *puts my Tier 1 Bamboozle on Legion*
- *gets the Game map*
- "Hey they're going for the window that drops onto the lower floor! It'll cut them off and trap them up there with me."
- *starts vaulting window*
- "Wait a minute..."
Not gonna lie, I needed that laugh. Have a pic of a surprised Legion:
