@No_Cluie_Louis Sorry you had to deal with that. On the bright side though, there are exceptions. I for one will admittedly camp sometimes with Insidious, but I generally try to make you think that I left so that I can scare you and your savior with a Feral Frenzy.
Not all Legions camp.

It will be on the PTB first. If it is necessary, they could always be changed. It's worth noting a few things, though:
- Although the speed is lower, Feral Frenzy is longer. Overall, you'll be able to much much further than you could before which will make it easier to hit multiple survivors.
- Using Feral Frenzy against an already injured Survivor wouldn't be a good idea in the first place, since all it would accomplish is applying Deep Wounds to them.
- If you miss an attack, your power will not be depleted, it will only cancel. For example, if you have 75% of your charge left, you will start recharging from that point. It does not go back down to zero just because you missed.

This confirmation has just made my day. This change will be great!

Devs, you're doing a great job because you made the most annoying joyless killer in the game tolerable to play against.
Bravo for that.
@Dwight_Fairfield Did they though? From what I can tell everyone's biggest complaint about Legion was having to constantly mend. However, that part of the power remains and will likely remain with Legion forever.
So all they did was counter the exploits, which most decent folk weren't using anyway.

The changes state that Frenzy is cancelled in a missed swing, not depleted—much like how Spirit’s power gauge doesn’t reset to 0 when you come out of phase. Unless you’re already at the end of the power, you won’t have to wait the full time—a truth that is buffed by the increased duration.
Speaking of increased duration, there’s only so much you can nerf Frenzy’s speed when the difference between 115% and 132% is only 17%—meaning that chances are, an increase in duration is likely to, at the very least, offset the speed nerf.
I agree that the speed nerf is bad, however, so don’t try to convince me it’s a problem, because I already think so.
And if you’re that obsessed with sneaking up on a Survivor, then just play a stealth Killer or, better yet, run Monitor and Abuse—it was already extremely meta on Legion before anyway.
My main issue is your upsetness at the Frenzy stub. Legion isn’t automatically completely castrated in a chase because “oh boo hoo I got Frenzy stunned”. He’s going to be a 115 Killer with good mindgames; make use of it. And if you miss an attack, then the Survivor is obviously still there and can very likely be in a compromising position. You’ll be fine.
I agree that a lot of these changes are unnecessary, especially when stacked on top of each other. But acting like they’re the complete end of the world is just a silly overreaction.
@No_Mither_No_Problem You beautiful man, you! I had never read the changes like that. I always assumed that the power bar would just flush like a toilet once I missed a swing. If it just ends the Frenzy but retains the charges it's far kinder than I originally thought.
@Shad03 Come over here and take a look at what @No_Mither_No_Problem said!
-
@Shad03 That's the thing though, you NEED Insidious to be at tier III before you try anything serious with it. Otherwise it takes too long to set up.
It also has a lot of gut to it. You have to guess whether or not folks will even show up. You could wait in a corner by a generator all game and have nobody ever touch that generator. Or you could just get Insidious active and have someone wander in seconds later.
-
@Shad03 Well Insidious is actually a counter to Jungle Gyms entirely if used correctly. Just find a corner and try to hide your stain for 2 seconds. Suddenly the killer has no Terror radius and no red stain. You could be waiting at any part of that gym and now they don't know where.
Also the secret to Insidious Legion is to understand your height. Most killers have the camera closer to the mouth/neck area so if you can guess where your head would stick out you can hide behind unexpected obstacles, like the Truck in the Gas Heaven garage, or the central prop of the Wretched Shop.
Sure you can't see most auras with Insidious by default, but you can hear things. Listen for footsteps or repair sounds or unhook noises. Or use perks like Whispers to let you now when to be patient. Surveillance is really good for generator camping though as it opens up new doors. Take the Haddonfield or Badham houses for example. You can kick a very progressed generator to give it a white aura and chase the survivors out. Then hide in one room over and be patient. Once the aura turns yellow it's Frenzy Time!
-
@Shad03 Well to be fair I actually have managed to scare the piss out of some Ace in the Garage on Gas Heaven (fear the truck) with the first strategy.
I really feel like the second strategy would work wonders on the Plague's map.
You walk into a grand temple structure, isolated and alone, and then you see him.
A hooded man with a bloody knife staring at the floor, perhaps praying?
As you cautiously approach he suddenly spins around and charges at you with his knife raised and his breath heavy.
You desperately flee but it's no use and as he closes the gap you feel a sharp pain as his blade cuts through your very resolve.
Fearful of more punishment you keep running until you look back and realize, the man is gone.
You almost think that it was a trick of the light when your cut begins to sting.
A phantom roams these woods, beware his fury.
Also who needs auras when you can get Whispers and Surveillance?
-
@Plu Are you certain? @No_Mither_No_Problem Made some good points in his post:
Hi, in this thread, I'm going to go over every last piece of the Legion changes and give my honest-to-goodness thoughts on them. -
Okay guys, I've been thinking about bringing Insidious Legion back from the dead and I wanted some opinions:
Should I just play the game normally and then randomly start camping progressed generators (not finished generators, generators that survivors will come back to) and hooked survivors?
Or
Should I deliberately stand somewhere in the open with Insidious looking straight down and act like I'm AFK before spinning around and charging at whoever I heard get too close with Feral Frenzy? (I'd also later repeat this process of standing out and looking down while also randomly camping stuff.)
-
@No_Mither_No_Problem Initially I was upset with the changes but then I realized that using Insidious Legion is actually a good strategy now.
Before it was an okay strategy to scare folks, hide near hooks or progressed generators and wait until the right moment. Frenzy out of insidious and revel in the disarray and fear.
Now you can give someone deep wounds, make it look like you ran away with Monitor and Abuse and hide around a corner with Insidious. Then just pop right back over like the Koolaid man while they're mending and down them.
-
If I had voted yesterday I would have been very negative. However, over night I realized that the changes aren't that bad.
-
@Shad03 Well regardless I'd recommend that you consider practicing Legion and deliberately cancel Frenzy after you miss. The PTB may not be out, but we can attempt to simulate the upcoming phenomenons. Just count to 14 or
"The recharge time of Feral Frenzy is increased."
Darn.
-
@PB_TORCHer But Hillbilly already has a built in stamina meter, it's called collision.
Sure, everyone's favorite SPEEDY RUNNER/CRAZY DRIVER can run very quickly. However, the minute that he collides with an object he is stunned. Furthermore, after the stun or sprint there is a brief period where he cannot attack or use his chainsaw at all.
Hillbilly is balanced especially with add-ons. He can charge faster and steer better,but then his cooldown remains. He can charge faster and have a shorter cooldown, but then steering gets harder. He can have a shorter cooldown and good steering but a standard charge time then.
Regardless of what you put on Hillbilly while he will always be good there will always be a weakness. Above all of this, though is looping. He can't saw through solid walls so if you start looping he can either chase with the hammer or run off.
Hillbilly is the best killer from a balance standpoint because he has counters while remaining strong due to his high mobility.

Aw man, now that I have actually slept on the changes I can see that they really aren't that bad.
Each of the changes that concerned me were done simply to counter exploiters.
That "drain all frenzy on a miss"? Done to counter the swing spammers.
The "can't use frenzy unless the bar is full" was done so that pallets stuns actually mean something.
The "Frenzy hits don't drain Deep Wounds by default" was done to counter the garbage Legion's who could only get downs by tunnelling one sorry survivor with an easy to use obstacle ignoring power.
Lastly the "Deep Wounds" doesn't drain within the TR was done to counter moonwalkers.
So sure, some of our Frenzy's power got nerfed but it was out of necessity.
To compromise for the changes we got our base movement speed buffed and now the Iridescent Button will be a very useful add-on. Just bait a drop then frenzy vault.
It took some time to really think about the effects, but it's honestly not that bad.
I think Legion might be solid high mid-tier or low high-tier after this. They're a 115% speed killer that has the potential to shave the first 20 seconds off of a chase.
Overall it's a pretty good job so far.
-
@KiraElijah If they ever nerf Hillbilly, you know I'm coming back for your comments.
-
@Chaotic_Riddle I have a new song that embodies what Joey's Mixtape likely is. It also has zero correlation to any recent Legion developments.

* Peasant will remember that.
-
@KiraElijah Really? Interesting.
Say, how would you like to become a Spirit main?
-
Just re-read the post and now my head hurts. I both like the changes and hate them at the same time.
Though I definitely feel one thing from BHVR right now, if you are a console Legion main then courtesy of BHVR have a free:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gToA9jP_wAMThe entire power drain on a missed Frenzy hit just seems weird. On PC with a steady connection and a good stable frame rate this isn't so bad. It'll be annoying at times no doubt, but it's bearable.
But if you play on console with a connection that's iffy, a bad frame rate, and just generally have hits be easier to miss this just screws you. "But you have 115% or 4.6 m/s movement speed." So what, you're now a hooded and smaller Trapper, with no traps.
Hopefully it'll all be better than I'm initially perceiving it and the add-ons will make this all a blast but right now, I'm rightfully concerned and confused.
Also @Chaotic_Riddle Just out of sheer curiosity why are you so hyped for the Iridescent Button not needing a successful hit to activate?
-
@Crythor said:
Legion is now only a normal m1 killer his power is for traversing the map a bit faster and maybe to catch up after the first normal m1 hit then end it and hit m1 again.
Its just not worth to deep wound the target you wanna down and the rare occasion that a lot of survivors are very close for some fast wounds before you chase one of them to down with m1 is just not worth it.
@Crythor But that's the thing, you CANNOT activate Feral Frenzy after a successful normal hit because that drains the power bar. So Legion's entire power is quite frankly a free early hit. That's it.

Honestly, these changes don't sound so bad to me.
-
@MegsAreEvil I'm sorry but if you want to complain about camping please take your complaints to Mathieu Cote.
The actual game director is a camper, a huge one.
This guy would do the old "trap directly under the hook" trick and use insidious to hide nearby.
When they made it impossible to trap directly under the hook he switched to Hag and became a Hag hook camper.
Some people, the game's director included, like playing defensively. BHVR gave you tools to counter this. Borrowed Time, Kindred, Sprint Burst and Dead Hard all can help you counter camping. You can either use the tools given or not, but don't complain when digging a hole with just your hands hurts when there's a shovel, a trowel, a pickaxe, and some dynamite are all right next to you.

@DwightMainSimple, run Doctor with BBQ and Chili, Distressing, Thrill of the Hunt and Beast of Prey.
-
@ClogWench I main Legion and I honestly would want Legion to be the new trash tier. Doc always has the BP going for him so he'll never fall that low and is basically a better clown. Also I think it would be really stupid if the freaking poster boy of Dead by Daylight became the weakest killer.
-
@PhantomMask20763 Why would you need to look straight down as Freddy though?
*Raises eyebrow*
-
"New Thompson House re-balance, now killers just can't access the second floor at all, isn't that fun?!"
-
I'm with @Raptorrotas on this one. To paraphrase Uncle Dane: ", . . . balance (in Dead by Daylight) and most high skill ceiling video games for that matter should be balanced around the highest level of play first. In other words we should always be looking at a (killer) like this, if it is balanced for the highest level of play then it will be balanced for everything else beneath it."
Also, from Greg Street: ", It's worth pointing out that the more skilled players, and especially professionals . . . are the best at breaking your game; as they'll be better at exploiting balancing problems.

What about perks like whispers
@Angelicus23 What about perks like Spine Chill?

Look @BACKSTABBER if you want any information about this bug then find the bug reports thread on it.
Just remember that the developers are tracking all people who use this exploit and have the ban hammer already raised up for an overhead swing.
-
@Mushwin It's okay, you're safe now. We're the good ones.
-
I already hate the politic that devs think obout game. Both side must have fun... sure... lets then just render ALL "STRUGGLING FOR LIFE" usless!
@TimeMonster "All killers would get slowed down to 110%"
Why? Just, why? This is a horrible change and you know it.

@TreemanXD You need to press ENTER directly after the link before the forum does the thing.

Okay it's finally uploaded, my real final Darkest Forum upload, at least for today anyway:
https://youtu.be/gfT7TcRwTb4Featuring:
@Peasant - As a Crusader
@Hoodedfengm1n - As a Vestal
@Chaotic_Riddle - As a Jester
@Mushwin - As an Antiquarian
-
@Mushwin It is with great pleasure that I inform you that you were not a dude, though I do have some good news!
You have been resurrected! Alongside @Chaotic_Riddle
-
@Mushwin The game is called Darkest Dungeon. If that's of any help.
-

yay! i don't know what this is but i am in it and a part of it! :)
@Mushwin You must not have seen the ending of the video.
-
So I something weird happened today. I was playing Legion on the Plague's map when someone blinded me while I stood in the circle in the basement.
So now I'm here I guess?
Send help, please.
-
@Hoodedfengm1n I am afraid that Darkest Dungeon is not free. I think it's around $20.00 if I am not mistaken.
-
@Chaotic_Riddle How will the whole "baby situation" workout then?
-
@Kurisataru Well it might have been a forced DC. If the DC was accompanied with a sound then your anger is warranted. Though if the DC was silent then you're being angry at him for a network issue.
-
@No_Mither_No_Problem Okay, I use the forum on both PC and Mobile. Since you cannot delete names once they have been linked, spelling matters. So, in order to help me better memorize the names of people I frequently discuss things with on the forum I simply started naming Darkest Dungeon heroes after people who's names I wanted to consistently spell correctly.
The post that mentions you refers to the fact that I was going to upload a video clip of the hero with your name being a god when I decided to upload the dungeon run immediately after your man's rampage as it was more, interesting.
Does that answer your questions?
-
Well here's my last Darkest Forums video for a little while anyway. I was going to upload a video where our newest team member @No_Mither_No_Problem was a Leper that actually wrecked house with enough damage to frighten Phil Swift.
However, I immediately after that had a Ruins run that was far more, interesting.
So now I bring to everyone Darkest Forums: The Ruins (Fail 1)
The Heroes in this video are:
@Peasant II - As the Crusader
@Shad03 - As the Highwayman
@JoannaVO - As the Vestal
and last but certainly not the least
@Mushwin - As the Antiquarian
https://youtu.be/IvSYq5BUtGQ(Also if someone could count just how many heart attacks everyone had that'd be great. I'd do it myself but I personally want to forget this colossal failure.)
Also to just add salt to the wounds Delfador decided to go on a vision quest so now my only healer is DocOctober who's not bad, but not great either.
Also no Jesters arrived at the Stage Coach so I don't have Chaotic_Riddle II yet.
-
@SirPiggy You do realize that before that mori can even be used they have to hook you first, right, right?
Also, there's no guarantee that the "Secret Killer Offering" is even an ebony mori, it could be a cypress mori, or a shroud for Pete's sake!
-
1) New rarities: Eh not really necessary without new items but okay.
2) I'm with @Shad03 on this one, mostly anyway. Let killers see what toolboxes actually are present, etc.
3) Not sure what new item types we could get honestly. The Map's Glass Bead and Firecrackers can act as flares or beacons and adding survivor weapons just seems, wrong.
Maybe a pair of binoculars or something that zooms in your fov but puts you in first person while using it? I'm not really sure what to do here.
-
Anyway folks I actually did another dungeon run in between the collector wipe and Riddle's misfortune. So if you ever wanted to see what a standard Darkest Dungeon quest looks like here we go!
https://youtu.be/sRCqGqVnicwThis video features Peasant II - as the Crusader
@Hoodedfengm1n - as the battle Vestal
@Shad03 II - as an almost entirely melee Highwayman
and DocOctober II - as the Occultist
-
@Chaotic_Riddle Just another reason why I'm glad that this is in Off Topic and not killers. Imagine if your teacher snuck up behind you and saw you talking in a sub forums called "Killers."
