  • I run myannoying Doctor build when I have kicking generator challenges.

    Overcharge/Oppression/Dragons Grip/PGTW

Madness + Overcharge is a pain and then DG makes them exposed after I kick gen.

I did it for lolz but it ended up being semi effective. I run double calm add ons for huge TR for static blast

but what if i want to hit max MMR? I do not just wanna sit at "good" and be content because im playing a weak killer like Legion. I wanna hit max, but the balance of the game makes it impossible.

You will hit peak for your skill with that killer yes. If you improve then you could hit a higher MMR. Most people do well with some killers in particular, but if you are a good player then your strengths will cover up faults on some killers.

Im trying to not say git gud, but if you are limited by your skill sets then you will get stuck at your MMR ranks.

  • Not every killer has to be top tier. You can play any killer you want and will eventually settle into a good MMR ranking. I think every killer has a niche and could perform in the right hands. Scorpionz is great with Pig. Doctor and Huntress get fairly consistent kills. Cenobite, Ghostface, Bubba all perform decently as well.

Even Trickster and Twins can be viable. It depends on the playstyle and build tbh.

Dont forget Wraith. He's been getting so much traction lately and I bounce between him and Doctor as my mains

  • White theme, witch theme and skulls are blurry.

Its probably confirming boon totems (white witchcraft and skulls). We are probably getting a witch-themed survivor.

Im excited for boon totems from a survivor aspect (I like breaking bones), but as a killer im concerned because game is hard enough without having to go break bones

  • I've been playing killer mostly. Goal has to been to have fun with 0k in mind. Doing daily and rift challenges is also fun. I did my generator kicking doc build (overcharge, oppression, PGTW and dragons grip) for rift challenge and every pallet drop they were BMing me. Doc and Wraith are my best killers but I was playing for lolz and challenges. Survivors are more sweaty than usual.

  • How much do you get for each reset?

  • I played against him on Rotten Fields. The corn makes him essentially an M1 killer. At least Clown can miss and still get slowdown.

He did get 2k/2e though in that match

  • @Poochkips said:

I'm genuinely curious, as a huntress main, I can care less if I get all the survivors. As long as I get a couple good hatchets, I call it a win. Makes things much more enjoyable. How about you all? Survivor or killer, either or, what do you guys consider a win? Gens? Hitting with abilities? Totems? Long chases? Short Chases? etcetc.

If I'm doing challenges, thats a win in my book (take a protection hit 15 times, hit a survivor 10 times while exposed, etc.).

    In general though;

Killer: good match with good plays. If I'm playing my Hex Wraith build, I like to see Hex: DH get 3 stacks. I'm happy after that lol

Survivor: good chases, 4 WGLF stacks is fun. I actually looped a Nemesis the other day for more than 1 gen (usually i go down in 45 secs ). He ended up proxy camping, I got unhooked and he tunneled me. But then DS (1st time used since it was in Shrine of Secrets the ither day) set me free. Then he tunneled me and I was done again. But the chase was fun, I got 2 killer stuns as well!

  • I always DH into a wall lol

I run Lithe on my standard build (Lithe/Q&Q/BT/WMI). I have been trying to engage more in chases, rescue/heal teammates and do some gens. That's usually more than enough for me for a fun match

  • ASB Wraith can only see 12m while cloaked. This is one of the biggest maps with guaranteed multiple safe pallets in the halls. Each room with a gen has a flickering light bulb to indicate a gens inside. So, survivors shouldn't have toobmany issues finding gens or safe pallets.

If the gen in the main corridor goes, killer is now split between 2 sides of the map, of which is both up and down stairs.

I think its one of the harder maps for killers in general. Wraith/Spirit/Freddy/Cenobite will probably do better on this map because they can cover large distances very quickly. I'm assuming Cenobite because of his teleportation power.

  • PTB notes detail misc. Issues that were fixed with Cenobite. It sounds like chains could damage over time (maybe like Plague?) But they can be taken off by solving the box (Pig's Jigsaw Box), but then Cenobite can teleport to said boxes (Like Freddy). That's my understanding reading PTB notes but want to see official description and perk data

  • Screenshot_20210817-110918_Chrome.jpg

PTB notes don't show any power or perks yet. Sounds like power is related to chains bur they have to solve the puzzle to escape. But then he can transport to them while solving.

I'm thinking his power is a fusion of PH's trail of torment, Pig's Jigsaw boxes and Freddy's gen teleport ability

You are a lucky one then if you don't have any problems anymore. But that's not the case with most of the console player base. I'm lucky I got PS5 and don't have to suffer, but I'll still criticize BHVR for such a poor optimization.

I'm sure you've seen the now 95 paged thread about console optimization problems in these forums. And it's not only last gen consoles, it's started to affect mid/high-end PCs as well. BHVR doesn't communicate and they haven't fixed the problems permanently since the problems come back every other patch.

I have seen it, but I think that makes it harder tbf. If it was an issue that is common to all users on a certain platform, then the issues would be easier to identify. But since it varies even amongst similar platform users, the underlying factor may not be easily identified

I do agree that BHVR isn't great with communication (color blind fiasco left a sour taste), but I think they have been better when compared to previous times. I actually appreciated the 5.1.0 delay announcement. When the "next week update" time was coming up, they provided an update almost the same day.

I'm not defending them at all, I just think their coding across multiple platforms is a hot mess. I think they are splicing new codes into the messy nest which affects another issue since they are all connected (like pallet bugs).

Its either they need more people to just focus on going through all the coding (they can't afford a health patch and taking 6 months between DLC) or start planning for DBD 2 from ground up.

  • It takes a long time to get to EW3. If you can hide behind LOS and focus on gens, there's a good chance that you can do all 5 gens before he pops (happened a few times for me on certain maps). Big maps in general are a nightmare for him.

EW3 is hard, but he's essentially weaker for 70% of the match.

When I run EW3, I need Corrupt Intervention, Whispers, Discordance, and BBQ just to keep finding survivors to rank up, but ensure there's enough time to not get gen rushed.

I could, I've had the same 1000 auric cells for almost two years which I've used to buy the rift every time. Which means I would have to buy more auric cells if I wanted to continue to buy the rift and buy the ST cosmetics.

So no, I won't buy anything because that would mean I have to give BHVR money, which they don't deserve because of their terrible communication with the community and console problem ignorance.

    Console Problem Ignorance?

You know all patches have to be submitted to the respective companies (Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft) before being released to ensure the patches that BHVR puts through doesn't break the system itself. They delayed the 5.1.0 patch on the Switch most likely because the fix had issues with the system.

They compensated with BP and rift shards for the delay. They disabled video capture on the Switch, but it has been running close to perfectly since the release.

I don't know what system you are on, but they have been doing pretty good on Switch (its too dark, but that's a separate issue)

  • @BioX said:

You can do whatever you want, but think about this:

You are rewarding BHVR with more money....for spending less money on the game and thus on us.

You are giving them money they otherwise might not have gotten for NOT spending money themselves (of which we know they have an obscene amount compared to other devs) to just continue the license.

its your wallet, your choice, just know what you are doing.

How do you know it wasn't Netflix pulling out of the deal, or increasing the price of using their IP's once the agreement was up for negotiation? It could be BHVR, but it could also be Netflix (who could be money hungry and is facing more competition with Disney+, Paramount+, And even Peacock who has the Office).

Stranger Things is one of the strongest IP's that Netflix owns. The other strongest IP is Cobra Kai. Former is coming to an end so they could be anticipating loss in viewers, so they tried asking for a significant increase in price through BHVR to offset the loss and negotiations fell through.

I'm not saying this is what happened, but I think there's a lot at play here and we probably won't find out due to NDA's in place.

Currently doing an archive where i have to hit survivors as clown while invigorated. If i use the vhs poon, does hitting the survivor with the yellow antidote count?

You need to hit them while invigorated yes. Purple/yellow is only cosmetic. VHS porn just discourages survivors from running through it since they think its the tonic and not the antidote.

  • Depends on game tbh.

Pokemon gets data mined all the time and the storyline/pokedex is a key part of the games. If people don't like the leaks, they won't buy the game so Nintendo loses all sales. So, in that case leaks are bad.

For DBD, they are constantly adding new characters that can't be data mined that far into the future. Most of the income is through outfits, rift pass etc. Leaks can probably help most of the time hype up more since people already own the game.

  • I think Boon Totems will have this functionality:

-survivor has to find and convert a totem to a boon totem

-by doing this, it activates the effect until one of the following occurs; 1. Set duration timer (i.e. 4.6 movement speed for next 3 minutes) 2. Killer breaks totem or 3. Another survivor converts the boon totem to their own boon totem.

-once a boon totem is broken or converted the original user can be modified. I'd they get downed.

This will be the decisions that survivors have to make that will affect Mori interactions. Do you bring a risky perk for great effects at the potential of being killed, or do you convert your teammates boon totem at their expense?

I think the battle over totems will make an interesting play that could slow down the game more. This will engage bones on both sides while addressing NOED

  • My overall experience was good overall. My normal killer main matches were harder while my never used killer was mixed. 1st match as Clown was sweaty with 1k, but second match was 3k and a hatch.

Survivor match wasn't terrible. I did die, but it felt like a good fun match against a huntress.

    Overall I give it 7.5/10

  • I played my 2nd ever match as Clown yesterday. They got 3 gens done quickly, but once I hooked 2 of them in a corner if Haddonfield as 4th gen popped, it went downhill for them quickly. They began diving the hooks for exchanges and I racked up like 4 more hooks very quickly. Then it was a 2k with 1 gen left. I ended up getting 3k and a hatch escape.

But when I play my normal mains of Doctor and Wraith, they are a lot smarter.

  • Survivor: had 1 match against a huntress. She had 1k (me), but I was giving her the runaround most of the match and I believe she got like 6-7 hooks.

Killer: first matches with my normal mains were easy. Had a match this afternoon with Doctor and it was harder.

Overall I think its going okay. I've given up on trying to be sweaty so I play what I want and hope to have fun lol

I would be more willing to read hard into the fact it's 8 8th notes if not for the fact Twitter only has two musical note emojis. But then again, does 8 8 mean anything to anyone?

    8 8th notes is a full measure

We had 7 A's in US (7 is symbol for perfection)

We had 5 A's in Japan (5 represents a complete set)

So i think its another reference to completion or perfection.

I don't think its musical related since we had All Kill chapter.

So I'm thinking the symbolic route of full measures, completion and perfection is more likely. Even this whole scavenger hunt is tedious (R was hidden in profile picture once you opened it, S/E were hidden, 2 i's in Circus). This tedious hunt will result in a killer

Makes me think Hellraiser because you have to figure out the box/cube and your prize? Hellraiser.

  • Well it depends. If I got 4 stacks of BBQ, then I'll be nice. If you are the last one and weren't hooked, then I'm probably going to hook you. Its an extra 25% BP so its hard to pass up tbh.

  • One of my favorite builds atm is Hex: DH, Hex: Haunted Ground, Hex: Undying and BBQ on all seeing blood/coxcombed Clapper Wraith.

4 totems up: 50% chance to trigger Haunted Ground, which will give me a 2nd round later on since Undying covers it.

3 totems up: 66% chance of triggering HG.

DH/undying is strong, but HG can get me 2 stacks very quickly. I don't run any slowdown perks (Ruin, Corrupt, Thano, Sloppy) since I want them to do gens. Once I get 3 stacks and Undying is still up, it may be GG at that point. Ill Mori 1 person if 3 gens are left, Mori 2 people if 2 gens left. If there's 1 gen left, in going to slug and then Mori both if im feeling that way lol

  • @Adeloo said:

I mean you only talk about the ones you wanted to talk about, but i can give you : Fire Up or Coup de Grâce on the killer side or Lucky Break on the survivor side for examples :D

[EDIT] here are more : Desperate Measures, Flip-Flop, Iron Will, Kindred, Power Struggle, Resurgence, Self-Care, Tenacity, This is not Happening, Unbreakable, Bitter Murmur, Bloodwarden, Cruels Limits, (Discordance), (Dragon's Grip), Enduring, Lethal Pursuer, Spies from the Shadows, Terriorial Imperative, Tinkerer, Unrelenting, Whispers.

Ok not all of them are for being bad but all of them gives you an advantage without you needing to do anything.

I guess we need to ban perks then because they give us advantages Lol

  • Yup. Most survivors get jumpy and once they see the red stain they do it prematurely.

There are some great DH or strategic DH (DH to pallet or window), but most of the time they DH into dead zones or bad loops.

  • @Mineguy said:

These perks are so bad for a competitive gam and it's so sad that there are so popular....

Dead hard: You get rewarded for being bad at looping and mind gaming. You ######### up but still win because you press E

Noed: You get rewarded for giving no pressure to the survivors and lose all the gens. Being able to kill multiple people with a one shot down and speed boost.

    Both perks need a rework.

DH: killer just has to bait it out, nbd. If you haven't seen an exhaustion perk on that survivor, then assume its DH. With DS change, DH is common.

NOED: literally just do bones as survivor. Unless killer is running an endgame build, the killer may be struggling, go do bones. Its extra points and prevents NOED. You can run Small Game, Detectives Hunch or Counterforce.

  • Q&Q, Lithe, Diversion, Dance With Me

Classic Houdini build. You pebble far away and then ghost the killer using Q&Q, Lithe and DWM.

    Deception/Head On/Small Game/Inner Strength/Decisive Strike/Flashbang

Between Deception/Head On you can mindgame killer. Did you go in locker to head on or did you use deception? I like Small/Inner Strength for synergy with lockers, but then you can use DS/Flashbang for extra lolz. You do gen, you hide in locker, craft flashbang, Head On, back in locker, get grabbed, DS, drop flashgang and run away lol

  • @PsychoTron said:

Silent Bell isn't the problem because 'Bone Clapper' (can't discern the Bell's distance or direction) addon is a perfectly suitable substitution.

The Aura Read of survivors while cloaked for 12 meters is just a bit too much IMO. I think it should be outright removed or at the very least nerfed to 8 meters instead.

I went against these 2 addons a few times, and played these 2 addons twice so far, and.. ... just get rid of the aura read.

    50/50 survivor/killer btw.

    I'd say play more with this combo and you'll realize its shortcomings. This is one of my favorite combos, but keep in mind a few issues;

    No decreased reappearance time

No super lunge with faster speed

Isn't running Shadow Dance for fast vaults

Spine chill and windows are still a thing for him.

This combo carried me from to 10 easily, but I'm hitting a wall because these purple/red survivors are all running Spine Chill and good exit strategies

After so much grinding (FUN!😕) through the event and the blood hunt, I don't see much need to play DBD right now. In fact, I could see myself enjoying a nice long break. Anyone else?

I'm getting back into Splatoon. Diablo 2 is coming out next month and Shining Pearl after that. Then my 2nd son will be born. Theres a good chance I may be done for a while lol

just ran into a doctor who hooked a survivor who looped him for 3 mins straight, once he was on teh hook he stared into his face spamming his special move constantly so nobody could unhook him, he slipped up at the very last second letting me unhook our dwight.

the doctors special ability needs to be on a 0.5 or 1.0 second longer cd so he cannot spam it to make it literally impossible to unhook other players.

Or you can go do gens. 3 minute chase and 2 minutes camping is more than enough time to do 5 gens between 3 survivors. If you go to rescue Dwight you take a resource off of gens. Its better to slam gens and leave rather than try to rescue against a camper and risk being grabbed.

  • Ive been around since last August-September. I've enjoyed the style and design of all the chapters in some way

  • @WexlerWendigo said:

I say this as a console player, but I usually leave a lobby with more than one other console player. Just from experience, console players typically die two seconds into the match, throw pallets instantly, refuse to do gens, etc.

This is even more true for default/free outfits Megs for example, and I usually would rather wait for another lobby than deal with that.

Its kind of judge-y tbh. I'm on console and am usually one of the last people alive. I'm altruistic, objective and am not afraid to get into chases. I run Elodie with her Christmas sweater.

Build is usually BT/Q&Q/Lithe/WHLF or We'll Make It

  • I did a stupid build the other day with Doctor. I actually got a DC and a 3K. My goal was to just damage gens for Tome lol

    Dragon's Grip

    Overcharge

    Oppression

    PGTW

add in madness with double calm add ons and they were blowing skill checks left and right and becoming exposed after touching a gen i just kicked. This was on RCPD map too.

  • Hex builds are high risk/high reward. You could run Counterforce which gives you faster stackable totem cleansing speeds.

I run Hex: HG, Hex: Undying, Hex: DH and BBQ on All Seeing Blood Wraith. If my totems get cleansed early then I'm just aura reading Wraith lol

  • Hillbilly has been rare for me. I think last one i saw was almost 2-3 months ago. Twins, Clown, Myers are probably the next rarest.

I'm rank 17, but have been playing more survivor since the anniversary and bloodhunt (got to rank 10 with Wraith currently)

    Lithe

    Borrowed Time

I'm curious how other players view DBD.

Considering how imbalanced each game can be, maps can favor one side over the other, certain Killer, add-on and perk combos are completely broken and, the wide desparity between levels of play that matchmaking fails to separate, I don't see how anyone can sit down to play DBD for anything more than a bit of fun.

In actual tournament settings the organizers have to set specififc standards to try to midigate these factors. Using only Yellow add-ons, choosing specific moderate maps and Survivor teams planning synergy in perks, specific roles and style of play. All of these moderating factors are non-existant in a normal game of DBD.

I'm Survivor main and, I mostly play solo, sometimes with friends if they happen to be on but, we certainly don't meta-game. Yet, we constantly face sweaty Killers who decide to use the most oppressive, broken set ups to destroy the team as quickly as possible and make use of all manner of not fun tactics such as slugging, camping, tunneling, ect. to secure a 4K.

It seems to me that a majority of Killer mains take the game seriously competively, while the Survivors are goofing around, dropping hooks, doing challenges and sand-bagging eachother, lol.

I know my experience is Survivor biased but, I can honestly say, I don't play to "win", I play for fun.

I'm a killer main but enjoy both (65/35) . I enjoy playing the builds i like (i.e. all seeing wraith with Hex:DH, Scratched Mirror Myers, etc.). I just got to rank 10, and survivors are super sweaty in purple/red ranks. 15-11 were fun ranks as everybody was chill. But once I started seeing the higher ranks, matches became less fun. I try not get flustered, but I had a Meg troll me the entire time. They were rank 4 and tried to bait chases, flashlight clicking, etc.. When I finally downed her I actually gave a little smack on hook and then tunneled her out when her teammates hook bombed.

Needless to say, I wouldn't have done that if they had played normally without the extra actions.

I think some killers are sweaty, but I think survivors are more sweaty in general. It could be due to them having to wait a longer time for potentially less BP.

So I have cross platform turned off so I know it's not due to consoles optimization problems. But The 5th year anniversary event is over, X2 is over, shouldn't everyone be using their cakes now? Or are we waiting for something?

I have 30 cakes on Spirit, but have been playing more Wraith lately. I wish common items should be exchangeable between characters. If I'm leveling up a character im not a huge fan of, but want the perks unlocked, I'm going to get cakes, BPS that may never get used.

Right now I have multiple matches worth of Wraith add ons that I like (all seeing blood and black wards). Once I begin to get low, ill switch to Spirit and will use cakes. I get more BP as Wraith (25-31k) while Spirit is usually only 20-25k. So cake offerings will put Spirit more than Wraith.

I was also on Switch during Bloodhunt

(For my own personal fun, most of the time.) The one thing that has remained consistent throughout all my years though is 2 things. Legacy players and 4 stacks. I don't think i have ever accepted a match against a 4stack swf or a legacy. Undeniably i am a bit of a coward, but i really hate sweating in this game so i try to go for casual lobbies. I think out of all the new perks for the resident evil chapter Rookie Spirit is easily the worst out of them all. It's not that good and I can't think of a build to even include with it.

How would you change Rookie Spirit? It doesn't have to be meta just more viable.

Rookie Spirit i think is very good for soloq and even SWF. Each of the generator perks have different strengths:

Rookie Spirit: all regressing gens across the whole map is revealed to you. Especially helpful with Ruin/Undying nerf. Once Ruin is gone killer has to resort to damaging gens. You can track killer and gens to some degree.

Deja Vu: as a killer its important to secure a 3 gen. Deja Vu destroys that. By breaking up a 3 gen, you increase patrolling distance making it harder for killer to defend. Deja Vu is big brain strategy with endgame in mind, if used correctly.

Visionary: probably the weakest gen perk imo. You get limited information (32m) and its disabled when a gen is complete. It doesn't help you find gens across the map, it doesn't help you avoid the 3 gen, and it disables when you need it to move to next gen.

Detectives Hunch: a great info perk that reveals pretty much everything within 64m. Its a short window, but at least gives you options for your next objective (gen, totem or chest). You can even automatically track using a map

    • demogorgon: If i'm feeling fancy, he is my boy
    • Doctor: I really love playing anti heal doc, one of the few easy build where i can pressure survivor without bringing gen regression, and also i just put nurse calling as my 4th perk and just stare at the survivor desperatly trying to heal behind cover

Your top 3 killers are essentially the same as mine! Demo, Doctor and Wraith are fun to use!

I am new to the forums but have been playing this game on and off for 4 years now. After lurking the forums for a long time, I decided to make an account.

I thought it would be fun or interesting to see who's everyone's main and what the reason is.

My survivor main has recently become Yun Jin. I like her because of her cosmetics. They're really colorful and fun to combine. You can really create pop star looks with her and I love that. Only downside is almost having to cover my ears when being hooked lol.

My killer main is Deathslinger. I won't call myself a good Deathslinger (a friend says I am but I completely disagree). I just play him much more than other killers. His power is so fun to use and the feeling of landing a good shot feels really good and rewarding. I really hope that I'll eventually get really good at him. The downside for him though is that he gets punished really hard for missing shots which makes him a bit inconsistent.

Yun Jin's groans when she's being carried always makes me laugh lol

Survivor: Elodie. BoK was my first new chapter since playing. I liked her story and her general style. Her scream was ear piercing and made me jump 1st time I heard it as Doctor lol

Killer: Doctor was my first main. I enjoyed his ability to find survivors quickly and deny actions. Recently I've been enjoying Wraith a lot. All Seeing Blood + Coxcombed Clapper is a fun combo lol even with aura reading im enjoying the mind games. I just got to Rank 10 with Wraith and purple/red survivors are getting sweaty lol

For me it usually involves a lot of alcohol as it helps take the sting off being steamrolled over and over 😄. I love using different builds. Granted most of the time it doesn't usually give me a win, but I hate relying on the same meta builds over and over.

My latest fun build for survivor is something I dub "The Hex Destroyer". I combine Small Game and Counteforce. Simply put, I got tired of getting hit with NOED in the end game because my teammates didn't cleanse any totems, so I decided to take it upon myself to make sure that doesn't happen. And honestly, I've been having a lot of fun with it! YOUR HEX IS NO LONGER SAFE FROM ME!

Totems are fun to get rid of! Each hex totem gives you 1500 BP. Doing 2 hex and 3 dull gives you 6000 BP on objective

Yeah it stinks. Hopefully its just a temporary issue until they work it out with Nintendo.

I enjoy recording good plays and watching them back.
