A while back, a developer (Ethan I think) commented on this. They don't want you to hit somebody and then immediately sprint up again with Frenzy. If I had to guess, it's because they think it messes with Legion's intended game flow - seeing a healthy survivor, popping Frenzy and getting as many chain hits as possible. It's also a leftover from the time where Frenzy was lethal and could be activated at any time, instead of only when fully charged, to limit how long Frenzy could go / how commonly it could be used. But frankly I don't think this is necessary at all. Why would anyone go for an M1 and then catch all the way up with Frenzy when they could have just hit them in Frenzy first, and then continued to run and cancel their power next to the survivor?

It's just one of the many restrictions they put on Legion in the Great Legion Nerf of 2019(?), heavily nerfing almost every aspect of their power to brute-force the completely broken Legion into a state where he didn't cause mass DCs in every single game. They've just never bothered to remove it.

some of the legion nerfs arent 100% needed anymore. there are a relic of old broken legion

How are you getting punished after landing an hit?

Losing half your power for getting an M1 is getting punished. You are getting your power drained for hitting someone, you are losing something. thats a punishment. Theres no reason it should happen

I find I have to run at least corrupt and ruin with bbq (for the grind) leaving 1 perk (depending on which killer I use).

How about the rest of you? Do you feel you need to run gen regression perks?

I run 2 at the minimum. I run Ruin and switch between Corrupt and Pop usually. Might throw Surge on as well for 3 gen perks, just depending on the killer

  • @StarLost said:

    I'll start.

    Nemesis:

    • Empty Rocket Launcher (Uncommon). You now have 4 zombies active on the map, but you no longer gain mutation from killing zombies.
    • Poisonous Hunter Claws (Uncommon). Infecting a survivor with your tentacle strike also injures them.
    • Purified Virus (Common). Any survivor that is killed while infected spawns a zombie at their location.

    Legion:

    Susie’s Backpack Pin

Description: Blue Pin worn on Susie’s backpack during both her school and delinquent adventures.

    Rarity: Purple/ Very Rare

Effect: All pallets vaulted during frenzy are blocked for 5 seconds. The same pallet cannot be blocked more than once.

Despite the motherlode of changes that 5.3.0 will bring to many older killers, there are still some other killers that could use an add-on pass.

I'd love to see an add-on pass for Freddy, Myers, Ghostface, Pyramid Head, and Nemesis.

In Freddy's case, his only good add-ons are the ones that recharge his teleport faster; all his other add-ons give mostly useless information.

In Myer's case, first, Tombstone Piece could use some rebalancing. Second, he doesn't need 3 add-ons for movement speed while stalking.

Ghostface is in a similar situation as Myers; he doesn't need 2 add-ons for movement speed while stalking especially when you're mostly leaning to stalk. Also, his add-ons that make it harder for survivors to break him out of stealth are frustrating to go against.

For Pyramid Head, everyone knows his only good add-ons are the range increase for Punishment of the Damned.

Lastly Nemesis could use some tweaks. He is far too dependent on his add-ons that increase his mutation rate. The zombie add-ons are fine, but his Licker Tongue, Jill's Sandwich, Iridescent Umbrella Badge, and the add-ons that affect supply case opening time, vaccine use time and extend killer instinct upon vaccine use are all pretty useless.

Keeping 5.3.0 in mind, what other killers do you want add-on passes for? Do you agree that these killers' add-ons need changes?

Legion. They have some outright awful useless add ons. And even their “best” add ons aren’t as good Compared to other killers

Yeah they don’t touch it. I’m saying they are at a gen, presumably about to start working on it as a go to patrol it. And I catch them and start a chase

Isn't it just Frank's Mix Tape? Which is really bad add-on for Legion...

    Changes I would do:

    QoL changes:

    • The Legion may see the blood pools of injured Survivors during Feral Frenzy.
    • Feral Frenzy begins to replenish at the start of the fatigue state.
    • The depletion of Feral Frenzy pauses while performing the break, damage and search interactions.

    Buffs:

    • Feral Frenzy’s movement speed is increased to 6 m/s after applying Deep Wound.
    • Feral Frenzy’s fatigue state is 3 seconds and a missed Feral Frenzy attack prompts a 4 second fatigue state.

Do this and I am happy Legion main. Maybe some add-on rework would be nice too.

    This 100% ^^^

One of my ideas was Leatherface with:

    • Deadlock
    • NOED
    • No Way Out
    • BBQ (Just for extra points)

It can be any killer with any perks, but dont include addons nor offerings as they would be wasted.

As a legion player I enjoy running. Ruin, Shadowborn, Thanatophobia, and either Corrupt intervention or Lethal Pursuer

    For whatever reason.

Mine has to be a game from about a year ago, that prompted me taking a lengthy break from the game. I have a feeling that it was before the 'afk crows' were added.

Was playing Bubba, enemy team was a full SWF.

They switched to 4x Blendettes at the last second. Map was Haddonfield.

I'm usually a 'good guy' killer - I won't usually tunnel or camp, unless you either start teabagging/flashing me or I haven't gotten a kill and there is 1-0 gens left.

Naturally, they start off cocky, flicking and taunting me. So I nabbed one, and downed another when they came to unhook.

After I killed 1, the others decided to sulk - and spent the next almost hour playing hide and seek in the bushes. Not doing gens or anything, just stalling the game out forever. Took me ages. Finally killed them, and they raged in endgame chat. Apparently it's fine to switch to an annoying comp last second and act the fool in game, but camping is just too far.

A close second would be back when there were certain parts of the 'farm' map, where a downed survivor could crawl between doodads and you'd be unable to pick them up...

    How about you?

Every game on legion at high MMR becomes my most frustrating. That Killer is a chore to play now a days

  • @NekoTorvic said:

Here's the thing. I think generators are a big problem in this game, and this problem is in part exacerbated because gen perks can stack with each other or sometimes are strong enough on certain killers that they make it so that if you nerf gens, you'll just leave the survivors at the mercy of all of this gen regression which will make the game impossible for them.

I genuinely think that if you want to make the game healthier overal, you need to make gen regression perks much less appealing and above all you need to massively limit or remove ways in which those perks interact with each other. This seems like it's crazy given the current meta and how fast gens go, but I honestly, truly benlieve it's the only way to be able to balance the game properly.

So here's a few suggestions of what i think should happen with gen perks and some general gen stuff. Keep in mind, that this is not intended as just a "nerf killers" kinda thing. The idea is to nerf this, to start addressing other game issues.

First a few base changes to gens:

    • Gens cannot regress or be damaged while blocked, and they cannot be damaged while regressing.
    • Basic kicks do 1% gen regression + 1% extra per new survivor hooked in the trial for a total of 5% if you hook every survivor, -1% per dead survivor. Immediately it gives you a tangible reward for going for multiple survivors instead of punishing you for no reason if you think you need to tunnel. It will also mean that you're not at a massive disadvantage for choosing not to use gen defense and focusing more on other areas. Also, it counters gen tapping. Also, it rewards you for doing what you're supposed to do, which is outplay survivors and hook them.

    Now for gen perks:

    • Corrupt Intervention: Blocks 3 farthest gens from you at the beginning of the trial. Once the time is up, survivors get a global warning sound. Once this happens, the entity will permanently block the gens, and only will let them go when a survivor starts working on them. This means that corrupt cannot stack with ruin or pop since you won't be able to kick gens anymore and it shouldn't stack with surge either.
    • Ruin: Gens regress at current ruin speed. However, once ruin is cleansed for good, a lingering curse will remain. Gens will no longer regress and can no longer be damaged. Meaning it no longer stacks with pop, or surge since you won't be able to kick gens anymore. Massive risk for massive reward, if the hex is cleansed you better worry about those gens, you don't have a plan B anymore.
    • Pop Goes the Weasel: Reduce damage to 20%. Stacks with basic kicks. Reduce timer to 10 seconds. This is to prevent a killer from using surge on a gen that's close, then using pop on a gen really far away.
    • Surge: Remove its cooldown. Make it work like infectious, any time a survivor gets downed basic attack or power. Tune it down to 5%. If the gen blows up while a survivor is working on it, give a 1s grace period so the survivor can let go of it and the gen doesn't stop regressing. This is to prevent it from stacking with basic kicks if the survivor chooses to let go of it.
    • Oppression: Reduce it's cooldown by at least half or make it recharge when you hook a survivor. Applies effects of basic kicks to each gen affected. Negates pop goes the weasel. As in, oppression's effect of damaging multiple gens will trump Pop's big damage on one gen.
    • Eruption: Can be left as is, maybe you can even get rid of its cooldown, stacks with basic kick effect. Same as oppression, the gen marking effect trumps pop's big damage. It also doesn't work with Oppression. Oppression would blow up 3 gens and unmark them from Eruption, Eruption would mark a gen and not blow 3 of them up. Again the idea is to break gen regression synergy.
    • Dead Man's Switch: Once the obsession has been hooked, it picks a new survivor at random to make your obsession. If they're working on a gen when they become your obsession, reveal each other's auras for 3 seconds.
    • Thrilling Tremors: applies once per downed survivor until that survivor is picked up and downed again or hooked, rescued and downed again. Entity blocks you from kicking generators for the next 35 seconds after the effect of this perk. This is to prevent this perk from stacking with pop.

PS: the only synergy i think i didn't break fully is the synergy between Pop and Surge. You could still use it on gens that are less than 10 second away with mobility killers. If you have any ideas for that feel free to share.

You could also conceivably pair Ruin with Corrupt to patrol the 4 non blocked gens. But eventually corrupt will run out and ruin will be useless, so I don't know if it's a problem with these changes.

TLDR: Make it so that gen regression perks do not stack with each other and don't offer plan A and plan B type scenarios. Then balance the game around the fact that gens regression can't be stacked as much.

No. I can’t even begin to describe how awful this is. Playing killer at high MMR is already terrible, I bring up to 3 gen Defense perks some games and gens still fly vs efficient teams. This would be horrendous.

  • Agreed. The fact legion didn’t get a single mention is super disappointing to be honest. I love legion but playing them at high MMR is ######### impossible. There are so many small buffs they need that they could easily, I just think the devs are afraid to touch them after breaking them unfortunately. Even though I think legions design is quite good now and they could easily be tweaked.

Let's not be unfair. Key changes are just a bit below. As long as they listen to feedback, I feel this will be one of the best patches DBD ever got.

The Hatch and key weren’t just an “unfun” mechanic. though. They were a design flaw and broken. Slinger is neither of those

  • @Kebek said:

Because devs like to adress unfun things for survivors. That's all nice and dandy but they could have at the very least buffed some other impactful aspects of him, not 1 single useless buff that does literally nothing.

They’ll never address unfun things for killers though.. got it.

  • @Crowman said:

Because survivors complained he wasn't fun to play against despite having many weaknesses. That's literally it.

sounds about right. Such a joke

  • usually makes me feel sad. As no gen defense leads to gens flying every 5 seconds.

Fair, but how much is bamboozle going to help then?

won't high mmr survivors just leave to a different tile when you go for vaults?

bamboozle can force high MMR survivors away from tiles they can exploit though. If a survivor is at a god jungle gym, you can bamboozle the window and force them to use pallet or make them rotate to a T-Lwall or to a more unsafe loop. You can use it to zone them from the god loops. (Although god pallets/loops shouldn’t be in the game in the first place IMO) but that’s a whole diff story.

  • @Phasmamain said:

So nerfing a blatantly broken killer is a bad thing? Guess a balanced game isn’t a good thing to strive for

As a killer Main, I’m okay with nerfing spirit. I’ve felt spirit was indeed strong. But problem is, why are so many killers left to be so piss poor? Why has legion, pig, etc. just been left to rot and be garbage. Why is less than 15%. of the killer roster viable at the highest MMR. Why are gen speeds still so fast? My issue with nerfing spirit is the fact is that now they’re are now only 2 viable killers while gen speeds are still ridiculous and survivors are still in the hot seat.

  • @Sonzaishinai said:

People always say this but i personally don't like chase perks that much.

It's not that Legion can't use them but (imo) they are generally so bad i find it better to just run something else and rely on pure m1 mindgames to get downs.

The only chase perk i would concidder using is enrelenting

The problem is high MMR survivors don’t fall for mind games in M1 chases. So that becomes an unviable strat once you hit a certain MMR.

  • @Foxy_Teltac said:

I run BBQ, Pop, Surge and Thana and I'm doing decent in chases but the build still falls short to SBMM, my guess is that it's Thana that's not pulling through, so I need some help choosing a good replacement. Chase perk, slowdown or something else?

Legion is an M1 killer who has nothing to help them down. Bring a perk to help you in the chase to secure that M1. Bamboozle, I’m all ears, etc.

  • @SMitchell8 said:

I've played solo for over 4 years and all killers are STILL a threat to me and will kill me if I don't play well or keep out of trouble.

Blight, Oni, Hag can all beat good survivors and are completely 'viable'

well Blight is a top 3 killer so yes, and Oni, and Hag are A tier killers so they are solid. those 2 are not viable at max MMR though.

  • For a while now there were 3 killers viable at the highest MMR. Nurse, Spirit, and Blight. reading these spirit changes means we are getting PTB Spirit, but worse. Spirit was very strong and I agree changes needed to be made, but I feel they went overkill. This killer will not function at the highest MMR anymore. Now we are down to 2, I wonder who goes next.

  • @Patrick1088 said:

Not every killer has to be top tier. You can play any killer you want and will eventually settle into a good MMR ranking. I think every killer has a niche and could perform in the right hands. Scorpionz is great with Pig. Doctor and Huntress get fairly consistent kills. Cenobite, Ghostface, Bubba all perform decently as well.

Even Trickster and Twins can be viable. It depends on the playstyle and build tbh.

Dont forget Wraith. He's been getting so much traction lately and I bounce between him and Doctor as my mains

but what if i want to hit max MMR? I do not just wanna sit at "good" and be content because im playing a weak killer like Legion. I wanna hit max, but the balance of the game makes it impossible.

  • @R2k said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2513609#Comment_2513609

Then go watch Otz making tier list and explaining why half the killers are unplayable against decent suvivors not to mention competetive teams.

    exactly ^^

Once it's bait you'll know it, just watch otz and streamers like him getting 4k's each match with any killers they play you wonder why's that? Oh it's because he practiced and has invested his time into game instead complaining on forum and I'm playing trapper and Demo only and I get 4k 97% of times and they are considered lowest tier killers... So instead typing how unplayable they are on forums go and practice with them

double good bait. even otz himself that you praise so much has said that a handful killers are not viable and need help. also where are you pulling that 97% stat from? can i see proof, thats a very exact number.

  • @justbecause said:

Every killer is viable in any ranks it's u who's isn't able to play them correctly

nice bait buddy, made my morning

  • A little over 2 years. Was hoping I’d come back to the game and legion would have been made decent. I was and am still disappointed that legion is not good. Actually they’re even worse.

I definitely wouldn’t say you have to run multiple (or even any) slowdown perks, but if someone is complaining that the match went fast and they were running Thana then yeah, there are much better options.

At high MMR. Yes you do, or you will get 4 man escaped on almost every game. Gens fly to fast vs efficient survivors

  • @miketheratguy said:

Nurse is probably 60/40 in my experience. The other day, while rare, we all escaped a Spirit who was using survivor pudding. Blight's gotten up there but so has Wraith, regardless of how many killer mains want to protect him from criticism. Hag and Ghostface are still super sneaky, cheap killers. People main Trickster enough to be decent with him now. Pinhead is doing fine. I've seen people killed, or been killed by, everyone from Deathslinger to Demogorgon. Leatherface is still guaranteed to get at least one kill, especially if he camps like he pretty much always does. I get 4Ks with Doc on a regular basis.

My point is that this is anecdotal but no, I disagree that only a negligible percentage of the killers in this game are effective.

Yes almost every killer is "effective" at Low MMR. Im talking about high MMR here dawg

No. The content "creators" have spoken. BHVR must do as they say.

All I said was that they made suggestions and BHVR should think about some their ideas that they bring to the table, not immediately send them live. Making this seem bigger than it actually is lmao

  • @Phasmamain said:

The best course of action imo is to nerf the top 3 and then balance around that instead. Much easier than making every killer nurse/spirit strength

We would have to nerf the survivor side very heavily as well, as they are only viable because they are the only ones strong enough to stand a shot vs high MMR survivors. but it could work yeah. I can agree to an extent

  • @ThiccBudhha said:

Small tweaks aren't going to change 90% of the killer roster. Lol.

There is not even a point to slightly change killers to be perfectly honest. Qol changes are nice, but it would be easier to just wait and hope the next killer is usable.

I would rather they just build on what they have instead of just cash grabbing and pumping out DLC after DLC and hoping something sticks. and while small buffs will not make killers viable, It will still help them overall/

4-5? Buddy how about 2... Nurse & Spirit. I'd really say ONLY NURSE.

I was referring to higher MMR not THE HIGHEST. and at the highest MMR in a truly competitive setting there are 3. Nurse, Spirit, Blight.

  • @Yui_TheBeauty said:

Improve your map pressure and run better generator regression perks, don't stay in one chase 24/7 and do nothing that involves not hunting the survivors, your fault for failing to do that.

The fact killers have to run 2-3 gen regression perks shows just how broken gen speeds are lol.

  • @xenotimebong said:

Thana isn’t really great slowdown. I’d maybe revisit your build to see if there are better perks you could be taking.

Also, recording your games and watching them back is pretty enlightening. You’ll see things you might have missed, mistakes you made, and places where you could have snowballed or maybe pressured better. Also posting a video here and asking for feedback will usually get you some useful advice in terms of mistakes you may be making.

Finally, gg go next. It was just one match. While annoying, it’s a drop in the bucket and you won’t even remember that match a month from now. Take a breath, have some water and move on to the next one.

The fact killers have to run so many slow down perks to counteract the ridiculous gen speeds is a flaw imo. It shows just how crazy gen speeds are, especially if you do not play the top 3 killers.

  • No clue, I do not personally BM for no reason. I only BM if i get BMd first, if the last player has been clicking and t-bagging all game and I down them. I might just shake my head "no" at them for 2-3 seconds and then put them on the hook. And end the game, I would never slug someone and extend the game for minutes. I am someone that tries to get out of games as quickly as possible, and get into the next one ASAP.

The game has always been survivor sided, and I know plenty of killer mains are quite angry and upset as they feel there role has been neglected, killer IS a harder and more stressful role. And they feel they are not being rewarded for playing it and feel it is unfair. Maybe the built up anger after all these years has effected a lot of killers, especially with survivors BMing being unfortunately incredibly common. With the t-bagging, flashlight clicking, etc. that I mentioned earlier. But I still have 0 idea why this would all boil over all of sudden, the only thing I could possibly think that has changed very recently is MMR. But i do not see how that would make them more toxic.. who knows bro

  • I was a consistent rank 1 killer for years. And I just got back into the game, I’ve gotten my mmr pretty high on legion, so I think so.

  • @SunderMun said:

Holy ######### I've never seen so many back to back games where a killer facecamps a minute into a game. This is ridiculous and just proves the point: devs' lack of willingness to bother fixing this, rather than being lazy and letting it destroy games is out of hand now.

At higher MMR, it's pretty much all you see now. It's not fun, it's not fair, and it's making the game incredibly difficult to swallow. Either SBMM needs to be turned off, or this ######### needs dealing with.

As soon as they deal with the ridiculous gen speeds, unmind gameable loops, and god pallets. Sure I’m down to fix camping.

  • There really hasn’t ever been. The game was been survivor sided for almost its entire life span. Killer is way harder, and is way more stressful and anger inducing. Only like 4-5 killers are truly viable at high MMR, the rest are mostly laughable and the devs don’t seem to care too much. So really nothing, am I still gonna play killer cause I enjoy the challenge? Yes

  • @Foxy_Teltac said:

If you play survivor, why so? If you play killer, why so?

I just wanna see why people play the sides they do, I'm mainly killer because I just like the killer side of the mindgames and the process of dealing with gens, being that offensive-defender, how bout you?

I play Killer. Survivor is too easy in my opinion, I don’t feel rewarded when I escape, the game is survivor sided and I enjoy a challenge. The dopamine boost from a good killer game is fantastic.

  • I Took over a 2 year break from this game to find the devs have still not fixed legion to not be laughably bad at high level. Very un happy that after all this time they’ve done 0 to fix what makes them bad.

  • I feel if I do not run Ruin/Undying or Ruin/Pop I will get dominated. I feel very pressured. Legion is a sad killer and I need this heavy gen defense to stand a chance.
