I used to play killer primarily. It was easier to not rely on other teammates or get taken out too early of a match.
But I haven't played in months. I think my last match was Dredge during the Knight chapter. Less motivation to keep playing and games weren't as fun. I watch videos on YouTube to support Spookyloopz and Negoose, but even then I get bored more easily (not because of them, but the gameplay)
I moved onto Splatoon 3 and Pokemon as my main games. S3 especially is more dynamic, faster matches, casual/ranked modes, co-op, more customization, free updates every season, etc.
I don't really have an interest of coming back, and Nicholas Cage seems more non-sensical (I get it that people find him funny) and it's not really a motivator to jump back in (even with the new exhaustion perk- risk vs. Reward idea is good though)
Im not knocking anybody or going on a soapbox, just giving my 2¢
-
I haven't played in a long time. Last 2 chapters were pretty meh, but 2 big games came out at the same time (Splatoon 3 and Pokemon ScVi). I'm a switch player so these are two of the biggest games imo (although ScVi fell a little flat IMHO).
But in my mind, Splatoon 3 is a very similar game, but with several improvements.
-Matches are quicker, for both casual and ranked matches. If I'm a time crunch (20 mins) I'm more often than not going to choose a DBD match. For S3 I can get 5 casual matches or 3 ranked matches in at the same time.
-lobbies can switch teams on a fly, or you can remain on same team in S3. If you want to switch roles or killers you have to leave completely.
-leveling up. We get cash and automatic rewards in S3. I can buy outfits and new weapons that I want only if I don't want a slosher I won't get one. Granted DBD streamlined the web process, but there are times that I want to play Scratched Mirror Myersbon an indoor map, but I have neither scratched mirror nor indoor offerings. I'll keep getting dead rabbits and Judith letters due to RNG. But the RNG and need for perfect perks and builds makes the process frustrating.
I think if DBD were to add these type of improvements it may bring some more life to the game (split mode which they hinted at previously, gives survivors/killers ability to switch roles/killers post match, and then make rewards cash only of which we can buy the add ons/perks/offerings to match the playstyles that we want).
-
I used to play 3 hours a week on average. Maybe it's 15 minutes now at best.
I had no interest in chapters starting with Wesker (not really a RE fan). Knight and SM weren't really interesting. I did, and still do, enjoy Dredge though.
But with that being said, there are other games which, frankly, are more fun.
I do play on Switch, so the other games available are just better in most ways. Splatoon 3 has faster matches, both casual and ranked battles, 24/7 Salmon Run, regular meta balancing with minimal bugs, regular themed events.
Even more story detailing games have deeper lore (Zelda). Pokemon is anoyther good example (although ScVi fell a little flat for me).
I get it that these games are different, but people spout that DBD has great online multiplayer experience (it's okay and again other games do it better), deep lore (very convoluted at times), engaged community (if engaged you mean constantly complaining then sure).
Its an okay game now thats worth picking up every so often, but I've honestly had more fun re-playing Super Mario 3 lately lol

I’ve been playing dbd for abt a year and probably played like a total of 5 hours of killer. Today I decided I felt like becoming good at spirit, and I feel bad at the end of every game. I’m playing super fair and very cautious to tunneling but I’ve still been getting 3-4k’s every game. I’ve decided that my MMR on killer is probably really low, and the survivors having all yellow perks shows that. I need bloodpoints one way or another so I have to kill survivors but I always feel super bad, know that if I was in the game I’d be probably pretty unhappy as they must be. Long explanation but I just wanna know if I’m not alone on this.
It's just a game tbh. If you decide to slug at 5 gens and let them bleed out, then you probably should feel bad lol
But seriously, I like to think of Wreck it Ralph. "Just because you are Bad Guy doesn't mean you are a bad guy!"

I honestly wasn't expecting to see the such negative reception the new killer is getting. From what I can gather a lot of it has to do with a perceived bad design, peoples expectations being way too high, and supposedly bad gameplay. Has any other killer received this type of attention in the past? I'm fairly new to the DBD community so a lot of this discourse is new to me.
2022 was decent with killers if you think about it.
1. Sadako: iconic, stealthy and adds slowdown to game with tapes. Perk wise, we got the excellent Call of Brine which is meta right now, Floods of rage (excellent Scourge hook for aura reading) and even Merciless Storm (paired well with Tinkerer before nerf and Doctor, especially lol)
2. Dredge: Fantastic original character and my favorite. Nightfall hinders survivors along with creating slowdown with locking lockers. Perk wise you have the aura reading with locker which benefits Huntress and Trickster. Excellent add ons overall.
I didn't play the next 2 killers just because Splatoon 3/Pokemon came out lol but I still played Dredge every so often
3. Wesker: another big name. I didn't play this chapter, but ik he's a big name in RE
4. Knight: AI guards that can help chase survivors is fun chases. Perk wise Nowhere to Hide is popular. Again didn't play this chapter
This killer has good tracking and the exposed status is interesting. I think I'd prefer Doctor for tracking as madness stops them from doing anything and doctor illusions is tracking that can be so reliable if you understand how they're generated. Obv he can deny actions at loops as well.
-
Doctor: easy to locate survivors but power has a learning curve due to distance and detonation delay.
Wraith: he's okay to use. He moves fast when cloaked but the speed debuff while uncloaking hurts.
Dredge: my main rn. He's simple enough as M1 but darkness helps him tremendously. As mentioned before his perks help finding survivors and destroying pallets for chases
Trapper is a decent option to begin. It'll teach you the fundamentals at loopijg at lower MMR. You will lose games but if you focus on chases moreso than winning it'll help long term

This is something I started doing a month or 2 ago, where I started tracking data throughout my games, here's a link to the spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1_JhzVZwD1zMRWEjj_YpFhiCDuJVwgh310TQfcupgJ5Q/edit?usp=sharing
How do you know if they were SWF? Assumption or did you ask?
Wouldve been interesting if you added time of day and timezone. You probably would've seen some interesting trends.
One more interesting thing to track is offerings. If you see a team of all flans they could either be casuals looking to farm or gen rushers looking to maximize bloodpoints and leave

Dead by Daylight was a game that I enjoyed despite some questionable changes *cough* pharmacy *cough* but that aside, I'd normally enjoy my games. But now it feels like you have to play like a dick and run the most meta builds just to do anything worthwhile because if you don't you'll get tunneled/camped at the survivor end, or your absolute ######### rocked by a good swf.
But it's a game, games are supposed to be fun but now it's just competitive hell where both sides are constantly at each other's throats for ######### out of their control because their not the developers. The game is a buggy mess with constant lag spikes, console optimization was promised back in 2019 and is still not implemented. The gap between PC and console is far to great for it to be properly compensated, and the toxicity just feels like it's at an all time high. I'm no veteran, only playing as soon as Ghostface released and just over 2k hours.
The incentives sure as hell didn't bring any survivors back, and they were broken the day they were first implemented. I just don't see a future that's long lasting at this rate for DBD. Majority of veteran players have quit because they don't agree with the direction of the game, but it's nice to see them on the forums still for the ones that still interact with the community.
Just I went from playing this game every day in my free time to barely playing once a week. I really want the game to thrive as I enjoyed the 1v4 aspect, but at this point it's just a game of "Who's whining will get the devs to change something first?" I really adore a lot of people in this community because they were great to talk with even if I didn't always agree with them, just I don't think I can keep up with this game anymore. Maybe play it once in awhile, but that's really it.
There's still a lot that I haven't addressed in this post, so if you want to chime in, feel free to.
I'm playing Splatoon 3 rn. I really feel it's a better game overall compared to DBD. It's sweaty rn in both games, but the ability to move on to next match quickly is a huge plus. You also have other modes for more sweat in anarchy battles, no sweat in Salmon Run and even Tabletop Turf Battle is fun.
I hope the devs take some critical points from S3. It's not VHS, Evil Dead that will take away people, but Splatoon is a huge franchise and community. I don't think hooked on you is the casual mode people wanted lol
It may be early, but I think DBD may be a thing of the past for me with Splatoon 3 out. There's almost no reason for me to go back lo
I still enjoy videos (Spookyloopz, Ghostie Show and Negoose are some of my favorites rn) ,but short of something amazing coming I doubt I'll even bother to log in
-
I'm finding myself gravitating to other games in preparation of Q4 releases. Specifically Splatoon 3 and Pokemon Scarlet. The latter isn't really a direct competition, however the former is absolutely an issue for DBD Switch Players.
Its an online multiplayer game without an official end for the most part. New weapons and kits, meta balances and maps and community events. It has both ranked and casual modes, along with Salmon Run returning and not to mention a fun single player.
I know console players get a bad rep, but I do think Splatoon is superior to DBD in most ways that give the most bang for your time. Queue times are almost instant, continuous lobby (with rotating teams) and Splatoon 2 gave regular updates (monthly new kits, Splatfests aka Sweatfests lol and meta balancing). The latter occurred well after last Splatfest.
DBD was a fun game, and not related to recent patch, but Splatoon/Pokemon releases in the same 3 months is going to make DBD go to 0 lol

Dying Light is a win more perk. If you win with it, you would've won without it.
Thana on Plague is a bit... let's say controversial. She disables your ability to heal, true, but part of Plague is she needs to adapt to survivors playstyles. If you have survivors that mass cleanse, Thana does nothing.
So, 2/4 perk slots are passive slowdown. She's gotta be lacking in some department.
Does she's gave Corrupt and regression? Then she's lacking information. No Corrupt? Make her early game as painful as possible. No regression? You gotta power through before she can gain a foothold.
This is very true. Dying Light is in the same vein as Devour Hope. It rewards good actions on the Killer's part, namely hooking.
I am a Plague main and can tell you that Plague's weakness is either in chase (no corrupt purge) or pressuring gens. Thano helps balance her weaknesses. I run Prayer Tablet with Corrupt and Thano. If I down somebody too quickly Corrupt is gone. If I take too long then i wasted my early game.
I'm also a Plague who doesn't go to pools too often. Once a survivor is infected it forces them to either eat the Thano penalty or go across the map to the only available pool. Once all of the pools are corrupted I get auto Corrupt as well, usually mid-chase.
But again if the survivors pressure hard early game and split the gens then it's difficult for me to stop them. If 4 survivors are working together on 2 separate gens far away I can't do much. If they try to lead me away then I am forced to not babysit the gen, not pressure the gen or go for a down. Certain maps especially hurt this.
-
Overall I enjoy the update on both sides.
Killer: Im not sweaty and can try out fun builds. LP, STBFL and even full Hex builds (not Ruin lol) are fun to try.
Survivor: I've been having fun with Deja Vu. I'll be working on a solo gen as Deja Vu is up and then a gen will pop giving me another round of Deja Vu. I'm working on Killer perks rn, but Overzealous/Deja Vu/Inner Strength/Head On will probably become a fun build to play with. I have to level up Haddie still.
I can be sweaty and run full slowdown on killer or Endurance/Gen Rush build (I guess Overzealous/Deja Vu could be considered that), but it's more fun to experiment now
-
Killer: fun overall. We can experiment more leading to different builds. Lethal Pursuer and Aura Reading in general feels really good. My pre update main build was Corrupt/Thano Plague, so she feels really good, but people are haters lol
Survivor: I do enjoy it, but I think meta is shifting from BT meta to Prove Thyself/Streetwise/Built 2 Last/BNP. Overall I think meta is balanced, but I did play against a Thano/Sloppy Butcher Legion and it was frustrating to say the least. So I can understand the frustration of other players. But I don't think it's fair to nerf a playstyle for 2 Killers that aren't exactly the strongest.
I'm not going to be playing too much longer tbh. Not because of the update but because there's so many great games coming out over next 3 months; Splatoon 3, DBZ: The Breakers and Pokemon Scarlet. I also have my 3rd son being born in October so that also adds in another responsibility. Splatoon will be the preferred game simply due to times (instant queues + 3 minute matches or 5 minutes for Salmon Run) vs. 5 min queues + 12 minute match if killer. If it's Survivor it's probably less

Where you located and what time of day? I'm Eastern - USA and I played 2 matches last night around 11pm est as killer and it only took 30 seconds give or take.
Same for me, same region too.
Killer queues are almost instant. I think the longest I've waited is a minute lol

Killer:
Plague
Prayer Tablet/Hematite Seal
Corrupt/Thano/Thrilling Tremors/Fearmonger
Demo
Lifeguard Whistle/Barb's Glasses
STBFL/Jolt/Spirit Fury/Enduring
Survivor:
Head On/Inner Strength/Overzealous/Flash Bang
-
I think it's just a different meta tbh, not good or bad.
I played killer as Plague and Demo. Demo with STBFL felt really good with just 4 stacks. Faster recovery and shred allowed me to close distance quicker. DH is probably the biggest difference as they can't DH for distance as I shred after an M1.
Plague felt similar as before. My same build still works (Corrupt, Fearmonger, Thano, Thrilling Tremors). I play Prayer Tablet. Biggest difference is when I down first survivor and Corrupt goes down. Then I find myself having to go infect those 3 gens. My build is a slow pressure build that gets momentum over time. Thano + Longer gen times help as survivors have to go cleanse. I pick up corrupt purge once all pools are corrupted (auto) or when all survivors are sick. So this forces survivors to go across the map to cleanse in some circumstances. This helps balance out bigger maps. I regress the gen and reinfect and then the process repeats. More effective once we get to a 3-4 gen situation. Extra time does help a little as I can go pressure before gen pops, but not game breaking imo.
As survivor I think not having to run BT is a huge help. I liked running BT and Guardian, which base kit BT is very similar to this combo. I find toolboxes with Streetwise/Built to Last helps check Thano. Slap on an exhaustion perk (Head On/Sprint Burst) and a 4th perk. Overzealous is cool if you're good with totem spawns.
Another fun build is Head On/Overzealous/Inner Strength/Flash Bang.
Im not a high tier player, but I think it's good to try new builds

I just had a legion game where an extremely obvious bully swf just simply gave up partway into the match because they simply didn't want to play with the gen speeds I had forced them to. I was running thana, thrilling tremors, surveillance, and oppression. They finished one gen but it was obviously going to require too much of a time investment for them to continue the game, and they weren't going to get the satisfaction of stomping on a killer, so they just simply locker-hopped to annoy me until I finally hooked them all.
These are the kind of survivors that are going to be very vocal about how the balance in this patch is too killer-sided. So enjoy your slowdown builds while they last, I can't imagine bhvr not listening to the bully swf people who want to be able to feel invincible again.
Thano by itself isn't an issue and on most killers it's healthy tbh. However the two that use it to the fullest (which was true pre-update as well) was Legion and Plague. Most killers need to pair it with Sloppy to get the additional slowdown. However, these two killers powers give slowdown without the need of Sloppy.
Mending and Cleansing are more than secondary objectives like Pinheads box or Sadako's VHS. Mending is required and cleansing is strongly encouraged.
I'm a Plague main and I enjoy Thano a lot on her. My build is just based around spreading infection through Prayer Tablet. I think Plague is in a great spot rn and has been ever since CoH came out as her powers weaken those perks significantly.
Legion is more of a low-mid tier killer in general. The 5th FF hit and speed boost is great for them, but nothing too crazy.
I don't think it's right to base a perk around 1-2 killers that can utilize them to the fullest potential as they don't have too much else going for them tbh.
Nurse's calling is strong on stealth killers. Tinkerer is strong on high mobility killers. Infectious Fright is strong on one shot killers.
Thano is good on most killers, but is strong on killers that can injure quickly, namely Legion and Plague.
Run the same build on a different killer and let's see if they quit again.
-
My Plague build is pretty much the same lol
Prayer Tablet build
Corrupt Intervention
Thanatophobia
Thrilling Tremors
Fearmonger
I did try Demo with STBFL and it felt really good.
-
I'm going to ask a dumb question, so bear with me.
Obviously tier 3 perks are best, but are they 100% necessary?
In some cases the differences between tier 1 and 3 are so different (i.e. Ruin). But some perks the difference is so minute. Some examples;
Boon: Shadow Step (2s difference after leaving area)
Built to Last (2s difference)
Overcharge: the overall effect of 100-400% is the same, but the immediate regression of a failed skill check is only 2% difference between tier 1 and tier 3.
There are examples of where it's a sizable difference (Bond, Discordant, etc.) But many of the perks have very little difference between tiers 1 and 3.
So if you could unlock tier 1 or 2, you would see a significant decrease in BP grind.
This is of course trading best possible perks for less grind, but having the basic perk without the RNG factor does help a bit.
Idk it's just a thought I had lol

Bbq is losing the bloodpoint bonus and it will take a hefty amount out of the bloodpoints you will earn. But some people i know are acting like we will earn half as much bp as before.
That isn't really the case
Bbq didn't double your bp it just gives you the bp you earned in a match again. You earn bp in more ways then that.
Between offerings, daillies, archive, rank reset rewards, events and random bp codes i beginning to feel bbq's bp bonus was always a bit overrated.
It was good and losing it will be quite a chunk less bp. But probably like 15-20%. Even less with wglf with how much harder it is to get stacks with that perk.
Am i seeing that wrong? The more i think about the more i begin to think bbq's bonus really wasen't that big of a deal as we made it out to be.
BBQ helped with the grind and especially helped during blood events.
32k match
32k because of BBQ
32k because of blood event
169.6k because of 5 flan offerring
This comes to 265.6k BP. 4 matches should put you at 1M BP.
So it helps, but as you said offerings, dailies and events help more.

I'd love to sell stuff, iv suggested it many times and I'd happily sell stuff at a very low % value. I'd instantly sell all non 100% bp offerings lol.
I personally wouldn't mind map offerings if maps werent one sided, it's mainly survivors that I see use it for this but it's a shame you see X map and know if you're up for an easy/hard game.
I hated the community choices though, was stuck on farrrrr to long and I got bored of dead dog lol
I had Gas Haven and Coal Tower almost the entire time lol so I was happy as killer lol

211.875 - 847.5 days if I used brown offerings and only counted the profit from the offerings to earn a total of 12,204,000 BP.
That's 57,600-14,400 BP per days playtime.
Info on how these numbers are created:
If you didnt know brown BP offerings give you a gain of 1k BP, while its 50% of a max 8k (4k BP) you spend 3k on the offering giving you 1k profit.
I currently have 12,204 between all my characters (while I have a high play time others will have more, it's worth noting I dont prestige)
This is based on 5-10min games, and assuming I always max the category with the brown offering. The BP gained are only the 1k profit (base BP earned in trial not counted)
This is only brown offerings, the fact it could take me over 2 years to use them all if games lasted 10mins long and I'd get 12.2 million just shows how worthless these offerings are.
THIS IS WHY I DONT USE THEM, AND ALL OFFERINGS THAT DONT AWARD 100% IN EVERY CATEGORY SHOULD BE REMOVED.
I think we should be able to sell add ons/offerings back. Maybe 10 brown for 5k as an example.
I target browns once I get my perks and/or desired add ons for killer. After that I go for browns to minimize the cost of leveling up.
Even map offerings I hope go away. I loved voting on maps for community event. It reminded me of Mario Kart where we vote for the map. I have so many indoor map offerings on Billy I won't use and I have a plethora of RPD map that I will almost never use (unless I want to run Mirror Myers). But even then, I'd prefer the Game 100%.

I play on Switch, and I wouldn't say I'm terrible lol
I think it boils down to the following;
1. Some Killers are harder on console (Nurse, Blight, Trickster, etc.). So if you are getting beat down by a Switch Nurse, you need to respect them immensely lol game is optimized around PC players, which is fair the game came out on PC first
2. Console players are probably more casual. I enjoy Splatoon and Pokemon. I have over 1000 hours in Splatoon and Pokemon is even higher across multiple games (1500). So I can be competitive, but I also realized I'm not going to tourneys any time soon. So if I don't get the 4k or survive, its not the end of the world. My MMR will adjust and next match will be better.
3. Could be more of a Switch issue, but it's more family friendly. I'm a dad with a 2nd on the way. My son wants to play Switch too, so why would I invest in a PC for 1 game? I can get DBD and family games on the same console
With that being said, I am expecting to almost completely drop DBD later this year. Between Splatoon 3 and Scarlet/Violet I'll have my 2 main games at almost the same time, which is nuts. Splatoon 2 came out in 2017 and then Splatfests ended in 2019, just when Sword/Shield came out.
I think the Switch numbers for DBD will drop considerably after these 2 drop. I am curious if it's tracked by BHVR though

Some people are a bit confused about gen rush. Then me, an ancient boomer, will explain to these guys how it works: first of all, does gen rush actually exist? Survivors are basically doing their objective, but yes, genrush exist, despite someone is a bit confused about it, you have 2 scenarios:
- Killer has the impression of being genrushed when he fails at apply enough pressure and his opponents just play smart than him. Here is just a matter of skill, not gen speed;
- Real genrush: 1 or more survivors bring bnp, prove thyself (and sometimes you can see some things like Spine Chill or Overzealus in perk builds of genrushers squad, becouse of the additional repair speed boost). Basically all perks that speed up the gen progress. How these squads play? They literally are tunnelling the generators the whole time (the equivalent of a killer tunnelling a guy). They will ignore your Ruin, secondary objectives, and all your slow-down perks, sometimes they will ignore your physical presence while repairing an almost finished gen (90% or more), they will ignore that they will end up with 13.000-15.000 bps at best. One of them will just stop repairing if someone needs to be rescued (and without even healing him, both of them will start to repair the closest gen from the hook).
The question is, how do you deal with actual gen rushers? Genrushers can make the game go really fast, your last win condition when survivors choose the fast gen speed is to hope their chase suck (and with suck I mean that they last like 20 seconds at best, Shift+W in other words). If they genrush and play smart too, well GG.
Gen slowdown perks and secondary objectives help offset somewhat. Secondary objectives being totem hunting, Cenobite's box, pig traps, etc.
One of the best way to get survivors off gens is Devour Hope. It can snowball very quickly. If you pair it with Undying/Haunted Ground then it's going to be funny very quickly how fast they all get off gens lol
If you have a non M1 killer you can even try to hide the exposed status until the last stack (Billy, Bubba, Plague, Trapper).
But with the gen speed being slowed it will slowdown the game a bit and I don't think most people see full on sweaty genrush teams
-
@[Deleted User] said:
There's a lot of perks like that. You can't possibly know if a killer has Devour Hope until he gains 3 stacks, is Devour Hope unhealthy?
Learning what build is your opponent running is part of the gameplay as well. If I see a killer that I know for sure has, for example, Tinkerer + Pop + Corrupt + Bambozlee, I know I don't need to be wortied about NOED at the end.
Also nothing in this game should be risk free. If DS and UB had tells for when a survivor has them, tunneling and slugging would be easier than what they already are.
I agree with this 100%. If you don't want to eat a DS or UB the try not to tunnel or slug. There's more incentives to cleanse totems other than preventing NOED (boon perks, inner healing, haddie's new totem perk). Even off the wall stuff like Clairvoyance can be niche, while still encouraging survivors to cleanse.
I wish I knew why Dissolution warns survivors though. Spirit Fury doesn't warn survivors so why should Dissolution? Its not a non-hex perk with a specific action to activate. Survivors will be less inclined to do said action this negating the perk itself.

I’ve seen on the forums that people in general appreciate Dredge matches, or so I thought. My last few games when I kill as Dredge have suffered from instant-DC of 1 to 3 survivors once they realize who I am.
Is he unpopular? Is it just them? And while I’m at it, is the DC penalty disabled right now or something? Anyway, how do you feel about Dredge games in general?
I haven't played against a Dredge yet. I played Dredge when he celebrated out, but I haven't seen one throughout the event even as survivor.
I see survivors making more mistakes (deadharding into walls especially lol) so I can see why it's frustrating for survivors. Nightfall impairs the survivors and reduces one of their greatest strengths; 3rd person view.
I use the add on with Nightfall in the beginning paired with Lethal Pursuer. So the survivors start off impaired, but don't realize that I am barreling down on them lol
I'm a low-mid skill killer so he could be more of a hassle against newer/less skilled players.

Because everyone will use off the record every game, its basically a bt and ds in 1.
They can't do anything for 80s though. So I hope survivors run this as it means I'll have one less survivor doing guns for the next 80s.
If they do any conspicuous activity they lose it. I mean OTR and Mettle of Man sound interesting for a body blocking build since it could be a clutch move in endgame when you expect a down.

I mean simple common sense balance and quality of life changes that they should’ve made years ago? It’s because of hyped and fun games with the same style of gameplay like Evil Dead, Ghost Busters and Texas Chainsaw Massacre coming out and suddenly they’re feeling threatened. This is the benefit of competitive capitalism. If you care about Dead by Daylight don’t hesitate to play it’s competitors.
More likely reason is that massive changes like that essentially creates a new game. So there's no need for DBD 2.
Those games won't make me stop playing DBD honestly. However, Splatoon 3 is a different story lol
It's multiplayer with no end, just like DBD. Biggest difference is turf war is casual mode, and they have ranked, but then also hoard mode in Salmon Run.
It's similar in many aspects. music was clear winner until Legion chase music was updated lol

It's a good question, if it's going according to 'we need killers at x MMR but not at y MMR' there'll probably be a little icon on the killers that will earn the bonus.
That's a decent idea and a good indication of how hard a match I'll have. If they're asking for Doctor or Plague on me, it's going to be a sweat fest lol
-
@JawsIsTheNextKiller said:
The dev update says that the incentives are based on our matchmaking ratings so one person might get a different incentice to another. But my killers are vastly different to eachother. The MMR might say, "hey you are quite bad at Dredge, and we need some bad killers right now." But then what if I play Nurse? Who I am really, really, really bad with?
I suspect that they will use one of the following;
1. Your best MMR. If you are getting 100% bonus BP, then you are by definition going to want to maximize those BP by using your best killer.
2. Average MMR with last X amount of killers played. So if your average MMR for last 3 played killers is 1000 it'll use that number as your basis assuming that you will use one of those killers and not a random one. It could also look at top hours per killer but this will unfavorably favor base killers (Trapper, Wraith, Billy, etc.) As they are the oldest killers.
I don't think it'll use your lowest MMR killer as they will plan on you using your worst.
I didn't even think of this until you mentioned it though.

pretty much the title, im pretty sure we've all seen the patch notes and...
how do you manage to have a 40 perk rework & still dont acknowledge camping & tunneling?
Solo survivor is hard as is but now?? its literally unplayable.
5 second BT?! are you serious... when was the last time you guys played this game? killers already waited for 8 - 10 seconds for BT for ware off and you expect them to go away because of 5 seconds??? HOLY SH-
DS got nerfed but why? I thought it was good in its current state? i guess not since BHVR WANTS players to continue camping & tunneling
I cant believe BHVR tricked the whole community to be hyped & to stick around for these (NOT) amazing changes.
after 6 years this game has proven it cant keep or maintain the player base instead BHVR feeds off the new and incoming waves of players.
so glad our support & feedback is valued greatly
congrats BHVR, pretty good job so far. this update will surely keep the player base :))
15s with a 7% haste speed if you run BT on top of base kit. I ran BT and Guardian and they are a great combo to prevent tunneling.
Even Monstrous Shrine perk only activates if you are more than 24m away.

THIS IS JUST A THEORY
On this Screenshot we can see majority of the perks that are in use are some that will be getting a change soon. This basically confirms that the perks are being tested.
Maybe The Twins are being tested as well

The only perks that are not in the pool of changing are Kindred and Quick and Quiet, so this theory could be false.
I should also consider The Twins are not using add-ons. It is interesting to see this though.
Here are all the perks getting a change. In case anybody is interested.

Twins Changes or not. This is going to be a very interesting Mid-chapter. I am really excited and looking forward to how the changes turn out.
It is low BP though for killer with 2K and a mori (?). If you just slug with Victor then it would make sense for high kill rate with not a lot of BP.
That is essentially Twins in a nutshell so qmy testing they are doing most likely didn't result in an overall change in playstyle. We didn't see the emblems so we can't confirm that, but it does make sense with Twins for low BP. We do see 1 survivor with 198 BP and Monstrous Shrine. Another reason could be basement camping due to MS buff. I could see them turning it into a Scourge Hook perk but all basement hooks become scourge hooks on top of one's throughout the map.
The rankings on the left are interesting. The numbers are straightforward but the claws around the numbers is different. I thought maybe BP earnings, or Obsession but thay wasn't the case.

His anti-loop really makes no sense. You charge the shock, hit them, they're paralysed for 2.5 seconds but then you also slow down enough that you can't really make it to them in time. I've tried multiple strategies to make the shocks work. I've tried to not spam shock and time it right. Doesn't really work. Spam shocks just slow you down and do nothing. These were all on pretty standard loops I should add.
Every-time I would do this, I'd be just far away enough to miss. And it seemed like the only way to really utilize his power was when survivors were greedy and I was already on their ass. It's just so counter intuitive.
The delay as well is weird. I understand why it exists. It makes it so you cant just instant shock when they reach the pallet. But I also feel that's the way it should be. You already have to charge it. I wouldn't entirely remove it but it should be a bit faster.
Static blast also sucks. You have to do it like 3 times to put someone in tier 3. But the cool-down is a minute. Sure, it's good for finding survivors and potentially delaying the game. But Legion does the same in just a couple of seconds, with the potential to get a down from it. As well with not having to wait so long.
I love the idea of his character and his design. I just can't take him seriously. If anything he's a nuisance. And playing him feels like a waste of time. I wish he was the intimidating mad man he is in the lore.
Doctor is in a decent place tbh. CoH hurt him, but then he has a few things working for him.
I used to run Static Blast cool down and range add ons, but honestly Shock Therapy add ons are so much better in chase.
Doctor is flexible too and can run multiple builds. He can do impossible all checks (tier 2 madness and Merciless Storm lol). You can run standard M1 builds (Sloppy, Corrupt, BBQ, NOED). Full hex builds (NOED, Haunted Ground, Ruin, Devour Hope). You can even do a gen kicking build for challenges (Overcharge/Oppression/PGTW/CoB).
Doctot is probably one of the more balanced killers imo. I wouldn't mind seeing add ons tweaked to account for meta changes, but overall hes a B killer.

Which one do you think is better? I use lethal on high mobility killers and corrupt on regular speed ones
You could use both for intense early game pressure. But, I think high mobility users benefit the most from Lethal Pursuer (Nurse, Blight, Wraith, Spirit, Billy). Even Huntress can have fun Lethal Pursuer is map is open.
I also like to use it for Dredge with his add on that makes the game start in Nightfall. Survivors think that they can hide for the 60-80s of Nightfall, but I'm already making a beeline straight for them and they have no idea that I know. I also had fun with the second add on where last 12s they are exposed. This is nice on Dredge as it could take it 30s to go cross maps initiate chase and then last few seconds insta-down.
Edit: I also pair LP on Dredge with NOED to balance out strong early game with end game back up.

Interesting. I have 4000+ hours in the game and not a single character prestiged so 😀
I prestiged Doctor at first by accident. Once I lost all my perks I was so upset. Yeah I got a bloody weapon, but it cost me 1M BP lol
Right now I'm making sure all killers are level 50 so once new system goes live, I can pop a level and unlock at least the basics on the killers.
@MandyTalk I know there's going to be a catch up for prestige, but how will it work when only 1-2 characters have a lot unlocked. For example, I unlocked and have most tier 3 perks on Mikaela for all characters (I used shrine of secrets a lot) , but my Kate is Level 1 still. Mikaela shouldn't lose her tier 3 perks, but what will happen to Kate? Will the catch up on her bring her to a similar level as Mikaela?

The Dredge is the worst offender. Survivor games for 2 days straight and can't escape once. Every match is a 4K. This game has gone to hell.
Survivor feels downright impossible.
I've played this since one year after launch and am so fed up with this god damn game catering infinitely to trash killers to the point that every match is now a 4k. But no, I'm not allowed to judge I guess. And im sure the replies will be so original like "bye then".
It's a new killer thats been live for less than 48 hours. Survivors are still learning to play against him.
He's a complicated killer to go against because you have 2 issues; transporting to lockers and Nightfall.
Is not the transporting that's an issue (Sadako/Freddy did this and then Wraith/Spirit/Nurse can close the distance as well). Survivors aren't used to Nightfall and the PTB didn't showcase it properly.
The one advantage that survivors have is 3rd person view, and it just got a whole lot weaker with Nightfall.
I have been really enjoying the add on combo where Nightfall starts in the beginning and survivors are exposed last 12s. Pair it with Lethal Pursuer and I'm getting a down relatively quickly.
Survivors will adapt (Spine Chill/Windows), but now i think a strong killer like Dredge is fun as it challenges Survivors more.

Can someone teach me da wae?
For some reason i cant seem to get anything done with him while getting tons of 4ks with other killers like Domoboi. ;(
HELP ME
I only played 2 games last night, so bear with me lol
I used an add on combo where it's Nightfall from the beginning and last 12s they are exposed. I got lucky with the RNG and got Lethal Pursuer. You can't teleport in the beginning, but it creates so much pressure in the beginning.
I do want to pair it with Corrupt and Sloppy for extra slowdown. BBQ or Floods of Rage is probably the last perk to help find survivors mid-game.
Teleporting is a little off still, but the darkness change from the PTB to Nightfall is great for him. I think Sadako and Dredge are similar in teleportation, but I think Sadako feels more cleaner. Most likely because there are less targets.

I'm Plague, Trapper, Legion and GF main so I guess I'm pretty chill lol

We'll be giving out more information as time gets closer to when this is released.
For now though it's probably best to not prestige though right? If we prestige now we lose all of our perks. But with the patch that won't happen.
I would think getting every character to 50 and then stopping until the patch would be the ideal situation?
-
First can I say I didn't realize META stood for "Most Effective Tools Available"? Lol if I didn't see than in the stream I wouldn't have known that lol
Im not really hoping for nerfs per se, but I would love some perks to become base kit in some manner (I.e. Corrupt, BT) and then the perks themselves can stack on top of these. Say corrupt base is 60s, but then Corrupt perk adds another 90s. Corrupt by itself is weaker, but the base kit adds another 30s overall. So it takes up a perk slot but adds more overall time. Some killers I only have tier 1 (RNG) but it still works as it'll give me time to set up with Trapper
I would love to see changes to Lightborn. An added exposure aspect for the person attempting to blind will be interesting.
On survivor side, I think they need more shake up. Since I started playing in 2020, killer meta shifts with new combos (Ruin/Undying, Scourge: Pain + DMS,. PGTW + Oppression, Hoarder + Cenobite, etc.). Other than Boons, Boil Over and a few others not much has changed. I've been having fun with stun/blind build (Head On, Flashbang, Parental Guidance, DS), but the meta perks are still strong (DS, UB, DH, BT, IW)

Another attempt, this time I tried using Thana and Corrupt on Badham. Early game was better this time but the map still massively screwed me over with its superstrong loops. Dead Hard was an extreme issue as well, simply appalling. So far I can't seem to get more than a 2K on this killer. I had to camp for these kills, too.
The worst issue in this match however was a Felix who seemingly was immune to my puke. I literally covered him with my fluids for an ENTIRE SECOND and he still remained healthy. This cannot be normal.
This is very close toy Plague build. Corrupt/Thano/Fear Monger are so good on Plague, but I run Prayer Tablet as her add on. Survivors get infected faster, gens are infected for like 70 secs, they trigger Thano for slowdown, become broken, oblivious and exhausted lol
Last perk I run is Thrilling Tremors, but any decent perk can go here (PGTW, etc.). You can try Ruin but I find it gets cleansed so quick.
I also try not to use the pools. I want the survivors to go clear across the map to cleanse and 9/10 I end up getting Corrupt mid chase to snowball like crazy.
Im a mid tier player but she's a lot of fun in my MMR.
-
I don't play Hag so I can't comment too much, but some of the middle tier are in a decent spot rn. Doctor especially is solid. If you make any significant changes he will either become too strong (i.e. can damage using special after x amount of shocks) or too weak if you mess with his add ons.
Some interesting passes are okay (i.e. madness level 2 causes Hemorrhage when injured). Having an add on double as a perk like Sloppy could be interesting

Hey guys!
Just wanted to know, which Killer(s) you think is(are) the most underrated. I want to try out some Killers and prove that they really deserve a better spot in some tierlists.
Stay well
Hillbilly, Trapper, Clown
I've been enjoying Plague a lot lately. I think her recent add on pass helped a lot. She's fun too
-
I think madness should come with a debuff to healing/actions. Remove the ability to do anything in tier 3 and give me debuffs similar to Hex:Pentimento.
Tier 1: 25% reduction in action speeds
Tier 2: 50% reduction in action speeds
Tier 3: 75% reduction in action speeds
To offset it the speeds you'll give survivors the ability to tier down. Tier 3 to tier 1: 10s, tier 2 to tier 1: 30s
You give them the ability to tier down from 2, but it'll take longer. It'll be better for you to be tiered up and then snap out of it for 20s reduction.
Just an idea lol
-
I'm pretty content with add on/powers for the most part. Plague and Trapper had excellent add on passes/updates. Personally, I'd like to see Doctor add on shake up to help counter the healing meta. I.e. add on where each tier of madness slows your healing. Tier 1: 15% penalty, tier 2: 25% penalty and then Tier 3: you can't be healed until you tier down not even by other survivors
Its just an idea, but I think Doctor is in an okay state atm

I say leave them off and replace them with the character portraits. Personally I’m way more interested in seeing at a glance which player was which survivor versus seeing the grades.
I like this idea. Ranks have been gone for what 6 months now? We still see people complain on FB that they are getting matched with red ranks at the end of the month.
Id be down to see Portraits. There are times when I see a Steve in game and I go to post game and see a player with Renewal or Guardian and can assume . It's easy to assume at that point lol
But, when you get higher you see the same builds (DH, DS, BT). If the grades are confusing people then just do portraits.
They can have a post game rating on how they felt the match went as well

These have probably been thought of before, but here are some game modes I'd enjoy.
- Realism mode - Survivors don't get access to aura reading or a Hud.
- Casual - A mode where people are expected to not sweat as much. no way to enforce this, but it'd be nice to have.
- 1v1 - Queue up as survivor or killer, do a chase in a tournament format with other survivors. if you last a minute or more in chase, you move on to the next round. Shards/bp could be awarded based on placement in the tournament. (would also have a realism mode)
- 2v8 - 2 killers, 8 survivors. Double the number of gens, totems, and hatches. (would also have a casual and realism mode)
I like the realism mode idea.
Im also down for randomizer mode. 5 people go in, and everything is randomized (killer, survivor, perks, etc.) The only control you have is you put in your preferred role and map.

Mikaela has some fire cosmetics.
Yeah but I just hate the witch hat one. She loses her glasses and looks terrible. Which is a shame because I love that hat

Mikaela and Elodie are my mains. I like their backgrounds. They both introduced some fun perks (Deception, boons, etc.). But I've been enjoying Mikaela and her Halloween event outfit (minus her ugly witch hat/no glasses look)

I play builds that are more fun. I'm not a top tier player and I can't see rank or rewards for rank. My only motivation is to have fun games. So meme-y builds are fun. I play Prayer Tablet Plague normally so that's fun.
I had a match as Wraith on Wreckers and got 1K before last gen popped. They were sweaty and try hards. As last gen popped, so did NOED and right next to a gate with 2 survivors and 2 hooks. So needless to say I had a fun end game and got the 3K against sweaty survivors.
Ive been more drawn to Splatoon 2 lately, but will be playing DBD for fun every so often

I have a kid around the year so i dont have as much "game time" as I used to. It often comes down to play a game or two while he's sleeping.
The problem is that I never know when he's gonna wake up.
It often ends up with him waking up mid game, wich means I have to either DC or go AFK for the rest of the match.
I dont like doing either cuz I know its frustrating for the other players.
But what option is the lesser evil? Do you prefer farmin BP with an AFK killer or would you rather get on to the next game?
(I play killer 99% of the time so only asking from that perspective, feel free to ad opinions on if its a survivor that DC or go AFK if you want to.)
I'm a dad too so ik how it is. I only play when I know he's out. Son is 3.5 now so he's been sleeping the night usually once he's out. I play at 10PM. On the off chance he wakes up, I'll let him try to go back to sleep by himself when I hear him on the monitor. If they are screaming, then you have to go. AFK at least doesn't give you a penalty. So, if your kid goes back to sleep within 5 minutes you can hop right into another match.
Or you can play a different game with shorter game. Splatoon 2 has 3 minute matches, 5 minute Salmon Run/Ranked battles. Each match can be 10-15 minutes. If my son wakes up as I get into a match I see if my wife could grab him. But I stopped doing that since it wasn't fair if she's trying to sleep (she's also pregnant with our 3rd).
