  • Rush gens, campers will get very few BP automatically. If you're on the hook, stay there as long as possible. Play stealthily if you don't want to be the first one on the hook.

  • That's nice. I wish more killers were like that Trapper and more survivors were like that Dwight.

No sides of the Generator have better repair speeds, all is same. As for the gen rush problem that you see, you will have to explain that to me, to see what I can change.

I completely misunderstood your suggestion. I love this idea, but maintain it'd be overly complicated.

Nah, its better to put it here, more exposure.

And also, just making regression higher won't do any god, while it make be better for killer, it won't be better for survivors, and even worse if perks like PGTW, surge and ruin are into play, yes gen speed are a bit too fast since....forever but making the regression faster is not the simple solution and definitely not the best solution. They need to change how gens work, like im pretty sure if you've been here long enough that playing survivor is getting really boring and survivor mains are getting tired and board of just holding M1 or R2 for console players.

Nah, its better to put it here, more exposure.

Only to people who have no say in what happens, though. If you want the devs to be exposed to your idea, you should post it in the proper place.

Anyway, this seems overly complicated not just from a coding standpoint, but also a player standpoint. I don't want to have to memorize which sides of the generator are "better" for repairs just so I can optimize my repair speed. This also seems like it'd make gen rush worse.

Bring kindred all the time because it's the best solo perk in the game, and survivors don't need 4 perks anyway so it can take up your final slot

One of the best perks overall, not just the best solo perk. You can know who's going for a rescue and when, where the killer was headed after hooking, and even if the killer has perks like Discordance, BBQ, etc.

    What Does POG Mean?

Before the spread of the internet and gaming culture, “pog” was a small, circular piece of cardboard commonly used to play a game by children and young adults in the 1990s. Now, “POG” is often used in gaming to mean “play of the game.”

“POG” can also be used with “champ” to make “POGChamp.” This is sort of an abbreviation for “play of game champion.” This means that the player performed extremely well in a match and will be the best player in the game and get the “play of the game.”

I didn't know what it meant either, but this is what I found.

    That would make sense. Thanks.

Hey I'm not downplaying his win, I'm glad he's enjoying Blight because honestly were in the minority on the forums for whatever reason. But the comments about the survivors "likely being swf", and "of course he had adrenaline", implying there's something wrong with playing with your friends and running those perks, is a bit unnecessary no?

I just took the first one as a guess and the second as an exasperated statement of fact, like when you're running late and "of course there's traffic".

Yes, but I'm guessing that's not what OP means by the term. Also, it's in all caps, so maybe it's an acronym?

  • The hell does "POG" mean?

This. Many people will call you biased if you look at things objectively and recognize that one side has it worse (as is almost always the case) because they think being "neutral" or "unbiased" means either praising or bashing both sides in the same sentence.

Dude a survivor made a post asking for advice on how to counter a certain killer and he to shut it down due to backlash. You tend to have a more killer sided view which is cool whatever but in a killer sided forum that gets upvotes.

Its obvious unreasonable things get shutdown but there are comments or posts about how survivors want easy wins or dont want to change their playstyle? How about the comments that say survivors wanna bully killer in swf? That stuff doesnt get commented on its accepted.

Dude a survivor made a post asking for advice on how to counter a certain killer and he to shut it down due to backlash.

I'd have to read the thread to see what happened, but sometimes ######### reach a thread before reasonable people can get to it. Happens on every forum and it has nothing to do with who mains what.

You tend to have a more killer sided view which is cool whatever but in a killer sided forum that gets upvotes.

No, I'm just reasonable. Being reasonable doesn't mean supporting two sides in the same comment, nor does it mean being a contrarian. It means looking at things objectively and making statements based on that, even if those statements tend more toward one side than the other. Because, in almost every single case, one side is really worse than the other. It's just how the world works.

Its obvious unreasonable things get shutdown but there are comments or posts about how survivors want easy wins or dont want to change their playstyle? How about the comments that say survivors wanna bully killer in swf? That stuff doesnt get commented on its accepted.

As a former member of a SWF bully squad back before SWF was even a thing, I can guarantee you that most SWF groups are sore losers who bully killers in the trial and post-game chat.

Yeah you may be a survivor main but you sure as hell ignore the fact survivors are getting the short end of the stick. Also arent you the same guy what tried to justify a mod closing the console optimization thread? The same pc player who doesnt understand problems and trying to start stuff?

I dont bash killers and if I come off like that it's not what I mean.

Dude, I only die when one of three things happen:

    1. The killer is just overwhelmingly better than I am. Sometimes they're just better and there's no shame in admitting that.
    2. I ######### up. Everyone ######### up from time to time and that's alright.
    3. Someone else ######### up. Due to the asymmetrical nature of this game, if one survivor massively ######### up, everyone else is #########.

Meanwhile, as a killer, you can lose because you chased someone for a little too long or because someone had DS or because someone found a key.

Survivors are not getting the short end of the stick. It only feels that way because they've been used to being the power role and are now becoming more balanced.

  • @azame said:

There is nothing to say about killers because even if survivors claim those perks are crutches they really arent and will get shutdown by killer mains.

Survivor pov isnt really listened to on this forum so I preface it as a survivor main because damn it's always this is a crutch that's a crutch.

Call it a complaint but I'm just saying what I think. This forum is killer sided.

As I pointed out before, the forum is killer sided for the same reason firefighters are biased toward dry, hot areas.

The survivor POV is definitely listened to on this forum, when it's reasonable. Source: My POV is listened to on this forum. I didn't get all my upvotes for no reason. However, when survivors say certain killers should be deleted or that they DC when killers yell "boo", they rightly get shut down.

Unreasonable killer complaints also get shut down just as quickly as unreasonable survivor complaints. For example, killers demanding that the hatch be removed or that keys be deleted.

I'm a survivor main and I've noticed (and pointed out) that you're usually just bashing killers. I don't want you "sticking up for me" if you turn everything into a survivor vs. killer issue like you've done with this issue.

  • Works fine for me and literally tens of thousands of others who are playing right now. I'd advise you to just try it for yourself and see.

  • @azame said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1635444#Comment_1635444

It's not meant to be a killer vs survivor but its there are so many spots calling good perks crutches. There are not as many posts as killers calling every good survivor perk a crutch than someone saying noed.

If it's not meant to be a killer vs. survivor thing, then why did you phrase it like one? You didn't just say "Sure, survivors have X, but killers have Y" or whatever, you literally opened a thread to complain about killers and contrasted their behavior with survivors' behavior.

And there are definitely a lot more posts from survivors calling killer perks like NOED, BBQ, Whispers, and so on "crutch perks" than there are killers doing the opposite.

  • I was gonna agree with you based on the title, but then you had to make this into a killer vs. survivor thing again and even swapped the roles (there are a lot more survivors calling NOED, etc., crutches than the opposite).

  • @GoshJosh said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1635279#Comment_1635279

Right. But BHVR wants to defend their functionality by saying they aren't hooks; yet it alerts the killer just the same when a survivor is rescued from one - clearly allowing and encouraging tunneling without DS being usable.

Yes, hooks and cages have similarities, but they're not the same thing. It's like walking and sprinting - similar, but not the same.

  • When you make killers dependent on add-ons, they will play for points so they can get add-ons. That means farming games. That means Doctors just shocking people over and over, without any intention of killing them. That means slugging. Is that what you want? And if you make killers dependent on add-ons while banning people who actually play to acquire the necessary add-ons, you'll end up with much longer queues - if you can get into a trial at all.

IMO, add-ons should modulate the killer's power, not serve as temporary boosts to give them a chance at winning. Freddy is a good example of this. Snares and pallets aren't better or worse than each other, they're just different and need to be played in different ways. While I believe he should be able to swap between them without add-ons, the basic idea that his add-ons change his power so that it requires a different playstyle is one I can get behind.

  • @heartstone_malone said:

Ok and no one said that anyone said you can't disconnect. The argument is, once again, that it is a dumb rule that is not healthy for the game. It causes people to stop playing and then the player base dwindles. Then whose forums will you scream nonsense at ppl on? Like why are you so hostile about an opinion? I obey the rules, i never cheat, hack, only DC when glitched or being trolled, hell I don't even BM. I would get slugged and BMed by killers just for frustrating them with long chases. So I do well and get punished by the killer AND now the devs for a DC? Absolutely not. So yea i did move on to a more fair and fun experience and for all you know, enough ppl have done the same to cause them to remove it. I don't understand what you don't understand about what we're saying. I'm not condoning DCs I'm just saying that the penalty is the wrong way to address it. It feels bad when your options are get trolled for 4 minutes or get banned for 5 or more and just because it NeVeR HaPpEnS to you doesn't invalidate the experience of others. In my 1500+ hours of this game, I have seen a lot of toxicity so you're either lying or willfully ignorant.

Pretty much every single multiplayer game where you queue up to get matches has a DC penalty, yet somehow they all manage to have active player bases, in spite of said penalty. Hell, I'd go so far as to say they have an active player base because of the DC penalty, since nobody wants to queue up only to have the game immediately lost by someone who disconnects when their opponent sneezes too hard.

Question orion, do you think the same of hook suicides?

That's a case of people misusing a tool. Hook suicides are great if your teammate finds the hatch but doesn't have a key, for example. However, they're not intended to be an alternative to DCing.

  • @LittilAvindar said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1630293#Comment_1630293

That sounds like their problem. People should be punished for disconnecting because they don't like how the match is going, and idc what side they're on. Personally, I think survivors get screwed more, because if one of their team mates disconnects during a match, it's suddenly unfair, and the match keeps going. The killer gets to have a field day, and the remaining survivors, being at a disadvantage, pretty much get stomped and lose their rank. I don't expect the killer to respect the fact survivor's team mates screwed them over, but at the very least any time anybody disconnects, they need to give all the remaining a safety, minimum (since it isn't their fault their team mate decided to be a ######### bag). If it's the killer, obviously the match ends, but I'm tired of everyone else being punished for the actions of others. If multiple survivors leave, obviously the penalty for leaving is the loss of everything, from points to items.

That's also blatantly false. They removed it because hackers were able to increase the DC penalty for certain players.

  • Because of the laws of physics. No amount of netcoding, hitbox fine-tuning, or predictive algorithms can avoid this one simple truth: information cannot travel faster than the speed of light.

  • @Masterninja said:

Well, neither of you use those perks all the time, I am right?

You only use the meta perks, because you are so boring. XD

38 perks of this list they are never played. And you really prefer the developers updates and chapters with this ######### perks?

Perks on your list that I use or used to use quite extensively:

    • Premonition
    • Poised
    • Fixated
    • Saboteur
    • Calm Spirit

Perks on your list that I never see used:

    • Wake Up!

    Meta perks I use:

    • [ERROR 404]

Even if none of this were true, it wouldn't change the fact: your reworks are broken and would tilt the game toward the survivor side even more.

  • It's not a missing feature. It's not even a QoL change. It's something they like to add because it makes killers more unique. When the game was released, every single killer had the same terror radius and chase music. It wasn't until the Shape*, I believe, that they started making things like this.

*No, the Huntress's humming doesn't count because it's not a TR.

  • Not necessarily. It's most likely an MMO thing, not related to DbD at all.

I guess you could take your own advice if you don't like it " If you don't enjoy the game, then stop playing it"

#2 is detrimental to the game and forces bhvr to act or lose money.

#1. What problem? i see no problem, they got banned didn't they?

    1. The problem is the report system isn't all that great. Everyone knows it.
    2. If the game is projected to become detrimental to their bottom line, they're not going to suddenly have a new report system at the ready, because that's not how programming works. My guess is, they'd just abandon the game altogether and work on a new project. Why would they dump more money into something that's just going to keep losing money?
  • @Zozzy said:

Why change it if other people are going to do the work for you for free?

We have had 3 years of this. What would you consider enough time?

Listen, we've all got two choices:

    1. Use the report system as it exists and demand it be improved. Hackers still get banned, even if it's annoying for us, which makes the game better for us.
    2. Don't use the report system and demand it be improved. Hackers won't get banned, which makes the game worse for us and might even kill it altogether.

Personally, I'd rather the game stayed alive. I want to keep playing it. That's why I went with the first option. Refusing to participate because the system isn't perfect just guarantees those who abuse the system get a free pass.

see that is where you're wrong. you can enjoy a game, and you can also dislike annoying aspects of it, if you can avoid them annoying aspects then by all means the game is ment to be played the way said person wants to play it. if you do not like that well then id suggest you take it up with behavior as they just keep adding more and more annoying aspects to the game that just kills more and more of the enjoyable aspects of the game. making more and more people just dc or suicide on hook to get to the next match in hopes of getting into a match that is more enjoyable. nothing wrong with that they spent there money to play a game and they are allowed to play it in the manner they desire to. albeit if the game was free to play then id agree with you 100% but the fact they had to buy the game to play it they have every right to do as they want to enjoy the game they bought.

Well, I paid for the game and I'm not enjoying it because of people who DC. Also, fun fact: you do not have the right to do whatever you want. It's in the EULA you didn't read.

The behavior you're defending is the same as going to a hotel, taking a ######### in their pool, and when they try to kick you out because you're disrupting every other customer you complain that you paid them money, so you're free to do whatever. You are not free to disrupt their business, no matter how much money you paid.

We are currently looking into your issue and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

    Thank you for your patience!

    BEhaviour"

Also considering chat and what mr haxor said he has been reported repeatedly, without any punishment, so it's hard for me to believe the system works. Plus as I said earlier, none feedback in terms of what action were taken in cases reported by me. Ok, I'm taking on me this most recent one, as it was sent few days ago, but there was another one sent much earlier, to which i didn't get any info either.

Because you're relying on timing and skill rather than a crutch to unhook.

I get why people take that perk, because they assume they have a camper or because they don't want to have to wait to unhook someone, or because they like to just bum rush the killer. With the exception of the camper scenario though, it's a crutch.

Because you're relying on timing and skill rather than a crutch to unhook.

We have a winner. I also don't like hook farming.

I'm all for splitting the queue. Regular DCers can all not play together so that the people who actually want to play the game can do so without disruption. I don't mind if my queue times are longer.

Hitting the queue button isn't a contract. I'm not agreeing to do anything.

Also why is the enjoyment of complete strangers more valuable than my own? Why lay on the ground for minutes because killers want to ruin people's day? Why be picked off right when the match started and Moried? If you want to bring something extremely op, uncounterable or scummy, I have the right to leave the game. And I don't see why that should be punishable.

Fact is, other people matter too, and you do not, in fact, have the right to ruin their trials by DCing, which you'd know if you'd read the rules. DC penalties were added exactly because of people like you, and I can hardly wait until they're back and you're off the queue.

Physicist. I only asked because your pseudo code seems horribly inefficient, since it's constantly checking whether the power was activated instead of just toggling the change on activation/deactivation. It also gives your claims more credibility if your credentials are on the table, so to speak.

Dude, with all due respect, if you have no clue what you are talking about stop contradicting people that do. The whole "functionality" you keep talking about is this:

    if(power activated) SetModel(power_model)

    else SetModel(regular_model)

    THAT'S IT. Big functionality.

Literally all they have to do for legion is 3 lines of code. Stop acting like it's complicated, it's not. They just don't want to spend their time creating the different animations/models for the masks. It's not about programming it into the game.

Do you know how to program?

  • @BabyDweetMain said:

No. I'm not being forced to play a match that I'm not having fun in. If I don't want to play a 5 minute game with a iri head huntress with an ebony Mori then I'm shouldn't be punished for avoiding that try hard. The game needs an avoid player option however.

This is a multiplayer game. If you don't want to play, why are you queuing up in the first place? Go play KYF with people who want to play with the same arbitrary rules you do instead of ruining the trials for everyone else.

  • DS because it's easier to reproduce than the hook bug.

  • I just go AFK as killer and leave ASAP as survivor. The latter because I've seen more than enough survivors dying because the others wouldn't leave, and the former because I know survivors are just gonna teabag and "escape" a chase, neither of which are beneficial to me.

Friday the 13th had already been announced as early as 2015, including a trailer for the game itself. Certainly, BHVR released their title first, but it's pretty obvious that it was a rushed job. Can't possibly be a coincidence.

It happens in movies all the time, so why can't it be a coincidence? It's much more likely that they were both in development at more or less the same time - DbD first, since it released earlier - and were released on schedule.

1 … 88 89 90 91 92 … 343
