I complain because the survivor offers very poor gameplay agaisnt the killer. Like i said to other guy, if you wanna play competitive hide and seek go out with your friends.
I hate when i end the match with 3 bbq tokens and the other braindead survivor escapes through hatch absurd mechanic.
But hey, guess its my fault when the other guy had distortion, urban evasion, fixated and spine chill.
I complain because the survivor offers very poor gameplay agaisnt the killer.
And the killer offers very poor gameplay against the survivor. Survivors and killers are opponents, we're not supposed to play in ways that the other side finds advantageous.
Like i said to other guy, if you wanna play competitive hide and seek go out with your friends.
There's a pandemic going on, didn't you hear? And local laws prohibit people from putting each other on meat hooks to sacrifice them to an evil entity.
I hate when i end the match with 3 bbq tokens and the other braindead survivor escapes through hatch absurd mechanic.
So one survivor wins (escapes) and the others die, but you think the ones who died had the better playstyle. Is it me, or is that a little backwards?
But hey, guess its my fault when the other guy had distortion, urban evasion, fixated and spine chill.
Nobody* uses Distortion. I'd have believed you if you'd swapped that out with Iron Will.

So now im bad, lool ( i dont know you, but just in case... you re bad) pretty much a common response in the internet those days xD
That's what it sounded like to me, yes. People who complain about stealth players (not talking about the ones who sit in a corner and never do anything, I mean real stealth players who help with the objectives without being spotted by the killer) usually have trouble finding survivors in the first place, which is why they prefer the ones who run out into the open.
Your comments support my hypothesis.

Would be weird to lose you mid chase (unless you have the new lucky break + iron will), but as long as you give me chase i have no problem.
I also understand hiding when you re death hook, but man, i cant emphatize with the survivors that sit on gens, hide and escape with 13k points...
I understand fun like humor, is very subjective, but this is just braindead gameplay.
Disregard the made-up points, note the "escape" part. They wouldn't escape if you'd found them, since you supposedly camp them.
-
@xEzekanarioX said:
Playing stealthy only shows how bad and scared you are from the killer. Do you feel is fair escaping without having any contact with the killer?
If you want to play hide and seek go out with your imaginary friends.
I also camp that type of person if i find him.
Don't blame me because you're bad at finding survivors. I'm just playing to my strengths (and your weaknesses, apparently).

Survivors do anything: "man these entitled survivors always doing scummy things"
Killers literally DC because they don't like the map/they think it's SWF/ they don't like the skins/items: "fair and balanced, as all things should be".
Do you see the hypocrisy?
Please, point out someone who supported the OP.

40-50 meters? Where do you come up with a measurement like that?
The fact that most killers' walking speed is either 4.4 m/s or 4.6 m/s. Multiply that by 10 seconds and you get 44 meters and 46 meters, respectively. I broadened it to 40-50 to account for killers who are slower/faster.
-
The first DLC I bought was the first DLC that was released. I do not regret it in the slightest.
-
No.
-
There are two ways to meet all your requirements:
- Massively increase the size of maps (severe nerf to killers)
- Decrease the number of generators that spawn (severe nerf to survivors)
Keep in mind that if you were found within 10 seconds, that means the killer traversed 40-50 meters. That's not "near".
-
This would just make the game grindier as people get and equip perks on characters to complement their passives. I say no, the game is grindy enough as it is.

Probably meant to put in Dance With Me instead of Lithe or Sprint Burst.

THANK YOU. Hardly anybody is understanding why I'm against so much lore, it's not because it's too lengthy to read, it's because it kills the vibe. I like mystery to the horror. I liked the old stuff that left room for imagination and didn't tell a whole movie plot.
I like it for the same reason you don't. "Leaving stuff to the imagination" is a sign of poor writing, IMO. It shows that the writer(s) didn't take the time to think about what they were writing and are just hoping the fans will fill in the gaps with their fan fiction.

Detailing how they would kill you? What the actual ######### dude?
That's what happens when people don't suffer consequences for their actions and/or have others actually reward them for being dicks. The best course of action isn't to collect their salt, it's to report each and every single one of them. Make it as difficult as possible for them to be like that with impunity and never engage with them in any way.
-
For 50 minutes? Absolutely.
-
It's better not to ask questions you don't want to know the answer to.
-
Data is essential to check if your hypotheses match with reality. However, data also needs to be interpreted, and incomplete data (kill rates, for instance) should not be the sole basis for decisions.
Feedback is just another type of data, it's not separate from it. Data is literally information you gather to make your decisions.
Not using data at all would result in making completely arbitrary decisions that may* or may not have any basis in reality.

There is no hostage games anymore. If you only go to find survivors at generators and they are not there that is not survivors holding you hostage. That is survivors knowing death awaits them at generators and to survive they must wait.
Too many tracking perks exist in dbd to ever say you couldn't find a survivor till you felt like a hostage.
You can't swap perks mid-trial, though. And the devs (the people who define the rules) said that it is indeed holding the game hostage.
-
It shouldn't be reworked. A 1v1 is supposed to be in the killer's favor because he's supposed to be able to take on 4 survivors at once. The only way to "fix" this would be to effectively buff survivors as more of them fail, which is absurd.
-

This is where it's interesting, though. Because, if you slug all four people and refuse to hook them, then Team Survivor can't do anything to progress or end the game. Team Killer can, because hooking people would progress things. So, refusing to hook anyone once they're all slugged could be holding them hostage, from that point of view. I'm not sure whether the fact that the game will end on its own makes a difference.
It's not, because the game state is progressing and the trial will eventually end.
The killer is not refusing to progress things, they are simply progressing them in a different way than you expect.

Can someone give me a transcript? Youtube doesn't work for me.
I don't even need to watch the video to know it's a scene where a killer chases someone around a table. Doesn't really explain much because that's 100% realistic. The guy either keeps chasing the other person around and around, or they change directions and the person they're chasing - whom I'm guessing has a functioning brain - does the same.
-
@Hex_Llama said:
What counts as holding the game hostage has always been kind of vague. IMO, there are two things that have to be true:
- One team has the ability to progress or end the match, but refuses to do it.
- The other team does not have the ability to progress or end the match.
I think the debate comes in when we try to decide what "having the ability to progress or end the match" means. I would argue that, if the survivors are better at hiding than you are at finding them, then, after a certain amount of time, it's clear that you don't have the ability to progress the match, therefore, if they're refusing to do the actions they could do to progress the match (working on gens), they're holding you hostage. But at least some other people would disagree.
This is correct. Slugging, for instance, is not holding the game hostage because the trial will end, eventually.

That thing I said about PTB being "worthless" was just an opinion thrown out there to spice up the thread, but anyway that was not my point, my point was to make PTB available on as many platforms as they can, even though 25% may be a lot, why not have 50%, or 75%?
If you understand statistical analysis, you can do a lot with 25% of the population. The benefits for the devs would be minor at best. Don't get me wrong, though, I would like to see more people on the PTB.

I'd wager most people play on Steam, but that's beside the point. I don't think the Microsoft Store allows the devs to have a PTB as easily as Steam does.

To be fair, this is exactly the problem. The meta perks patch up fundamental problems with this game's design (tunneling/camping/slugging prevention. Gen speeds for killer meta perks).
It's really hard to justify slotting this when you already pretty much have to run either DS or BT, an info perk like Kindred/Bond if you're not in a SWF, and then I run WGLF to help with the silly blood point grind. Throw in an exhaustion perk and you really only have one perk to play around with as a non-SWF survivor :/
You do not "have" to run any perks whatsoever. You choose to run perks because it's much easier than learning how to counter things by gameplay alone.

Why not just keep the angle shorter to begin with, rather than incrementally decreasing? Was this to counter screen-edge as a marker?
My guess is, to reward players for cleansing totems.

@GoodBoyKaru said:

A lot of solos don't cleanse totems due to the fact that if you cleanse an obvious totem then any NOED spawn would be in a more hidden place. Adding a totem counter, whilst it wouldn't fix this issue entirely, would incentivise cleansing totems, particularly if the team knows that people are also doing so.
I disagree. If anything, it'd make people lazy about it because they'd know someone else was doing it. Regardless, SWF does not have this information unless solo survivors refuse to cleanse totems, which was the point.

and that's just a solo survivor problem, plain and simple
Which, making the totem counter aspect of Small Game basekit would completely solve.
How would that solve the fact that solo survivors don't cleanse totems? Again, if SWF can tell each other exactly how many totems are left, it's only because solo survivors don't cleanse totems. And if solo survivors don't cleanse totems, that's a problem with solo survivors.
-
@Kebek said:

Totem counter. Whenever a totem is cleansed they can tell each other about it so they know how many totems were cleansed and how many are left. If they really want, they can also share where each totem was cleansed but the totem counter alone would help solos a lot.
They can tell each other how many totems they cleansed, but unless it's a 4-man SWF, they don't know how many totems are left because they don't know how many the solo survivors cleansed. If they can, it's because the solo survivors aren't cleansing the totems, and that's just a solo survivor problem, plain and simple.

Honestly thats one thing i hope that they address with pig since they said people could abuse the chase mechanic with legion but pig can still do it. I can put a trap on a survivor and just follow them until they die nothing they can do about it.
The difference is that a trap takes, what, 3 minutes? If you do that as a killer, you will lose.

What I love about Empathy is the huge range at which you are able to see where survivors (most likely those being chased are) then you can work on a gen opposite from that, and if they stop to heal or something, then you know Michael is no longer on them and has switched. In a map like The Game (which is very small) you are guaranteed to be able to see auras map-wide. Unlike bond which has a 32 meter range.
Also, it’s main purpose is to spot the injured so you are able to also heal them if need be, which against a SM Michael it becomes crucial to be able to stay healthy and take a hit.
FYI, Empathy's range is map-wide*.
*Although it has a 128-meter radius, there is no map bigger than that, thereby making its radius map-wide.

But they never said it was intended did they?
And knowing most developers, do you really think camping was a mechanic the devs were fully aware of?
Why would they frown upon it then, if they are perfectly fine with it?
I can read between the lines and deep down you know it's not a normal thing to do. It's just widely accepted now.
But they never said it was intended did they?
Dunno, I don't read every statement they make. However, based on your question, I'm guessing they never said it wasn't intended either.
And knowing most developers, do you really think camping was a mechanic the devs were fully aware of?
Yes? It was there from day one, and they acknowledged real facecamping (and only real facecamping) as an exploit.
Why would they frown upon it then, if they are perfectly fine with it?
Just because it's not an exploit doesn't mean they're "perfectly fine with it". Those things are not related in any way.
For example, speed runners often use glitches to maximize the speed at which they complete games. Developers are fine with that, even though that's exploiting the game. One does not imply the other.
I can read between the lines and deep down you know it's not a normal thing to do. It's just widely accepted now.
"Reading between the lines" is often just "projecting my opinions onto someone else", which is what you're doing. If you don't even accept the devs' own words, how do you expect to argue your point?

You literally added a few words in front of the definition I pulled out of, so go figure.
And plus, you should also read my post again before replying.
I said that camping was an exploit of the GAME'S DESIGN.
Meaning Dead By Daylight was meant to be played as a continuous, paced game, not sit and stare stimulation.
Is this so hard for people to understand? Why's everyone pretending that camping is not normal nor was it intended by the devs from the very start?
The devs frown upon tea-bagging, camping, tunneling and etc, but that doesn't mean they can straight-out ban it.
Because, like they said: "It's a viable option".
And I repeat myself again, sure do whatever you please, but what's so hard about acknowledging it's a literal exploit of a killer and a game mechanic 🤔?
And I repeat myself again, sure do whatever you please, but what's so hard about acknowledging it's a literal exploit of a killer and a game mechanic 🤔?
Because it's simply not true. I will not "acknowledge" this any more than I will "acknowledge" the Earth is flat, and neither will anyone else.
You are not the person who determines what is or isn't intended, that's up to the devs. If they say it's intended, then that's the end of it.

So you really think camping was an intended feature of Dead By Daylight?
You are telling me that the devs during alpha, beta, testing & release all had camping in mind and were okay with it?
Dude, get real.
Camping was founded by the players.
You can do whatever sure, but at least acknowledge it was smth that was definitely not part of the game's inception and should be avoided since it's not the best way to play.
Facecamping - real facecamping, where the killer blocks the survivors' "unhook" interaction - was not intended. As such, it was fixed. That's the only type of camping that was not intended, and it was removed. What does that tell you?
-
@Homemade_Cookies said:

Here is a definition of Exploit from Merriam Webster:
"to make use of meanly or unfairly for one's own advantage"
CAMPING IS AN EXPLOIT OF THE GAME'S DESIGN.
Got that now?
Geez now I must pull out the definition of words for yah? Just because you don't understand?
I specifically mentioned that Bubba was never intended to be a camping meme during his development.
Players, however started to exploit his capabilities and thus the whole camping Bubba started.
Teabagging is the same.
It's supposed to be used as a crouch mechanic and yet people started to use it as a toxic mean.
That's an exploit of the developer's game design.
Devs did state that camping and tunneling are viable, but they did say that it's not an optimal game decision. Meaning they have negative viewpoints about them.
Sheesh.
Who are you to say what is or isn't intended by the game's design? Are you a developer?
Developers are the ones who design the game and have a say in what is or isn't intended. If they say it's not an exploit of the game's design, then it's not an exploit of the game's design, because they are the ones who designed it in the first place.

It's not supposed to, because no perk can outright stop someone from using a certain strategy. That's by design. However, it does harm them if they try, which is the point.
