So you are saying something that is designed and intended to be used in game shouldn't actually be used? Why don't you run Monstrous Shrine? Cause that's also something you won't ever get to use.
No, I'm saying that if you bring DS to avoid being tunneled and the threat of DS is enough to avoid being tunneled, then you successfully achieved your goal, even if you never got to stun the killer with the perk.
-
@Mugombo said:
What you really mean:
The more I play killer, the more tunnel vision I get and only notice criticism against killers.
I only play survivor and can see the double standards the vocal minority applies to killers.
-
It's not a wasted perk slot if it does indeed prevent the killer from tunneling. People who think perks are only useful if you get to use them need to look up MAD - and I don't mean the magazine.

They're not counters. If you're stealthing, you might as well not be in the match, because you're not being productive and you're not running the killer. And sure, I can be tricky with my movement, but after fooling a Nurse once with that because she was testing for my skill level, there's no guarantee she falls for it again. She'll just use her precise mouse movements to react perfectly, and be given a generous hit by the game as usual.
It seems you think "stealth" is about doing nothing, forever. You couldn't be more wrong. Besides, if, as you claim, Nurse can't be looped, then why does it matter if you're having her chase you or not?
-
@danielmaster87 said:
My problem with Nurse is that I can't outloop her, even for a reasonable amount of time. Of course I'm not supposed to loop a killer for 5 gens, but I can't seem to loop a decent Nurse for half a gen on my best day. So what can I do? Hope that she misblinks by doubling back and being inconsistent with my movement, or hiding which I detest. She doesn't have any REAL counters, unlike every other killer in the game.
You literally just listed counters and then said you just don't like one of them.
-
What purpose would this serve?
-
So it's bugged. Report it as such.

@Jasix said:
Nurse is the killer I win most against. The second I find out that I am going against a nurse I literally imagine two coins flipping at the exact same time - and that is how I make my moves when they blink - I flip the coins in my head and then do whatever the coins land on. In other words - I play completely unpredictable. I forget about loops and strategies - and simply...spur of the moment decide what to do from a possibility of 4 choices (heads/heads, heads/tails, tails/tails, and tails/heads). DBD is a strategy game - revise your strategy if it isn't working.
I have never purposefully disconnected because to me that isn't a strategy - it's more akin to a temper tantrum.
Congrats for figuring out how to play against her. Like you, Nurse is the killer I win most against (at least when it comes to chases; with teammates who kill themselves/DC, all bets are off when it comes to actually escaping).
Since you're a good teammate, here's a tip: being unpredictable helps, but that's just the first step. If you understand how her power works, you can predict where she's going, and use that to your advantage.

No, that is cowardice. Taking the full brunt of the tbags and clicking flashlights is the tough guy route. Leaving the match is just cowardly.
Being a tough guy is not about willingly putting yourself through abuse. That's the way of insecure men who want to appear tough. Tough guys have nothing to prove.

Yes, I agree nobody likes losing, but when theres almost always a chance im gonna lose because theres almost nothing I can do agaisnt her to defend myself, ill just take the fat L instantly.
There's a lot you can do against her. Play her, learn her, and learn what you can do against her. She's not as difficult to play against as people claim. However, because people refuse to learn and immediately give up, she becomes "unbeatable".
It's like immediately folding in Poker if you're up against a specific player. They're not unbeatable, you're just not trying and don't even understand how they play.

Or, you know its annoying to lose to an uncounterable killer who brings thana sloppy ruin and undying and slugs because god forbid she needs any of those things if she can down quickly and efficiently.
I find Nurse to be one of the easiest killers to win a chase with. However, that comes from experience (former Nurse main here) that gave me a deeper understanding of her mechanics than simply watching someone play her.
Yes, losing is annoying. That's why you want to win, because losing is bad.
-
Just cleanse the totems. It's not difficult and you have perks and items to help with the task.

Well, I personally don't play killer much because I find it extremely boring. And yes, easy against 99% of survs. Especially if you play killers for braindead people like Spirit or Freddy that basically carry themselves.
If you don't play killer much, you derank and go up against newbies. It's no wonder you find it boring and win easily.

Yeah, lets just bring the most anti counter killer in the game and meta perks and lose a rank anyways because all good nurses do is slug.
If you're facing so many Nurse players that this is a problem, you could just equip an anti-slug perk, or perhaps learn to counter slugging by reading some guides.
-
If the gate's open and the killer has NOED with no totem in sight, or if I'm injured, I'm out. If you wanted to escape, you should've played better. That's my view, including when the shoe is on the other foot and I'm the one being left behind.
-
I'm guessing you stop getting skill checks (this is speculative, but it's based on how I would implement the skill check system, and my hunches on these things tend to be correct).
-
For survivors:
- Can only be used if all the remaining survivors are in the same group or if there's only one survivor remaining. Must be unanimous.
- Gives full points and emblems to the killer (so it counts as however many sacrificial states the survivors have left, as well as the appropriate number of hits and chases, assuming the survivors had been fully healed). No matter what, the killer is guaranteed a black pip, minimum. This is so survivors can't screw killers out of points and/or rank.
For killers:
- Can be used at any point during the trial.
- Gives full points and emblems to the survivors (so it counts as if the survivors had repaired all the remaining generators, opened the gates, won chases, healed each other, and so on). No matter what, survivors are guaranteed a black pip, minimum. This is so killers can't screw survivors out of points and/or rank.
-
- The end of looping and the rise of stealth as the main way to survive.
- The end of toxicity (or at least toxic ######### being heavily punished).
- More players taking responsibility for their actions (for example, survivors no longer blaming NOED for their losses and instead owning up to the fact that their refusal to cleanse totems is why NOED activated in the first place).

I don't recall making this statement...

A few things...
- The crossplay symbol just means someone is not on your specific platform, it doesn't mean they're on PC.
- I highly doubt you're being targeted for being a console player anyway.
-
If they said it's a WIP, then it's a WIP. Just because you think it worked flawlessly doesn't make it so. My guess is, they're still working on it.
-
I wanna get rid of toxicity, but I would also like to be able to play the game. This is gonna be a "no" from me.
-
That's not taking the game hostage because it will end after 4 minutes. Just go make yourself a sandwich, watch a YT video, whatever. The killer will be taunting someone who's essentially AFK and you get to have some fun.

I'm familiar with McCote's Year Review blog post. The exact word are
Obviously, I can’t tell you what’s next but I can say that we are not done surprising you. We are working on a lot of new stuff for you and I can already tell you that our 5th year anniversary event will feature some impressive stars that will blow your minds.
Honestly as much as I like the speculation, I can only see him telling us, that they have something "great" for the anniversary. Stars can basicly also just mean a well known licence in general. I wouldn't read too much into it yet, before we get better hints. We really need to wait for the anniversary beeing closer. I mean there is still a midchapter coming beforehand.
Could also be a reference to S.T.A.R.S. (https://residentevil.fandom.com/wiki/Special_Tactics_and_Rescue_Service).

Offtopic but how good is the online mode?
If you have/make friends, it's good. Otherwise, you're unlikely to find any players outside the Anomaly (MP hub) and very specific areas that large, coordinated groups of players "colonized".
Some players do report bugs seemingly associated with MP, but I've never experienced them myself. My guess is they're exploiting it in some way (or use mods).
HG also added a new mode that's similar to a Battle Pass, where you start a new save and accomplish a number of goals over two months (more than enough time, trust me) to unlock stuff for all your saves (the ones you have now and the ones you might create in the future). It's not predatory, many people report accomplishing all the goals in around 20 hours, which you can definitely do in two months.
EDIT: If you decide to try it, let me know. The guy I usually play with isn't interested, and I get the feeling the game would bore my BF to tears.

I'm all for this but don't be a coward and hide behind the premise of "you were banned because of X" when what you want is a Mbs requirement for the game.
A stable connection is needed, not necessarily a fast one. The same is true of every multiplayer game, and pretty much all of them have DC penalties.
-
@WaluigiTime said:
Indeed banning in general does little to prevent bad behavior, and usually leads to people just shelfing the game. It also gives the real trolls nice structured lines to operate within while they do their work.
I've never seen a game fail/die because players were being banned for breaking common-sense rules. Quite the opposite, in fact: I've seen a ton of games fail/die because there was little to no moderation.

Eh, if it was then I wouldn't be able to find a full lobby of 8 players, less then a minute after I que every single time. And it's still like this 3 years after the lawsuit had started (at least on Xbox anyway).
I guarentee you if it wasn't for the lawsuit, the game would have had even more players and still be receiving content to this day. The devs were nowhere near finished and were just about to release Uber Jason and the spaceship map before everything went to hell. Clearly they were still making a substantial amount of money on the game. It doesn't matter that it never had the same player numbers as DBD, that didn't mean that it was dead and/or dying.
On the other hand, the data doesn't lie: the vast majority of the playerbase left the game long before the lawsuit. It might not be "literally zero players" dead, but it was definitely a flop.
It lost 70% of its playerbase in two months, come on. It's OK to admit it was a flop, even if you like the game. I liked Deathgarden, but I can still admit it was a failure.

Thing is, games like Friday and Last Year had suffered due to outside circumstances, like the licensing conflict and the Discord store issue + failing to get a publisher.
Friday the 13th is very alive on PS4 (not sure about other platforms), it's been alive for years despite the lack of planned content. If Miller had maybe kept his mouth shut, maybe Friday would still be focused on. (No offense to him, I feel that the artist should keep the rights to their work unless they're officially signed away, but him deciding to step out now is what ended this game, and him winning is what basically ruined the series forever, since now Miller holds one big right while Seth holds the rest)
And the Discord store deciding to pull the plug is one thing that ruined things for the Last Year devs, plus the balance problems on the Steam release, and Covid ending their attempts for good by sabotaging the deal just before they could sign the contract.
It's not like all of the games died solely because "they were bad".

No the Reaction is simple, the weight of the object adds to the force you apply to the throw in the direction you are throwing it, which continues after the object has left your hand until met with an equal amount of resistance. This does not translate to the object applying an opposing force to the throw, just that whatever kinetic force you put into it continues in the direction you hurled it. I was stating that they took the saying too literally, just like you did with this comment, so my advice to you is to prove this theory wrong: go out, grab a hammer, and perform an overhand throw as hard as you can on open ground, and tell me how much your body was tossed "backwards and up" from the attempt.... go on, I can wait.
Almo is literally a physicist, and this comment is just wrong.
- Newton's second law, in its most famous form: F=m*a
- Newton's third law states that the force you apply on an object is equal to the force the object applies to you.
However, whereas the (presumably rigid) object has a mass of, say, 1 kg, your body has a mass of 80 kg. The acceleration imparted to you is 1/80 of the acceleration imparted to the object. That's not to say you remain perfectly static, as that would be a violation of Newton's third law. However, you hardly notice it because not only are you much heavier, you also have the advantage of being on the ground, which helps counter that force by partially transferring it to the Earth via friction, as well as having many moving parts, which serve as inertial dampers by absorbing the force.
In space, astronauts carry pens (which have a tiny mass compared to 99% of everyday objects) with the express purpose of allowing them to move (should they get stuck in an area where they can't reach anything) by simply tossing the pen. Newton's third law doesn't stop applying just because you're throwing a very small object.
With the physics lesson over, the "real-world" answer would be what Deadeye said, regarding the aiming issue:
@Deadeye said:
the argumentation is kinda flawed. if the law says everything, then it means everything. you could also say the "as that's what happens when you Catch an object" part about a gun shot. action and counter reaction when shooting, action and counter reaction on landing. when you accelerate the knife, you get the "feedback" or counter reaction back into your hand. try throwing a knive over 10+ meters but instead of holding the handle you hold the edge with the tip against your finger, and then tell me again about "no reaction".
basically it is just kinda stupid to call it recoil. just think about it as worse aim when trying to throw faster. you can take your time to aim or you can just spray and pray. when throwing 3 knives per second I'm pretty sure 99% of all people will have a worse aim compared to one throw per 3 seconds.
The actual explanation is that it's done for balancing purposes. Whether or not it's needed is a different discussion altogether.
-
They already said there's a slight increase to the rarity of items in the Bloodweb. Whether or not that's perceived as worthwhile depends on the exact percentage (unknown, as far as I know) and your understanding of statistics.

But sadly it will never be a thing thanks to legal issues. Dbd just got lucky enough to be licensed by some big names in the horror industry and they backpack off it.

Look at killer perks and then look at survivor perks for obvious proof. Killer perks never get nerfed like survivor perks. Ruin buffed, BBQ still not nerfed, Tinkerer massively buffed. NOED still in the game. Killers really do have the easy mode.
Cleanse Ruin, get in a locker for BBQ, use your eyes to counter Tinkerer (very easy to determine if the killer has it by just paying attention, for the record), cleanse NOED. There, all your problems have been solved.

I mean there’s plenty of ways to do no skill tunneling. Sitting near the hook invisible with wraith, then hitting the guy the second they get off the hook for example. Ignores BT, if they don’t have DS it can be a free win if it’s done early.
Solo Q teams will never be able to communicate what is happening before it’s been done. Then at that point the skill of the other survivors is almost irrelevant unless someone goes on a godly run.
Two words: Protection hit. If the unhooker really wanted to help the other survivor, they'd take a hit.
