  • How many times are you gonna make the same thread?

  • I use Insidious on the Wraith. Is that weird enough?

  • Computer says no.

Perhaps it is so. But not in a game. Games should be balanced for both sides. Would it be ok if, for instance, there are two teams, Red and Blue. From the lore, you know Red team is the most powerful. So you give players in the Red team the ability to one shot everybody, while those unlucky enough to be in Blue team have to hit them 5 times? Not at all.

This is an asymmetrical game. When I said "power role", I meant the role that's alone in an asymmetrical game.

The thing is, it shouldn't be just an add-on. She has to become strategic, as other killers are, not just be the easy to play type. Too much room for mistakes usally equals an unbalanced character. And while she may not be completely unbalanced as is, nobody should be given the option to spam freely.

The power role should be the one allowed to make the most mistakes.

That's because there's a max wiggling speed to avoid macros.

So, you are saying people who can fill the bar with every press are using macros? That doesn't explain why the game will not register my key presses, which almost has the same effect as pressing nothing.

No, I'm saying that there's a programmed limit to how quickly you can wiggle because otherwise people would use macros. Is English not your first language?
If you're pressing the keys too quickly, it is possible for the game to simply not interpret them correctly. I suggest you test this in KYF. It could also be a bug, so if the testing in KYF doesn't yield any results, you should report it in the bug report forum.

There's quite a bit I posted that relates to last second switching, jsu because it points out issues on both sides doesn't invalidate it. If all you're wanting to do is cherry pick survivor bashing only comments then you shouldn't be on the forum anymore than certain survivors doing the same.

I won't mention the survivors by name but some are on the front page of the forum with killer bashing posts or were yesterday.

I'm wanting us to stay on topic instead of trying to use red herrings to justify ######### behavior.

Lobby dodging is the source of the problem.

This is the exactly what caused the Last Second Switch to begin with. If you as Killers can't handle the items survivors bring into the match then it's time for you to find a new game. You shouldn't be allowed to cherry pick your games just because you see someone with a flashlight. You know I wish I could see the Killer before the match starts so I can decide if I want to play against them. So quit whining about something you caused Killers.

Instead, now you have Killers who DC mid-trial. Is that any better for you?

It doesn't change the fact it's wrong, you're basically dodging because you don't get your way. If someone brings an item you don't like dodge, picks a character you don't like dodge. don't like the map you get, dodge. Don't get someone down within 1st few minutes or within 20 seconds of match start. dodge.

You as the killer can clearly see what items and characters they're playing so you can choose the most optimal killer and addons.

**Now before you get out that last seconds witch I've said for a long time I don't agree with it or like it. I've also said survivors should be locked in at 15 seconds. The killers then get locked in at 7 seconds or 5 seconds. So you can't complain about switching at last second. **

But at the same time if you lobby dodge that late into the timer then you should get a lobby dodge penalty or something like that. You can't say you're dodging due to ping because you've had 40 seconds to watch that person. (That's an example of the average timer not totally accurate)

Most of the time when killers dodge it isn't because of last second switching it's because they want the easiest possible lobby. I see killers dodge if they don't get the right map or there's a competing map offering. I've had it happen the most with Doctors don't get Gideons with extra range and ultra rare addon and dodge.

I see it happen with other killers not liking the map rng, well deal with it like everyone else has too. I hate getting Lery's and Gideons with certain killers. Getting Coldwin or Macmillan with certain ones is a pain as well.

But lets not kid ourselves in that most of the dodging is done purely for the easiest match possible. The excuses that it's a 4 man ds/fl squad is completely overused and the stats prove it. Again there should be a longer timer for the killer to choose and survivors should get locked in at 15 seconds.

Let's stay on the subject, which is last-second switching, instead of going for a tu quoque fallacy.

I don't have an issue with the time it take to wiggle out, I DO have an issue of how many key presses it takes to register ONE bar of wiggle. I don't necessarily think it's the game's fault, but it does get tiring spamming the wiggle keys to register one out of every 20 key presses it seems. I had this same issue with breaking grip on Friday the 13th. The difficulty is fine where it's at, I just want my button mashing to matter, and YES, I am alternating the A and D keys, like you are supposed to. I would be spamming those keys all day, but the game acts like I'm pressing nothing.

That's because there's a max wiggling speed to avoid macros.

  • If you think wiggling is useless, then please stop wiggling. Killers everywhere will thank you for it.

It's a killers game. Really u don't have to camp. Give us chance to play

You had a chance to play. It's not my fault you're worse at the game than I am, nor is it my fault that all your buddies have come to the hook (one of the main reasons for which I guard the hook). You're gonna have to learn to live with the fact that you lost.

This can't be for real otherwise all game companys would be broke in no time.

Yeah, I call bullshit. Such a price would make publishers go bankrupt, because they don't get 40000 per patch; patches are essentially irrelevant in terms of sales. Probably just another publisher whining about how game development is super expensive, even though game-related profits have constantly increased.

    1) It did cost this much at the time the article was written. It was a huge point of contention between MS and indie devs for a long time until MS somewhat recently dropped to patch fee completely.
    2) Do you have ANY idea how much it costs to make a game nowadays? Here is a chart from a decade ago...
(Here's the link, IDK why the picture is so small https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/vgsales/images/c/c6/Factor_5_dev_costs.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20080705213346)

$20 million baseline to make a successful game in 2006. You know what it would cost today? $500 MILLION. Yep. That's the MINIMUM you need to make super high profile games like CoD or Battlefield. MINIMUM. And those games have way bigger budgets than $500 million. "But BVHR isn't EA/Activision, they are a small team with a small game." True, but that doesn't mean it's cheap for them to develop DBD. Chances are the game has costed them 10's of millions by this point, but since they make millions more over that budget (ie. profit) they can afford to continue to develop content for the game (which costs more money BTW). Trust, if the game wasn't making a profit we wouldn't be getting any more content right now.

Source for the graph? Is it adjusted for inflation?

  • The fact that biased Survivor mains think she's good means she's severely underpowered.

  • Thank you, OP, for proving the Spirit needs buffs. Nothing like a biased Survivor main saying a Killer is fine for the devs to realize that the Killer needs buffs.

  • The mods have access to chat logs. You simply need to report them in the score screen for harassment.

    Stalling is not outplaying.

I've seen this stated a few times recently, and it's a pretty confusing statement. Can you please elaborate on this?

Basically its when i know you are running in the same exact places that millions have ran(and i know your routing too by the way) but my character (a non nurse killer basically can't counter it unless they [BAD WORD] up ) just to stall me without any attempt to lose or outplay me . Its very frustrating. Especially when people say that that is outplaying the killer(its not).

No, I know what looping is. I want you to explain to me how stalling the killer and getting them away from the other survivors that are doing gens is not outplaying the killer.

Because it is outplaying the killer. You're not seeing the forest for the trees. If a killer gets "stalled" while multiple gens are completed, then the killer got outplayed. It's like playing chess and only watching the moves of one pawn. There's a larger strategy there (that doesn't even need to be communicated, so don't bring SWF into this) that the killer is missing.

So the Killer lets the opponent he should crush 1v1 live, goes to chase another one, boom, looped again. Goes for the third one, boom looped. Fourth one, looped. Oh, wait, all gens have been repaired because looping has no downsides.

Nope. Put pressure on the gens, making the game take longer, chip away at the survivors and force them to make mistakes instead of waiting for them to, and take advantage of those mistakes in order to get the sacrifice. Like I said, it's like chess. I see a lot of talk about mindgames, but it never extends past a pallet or jungle gym.

Don't let the survivors control the pace of the match, take control of the match and force them to make poor decisions. Every time you try to "crush" the survivor by chasing them down through multiple pallets, you're playing into their game.

At the end of the day, you are getting outplayed simply by chasing any one survivor for too long.

Now another question: does it strike you as balanced that the Killer has to consistently lose chases (which are 1v1, where the power role in an asymmetrical game is supposed to crush the opponent) to win the game?

Maybe it's more that your fundamental concept of "my power role is based on crushing opponents" is flawed.

Maybe, just maybe, the idea that "the job of the killer is to kill" is false. Look at it from a different angle. The job of the player is to win. So, if we instead look at it that way, the killer is supposed to, before anything, mitigate gen progression, in order to increase match time and pressure on the survivors, which brings the end result of capitalizing on this combination of time and pressure in order to get sacrifices.

Here's the problem, so long as you let the survivors dictate the rules of the match, you don't have the power role. This isn't something the devs can fix, or the survivors. Only you can fix it. The killer in most matches is submissive, chasing instead of forcing.

Learn what an actual power role is, and become it.

Are you saying that in an asymmetrical role, the power role isn't supposed to be able to defeat the number role 1v1, regardless of what the number role does?

No, I'm saying that your definition of power role is flawed. You can easily defeat any survivor in a 1v1, mechanically. You can down them, hook them, and sacrifice them. None of these things can be done to you by the survivor. But, if you, as a player, cannot beat the survivor because you can't take your blinders off and be the actual power role on the entire map, then you are submitting yourself to the survivor and handing them the power role.

A power role isn't mechanics, it's psychology and strategy.

I hope you're never in any position to affect the development of an asymmetrical game.

Yes, it used to be considered an exploit of the different hitboxes between the Killer and the Survivor. Maybe if you'd played the game longer than 3 months you'd know that.

Bigger role in that case is playing perspective between survivors&killers, not a hitbox. I need to tell i hear about that first time since 20 August 2016. I would be grateful if you could write who said that can be exploit? Survivors? Devs? Or just a few killers who was pissed off about that in moment when it was discovered.

I think it can be chalked up to the Survivors having heightened senses in the Realm.

The heartbeat for instance, is not the Survivor heartbeat but rather the Killer's heartbeat that the Survivors have fine turned their hearing for. Benedict Baker explains this in his journal.

By extension, you could assume the Survivors are capable of know their entire surroundings due to increased survival instincts.

But why does the killers heartbeat need to sound like he is about to get caught doing something he shouldn't? It sounds like the heartbeat is the survivors hearing their own heart instead of the killers.

Couldnt answer that for ya buddy. I would chalk that up to gameplay mechanic, but I suppose maybe the survivor is just "hearing more beats." I'm just telling you what the canon says haha

If you watch some of the earlier videos on the DbD YouTube channel, they e plicitly state that the heartbeat is the survivors. I’m guessing that since the survivors have all these aura reading abilities that the entity has granted them some level of psychic ability that they all share with each other and the killers at different levels.

The heartbeat rising could be them just KNOWING the killer is getting closer and that thought is causing their heart to beat really fast

The Terror Radius emanates from the Killers.

We got plenty of those already, what we need is a viable high rank killer in order to break the ever lasting billy/nurse circle.

But then, devs said during devstream taht "not every killer is supposed to be viable at high rank".
Welp, killer is trash as intended I guess.....

This is purely speculative, but this is what I think the devs are trying to do:
If you want to play to have fun (i.e.: casually), then you pick a mid-tier Killer and play them at mid ranks. If you want to rank up, then you pick a high-tier Killer and play them at high ranks. In other words, they're trying to make it so you have both casual play and hardcore play in the same game. The problem is this has never worked, because high-rank players will play on smurf accounts or find ways to derank to punch newbies in the dick.

I get accused of camping or "tunneling" (AKA "chasing") almost every trial I play. One in particular had MYC trigger no less than 5 times, and another one had all three Survivors visibly near the hook.

Do you mainly play Killer or Survivor? And do you think one side is particularly more toxic than the other?

I play both, and Survivors are definitely more toxic.

  • ...But not on this PTB. The devs said so multiple times.

Rancor though... I wonder if same killers who said ds/hatch rewards failure will disagree when i say rancor rewards failure for giving a free kill after gens are done xD

Killers have enough perks for late-game builds. Survivors do not. I don't think the two are comparable.

We have to consider that end game builds are more viable for killers than survivors due to the asymmetry of the game.

Killers will almost always have an end-game unless they win by a landslide. Survivors only have end-game when they're winning, at which point they hardly need them. Endgame perks also have to be ridiculously good, and they risk being oppressive in the hands of tryhard SWF (ex: Adrenaline).

Exactly. So the two are not comparable.

Obviously both sides are prone to error. I'm just saying, in my experience, Killers seem better able to discern whether something is good or bad from its description alone, relative to Survivors.

I think this is largely because of how survivors are conditioned. One could argue that they have the 3 most powerful perks in the game, especially when used in conjunction, and all other perks are compared to those. Which is not a fair comparison. Where as killers, by and large, are used to being handed mediocre powers and perks so when they compare them they are on a bit more even keel.

I have a different idea, but I'd rather not be banned.

@orion is currently playing the PTB and could probably give accurate numbers.

Already stopped. I asked several people from my stream and from the forum to come play KYF with me, but nobody answered. Waiting 20 minutes to get into a trial that lasts 5 is not my idea of fun.

    That sucks.

And I'm guessing you don't want to play KYF either?

Sorry, too many threads were people were discussing things calmly and expressing concerns and then suddenly a wild survivor main crying "STOP BITCHING! GAWD!" People are allowed to engage in debate..unless you're a killer main. I forgot. Then no matter what you're doing you're whining or crying. That's what's ridiculous. I've seen several well thought out posts just shutdown or invaded by survivors who add nothing to the conversation but name calling and insults. Were some people just whining? Sure but not everyone was but they were still attacked by survivor mains and just outright DISMISSED by devs.

Sorry but to me that's what's ridiculous.

1 hr in: "KILLER IS OP"
Killer mains: Stop with the kneejerk reactions!

1 hr in: "KILLER IS UNDERPOWERED"
Killer mains: We are expressing intelligent opinions!

I will say, in their defense, that they're usually better at determining whether or not something is going to be OP than Survivors are. Remember the Nightmare nerf?

I remember "killer mains" complaing about No Mither (No Mither ffs!) when it was leaked, so they're kinda even.

I remember Survivors complaining about Thanatophobia and Ruin. It happened just last week. I also remember I wrote "usually". Killer mains are still human, and therefore prone to error.

I said they're even in fact. We are all people, maining one side doesn't make anyone more or less whiny then the others.

Obviously both sides are prone to error. I'm just saying, in my experience, Killers seem better able to discern whether something is good or bad from its description alone, relative to Survivors.
