Oh right, I know what you're thinking.... "but there are perks that can help against hook camping!" ... You mean the very same meta perks survivors are forced to bring in order to have a decent chance at not playing sacrificial survivor for the entirety of a match?
You can literally say the same about the killer gameplay.
At higher levels of play you are also forced to run some form of gen slowdown in order to stand a chance.
This game revolves about bringing the right perks
-
@Ivaldi said:
Lol.. feeling the entitled killer mains making every excuse in the book to justify it. You guys complain about meta perks when you literally force survivors to run them constantly. Calling it now; once this goes live within a month you'll all be begging for a Borrowed Time nerf.
Dude,one survivor ending up in the basement is alright but 2 is a HUGE mistake on your teams parts.
It feels as dumb as saying the killer shouldn't lose a game even if he decides to tunnel one survivor the whole game.
1 mistake can cost you the game,that's how DBD always has been

It happens more often than you think; even if you aren't near the basement a killer could have iron grasp/agitation to get you down there.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1920273#Comment_1920273
While this is true; depending on the hook timer of Survivor C you might not have time to run out and heal. And if the killer does down you again; they can simply just slug you and wait for the 4th survivor.
So what?
It's still your teams fault getting 2 of you down there.
-
@Ivaldi said:
Expect to see an increase in BT users because another downside that no one is realizing.. This essentially means that if a killer has 2 people hooked in the basement it's now a death trap for them.
Survivor A goes down into the basement for the save but gets hit before unhooking; Survivor A saves Survivor B but then gets downed. Survivor B attempts to unhook Survivor C and then gets downed. Now Survivor B doesn't have DS anymore.
Now you might say "Leave them and run out.. heal and come back".. But the cycle will just repeat itself if you even get a chance to come back; barring the death timer or if you can even make it out without being downed again.
I'm sorry but if the killer manages to get 2 survivors in the basement then that's on your teammates.
Mistakes should be punished.
Like,why should you just be able to rush the basement saves that easily?
-
Definetely,but i don't think so for console,due to the low turn rate and the lack of the flick
-
The only thing i hated avout this combo was unbreakable.
That perk killed way more games for me than DS,but i do appreciate the the DS change.

People should really stop falling for this guy baits. A quick look through his post history is enough to know it's a bait account.
This account was always baiting but people just don't seem to realize lol
-
@DwightFairfield said:
I honestly would've preferred it if the timer was shorter but paused if you were in a chase, you can run out the timer while being chased and then lose on the perk that's supposed to protect you from tunneling.
Overall, good changes
The killer could just moonwalk to prevent a chase and take advantage of a shorter timer

Yep, this was what I had in mind as well. I mean, I did not expect that they turn away from the new UI. IMO this would be the best decision, but I never expected that. But doing exactly nothing, aside from adding colorblind-options (which might have been more forced to come sooner than initially planned, but this is just speculation) is simply cheap.
I really hate how BHVR sometimes just brute forces their ideas no matter the feedback

poor mod just doing his job trying to reassure the players not his fault the devs did this.
I know,i would never blame him for that because it's simply not his fault.
It's just hilariously sad how quickly that backfired.Another great example for poor communication inside BHVR
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
Yeah, I agree.
especially because a good bunch of Threads was written with A LOT of Feedback regarding the UI in a constructive and respectful way. And honestly, bruteforcing the new UI into the game just drives away people who gave this constructive feedback.
Something like "New UI sucks!!111" will always be written, those people would not go way. But those who took their time to write explanations and even improvements will not do that anymore if their opinion is thrown into the garbage bin.
Well this clearly didn't age well now did it?

It was a Event where the devs decided to "fix" flashlights. This resulted in guaranteed flashlight saves. Survivors loved it and every match contained at least 1 flashlight. On top of that, event hooks could be sabotaged, which made the whole event a nightmare for killers.
Also guaranteed pallet save

-Optimize console
-Give me a new,fun and strong killer with a high skill ceiling again that is playable on console (looking at you blight)
-Make perks fun and interesting again.I'n tired of using the same perks over and over again

It's strange to me that Plunder's is just fine but Hoarder isn't supported by the code. I get that code can be uncooperative sometimes, but they should have been able to work that out.

Wait, the sound is this horrible for EVERYONE and they haven't done anything to fix it? Here I am thinking it is my deafness in one ear, but everyone is getting spammed with tribal drums drowning out any possible tracking/enjoyment of other sounds in the game.
Nope,they are just breaking the sound somehow even more with every patch and it just doesn't get adressed at all.Not the only thing that gets ignored by the devs...
opimization π
-
@Heartbound said:
I've played this game without sound a bit, and you just have to treat it like you're playing against stealth killers as survivor and use intuition as killer. I always do feel sound is overrated BUT I see no reason this game shouldn't have minecraft style subtitles. Those sounds are there to aid your experience, right? Right?
Sometimes I think I do better when I don't have the sound on because I can't be scared off of a gen by the terror radius and commit, since the killer is either chasing you or they aren't, but that's just me.
What?
Sound is like pretty much THE most important part in the game.
Like hearing the noises of stealth killer or the sound of grass from survivor crouching through it is incredibly important.
It's a shame that the sound in this game is extremely inconsistent
-
@TragicSolitude said:
They wanted to have decreased item rarity in chests, but it bugged out. They discovered that their current code just couldn't support it. Supposedly, the way Hoarder is now isn't the final version and it will get an upgrade of some sort, but I doubt the devs have any idea of what they can do or when it'll be ready.
Not gonna lie,it's hilariously sad that something like this can even happen.
Like,you didn't test that before advertising it ?

I experience this all the time with sloppy butcher. Its a big problem because you lose distance and whats worse it somehow change your camera in a direction you don't want to go.
I know,it's not like it isn't game breaking at all right but why should BHVR ever care for that,right? ;)
-
@danielmaster87 said:
I don't know if people are misnaming it as a freeze or if I'm just experiencing something different. It doesn't cause frame drops for me but it does feel weird, like survivors are able to Dead Hard at the very last second before they get hit when they really shouldn't be able to. Either they've got a macro or it just gives them the priority and rolls back my hit. Stupid perk concept anyway.
That happened to me aswell.I think it's just them being laggy tbh

They'd better not.
They promised optimization TWO years ago. Most people can't even afford a new Console right now, considering we are in a pandemic and a lot of people are struggling to even make rent, much less buy a shiny new $500 gaming system.
I am absolutely willing to make this my hill to die on and I will not stop reminding people until we get our promised 60 FPS.
They don't care lmao.
Get your optimization for 500$ 4head.It's that easy :^)
THEY CAN'T EVEN FIX THOSE STUPID FPS DROPS.
It's straight up pathetic and embarassing on their part and the main reason why i lost any respect for BHVR.

Same with Oni and Nurse.
Honestly,i don't have nearly as much problem playing Nurse and Oni as i have with Blight.
Playing Nurse and Oni with 100 sensitivity is totally fine and there are very few cases where more sensitivity would have been needed (Though it pretty much kills your thumbs playing with max sensitivity).
Blight however is insanely handicapped on console because even max sensitivity is really low here.Because of this flicking with him isn't possible and the turn rate is absolutely awful.It feels like i have to use turn addons just to get to addonless pc blight performance.
Very unfortunate because i really really like blight :(
-
@JPLongstreet said:

I asked this question in the 'General Discussions' category and it was swiftly moved to the 'Optimization' category, I guess to minimize exposure rather than move it to the correct section?
I love this game and I really want it to do well but communication between BHVR and the playerbase is really poor in my opinion. Also, it seems that communication internally is also lacking, look at how they handled colorblind settings.
How do you all feel about this? It would be good to hear your thoughts, let's try to keep it civil.
I mean,it was moved to the right category.
However,it may aswell be deleted because absolutely no dev or mod is in the optimization category.
Like,go there and filter for "Acknowledged" posts.Of all posts there you'll see exactly one post.
That already says how much they care about optimization :^)

I would love to have a notice here in the forum that tells everyone "Hey guys,there is no confirmed release date for the next update so please stop asking for the 1827717272th time,thanks"

To be fair, fixated is significantly stronger than urban evasion.
I think a neat build is going to be fixated, lucky break, and iron will. Especially with say blendette you could break LOS with the first hit you take and then fixated away leaving no blood, sound, or scratch marks to follow for some high risk high reward stealth gameplay.
"Significantly" is a very strong word for a perk that just let you see your scratchmarks and makes walking 20% faster compared to perks like Decisive Strike,Unbreakable,Borrowed Time,Dead Hard etc.

BHVR's game design sense is pretty embarassing to be honest. But I give them credit for creating a really fun genre.
They definetely created something very unique and i'm thankful for the experience i've had so far,but man do you get frustrated when you see how BHVR doesn't make this game as good as it deserves to be and instead just choose to do the bare minimum.

In this instance they are survivor sided because what Doctor at the lower ranks is using Huntress Lullaby. I can guarantee not enough for it to be even close to a problem. I didn't even think of putting Huntress Lullaby on Doc until like Rank 7.
I would say their main reason to change Hex Lullaby was for consistency sake.
Doctors madness skill checks were the only thing that was affected by Lullaby after generator and healing skill checks.

I do appreciate their recent work on buffing perks, such as the upcoming Fixated buff. I applaud the devs for working on it and hope we see more changes soon.
The buff for Fixated was honestly the most embarassing one.
They really needed 1,5 years to realize that it should also work when injured?
Even though that was the same problem with urban evasion?
Their changes are waaaaaay too slow and in most cases just pretty underwhelming in my opinion.

I still don't get what is the problem of things like Honing Stone and Deep Wound triggering a perk like Surge. Do the devs really think this would be gamebreaking or anything?
Of course.It's not like it already has other restrictions like a 40 second cooldown and 32m range π
It would obviously be the most broken thing ever after trapper with 2 traps basekit

Ps4 came out in 2013, u can't really expect mid range pc to run it super well on ultra from 2013 and ps4 is weaker than that...

U might have to get a new one then :/ how old is it? U could always try getting it to a specialist see if something can be done for cheap.
I played it a few times on ps4 lerry's once but there was no issues for me, no fps counter tho but didn't notice any freezes
It's a 6 year old base PS4,but that doesn't change the fact that DbD is the ONLY game on it that has serious performance issues even though the graphics and everything else doesn't even look that demanding
You'll see FPS drops for example when you get hit by Freddy/Sloppy Butcher,get the exposed notification,get bloodlust,someone is looting a chest etc.
