You honestly believe that a survivor being able to run the killer for the entire match, with nothing that the killer can do, is comparable to Spirit? You can argue she is too strong, but you can do some things to stop her. There is nothing you can do about an infinite.
It was a nerf though.
Fixing things refers to bugs

So you think the first year or two were balanced and thus the changes were unwarranted? Of course survivors had to be nerfed, it was pathetically sad how much power survivors had.
4 insta gens
literal infinites
pallet vacuums
darkness offerings that stacked
little to no gen defense options for killers
etc .. and the only things killers had were insta mori's
of course all that nonsense had to go, it shouldn't even be debatable

Yup, pretty much every game made today is balanced around top level play, but this just happens to be an exception...... I donβt buy it.
Yes,DbD is an exception.
It's a very unique game that isn't like those other games.
If you look at the tournament level you will see that those players play a completely different game.
If we would balance towards that then i'm sure this game will be dead.

This. A game that is going to be balanced around "the best", CS for example. Is literally built around it from the ground up. This was a small scale early access title by a team of 20 or less people that blew up.
Yep,if we would balance around tournament swfs and 5k hours nurses then this game would be dead forever.
You just can't compare DbD balancing to other real E-Sports (e.g LoL,Overwatch etc.)

Can you really, truly not understand what would happen if the game were balanced towards tournament teams only? Really? REALLY?
Yep,DbD isn't the right game for balancing towards high level players.Balancing around the more casual playerbase is the only option honestly.

OMG console Nurse is terrible. My nephew asked me to lvl up his Nurse on his xbox for NC. Landing blinks was god awful on console and this was before her rework.
It's actually quite manageable,though there are certain bugs like not being able to attack after blinking that can make playing her pretty annoying.

Honestly they just need to add a very small extra blood point multiplier per prestige on that character. Nothing super significant, just like an extra maybe 5% per prestige. So a full prestige 3 character might get like 15% more bloodpoints.
Or a 15% discount on everything in their bloodwebs

Your gonna hate the new one then haha.
I played on that map on the PTB with brutal strength and enduring; and just threw one match intentionally to a survivor who had windows of opportunity to see how long it took. They did all 5 gens and I only got through maybe a little over 50% of the pallets on the map.
Just pallet after pallet after pallet after pallet- and I wasn't breaking every pallet either, I was going around unsafe pallets he just ran to the next nearest one instead of looping it (as he should) and I WAS still trying to down him but it was just not possible.
Your gonna hate the new one then haha.
I know,i've already seen some footage of it.Guess i'm just gonna AFK if i get this map.
Watching paint dry would definetely be more engaging than playing on that design failure of a map π§

Current Game? I mean current game map is fairly killer sided. Most small indoor maps are. It has some garbage line of sight issues upstairs but that is about it.
Haddonfield is the strongest survivor map in the game if they know how to play it; average if they don't.
Bedham is not as ridiculous as Bedham, but it's close and anyone can run it because it's not hard to hold W and press space
It's only the new game I see problems for killer.
I just hate that i have to kick 99.99% of all pallets on this map without any counterplay whatsoever.
Yeah Haddonfield is awful but at least only experienced survivors can fully take advantage of that map,who seem to be rather rare.

Yeah but the new update turns it into lumberjack simulator. I think it has more pallets than any other map in the entire game by a fair bit.
Tbh,it was always lumberjack simulator and the new update just makes it lumberjack simulator but with nicer graphics.
It definetely is the worst map in the game even more annoying than Badham or Haddonfield tbh because you can pretty mindgame no pallets on this map considering how insanely safe they are (except maybe some loops for deathslinger and huntress i guess)

Oh I'd love that. I'd be very interested to see the stats.
Heck even just make it a PTB so it won't effect people who don't want to participate.
The only reason I lean towards more select perks at a time is then we can see more specifically each perks impact. When we throw out so many it makes the data a little less applicable in other words.
I'd also like a separate weekend where NOEDs turned off. This data would be very significant I expect.
Well,using a PTB just for that won't work.There wouldn't be enough players willing to try such an experiement.
Also,the ranks would probably differ a LOT,which would hurt the data even more.
-
@Blueberry said:
Meta change please, it's been yearssss.
As @Mikeasaurus mentioned, I'd be extremely curious to see a weekend with all second chance perks removed (aka the meta) and see how it effected the survival rates. I bet the difference in stats would be huge.
I would go further and say a weekend without any perks.
I think that could be fun and interesting

You hit a very important point.
Regarding infinites... something that is no longer here. Why? Because it was not balanced. They required specific perks to half way deal with them and while breakable doors are not what I would have chosen (a conversation for another day) they got adjusted. That is all survivors ask for when they have complaints against Camping and Tunneling.
Hmm,i would say that the answer to infinites is way easier and obvious than camping and tunneling though.
Like i said,i wouldn't be opposed of camping and tunneling changes but i just feel like it's extremely difficult to think of those changes and implement them in a way that they are fair for everyone.
I would rather have the devs continue focusing on easier balancing matters like perks,maps,addons or killers
-
@Withered8 said:
I've always been of the belief that camping and tunneling should be allowed BUT there should be some sort of tradeoff for it, something which makes you think as killer is this the right thing to do in this situation rather than just instinctively switching to camping/tunneling mode whenever you start loosing.
There already is something though.
Time.
The time you spend tunneling and camping one person leaves 3 other survivors to complete the objective without any pressure whatsoever.
If the killer isn't doing the right call when tunneling and camping is the most effective action then survivor should be able to heavily punish him for that.

I am not understanding what 12 hooks has to do with a survivor being in a cage being in the same position as that survivor who brought more casual perks. Meaning no BT, no DS.
DBD hasn't always worked this way. The devs themselves want there to be a threat, but a balanced threat. Camping to a certain extent isn't balanced, same as Tunneling.
The problem with DbD at higher levels of play is that it's generally quite fast paced.
Time is a limiting factor for the killer so camping and tunneling is needed to a certain degree in order to deal with that.
Completely removing camping and tunneling would therefore force the killer to hook everyone 3 times in order to win which just isn't possible in the current state of the game.
And DbD always worked in the way that you are forced to use specific perks to counter certain things.
Don't want to be tunneled?
Use DS
Don't want to deal with infinites (back then) ?
Use Bamboozle
etc.

@Jejune said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1920774#Comment_1920774
I didnt say give everybody DS and slow killers down. You would probably have to give killer something as a base and maybe increase amounts of gens. Alternatively add more things to do for surviors... Like idk blood fountains where you have to use them X amount of time per match for the entity to be satisifed and allow you to leave. (You can give blood by getting injured at the fountain or if you die on hook fountain collects certain amount of blood automatically)
I know but the thing is.You would have to think of something that wouldn't be too strong or too weak and then give the other side something that properly compensates it for those changes.
It would make DbD an absolute balancing mess.
I definetely wouldn't be opposed to camping or tunneling changes but i just think it's too complicated to make it work.
-
@Johnny_XMan said:

So what about survivors who simply don't want to bring those perks? Are they not in the same scenario as those who are caged?
I guess they get punished for trying to bring more casual perks, rather than addressing a blatant issue.
Well,kind of.
But this game isn't designed to be 12 hook every game.
It would require an insane amount of work to do so.
I guess they get punished for trying to bring more casual perks, rather than addressing a blatant issue.
That's how DbD always worked though.

Latency would mean at some time in the past the hitboxes were aligned or overlapping. I never was where he swung. That means it isn't latency. The killer was facing about 140 degrees away from me. There was a solid pallet between us. This means the hit traveled backwards, jumped over the pallet and hit me, it took an additional swing to break the pallet.
How am i supposed to tell what was happening if i didn't see a clip of it happening though?
All i see is you downed in front of a broken pallet + Leatherface
-
@Jejune said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1920736#Comment_1920736
Whats the alternative? Do nothing? I can live with camping because its almost impossible for counter right now. But tunneling should be fixed. The only way to make killers stop is to make it harder to go for same person.
Fixing tunneling isn't as easy as you would think it is and would require some buffs for the killer side in order to compensate for that.
At the end of the day dealing with camping and tunneling is matter of teamwork and personal skill.
-
@stvnhthr said:
Is there any way you can make the hitboxes human shaped? Or have the killer have to be at least facing towards the survivor? Also it might make sense to fix the air hits as well, for instance if you drop from the second floor out a window and you are almost to the ground when the killer swings and the killer hits the window ledge above you, I think the hit should not register, but what do I know.
Making hitboxes more accurate would be insanely difficult.
For example,using more accurate hitboxes would give female survivors a huge advantage over male survivors.
They are ok the way they are.The only problem which makes them look unfair at times is latency.
-
@Jejune said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1920416#Comment_1920416
Reverse bloodlust and temporary debuffs... Alternatively make DS base, make the timer 15 seconds but make it pause if killer chases you. Alternatively make BT base and make it work on every unhook.
Thats the only way to fix tunneling. If killer knows that everybody has DS or BT (or both) it might deter them from doing it.
If you wanted to implement all those changes you would also have to make some changes on the killer side to make these 12 hook games even possible.
It's too complicated to do that however so i would rather not want the devs to waste resources on that

Heard of Wrecker's yard ? The basement is in the middle of the map. The killer can get anyone there from a very big portion of the map. WIth the 2 basement perks probably from any spot on that map. With the same 2 basement perks a killer can bring a surivor to the basement from quite far on many maps where the basement can spawn in a building that is usually in the middle and there are MANY such maps.
Yeah,but keep in mind the killer invests 2 whole perk slots to take advantage of the basement.
If the killer plans on camping the basement then just focus on gens and don't play into their hands

They have attempted something before but gave up on it. So my guess is they know it needs to change. Or why would they bother even attempting it?
The thing is,how are they supposed to do that?
They tried some things because they know it can be frustrating to deal with but those thing were easily able to be abused so they had to scrap these ideas.
If the devs intend to change DbD to a 12 hook game then we would have to change a LOT of other things to make it happen.
As you see,it's waaay to complicated to even try changing it.
