So anybody that experiences eye strain from a UI all the way around the screen can't play
Call of Duty:

League of Legends:

I'm sorry for making such a long post with pictures but those are just examples from the many genres that use UIs like this. I would be hard pressed to find any modern game that doesn't have stuff in 2 different corners at least.
It sucks that people that experience eye strain can't play these games but at that point they literally can't play 95% of all video games because dbd is one of the only games that had everything in one spot. No games do this anymore and the reason why is because it's useful. It was popular at one point in like 1996 with the original DOOM games but not in 2021. If a game wants to be even somewhat competitive they need a UI like this. Nobody plays Call of Duty or any other shooter you can name and goes: "WAIT.. I have to look in the bottom right in my screen to see my ammo count and then look in the top left to see my mini map?? NOOOO". That just doesn't happen. This was a good change and i'm just waiting for people to calm down about it and get used to it. it's modern game design.
I played games like Monster Hunter World before, which also had a spread out UI similiar to DbD now but it still didn't gave me any eye strain at all.
DbD is the first game ever that did this

@gendoss said:
lmao nobody is getting eye strain from the new UI. Every modern game out there has a UI like this. People don't play Call of Duty or League of Legends darting their eyes around the screen and get eye strain. I don't understand why people hate the UI so much and at this point people are just making stuff up. Either the community just doesn't play any other modern video game or they're just trying to find things to get mad at.
Damn, must be a coincedence that i get eye strain after playing a few games with this HUD but never got any before :(

As someone who holds a degree in Communications and a diploma in Public Relations AND has worked in a PR firm it does not take THIS long to formulate a battleplan and issue a statement. Lol. Two hours tops assuming the statement needs to pass through various checks. Heck, five minutes to write, "To our loyal playerbase: We're really sorry about the launch of today's mid-chapter release. We've taken the time to read through the complaints and are busy working on a strategy to combat all the issues presented to us today. In the meantime, try to enjoy the game as best as you can. We will release another statement when we have more information to share. We've also sent players x bloodpoints/shards as an apology". BOOM. I wrote that in 10 seconds.
Pfft, look at the colorblindness fiasco and the state of optimization and you'll see that BHVR HATES to communicate with the community

Unfortunately, the saying, “out with the old and in with the new” rings true here. They can’t regress the game to serve an old generation. Like Bob Dylan said... “The Time’s They Are A Changin’.” The old movement isn’t the issue, the currency of your console is... sorry to say... time to save up.
I'm sorry but it's embarassing that you need a next gen console in order to get okay FPS on a 5 year old game.
I never had this much performance issues with any game so far
-
Does the team just not care about its players?
I feel like BHVR never really cared about the players but rather how much more money they could make
-
@Orionbash said:
The patch has been out for almost 12 hours. This is the absolute angriest I have ever seen the community collectively be upset at something since I've started playing the game. This isn't just a one-sided problem as per usual. This is everyone. People are upset about the UI, bugs, hitboxes and balance issues on the new maps and more. The queues are the longest I've ever seen them. Steam is showing a rapid drop in players.
Why has nobody issued a statement, a commitment to fixing the issues, or even an apology yet? Does the team just not care about its players?
They need to find a reaaaaaally good excuse why this update was allowed to get released after all the feedback they got from the PTB

Your note of my wordliness pleases me.
But yeah I thought I was gonna say more with this, and then it turned into general bashing. Whoops.
Point is, this situation is super weird and because of that i'm not mad at the devs, i'm just generally confused. It feels more like someone's got a gun to their head and forcing 'em to make these terrible changes than it does just airheadedness, and i'm wondering if somehow news is gonna come out about BHVR that's gonna make us feel real damn bad for the team actually programming these changes.
Yeah, you just can't convince me that it's the people in charge that are at fault for this.
Which is still so weird because this has to be the most easily preventable s***storm i've ever seen besides that whole colorblind fiasco
-
-
At this point i feel like the are using an ouija board to decide what to do 🤷♂️
-
The UI scale doesn't help.
My eyes still subconsciously focus on the information from the UI on every side and corner of my screen even though i try to focus on the middle

What was 1.9.2? I can't remember.
It was around the first lunar new year event where the devs thought that removing the correct timing needed for a flashlight and pallet save was a great idea
-
@Mikeasaurus said:

Yeah it really doesn't. I can show you a game that has a UI that takes up more than 50% of the screen if you like. People seriously need to stop being so dramatic. Yes, it's not a favoured update, but it's not as bad as people keep making it out to be.
If a HUD strains my eyes so much to the point that i even get headaches from it after playing just a few games then i would defintely say it's bad
-

Same, had to stop playing after a few matches becauses the strain on my eyes was too much to the point that i even started to get headaches.
I never had such problems with any games before
-
I'm more of a killer main and have about 6000 hours in this game and never had a problem whatsoever.
The new HUD however already caused me eyes strains and headaches after playing a few games. My problem is that my eyes also try to focus on the information of the HUD on the sides and corners even if i try to focus on the middle.

I’m really not enthusiastic about creating a new YT.
But....
I have still been dwelling on the idea of doing a tutorial video or not, which would mean creating a new YT.
Just unsure if I can muster the energy for that or not.
A tutorial would be amazing but even just clips showing the different uses of the new bottles would be very interesting.
I planned on testing that myself but the new HUD is giving me eye strains and headaches. It would be much appreciated because i really like playing clown
-
@TheClownIsKing said:
Turns out survivors really, REALLY dislike having an Invigorated Clown charging down on them while they’re intoxicated, judging by the immense amount of survivor DC’s after being downed I’ve had today. (Not a great barometer, but still this is what I’ve been personally experiencing in almost every match).
Other than feeling a little strange tapping the same button to reload to switch bottles, it feels IMMENSELY satisfying throwing an antidote at a freshly spotted survivor, and following that up with a tonic at the running survivor just as Clown is about to pass through the activated antidote. It pretty much results in a hit before survivors even reach a safe tile because of just how insanely quick Clown closes distance from using just 2 bottles.
And it also feels great sitting at a loop an identifying where a survivor would need to run to reach a vault or pallet, throwing down an Antidote first where I know I need to be going, throwing a tonic where the survivor needs to go, then I run through the now activated antidote to force the survivor into the direction of the tonic gas, and getting a guaranteed hit out of the set up. Every. Single. Time.
I cannot praise the addition of The Afterpiece Antidote enough.
Thank you devs for this Clown update, and the interesting add on pass.
Could you post some clips of it?
Would be interested in seeing some examples on how to use it
-
1.A lot of people, including me,already reported that the new UI causes eye strains and even headaches, that is not what a simple UI change should cause and people are rightfully frustrated with it
2.The map reworks are ok i guess except The Game, which is basically safe pallet city. The stale gameplay on that map didn't get fixed. It's still awful
3.Agree on that one
4.I agree that bashing the devs or any specific person isn't the way that's true. However this forum is needed so people can talk about the game, report bugs, give feedback etc.Forums aren't supposed to exist for PR,but rather for information and communication so i don't understand that point
5.So they shouldn't work with us to make this game better just because some people here act childish?
Bad mindset. It takes the company AND the community to make a game great.

I see what you mean now. I've don't really see PC Blight much on videos I watch, but the difference is actually insane. Biggest thing I noticed was his ability to turn the camera without turning blight himself, and the fact he has much faster camera turns. So I take back what I said. Blight really is bad on console compared to PC!
Thank you.
I played blight a LOT after his release because his power is extremely fun to use but i've lost any fun with him after seeing how extremely limited he is on console compared to PC.
It's such a shame :(

As someone who mains Blight on PS4, I respect your opinion and all but it's not THAT bad on console. Sure, I can imagine it's far easier to control on PC but a lot of us have grown up on console. We're used to jank controls at this point.
Thing is,you can control and turn a LOT more on PC which puts you as a console blight player at a huge disadvantage,it's not about janky controls
No killer in this game has that much of a disadvantage when playing on console
Just watch some clips from the streamer AscensionWho and you'll understand
https://youtu.be/rOuBdwck3QEFor example the lethal rush hit at around 1:55
-
You know,BHVR loves to exceed our expectations in the worst possible way
-
Learning blight on console isn't worth it at all.
The turn rate you can get on PC compared to console is huge.
You will never come close to PC blight performance.Just watch AscensionWho on Twitch and you'll understand

It's funny that console players most times are ignored or forgotten but now that the UI is so hated it's "oh, we gotta wait and hear what console says." Us consoles are only an excuse for devs to push out bad changes, not like we needed pc players to have even more complaints about console.
It's actually ridiculous,isn't it?
They almost NEVER cared about us console players, but now they are using us as a scapegoat to force such a horrible update?
Absoletely lost the very tiny respect i had left for them.

How would there
1. not be a system backup?
2. be a way to just move the icons through their elements?

1.Is Dead by Daylight

My confusion is that so many claim they’re getting eye strain having to dart their eyes around the screen so much with the new HUD, which sounds ridiculous because when playing Killer, darting your eyes frequently around the entire screen is something players should/would have already been doing before hand, especially out of a chase and trying to find a survivor.
We’ve never had a flood of “playing Killer causes eye strain”.

That might be true, but the thing is there is just too much spread out information on the screen.
Even if i try to ignore it and focus on the middle,my eyes still try to read the information on the sides and the corners subconciously.
That strains my eyes and even gives me headaches

Wow, people are just so simple. Like stop fighting, stop complaining, just shut your mouth and enjoy devs' poor decisions. What about no? lol
Maybe people would complain less if devs just showed us what they are planning to do before doing it? Like with OoO and DS changes? Before they put money into it and say sorry, what's done is done, we cannot change it back because we spent a lot of money, so just accept it. We paid for this game, you wouldn't complain if somebody sold you a spoiled product or something?
I'm gonna be very shocked if they paid more than 2$ and an old cheeseburger for this new UI

Let's not forget about those of us who have glasses to see (me) and the new UI makes it impossible to see how much of the hook someone's got left before dying or going into struggle. I literally have to squint to see, which is bad for me because I already bad eyesight not to mention the headaches it's been causing me this past hour
Yep,my eyesight is ok and even i have to take a closer look to see how much of that bar is left
-
I feel really sorry for you guys but expect to be ignored like the rest of us

Played a few games, honestly the UI doesn't seem unplayable to me, if anything I like being able to see what character the obsession is now.
The animation for survivors running whilst injured is hilariously bad though.
But would be interested to see what issues people are having. Everyone is complaining but with no specific issues.
My problem with the new HUD is that it's too spread out.
My eyes have to go everywhere to get the information i need.
This causes eye strains AND headaches for me.

I really hope it,because i simply can't play this game now without getting eye strains and headaches
-
Now you make yourself look rediculous.
A lot of people are disappointed how horribly BHVR handled the feedback.
They got a TON of negative feedback regarding the new animations and the HUD,but they just choosed to completely ignore it.
Extremely important issues get ignored and we get garbage like this update instead

If any of the big studios would actually try to make something similiar then DbD would be gone forever.
