Don't you think you went too far with the increase in map rotation of indoor maps ?

Are you me? This is what my map rotation looks like, and I've been picking up billy again, these maps are ruining my fun trying to pick him up again.

When I play any killer besides the ones that I want to play I get decent maps, when I want to play the killers that I like I get this ######### rotation.

  • Maybe you got it wrong, but escaping means skill in bhvr's eyes not in the players' eyes.

People know that escaping does not represent skill in any way possible.

Just yesterday I set some rules for me as survivor, basically a escape asap.

Killers were really good but hey in bhvr's eyes they suck since I escaped fast.

I went 7 matches in a streak of escaping on (assuming mid to high mmr) while it isn't that much it isn't a hard thing to do.

So no, if people think they are good because they escaped then they have no reason to talk in arguments or discussion.

There's only one way to shake up the meta of this game, and that's to finally look at the survivor perks that have been meta for literal years, some of which are from the first 4 survivors. I'm not gonna be able to cover all of the ones I want, because then this would be insanely long, but I'll try to focus on the main offenders. I'm gonna be talking about perks that the killer pretty much has to respect or else he could lose the game. Hear me out.

Adrenaline: It is trivially easy to complete all the gens as survivor. Without gen defence, the killer's losing all those gens in minutes. With gen defence, a few more minutes MAYBE. You are lucky these days to kill 1 or 2 survivors before the gens get done. If you instead tried to injure everyone so that you could maybe get a big slug comeback at the end, this perk ruins it. You can't let the gens get done or else they might have this perk to use, and yet the gens will certainly get done. If 1 survivor has Adrenaline, you might still be able to get another kill at that point. If 2 or more have it, it becomes a near impossibility that you get another kill. Whether they're on the ground, injured, healthy, or about to be unhooked, as long as the survivors are alive they're going to get value out of this perk. I realize it's 1-use, but still. It gives a health state and a sprint burst even when exhausted. Coupled with an easy prerequisite of doing 5 gens collectively, this perk just has too much going for it.

Decisive Strike: I know it's been nerfed already, and yet I see it everyday. Sometimes all 4 survivors are running it, sometimes none are. But the 5-second stun is far too punishing, and will lose the killer the game. For that reason, the killer must respect it every time. If they don't, they could get an early 2nd hook or a kill because the survivor by pure chance did not have it equipped, but mostly what happens is you "get rid of" their DS early and lose the game because of it. It's a high risk, high reward perk... for the killer. The survivors who have DS'd the killer will not show their face until the end when they're in the exit area and are invulnerable, unless the killer takes all 4's DS in which case they lose anyway. You can avoid all of this by just not tunneling, but you've got to understand: killers must tunnel sometimes to play catch-up. And in a game where the killer's on the back foot and playing catch-up from the very start, it's a necessity. And despite the nerf, survivors can still abuse it. They can jump in a locker, body block, flashlight save, or open an exit and still have it. It's effect is so powerful that you can still bluff to the killer that you have it, and they'll most likely respect it.

Dead Hard: Other exhaustion perks like Balanced and Sprint Burst are usually used to delay the real start of a chase, but Dead Hard extends the chase at the end when the killer most needs the down. No other perk gives i-frames, and that's an unnecessarily huge advantage obviously. Even when the killer's planning/pathing/aiming/tile knowledge was perfect, Dead Hard could still allow the survivor to escape unscathed. And when used for distance, there's nothing the killer can do. No waiting it out. And assuming the survivor has a good connection, or bad depending on how you see it, they can simply react to the killer's swing. The only prerequisite this perk has is being injured, which encourages survivors to be insanely efficient by pushing gens while injured, simply because this perk offers so much protection at the press of a button. If the killer doesn't respect it, he misses and the survivor gets to the next tile, and if he does respect it a good survivor will use it to the fullest anyway.

Unbreakable: This perk, like Adrenaline, stops the killer from slugging. Except it can be used at any point in the game. And even when a survivor "uses it up" to pick themselves up, they still get the 20% increased recovery speed, which is still a huge blow against sluggers. And just like with tunneling, sometimes killers must slug to generate enough pressure to have a chance of winning. If 1 survivor has it, that's manageable. But if multiple have it, any chance of a mass slug is gone. Slugging has to be done quickly, because once the survivors figure out that's what the killer's doing, they'll focus just on staying healed so that the killer can't slug them again. It's 1-use, yes, but that's all it takes for the killer to lose, plus they still get the recovery speed increase. It's got too much going for it.

A lot of these perks are 1-use, and they're practically uncounterable. The killer may be able to deal with each survivor having maybe one of these, but more often than not the survivors will have all of these equipped at the same time. Survivors will guilt trip killers about using strong perks, but they refuse to accept the strength of their own perks. The killer should not have this much to worry about from each individual survivor. They're the 1, and the survivors are the 4. Why then do the survivors have the tools to 1v1 the killer? Why have they barely been touched when it seems like every update, killers are being given a crumb of a buff or are straight-up nerfed? The killer role can't go on with these circumstances, or everybody including myself is just gonna throw in the towel.

I didn't read the post, but why is your name familiar? Are you a dark souls youtuber or something like that? I swear I have seen your name somewhere before.

  • I stopped playing killer because I'm tired of facing hackers, the first week after the mmr got enabled I faced 6 hackers.

A few days ago I played against other 3, not that they ruin the fun or anything /s

But usually if people don't see hackers think of this, your MMR might not be high or you are extremely lucky, one or the other, no between.

  • I would say that probably still spirit, then blight then hag on controller.

  • Survivor has to be bond and killer either bbq or whispers.

  • No please, if they find out that most of the community dislikes mmr either pig or billy will get nerfed.

Do you remember how much experience you received for that match? Experience is based on time so you should’ve gotten alot of it

I don't remember honestly, I was just happy that I was able to play again, I usually leave as fast as I get into the end game chat.

2 hours is a pretty generous time for developers who suspend killers when survivors refuse to do generators. Surely just waiting out the 2 hours would be fine because the game is technically progressing.

Yup, honestly I would be fine if the match automatically ended in 30 minutes not 2 hours.

I understand why there is a dc penalty but script kiddies punish killers and now a days there are a lot so there is nothing we can do if we don't want to be punished.

I even started dodging people with private profiles because of them.

Lmao, I'll be sure to make the time when I'm about to play a game.

I was playing botw on my switch for that time.

  • Boon totems useless with the nerf they said lmao, sure buddy, I am an attack helicopter that shoots doughnuts while spitting coke through my ears.

They are still far from useless.

  • @Sluzzy said:

First game as killer today and survivors instantly breaking totems and instantly healing themselves. This is every day now and getting worse at an exponential rate and absolutely nothing being done about it. Even as survivor I'm constantly paired with survivors holding the game hostage and putting on fireworks, instantly healing themselves, etc. Trolling the killer with their cheats.

I quit the game for now. Get your act together on this BHVR. At least remove your DC penalty until this is fixed because the game is in an unplayable state when 1 out of 4 matches has a cheater.

No way, Sluzzy this time you aren't being yourself, what happened??

    I maybe hallucinating.

But yeah and people wonder why we make fun of eac.

  • He was exaggerating, as someone who has been taken hostage vs a cheater, matches only last 2 hours max, the match ends.

And yes, I'm a very stubborn person, so yes, I didn't dc and stay in the match until the script kiddy left.

So yes, for anyone wondering how long you can stay in a match.

2 hours is the max, the server/match/ whatever you want to call it ends.

  • Yes, slinger on the PTB was extremely clunky and unfun.

So yes, I wasted my time on p3'ing him and getting all perks.

  • Like always GoodBoyKaru, thanks for the efforts on writing everything that happened on the QnA.

Cute cats btw, those 2 cats on the shoes are very heart warming.

Hopefully the devs either remove or change how sbmm works because currently as a solo survivor is one of the worst experiences I've had in this game as someone who has played this game for 3 years.

I'm also upset that the devs promised to keep up with players on past gen consoles but will not do anything to help them, aka performance issues and no M&K support so they limit the killers they can play.

  • I love that basically you can farm mmr if you facecamp with bubba and get heavily punished if you get facecamped or tunneled to death as survivor.

I'm an average survivor that has been getting tunneled very frequently so I guess I should be playing with new survivors because of that.

I hated the idea of sbmm before it was introduced and now I hate it even more.

  • The difference is not playing on 15 fps, also different movement that allows moonwalk and stuff.

For killer you have way more control compared to sticks and specially if we are talking about joycons.

    But that is about it.

And no there is no cross platform meaning you will have to restart all over again.

  • From my personal experience QnA are never worth the time watching.

Last year people had really good questions and they picked the worst ones out of the bunch.

There were some golden questions that they decided to skip and went into the "will we have rift cosmetics again" like bruh get some good questions not stuff like that

  • Here is a tip for people getting tilted.

Just leave the end game chat, no need to stay if you are mad.

Honestly since I started leaving endgame chat asap I've been having more fun

  • It is pretty damn good so yes.

New windows on rpd is such an amazing and godlike perk honestly.

I know RPD but not the vaults and stuff, I only know the RE rpd not dbd rpd.

If you play Cheryl Mason, don't you expect Pyramid Head to want to find follow and kill you before any one else? (unless you have not played Silent Hill. But then again, why would you be Cheryl Mason if you havent?)

I mean PH has never chased Heather so I don't understand that, the only people who chase Heather is that creep who owns the church and the detective, I forgot their name and claudia, been too long since I played silent hill 3.

Ph only appears in 2, downpour (I think) and homecoming, which only 1 from those 3 games is from team silent.

Just remember that if you are telling people that cheryl gets chased by ph then you are the one lying to them, she in fact has never been chased by ph only James

  • Sorry to hear that duder, remember that people will always find someone to blame, no one likes blaming themselves.

To the stretch res topic, if you use it and don't mind others using it then I give you props, take this advice I will tell you to heart ok? If someone complains about you, then you are doing something good in the game, the more insults and such you get the better you are at the game.

Depends which console, older gen it depends on the Killer, current gen plays just fine... thankfully. Play on Series X, never had an issue.

Yeah but what I tried to say is that controller players can do the unintended 180 with oni, sorry if I wasn't able to say that lol for some reason my brain was like "me brrrrrrr unga bunga".

Yeah I heard that new gen consoles don't have many issues, I tried it on ps5 just 1 match and felt the same as on pc except with my extra 60 fps

  • @MrCalac123 said:

A console Killer can do everything a PC Killer can, it's just harder, besides things like Oni's 180 exploit which is not intended.

I'm unsure about oni not being able to do the 180 turn, I plugged in my controller on pc and was able to do it.

What I meant of unsure I mean like if console players themselves can't do it because of lack of frames or such.

  • @Mwasi said:

As a PS4 player I only have console experience. But I would like to know, from those with experience on both platforms, are some Killers more difficult to learn or play on consoles than PC? If so, what are the difference that increase the difficulty?

So I was also a ps4 player when I transfered to pc, the only killer that actually got harder to play was oni, note: I got used really fast to the change but it was harder to play.

Killers like nurse, huntress, trickster etc are easier to play on pc.

  • A few weeks ago I was called racist for killing a yui, I never understood why that was racist.

Oh, that's good. I hope that part doesn't get changed.

Personally, I think before going live the boon totems just need a few changes (no stacking, no moving a boon totem, and a cooldown on placing a new one after the killer snuffs it) and otherwise I'd like to see how they play out for a while. If they get nerfed heavily no one will ever use them and we'll never even be able to tell if they would've been useful.

You do not need to use them to tell that they are useful as they are right now, they are really strong.

Boons should work the same way as Hexes, if they get broken they get 1 less perk, right now I found them to be even worse than breaking walls and very time consuming if you are not using a high mobility killer.

But yeah your ideas are great and it is probably what will happen.

This PTB was my last chance to continue playing killer, if it goes live as is I will just change to survivor only.

  • Congratulations on getting a ps5 for starters.

Secondly, I hope you enjoy playing it on ps5, when I tested dbd on mine it felt amazing.

As someone who went from ps4 with about 1900 hours on it to pc, I will always support old gen consoles because the game was good to play but now it most likely sucks so bad for past gen consoles.

2019 optimization never became a thing and never will sadly.

  • Tell me you haven't played the PTB without telling me you haven't played the PTB?

  • It might be really easy to cheat in this game, I'm unsure about how difficult it is but I am guessing that it is easier than cheating in gta at this point.

Poor phrasing on my part, it has only caused problems for me temporarily, and while I dislike it, I have adjusted to it.

As for overheat, I do like to consider myself a really good Billy, although maybe I M1 a tad bit too much. But it wins me games consistently so that's what matters to me I suppose.

That is the thing, most of us who played billy to a creepy extent had to re adjust, overheat limited creativity and limited skill ceiling.

The POV change also made it more annoying to curve which is the thing all of us loved to do, while it is possible you crash into nothing.

Try not using M1 in any way possible and you will see what I mean (other than bodyblocks ofc)

  • @NoOneKnowsNova said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2524110#Comment_2524110

The only thing that affected me was changing his POV (which even then was temporary), and a few of the hitboxes that are stupid (like tiny branches that clearly shouldnt have a hitbox the size of a Huntress hatchet).

Otherwise, I rarely use add ons unless it's on a killer I'm uncomfortable with or I'm doing challenges, and I very rarely crash into things. Additionally, overheat very seldom comes into play for me, and I usually only get it when I'm intentionally trying to get it, although I do think that engravings should effect it in a certain way to the point that by the time you charge the chainsaw it's still equivalent to a quarter.

Temporary..... Are you sure about that? Or are you joking? Because the POV change is not temporary, since the nerf it has been the same, bhvr hasn't fixed it.

If overheat does not affect you, you must be a god like billy because I use double engravings and 1 miss almost puts me in overheat, 2 saws without addons, or you backrev only.

  • @NoOneKnowsNova said:

Been confirmed that his nerf is not that bad, and imo Billy's wasnt too bad from his rework (other than add ons).

So not as bad as changing POV, nerfing addons, bad mechanic, crashing against anything that is not on screen, also like nurse who still has massive bugs after the nerf and the twins who has a 5 second cooldown every time they use victor.

  • @botrax said:

Haven't played in several months, not since before the Blight came out but for a few games when Nemesis released. So my MMR should be at "brand new player" levels due to having no data to go off of. Played for 5-6 hours straight yesterday and in my first hour or 2 of gameplay it is VERY obvious that the new player experience is very much for either new players or those that are just bad.

Met a lot of cross play people, so I couldn't check their stats. But starting out it was obvious, beyond obvious, that the vast majority of people belonged in the low MMR brackets. Talking people that never look around, never watch the Killer in a chase, try to "hide" after being seen, getting stuck on every wall or rock, all the very clear signs of a brand new player or someone that just does not have any real skill. It was only after a few hours that I noticed Survivor skill going up. Survivor skill is getting better, but as an old Killer main it isn't too hard to tell the difference between someone attempting to be skilled and someone that is skilled. It still feels low to mid ranks.

Don't know why our new player experience gameplay is so different. But from my point of view MMR is working. Not perfect, not even close. But it is working as with me not having any MMR data I was matched with others that seemed to have no or low MMR data as well. Then as I gained MMR data by "winning" so many games Iv noticed over those hours being matched with others of ever growing skill.

Could be because of our servers? I play on central so that could be the thing.

I didn't notice any increase in skill for a while and yes I was winning most of my matches because for some reason even new survivors know that if you hold m1 on a gen all separately meanwhile others get chased then most likely they will win.

Weird thing is that I also saw a few prestige players that played like new players, I'm assuming they dropped the game for a while.

  • @Clowning said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2522585#Comment_2522585

For sure. Though I feel like then the system will run into the issue that there just isn't enough players to match the new guys with. Most of us are willing to wait for 5 minutes, because we know "it's that time of the day so role X has faster queue times", but new players might not be so willing. It's really good that you've tested this, I was wondering if it'd really be this bad. I can only imagine this is atrocious for the general retention of newer players.

Yeah, new players should not play this game until it is properly fixed and such.

The fact that my 4th game as survivor I went against someone with almost 1k hour is not something new people should play against.

I understand that I was smurfing and that I shouldn't compare myself to the new players but if it is true that you need to lose about 10 games to play against people that aren't as skilled yet then most likely the game sucks for new people.

Hopefully they get what they deserve not what they have.

Oh, I also had some new teammates that had no idea what they were doing.

Must be fun to play against a ruin undying killer as a new survivor /s.

  • @Clowning said:

It's because new accounts start at an average, base value of MMR, I imagine. Which is really funny, because I doubt people will have the best impression of the game when they have to lose several games in a row without fully understanding why.

Yup, hence making new players experience worse than it was before the mmr was a thing.

At least before they were matched kinda evenly rank-wise.

I don't believe it should start at a certain mmr, it should start lower than that kinda like apex at least no?

  • @Yords said:

It sucks, but the best thing to do is just leave and ignore them. Better yet... waste their time. It is both the morally superior option, and not bannable.

It is very simple, but if you want to get back at the cheaters, you gotta take every chance you can. All you have to do is either nothing, or just meme around (in the endgame chat I mean).

What they all do is trash talk everyone at the end, always. This means that you are guaranteed to have their attention. If you want to waste their time, then you have to just be silly and meme around. Here are a few example of what I mean.

    Comment: "commit suicide n-word"

Reply: "But I love you ;("

Comment: "you guys are so bad at this game"

Reply: "teach me oh wise one uwu"

    Comment: "ez"

Reply: "gg" (or just leave and say nothing)"

Anyway, you get what I mean. Just be silly and meme around a little, your comments don't even have to make sense. Just keep them there. So while the cheater is talking to you guys trying to upset you, you end up keeping them there for a few extra minutes as well. This means that you can prevent them from ruining other people's fun as well, for a few extra minutes at least.

If you let them know that they upset you, they win. Don't give cheaters that satisfaction. Upset them by not getting upset, very simple and easy.

You realize that a script kiddy like these current cheaters can take the game hostage for 2 hours? And the dc penalty will increase if you just dc.

I ran into 3 cheaters back to back so I did get the dc penalty 3 times in a row.

So it is either get penalized because someone is cheating or be punished for staying in that match for 2 hours.

  • In case someone else got curious, so my matches went about the same as in my main account.

From my 3.1k hours to the 2 hour account.

    Same perks for both sides.

Nothing different besides me not having perks unlocked.

  • @ThiccBudhha said:

The perk system and copious amounts of paid dlc make smurfing not particularly viable, imo.

I got everyone except laurie and ash so I think that is not really that bad.

  • Blame mmr not the killers.

It is not fun to have matches lasting 5 min

  • If you only get 1k while camping you are seriously having issues with either bubba or trapper.

Usually bubba guarantees at least a 2k or 3k.

Trapper if you are camping basement and you use noed most of the time it is 2k.
