Can the survivors also see the ghostface like that in the lobby?

I've had a match start when there were only 3 survivors in the lobby, and thought we were gonna get a 2 killer situation, but it ended up being a random kate.

Yes, you can see the extra killer in the lobby, in this example they can see the ghostface but not me.

I've seen it in the survivor POV, you only see the killer and not the name, unsure if console survivors can see them.

  • @GoshJosh said:

As serious as the problem is, I can’t help but laugh.

Oh no worries, I was laughing when I saw that player called killer main then randomly switching to ghostface in the lobby.

  • @KerJuice said:

Wow. Does he become a second killer?

Yeah, they become the second killer but will not let you leave or do stuff, you share perks as well like if I have shadowborn as an example, they will have it, if they have thrilling I will have it.

  • @NAERUUU said:

Those perks increase sur healing speed except tools and their addons

    botany knowledge

    boon : circle of healing

we’re gonna live forever ( in the dying state )

    desesparate measure

resilience and spine chill ( low )

    We’ll make it

    Leader

    ooo

Dying light ( killer perk )

    Selfcare

I’m not an killer main so give me idea and arguments

The short answer yes, green medkits with speedy addons are really strong especially if paired up with a build dedicated to healing, now I've been using a build kinda like that for myself (Botany, desperate, resilience and CoH) usually by the time I drop a pallet (if I'm injured) I'm done healing myself making the killer hit me an extra time which is not fun at all for them, currently the healing meta reminds me a lot of old MoM but probably stronger.

  • @RainehDaze said:

Seriously, do they do anything except tell one side "you're going to have a bad time"? Being able to weight the game in favour of your planned strategy before the game even starts is just imbalanced.

And it's even more Bloodweb junk for all the other maps you don't want.

No, either killer should get map priority or offerings shouldn't exist, and this isn't a "killer main" mindset this is just a thing to help on balance, we have 35+ maps but some survivors only send themselves to badham, haddonfence, the game, very skillful maps.

  • @Biohazard said:

the last 3 matches I got at least one who was in some situations way to fast. I think the developer should at least considering doing something against it :D

Nah duder, but you can buy cosmetics if you want - someone at bhvr probably.

  • @Shaped said:

    Are they?

Chases yes, pre drop kick simulator no, real skillful chases like the ones we had before sure they were really fun to be outplayed and outplaying.

Must be an exploit if their aim assist can't help them in their flicks :^).

No but seriously I played Apex legends and Overwatch competitively(not pro just took it way too seriously) on console and they're usually foreign on stuff you can learn with a lot of practice. They just blame their platform's limitation. There's even moonwalk tutorials on controllers lmao.

Console does not get aim assist in this game, in fact the "aim dressing" screws them more than us on m&k.

But yeah people usually just blame the lack of practice on "this is impossible on console"

Yeah, but again they just blame their platform instead of practicing, I was playing with a meg like 2 weeks ago that moonwalked more than me and also was on PS.

I understand that and I do consider swf when thinking about perk buffs but I don't swf would be too effect by it. If your in a swf all the others will already know who the killer is already what does it matter of they know sooner

That is actually a fair point, I only think that perks like that should have a draw back like OoO, how can I explain what I mean....... Like dark sense is kinda decent already and having it do the same thing as OoO without the negative part would be too much imo, might be wrong in my part but that is what it is on my mind rn.

    Dear all,

I have started with dbd a month ago, managed to get with other killers to red 1, but now i have an urge to learn a blight due to his complexity.

I have watched many tutorials on yt (especially liliths), but I am struggling a bit with slides and hug tech.

My issue is that whenever i start to slide, i always get slammed…

I try to look down and start sliding under a bit of an angle, but then i either get slammed into the wall or I start to drift away.

Same thing happens with a car/van or in loops.

I unfortunately cannot practice in private lobbies since non of my friend is playing dbd; So public is my testing ground.

I also do not over abuse the power as it can be predictable, but in loops i feel more or less as ordinary m1 killer.

Im playing it on ps5 with 100% sensitivity, also there is a liliths review of console blight, so “pc flicks” are possible here aswell.

    Kind Regards

This is going to sound like something you don't expect but just practice.

You can't just pick up a killer and do high skill stuff right away, keep on practicing and soon you will get it.

Ignore people that say that hug tech is an exploit as it isn't, you are just using the poor collision to your benefit that is why it is called a tech.

  • @my_name_jeff_69 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2639962#Comment_2639962

You can flick on console, base game mechanics allow you to do so, and you can hug tech, like I said however, it's unreasonably hard since you're on controller, its next to impossible but since you can do it by the base game mechanics, it's not an exploits. I also haven't changed my dpi to do a z flick or a s flick lol, higher dpi helps, but it's not needed to preform these.

Is moon walking as survivor a exploit since console survivors can't do it?

Survivors can moonwalk on controller, they can also do the ayrun moonwalk, seen it a couple of times.

  • @Sweet_Tour said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2639959#Comment_2639959

You obviously have never played console if you think we can flick. Our DPI isn't high enough to swing around we do an Arc not a U-turn. We can't do these fancy smancy moves y'all do. You have to raise your DPI to do these things and since you would have to use third party software on your mouse to do that. IT IS AN EXPLOIT. Am I saying it should be fixed? No, doesn't change what it is.

Disagree, I don't use a third party program to raise my DPI, in fact I used to only play in a very high dpi which is different but I have played blight on a controller, you can do most things on it and I have played against cracked console blights, how do I know? Because once I did searched their name through playstation and they had an account there with dbd.

But I guess for this community having high dpi = exploit, that is not an exploit, exploit is how breakdown took hooks from the killer or the old vigil exploit that got people banned also the wake up exploit and stuff.

  • @GannTM said:

I would like a forfeit option after 10 minutes.

^ this, I would like this, forfeit would force the end game screen and that is it, this would probably make it better when it comes to cheaters as well, it would also help for people that complain about teabagging at exit gates and such.

I'm honestly surprised they haven't come up with that.

  • @dspaceman20 said:

Along with the current effect it had a survivor version of Lethal Pursuer as it showed the killers aura at the start of the match for a few seconds like 5 or 8 seconds?

I think this buff would make it better. What do you think?

It would make it better yes but always think of perks when it comes to swf, I know this isn't a swf topic but remember that OoO has a drawback which is the killer knowing meanwhile this change would only benefit.

Personally on a good day i don't really care what they do as long as 3 gens don't pop in like first chase. Now on a bad day i might roll my eyes and just try to play normally. But if they force ds onto me i won't say if were down to the last 2 gens and im given the opportunity to tunnel the annoyance let them go. What can i say i aint perfect lol. Hbu?

Not really, I only get tilted when survivors think that playing that role is hard and they are screaming at you for saying that it is not hard play.

I have really good hearing so if I get flashed at all pallet I can still follow them by ear.

If they force body block with BT, I will just wait the time and tunnel them out, I mean that is what they wanted.

Macro spam is slightly annoying but not enough to get a reaction out of me.

Boons are only used to give survivors and edge survivors have to worry about doing 5 gens, looping, unhooking, healing looking for hexes, doing 5 totems for noed, thinking about killers perk, and also having a good perk load out

1 second for a killer is 4 for survivors, no one loops these days, you don't have to think of the killer perks when the game usually tells you aka ruin, undying, haunted etc, having a good perk loadout? You need good perks to win as survivor?

Killers have to worry about 7 gens, hooking, breaking pallets/walls, play against exhaustion perks, a mistake for a killer costs more than a mistake from a survivor, killer perks also usually either get destroyed or ran out of time, we have to go out of our way to destroy the boons, I'm also not including but killers also have to respect the survivor rulebook, as if survivors do 5 totems these days lol.

  • @fixdeadhard said:

thats what happens when so much killers have strong anti loop powers, its safer to just hold w since vaulting a pallet or window is just giving a free hit to the killer

survivors are forced more and more into this playstyle,

And killers are forced to play certain ways because of that same playstyle, and no I'm not blaming survivors for playing like that, I blame bhvr for making really oppressive killers that the best way to play against them is holding w.

But I also disagree, even if the killer isn't an oppressive killer people still play like that, in my experience it doesn't matter who, I only see predroppers and hold W players.

  • Hold W predrop pallets and hope your teammates are doing gens.

  • Harder to go or more annoying?

Because harder has to be a good blight and a good nurse, annoying probably trickster, slinger, ph, basically any killer that forces you to play a different way

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

Allow me to preface this by saying I am not a cybersecurity expert, nor do I pretend to be. This is based off of my own knowledge around the subject, and if I get something wrong please correct me as this is about player safety.

This is in no way a comprehensive guide, but basic tips you can (usually) easily follow to help protect yourself online.

    intro

So, for people who don't know, DBD currently has a security flaw allowing people to track the IP addresses of people they match with, and with that IP address are able to track down personal information (doxxing) or DDOS attack (Distributed Denial of Service attack- where lots of packets of data are sent to the router all at once, causing it to overload and in some cases fry completely) you. This flaw was discovered on the PTB, however can be exploited on live servers too.

Don't believe me? Streamers, especially large streamers, have been getting DDOS attacks incredibly frequently, from Paulie to Otz, and streamer Elix has been swatted live on her stream. DDOS attacks cause your router to slow down drastically, and often kick all devices off of the router.

While waiting for an official statement on this, hopefully along with some upgraded security, here's some things you can do to help prevent this happening, and what to do in case it does happen.

EDIT: We have an official statement from BHVR, as confirmed by @MandyTalk:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/7H7EW0M3A7VJ/image.png

    Source

    what to do

So, on a PC there's one main thing you can do.

    Invest in a VPN

VPN, standing for Virtual Private Network, creates a midpoint between you and the DBD server. Your data is encrypted between your router and the VPN (in most cases), so if it's intercepted then it won't be readable (some of this data including, you guessed it, your IP address). A lot of VPNs can cost money- obviously, if you're only getting it to play DBD, attempt a free trial or get a free one. Don't spend lots of money for a product you're using only to safely play one game.

There are free VPNs, just for the record, which will do the job of changing IP address and preventing DDOS attacks even if they won't provide the snazzy features of other VPNs.

VPNs do not make you completely immune to DDOS attacks, however the VPN will take the majority of the attack, allowing you to potentially stay online even if it is slower.

    Change steam networking settings

It is worth noting that the following has no impact on DBD specficially, however could help in other games which do utilise this feature. Thank you to commenter @Austin for mentioning this, as I was relaying information I'd gotten from Twitter. VPNs are your best bet for preventing a DDOS attack from occuring in the first place.

To change these settings, naviate to "Settings" in your Steam client:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/A093SI0XZ7JT/image.png

    Head to the "In-Game" option:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/D688WVBF30P6/image.png

And change this option to "Never":

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/RNU8F73PRDYB/image.png

I don't know any preventative measures on console, however I do know a way to help remedy the situation.

    if you get ddosed

    Change your IP address

This will (probably) differ between the different ISPs, however changing your IP address can help if people have it and are sharing it. This can be done in a few different ways, so I'll link you to this guide on how to do it:

    https://www.comparitech.com/blog/vpn-privacy/change-ip-address/

And yes, two of these options do work on consoles too (contacting your ISP, or disconnecting and reconnecting all devices after around 15-20 minutes).

    if you get doxxed

Doxxing is the act of publicly revealing a person's previously private personal information.

Firstly, doxxing is a criminal offence (even if some countries don't have regulations explicitly on the subject matter, it can lead to other charges). If you are worried about having been doxxed, contact local police. If you have been threatened with personal information, screenshot and save their account details for use in the police report. They can be tracked down a lot of the time, and you can press charges.

This article by WIRED helps explain what to do if you've been doxxed, with tips from a cybersecurity expert.

    https://www.wired.com/story/what-do-to-if-you-are-being-doxed/

TL;DR- Assess if you're mentally ready to deal with it, lock down all socials and other accounts for a while, and report the account used for doxxing to respective sites (as it's often times against their TOS).

There isn't much you can do, but just make sure to keep everything as private as you can.

    if you get swatted

Swatting is the act of deceiving the emergency services into raiding someone's location, usually their house, by giving false tips to the staff. This could be something from illegal narcotics to alleged kidnappings. Swatting is also a criminal offence- so if you were doxxed and then swatted, be sure to save the details of the doxxer (do it anyway, but definitely do it here).

I can't exactly give a lot of tips here, however it's worth saying that you should use common sense. If you're being swatted, the emergency services have reason to believe you are potentially dangerous. Do not give them any reason to affirm these beliefs. Try to remain as calm as you possibly can- which of course will not be easy- and explain your situation as clearly as you can.

Remember that your life could potentially be at risk in case of a SWAT. This is genuinely dangerous and it's imperative you keep a cool head and do nothing reckless which could endanger you or others.

    Stay safe.

Thanks for the info Karu!! , hopefully the devs to something, this is pathetic at this point, I already lost hope in bhvr if we have to buy a vpn to play this game, I'm hoping the game either dies or they remove mmr since that is what the "hackers" want.

Almost like boons still take time to set up and not everyone is going to bring all of them anyway.

If you get countered once in a while, because someone happened to bring that one boon and you were too lazy to switch to charlotte to break it, idk what to tell you.

It's almost as if changing from charlotte to victor and vice versa does not take time, it is almost like it takes a while to walk from one side to the other, it's almost as if a survivor has unbreakable can almost guarantee a pick up if the twins player downs them far.

Play twins then we talk, 5 seconds to cooldown, walking from point a to point b, pick up and hook.

It is almost like people do not play buddy system when they are playing against a twins.

Yes I dont play Twins, yet I know you can change to charlotte and break the boon that way.

Do I need to copy paste my previous comment? Since I know you don't play killer or twins just leave it like that, because boons only work once.

Calling someone a troll just because they told you Charlotte exists and you can also use her isn't very smart. I just stated a fact.

I guess you didn't know about it, but Dead Hard had a specific form of counterplay before in open fields. The duration of Dead Hard is shorter than the duration of the killer's lunge attack. So if you were to get right up on the survivor while your hitboxes were practically touching and then lunge, you would be close enough to where even the Dead Hard dash wouldn't be enough to stop your weapon from hitting them after their invulnerability ended. If they dashed early, then you could just swing as normal. But now it's a garunteed escape from your weapon if they time it right even if they're nowhere near a pallet or vault.

So what you are saying is that it got another buff besides the hit validation? Because I have not read anything about that, it kinda still works like how it used to but the only difference is that it is more unfair now to how it was before, if you are touching their hitbox and they dash early you can still hit them after but if you hit them early it will count as a missed hit, am I missing something?

  • @Marigoria said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2627858#Comment_2627858

So it counters a single killer (kind of since you still can change to charlotte). How is that an issue exactly?

I feel like people are making it out to be the same boogeyman like when luckybreak was changed.

Everyone was saying how OP it would be and barely anyone uses it now.

Because charlotte is the reason people play twins, are you trolling? Because if I wanted to play a 115% killer I can just play anyone else but twins.

  • @Marigoria said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2627839#Comment_2627839

So the new boon, which only works in 24 meters, which is enough of a radius for you to hear, is going to counter slugging?

Just step on the boon or don't slug. How difficult is that to counter? You literally can hear it if it's that close.

Because boons not only work in x axis. They also work on y axis, on smaller maps like coal tower it is actually decently strong to counter slugging and snowballing if you are telling an oni player not to slug then my friend you sound very entitled.

Killers slug to try to get time back and try to reset, not only killers have time management but they also have to patrol gens, chase, worry about perks, have a balanced perk loadout but now we have to also worry about 5 totems.

  • @Sir_Child1234 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2627839#Comment_2627839

yes i did make a threat about leaving the game but i legit want more people to know how stupidly broken this bullshit is

I understand your pov honestly, most of us the people that played the ptb know how annoying these perks can and will be, bhvr is known as not giving a crap these days so they won't do anything at all.

Most people don't see issues but I do, I've played against decent to good players who used map offerings and boons to make it as unfun as possible, hit and run was countered, chaser you get gens done fast, snowball is getting countered.

Idc about the killer side as much anymore, sad because I spent over 2.7k hours on killer alone.

  • If you are leaving the game you do not need to make a thread, you can just uninstall and yes boons are really strong and annoying, they are limiting snowball so basically boon unbreakable can counter heavy snowballers like twins, oni, nurse.

Idk what is going through bhvr's mind when coming with these perks.

  • There are only 2 killers that get punished badly by the hit validation, blight and twins.

See, even if you hit the survivor during dead hard you only hear the scream and blood I think, you don't actually go into the wipe animation you go into the missed attack animation, it is extremely annoying and I understand I also hate it probably as much or more than you do, should it get fixed? Yes, is bhvr going to? Doubtfully.

Dead hard has always countered traps btw.

  • Is OP the new toxic on this community?

    Toxic ≠ BM , OP ≠ strong.

But to answer your question, yes she is very strong, no counterplays on loops and is almost always a guaranteed hit if you try looping so holding W will increase on the new update.

I bet that she will get nerfed soon after release like most killers do so worry not.

  • Survivors giving free hooks or kills in 2021? Lmao no, I haven't seen a survivor giving pity to the killer in years.

No matter how you play or anything, there is absolutely no way a survivor will give a free hook when they can BM at the exit gate, it is what it is.

  • @bluecapedhero said:

Hey I'm new to the game. (About 6 hours of gameplay and only level 7) I'm really liking it so far but I've noticed that the queue times for survivors is very long. Upwards to 10+ minutes. But queueing up as killer is very short. With the longest queue I've had being only 3 minutes give or take. Do players not like playing as killer? I'm not very good at killer so more often than not, I end up getting juked and not getting a single sacrifice. But when I play as survivor, I've seen killers wipe out the whole team with ease. I think killer is a lot of fun, but why don't people play killers often?

First of all, welcome in to the game.

Second, I wonder why? Is it because the game is not that fun as killer anymore? Time management is everything so it is stressful, worrying about perks, copy paste builds for every player, hit validations, killer nerfs, bad maps etc.

From my 3.2k hours of experience, I can certainly say, this game is not fun anymore for the killer side not how it was 2 years ago minimum.

Lithe, Sprint burst, balanced landing... Every exhaustion perk is strong, Dead hard is just very versatile and basically, everyone thinks it's the best. But personally, I think lithe is WAY better. Looping became such a weird mechanic nowadays. Dead hard often is baitable, like with wraith, just use M2 and they think it's an M1. Most people understand Dead hard wrong i think.

Dead hard for distance is not bait able And everyone has their preferences but I disagree with yours and will say that dead hard is the strongest exhaustion perk if the survivor is extremely good then sprint burst is better

  • @DemonDaddy said:

It's faster for the killer to wait out hook phases than engage in chase.

You might hate camping but it's a result of new player coddling and killers being uninterested in drawn-out chases.

The thing is that every "good" looper needs to have dead hard for some reason, if that perk didn't exist I would gladly take the chase if you are fun.

  • Nah it doesn't matter who but for some reason I have issues when moonwalking with Jeff or Tapp, everyone else I have no issues.

  • Not worth it in any killer besides twins now, not because of the time it takes but because of the blood pools.

CoH or well medkits negate it extremely bad so no, save yourself the perk slot for something better.

  • I can't believe I will say this but it is true, most of the addons on freddy are garbage, I don't play him but it is a sad thing to see.

  • @FrostySeal said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2603976#Comment_2603976

Yeah except I've been playing him for so long that now I'm stuck at high MMR. Trickster is nothing but a pub stomper or an old Bubba because in high MMR survivors know his main weakness which is rounding corners in loops. It makes so so that almost every chase your in will last for long amounts of time, and including the fact that now you have to reload constantly with his 44 knives makes it extremely difficult to win. The only times I've ever won in high MMR with Trickster was when the survivors messed up really badly. The only time you'll ever win in high MMR with Trickster is if the survivors are somehow bad, they mess up, or you get lucky with RNG and get a map that doesn't invalidate his entire power.

And you think I'm not high mmr then? You can tell if you are high mmr if you find cheaters really often which is another topic ofc but honestly trickster is far away from being bad

  • @Poorfu said:

The fact that behavior does absolutely nothing to fix their anti cheat and the fact they BAN legit players for leaving a cheater's lobby. It almost seems like they really want people to cheat in this game. Recorded evidence doesn't even help much anyway since they won't do crap about it. The cheater epidemic is very large right now and I don't see anything being done about it.

I got a little more familiar with how EAC works, so yes, apparently EAC only detects files being changed not 3rd party programs and scripts since they are not detected as "a manual edit".

To put simply if you mess up with let's say, custom perk icons you can get banned but cheaters that actively cheat and do crazy stuff like insta healing/massive speed boost/jump etc won't be banned as the game is detecting those as "perks" or falling from a high place.

To do something against cheaters they would need to get an actual anti cheat, secondly they would need to set something like a "what is happening in this match" thing, so they can confirm that someone is healing every 1 second and stuff.

  • If you mean money wise who knows honestly.

But the best killers they have done since the huntress, probably either Oni or Blight.

Ofc I am no counting licensed killers because even then bubba was trash for so long, myers is still the same, PH well silent hill fans are loyal and will follow PH, pig was extremely annoying, freddy was really bad but extremely unique probably the most unique killer we have had, pinhead brought drama, nemesis......ok?.

So yes, my answer is Oni or Blight.

  • Or what if you need to practice him more instead of just hoping to him to get a buff? In fact I personally believe trickster is not as weak as you make him out to be, trickster main here and I can easily say that he is really oppressive add bamboozle and shack is nothing but a joke vs him.

Practice aiming and you will see, I'm not saying that he is stronger than huntress per say but he is indeed at least high b or low a

  • I played against old nurse a lot so I'm still the same, I still hate 3 blink nurse.

I haven't played against the current one with the 3 blink addon.

Bro, I was going for Slippery meat memes with the luck perk and you know what happens? People kill themselves on hook and ruin my stacks. I have to purposely farm them and go down in their place just to have a chance with Lady luck. It is insane.

Wish I had teammates that would farm me rather than letting me die

SoloQ turned into battle royale with this escape based matchmaking.

^ this, solo queue is hell, you either die on first hook and survivors decide not to do anything besides escaping.

Solo queue is worse than before.

think it's pretty awful design given how being hit through pallets is always going to be a thing to some extent + how easy it is to deny

i'd turn it into +stun duration or something but heyo

The thing with stun durations and bhvr is that if they change something a number, for some reason accounts will be perma banned and they will crash your pc forever.

The perk design makes sense but honestly only counters enduring users which for some reason people don't use anymore.

I seldom do, but there are 3 situations where I'll bail.

    • If there are any .TTV named survivors in the lobby, particularly if there is more than 1. 9/10 times this is part of a premade, and almost always someone who smurfed their MMR down to stomp people to look better on stream. Plus, I end up getting nasty messages from their viewers if I somehow swing a win. Just not worth the hassle.
    • Survivors switching items at the last second, preventing me from adjusting my build. Don't do that.
    • If I recognize you as a smurf/someone who was a jerk in post-game/someone who was hacking previously. Yes, I have a list.

Ttvs or script kiddies that I see are the only ones I dodge.

I had issues with ttv players before so I refuse to play against any of them now.
