I'm a killer main and the lobbies are almost instant. My son who is survivor main has to wait a lot longer to get in the lobby.

    We are in Australia.

I just waited for a lobby at rank 11 for 10 minutes before finding a game... After rank reset.

So you are experiencing opposite things despite both being in Australia. It must be the rank then.

How many insta-heals and DS do you usually face when you play against a 4 SWF group?

Against 4 mans swf? At least 2 decisive, as for Instaheal it's pretty rare, but when it happens it's usually one, I've rarely met 4 insta

Insta-heals rarely, really? Consider yourself lucky then. ;)

Do keep in mind that syringe and stryptic are very rare items and cost a lot of bloodpoints. Insta-heal has its downsides- you lose the medkit, making it one time use.

These add-ons may be rare in theory but you find them in every bloodweb on lvl 50. Spending bloodpoints is not a downside gameplay-wise. And of course, insta-heals are one-time-use? If they weren't, nobody would need to play this game anymore.

When losing a brown medkit is the only argument somebody can bring up, then you know there really is no argument.

We have talked about these points several times already in this thread.

When does he gain NOED as a passive skill? After the gens are done?

Yes, when the last gen is fixed. :)

Did you know that long time ago NOED worked just like that? It was no hex. After the gens were done, the effect lasted for 2 minutes.

(Of course, it was a perk and no passive skill and it worked independent from how many survs were alive.)

  • It's fine. With the old BT, you had to self-care instead of mend and you couldn't do that at madness 3.

So you both would abandon the game.

    Interesting

Make that three because I'd rather uninstall this game than cherry pick lobbies all day , I'm here to have fun not waste anyone's time , in fact the past week I really haven't even played survivor because the times are still so bad I don't want to wait and piss myself off.

    Well just play killer then?

I pray to God they implement bans on dodgers so I can play what I want and not be forced to play killer to enjoy this game , this is one of my favorite games and while I like playing killer alot I like playing survivor more so here I am a week into playing nothing but killer and it's just getting kinda lame when survivor ques take 45 mins a match

Survivor queues don't take long because killers dodge lobbies. They take long because there are not enough people playing killer.

If lobby dodgers would get banned, that would result in even longer qeues for survivors.

If you want faster survivor qeues, then you must want more people to play killer.

I believe infinite loops were actually fixed in previous updates and what you're talking about is merely really good loops.

Infinites are fixed in that way that windows close after vaulting through them 3 times. That doesn't mean that there doesn't exist places where the surv can loop for 5 minutes and the killer can't do anything. And 3 survivors don't even need 5 minutes to fix 5 gens.

I think it's also okay to speak of "infinites" when you mean a spot where a braindead zombie can just run in a circle for more than a minute without having to worry.

  • If you post "infinites" here, this thread will become a tutorial for survivors.

Ok so remove Billy and Bubba's insta downs, remove all Mori's except Yellow, remove Iridescent Hatchets, and Pinky's Finger, remove Myers Evil III. Now does that sound like a fair trade to deal with the insta heals because if so I'm sure survivors would agree to it.

All the killer downs require skill, the insta-heals require a click. The non-existing killer's equivalent to an insta-heal would be the killer making a click and the survivor just losing one or two health states. If the killers could get such an add-on, survivors could keep the insta-heals.

However, the insta-heals do not need to be removed entirely, they just need a rework. There are already some good suggestions in this thread here.

Actually that's incorrect, it takes no skill to charge across the map and steer into a survivor

You are incorrect, sorry. What you describe here is not a demonstration of the Billy player's skill but a lack of the survivor's skill. However, it is skill-related since it comes down to the survivor not having enough skill.

For all the other examples you brought up: Of course it comes down to skill. Billy, Leatherface, Huntress, Clown, Michael - all the killers with insta-downs are still loopable and the survivor can evade getting hit. If the survivor gets hit, it's either because of the killer's skill or because of the survivor's lack of skill.

With insta-heals, on the other hand, there really is no skill involved.

I get that it's great for some survivors to have such an amazing freebie and of course they don't want to lose it, but it would be more honest if they said "We feel killers are strong and that add-on helps win a game we could not win otherwise" instead of denying that insta-heals are freebies.

Jesus christ. Survivors needs also some helpful stuff like insta-heals. Every side have a different benefits in the game. Such as the killer can mori survivors, insta-down them etc. Besides survivors more die than escape.

I believe that helpful stuff should still be balanced. I'm fine with the existence of insta-heals as long as there is a downside which makes the add-on balanced.

In general, if there is a strong perk/item/add-on for either survivors or killers, it should be balanced. I don't like the freebie character of insta-heals. It takes no skill, there is no risk. There is no equivalent for killers with such a freebie trait. A killer equivalent would be that somebody just randomly loses one or two health states. And of course, that doesn't sound reasonable at all. So why should survivors have such an unbalanced add-on?

Than why killers should have mori, insta-downs add-ons? Mori after the nerf doesn't have a downside. You just need to hook a survivor and ta dam you can mori him. Without this you must have to get them killed by hooking them 3 times per person, so there is not downsides for this offering. Insta-down hatchets? Yes there is downside by reducing the carrying a hatchets to only 1, but you have unlimited times to use it and insta-heals are only once per trial.

First, I don't think the Ebony Mori is balanced. It's too strong. But the existence of one unbalanced thing doesn't justify the existence of another unbalanced thing. There simply shouldn't be anything unbalanced in a game.

As you described, insta-down hatchets have a downside. And on top, it still takes skill to hit a survivor and the killer has only 3 attempts (if the add-on for additional hatchets is used). After these 3 attempts, the chase is over. Insta-heals on the other side take no skill at all. Just make a click and it's done.

It's similar to the one other insta-down add-on in DbD. That's it. Not a lot of killers even have insta-downs.

"You can only use insta-heals once per trial" is not a downside, either. If you could use them multiple times, nobody would play DbD anymore.

Than... I'm okay with insta-down nerf if we nerf a mori.

Make a thread about nerfing Mori's then. I'm certainly up for the idea if you have something specific in mind

Well 4 insta heals are way more powerful than a mori, so.....

I don't think those are actually more powerful than a mori, unless we're talking about the green sort specifically, which we wouldn't be. If everyone had a syringe, that would be 4 extra lives, while a mori would reduce 4 extra lives. Mind you, both are ultra rare and one side requires 4 to have the same affect. Additionally, moris can be done wherever and if you're getting up someone from the ground, you're often exchanging a health state for that. You also need to be in the right place at the right time. A person with a syringe being miles away from the downed person doesn't help even remotely. When you're chasing someone with a mori, you're often right on them.

A green Mori reduces 4 lives.

An ebony mori reduces 16 lives

    Just saying

I was counting the mori itself as a "hook" since you have to be caught again after being unhooked and it takes time to go through the animation, which some takes a bit (looking at you, Clown).

Let me explain why 4 insta-heals are more powerful than a mori if you don't see it:
The insta-heals delay the point of the survivors getting hooked the first time or (after they have been on the first hook) getting downed again. If the survivors play well, the killer has to go through 4 insta-heals before the first surv could get moried.

That consumes a lot of the killer's time. Meanwhile, the gens have been done. A mori is only powerful if the survivors give the killer enough time to use it.

Did you just say that you can't beat a SWF group before they finish the gens and you have to rely on them making mistakes when the exit gates are open? :)

    No I did not.

Then why did you mention this example? The obvious thing to say would be that you don't have a problem against a SWF with multiple DCs and insta-heals and you win anyways.

But I don't always win. It's just so stupid to back away from a match when it looks like it's gonna be hard. I like it hard. I often get destroyed by well organized teams who are on comm. But this is what makes the occasional victory worthy.

If you play against a SWF group with DCs, insta-heals etc. and you lose: Do you think you lose because you are not a good enough killer?

    Yes.

Are you a Nurse or did you bring an Ebony Mori?

Clown, Freddy, Wraith, Spirit. Rarely use mories. Why?

Because you think you lose because you are not a good enough killer even when there is a SWF group with DCs and insta-heals.

You would only be half-right if you were a super good Nurse. Since you are not playing Nurse, you are wrong. If you win against those teams, it's because they mess up. You don't have a fair chance.

There's never a "fair chance". A lot depends on luck. You gotta win. If you lose, you have to ask "what can I do to do better next time". Or we can cry "unfair" but no one gives a #########, and why should anyone? Nothing is "fair", that's an artificial concept.

Life sometimes isn't fair but this is a video game. And in a game, unbalance is unfairness. And the community and the devs should care very much about getting this game to a balanced state.

Not everyone is willing to play matches they have no chance winning and what that means is clear to see. Just take a lot at the queue times for survivors.

And besides the event? :) It was more a general question what would people get motivated to play more games as killer.

I play them somewhat equally outside of it, though I wish I could endlessly use certain addon combinations on a few killers.

    Examples:
    -6 Jigsaw box Pig
    -Full Phase Walk speed Spirit
    -XXXtra dark traps Trapper

That's because besides Nurse and maybe Billy, the killers are in general too weak to be played without add-ons. Some killers are so weak that you would need strong add-ons as base kit, to be fair.

(And aren't Trapper's tar bottles still bugged? I thought the devs haven't fixed them yet.)

  • Of course, there are long waiting times as a survivor. Nobody plays killer at the moment. As a killer, you get instant lobbies. And why doesn't anybody want to play killer? Because this game is unbalanced and survivor is easy mode.

Really, play killer for a while on highrank and then we can have a talk about camping, tunneling and op killer add-ons.

(BTW, your claim #7 isn't even remotely true.)

I did not read the op, so consider me your guinea pig for understanding what the event is about. As I said, keep it simple, but you can't exclude any information about changes to the "normal" DbD. The guinea pig needs to be informed about everything. ;)

So, what is this special item? Is it like the vessel but just another skin?
Are there any bonus bloodpoints involved?
What's with the special hooks? That summary felt way too short. I don't know what's going on. I'm a clueless event participant!

Okey, so imagine it like this: You are playing survivor in this event.
You are facing a stronger killer as usually... why? Because this killer has 3 special hooks with 6 different powers attached to it that will take effect if the killers hang a survivor on it! There are 6 type of effects that range from giving you bloodwarden all the way to allowing you to fully regress a generator all the way to allowing you to sneakily shove in Hex: Lullaby skillchecks among their normal pool of skillchecks. In other words... you're dealing with a stronger opponent.

So what do survivors get? There's a special item in the game that absorbs souls from dead survivors; the Wunderwaffe (placeholder name). A metal item with blue lighting that gives them more and more repair speed the more survivors die. On top of that; It's the only item that allows someone to sabotage those new dangerous hook. The person with the waffe has their aura revealed to all other survivors.

The item is spawned on either 1 of the 5 racks, which spawn on a totem spot. After someone takes it and gets hooked with it, the item becomes more and more damaged. if 4 people were hooked with the Waffe, it breaks.
When you are hooked with the waffe, you can "drop it", making it return safely to a random rack. If you decide to hold on to it, then your saviour will take over the item upon being unhooked, passing the experience on to the other.

Here is your dilemma as a survivor:
So the item is vulnerable... Should you pick it up? It has 4 lives... and you'll definitely need it in the end game for repair speed. You can choose to tap into it's power, but make sure to do so what it's safe... the Waffe leaves special traces... generators start making blue sparks...

If 1 survivor managed to escape with the waffe, every survivor gets their event point. If the killer managed to kill all survivors/force them out while keeping the item in the map, then the killer takes their win earning their event point. (:

There are a lot of fine details that are interesting to cover. Strategies etc. But the main takeaway is; if you have the waffe, you become a monster of a survivor; a target of the highest priority~

Okay, you misunderstood me, not problem.

Try writing the patch notes for the event. I am going to play survivor and killer. The patch notes need to include everything. No information left.

You only need to write it short and precise but it has to include everything. As I said, pretend you are writing the patch notes for the event that everyone is going to read.

I've played a fair amount of Doctor on PS4, and the FPS is fine. If you think it's actually that bad, you should see how Xbox runs it.

It's not about the person playing the Doc, it's about the people playing surv who have the fps problem.

This issue is very real and definitely messes up your looping as a survivor on PS4.

...But since survivors are the larger group, they can easily review bomb and force the devs to act in their favor.

I think the opposite is the case. Even if it's 90% survivors VS 10% killer the devs have to orientate at (realistic) killer opinions. If not the player base moves further to 95 vs 5% and so on. And this would be the death of the game.
And exactly that is what I m missing in many threads here. The insight that when there are no killer anymore there are no survivors needed and the game is gone.

You kind of describe what is happening right now. At least on PS4, there is an obvious lack of people playing killer so that the waiting times for survivors are super high.

People explain why they don't play a lot of killer or no killer at all. The devs need to take action and make some changes. If they don't, the number of killer players will continue to decrease.

  • You don't have to wait all day. Your search was buggy, you'd just have to start a new one.

Depending on what role you play (killer, solo surv, SWF) and on which platform you are playing, the queue times differ from instant lobbies to having to wait like 30 minutes.

Do you have any ideas to rework keys perhaps?

Maybe it should take a little bit to actually open them, possibly include skillchecks or alert the killer when a survivor is unlocking it. This way, a survivor cant just jump into it mid chase and they'd need to wait for the killer to be a decent distance away.

I don't think that change would be enough. It's not only about survivors escaping mid-chase.

Imagine that only 2 survivors are still alive, 3 gens have been done. The survivors take a key and escape through the hatch. That's not fair to the killer at all. The killer can't do anything against it.

The hatch should only be an option for the last survivor. If there are more survivors alive, they should have to repair all the gens.

    @fluffybunny said:
but there are counters towards people having keys

Please tell me the counter to survivors getting keys from chests. You know Franklin's isn't one.

You should know how hard it is to find a key once it's hit out of your hands. It's a rare, expensive item meant to speed the game up, essentially like a mori.

You are really trying to tell me that Franklin's is a counter against keys found in chests...

Have you ever had a key smacked out of your hand before as survivor? If you're paranoid over something that also requires finding a hatch that's making no noise and may or may not be hidden, just bring franky's. It's more of a counter than some of the stuff that killers have and if you smack the key person enough, the item will be depleted.

You tell me that you find it hard to find a closed hatch.
You also tell me that it's hard for you to find an item again after you've dropped it due to Franklin's.

Honestly, these things are some of the easiest elements in the game. Really. You need to a reach a point where you don't consider these things hard anymore first. Then, you can have reasonable discussions about balance issues.

I take it you're hatch god and keys have a beacon of light when you play survivor. I hate to break it to you, but for everyone else keys are small little objects that often blends with environments.

If you get hit and lose the item due to Franklin's, you know where on the map that happened. It did not happen to someone else. You were right there. You were a participant some seconds or minutes ago. You just go back to the place and pick your item up. You have to remember where you lost your item only for a couple of minutes at max!

If you insist that you are telling the truth and that this is indeed a challenge for you, then that's how it is. But for the big majority of players it isn't.

I am asking because I prefer playing it solo. How many of us survivors do too?

Honestly yes. It is more viable playing with friends than solo (Now i play solo and sometimes it's a #########). Random survivors sometimes are so [BAD WORD] stupids, especially in red ranks when they waste a lot of time self-caring themselves (against a legion too omegalul), using urban immersion and doing nothing, waiting for hatch, not finding ruin, exploting gens, dc'ing or doing unsafe hooks. That kind of mistakes can really change a match in favor of the killer, that's why I hate sometimes playing solo.

That's off-topic but I wanted to reply to that. What you describe are the results of the bad ranking system. Players pip too easy. And you find yourself in a game with bad teammates who are rank 1 but would belong on rank 16.

  • I assume a lot of people would leave DbD. I would not. I play more solo surv than SWF.

SWF doesn't need to be removed, it needs to be balanced. Killers would not have a problem playing against SWF if they had a fair chance in winning.

  • @KingB said:
@fcc2014 I dont dent solo players are underpowered against killers. The scale of balance is
    1. Swf
    2. Killers
    3. Solo survivors.
I'm a p3 david and facing rank 7ish killers I play swf (without comms) and rarely get dodged. Last night out of 5 games 1 we got dodged and 1 was a dc at the start. The other 3 were normal games.

Playing killer is way harder than solo surv. If the solo survs know what they are doing, the killer still has a super hard time. And the solo survs don't even have to bring any 2nd-chance perks or items for that.

Of course, you'll lose games as a solo surv. But that usually happens because at least one or two survs were playing bad. It's not because the killer is so powerful.

Those of us who don't lobby dodge ever know the sweet taste of slaughtering a full SWF team, after being genrushed, with the help of BW and their own crazy altruism. Wouldn't pass up on that kind of fun :)

I'm not playing killer right now because they get far less coins on average than a survivor for the Moonrise event.

And besides the event? :) It was more a general question what would people get motivated to play more games as killer.

The event is simple, really: There is 1 special item in the game. If the survivors manage to escape with it, all survivors get an event point. If no more survivors remain in the map (either dead/escaped) but the item still remains in the map/is destroyed, the killer will get an even point.

    +

3 special hooks spawn with 2 hooks each. Depending on on which hook you hang someone, they get 1 buff out of a list of 6.

Keys need a rework. Hatch as well, but keys more urgently. Using a key to open the hatch is a free escape and totally unbalanced.

If there are more survivors alive, they should have to repair all the gens.

but there are counters towards people having keys

  • I know this bug on PS4, but it only occurs for healing.

And I'm not the only one, basically every PS4 DbD player I know has this problem on a regular basis, but only for healing.

    @Giddawid
Could you please add this to your note for the bug team?

  • Please give us a shorter description of your event idea.

Keep in mind that any event still needs to stay simple and can't bring so many changes that players need to read a couple of pages in order to know what is happening.

It should not take a longer description for your event than the descriptions of the past events.

What includes toxic stuff for you? Is it getting DS'ed multiple times or is it "only" tbagging and flashlight click-click?

If the killer camps, do gens. Easy 3 escape.

You're right, but that doesn't change the fact that camping is boring af and makes the game not worth playing.

The big majority of killers would stop camping when the survivors would not reward their behaviour.

  • @thesuicidefox
First, thanks for writing down your opinion so detailed. :) I appreciate it, even when I don't share your opinion.

As long as no survivor makes stupid plays and the killer isn't a nurse, playing solo surv is easy and playing SWF is super easy. And that even without insta-heals, DS or anything similar.

I'm stating that from my own perspective. I'm a survivor main.

Killers are not in a good spot at all. If you add a couple of DS and so on to the mix, the killer is helpless.

  • So what would you like to change?

  • Stop trolling or Santa won't bring you any gifts this year.

  • @ProfessorDunwich said:
Losing as Killer feels like crap. Dealing with coordinated SWF is one of the worst gaming experiences I've had, the tbagging at the gates just rubs it in.

But your main problem is the advantage that SWF groups have compared to solo survivors, correct?
If SWF was balanced, you wouldn't mind the occasional tbagging from SWFs or solos that much?

I don't dodge lobbies, I would still continue to play.

It is either I got used to SWF groups or they are not that big of a deal.

I don't want to lead this discussion away from the original topic, but your reply just got me really curious: In a 4 SWF group, how many DS and insta-heals are you facing on average?

1 … 71 72 73 74 75 … 82
