Only thing I'm not a fan of is the lingering effect. Makes it too easy to farm team mates. Considering I just got farmed off hook repeatedly by a Claire, I'm a bit bitter about it 🤣

I don't think it affects bp offerings anymore.
That's a shame

May be they meant more killers that hot like Nurse, not strong like Nurse. 👉️👈️

Yeah, making them immune to Hemorrhage is all they needed :(

As a survivor main, it's always Caulrophobia. I can't hit those skill checks to save my life.

Not really. Killers dont need exhaustion anymore and if they do they are more worried of background player. Theres no reason to bring both cause iron will does everything that bite the bullet does but better.
I meant there is room for both to exist in the game. Not both to be used together.
When I need to do an escape chase challenge, I always use BTB with Overcome + Lucky Break and a medkit. It is extremely effective at losing chase, almost hilariously so. This is not something you could do with Iron Will (it doesn't work with Overcome due to Exhaustion). So for me, I still have reason to use BTB as needed without having to pick IW over it.
-
I can't see them making it bannable but I imagine it would now more definitively fall under griefing. With permanently broken hooks, it obviously was too hard to distinguish why the killer was opting not to hook. So yeah, they might start taking action under griefing, it's possible.
-
Nah, BTB works with Exhaustion. Lose line of sight after getting ahead with an Exhaustion perk, then start healing with a medkit and the killer will be confused. That's how I've always used it anyway. There's room for both.

The problem with the perk is there is no actual counterplay to its effect. I guess maybe spies, so if they happen to be near but disturb a crow you get a notification, but then you are blind and can't hear because of the visual notification. Pair it with lucky break and overcome and boom, no chases will be taking place after the first hit.
Overcome causes Exhaustion, which cancels Iron Will. So this combo won't work. There's also a multitude of aura reading perks at a killers disposal now (that I see in every game) to help find a quiet survivor. There were only a few back when old Iron Will existed.

It's still hard countered by hemorrhage, which has always been the issue with this and reactive healing. Until that aspect is fixed, neither one is likely to see much play.
Yeah, I'm actually disappointed in its buff. I knew it needed one but all it needed was to not be affected by hemorrhage.

Ultimate Weapon is assuming that the survivor is even in range.
Doesn't Residual Manifest do what you just described with a flashlight? If the match started without aura reading it's rough but otherwise, once you look around, it's not too difficult to remember.
I mean. It does hinder the killer from hunting the survivor. You can't find them.
Not having aura reading on killer is a problem . You don't see survivor where are you gonna go? Your going to stay where you know 1 is and 1 will (probably) show up. The hook. I can see how not having distortion could be a problem if your being targeted specifically which is why I prefer the idea of distortion getting tokens back while in chase. It would prevent the people who ONLY hide and don't do gens from hiding all game and would make situations of getting targeted less of a problem.
Both sides have problems with distortion not just survivor.
Getting tokens while in chase is just a win win for the killer.
Currently, if a survivor has Distortion the killer may have to use other means of tracking (I started playing when there was only BBQ and Nurses - killers did fine).
If tokens only fill in chase, then if the killer doesn't get value from their aura perks there's no need for them to go out of their way to do anything at all. Either the survivor loses all tokens (which happens pretty fast with full aura builds) and the killer starts to see them. Or the survivor comes to the killer to initiate chase. So the killer doesn't actually have to make any effort at all. They get to just wait for the survivor to come to them.
IMO aura perks already prevent alot of players from developing game sense (BBQ&Chilli brain is a thing) and Distortion probably does you a favour by making you fall back on the old fashion ways of tracking down survivors via patrolling gens and following scratch marks. It also doesn't prevent you from getting some value from your aura perks unless you happen to get a rare team of full Distortion users.

In my experience it was only good on the already quieter characters.
Pretty much. A Spirit main did some testing of all the survivors with current (75%) Iron Will, which was interesting. Can skip to the end for their ranking. It was based purely on Spirit as the killer, but since most of the complaints around original Iron Will were because of Spirit (if I'm recalling correctly) they are probably the best judges when it comes to this perk.

Yeah, I do think we should balance for the most amount of people. Balancing around a 13K hour competitive player mindset is silly, and I'm 99% sure that Hens would agree.
It's no surprise that Hens managed to escape in a decent number of games. He's a comp player and a good one at that.
Hens does agree. I was watching his stream last week where he said true comp players don't want or expect the game to be balanced around them (paraphrasing).
-
This is what it should have been after 6.1. It didn't need both the 75% and Exhaustion requirement. It should have been one or the other. I'd have actually preferred it be the other way - keep the 75% and remove Exhaustion requirement - but this works.

Mindbreaker and UW don't take away your aura reading perpetually for the whole trial, they only turn it off under specific conditions and only for a few seconds. The proper analogy would be something like "hiding your aura while the killer is carrying a survivor", not "hiding your aura any time and indefinitely" as it is now.
They take it away when it matters most. When I'm on a gen and Mindbreaker is active then Alert (which let's me know which direction the killer is headed or coming from) is useless. Empathy, which is handy at letting me know exactly where a team mate is being chased or if they're around for a heal exchange, no longer gives me the info I want. Mindbreaker lasts the entire time I'm doing my objective, which is a good chunk of my time, and UW for 30s a time.
And on the flipside, if you're running 4 aura perks then you'll be eating through Distortion stacks fast so your perks aren't useless indefinitely either.

If your build is built around aura reading, one single perk actually just makes you perkless. What killer perk can do the same with whole survivor builds?
My main perks are Empathy and Alert, and sometimes I chuck on Deja Vu, then perks like Mindbreaker and Ultimate Weapon render them useless. That's okay though because no one is forcing me to run those perks, I make a choice to put all my eggs in one basket.

The bloodpoints thing as survivor, I just don't understand it. One week in and I'm still not getting how I'm supposed to maximise bp. This is a game I just played now, and even with one person DCing at the start of the game and the three of us playing just fine after (we did get 3 gens done, and killer didn't tunnel) these are the results. Killers are raking in the bp in every game and I can't work out how to do the same as survivor.
The anniversary event is my favourite event of the year normally and last year I got so much prestiging done, and this year I'm getting bugger all prestiging. I'm gonna play regular mode I think.
-
I equipped Distortion for the first time in about 6 months, purely for the intention of hopefully getting the chance/time to get some decent bp from the event. All my stacks were gone within a couple minutes against a cracked Billy. The fact that people act like the game would be healthier without Distortion while saying nothing about the absolute abundance of aura reading perks on the killers side blows my mind. Making it about "selfish survivors" is a diversion tactic.
And no, I didn't make any decent bp.
-
Correct 😊 it was back to working when I checked last night
-
I've given up on voicing solo queue concerns. Feels a bit like shouting into the wind at this point tbh
-
They've never fully depleted since the healing nerf. I've always had a small amount left after healing fully. It made doing those 'deplete (x) medkit' challenges a pain at times. It appears that was intentional (i imagine so you can use the syringe) and there was a bug recently where the medkit was depleting.

I do this if it's early game just in case. I don't want to leave with 3k bloodpoints. Late game I don't care if I get Tombstone'd.

The devs really need to think things through a bit more before release. I think having it on a time limit is a fair option.

-
The Ring. Great movie
-
If I'm understanding correctly, this won't work because you tend to see the stronger killers in higher MMR where they tend to go against stronger opponents. So less gen regression would negatively affect long term experienced players (ie those who probably spend the most money on the game too) while making things harder on new/low MMR survivors who will likely now have more gen regression to deal with than high MMR survivors. Not to mention, BHVR have already said that "weaker" killers perform very well in low-mid MMR. I think the easiest option is just stick with the killer/s you are comfortable with, though that wouldn't help content creators like SJ who need to play every killer for views and content.
-
Let's be honest, we'd all just block Skull Merchant. That's why they'd never do it lol

This is literally me. Sure I got almost 4k hours in the game, but I only see a select few killers every game. Hag? I probably went against her in maybe 20 games out of like 2500 vs my 2000 Wesker games
Same lol Hag and Twins make me feel like a novice
-
It's really the only thing that still scares me in this game
-
There's simply more killers to play against now than back then. Survivors need to learn to play against all of them, with their powers or anti-loop etc. I imagine newer players would struggle, especially with killers you don't see alot of. Like, imagine a 200 hour survivor against a 200 hour Hag main. The survivor may have only seen a Hag a few times by that point and still struggles whereas the killer would have had a firm grasp of the Hag by then and know how to play efficiently against survivors.

You say "if the pace of the game permits it". Who determines that? How? If three gens pop in my first chase am I allowed to get a survivor out of the game? That survivor absolutely, under no circumstances would not think to themselves "oh, I understand. The killer has to slow down the game somehow". Never. Survivors are utterly incapable of that sort of empathy.
I was quoting the person I was replying to. They made that comment. Ask them what they meant by that as I can't read their mind. Obviously the killer makes that judgement call. But, again, it shouldn't be up to killers to have to dictate the flow of the game to ensure survivors get the most out of the event. That's BHVRs job.

The dont bring gen rushing build
Dont bring bnp and comodious
Dont go bodyblocking me when you got unhooked
Its a double edged sword
I don't do any of that. But everyone can play how they want, including yourself. It's BHVR that folks are asking to work out the logistics of survivors being able to maximise on bp without having to depend on our literal opponent to help us out. You don't have to take it personally. Bloodpoints aren't a finite resource that survivors are trying to take from killers pockets.
-
@Souplet said:
Did you ever consider that i don't want to waste time farming bp with you ?
I dont want to sit here and watch you do gens ?
I usually play fair, going for 12 hooks if i can and if the pace of the game permits it. If i see that i got 2 hooks with 2 gens done, yeah, im gonna try a little harder because im at a clear disadvantage and i still want to win
Sometimes, it happens that i stumble on the same person multiple times. Thats unlucky but i wont just ignore you and go to the other side of the map to hope to find someone (i do it when game is clearly one sided and i want to have some fun).
I'll give you hatch if i feel like giving you hatch.
It's not being a douchebag, its just playing the game. I play in the event mode because i find it fun. It doesn't mean that i want tofool around for 20 min, i want to actually play.
Don't expect people to play as you want them to. Expect them to play how the games allows it.
No one is asking to farm with you.
No one is asking you to sit and watch people do gens.
"I usually play fair, going for 12 hooks if i can and if the pace of the game permits it"
That's pretty much all that is being asked.
-
Honestly, every time I ready up the only thing I think to myself is 'hope this killer is chill so i get some points.' This is inarguably THE best time of the year to rack up the bp and do some prestiging, and the only thing I dislike is how as a survivor my ability to maximise bp seems to depend on how the killer I'm facing feels. Because the killer gets crazy good bp regardless. They have no reason to care what i get as there's no incentive for them to do so, so at the very least the devs could maybe increase points for survivor objectives so we can each walk away with something decent on our own esteem and not just if the killer lets us (and no, I'm not talking farming (I personally don't find farming fun)).

This was during endgame when the camp meter was gone. I see Bubbas a lot they tend to camp when the final gen is done.
Ahh that explains it. Bugger
-
I thought face camping Bubbas were extinct lol wonder if he's a returning player for the event and doesn't know about anti camp lol
-
I will let go on hook in that situation. Most team mates do. If they're holding on though then I'll try for a rescue in case they have an escape daily or something. I'll just take them at their "word" that the game is still worth playing for them. I don't care enough tbh at that point. Game is over.
-
Sadly events tend to bring the trolls out of their caves :( make sure to report that person in the endgame chat. BHVR have very little tolerance for bigotry

I am unsure if we are supposed to have that challenge active or it just counts it once for us.
Could be that its bugged, I had at one time, I saw the counter saying personal progress 2/2 (+3) which would indicate some more progress. But it does not show that anymore.Post-game screen pop up shows me how much I've contributed but it only goes up when the challenge is selected
-
They'll cut it down, they always do
-
I was literally going to open a thread asking how to maximise bp lol saw an Ada killed in early game by a Tombstone Myers, and as far as I saw all she'd done previously was co-completed a gen and unhooked the first down before she was grabbed and killed. I felt so bad for her thinking she'd have a few thousand bp but then saw endgame where she had the highest bp. I wanna know what I need to be doing to get these bloodpoints in a few minutes lol
-
They're usually referred to as "the weak link" in this community, and you'll find they're recommended to tunnel. It's nice though that you cut them some slack as I don't think it's good for the game to give newer players a reason to uninstall
-
@Katzengott said:
I wish ppl in here would also mention in which region they're playing. Because it's not just the time when you play, the region is a factor on top. What happens at peak times, usually ~ 6PM-12PM, weekends and holidays, the playerpool becomes much larger so the game prioritieses queue times over MMR and you get a wider range of "skill" = less skilled players on both sides.
So for example, playing in EU in the morning/noon/afternoon is a f sweatfest, not just in DBD.
I'd have thought it would be the opposite - the larger the playerbase, the more accurate they can be with MMR. When there are less people playing then it may be less accurate as they may not have as many people in the same MMR bracket to create lobbies, hence they prioritise queue times over MMR.

Can I have a perk that prevents my teammates from bringing items in solo queue, so I don't have to roleplay as an Amazon delivery driver to haul their dropped items to the corner of the map in every game where we face the franklin's/weave combo?
That would be nice. Followed a couple team mates from hook to a gen that should have been done ages ago and both ran over a toolbox near the gen and I was the only one to pick it up and check, and of course it was Weave Attunement. Had to go find a corner near a completed gen to leave it. I'm glad killers are enjoying it but it's ridiculous and I'm not sure why the devs felt it was fine unless they were worried about Vecna not selling.
-
There's another thread further down the page from a QLDer experiencing the same. I'm in Western Australia and we often connect to the SEA server anyway so won't notice much of a difference. I have had one game with crazy jumps and stuttering but every other game has been fine
-
I think the best thing to do is show in endgame which players were in a swf. Because I don't think people get swfs as often as they think they do and that might be the best wake up call.
