This will be an unpopular take because the ranking system was pretty well hated, but I did like that it enabled me to essentially do my own matchmaking. I knew that going into red rank meant sweaty and competitive team mates and opponents, for example, while purple was the sweet spot for me where everyone seemed more on my level, so I'd purposely try and stay there. SBMM is the superior option of course but only when it works, which honestly doesn’t feel like it does alot of the time. Maybe there was a bigger pool of players back then.

Do you mean the auto-aim when you enter cameras, which automatically looked at survivors or do you mean the auto-aim for shooting survivors while walking to tp?
I think the automatic looking at the survivor in the cameras was ridiculous, but the aiming while walking to shoot survivors needs a auto-assist for controller.
If I recall correctly, it was the auto aim of the cameras

I doubt it grants any significant increase in kill rates, the biggest one who hits by this is the one who is not that competent to begin with
Those who aren't competent bring down those who are. You can't do 5 gens on your own. Corrupt is a decent early slowdown in a game where survivors have very little comeback options once things start to snowball, and it makes maps alot smaller temporarily and brings survivors to the killer. And making it basekit would give this to every killer at every level on every map, so you will definitely see a kill rate increase. If you anticipate it wouldn't make a difference then why would the demand for it to be basekit be there? It's one of the most common requests I see from killers and I doubt it's because they want to prolong a losing game. I think people are being disingenuous if they don't recognize how valuable extra time is to the killer and how bad it for survivors in this game.
As someone said above - it might make high MMR palatable, but it'd be the death knell of low MMR. And regardless of what the general playerbase thinks of low MMR, they are the most important bracket to retain for the health and longevity of the game.
-
Gens already don't get done in my solo queue games. I guarantee Corrupt basekit would increase kill rates leading to big buffs for survivors to balance it out.
-
All I've seen so far is the auto aim has been dropped, as feedback from Singularity players was that it took skill expression away from him. Other than that I don't think we've heard anything.

It's not that the post is about mass exodus or anything happened, but rather we had a time survivor que literally takes like a dozen minutes and more
I see this pop up every now and then, but I was playing during the time this apparently happened and never experienced these queue times myself. I guess it was a regional thing?
-
It changes alot. At the moment it'd be Skull Merchant, Trickster, and Pinhead. I don't mind the latter in general, it's just that he's miserable to face in solo queue because of how many survivors avoid doing the box. I usually end up doing it most of the time so am just always in chase. When I have a team that takes turns then I don't mind facing Pinhead so much.
-
Gen placement is definitely an issue of mine also. I saw in the recent Reddit AMA that a dev commented on the eventual Backwater Swamp rework that they'll be getting rid of edge map gen spawns. So it seems like it's intentional for gens to spawn closer together, as edge map gens are probably the best way to help spread them out. I played against a Xeno the other day on Greenville who I didn't see or hear use the tunnelling system once because they didn't need to.

The derailing is the worst part for sure. The whataboutism on this forum is frustrating.
For sure. I'd just like to be able to discuss issues without the usual suspects derailing and minimising. I don't play much killer so I tend to avoid killer-centric topics and stay in my lane, but I can't say the same courtesy gets extended alot of the time. I don't mind killer mains who also play survivor contributing to survivor discussions btw, or vice versa, as it helps to gain perspective. But I'm talking about the unhelpful comments that contribute nothing constructive (and the whataboutisms as you said). Threads about survivor issues just go downhill so fast that I end up just opting out.
-
Schrodinger's tunneller?
-
I believe it was because of console performance issues. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong
-
Topics around survivor issues do tend to get derailed. You basically get told to stop complaining. I don't really share my thoughts anymore, I don't see the point. I've noticed alot of other familiar survivor mains don't post much anymore either.

I don‘t understand how so many people call MFT good. Deep wounds is so annoying to play with, especially since everything becomes darker and darker. The 3% haste isn‘t even much and in most situations it doesn‘t even make any difference. Then activating it without dead hard or getting tunneled isn’t really possible.
Agreed. If the screen didn't get darker and darker with DW then it'd be fine. But it essentially puts a time limit on an already strict activation requirement.
I'm inclined to believe a bunch of people have renewed interest in the game thanks to the anniversary event and don't realize MFT was nerfed.
-
Think it all depends on how popular it is. Cote did an interview where he said he was surprised by how unpopular Lights Out mode was (said most people returned to normal mode pretty fast). It doesn't look like 2v8 will be like a regular game of DBD anyway. I'm keen to try it out.
-
Well I play only solo queue and I want to hide Prestige as well. Everyone knows how flimsy the matchmaking system is, and I don't want my opponents circumventing it even more to seek out lower MMR solo teams to steamroll. Hiding Prestige will undoubtedly, to a degree, cut down on lobby dodging and hopefully the matchmaking system can start to work as intended.

How are people ending with so many cakes? I had like 400 by the end and I feel like I played way more than I wanted to or was reasonable
Same, but I played survivor only this time which is why.
-
That's usually the best time to do any tome challenge I'm working on that involves totems or chests. So I don't annoy my team or make them think I'm throwing the game by doing it any earlier. If no one is on a gen though then I'll prioritise that because someone needs to be on one.
-
A decent Nurse is difficult to counter. The best I hope for is to keep her busy for as long as possible. Trying to stay out of line of sight (can be very map dependent I know) is the best option, and also be as unpredictable as possible

"just being better than the killer" isn't really that difficult against average killers, though
They are also just as bad as common players
Sure. And I'd have no issue with the person I replied to showing examples of average survivors vs average killers to make his/her point. "Hens can do it so anyone can" doesn't hold weight imo. I've seen you're in another thread regarding comp players and you acknowledge that of course the comp player, being the better player, would be expected to best their opponent.

Shouldn't your argument apply to Hen's matches since he's playing solo queue as well though? He managed to boost his team's escape rate by 50%, which is very significant.
I believe the playing better argument is still applicable here since if your team played better, the gens would have been done. If you loop the killer for 20 minutes and your team doesn't finish the gens, it's more reasonable to blame your team at that point.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3754560#Comment_3754560
That isn't a problem specific to tunnelling. If the killer isn't tunnelling and your team doesn't do gens, you would have the same problem.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3754576#Comment_3754576
Saying tunneling doesn't happen much is like saying cheaters do not cheat much.
Cheaters are extremely rare though? They probably occur once every 500-1000 matches.
Tunneling is essentially an exploit of game design for a huge tactical advantage
It isn't an exploit. BHVR has already acknowledged tunnelling as a legitimate strategy and has no intention of treating it as an exploit.
It's easy for killer to tunnel but impossible to counterplay it.
Can you explain what's happening here then? If it's impossible to counterplay, why are 3-4 survivors escaping when the killer is hard tunnelling?
I really don't think Hens should be held up as the standard at all. I would expect people to be good at their job - especially after spending years at it. He literally makes his living playing DBD. He's a comp player. He is the exception, not the rule. As I said earlier, I agree that tunnelling isn't as frequent as most people claim it is but it just kind of grinds my gears seeing a "professional" DBD player being held as evidence to countering it lol like, if I had a water leak at my house of course the plumber could fix it. I wouldn't expect an electrician to get the same results.
Tunnelling is an easy enough tactic that someone who buys the game today can implement it to great success. But you need to be a full-time DBD player in order to counter it? That doesn't seem like a good comparison lol
-
Yeah ngl I'm glad it's done with lol
-
This bit was concerning... did they just turn a blind eye to the overwhelming negative feedback around Haddonfield?
-
I took it as positive news. They aren't happy with her, which was great to hear. Her not getting reworked again for awhile isn't surprising - they've already put alot of time and resources into her previous reworks.

If a survivor equips an anti-tunnel perk like DS, and isn’t getting tunneled, then many of them like to weaponize the perk against the killer so they “don’t waste the perk”.
And that’s the problem with many of the anti-tunnel perks.
DS has been around since 2016 and works once a match (no longer in endgame). In the same vein that I'm sure tunnelling is in a minority of games, I'm inclined to believe those who bring and weaponise DS are an even smaller minority than that.
-
There's a lot of server issues going on at the moment. I personally haven't experienced any booting from games but I've had a number of lagging and rubber banding issues. The whole thing about cheaters disconnecting players is just a rumour afaik. I've never seen it confirmed at least.
-
One streamer I follow got a code but he is good friends with a Fog Whisperer and got it immediately. Another three I watch frequently have had the shirtmysurvivor hashtag going but have got nothing so far
-
For experienced survivors possibly. Those who aren't confident in chase are unlikely to pick it over Distortion.
-
Babysitter doesn't give endurance... so why would someone body block you with it? It basically gives the other survivor No Mither with the bonus of a speed boost for 30 seconds.
-
I see it every now and then on Nurses primarily. They usually steam roll everyone lol
-

Them: I'm "tunneled" all the time!
Me: Prove it.
Them: Trust me, bro.
Scott Jund: The facts show you're not being "tunneled" very much at all.
BHVR: Better add more assists to help with the "tunneling" problem instead of realizing we're being manipulated by liars.
There's nothing wrong with anti-tunnel perks. If tunnelling isn't happening as much as people feel it is, then they'll realize that when they get little to no value out of the perk/s and they'll eventually swap it to something else. As I said in my comment, I rarely see tunnelling but there's nothing wrong with anti-tunnelling perk options. If only a tiny percentage of killers are tunnelling then it's a wasted perk slot for most survivors and most killers will never see it in play as most don't tunnel.
-
I've said numerous times on this forum that I don't see tunnelling often in my games. I kept stats on alot of my games (421 was my longest streak) and I saw a tunneller in approx 1 in every 12 games. I think for a lot of survivors it's negativity bias rearing it's head. It's why I've always said that perks should be the solution to tunnelling and not a basekit solution, because that way survivors will able to determine just how much value they get and therefore how much it actually happens. Babysitter is a good option. Also goes to show that the "tunnelling is necessary" killer crowd is a minority and it's likely a skill issue.
-
The killers I've faced have been fine mostly, just a few exceptions. Had one killer today who slugged, tunnelled, and camped (he brought a Survivor Pudding, so I assumed it was coming), and naturally someone DCd, and the two others let go on hook as soon as they were able, and I guess because I stuck it out he had me follow him to hatch. It was a weirdly wholesome end to a pretty aggressive game lol

it's not only streamers. some are just persons that play a lot, mostly killer mains.
from my own experience I can say anonymous mode will not protect against cheaters reading your name and steam id somehow.
due to the rules of this forum and the dbd subreddit you won't read much about this topic.
Oh wow that's concerning. I'd been planning to take a nice break after the event, might have to start it a bit earlier until this is all sorted
-
Only they know. Maybe they've been trying to do an escape or open exit gate daily/challenge and had a string of bad matches and were just over it? Who knows
-
It doesn't but I'm getting away with this sort of stuff (see video) way too often, so I'm not sure if most killers realize it's pretty much Quick and Quiet as well?

provides like 3 examples
Even 3 people getting falsely banned is too many. Especially if you’re a content creator whose livelihood depends on playing DbD.
he states there could be “bad apples at bhvr who take bribes to do nefarious things” with no proof
I’m not sold on the bribes to get people banned, but it’s pretty obvious to me that there are some people behind the scenes who don’t care about the integrity of the game. Every major reveal of the past few years has been leaked. That’s an inside job for sure.
Tbf it's likely someone from their consultation program leaking info. We know it's been around for a long time but it was only made public recently, and that whole false Bubba leak thing backs that up even further. I imagine when they say someone taking bribes they mean someone a lot deeper in the company, which is a bit silly
-
I hadn't heard of this. Are they somehow managing to obtain the streamers game IDs so cheating reports are automatically against the streamer?

The point is that it saves your butt 3 times for free, but if you want to continue getting more charges, you're going to need to actually have the killer's attention as opposed to constantly evading the killer and having your other teammates get all the heat and eliminated more quickly. You should be spreading hook stages.
This just benefits the killer. If they bring an aura build but a survivor has Distortion then they don't need to spend any time actually looking for them because they can just wait for the survivor to come to them instead. It's just a win win for the killer.
-
It's been messed up for awhile. At this point I just accept it's intentional.
-
It's okay! Killers may get official wall hacks but we have exciting perks to look forward to like Hardened... and Specialist... I'm sure they'll be helpful. Somehow.
-
The time it takes to activate these perks is more time for the killer though. Running around the map to find 3 unopened chests, then opening them, just to activate said BNP equivalent. Then the 60s it takes to activate Invocation. They're not giving these effects for free, they are time consuming and killers who are good with map pressure and macro gameplay can and will benefit from it. In solo queue it can just as easily throw the game for survivors because having a team mate off the main objective for an extended period of time is a massive disadvantage. Not to mention said team mate is also Broken for the rest of the game and likely to avoid interacting with the killer.

If I didn't know it was pretty much impossible to struggle as killer during this event (sure, there is the odd match - but we're talking bell curve here, and the belly of that curve is pretty chill for killer) - I'd say you're struggling on killer during the event.
Personally, I hooked through many FL blinds and pallet save attempts - not because the timing of the surv was wrong but because of how the remote hooking works. Some people say spamming the button works, I'd argue you just have to hit it once at the right time. Insta breaking the pallet is good on all pallets except god pallets, there the animation duration does slow you down a little. "Trekking" to a hook is time of the time calculation; that's a good 10-30 seconds per hook a killer saves because they don't have to move to the hook and they don't lose sight of another survivor nearby while doing so, meaning they not only spend less time hooking someone, they also start chasing again way sooner - and in the case of pick ups entirely deny picking someone up while still being able to hook. That is a massive advantage. At least I perceived it that way when playing killer. The times I went "if only remote hooking wasn't a thing you'd be back in the game right now. Alas."
The single most effective strategy survs have used that tended to get me way more often than it was supposed to was quiet mode + lightweight + lithe. I becomes really friggin difficult to track survs on some maps.
You don't even need anything other than quiet mode in my experience. I hit it as soon as I'm out of line of sight then jump in a locker. 8 times out of 10 the killer loses me. I feel like most people don't realize quiet mode also makes jumping in lockers quiet.

Love it, and congrats on graduating!

Actually, BT used to be meta and run on basically every build even though (after its initial, long-ago change) it helped your teammates and not yourself. It was a communal anti-facecamp protection - you brought it and you assumed your teammates brought it for you. DS-IW-DH-BT was the meta for a year or two after I joined.
It fell out of favor with basekit endurance, since it was no longer necessary to combat people getting whacked right off the hook. At that point, its effects were mostly outclassed by Off The Record. I doubt Babysitter will be very meta for the same reason; it's just not necessary to play the game in the way BT used to be. So I agree that much… just wanted to point out that a perk being purely altruistic doesn't necessarily mean people won't run it. #themoreyouknow
I do think one difference though re BT and Babysitter is that the killer could never be sure that BT was in play until they went for that hit. So they could still target that individual. With Babysitter it's clear off the bat (hook?) that the perk is in play, so the killer will focus instead on the unhooker. It's a stronger altruistic perk than BT ever was. So for that reason, I also don't think it will be meta. Most solo queue survivors don't even take hits for injured death hook team mates, even if they're healthy and haven't been hooked once.

Now would be a good time, too, at least if you're on Steam. The Definitive Survivor Triology, including the 2013 reboot and also Rise, Shadow, and all DLC is currently on sale for £10.91, down from £170.
I'm on PS5 but looks like the reboot is included with Playstation Plus so I know what I'm playing this weekend 😊

Maybe try using a different payment method than the one you have linked up? Or depending on what platform you're using, maybe try buying through the store? For example, if you're on the playstation you can buy the packs in the PS store (screenshot from app)

Horror-related is an understatement. In anticipation of the PTB, I went back to play the 2013 game again for a little bit. It's a horror game through and through, using anything but the most narrow and intentionally under-inclusive definition of horror. The setting, the plot, the entire feel of the game all take clear inspiration from the horror genre. And since DBD Lara is specifically taken from the 2013 game, she's a great fit.
I haven't played it but good to know! I might check it out now
