This is great Survivors not being able to pallet chain to every next loop for free will really show how carried survivor "skill" ceiling is

Devs if your listening add more deadzones between tiles for fairer gameplay

Where does the killer "skill" come into play with increased deadzones?

  • Yeah I just played against him and he was doing this to everyone lol

  • I think that's a decent suggestion. Keys need an overhaul as is (green key anyway) and this would then encourage people to use them. Only downside is that we'd probably go back to the days of killers tunnelling key holders out. But it also opens the door for more perks around keys (in the same manner as Pharmacy, Residual Manifest, etc), especially since I feel like they're struggling a bit with survivor perk ideas

Honestly, this complain sounds completely fair to me given BHVRs statements in the past.

    Thank you!

this feels like something BHVR should then make right themselves

    Exactly.

Great points and exactly the kind of thing I'm suggesting.

    as these are digital assets

Yeah, since these are digital assets, there's no overhead cost for BHVR to eat in terms of physical resources. Giving away original non-licensed content is a conceptual loss, not a physical loss of money and product.

Since Stranger Things is back, I'm not even upset at the idea of licensed chapters needing to be repurchased. That was mentioned as a possibility in BHVR's very first cross-progression announcement. But original non-licensed chapters? Those are under BHVR's full control.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3761544#Comment_3761544

Yeah I've been waiting for ages to get all my stuff from Switch, but part of me kind of anticipated this.

I anticipated that no console DLC chapters would transfer, or at least no licensed DLC chapters. I did not expect that Switch, the only console that was promised to have its DLC transfer with cross-progression, would be the only platform to not get it at all.

Any chance a dev can confirm if cosmetics for DLC characters will transfer across?

I've asked in other threads if cosmetics transfer and if so which ones. One was even a direct response to a community manager. There's been no answer. If cosmetics don't transfer, then that's really bad. BHVR needs to be clearer on the specifics about cross-progression, because "shared DLC" is as ambiguous as they could possibly be.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3761455#Comment_3761455

I personally have decided to completely stop playing and purchasing DLC until an announcement from both companies are made.

I'm definitely not buying DLC on a platform that can't share it. My friend today went out for a PlayStation card so they could get Lara Croft. "Would you like me to pick you up a Switch card?" I very quickly responded "No."

(And then I told him about the cross-progression update, and he too is quite upset. He has, sitting next to me, watched me struggle through the low fps and all the other performance issues while I waited for cross-progression, and he feels bad it's gone this way. If we'd known, we may or may not have purchased DbD on a different platform, but we definitely would not have bought it on Switch. And that's why I'm livid, because BHVR went back on statements that greatly influenced people's purchases, and that's something companies aren't supposed to do.)

Fingers crossed we at least get our cosmetics. If they could throw us that bone it would hurt a bit less lol

"we'd known, we may or may not have purchased DbD on a different platform, but we definitely would not have bought it on Switch."

The crazy thing for me is that I had the PS5 sitting there for ages while I played on Switch. I'd seen the updates about Switch cross progression, and that played into my decision to delay buying it on PS5. Really bummed I delayed and kept putting the money into Switch instead of just switching to PS5 immediately. Once I switched, I couldn't go back because the Switch performance is so poor in comparison. I said not long ago that this game wasn't made to be played on Switch in any capacity.

  • At this point it must be intentional. People had alot to say about them on Haddonfield and we still got more in Forbidden Ruins. They're designed for you to take a hit or go down. It's incredibly off putting.

  • Yeah I've been waiting for ages to get all my stuff from Switch, but part of me kind of anticipated this. It's never been easy for Switch players so I didn't expect this to be either.

Any chance a dev can confirm if cosmetics for DLC characters will transfer across? Or if that all falls under the DLC umbrella. Thanks!

Edit: also did they say how we can link our Switch accounts? Might have missed it

He's got 3k hours and complains about how stressful killer is. To me, that means he knows what he's talking about. Most people who post complain about things like, "The killer's able to find me, and that's unfair.".

I do agree OP has been playing long enough and has enough hours to know what theyre talking about, but it's not an unreasonable line of inquiry. They've said they do fine with the killers they main (ie the ones they put most of their time into), which is what prompted my question. It's not unreasonable to assume that maybe the ones they're struggling with are ones they haven't invested as much time into learning. Someone who spends 3k hours learning to play 1 killer, for example, will likely be better at that killer than someone with 3k hours who plays every killer. I wasn't trying to imply OP was new to the game or something - I've seen them around the forum long enough to know they're not.

Resilience is Fired-Up for survivors, a perk that will undoubtedly provides benefits when needed. Survivors rely on perks such as this to have an edge during chases, activating when a 9% difference is important. Remaining injured to take advantage of these benefits goes both ways as any surprise visit from the killer can render this perk useless, and players should be rewarded for taking that risk to crank out gens faster.

tldr; I'd focus more on playing around/building around gen defense before making a boogeyman out of a 9% boost.

Agree completely. Injured survivors are easier to find, and tend to have shorter chases. It's hardly a bad thing for killers, and is risky for survivors.

  • I don't run Distortion but I can't say I notice Distortion using team mates getting any better outcomes than I do. I've heard for a long time that it means I'll be targeted over them but can't say that has been my experience at all. Plenty of killers know how to track survivors without relying on aura reads I think

  • We definitely need more creature killers so I'd be down. Also Maximus, he's my favourite.

  • It's an early slowdown perk, and if you manage to get a down before a gen pops then it brought you valued time. One person is now on hook, so at least one other survivor has to now ignore a gen in favour of unhooking and healing. Presumably in that time you've managed to chase another off a gen and engaged them in chase, meaning only one person is now on a gen. That's an ideal situation. You shouldn't have left the injured person.

  • We've had a couple bonus XP weeks, plus shard bonuses, plus all the time people would have put in over the event.... I wonder if alot of people completed the current Rift quite early and that's why we're getting the next one straight up? I know I finished it really fast when usually I'll complete it a week or so before it ends.

  • "If the developers want killers to focus more on chases, why are more and more elements being added to the game that affect the speed of generators?"

Have they outright said that, though? That they want killers to focus on chase over gens? If they're releasing more perks to help in chase then perhaps it's more to do with them wanting to provide more options than anything else. Particularly to those who feel they are weakest in chase and have little issue with gen pressure.

  • Not excited no, because I find her perks disappointing and two are just time wasters. Solo queue is gonna be rough even more so for the next couple weeks with people messing with chests and every killer using WA + Franklin's. So yeah, not excited.

  • How many hours do you have and how many killers do you spread your time across? I only ask because it can take time commitment for alot of people to master just one killer and you've listed several straight off the bat that you play. I honestly mean this in a purely constructive way, perhaps you're still learning to play these killers efficiently?

  • UMINOHI2024 - 300k. Handy with new chapter on the horizon.

  • I think it's because they plan their updates out long term. They have limited bandwidth per update, so they make sure to make the most of it and always have something in the works. They may update a killer, but if it needs fine tuning they may not have the bandwidth for the fine tuning for a number of months. It's why problematic perks take awhile to get addressed as well. Unanticipated changes have to be squeezed in basically.

I don’t think any version of haddon had any little bit of it being killer sided. The current one should stay.

The entire middle of the map (street) was a deadzone before this recent update...

  • Maybe we can get another Silent Hill chapter with a Lakeside Amusement Park map

  • If you're having bad internet then I wouldn't play at all. Because as you're seeing, it's just gonna keep building up. My internet is having disruptions at the moment, likely weather related, so I'm not loading up any games.

  • Honestly don't bother wasting your time. I spent like 30 minutes about a month ago getting my recording uploaded and a report filled out and nada since, not even an ingame notification that my report was looked at.

  • A Vecna gave it to me. Killed everyone else but let me leave to get the achievement. I've heard alot of people got it that way. • I won't take your forgiveness lightly. I will boop as many Pigs as allowed in repentance 👉 🐖

  • Terrible. Old Haddonfield was killer sided outdoors and survivor sided indoors. They rightfully reworked the indoors to be more killer friendly, but the outdoors are (imo) even worse for survivors. Dead zones and ridiculous edge map tiles. I'm surprised the devs were happy enough to release it in that state.

  • I just don't bring an item at all. Even dropping in a corner doesn't help as I've had team mates obviously not know I've dropped an item there and been found out, and it happened to me in turn at least one time I know of on an indoor map. Wondered how the killer knew i was there, and ran around the corner to see the dropped item. I found 9/10 times if there's 3 or less items the killer doesn't tend to bring it, so that works for me.

The build is mainly for avoiding chases. If your someone like me that isn't the best at looping then it's great for staying stealthy, if you do manage to get into chase, the build helps you a lot with holding W, most of the time the killer mindgames himself at a loop, Lightweight and Lightfooted makes you untrackable especially in indoor maps, Low Profile is mainly for saving the team, especially against slugging killers, or if your in endgame.

If you prefer a more relaxed match, not many chases, while remaining useful than I recommend this build!

Thanks for that, I'll give it a go next time I play. Sometimes (usually for escape dailies and challenges) I like to go under the radar without being simultaneously useless lol it seems like a decent build for that

  • "I (killer) win alot because survivors are just bad at the game" is definitely something I see alot of, you're right about that. There are alot of folk who ignore that the game is literally designed to give them an advantage.

Ultimately, how strong a killer is impacts my enjoyment of the game very little. For example, I die most of the time to decent Nurses or Blights, but I still don't mind going against either one. I actually really enjoy those games.

What they should be overhauling is matchmaking and seeing if that makes the game feel better in general for survivor. I suspect though that matchmaking is entwined with kill and escape rates - ie there's a mix of skill levels in solo games specifically as a means of maintaining the kill rate. Especially as they're currently doing killer reworks with a goal of making them easier to use. This could push some MMRs high quite fast and leave them unable to compete if solo teams were all the same skill level, so having some lower skill survivors in there helps. But it makes the survivor experience miserable at times.

The singu thing is different tho. I agree not everyone is going to enjoy every killer and it's not the devs job to make killers be liked by everyone. The issue here tho comes down to how a killer feels with the controls you are given. Say a PS5 player really loves Singu and wants to learn them and play them but thanks to the poor controls on the controller for this killer that player is forced to play them with inferior unfun controls or just give up on the killer they want to play. Its not fair to this player to be put in that situation. It has nothing to do with health issues like you with nurse or if someone enjoys the killer or not. Take me for exp I HATE Hillbilly but I don't want him changed or reworked in a way where I enjoy him. If the only reason I cant enjoy a killer comes to poor controls on the input device Im forced to play on then Im going to be upset. Honestly, all devs could do is just add K&M support to console versions of the game and this discussion would be done with but dev has said they don't want to do that so we need them to think and offer other ways to make console players' lives better. We shouldn't gatekeep a killer just because PC players don't want their "skill expression" lowered. There have been a lot of good suggestions put out there like adding the aim asst to an addon or making something just for console players that doesn't affect PC players. Toystory3monky as far as I have seen wants the killer to say just the way he is just bc he doesn't want his fun to affect and would rather tell others "To bad go play something else"

No one is saying singu needs to be completely changed so everyone will like him, we just saying that console players need something to help them enjoy the killer more on the input they are forced to use.

I agree that K&M support is the best option, and never say never on that front regardless of what the devs say now.

I'm a console player and I recognize the limitations. But a PC player's feedback that it feels like the killer is now an AI is also valid. I think just like I recognize swfs have an advantage over solos, and M1 killers are at a disadvantage compared to M2 killers, I just accept that us console players will have a harder time than PC players.

I'm not sure if you've ever played this game on the Switch, but my biggest issue was camera sensitivity. 100% camera sensitivity on Switch is probably the equivalent to 50% camera sensitivity on the PS5 (i play on 100% sensitivity on PS5). I apologise in advance to all the other Switch players but this game was not made for the Switch. It's playable, sure, but overall performance is sub-par in comparison. It's great that it's an option but it will always have limitations compared to PS5. And both will always have limitations compared to PC.

I'll add that I don't actually care either way whether the camera auto aim goes or stays. I love Singularity, so seeing more of them would be a plus in my book. Adding as a rare add on would work, I agree.

I don't think killer mains aren't capable of differentiate suicide and left on hook, most killer players will always check when a survivor has been rescued, there is far too much difference in immediately trying to self unhook and left to second stage without anything they can do

Those were just the examples I used specifically about being left on hook. My comments about team mates were in general. A survivor in chase who doesn't see a single team mate touch a gen before they go down, or a survivor sitting on a gen watching their team mates just open chests, do totems, or (as in one of my examples) having to do a gen and then run to help a hooked team mate who is about to die, are going to be pretty unhappy to remain in that game. Team mates who are healthy yet won't take a hit or aggro. Versing Pinhead and having to constantly do the box and/or be in chase, then put up with the chain hunt in chase, because no team mates want to touch the box. Those are more examples. My point is that you can't see what survivors see as killer.

  • @CountOfTheFog said:

The situation is out of control. If you play SoloQ or Killer, it's the same bizarre behavior of giving up or at the start of the trial the Survivors drop their item and point to a hook. Wild times indeed. I became so miserable in SoloQ that I switched exclusively to Killer and I'm just as frustrated.

For me it's being left on hook, or my team mates being left. I'll be across the map from the hooked person and the only one on a gen, and since I can see on the HUD the other two survivors aren't doing anything ill assume one of them is going for an unhook but nope. Person goes to second stage until I get there to unhook them. Then it's the same for me. The killer will be chasing another survivor and the other two survivors will just be standing around. No one comes until I hit second stage. If it's matchmaking or what, I don't know. Too many Killer mains think people are letting go because of them but I promise it's because of their team mates most of the time.

  • Those who aren't familiar with looking behind them in chase will probably struggle against him. That's how i see it anyway

  • The entire state of survivor is terrible right now. I havent played since the event ended and have zero plans to. I'll play a game of 2v8 because I imagine there will be a badge or banner reward, but then I'll just keep waiting for the situation to improve.

some characters are simply more mechanically challenging bc of their powers specifics and it's part of their learning curve.

devs should`ve kept autoaim as a high rarity addon with downsides and called it a day, imo, but i guess they didnt want to deal with the next step of people complaining about accessibility locked behind an addon.

im personally glad they, hopefully, settled on not adding it. yeah, it sucks for some players, they still have many other killers they can learn and play. as M&K player I'd rather have something to express particular M&K skills.

A killer for everyone, not every killer for everyone.

"A killer for everyone, not every killer for everyone"

I actually like this sentiment, and agree. I'd love to put hours into Nurse but she gives me motion sickness, so that's a no go. But there's plenty of other killers I can play if I want (at the moment I just stick to Demo or Wraith). I think content creators, who play every killer because it's literally how they make their living, make a alot of players feel like they too need to play every killer. But I remember one of the devs (think it was Peanits) saying that they don't expect players to play every killer. They expect people to find the ones they're comfortable with and to fall back on those. Probably why they listened to player feedback on the camera auto aim.

I learned to play Demo on the Nintendo Switch, which was hard but i stuck with it. Was so much easier once I got a PS5. And End Transmission has been my favourite original chapter to date, I absolutely love Singularity, but he's too difficult for me on PS5 and I'm okay with that. I'm sure I could put in the hours and become adequate but I cbf lmao

  • I don't bring them outside of events. I swear BPS are cursed. I know if I bring one it'll be a particularly bad game so I don't lol

  • I don't think so. My thinking comes just from looking at the decision making over the past 12 months and some of the answers given in the AMAs and interviews. Also looking at recent new survivor perks, where most are pretty much only applicable in niche situations or have too many restrictions to bother with, it seems they're pretty content with where survivor gameplay is at and aren't looking to breathe new life into it.

The recent perk reworks are decent at least, but we don't know if they'll be going ahead yet so I'll reserve judgement on that. I feel those are really only happening though because they feel they won't make too much waves at this point in time in the game (eg Iron Will back to 100% at a time where there are a multitude of aura/screaming/info perks for killers, so they're happy to throw us that bone).

Keep Iron Will and Lightweight, but replace Premonition with Lightfooted, and also put on Low Profile.

You basically leave zero trace, and if you are in a situation where the killer decides to slug for the 4k, 90 seconds of no scratch marks from Low Profile can really save matches at points, it's a situational but fun build to run that I really enjoy.

I've considered trying a similar build but since Iron Will and Lightfooted don't work at the same time, I feel like you're just exchanging one sound for another so would still be pretty trackable. Do you find you have a good rate of escaping, or at least extending, chase? I prefer Overcome + Lucky Break + Bite the Bullet + Self Care for the same sort of effect but am always looking for new builds

Lets go!!! The worst is when 3/4 survivors boop and then the last one just absolutely REFUSES to boop

One game that still haunts me. I was the last survivor and Piggy intercepted me trying to open the gate. She let me do it, and I bobbed once to thank her, then ran out. Just before I exited I looked around and she was crouching forward, clearly waiting for a boop. I tried to halt but it was too late. I could see her shaking her head sadly at the ground as my character left. I'm console so couldn't apologise in endgame. She let me leave but I denied her a boop.
