400% is not that much really good match you earn probably 120-150K with it. But on killer you earn easily 100K+ when 100% bonus and using cake and if someone brings also cake you earn easily even more. It's not that much more either what I earned with survivor before with 100% bonus and cake. Also the fact someone usually brings cake too.

400% is good when the matches are shorter than standard ones, which these ones are. So it adds up really fast when I wanna play for an hour here and there. I can fit more 2v8 games in that time than regular. I've gone back to normal mode now though, had a 2v8 game yesterday that made me decide 400% wasn't worth it though lol I think everyone has a breaking point no matter the incentive

  • We're eating good lately

  • For me it's Wraith. He's been in 9/10 games and pretty much all will immediately zoom across map to meet me while getting uncaged. I've gone back to normal mode now anyway so finally getting some variety.

  • I went against a bot Huntress. I didn't even know there was a Huntress bot available, but she was chasing me and randomly stopped and I thought she was DCing. So I stopped and waited and then she came back but didn't see me and ran off. Saw post game that it was a bot so I guess the person did actually DC.

  • I don't think it matters. Ultimately it comes down to the strength of your team. You can be a cracked survivor but it matters little if everyone else is a potato. You can be a cracked killer but it matters little if the other killer is a baby.

I stand by with what Mandy said about it though. She said It wouldn't split the queue times ultimately in the long run either, and that we have more than enough players to play the game and regular matches. I feel like we will be good to go.

I remember her saying that, but it was with regard to earlier modes that only needed 4 survivors and 1 killer. This mode is completely different in that 1 - it gives friends a chance to play killer together, so those that would usually swf are now kwf, and 2 - you need 8 survivors, so the equivalent of two standard games is now required for one 2v8 game.

  • @MechWarrior3 said:

There are over 60 million active players. It would be just fine. Queue times would even out anyways. Not to mention DBD gets new players everyday that join the game.

There's not 60 million active players. The announcement was 60 million people have played the game since it started 8 years ago (so includes folks who played it once and never again, and also those with multiple platform accounts).

Player count on Steam has already dropped back down to pre-2v8 levels, and did so within 48 hours of the mode's release (went from 50k to 100k to now back to 50k). So it's more likely that queues would be split, which I think is what we are seeing now (killer queues are apparently long in both normal and 2v8 mode). What the mode looks like in its first week isn't what it would be long term as the novelty wears off even more.

Edit: oh and we just had a free play weekend too, so again there's more people playing than usual and queues are still bad.

  • Escapist class have built in sprint burst. They can also give another survivor a speedboost if nearby when you're in chase.

I’ve seen killers tunnel and try to proxy camp. They’re definitely starting to bring that over. I was just tunneled out by a Wraith who had even gone to attack other people then left them to pursue me… across the map. After proxying my cage. Lol

Oh tunnelling and proxy camping are absolutely happening now. You play enough and you get a general idea of where the survivor has been caged on the opposite side. Billy and Wraith in particular are zooming directly across the map to the caged survivor. I see alot of transporting cages happening when playing against Billy in particular too.

The first couple days were chaotic but today I've seen the strategies emerging. It's been alot harder to escape today than it has been the last couple days. Also got my first slugging team today which just resulted in team mates DCing... imagine sitting through long killer queues just to play with bots lol

  • This is getting beyond a joke. This map is unplayable.

Massive survivor shortage? I am watching top streamers with thousands of viewers and the majority of survivors escape every match. Maybe yours is a l2p issue

Have you actually played it or are you just basing your opinion on the games being played by folks who literally play for a living? I

  • @bornagain234 said:

It will be at some point. The numbers of people playing are almost higher than ever.

Have you seen the drop though? All of the people who jumped on to try it dropped it immediately. I think that was faster than the drop from Lights Out mode, which the devs have said was pretty much a failure. Kind of surprised tbh.

    Edit: math is hard

I see, well I played a lot of it myself but hey I am fully aware that I am not the player base and my preference is subjective.

Personally I don't think I will be playing much if any more of this particular event since I am a survivor main these days (killer stresses me out too much) and it feels very killer sided.

Yeah I'm literally only playing for the bp otherwise I'd be in normal mode. Doing my part to help the killer queues but I need adequate compensation lol

  • Yeah it's been like this for a few days. I thought maybe it was my net since we've been having some wild weather here but apparently not

Idk, I play on console and while I’m no cracked Huntress, I can still hit survivors consistently in my matches. I’m mot like sniping them, though. She’s probably easier to play on PC but either way her hatchet hitbox is pretty forgiving.

Most of my games against Huntress consist of me repeatedly yelling "that hit!??" at my TV lol

  • I don't think it ultimately matters. Players have been wanting to kill with friends for awhile now and this simply gives them that chance. The rest of us get 400% bp in compensation to let them. I'm not putting much thought into it beyond that.

  • @MaTtRoSiTy said:

It never will be permanent anyway

Lights Out was great, I enjoyed it and it brought me back after months of not playing. If you didn't enjoy it then that is totally fine but not everyone shares that opinion.

I do not like this current mode, it is too killer sided and with MMR off I am tired of being matched with survivors who are absolutely clueless

Mathieu Cote pretty much said Lights Out was not a success, that might be what I_CAME is referring to. He said they were surprised at how quickly everyone returned to the standard game after trying the mode.

  • @TieBreaker said:

Does the BP bonus really make that much of a difference? Unless you are spending it constantly, it builds up pretty quick. I can't imagine many people are willing to play a mode or killer that they don't really enjoy, just so they can earn more BP.

I'm currently getting Zarina to P100 so the incentive is actually a motivation for me. To add to that, I find the matches are shorter than standard ones and its not hard to make decent bp (it's very hard to be sacrificed with less than 15k bp in my experience). So I can fit more 2v8 games into a spare hour than I could normal games, and I'm walking away with more bp in that hour than I did playing the anniversary event.

  • I always play Medic! Only time I won't is if there's 2 other Medics already, then ill switch to a role that's needed. I had played a game where I changed to Scout because there were 3 medics, and yet I spent the entire time unhooking and healing because none of the Medics would. They have the heal speed yet I don't know what they were doing. The Guide role is the one I see lacking the most tbh. Escapist is most popular.

  • I doubt this will be permanent so I wouldn't worry about that

  • I only had one ad for TCOFS and it hasn't popped up again since that first time. It didn't bother me at all but if you're repeatedly getting it then yeah that would be annoying.

I don’t know if anyone else is having this problem but my brain pretty much shuts off and I play super bad in this mode

I said in another thread but for me it's sensory overload. The combined never ending terror radiuses, the screams, trying to navigate and understand all the other sound cues, the auras, etc. It can be overwhelming.

  • Evading the pincer move does feel good ngl lol

So that's like a gen and a little more worth of time with movement all for basically no gain? yeah that's throwing without doubt, it's always been throwing, just that survivor was vastly stronger side

It's a gen and a little more if every totem is cleansed (which it never is unless the killer has Plaything + Pentimento, which I guess needs to be nerfed since it's a guaranteed win combo causing survivors to throw?) and every chest is opened. We also literally just had a survivor chapter where 2/3 new perks involve doing these non-legitimate objectives. I'd have no issue with BHVR removing those conditions, I guess they really are killer perks in disguise?

  • @Neaxolotl said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3768533#Comment_3768533

Probably because if survivors can win while wasting time for those useless objectives, killers literally has zero chances against anyone who is playing serious

Those things really aren't legitimate side objectives to begin with

It takes, what, 10s to open a chest and 14s to cleanse a totem. And there's only 5 of each. Yet it's now considered essentially game throwing to do those things.

  • As someone who is willing to put up with 2v8 for the bp, yes please. Come on BHVR....

    images - 2024-07-27T094621.713.jpeg

    Please and thank you ☺️

  • I think a better question would be why should opening chests and cleansing totems - legitimate side objectives - risk throwing the game? When I started playing you could do those things without issue or affecting your chances of escape. Now there's a degree of guilt that you'll cost your team the game if you do them. It shouldn't be 'glue yourself to a gen or it's over' and yet that's how the game currently feels.

But yes, my 2v8 games have been the same. Maybe 2-3 people on a gen and the rest idk.

  • So after playing way way too many games, it definitely isn't survivor sided. I've had one game with an 8 escape and that's cos the killers clearly let us go (everyone was on death hook and they just kept smacking everyone but not chasing at that point) and at least 4 games ending in 8 kills (those are the ones i saw, some i moved on to next game so that number could be higher). The rest have been a mix of deaths and escapes, typically that favour the killer but a couple draws in there too. The games play out the same as my typical solo q games to be honest, just on a larger scale. A few gens will pop early, then they just slow down completely. With 8 people in a game it's crazy how there's probably only 2 people on a gen at any given time. Thankfully I just care about the 400% bp incentive so as long as I get some bp I'm happy lol

  • Yeah you'll get the shirts. If your PS account is linked to your BHVR account then you shouldn't have any issues

  • They probably want the survivors over in the 2v8 mode more this week because there are killer challenges in the event Tome with a limited time to complete them

  • Not gonna lie, I've quite enjoyed the obvious surprise from those trying to camp when the cage moves lol they stop and just stare like 'huh??'

  • @LordGlint said:

Just had a match where survivors kept flleing through the wall to heal up, then would jump off the edge if the killer figured out where they went...

If it was on Azarovs then the map is crazy bugged. You can run through the walls and over stuff. Pallets floating in mid air and invisible walls everywhere.

  • Then don't play killer?

  • I hope the devs give us the 8v2 kill rate stats when this is over because I'm positive Huntress will have the highest. I'm getting barely any distance after getting hit.

  • 400% bp incentive on survivor, I'll tolerate anything for that lol

just so you know, 100k on day 1 of heavily anticipated gamemode is not a metric of it being good or well designed, etc by any means.

it just means that lots of people anticipated that silly thing for years bc it's the most obvious idea for alternative gamemode people had for years.

obviously it's going to attract lots of people on day 1 it's playable.

Yup. I'm honestly only playing cos it's 400% bp incentive. If this was permanent I'd stick to normal mode. 2v8 is too chaotic and overstimulating for me. The incentive is the only reason I'm tolerating it.

  • I've just been playing whatever role is lacking in the team

  • One thing I've noticed is people aren't playing to the strengths of their role. If you pick Guide then stick to gens so others can see you and join.

  • I went against a Huntress bot, I'm assuming the killer lost connection because they were easily winning. Didn't seem to have wall hacks and honestly I didn't even realize until post game that it was a bot.

  • It's giving me sensory overload tbh. I finished the Tome and got a horrible migraine. I'm sticking to normal mode. I wonder if others are experiencing the same? It could be putting people off

  • Tried one game and it was unplayable. I was rubberbanding all over the place, even into and on top of things. Couldn't run from the killers, I'd just be running in place rubberbanding. Will try again tomorrow

  • Glad you at least got to play. One game and I couldn't run from the killers because I kept rubberbanding back into them. Not to mention all the bugs...

That last one was me getting stuck in a freezer somehow

  • Lol agree to disagree…

  • For killer perks in the Shrine but I have pretty much every perk that I want currently so I spent some on a cosmetic the other day

  • Nope. Better off just waiting for the DLC you want to go on sale. There's half price sales scattered throughout the year.

  • Adrenaline got nerfed so that's been left alone now. I think the main complaints seem to centre around Distortion and Windows of Opportunity on the killer side, and Weave Attunement on the survivor side. With the Unknown, you can dispell his hallucinations to stop him being able to teleport, and also looking directly at him will slowly remove weakness. I don't mind going against him. Also, welcome back.

  • Just don't engage in it. Honestly, it's the only way to stop it bothering you because it'll never stop unfortunately.

This is 💯 true. I'm a Bloodpoints main. I play whichever side has the incentive. It helps me understand both sides and get better at both sides. I've expanded my Killers that I'm playing over the anniversary. Having a lot of fun.

I don't play at night and that's when killer switches to 100% incentive on my end. Usually around 9.30pm. I usually play from 10am to midday and it's always survivor 100% so that's what I tend to stick with. I'd play killer more if the incentive was there during the day but at the moment it's really only the Tome/Rift that incentivizes me.

  • Eh I'll still play it. Bugs don't bother me much, especially if they're funny

  • It didn't have a low usage rate in my games. I think it's a better perk now. Opening a locker and knowing where everyone is in your vicinity every 30s is probably one of the easiest high value perks this game has had. Required zero thought. I used Calm Spirit for a time when everyone and their mum had UW and I was sick of the screaming, and I'd watch killers walk right past me. Even a few times while I was on a gen they'd walk on by because they were so used to finding people with that perk. Imagine relying on it so much that you forget what it's like to patrol a gen.

  • I believe you need to update both
