You're trolling at this point, hope the mods can actually see that. Get over yourself.

You're getting a bit unreasonably upset at the person you're replying to. As someone who grew up a massive Harry Potter fan, I've heard consistently over the years just how financially supporting the license is funding JKRs anti-trans crusade. Is it really surprising that some people feel the same about Cawthon, even if you don't? If they feel this collab helps fund anti-lgbtq+ sentiment, they're valid to feel that way. That doesn't make them a troll.

  • I believe it's a glitch

  • I will say it's very hypocritical, but we all know money talks at the end of the day. I'll bet there's very few people who could look at a huge amount of incoming cash and not drop their values in exchange. It wasn't that long ago that a content creator was dropped from a certain program for (accidentally, apparently) liking an anti-lgbtq post on their YT video. It's very easy to take a stand when you have nothing to lose. In this case, BHVR stand to gain alot.

What a bizarre and random time to make this announcement.

Not really. Alot of FNAF fans who don't play DBD will start doing so now that they've seen the announcement. Just the announcement alone will get them more players. Maybe they're hoping they'll pick up and enjoy some of the other killers so the games aren't all just Springtrap once the chapter rolls out. Wishful thinking anyway.

  • Disappointed tbh. My kids are 9 and 7 and absolutely love FNAF. I'm gonna reserve judgement on the actual content but I really really hope we aren't going to have a bunch of kids coming to the game (we all know the 18+ rating means nothing, alot of parents let their kids play whatever they want. Including FNAF). My kids watch me play DBD all the time, and my 9yo is a huge Stranger Things fan so loves Demo and always asks to play DBD (no way lol).

  • I very much doubt it. The point of Distortion is to hide your aura and I can't see that changing. I'm pretty sure the only killer aura reading perks out at the time Distortion was released was Nurses Calling. So why, when we now have several aura reading perks, would it suddenly stop hiding your aura? It's the only counter to LP as well.

  • Someone actually shared a pretty funny video on Reddit I believe it was, where a survivor was tbagging on top of hatch at a Huntress. The Huntress downed him with a hatchet and then the survivor couldn't get the crawl into hatch option to work because it just kept showing recover. So the Huntress had time to come over and shut it. It cracked me up ngl. It's not funny when it happens to me of course but situations like that, for sure lol

This change is kinda amusing because amount of game hours via Steam is a far more better indicator of when to lobby dodge.

Someone can have a P1 Claudette but if they're rocking 8k hours in DBD, that's a sign that matchmaking is borked.

I don't think anyone imagines lobby dodging will be completely eliminated. I think as long as they reduce the amount that it happens it may be enough to improve matchmaking to a higher degree.

  • @danielmaster87 said:

It's to protect the most fragile among us, who don't need to be catered to at all. If they put half as much energy into balancing well...

They can put as much effort as they like into balancing but it doesn't mean squat if killers are lobby dodging.

I'm actually amazed there is so much division amongst the playerbase when it comes to this. We all agree matchmaking barely works, we all agree baby killers shouldn't be going against experienced survivors, and baby survivors shouldn't be going against experienced killers, and now we have a solution that may improve on all that, and people are unhappy. The only people I can imagine who would genuinely be unhappy are those killers who purposely seek out weaker opponents for a power trip.

  • Why should we have to stay any longer in a game that is over? The killer has won, regardless of if last person has gotten the hatch. We just want to move onto the next round instead of wasting our own time. I'd rather leave the killer and last survivor to it then hang around longer then necessary

  • Yeah I have zero energy when I load into this map. I just go through the motions until I die. I consider it a loss as soon as I load in. If I escape then it's just a pleasant surprise (though I'm yet to escape on this map since the rework so I'm still waiting for that nice surprise)

  • Map reworks are hard when it comes to killers though. Less clutter means stealth killers struggle, more clutter means ranged killers suffer. I don't think anything they can do will make things perfect for all killers. I'd say maybe make certain maps accommodating for stealth, others for ranged, etc, but even then there's a huge push for the devs to get rid of map offerings so it all comes down to RNG anyway

  • Yeah I was thinking this too lol like okay, they wanna nerf both fine, but why is the only real counter to WA copping it first?

  • Demogorgon. He is more likely to kill me immediately while the Xenomorph will keep me alive to use my body as an incubator. No thanks lol

  • I've never BMd in my life but have had it done plenty of times to me. I just assume it's a child playing and move on. I don't do anything or say anything.

BHVR should look at the stats of the top 20 survivor perks, to see if Distortion has a disproportionally high escape rate via hatch, because that would show that too many Distortion users are excessively hiding and waiting for their teammates to die, so they can try to get hatch. Distortion is helping enable an unhealthy playstyle.

As I mentioned before, players can still get value out of Distortion even if tokens can't be recharged… It's just that players wouldn't be able to excessively hide for large portions of the game.

This perspective acts like aura reading perks are a given though. There are plenty of killers who don't use a single aura reading perk and therefore Distortion does nothing and its users are on equal footing with their team mates. A killer who feels they can only find survivors using aura reading perks will of course see Distortion users as selfish and unhealthy for the game. That doesn't mean they are. If a high proportion of Distortion users are getting hatch then perhaps it says more about the strength and abundance of aura reading perks than anything else.

I read about "Finisher Mori" and my heart sank. The idea was terrible before and the Offerings are absolutely fine as is.

Regrettably, I don't see how this change can be anything but negative, with the exception of Cypress Mori becoming basekit with no other changes.

Same. I'm bummed they're still so insistent on the Finisher Mori considering reception to it has been lukewarm at best... but I think we all know moris are likely coming to the Store so it's coming whether we like it or not

  • I don't think many would disagree with you on SM. Think we all know what's coming her way

This is a very confusing roadmap honestly. Why not just put everything on the roadmap so we know what to expect and not have everyone spreading misinformation due to confusion.

Adding ‘Perk Update’ to the roadmap wouldn’t make it that much bigger but still be more clear that it’s still happening.

Tbf, they've put things on roadmaps in the past that didn't eventuate and they've been drilled by the players about it. I'd say stuff that is tentatively planned doesn't get listed just in case it's not finalised in time.

It's really just the 400% BP incentive

All the survivors are going to the game mode that's going to shower them in BP

Yup. 2v8 is really just a bloodpoint farming event for most survivors.

They'll regret it when their numbers drop after this event is over. Regular dbd is boring to me now and I probably won't play anymore once it's done

The numbers already dropped to pre-2v8 levels within 48 hours of 2v8 being released. It was at 50k before the event started, I'm guessing from the anniversary and Lara Croft.

Didn´t know if this was already so or they changed it due to the wait times.

    But thats great!

They changed it before it unlocked, you could actually view page 2 already last week. On the event info page, when you clicked to go to the event tome it took you to the yet to be unlocked page 2 for some reason

  • I don't think it needs nerfing personally, and I believe most killer mains are being disingenuous when they say it needs nerfing to eliminate selfishness. What they really mean is their full aura build isn't working for them. I've played for a number of years and have seen no correlation between Distortion and useless or selfish team mates. They're useless and/or selfish regardless.

On that note, if the devs believe it needs to be done then I just hope that they continue to give survivors more options to counter aura perks and add ons in return. Enough with perks that require sending players on side quests to get minimal value in niche situations. Give us useful stuff. Distortion is the only one that counters Lethal Pursuer, which is one of the most used killer perks. If they want Distortion used less then give other options.

  • More likely they can't say anything until it's all approved by the license holders. They have to give final approval to my understanding

  • I had the same issue in one game with a Huntress and Wraith. The hill was in the middle and surrounding by a close knit bunch of gens. Huntress just stood on the hill and I'm guessing she was on comms with Wraith because he knew where to go wherever survivors tried to do gens. Everyone would take a hit then run to the safe section of map to heal. They wouldn't chase. The game just dragged.

  • Killers don't get to show their prestige off until endgame and no one seems to have an issue with that. It'll be no different for survivors. If the devs have determined that matchmaking can improve by hiding prestige in pre-game then I'm not sure why they wouldn't implement this. Or why people would complain about it tbh. We all know matchmaking is an issue and we potentially have a means of improving it now.

Game quality is, imo, more important than bragging rights.

  • Yeah I had a couple today while doing the new challenges. I just report and move on. Not much else we can do unfortunately

  • @ObsidianButterfly said:

Lobby dodging is just a symptom of much larger problem.

Maybe they should be focused on fixing the disease instead of just treating the symptoms.

What would you suggest is the fix to people lobby dodging for easier games?

If matchmaking is the issue, then hiding prestige should theoretically help fix that because less lobby dodging means more accurate matchmaking. It'll mean less experienced killers stomping baby survivors, and less baby killers being landed with experienced swfs.

  • Why is it a skill issue for survivors, but not a skill issue for a killer to "need to secure stages to win from time to time" by camping? I'd argue that if you need to hover around a hook then that's also a skill issue

  • @Firellius said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3771849#Comment_3771849

While you temporarily take one Survivor out of the game, there's really not much difference at all whether you unhook at one second or 59. The amount of progression you get as a killer is the same.

Instead of a Survivor being pressured by needing to unhook, they can put progress into a generator, and THEN go for an unhook. That way you're still making extra progress towards the objective, without the killer getting any extra progress.

Just to try and illustrate this a little bit…

1 survivor on hook for 70 seconds = 0 charges

    1 survivor in chase = 0 charges

1 survivor on gen for 70 seconds = 70 charges

1 survivor on gen for 60 seconds and then unhooking for 10 = 60 charges

    This totals 130 charges.

Conversely, with an immediate rescue, there'll be

1 survivor on hook for 10 seconds, then on gen for 60 = 60 charges

    1 survivor in chase = 0 charges

1 survivor on gen for 70 seconds = 70 charges

1 survivor unhooking for 10 seconds, then going on gen for 60 seconds = 60 charges

    This totals 190 charges.

Now, the numbers are all guesstimations, of course, but this is to illustrate how much more efficient it is for survivors to pull survivors off hooks earlier, rather than later. These extra ten seconds are not going to make a meaningful difference to a non-camping killer.

It's crazy to me that you have to break it down so simply for people to understand lol good post

A survivor on hook is, as someone else said, essentially in time out leaving the team a 3v1. It's always in the team's best interest to get someone off hook and back in the game. I've been a survivor main for 4 years and this is just common sense knowledge. Unhook me and I'm back on a gen immediately. Leave me on hook and the objective doesn't get furthered.

Those who don't camp won't feel this impact because the hooked survivor will be unhooked 9 times out of 10 without the extra 10s being necessary. Those who do camp will feel this impact because the team may opt to just stay on a gen rather than attempt a save if the killer is hanging around.

  • @ratcoffee said:

I've previously said that "every time something gets basekit buffed for survivor, people always come on here and threaten to tunnel, camp or slug in protest." Glad to see, once again, that this trend is holding strong.

I sincerely doubt that any threats to engage in [insert complained-about behavior here] as a [protest against, revenge for, however you want to frame it] the hook nerfs and perk buffs will be long-lived, just as all other threats to engage in those activities have not resulted in serious changes to peoples' playstyles over the long term.

    It's like clockwork hey lol

  • Buffs to survivor perks are to the benefit of killers too. Unless you want to keep facing the same perks every single game as killer, this offers variety.

In the past the devs were nerfing popular perks because of complaints around lack of variety from the other side. We overwhelmingly asked them to stop nerfing perks and instead buff lesser used ones, and they seem to be listening. These are mostly meme perks, so not hugely impactful, and may mean less gen and exhaustion perks get used as a result.

The changes also have the side effect of survivors spending less time on gens, which is probably why they got changed as they did. Instead of someone having to get 50% of a gen done before they try and flashbang the killer, they now only need to get 40% done before they can run off.

  • @drsoontm said:

The first idea that comes to mind is "gens-before-friends is now more powerful".

That means the killer will have to punish it even more harshly, tunneling being the first option coming to mind.

We hear this alot. Survivor gets x buff, killer mains come here saying they're now going to tunnel/slug/whatever even more now in punishment. It never happens.

  • Their reasoning was a common concern back when gen times were increased. I guess they've noticed over the past couple of years, even with an antifacecamp measure, that it's a discrepancy that does need addressing

  • I felt this way about Chaos Shuffle and survived, you'll be fine.

Horrible change. A lot of times i get looped extremely hard then the game ends and it was a P100.

Do i sometimes win over them? Yes for sure, but on my experience de ratio is like 25-75.

25% of the time i win easily / win but close against a P100.

75% of the time i lose extremely hard against the P100.

Everyone seems to think "hey is just a number" and thats a blatant lie, at least for me. My own experience says that P100 means skill (and, oh well, getting a P100 means a lot of time spent so its pretty normal?). Hey, or maybe i am just the most unlucky person on DBD history and im playing against the best P100 players in the world.

And the best part is someone on reddit tested hundreds of games if im not mistaken, ant the stats did show that the P100 were MUCH better that the ones that were not.

Again, horrible change. Give me some option to disable going against people that are more prestige than me, then we can hide the prestige number.

This change should (theoretically) help you then. You might be getting these better opponents because the killer who was initially matched with them dodged, and so the game prioritised queue times over MMR (as it does). Now that the aforementioned killers won't see the prestige and won't dodge anymore, you should stop getting these cracked P100 survivors and should instead get those more on your level.

  • Yeah I'm looking forward to seeing these changes played out in PTB, particularly the Midwich update

  • I'm keen on seeing the future effects on matchmaking

  • Funnily enough, 2v8 had me missing 1v4 quite a bit and I've really enjoyed my games since going back. Facing a variety of killers instead of just the OG crew has been great.

  • Definitely a good change. I'm looking forward to seeing if there's a positive impact on matchmaking as a result.

  • Probably simply a time balancing thing. Killers don't have to pick up and walk to hooks, there's no sabotaging, no pallet saves, etc. So to balance it out they shaved gen time.

  • IMO no. I feel like the point of these modes is to offer something different to players who feel things are getting a bit stale. If I wanted to go up against the same old meta perks then I could just play normal mode.

It's not a success with this killer, because I can't PLAY killer.

Waiting 15/20 minutes for a 4 minute game is prohibitive. It may be fun, but that doesn't mean ######### if I can't get a game to begin with.

"The data is tainted, it's not the game mode that's a success, it's the bloodpoint bonus"

This. I only played for the bonus, and I'm sure alot of other survivors did too. If queue times would be even worse without the 400% incentive (which I'm assuming it was, hence why they gave the incentive in the first place) then it's not the mode which is a success. It's the bloodpoint bonus. You're spot on.

  • The first couple days were alright but then it did get a bit silly. I'm back to normal mode and it feels so weird seeing killers who aren't Huntress, Wraith, Trapper, Nurse and Billy lol

Is that true for you? In my experience and listening to the voices in the forums, 2vs8 needs far more survivors, because survivors are focusing on 1vs4,meaning more Killers are needed there...

Has there been a sudden massive uptick of killers overall with the release of 2vs8? 🤨

You're assuming all the killers are new players and not those who typically play survivor with their friends.

  • Yeah it was happening in some of my games and it's always Wraiths, they cage you then meet you as you're getting unhooked lmao. Once you play 2v8 enough you get an idea of where the cage is gonna pop up. I got to the point as survivor that I could predict it when I saw a team mate go down. I dunno why they do it, I guess the queue times aren't long enough lol

  • I'm having issues spending bp

Make event permanent, average playerbase is now higher because the biggest event since nemesis came out is now a permanent fixture. Ez

The Steam player count went from 50k (pre 2v8) to 100k, then back down to 50k within 48 hours of the mode's release. It'd be a different story if they maintained that number but they didn't.

This isn't selfish. It's about the long-term health of the game. If queue times for the base game are always long, that will negatively impact the health of the game. Long queues > fewer players > less revenue for BHVR > servers get shut down due to operating costs outweighing revenue being brought in.

Now, if you just want 2v8 to completely replace the original mode, then that makes you just as selfish if not more so.

Spot on. All this "I want I want" going on but people, as usual, can't see the long term ramifications. The game is in its 9th year because what it is has worked. I can't see the devs screwing over the health of their game for a mode that will eventually lose its novelty.
