Prop hunt is the mode this game could use and support multiple players on killer side.
Prob hunt probably would be alot of fun. Honestly would love to try that in dbd

I personally hope it isn’t, it’s fun when everything is busted and chaotic. It helps make for a casual friendly experience as oppose to the regular game mode
I never understood where the idea of 2v8 being busted and chaotic honestly. I never felt overpowered as a killer or survivor in the mode at all. It's not like Marvel rivals where 90% of the heroes all have really fun over power kits that are fun to use and play with. Killers we've gotten so far in 2v8 only feel like slightly buff versions of their 1v4 kits, nothing super crazy. Just mostly the same powers that are slightly buffed number-wise. As for survivors, it's mostly just the same gameplay for them just double amount of players.
I don't know…I rather have a truly chaotic mode where killers have crazy outrageous versions of their powers and survivors have other things to do other than sit on gens. Nothing in 2v8 feels chaotic or honestly fun. The thing I will say is 2v8 is more casual and friendly just bc you have more ppl so if one or two ppl mistakes on the survivor's side don't really mean the whole team will die and for killers you have one other person to lead on so it's not as stressful, tho that only when you playing with a friend since in my exp, my random teammate as killers 90% are useless and I will be better off playing with a bot killer or solo. -
I only really like Chaos Shuffer honestly…I have never liked 2v8. Unlike most killers on this forum, I find 2v8 miserable to play. 2v8 is unfun for me for two reasons, long 15 to 30min queues that leads to me not being able to play much at all since with those waiting times I can only get few matches in before I have to call it a night. Two, I HATE having a random teammate as killer, Im sorry but I don't want some useless deadweight as my teammate as killer. It only leads to unfun matches where survivors will gen rush and stomp both of us.
I do want more fun modes tho. Just not 2v8…I wouldnt mind never seeing that ass mode again.
-
@Hex_Ignored said:
If they just fill the queues with the absolutely useless bots, then no. Having a bot on your team is a massive hindrance.
I think bots would outright kill the mode honestly. I can't see anyone being happy with that. Survivors aren't going to enjoy having bot teammates and killers are not going to want to play PVE matches against a bunch of bots.

Jane's wearing that are just asking to be chased lol.
That's what Im thinking about when I see it. When I saw it the first time yesterday, I went "God…that going to get you spotted right away and get chased. You cant even hide with that outfit bc the ribbon going to give you away every time."
On the Topic:
I wanted to add also, I like how the SM skin imo doesn't even look like a dbd killer skin. She looks like she is from Mortal Kombat or some other fighter. Just wish SM wasn't ass to play bc I would buy that skin so fast right now. -
IMO SM 100% is better. Jane's is cute but the ribbon kills it for me. I don't like how it consistently floats up.

The only one I dislike is Jane’s, it’s the ribbons that kinda ruin it IMO.
I agree honestly. I would like it much more if it didn't have the magical rising ribbon. Form a gameplay stance also that outfit will most likely get you seen and kill faster than the other survivors lol. I can only imagine playing killer and just seeing a ribbon floating behind a rock or in a brush xD

She had a great skin for it last year and I believe was the face of it. They plan to rework her soon anyways. They haven't forgotten.
IMO "soon" means in a chapter or two but they said her rework isn't till late 2025, So we still looking at a 6+ month wait.
-
Wish I could say the same but I honestly just dont like any of the skins in this rift. Might be because they are mostly for characters I don't own or care to play. If ppl enjoy it Im happy for them but this one is a skip for me.
-
I hate it! I love the skin so much and want it but Im not buying a skin for a D(imo a F) tier killer…
-
Honestly, I don't care if Dracula is better than Spirit. I still like Spirit better and honestly I do better as Spirit. Bat is to loud for me and I can't even hear survivors' footsteps in it even with the so-called "50% louder sounds effect" bat has. Also I like killers who have one power and not 3 or 4. Imo Dracula and Lich were annoying killers bc they both have a bunch of powers clam into them and I much rather BHVR make killers who have one power I have to learn. Also don't even get me started on Wolf…Wolf is a disappointment and I hate how it controls and I'd rather play Wesker any day.
Overall yeah Dracula may be slightly stronger than Spirit but I still prefer playing her and she isn't even bad, she is still a A tier killer. This is coming from a HUGE Castlevania fan as well but imo I HATE what they did to Dracula.

her playstyle was enabled by Call of Brine, Overcharge, and Eruption.
Yeah, this is something I have noticed recently as I tried to learn everything I could about the original Skull Merchant.
People seem to overlook the impact this meta had and the fact that it was probably the main culprit behind the "Chess Merchant".
Oh yeah…gen kicking meta I believe was one of the driving forces why Chess Merchant became a thing. It's also why Knight was kinda in the same camp as well. These two killers came out near the peak of that meta I believe.

Denying that SM was used the most to troll is silly. We all know her history, how people picked her not to win, but to make others miserable by trapping them in a game.
If we don't really change her, but just give her number tweaks, that isn't going to make the SM mains happy. Her issues run deeper than what number changes can provide, she wouldn't be viable. It would also do nothing to improve their ability to play the game.
As I said in my last post, we going to have to agree to disagree and move on. Im not going to waste any more time of my life arguing with someone like you. What they did to SM was wrong and bad game design no matter what the reasoning is and we never going to see eye to eye on that.
-

The "other solution" was to micro-change her, making nobody happy except people who used her to troll.
New flash…ppl can use anything to troll in this game or any game in that matter. Reworking SM isnt going to magiclly going to get rid of trolls. You live in the age of the internet, trolls will always be around no matter what. Let's rework a killer bc trolls use her…that amazing reason to do it… Either way, we never agree on anything. I seen you on the forum long enough to know you have always hated SM and no matter what I say will ever change your mind about that fact. You are the primal example that no matter what they do to this killer ppl will always hate her. Anyway, Im done with this and I am moving on. I leave it at this, she was completely fine after her last rework, and reworking her again is only wasting time that could be used to show killers who need the help of love. Have a nice day…

So instead, you propose we do nothing and pretend there isn't an issue?
Is that not the same thing?
I never said do nothing…I said they need to do what they doing to killers now, make balance changes, and not a compete rework. Again we talking about a killer who wasn't touched at all for a year after her last rework. They left her in the same state for a year and never tried to make slight adjustments to her kit. Instead, they just cave to the complaints and decide "F*** it" and throw everything out the window, nerfed her to be the worst killer in the game, and told us to wait for "year" for them to "fix" her. How is that a good solution.
-
@Pulsar said:

Is SM not also a victim then, by your standard?
Her father dies and it forces her into this ruthless lifestyle. It's a different way, but she's still a victim of circumstance.
So then, what's the solution? Just leave her with a 70% KR and massive community hatred with no SM being able to finish a game? That's what leaving her alone would do.
Honestly yes, you leave her be and do balance changes like they are doing to Dracula and other newer killers. The thing is I rather them do this and tell the community to learn how to play against her than what they doing now. The "solution" they chose to do isnt a good one at all. It wasn't a good thing when they did it to Freddy, wasn't good for SM and it's not good for HM rope addon. Doing this only sets a bad precedent esp when it comes to SM bc it sends a message of "If ppl complain enough about something it will lead to devs nerfing that something into the ground with the promise of reworking it months or even years later." Leaving SM in a state that makes her a F-tier killer for what easily could be years isn't a solution. Its like sweeping your mess under the bed and saying "I clean that up later." Watch what I tell you, SM rework will be pushed back and we won't be getting it late next year, it be like twins all over again where she be worked on for 2 years and when it does happen it won't make an ounce of difference. Time and resources will be wasted on something that should never been reworked to begin with.

No worries :)
Knight was considered very problematic on release due to his Guards and his being able to hold games hostage.
Yes, but not quite in the same level. You can find some complaints about Knight, sure.
But it doesn't seem to me he was ever considered a problem of the same category as PTB Twins, or Old Legion.

It did feel like a bait and switch at the time, and her look is definitely…uh, not my cup of tea. All of that is subjective though.
Her lore, on release not sure how it is now, did suck. It was objectively poorly written. Her power was…yeah, I think we all know what a master-class disaster that was.
What do you propose to do if the Killer is still vehemently hated after another rework? You can't leave her alone if she's a consistent outlier in DC's and suicides.
There was no bait and switch at all. All we got from a teaser was a picture of a skill with some tech in it. It's the community's fault for reading so much into a teaser and just believing we was going to get a cyborg killer. Ppl set themselves up for failure, BHVR didn't bait and switch them. As for the other stuff, all of it is subjective even her lore imo. I liked her design, I liked the idea of a killer using drones, and I liked her lore. Sure her power was poorly designed at first but the idea behind her power was cool and imo her last rework did fix a lot of the issues her power had on release. Also about her Lore, it may been poorly written to some but at least it was different! Before her all-female original killers lore always painted them as victims, nothing super original in their stories whatsoever. At least SM is a killer bc she wants to kill ppl, she was forced or felt like she needed to kill bc some tragic event that happened in her life. Name one female killer in dbd that devs came up with themselves that is not some victim?
Either way, I agree with GeneralV you don't rework her and tell ppl to learn to play against her. Maybe even make videos on how to counter her and play against her. She didn't need another rework after her last one. At most, she just needs some small changes to raise her skill floor and raise her skill ceiling. Again after her last rework, BHVR didn't touch her again till this past oct when they decided to nerf her to the ground with the promise of a future rework that could take years to do. If they put in the same effort into SM as they are doing to newer killers like Dracala and Chucky then she would most likly be in a even better spot. I don't think the rework will do anything bc ppl will continue to hold their hatred for her and will DC/go next against her no matter what her power is. This means all the time she is in a such poor state and the time the dev is wasting on reworking her will amount to nothing. Time that could be used for much more important things.

That was on release, yes. But the slugging alone shouldn't have been enough to cause such distress. Waking someone up takes, like, 3 seconds? Shouldn't be impossible to deal with.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3857634#Comment_3857634
Because the other hated killers didn't have a problematic release.
Well, Nurse was always OP, but it was a vastly different game back then. None of those have a "Chess Merchant" of their own (though that had more to do with the build, rather than the killer power, but that is beside the point).
That makes the data for her different than others, but still doesn't tell you everything.
I like to add she was hated the second they even showed her off. I remember seeing threads in the forums about how ppl hated how she looked, how boring her power was, how her lore sucked, she wasn't the cyborg killer ppl thought she was going to be, and how she was some how a failed predator chapter. Chess Merchant only added even more fuel to the hated fire. With all that has happen to SM, I firmly believe she will forever be the most hated killer in dbd history and ppl will continue to go next against her even after her next rework.
I do agree that they shouldn't have nerfed her and instead told the community that they needed to learn to play against her. I think her last rework put her in a decent spot and she could have been better with some balance changes(remember the didn't even try to torch her after her last rework, she didn't get a single balance change before they completed nerfed her to the ground). She doesn't need another complete rework, her last version was fine and just needed some small changes.

In my experience, even the Doctor can turn survivors into bots.
Let me ask you what they didn't like about my build?
It was like a joke. The survivors were smart enough to know that cabinets save you from STATIC BLAST. However, they were unlucky enough that one was taken out of the Locker, and his neighbor got hit by Iron Maiden. These were the two easiest hooks. Who in their right mind takes Iron Maiden instead of the slowdown meta? Then there was another chase with a third hook. During my fourth chase, all the survivors turned into bots. The last one was the one who got hit and hides behind a match with perks.
This is taking into account that I was inclined to play hooks at the time, and did not take the slug build.
I've seen a few of my Legion matches turn into bot lobbies as well…

W- but who wouldn't want to play the event? (I know SOME people actually prefer not to) It's event time darnit!
Yeah, I understand and I feel the same. I mainly want to play her in the event bc the event is a little more led back than my normal queue matches. It was allowing to learn her with worrying about going to against super sweaty survivors. Sucks but at least she isnt fully kill switched.

Sad bc I was using the event to learn the killer since ppl are usually taking it easy. Guess I go back to the normal queues and play against sweaty survivors again :-/ It was bc some haste bug that the snowmen would allow her to get haste all the time, not sure how you do it but since they most likely going to leave for the holidays killswitching her is the only solution. Right? Both Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Identity V both have video tutorials on how new characters work accessible in game so you can see all their abilities and such why doesn't DBD? It feels like something that should've been added years ago with how large our roster is now.
Even Marvel Rivels has video clips for every hero's power and abilities. Showing you how it works and seeing what it does…its crazy DBD hasnt even tried to do this with newer killers. Doesnt even need to be in game if they cant add it in game, have a link on the killer profile that takes you to a youtube video or something…that be better than what we have now, which is nothing.

It splits the player base too much. If 2v8 was a part of the game ATM a vast majority of people would want to play 2v8 exclusively. Nothing wrong with that how ever when people want to go back to regular 1v4 they must deal with the dreaded L O N G W A I T. (Not to mention killers have to deal with the L O N G W A I T in 2v8 regardless.) There's a lot of other things that factor into this as well but just from my dum dum armchair dev pov it makes sense why they can't/don't want to implement it fully into the game at this moment.
Also I think once 2v8 is played out it will become a wasteland and the vast majority I mentioned will be tired of it and back to 1v4. Making it a limited time event incentivizes people to enjoy it while it lasts but return to normalcy afterwards. No burn out
No L O N G W A I T…
No chucky revert :'(
Not to mention the ppl like myself who only really want to play 1v4 would most likely be long gone by the time the 2v8 ppl come back to 1v4 since queue times will eventually kill the game for us. I know if queue times stayed between 10 to 20mins for months I would move on to another game and never come back to dbd.
-
The mode ruins queue times for killers in both 2v8 and 1v4. I've had to completely stop playing the game dueing 2v8 bc 1v4 queues were so bad and since I don't like solo killer or have a friend to play with 2v8, the mode isn't fun for me at all. Sure I could play Survivor but I can only do maybe one or two Survivor matches before I get really bored in both modes. Im a killer main for a reason and when queue times are 10+ mins, I can't play the game bc I would only will get maybe 3 or 4 matches in a night before I have to go to bed. Both times they did 2v8 the same thing happened where killers were left in the queue to wait up to 20mins and it also really hurts the mmr system bc how it works, since the longer you wait in a queue the wider the search range gets and the match you do get will be really one side bc you be either going against really good sweaty survivors or baby survivors in 1v4. Either way your match as a killer may only last 5 mins before you have to head back into a 20min wait.
Tho you and others miss 2v8, I really don't and I am not looking forward it to coming back because it means I have to stop playing. If it did become permanent I would most likely have to completely drop dbd altogether (rip the money I spent). This is why I hope it never becomes permanent and only stays as a limited event bc I don't want super long queue times and imo dbd is a 1v4 game. That is what I got the game for in the first place and the reason I play the game. I would feel different if 1v4 wasn't affected by 2v8 but it is affected in both queue times and match quality.

I also don't know where her being easy came from when literally everyone compared her to Singularity and considered her high effort low reward when she first released. As far as I'm concerned this is nothing but clickbait hysteria.
Yeah, I don't know where this idea that she so easy to play now came from. A week ago she was a hard killer with a really high-skill floor who you didn't get much reward but now all sudden she is a super easy killer? Like what? he assumes that survivors that dont play comp are dumb as rocks and need hand holding
Yeah, I always got the feeling that Hens thinks that the avg survivor is really bad at the game and needs hand-holding while the avg killer player is some comp-level killer who can perform at the same level as him or other killer mains. If you trigger the jumpscare it's already too late. You have to hit them before they get a chance to do that.
Just chuck snowballs at every snowman you find and you should get it no problem.I tried that…I will be honest: This has to be one of the worst-explained challenges they have ever made. No way in the event detail does it explain what a decoy snowman is, or in the challenge does it say anything about not triggering them. Honestly…they need to do better if they are going to something like this. Thanks for the help, though.
@Mandy Sorry for the tag but I wanted someone on staff to see this complaint I have about this challenge. I think yall need to add lil more details and expiration since it is clear to me that there are a few ppl like myself who don't understand the challenges and the game doesn't do anything to make it clear what we have to do.
-
Yeah, I just finished a match where I threw snowskulls at every snowman that screamed and jumpscare me and nothing…so I dont know what Im doing wrong here at all. I honestly think the challenge is bugged.
-
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3616004#Comment_3616004
That might why I been having issues then. Again the event doesnt explain what exactly a decoy Snowman is and how they diffenet from normal snowmen. For me I thought the decoys was the ones that are moving around the map.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3614476#Comment_3614476
With that, Im tagging someone from the team. I think yall should update the challege or the event gameplay details to explain what makes a decoy a decoy snowman.
-
I might be dumb but does the search have a max distance when you trying to target a gen? Last few days I have been trying to send the dog to gens and I rarely ever lock onto them unless close to them. I can't tell if the gens Im trying to target are too far or the power is bugged in some way. Its kinda annoying when Im going towards a gen I want to go two on the other side of the map and the power will not lock on to it all. If does than I do think the max distance should be increased and the speed for the marker to go out should be faster as well.
-
I know I try to warn ppl that what happened to SM was the beginning but nope so many ppl who hated her so much just didnt care that her nerfing has set a bad precedent. Now anything that may seem just a little overpower will have a sledgehammer taken to it and be left in a bad state on purpose for months or even years. This is the future for Dbd balancing.

Someone needs a refresh on English class…you don't paraphrase with quotation marks…you use them for direct quotes. On top of that, you didn't even paraphrase, you put words in the dev's mouths since the commuity manage never said anything about fixing the interactions with perks and other addons. So you nerfed it into the most worthless add-on to ever exist. And you aren't going to fix it until "2025" which by BHVR standards means this add-on could be left like this until next Christmas for all we know.
Just like how SM is getting her rework later in "2025" which means she be reworked in 2027.

Hopping in to provide a little context on this, the team has been closely monitoring The Houndmaster's performance and determined that Knotted Rope posed a potential balancing risk when paired with certain perks and addons. They're currently re-evaluating this addon and plan to revisit it in 2025, but ultimately wanted to ensure that heading into the holidays, the risk of an over-tuned combo was minimized.
We know larger balancing changes like this can be frustrating, but we appreciate your patience as at the end of the day, we want to ensure there's a solid balance between having fun as the Killer and playing against the Killer.Mmm, so the same thing y'all did with SM huh? Something seems off balance but instead of actually fixing the issue yall rather over nerf it so it won't be an "issue" since you know no one will ever play with it since its SO bad and then just push it to the side for what could a year or even more.
Great, love it. /s

Im just happy they are trying 12% instead of just nerfing to 10% and not adding its BP back.

If they nerf it to 10% but do nothing else with the perk then I'm going to be upset. Yes thae perk needs to be nerfed but taking the lazy route and dropping it back to 10% with no other 2nd effort imo will make the perk completely useless.

I am one of the few that believes that having various strengths of killers, perks, items, add-ons etc. is a good thing. I like that not everyone or everything is super strong or the exact same in strength, as that's when skill can really shine. That being said, I do think she should get some adjustments. I haven't played her myself, (only against) but from what people have said she is really "clunky" and slightly glitchy.
I technically have yet to survive against her (one of the matches I couldve survived, but she only got one hook and I let her kill me at the end cause I just felt awful. I don't like seeing people have tough games and luckily they were really thankful and they said in chat at end game that it was their 1st time playing her, and they also attested to her feeling off). But despite the constant losses against her I don't think that it's because of her strength, more so everyone still trying to learn how to play against her. I do think the "Search" for Snug should really be fixed. He has ran straight passed me before wiyhout detection🙃
Love the idea, the design is awesome, but she needs some more tweaks and qol update imo.
Meanwhile I having the oppsite exp while playing her where Im on the longest losing streak I have ever had on a killer…honestly I dont know if its the bugs, or the fact her skill floor is set so high that you actally need to watch guides and put in 100s hours to get half way decent with her. All I know Im starting to have such unfun time with her…I dont mind losing but losing every single match and not getting hardly any hooks just feel bad.

I wouldnt know if she fun or not…I can't do anything with her. Her high-skill floor is killing me and my matches as so unfun that I cant honestly learn anything or understand how to use her. She looks really fun I will say that and I do want to get better at her…I just dont know how and this first time Im at a lost with a killer…
-
I know we getting updates soon for her but she still should not have been released in the state she is in currently…dbd has this bad habit of pushing killers out when they not ready I feel. HM isnt the first killer to be released in a broke buggy state…you would think they would have learned something by now.

Surprised about the amount of people saying 12%, that's 35 seconds on the first totem, and 26 seconds on the second totem
Which, well, adds up with penti...
well its mostly bc ppl like myself just don't want to see it be nerf to 10% and nothing else changed about the perk. Since devs are hellbent on getting rid of all bp bouns(something I really don't like and wish they stop doing it) then Thill needs something else to replace what it lost. Either nerf it 12% and see what happens or take it back to 10% and give it a 2nd effect in place of the bp bouns like having you break pallets a little faster based on how many tokens you have left.
Either way there ppl like myself who just dont want to see the perk be nerfed back to 10% and nothing else done to it.

imagine thinking weave and UW were a problem, both of those perks were garbage then and they are garbage now. There's a reason comp didn't ban either them but they ban nowhere to hide.
UW is so garbage now. They completely ruin that perk imo. That my only issue when they decide to nerf killer perks, they tend to go over broad and completely make the perk not worth running or useless. Eruption is another one, sure I understand that it needed a nerf but it's effect now is so bad. It gives information at a time I don't need it…

Like Im love Thrill to get a small buff esp if they are hellbent on removing the bp bouns but 14% is too much. Personally I say nerf down to 12%, revert it back to 10% with a new small 2nd effect like breaking pallets faster, or do a compete revert and give the perk is bp bonus back. Any of these be fine, I just hope they dont just nerf it to 10% and call it a day, if it's going to be 10% again it needs someone else on top of it.

I went with BG3, because the bg3 devs have only added free content to the game over the past year when they didn't really need to and they just announced adding new subclasses for each class in the game.
Same! I love BG3 and the devs have been amazing to its community and game.

Thanks for providing this perspective on the Thrill of the Hunt change! We've been sharing feedback on this with the team and can confirm that we have plans to address this perk in an upcoming hotfix. Stay tuned for details!
I hope this means yall doing a full revert while also adding the bp bonus back to the perk…I agree with everyone that the perk needs to be changed but I don't want it just to be reverted back to 10% and that is it. If it goes back to 10% plz add its bp bonus back to the perk.
