  • Plz no! I want to play killer again plz TwT I haven't played killer in the last two weeks bc if I do I would only get very few matches a night thanks to the miserable queue times. I don't want a repeat of last time where the devs kept extending it.

This is kinda my issue with it. It's the casual mode, but the Survivors I get don't treat it as casual. Nor do the Killers I get. It is genrushing, looping the broken extra strong tiles and pallets you can rebuild, and the sweatiest combination of tunnelling Blights and slug Billies nearly every round for me. It is actually LESS fun and MORE sweaty for me because everyone I run into keeps PLAYING it sweaty. In the casual arcade mode. And like, for what? You can't pip in it, is the 8 man out/8k really that important to you all?

Everything is more powerful, but also way more obnoxious. Being tag-teamed isn't fun gameplay, period. Being genrushed after waiting 20 minutes isn't fun gameplay, period. The rounds are over so fast, it was barely a game. And it keeps messing up queue times for everyone across the board. Oh, and then there's the fact I either stack with my friends in a SWF and we destroy, or Iget double the random potatoes who are allergic to both generators and Terror Radii, so what is the point as Survivor? Free wins do not feel like actual wins. The whole mode just feels like such a bland stripped down experience, reduced to just "chase Survs"/"Do gens". And none of the Killers I actually want to play are in it, and likely never will be, because almost all my Killer Mains are licensed. There is legitimately nothing in it for me but disappointment.

I tried. I really did try. I tried to have fun with it last time and got bored after one week, then they EXTENDED it so I had to go on break for a month from DBD because the 2v8 queues ruined 1v4 queues, too. Not a single game could I get into, for the entire time it was on. Now they're doing it again, the same stupid thing is happening, and I got even more bored the second time around. Nothing really changed, the same issues as before are there, and it still doesn't feel that good to me or have anything interesting for me whatsoever. I just cannot and do not get the hype. At all.

I am very happy for the people that enjoy this mode. I'm glad you have it and I'm glad it's limited as well. But the vast, I mean the VAST majority of players, I think, just want normal DBD - a growing sentiment I am seeing from others in the community across Reddit, these forums, and various Discord servers and social media sites. The mode is not good, and this is not what people want, they actually prefer 1v4 DBD. Not this stripped down, soulless husk of an arcade version. And the fact is, the only reason it's actually successful is because it's a chance to play Killer with a friend. That's it. That's the only real appeal of the mode. If you like it for any other reason, you don't like DBD - you like winning DBD with busted toolkits.

2v8 sucks. It frankly, just sucks. And I really do not think it's going to get much better by just adding more classes, maps, and Killers. It's always going to just feel like more of the same bland, soulless, half-experience compared to 1v4. Always.

I feel you on the killer not being in the mode part. The only non-licensed in enjoy playing is Legion and I don't see how Legion would work in 2v8 since getting 5 chains hits with their power would be stupid easy so they would have to change Legion's power but then it wouldn't be Legion at that point. Other than that I enjoy Nemmy and Wesker and I don't see either of them in this mode since I think first aid spays, shots, and zombies wouldn't work in the mode either.

As for it being a casual mode, I can understand that was the idea behind it but here is my thing about casual modes in pvp games they rarely stay casual. Take OW2 for example, Quick Play is supposed to be the chill, laid-back version where you can learn a hero and get better BUT the community acts as it ranked as well. People who play ranked OW will come into quick play and play matches like they rank so they can get that enjoyment of winning and get easy wins. This why I said I never really wanted a rank and unranked mode in dbd bc I knew it wouldn't solve anything, ppl who want to be sweaty and get free wins will just play the unranked/casual mode to play against ppl who are trying to play chill and get easy/free wins. We are seeing that happen right now in 2v8. Like you when I play Survivor all I get is billies and blights who just mow down survivors as they are made of paper, while on Killer I get a lobby full of guides and medics who just want to genrush. No matter what side I play in 2v8 it's the worst time I have ever had in DBD, I prefer normal dbd over this mode any day of the week.

As you said the only reason this mode is so popular is bc it allows you to play killer with a friend but if you don't have that, the mode offers nothing more. Since Im the only one in my friend group who plays dbd 2v8 has nothing for me but a bad time.

This is the problem that this mode has caused. Absolutely no dig at you, everybody is more than entitled to their opinions, but if this mode was made permanent, that would be the beginning of the end. The current queue times are unsustainable. You would have to go down the bot route to fill lobbies and that would be the worst thing that could possibly happen for DBD.

Also this mode is causing divides in the community outside of the usual survivor vs killer stuff. For me, 2v8 gets very boring within a couple of days due to the complete lack of variety in killers and general gameplay. Now it's people saying they can't go back to 1v4 or like me, are barely playing until 2v8 goes away. The whole thing is harming the overall health of the game. It's like BHVR have opened Pandora's box with 2v8.

It's be great if there was a way both modes could coexist but it just isn't possible. I can't wait for it to go away again and I pray they don't extend it again. Just hope when it's back to just 1v4 and the new chapter releases, it isn't like last time with people instantly dc'ing against the killers they faced to death in 2v8 and people just ruining matches for both sides by killing themselves straight away for no apparent reason.

The Christmas event needs to be decent to help smooth everything out until 2v8 comes back again and blows the game apart for weeks once again.

Im praying with you that it wont be extended like last time. I dont want to go another 2 weeks of not able to get more than few matches in of killer bc most of my playtime is spent in a queue while watching youtube…Its not fun at all.

  • I agree with you that 2v8 sucks and honestly I think the mode is overhyped. For me I don't like how it affects the game as a whole, not only is killer queues painful long for it but it also causes queues be long for normal mode as well. Then you have the game play, for killer I find it unfun having to depend on some random to pull their own weight in the mode and the killers available are none I enjoy playing. For survivor I find the gameplay extremely boring because all you doing is fixing gens just like 1v4 but now you have double amount of teammates who will just let you down.

As for those who claim that the mode is "casual" I have no idea where ppl getting this idea from. The matches I have had both on killer and survivor have been extremely sweaty and unfun. As killer I had matches end in 6 minutes and then back into a 20 min queue, fun right? Completely worth the wait to have 6 minutes of getting your ass handed to you, SO MUCH FUN and totally chill... Then as survivor you run into meta killers all the time especially blights who just mow down your teammates in matters of minutes. The mode is just as try hard and sweaty as normal 1v4 so do kid yourself. There definitely a meta forming in the mode for both sides.

Overall I HATE the mode and it ruins the game for me because I can't even ignore the damn thing since it affects my queues in normal as well. The mode is overhyped bc it new and ppl with friends can finally play killer with them... Good for y'all but your enjoyment is subtracting from my own bc I can't even play the mode I want be the queue times are to damn long....

It would be an even worse idea to not require escaping. Then the fastest way would be to run up to the killer to get caged and miss every skill check in the cage. This would make playing survivor even more miserable pushing out players who actually want to play as survivor. Then 2v8 would turn into the two killers just massacring all the survivors who run up to them so they could have their turn doing the same thing. That would make playing as both killer and survivor worse.

Did I say that it would good idea to not have a requirement? Ofc there need to be some kinda requirements but having it based on escaping isn't good either. Honestly, the only way to do this is to base it on BP earned but even then it be kinda meh. Overall I just think priority passes just isn't a good way to solve the queue issue. OW tried it and ultimately it didn't work there either, the only way they solved queue times was to drop the 2nd tank and go to a 5v5 format. So I think the only way to solve 2v8 queue issues is to do something similar, drop how many survivors are required for a match. Maybe try 2v6 or something. Either way, I don't think requiring you to escape to earn a pass isn't good bc how dbd is designed as a whole, you have no real control over whether you escape or not. You can play the best you can but if you have selfish teammates or potato ones you are not going to escape unless you hide the whole match and play for the 50/50 hatch spawn.

  • As other said, I think having based on escapes would be a terrible idea. It would encourage killer players to play Survivor and never do anything but hide all matches in hopes of escaping. Even then if the killer player does play Survivor and loop/do gens there is no guarantee they even going to be able to escape. I have had matches both in 2v8 and 1v4 where I do really well as a survivor and still get killed bc my teammate arent pulling their weight or just left me on the hook to die. This happens pretty often to the point where I doubt I would ever get a pass and I don't think that too fair to me or any killer player if they play Survivor correctly. I even give an example of this happening in 2v8. The other night I had a match against a blight and deathslinger. The DS found me first and chased me, I looped him for so long(I think for 3 to 5 mins) but all that time one one or two gens pop bc the rest of my team drop like fries against the one blight. The blight was able to hook 5 survivors by the time I was finally got down by the DS and then I was left in the cage till my 2nd stage. Just say we lost that match pretty badly… Now would it be fair to me to not get a pass bc I wasn't able to escape that match even tho I played pretty good against the DS?

  • I know a lot of ppl enjoy it bc it's chaotic and trust me I love chaotic fun but I don't find 2v8 fun at all and definitely not worth the 20 min wait for killer. I know I have done this a few times but I cant help to compare it to a mode that OW2 just had for Halloween. The mode allows you to pick a hero and then pick from a list of passives to give that character after each round. A lot of the combos you could do would end up making the hero super OP and broken, like having Kirko throwing three explosive kunai at once or S:76 having homing Helix rockets that set ppl on fire and spawn a healing field at your feet. That was chaotic and super fun bc both sides had broken toys to play with and queue times were really short, plus matches could last 3 to 6 rounds. With 2v8 tho killer doesn't really have anything too crazy other than having a partner(even that could be a handicap if you queue solo and get a bad teammate) and matches can end really fast. Meanwhile, Survivors has some broken stuff like medic and guide BUT you only really doing the same thing you do in 1v4 just faster so it's not much more fun or different for Survivor either.

Overall I think 2v8 is overhyped by those who have friends to play Killer with and only like the mode bc it is new/limited. I don't think the mode itself is all that great or fun, just different. I don't even think it's casual bc there is a meta-forming in it with what the best combo of killers to bring and what the best classes survivors can use to rush through a match. So the mode can and will easily become just as sweaty as normal 1v4.

  • @Dreamnomad said:

So instead of complaining, what solution do you offer? The reason there is a long queue time is because there is a disparity between the number of people that want to play killer compared to survivor in this game mode. You need 80% of the playerbase to choose survivor over killer. So how do you incentivize 80% of the playerbase to play as survivor when 250% or greater bloodpoint bonus isn't doing the trick?

I can't help but compare all this to Overwatch 1 when the game was 6v6. DPS had long queue times bc no one really wanted to play Tank, tank was and still is the least popular role. Survivor is DBD's tank where it is the least popular role and having a mode that doubles the number of survivors you need for a match leads to long queue time for the most popular role. The devs tried to get ppl to play tank in overwatch by offering incentives but nothing really worked. The devs admitted in OW2 that the only solution that seemed to work was switching to 5v5.

So in my opinion, nothing will be enough to make enough people want to play Survivor. I don't think just adding more blood points, adding irl shards or adding a priority queue system is going to fix this problem at all. I feel the only ways you fix this without completely getting rid of the mode is either completely change Survivor as a role to make it look more fun to play, or change 2v8 format and lowing the amount of required survivors needed for a match(2v6 maybe).

  • And this is why Im not playing killer at all in dbd right now. Overall Im only playing survivor just to do rift challeges and then logging out XD I HATE 2v8…. It ruins the game for me honestly.

This is me. I'm a Ghostface Main. He's not in 2v8. In fact, of the ten or so Killers I do actively like playing frequently only ONE is in 2v8 and it's Wraith. And I pretty rarely play Wraith because I find him boring compared to everyone else I DO play.

I do not know, know how to play, or enjoy even half the options in 2v8. I don't want to play Slinger. Blight and Nurse make me nauseous. I barely play Trapper seriously and don't consider him part of my roster. I wanna learn Spirit but not in such a noise-heavy mode. I suck at Huntress and do not enjoy her. Billy is hard for me to control on my console controller (I play on PC but use controller for comfort reasons). Wraith is basically my only real option and I get SICK of playing him all. The. Time. He's glitched right now anyway, his uncloak is bugged in a way that is stealing parts of his lunge-hit uncloak speed and when he does get it, his lunge is the incorrect boost.

The wait time, the gens going so fast I barely have time to breathe, only one Killer I enjoy playing in the mode or even want to play or know how to play, and all that on top of the fact that Surv side is still boring as sin and now, is too easy on top of it all. Why would I, someone who likes and mains Licensed Killers primarily and plays Killer mostly for the sheer joy of getting to be Pig or Ghostface or Myers or Freddy or Pyramid Head or Pinhead or Wesker or Nemesis or Sadako, wanna play this mode again? There's legitimately nothing in it for me.

Same! Im a Legion main who also loves playing Nemmy, Xeno, and Wesker. Same as you the only killer in 2v8 I play is wraith but I really don't enjoy playing him that often since he is so bare-bones. I hate nurse, I never liked her, Bill and Blight are hard for me to control even on K&M(I have issues controlling dash killers like Chucky, Oni, Blight, and Billy), and I don't like range killers bc I have no crosshair for aiming. I do enjoy Spirit but I stopped playing her bc I have been having issues with some bugs she had, having a hard time with the sounds when she uses her power.

Honestly, even if they didn't add my fav killers I still really wouldn't play it because of the queue time and having to deal with someone I don't know. I don't like playing with randoms in a game like did. Other PVP games Im fine with like OW2 but I feel solo queue in dbd is painful.

    Obviously.

I think splitting the player base and allowing people to play normal mode during events is stupid.

However, 2v8 is the only exception to that I think. With that being said I still think it's weird to want to play normal mode over the event while it's active.

This may come to a shock you but some ppl don't like 2v8. Im a killer main and I HATE 2v8 bc I dont like any the killers in it, I dont like having to play with a random player, I don't like the wait time, and over all, I find the mode boring as hell. I been playing it as Survivor even just to do the challenges and I find the mode so ######### boring. I take normal 1v4 any day of the week over 2v8.

So Im happy they don't replay 1v4 with 2v8, the issue tho is that 2v8 still affects 1v4 making killer queues painful wait over there as well. Honestly, if it was up to me, I would scrape the whole 2v8 idea and think up other modes that could be fun for both sides.

  • I agree with you. I can't play killer right now bc I just don't want to sit thought a 15min queue and that just in 1v4. I don't even want to play 2v8. I'm playing survivor but God I'm hating it. As soon I get the challenges done I'm not touching DBD till this mode is gone.

  • Please no! Unless they can figure out a way to fix queue times in normal mode I rather not ever have this mode as a permanent mode. Personally I really hate 2v8, survivor is boring and unless you have a friend, soloq killer is not fun either.

I know ppl say 2v8 is like have casual mode in DBD but I don't see it like that. There definitely a meta forming in it and games are getting pretty sweaty. In my opinion Chaos shuffler is more of a casual mode bc you can't control what build you take into a match so for survivors they don't have to worry about killers running 4 slowdown and killers don't have to worry about survivors running bunch of 2nd chance perks. Also Chaos shuffler doesn't affect queue times at all unlike 2v8.

  • @Toystory3Monkey said:

Yeah, it's boring af on both sides.

i mean, survivor is kinda fun if you're in a party powertripping with overpowered class abilities, but that's about it.

killer is snore mimimi, survivor in general is snore mimimi.

failed gamemode that people play because it allows to play killer role with a friend.

I feel the same way about it. I played survivor last night since they have the fastest queue so I could just do the challenges and it was so boring and unfun. Last 2v8 I played killer and is felt pretty boring aswell. Overall I still prefer normal 1v4 dbd and chaos shuffer.

  • I actually tried it little bit today as survivor...it was really lopsided matches. Majority of them were lost but that bc they was always against high movement killers like blight (so many blights) I even had match where I looped a deathslinger for so long but we still lost bc while I was looping the deathslinger the other 7 survivors was dropping like flys to the blight.

Overall I still not a fan of 2v8 both as killer and survivor. Survivor I just find it boring for the most part and little frustrating. As killer I hate the long wait for matches and having to play/depend on a random teammate. Plus none of the killers interest me. Out of all the killers I only really play wraith.

this is the problem with killers. They don’t play the WHOLE OTHER SIDE of the game and will NEVER UNDERSTAND how the other side even works or struggles with. And no you can’t complain. Because there’s ANOTHER. ROLE.

    @mecca said:

They won't, killer is the easy role but they want to win 100% of the time. Its much easier to complain to the devs than playing survivor so they'll continue to buff killer and nerf survivors. It has always worked as BHVR is servants to them so it's like a cycle of gratification.

No, I don't play Survivor bc it's ######### boring. Btw we only talking about 2v8 here…I usually do play Survivor in normal 1v4 but I still prefer Killer bc it's actually fun and challenging. So sue me if I don't want to play the role I have the least fun on. I have every damn right to complain esp about a mode I personally hate and a mode that also affects the part of the game I want to play the most which is 1v4 killer. If the queues was normal for 1v4 when 2v8 is active I wouldn't complain at all. How dare both of you two tell me as someone who has paid for the game, the dlcs, and skins to not complain.

Also no one talking about balancing here. We complaining about how 2v8 affects killer queues in the whole game and makes queueing for killer miserable. I dont care if they giga buff survivors in 2v8, I dont play the mode so ######### it. I just want to play 1v4.

then play survivor and stop complaining. And you can see how the other side is affected

No I will not and I will continue to complain. I have all the right to complain and you can't stop me :P

  • @SweetbutaPsycho said:

I really like 2vs8 and I'm solo queuing most of the time as killer and survivor. The appeal at least for me is that 2vs8 feels way more relaxed and arcade like than the total sweatfest that are most normal games. Also for killer it's fun to get other randoms and see how they play killer and how well they harmonize with you.

As for the long queue times: that's why netflix exists

As the other person said, if I have to do something to past the time in between matches, rather just do that fulltime. I rather go watch netflix or youtube and not play dbd when there are 15min queue times. Some of us also dont have all night to play and having to wait 15 to 30mins for a 5 min match isnt worth the time investment.

  • @bubbamain_0230 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3840022#Comment_3840022

then don’t complain about killer queue times. There’s not enough survivors to go around for all the killers

They have every right to complain…maybe they don't like playing Survivor and only want to play killer? I know that is how I feel. I hate playing Survivor in general and prefer Killer. The issue here is that 2v8 long queue times aren't affecting just the 2v8 mode but it affects the normal mode as well. If it was just 2v8 killer queues that were long then I and most likely others wouldn't complain as much bc we just simply don't have to play that mode and just play 1v4 but that's not how it is. No matter what mode we play we have to suffer through 15+min queue times.

  • Personally I never understood why ppl like 2v8. I think it's mostly killers who has that one friend they always wanted to play killer with but if you don't have a partner the mode imo isn't fun. Especially when you have to sit in queue for 15 to 30 minutes. I just pray that the devs don't extend this mode for multiple weeks like they did last time. Let the mode end on the date you set plz.

  • After reading about the new 2v8, it sounds like a good time to take a break from dbd after all. The mode to me sounds even more unfun with gen speeds and how sweaty ppl playing and add the fact killer queues are back to 20mins long… Sorry I just dont think 2v8 will ever be a mode I look forward to, it ######### with queues too much and ruins even the normal base game imo. I rather have Chaso suffer over this mode any day, at least that doesn't lead to me waiting 30 minutes for a 5-minute game.

No, I haven't played at all today. I don't usually log in till late in the evening(its 5:10pm now). That said I most likely wont log in today since I been hearing killer queues are already bad XD

Ah I see - you're talking about queue times for normal mode while the 2v8 mode is active. That makes more sense now. Normally, when 2v8 mode is not active, I have super fast queues for killer in the evenings.

Yeah sorry, I thought that was a given since the topic of this thread is about long queue times for killer while 2v8 is active. Yeah, in normal dbd without 2v8 around, killer queues are amazing but when 2v8 is active killer queues for both modes are horrible. This is why I said I be will be taking a break from the game till 2v8 is over.

Something doesn't sound right here if you are playing US eastern time zone. 9-11 PM is peak SWF time and in my 6 years of playing I've NEVER had more than like a minute of wait time for killer during those hours. I'm talking about normal mode, not 2v8. I mean, just now to test it I queued up for killer a few times and it took 20 seconds or less each time to get into a lobby.

I believe that you had long waits for 2v8, as queue times for killer were always super long no matter what time of day.

During the last 2v8 both modes had 15 min queues times for killer…Like right now yeah queues are fine but after tomorrow when 2v8 starts back up the queue time for Killer will most likely be 15mins again just last time. Trust I remember very well that I had to wait between 15 to 20 mins just for a normal 1v4 match during the last 2v8. I stop playing after few night of only getting like 5 matches bc the wait times was so bad.

I would disagree that it was more fun. For me it was less fun in 2v8, since every game was basically a stompfest when I was playing Killer. I did not get anything below a 7K in all games as Killer. With a random Killer as teammate, so basically SoloQ for Killer.

I had and have more fun in 1v4, it feels more challenging and rewarding to win there as Killer compared to 2v8. But sadly 2v8 destroyed the queuetimes for 1v4 as well, so I am really not looking forward to the return of 2v8.

I had pretty much the same experience as killer in 2v8. It's the reason I stop queuing for it after a few days it was added. Unfortunately I couldn't play normal mode either tho thanks to the longer queue times.

  • @I_Cant_Loop said:

What time are you playing and in what time zone? My killer queues are nearly instant in the evenings - US eastern time zone. Killer queues are definitely longer if you're playing during "off-peak" times like mornings and early afternoon when people are working/in school and less likely to be playing SWF

I'm on EST and my queue time was no where instance at the times I usually play at which are anyway between 9pm to 11pm. I experienced 15min wait times for both modes pretty much. 2v8 was little faster but I hated playing the mode with randoms as killer so I mostly stayed with normal mode.

  • Im with you! I'm taking a break as well. I don't want to live though 15min queue times again... I only was able to get like 3 matches a night last time. Not worth it

Honestly, I think it will always be this way.

Survivor gameplay doesn't change that much, you just have a bigger team with the slightly tweaked effects of different perks.

But killer? Playing killer with someone else is extremely fun, and the more characters they add to this mode the better it will be. Just like the first Lights Out, the killer experience is simply more fun in 2v8.

I wished I could say playing with another killer was fun but honestly for me it wasnt…the mode is made for killers who have firends to play with and I just dont land in that group. I could just not play it but the issue is 2v8 affects the normal mode as well, making killer queue there longer as well. So no matter what mode I play as killer I will have to suffer the 15+ min queue times. It just makes the game not worth playing for me while 2v8 is on. So I be taking a break v.v Also means my rift isnt going to get done either :-/

  • Glad the mode looking better. I wish everyone the best with it. I'm taking a break bc I'm not sitting in 15min killer queues again like last time. I'm not a fan of 2v8 bc I have no one to play with and normal 1v4 queue times are most likely going to be terrible as well...

The Pseudo Spirit playstyle he has with the Batform is still alive and well, only slightly weaker. I honestly expected Medusa's Hair to be nerfed.

Hellfire did not need any Nerfs.

Wolf is still weak. The problem with scent orbs is not the spawn rate but the detection range. The basekit range is so short that If you can see the orbs you can track the survivor just fine without them.

The pounce attack is too predictable and easy to dodge.

Shoot you're completely right about medusa hair and I thought for sure it was going to get a huge nerf. That completely slipped my mind when I read the patch notes lol. But yeah I agree they did barely anything to Wolf that is meaningful. Wolf will still be his worst power for both tracking and chasing, pounce is still just an worst wesker dash. Esp since you still can't control when you do use the 2nd pounce or have the ability to cancel it.

  • Im not a fan but I'm also not surprised. I said before Dracula would mostly get nerfs to vamp and bat from while Wolf gets barely anything. I'm unfortunately was right about this... I'm fine with nerfing the problematic parts of his kit while buffing the weaker parts. They kinda did this but it's not enough since the buffs to wolf are barely anything and doesn't solve it's main problems.

  • I cant wait for the devs to release the next dev blog so we see how useless they going to make bat. I have no doubt in my mind that they going to slap a heavy Nerf to bat bc all the complaining and give Wolf nothing. Dracula going to be a killer with three weak powers that are just copies of other killer's power. I still hate this is the direction they decided to take the dark lord, to make him into a copycat killer with no power to call his own. Plz devs never do a venra or dracula again…I'd rather have a killer with one strong power than a killer with 3 lame/weak powers :-/

Yea they'll probably nerf the bat a bunch, the ideal nerf in my eyes would be to make Survivors really difficult to track, so you cannot really use it well in a chase, only for traversal, + a slightly longer switching cooldown for bat form only, so from Vampire to Wolf it would be the current 2.5 seconds, and from Wolf / Vampire to Bat it would be like 4 seconds maybe.

As the others said I think tracking in bat is already difficult. You only have scratch marks go by really. Before anyone says anything, yes I know Bat has the ability to hear survivors 50% louder but I have NEVER noticed this part of bat's power. In fact I didn't even know this was a thing till someone pointed me to the wiki page on Dracula. So either this part of his power is bugged or the 50% louder footsteps isn't powerful enough to overcome the loud bat cries the smaller bats make. I just know whenever I used bat all I can ever hear are those annoying ass bats and survivors have always been around to juke me in bat. I have an easier time hearing and hitting survivors as a spirit than bat.

I do think the bat needs to be torn down tho, esp the hinder addon. It's dumb to have an addon that is better than a killer's whole power(Clown's bottles). As far as the power itself maybe some small number of changes need to be done but honestly, I think bat is kinda fine overall. But if it needs to be nerfed, that fine just move some of its power over to wolf since wolf really could use the help. I just don't see BHVR doing this sady tho. As always they will nerf his most complain parts heavy and not really give him anything in exchange.

idk, i have feeling they'll try buff wolf form in upcoming changes but like fail in bvhr fashion. than again, they might do something funny like make his orb give you 35% haste or something.

I hope they buff Wolf but I honestly think the only thing they are doing to him in the next update is nerfing Bat. I think it's not even going to be a small nerf either. Since so many are talking about how strong bat is and some even saying it invalidates spirit, they going to slap a really heavy nerf to bat and make it his worst power.

I love to play Wolf Only Dracula but I find wolf so annoying to play. I think it bc Wesker is one of my fav killers and when I play wolf all Im think is that Pounce is just the worst wesker dashes. I just would love the choice of using the 2nd pounce instead of being made to do it every time I use the power. I really want wolf to be his main power tho and love to see qol changes or small buffs to it.

I did try wolf only last night after I read this post. It was ok and had few fun matches but I pretty much lost ever single one of them. I still think wolf needs some love. I stand by my claim that I would like to see them nerf bat and shift some of that power over to wolf.

If recent history is to be believed, there is no middle-ground when dealing with even slightly-overtuned stuff recently, it's either nerfed into uselessness or absolutely meaningless changes that either don't fix the issue or create a new one (each not being mutually exclusive).

I'd like to be optimistic, I really do, but I honestly have very little faith in the coming Killer changes/tweaks. The only hope I keep is that Wesker won't get nerfed again (wishfull thinking maybe) and that the Freddy/Myers changes won't be a repeat of Twins rework (almost universally hated and unhealthy, got almost entirely reverted).

    @Senaxu

I don't "play a single side", this applies to both "sides" and I play both sides (although I stay away from SoloQ since Finisher Mori).

I feel the same as you. Im very sure bat will be nerfed really heavily to the point it's useless. If we learned anything from the recent SM change is that the devs don't really care that much about true balance, they only care about those who compain enough and are the loudest.

Do I think he needs some minor changes? Yes, I don't mind a few nerfs if they wandered. In fact, I wouldn't mind them nerfing Bat if they also buff Wolf since I feel wolf is the weakest and most unfun to play part of his kit. I wanted Wolf to be really fun but it's just the worst demo shed or Wesker Dash. That is not going to happen tho, the only change he will get is a heavy-handed Nerf to bat since it's the part of him that most ppl complain about.

At min 7:00 if you want. He literally says "Hellfire is better than half of the powers that are similar, better than Nemesis tentacle, better than Pyramid Head.." and he even says "..with shorter cooldown". Like WHAT? Dracula has 7s cooldown, Nemesis and Pyramid Head have literally zero cooldown.

Maybe with the cooldown thing he meant the delay where he cannot attack after casting Hellfire. But still, saying that his ranged attack is better than Pyramid Head is still a blatant lie.

Yeah I love to know what he taking to think Hellfire is better than any of those. I even find xenotail better imo. Maybe it's bc I personally don't like playing him but I don't think Dracula is that super strong. A lot of his kit is just annoying to deal with while playing him I find. Wolf: I hate how you are forced to do to pounces no matter what, Vamp: Hellfire can easily be dodged and you get punished so harshly I feel compared to PH, Nemmy, and Xeno, and Bat well Bat I just find the damn smaller bats cries annoyingly.

Personally, I hope we don't get too many other killers like Dracula and Vecna. I don't find killers with multiple weak powers fun to play or even learn. At least Vecna's powers were kinda new but Dracula's powers are straight up weaker versions of other killer's powers. I think it sad that Dracula the Dark Lord himself is pretty much a jack of all trades and master of none killer.

Im sorry but, even if i like Scott (he is one of the few dbd streamers i follow on Twitch) that video is full of BS and it seems he just have some personal vendetta against Dracula.

    • Spirit is usually still relegated as the better killer. Usually being put in top 5 killers in the game, and sometimes some people even put her at top 3 just after Nurse and Blight, so i dont know where the "Spirit vs Dracula" comparison comes when Spirit is still the better killer and more competitively viable than Dracula.
    • All of his arguments started to fall apart when he called "Hellfire" basically stronger ranged attack than Pyramid Head, Nemesis… I mean, cmon, Pyramid Head is still the absolute king of medium-ranged attacks, being able to bypass basically everything and have 0 cooldown. And he said Hellfire was a better ranged attack. No. Just no.
    • Also about Hellfire, he said "misses it and doesnt get punished for it". Like, what? It has a basekit 7 seconds cooldown. Pyramid Head or Nemesis miss their ranged attacks and have a "try again" button ready.

When he started saying those thing about Hellfire i knew he just hates Dracula for some reason and wants to rant about him.

Dracula is strong. Not broken or overpowered: just strong. But Scott was just blatantly lying on that video.

OMG did he really say hellfire is better than PH's range? I didn't watch the video mainly because I just disagree with his point and as you said I feel Scott just has something out for Dracula. Btw weeks after Dracula came out Scott made a video explaining why he didn't like him and don't see himself playing him much and now here he is saying Dracula is to overpower and is completely invalidates another killer existence. Don't know what change but seems he changed his mind on the dark lord.

Either way yeah I completely disagree with Scott on hellfire. PH range attack is so much better than hellfire. I mean...it can go though all walls something hellfire can't do at all.

  • Personally I love a way to end a unwinnable match as killer or devs improve the matchmaking. Imo this game has way too many one sided matches thanks to the horrible matchmaking system. 90% of my games are either me stomping the survivors or survivors running circles around me. For example last night I played two games as nemmy. The first match of the night was miserable, I could only drop one person and survivors was able to pop 3 gens very quickly. At that point I said ggs and just waited at the gate bc there was no coming back from that and I was just completely miserable. After that match tho I had the compete opposite experience where I completely destroyed a group of survivors, having 3 of them in death hook at 4 gens. That wasn't really fun for me either believe it or not.

At end of the day I understand why ppl don't want a give up button but if that's not the solution then we need to look into making one sided matches less common. Either a catch up mechanic or just better matchmaking.

I really enjoyed 2v8 as both survivor and killer. Yes, the killer queue times were super long in both queues but it’s hard to deny how much fun I had as killer in 2v8. When I didn’t want to wait for the long queues I just played survivor. I enjoyed that in 2v8 as well. I didn’t like Chaos Shuffle much as either role, but I didn’t mind Lights Out.

That's fair and completely valid. I sadly don't share your views on the mode. I didn't like it and I didn't enjoy the long queue times. I most likely will not play DND when 2v8 come out and just force on overwatch 2.

  • @Ayodam said:

    why the hate for 2v8?

I don't know everyone's reasonings but I can say mine. I don't like 2v8 bc how it affected the game. Killer queues for both normal mode and 2v8 was obnoxiously long. I remember sitting in queue for a normal match for 10 to 15 minutes one night and after that match I took a long break from DBD bc I don't have that time to wait to play one single match. That's the main reason I don't like it but there few smaller reasons like it was boring to play as a solo queuer and every killer partner I had was just a huntress. Overall I personally wasn't a fan of the mode and rather have the chaos shuffler bc at least it didn't affect queue times and using random perks can be fun some nights.

You know I just learned about this the other day and I still find that hard to believe. Every time I ever played him and used bat I never once heard footsteps. The only thing I ever hear are the dumb ass smaller bats flying around. Its either isn't making that much of a difference or it bugged.

So I played the dark lord a lot last night and I can confidently say I still can't hear damn footsteps as the bat. So I still don't believe this 50% louder footstep part of his power is even working or it's just isn't enough to overpower the annoying squeaking of the damn bats. Imo that's one thing spirte has over bat, I can actually hear survivors and not deal with the loud ass bats.

  • Im with you. Im not looking forward to long queue times again for killer in the normal mode again and I hated playing 2v8 as a solo queue killer(I have no one to play with). Most likely take another break and just go play ow2 till 2v8 is over.

I’m curious as to how this killer mmr is supposed to work because… if a new killer drops, on day one you pretty much get them every match. However, based on the assumption that this is a killer that you’ve never used before you should be getting brand new players, and yet people who have been playing this game for a long time and who are in a higher bracket MMR get the new killer all day long just like everyone else.

So how does that happen? Or are we just getting the people that played the PTB and already had a week or so to figure him out? That would probably make the most sense because even my first game as Survivor on a new killer launch I’m getting people that immediately seem to know what they’re doing with the killer and there’s no way that somebody has it figured out that well on day one first match.

I could be wrong but how mmr works on a newly released killer is that it's mmr is either set around the same mmr as your highest mmr on another killer or its set to the average mmr of all your killers. I just know they use your mmr from the other killers you play to set the new killer's mmr. A newly released killer mmr is usually never set super low unless you are really new to the game.

Personally I kinda hate it works like that because since I pretty sure I have above avg mmr on the killers I main, every new killer that comes out my games feel miserable bc I'm going against survivors I would go against as killers I'm good at. It makes learning a new killer a miserable experience for me bc it just end up being stomp fests for the first 5 to 10 games.

Hope I explained that okay, I'm sure someone else can correct me on any mistakes or explain it better than I. I just know that a new killer's mmr is rarely ever set low especially for ppl who have 1000s hours in game like I do.

Dracula has 50% bonus audio on footsteps, kind of like a basekit stridor but for steps

  • Been seeing this topic alot this week. Imo I still would rather play spirt over Dracula any day of the week. At least with spirit I can hear the survivors while as a dumb bat all I can ever hear is the annoying ass cries of bats in my ears. In fact, I learned just the other day that bat lets you hear survivors footsteps 50% louder and I still find that hard to believe bc I NEVER once have been able to hear anything in bat cries. Either that part of his power is bugged or my hearing is going bad(which I doubt bc I can still hear other things fine in dbd and other games just fine.)

Either way, I think it's kinda a moot point at this point bc we already know he's on the list of killers that getting changes in the next patch in nov, Im pretty sure Bat will get heavily nerfed since that, and Medusa's Hair are the two main complaints I see. Honestly doesn't change much for me if they do nerf him bc I think he is one of the most unfun killers that came out this year. I hate this new trend of giving a killer more than one power but making them all weak. The Lich it was a cool idea at least and the powers was kinda unique but with Dracula, all these powers are just copies of other killer's powers. It's boring and meh to me to have the Dark Lord be just a copycat killer of the other killers we already have.
