  • Im most definitely not voting DBD for labor of love reward. They just released one of the most buggy killers with a very large skill floor (I still haven't gotten a kill with her btw...she first killer I have gone this long of a losing streak.), they nerfed SM this year and left her to rot till they rework her(they say next year but I'm money it's going to take two years at best), they fired a lot of ppl who did amazing things for the community, and they honestly mishandles the fog whisperer program. So yeah i don't even think they should be nominated honestly.

  • I also think it should stay. Both of these perks are very limited to begin with and only activates on unhooks so I don't see any harm letting them activate the same time as a normal hook turns into a s.hook with compass. Honestly as Otz said if this bug is fixed it honestly makes HM perk kinda underwhelming since her other two perks are kinda just meh.

  • I may take you up on that bc I really want to like this killer. I was kinda hunting for some kinda guide to her on the internet as well. If I do decide I like your help I'll msg you!

What builds are you running on her? If you're not good with her power, try Bam. I like bam, compass, pop and pain res.

For the first two nights I was running just her perks to try to get her adept then I gave up on that and just used my normal build with her new perks so Pain, pop, corrupt, and compass. Honestly so bad at making builds that I usually use builds suggested by Otz or some builds I find online, I just havent seen any in the days I played her. Still doing chase I have so many issues using her dog… I honestly have no clue what Im suppose to be doing and how to use him in loops.

  • I do think 14% is over the top and a nerf or even a revert is justified. I think either it needs to be lower to 12% or just give it its bp bonus back and put it back to 10%. Honestly, I don't like it when the devs remove BP bonuses from perks…the extra bp isn't hurting anyone.

  • Im honestly having such a hard time with her and nothing I do is helping…After 3 nights of nothing but 4 escapes is killing my enjoyment of this killer and the game…I never had this long of a losing streak on any killer before… Even killers I suck at or hate like billy I can at least get one kill every couple of games… I honestly dont know what to do to get better with her.

  • @SidneysBane1996 said:

I think Thrill as a totem protection perk CAN stay, it certainly needs something because otherwise it's sort of useless and making it stronger isn't an issue. I just think not this strong. 14% is a little absurd, I think 10-12% would be fine. That way when stacked with other totem protecting perks like Undying or Dominance, it's not so terribly strong as to make cleansing take 47 seconds.

I do think 11% or 12% would be completely fair honestly as well. Do think 14% is little overkill honestly.

  • Personally, I wouldn't mind them walking this back… I'd rather have the extra bp over a buff thrill anyway. That's just me tho…honestly wish devs stop removing bp bonuses from perks. I still missed old BBQ and getting extra bp from hooking a new survivor.

If what you two are saying is true then it kinda tells me that maybe dbd doesn't have the player base to support the ratio 2v8 requires and support both 2v8 and 1v4.

So its not the player base size per se, there are plenty of players. The problem is that they need to keep the players in roughly equal proportions. You could have a massive player base, but if you move far away from that 20/80 split queues will slow down.

Imagine there were a hundred and ten players in the game. 30 of them wanted to be killer and 80 of them wanted to be survivor. Let's say you are killer 30 in the queue. The first twenty killers will get a game, all 80 survivors will get a game, but then you have to wait for 36 survivors to finish their games, queue up again, before the next four finally give you the game you want. You could multiply those numbers by a billion, as long as you have an imbalance on the sides its going to create issues.

Looking at the history of other assyms, I think BHVR just kind of got there through a combination lucks, bribing the players, and many years of trial and error.

At the end of the day if 2v8 did become permanent it most likely led to me uninstalling the game bc how will affect the game as a whole for me. My reasons why I would most likely stop playing if 2v8 became permanent:

1: Queue times will continue to be 20 mins for killers across the whole game and even if they would get better over time we most likely looking at MONTHS for that to happen.

I'm not sure if it would be months. I suspect if it was permanent the luster would fade quickly on the rush to play killer and/or killers would eventually drop out of the killer role and play survivor.

However, it definitely would be an issue. Whether that would be times of a minute or two or ten+ is just guess work.

"I'm not sure if it would be months. I suspect if it was permanent the luster would fade quickly on the rush to play killer and/or killers would eventually drop out of the killer role and play survivor."

Im pretty sure it would and I've seen others who also think it would take months for ppl to get tired of 2v8. Scott Jund who loves 2v8 has said it would take a while for queues to return to normal naturally if 2v8 was made permanent. Even if you are right it didn't take a monthes, my 2nd point would still be true in my reply and I still think the game can't handle 2v8, normal 1v4, and chaos shuffer. I paid for dbd to play 1v4 and thats the mode I want to play but 2v8 I think will lead to that mode being worst and not fun. This why I say it need to be an event thing or its own game.

This is a honestly question I have for most ppl who are saying that survivors prefer 2v8 over 1v4. Do y'all really don't understand how queues work?

Just looking at queues doesn't really answer the question because of how the game needs an 80/20% split in its player base.

If a new mode came out that attracted a million new players, and half wanted to play survivor, and half wanted to play killer, queues would break for killers even though on an objective number count the mode is popular and BHVR would be thrilled by the new players.

And because of the huge need for more survivors than killers, even a relatively small percentage wise tilt toward players wanting to play killer more can really unbalance things. If queues were roughly even, for every one survivor who switches to playing killer, four killers need to switch to survivor, and for every new killer player that enters the game, four survivors have to enter.

I have no idea what BHVR's data actually indicates, I'm just trying to point out that the queue times don't really answer this.

Because you need the double amount of killers and survivors when you already have the standard 1 vs 4, that makes 10 people in a match. Also there were killers who wanted to try it alone and a lot of them were paired up with a friend so those in solo killer would need to wait until another solo killer was available too.

Fair points and I'm willing to agree with both of you on these points but this further pushes me to the idea that 2v8 can't become permanent. If what you two are saying is true then it kinda tells me that maybe dbd doesn't have the player base to support the ratio 2v8 requires and support both 2v8 and 1v4.

Im not going to sit in a queue for 20min for a 5min match in 2v8 or a sweaty unfun match in 1v4. This leads to point 2.

2: Now this is based on what others have said since I took a break from Killer as a whole this time around but I heard from streamers and other ppl that 1v4 became even more sweater doing the time 2v8 was around. As someone who honestly really dislikes Killer in 2v8 since I don't have a friend to play with and I don't like having to work together with some random person who most likely won't pull their weight. I would opt to play 1v4 more since killer was the main reason I got dbd in the first play(being the 1 with no teammates) but if 1v4 is nothing but swfs who wants to sweat then I not going to have fun there either. So there would not be a place for me to just have a fun time since I don't like killer in 2v8 and don't want to play sweaty in 1v4.

As you see this is why I don't want 2v8 to be permanent bc it will GREATLY affect my fun of the game and Im sure others feel similar to myself in this fact. This why I think chaos suffer is a better mode to put into the game over 2v8 esp with you also randomizing items and add-ons. It has the same feel as a causal mode bc you wont have to go against the meta builds every match (or addons or items if they added those to be random as well) and keeps the core ideas of the game being 1v4. They could even add things like the cages to stop camping if you worry about that. I know what someone may say tho "Well we could have both 2v8 and chaos suffer" but I honestly think dbd can't handle 3 different modes and having all 2v8, 1v4 and chaos suffer would only lead to longer queue times.

  • @THE_Crazy_Hyena said:

Personally, I think if there was a mode that should be permanent, it should definitely be Chaos Shuffle. Not only do you get a random experience, where you don't have to face meta perks every game, but it is also a great casual mode, that builds on the standard 1v4 mode.
I would like for it to have a randomizer element for items and add-ons as well, as it could make things even more fun, where you really have to play to the strengths of the perks and items/add-ons given to you.

Random characters could also be a thing to consider, making this mode fully random.

2v8 is fun and all, but there are some major drawbacks to it, such as killer queue times, little variation when people find the best killer combo, and so on.

I completely agree!! I would love Chaos Shuffle to be made permanent. I think it is the safer and easier mode to make permanent since it doesn't affect the main core of the game at all but it also offers the casual experience since both sides wont have to worry about going against meta perks every single match. Also, I think they totally should lend into making everything random, random items and random addons would further make the mode even more casual-friendly while also keeping the core 1v4 idea of the game.

In my opinion, Chaos Shuffle is a better casual mode than 2v8 bc everything is random unlike 2v8 where survivors and killers still have a choice in what they run and will pick the most powerful options given to them.

  • Personally I just want wolf to be better...I know it can be good in the hands of someone super skilled but it's pounce is way to punishing of you miss and I feel it has such a small hit box. I want to love this killer but much like how I feel about HM right now, I feel his skill floor is to high for him to be enjoyable. At least for me v.v

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/433735/the-real-reason-devs-are-scared-to-make-2v8-permanent

If 2vs8 became permanent, you'd never catch me on 1vs4 again LOL. But I can only speak for myself on that. The amount of pressure that gets put on you being on a much smaller map with only 3 other players and a killer is immense. In a way, I'm having to relearn how to do stuff again because for a while I was playing on a huge map with lots of other people to take the pressure off me and I wasn't being constantly driven off gens every five seconds. Or having to constantly go in for saves because my few remaining teammates might not.

I love 2vs8 because I just want to have less pressure put on just me to win or carry my three random teammates if they're having a hard time. I'm not team captain material or endgame warrior, I'll just put it that way.

This is a honestly question I have for most ppl who are saying that survivors prefer 2v8 over 1v4. Do y'all really don't understand how queues work? 2v8 for both times it's been in the game, killer queue have been terrible (20 min waits). This is because there are more killers than survivors who are playing the mode. If what you are claiming was true where killers prefer 1v4 over 2v8 and survivors prefer 2v8 over 1v4 then why the hell survivors queue are almost instant and the BP incentive was exclusively on survivor for the whole two weeks the events they ran? To me it seems killers are the one who enjoys 2v8 more.…

As killer myself I can only speak for myself. I personally prefer 1v4 over 2v8 for few reasons and easy wins isn't one of them. One, I don't want to deal with a random teammate, you think solo survivor is bad in 1v4 well solo killer in 2v8 is pretty much the same experience. I didn't play 2v8 this time around but doing it's first run, I had so much useless killer partners that matches wasn't fun at all. I rather be by myself at that point. And two, killer queue times...as I mentioned earlier killer queue are always around 20min during 2v8...this meant I could only get maybe 3 matches in a night. This wasn't worth for me and decided this time around to not even try killer in 2v8.

While she is nowhere near overpowered, people also seem to underestimate her. She is not the worst killer in the game, she just has a high skill ceiling.

I like to correct you on one thing…the issue isn't that she has a high skill ceiling, it's the fact she has a high skill floor with little reward. There are killers in this game that have a high skill ceiling but a decent skill floor where anyone can easily pick them up and learn them while also having fun with them and feel good about it. Take Wesker for exp, he has a mid-skill floor but also a high skill ceiling. Even then it isn't like she going to be the next nurse or something, at best if you can master her you most likely have a high b - low A tier killer on your hands.

Either way, Im disappointed bc I wanted to like this killer SO much but my games have been so rough and unfun…I starting to feel like it may not be worth my time to learn her bc its going to take so long to even get to her skill floor. That is why I say she has an issue, her skill floor needs to be brought down some. I know lot of ppl talk about a killer's skill ceiling a lot but that's not the only important thing, skill floor matters as well.

  • I wish I could say Im having fun with her but Im having the hardest time learning her power…ppl are saying her skill floor is high and I believe them. Im only using her perks since I wanted to achievement so its extra hard v.v I was hoping we may get a killer who was a nice pickup and play and not have to suffer for 50+ matches just to learn their basics. Guess I wait and see if I can find some videos with tips in a few weeks.

This, I'll just hop back on only for 2v8s basically. Since the people in 1v4 are complaining about queue times when the survivor bonus was only like 50% at most 90% of the time, I am assuming the vast majority of players seemed to prefer it.

It fixes basically all the complaints both sides normally throw out there. Wouldn't surprise me if they made 2v8 the default mode and 1v4 the competitive ranked mode.

What now? When was the BP bonus for survivors 50% 90% of the time? Whenever I log on the bonus is always in the 100s for Suvivor… What world are you living in? XD Sure I admit the 2v8 is popular but only with those who wanted to play killer…if it was as popular for Survivor as you and many others have claimed then why were killer queues always about 20min long? XD Btw I said this in a couple of other posts but 2v8 isn't some safe haven for casuals… it may seem like it is but given enough time it will get as sweaty and competitive as 1v4. Don't believe me? Look at other pvp games with "casual" modes they all eventually turn into sweatfests bc ppl who want to play to win or get easy wins will come in and make it competitive and beat up on ppl who are just playing for fun.

  • Nope…I cant even kill anyone as her let..Im having a really rough time with her v.v

  • @TWS001 said:

They aren't scared to make it permanent, they just don't want to destroy their own game.

A LOT of people enjoyed survivor for a very limited time. It has no variety, gets boring and samey extremely quickly and there's simply no way supply of survivors would keep up with the demand caused by killers. Then all queues are messed up again. Then there's no grind, the licensed fees for killers they've paid money to get can't be used and there would be no point spending money on auric cells. Would be an insane decision.

As for the argument of it being a casual mode. It wouldn't happen. Would be full of people sweating to stomp lobbies and just as bad as 1v4 for meta tactics. Was already happening often the last couple of days that killers would just cross map to the predictable cage spawns.

Every PvP game I can think of that tried "casual modes" has had the same result. Fifa tried it about 10 years ago with a no coin rewards mode with the idea it would be a chill game mode. It was full of people bronze benching (putting really low rated players on the bench) to bring down team ratings so they could use all the cheap meta players, sweaty meta tactics and destroying people playing casual. Was a complete mess and removed and never came back.

    This ^

Also I give another example of a PVP game that has "casual mode" OW2 quick play is filled with comp players playing matches like their rank is on the line. Always counter-swapping and using "meta" heroes to get easy wins on players who are there just to have fun and maybe learn a hero. There are even some arcade modes in ow2 that can get pretty sweaty. The fact is no matter what ppl will sweat in a pvp game bc they want to win even if winning doesn't reward them anything.

1v4 solo q is unplayable, doubt most survivors are happy to go back.

ppl acted like survivors were flocking to 2v8… if this were true we wouldn't had the killer queue issue… The reason why queue times for killers were 20min long in 2v8 was there weren't enough survivors…that is why the bp incentive was permanently on the whole two weeks on Suvivor bc they needed it to get survivors to play the mode XD The only group that actually liked 2v8 only really wanted to play killer…this why queue times was so bad.

  • I really wanted to like her but her skill floor is to high I feel for me to enjoy her. My matches last night was so unfun…it was like I was playing a killer with no power bc I was having a hard time using her dog to do anything. Honestly, I havent had a killer I enjoyed day one since xeno…I have struggle so much with Chucky, Unknown, Lich, Dark Lord, and now Houndmaster…Devs can we have a killer who can be pick up and play again… Im really disappointed and Im so happy I didnt buy the whole chapter and just used shards on her.

  • Oof I was afraid of that… I honestly hope we had a killer with a decent skill floor this time around. Last few killers I haven't been a fan of and was hoping hound master be fun to pick up and play. I try tomorrow since I wasn't in the mood to play tonight but I have seen a lot of ppl saying she still weak and needs more work.

I agree with you. That is precisely why I play 2v8. None of these things matter in that game mode. 1v4 is absolutely terrible balance wise. Solo Survivor gets his cheeks clapped while swf is dancing around just flying through the gens. The efficiency strategies mostly do not apply to 2v8 and even if they do people don't care/aren't bothered by them because it is just so fun/relaxing to play. The pressure is taken out of the game :) that is what a lot of people enjoy. A fun party game where you are chased by killers :,D

It may be true the 2v8 seems like some led back, chill, and chaotic mode for now but given enough time a meta will form and ppl will start playing more sweaty. That is just the nature of all pvp games and I think so many ppl need to come to terms with that reality. Every "casual" mode I've seen in a pvp game has always turned into a sweat-fest bc ppl like to win and to win you have to optimize. 2v8 isn't immune to this in fact I saw a meta form day one where killers ran the best combos and used strategies to win and the same for survivors, I saw them running the best classes and trying to compete gens as fast as they can. This is why I don't get why ppl say that 2v8 is some arcade mode where both survivors and killers are just goofing around…I say 70 to 80% of my survivor's matches (didn't play killer bc f those queue times) ppl on both sides were trying their hardest to win. Also, those who want to sweat and win no matter what will not always just stay in 1v4, they will come to 2v8 to get easy wins against players like you who just want to have fun. It happens in a lot of pvp games, look at quick play in ow2 as an example, a lot of comp players come to quick play to get easy wins against players and even use it to "warm up" bc they know they have an easier time against qp only players.

Guess my point here is don't think 2v8 will stay this magic chill place for you in dbd, it will eventually have a meta and ppl will start playing more and more sweaty and then you be back to square one. Not trying to be a downer just stating the reality of these things.

  • I know a lot of ppl say the 2v8 is the casual mode they always wanted in dbd but I think one thing many ppl overlook about 2v8 is the fact it has things that can and will lead to sweaty games. The mode isn't as chaotic as ppl are led to believe or want to believe, it only seems chaotic now bc it's new. If the mode wasn't limited and stayed for a few months I bet you that it would become just as sweaty and competitive as 1v4 has become bc gamers will always find a way to optimize everything and find a meta. In fact, I saw a meta forming the two weeks when I played 2v8 a little as a survivor, ppl always using the best killer combos(like blight and billy) and survivors using the best classes to get gen done faster. No matter what at the end of the day dbd is pvp game and ppl will always play to win bc winning feels good. Ppl even optimize games like Mario Party which is supposed to be ultimate party game so they can win. In fact, in the newest mario party Nintendo even added a "comp" rule set to remove a lot of rng from the game.

Honestly, I feel no matter what mode the devs make and put in the game you always going to see the mode turn into a sweaty mess. I know what most ppl will say "Well 2v8 is made for the casuals and ppl who want to sweat can go play 1v4" This isn't completely true bc we have seen other games' "casual" modes have turned into sweat-fests bc ppl who want to win comes in and try to get easy wins against ppl who just there to have fun. One example I have is OW2 quickplay, it is kinda supposed to be a more led-back casual way to play the core game of ow and a place to learn heroes BUT comp players have come in over and over and made just as sweaty as comp.

I guess my point is that I see this whole thing as a winless battle. No matter what the mode is ppl will always try to optimize it and create a meta.

Hellfire was fine. Its already handicapped by high obstacles, had a long cooldown and its the only thing Dracula has in Vampire form. Keep in mind other forms have both M2 and passives, but Vampire form only has the M2 with no special passives.

The hitbox its also tight and you can pretty much bait it and dodge like any other ranged attack.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3845883#Comment_3845883

So…what was the point on the feedback outside the new killer in the PTB feedback section..?

Dracula Wolf changes are missing the point, honestly. Wolf form was marketed as Dracula's tracking tool, and it does terrible tracking. Most of the track is inside the chase where you don't need it. Outside the chase the orbs dont drop if survivor dont move or just walk, so the Wolf form ends being just another chase tool and even worse than Vampire.

The changes (small CD reduction in Pounce charge time and the 1 second faster orb rate) will not help on this. Pounce will still be incredibly hard to hit and easy to dodge, will still be worse than Hellfire as a chase tool and his tracking, while it should be the thing that makes Wolf form unique, will still be subpar.

You dont know how dispointed I was when I open the dev blog yetserday and saw nothing for the killers they touched in the ptb esp the dark lord. Im with you, whats the point of feedback when all they going to change is the new killer and that's it.

  • @sinkra said:

The only people who prefer 1v4 are killer mains who need a 60% kill rate and high mmr swfs. The devs are ignoring the vast majority of casuals who play this game if they don't make 2v8 permanent. It's a far superior gameplay experience.

No I prefer 1v4 bc I don't want to deal with a useless killer partners. The reason why I got DBD was bc I like having the ability to play a role by myself and not deal with a random teammate who most likely going to be useless and no pull their weight. The only killers who like 2v8 are killer mains who have a friend they can play with. Solo killer is miserable and not fun. As for survivors very few survivors actually like 2v8 , if survivors actually did enjoy it we wouldn't have queue time problems and there wouldn't be a permanent survivor BP incentive.

  • Omg thank God!!! I be running these every match now xD

  • Personally I still love playing 1v4 and still prefer over 2v8. My issues with 2v8 is I don't have fun playing with a killer teammate who I can't communicate with plus queue times. Like I don't play sweaty when I play dbd(honestly my goal every match is to get two kills) but I also don't want to be paired with someone who not pulling their weight either. That my experience with 2v8, getting a killer teammate who can't pull their weight and I end up doing everything. Just not fun…

  • Im excited for her but I am concern how easy she is to pick up. I'm personally enjoy killers who have a mid level skill floor. I don't really worry about a killer's skill ceiling bc I know I'll never get to it. I just want to have the ability to pick up the killer learn their power fairly quickly and have fun with them. The last few killers for me has been great disappointments. The last killer had actually fun learning was Xeno. Chucky I didn't like bc I don't care for dash killers, unknown I hated their bouncing orb mech and found it hard to use, lich was cool but was the start of muilt power killers which I hate, and dark Lord same reason for lich, he a muilt power killer who power just doesn't interest me. The only power dark lord has I like is wolf but it's so weak compared to his other tools. So yeah I'm dieing for a new killer to enjoy. It been so loy :<

That is where we differ…Im not here to convince anyone to change their mind. In my experience, you never will change ppl minds over video games or on a forum so I don't even try.

This might sound snarky, but serious question: why even post anything beyond 'I don't like 2v8 and hate where the que times end up'.

If you want to vent, go ahead, but BHVR has actual player count numbers which are going to mean far more than posts on the forum and the que times are extremely obvious. I try to avoid discussions on 'fun' because I do think it is something that can't really be discussed, but just seems like waste of time to even be posting on a discussion forum if that's all you want to convey.

You right that does sound snarky and yeah I'm not a idiot, I know my posts aren't going to change the devs choices. That said it's my right to voice my feelings about something I don't like and that's what I'm doing. If you or anyone else has a issue with that then you can add me to your ignore list and move on. The matter fact is I hate this mode bc it has greatly affected my enjoyment of the game, a game I have put 1000s of hours in, and spent well over $100s dollars on with buying every chapter and bunch of cosmetics. I shouldn't have to deal with 20 min queue just to play one single match on the role I enjoy more. I can somewhat stomach it for a week but we going for two weeks now and if this mode was made permanent then we looking at 20 min queues for months or even longer. If that happens I will have to uninstall the game bc I won't be able to play anymore after that.

Que times were completely fine for me. Almost instantly joined a lobby when queing as survivor and the longest I had to wait as killer was about 5 minutes. I preferred 2v8 to the 1v4 dread tbh. In 1v4, as survivor you're more likely to die and lose. Where as in 2v8, you're more likely to win (at least my exp). Killers have more control in 1v4 and survivors have more control in 2v8.

It feels a lot worse to have some noob on your team weighing everyone down when its a 1v4. 2v8 is a lot more forgiving and with the class loadouts, it allows people to pick up other teammate's slack where in a 1v4, its basically impossible.

Que times aside (I've only really seen that complaint, nothing else really) it was a good game mode and I do hope it comes back in the future. Just fix/add to it in each iteration.

Que times being a problem is not a valid reason to me to dismiss a game mode that is actually fun at its core concept.

Lucky you…meanwhile my killer queues have been 15 to 20 minutes. As for a noob weighing you down you still get that ALOT in 2v8 and now the killer has to deal with it. A few times I played killer I have had potato teammates who can't even get down half of the time and I have to help them. With these ppl, I have to do all the work and I might as well be playing 1v4. On the survivor end, I have ran in so many new players as well. Here I go with an example of my experience with the mode where this happened:

it was a match against a blight and DS, the DS chased me first at the start of the match. I ended up looping him for close to 3 to 5 minutes but during that time no gens was being worked on bc the blight was just running ppl over. I ended up going down finally and when I got cage to no surprise I was left there on 2nd stage and then finally someone got me when I was about to die, after that, I worked on gen for maybe 30sec till the blight found me and I went down quickly bc its a blight. Needless to say we lost that match and I didn't even have fun bc it was clear the DS was a new player so winning a chase against him didn't even feel good.

Lastly, queue times are a very good reason for anyone to dismiss a mode bc long queue times hurt the game.

I mean does anyone think dracula didnt need a bit of a nerf? The majority of the community views this as a good change, Dracula is still a very very strong killer.

The things is yes some parts of him needed nerfs like Bat but he also has parts of his kit that need buffs like wolf. This is the issue with these muiti power killers. Some parts of their kits are overturned while the other parts are underturned. In my opinion I don't mind the nerfs he got but the wolf buffs were not enough to make that power better or fun to use.

I know the queue times are unacceptable as they are with the 2v8 on right now. I get it 100%. But sadly it's a part of it. Look back then before MMR was introduced, which turned the game into a sweat feast. Before the MMR queue, it would take like 5 minutes before you could join a match, that was how it back then. But people still played the game, if people dealt with it back then as survivors for years, I'm sure people would deal with it for the meantime. And back then the survivor was the role that would take like 5 to 10 minutes to find a match. I still remember during nighttime how long it would take to find a match, pretty much after 8 PM it would take a while to join a match.

We not talking about a 5 minute wait here… I would love a 5-minute queue over a 20-minute queue right now!!! 5 min is nothing compared to what we have to deal with right now. Also, I played before MMR was in the game and I honestly don't ever remember queues being as bad as they are now with 2v8, if they had trusted me I would have uninstalled the game and never came back. Also, I say it again…2v8 is just as much of a sweat feast as 1v4… that just dbd now and it's time to come to terms with that. Believe it or not, the natural life span of a pvp game..gamers will always optimize the fun out of a pvp game no matter the mode.

For the release tomorrow the Live Changes will be as they were in the PTB - however, there will be space in the hotfixes that follow to make changes to those live balance adjustments. We need the feedback on them once they are live.

I know personally I like to see a few more buffs to Wolf as it still feels like his weakest form. That pretty much all I care about and like to see for the dark lord.

Chill some people are 2v8 mains. Some of us don't want to touch the 1v4 mode. And ironically they might benefit from the 2v8 mode since it's new player friendly. Think about it in this game you need 1000s of hours to get most of the perks unlocked now. With this mode if your new, you just buy and it play it at an even playing field, everyone has the same perks and whatnot. Hopefully they make it permanently with all the maps and all the killers, which it seems the most likely that this game mode will get implemented permanently. They extended which was surprising, so they got to be seeing some numbers that we are not.

Like Im fine with ppl just liking 2v8 and being 2v8 mains but the major issue with this mode that so many are overlooking is how it's affecting the game as a whole…You cant play Killer on either mode without having to wait up to 20 minutes in a queue. If queue times were normal then I or others wouldn't be on her complaining, we just be playing the mode of our choice and move on. Its the fact I havent been able to play killer for two weeks bc of the queue time Im so sore on this mode and kinda never want to see it again bc it affects my enjoyment of the game. Sure if it was permanently queue times may even out when ppl get tired of the mode but that could take months for that to happen and by then ppl like myself will most like uninstall the game and never come back. Going months with 20 min queues will damage the game in the long run.

This has been my exact experience and I just am not having fun with it this time around. I tried, I really did, but I'm not interested. I'm sorry, BHVR. Give me something more than this arcade mode, this IS NOT what I bought the game for.

Yeah same, I didn't buy dbd for this type of mod. I'd rather have chaos shuffer over this mode any day and it doesn't affect queue times as bad. I really like the comment you made about how ppl are acting like 2v8 is some bad relationship that think they can fix. Anytime I read someone's comment about how great 2v8 is all I think of is the meme of "I can fix him" No…no you can't…either way Im sorry you don't enjoy this mode as much as you did last time. I do think the first 2v8 was little better than this version since I have to admit I liked playing it when it first came out but I did get rather bored after a day or so of playing it. This time tho it been bad from the beginning.

    Let's start in the middle.

You can't convince me that 2v8 is any more wrost or sweaty than 1v4.

Well if you've already decided you can't be convinced, I'm not sure how helpful this is going to be on a discussion forum, but I'll do my best.

Survivors don't need a toolbox and a genrush build when they have guide.

Guide has pros and cons, especially depending on the killers you get. The most common reason I lose on the survivor side is the that too many of us are grouped up.

On the other hand in 1v4, if all you care about is winning, there's very few items you'd take on the survivor side. Best toolbox, medkit + syringe and charges, key with aura reading. There's a few other variations there, but there's clear superior items.

Also that so call catch up mechanic doesn't do anything. In fact it's one of the driving reasons why you do see more slugging bc killers are punished for doing their objective by making already fast gens even faster.

These two sentences don't work together. You say it doesn't work together, then say it works.

Every game I've seen killers try and slug excessively it has gone badly for them. Basekit unbreakable.

The catch up mechanic does its job pretty well, though it really needs to differentiate hook levels on the survivor side. Games that start one sided feel much more competitive than they do in 1v4.

    Onto chaos shuffle:

chaos shuffler is much more of a casual mode than 2v8

I didn't realize this was a 3 way competition between chaos shuffle, 2v8, and 1v4 for the casual crown.

Imo perks are more the issue than add-ons or offering. Toolboxes are only a issue because there perks that make them overpower and even refill them.

On the survivor side just take out toolbox and throw in medkit + syringe.

On the killer side I think a lot of the high powered addons really don't depend on what perks you get.

Here another thing that makes chaos shuffler better over 2v8, it doesn't affect queue times what so ever.

This is just a red herring unrelated to casual topic.

Im only to cover one part since the rest is meaningless to me.

"Well if you've already decided you can't be convinced, I'm not sure how helpful this is going to be on a discussion forum, but I'll do my best."

That is where we differ…Im not here to convince anyone to change their mind. In my experience, you never will change ppl minds over video games or on a forum so I don't even try. Im here to vent my feelings about a mode that ruins my experience of the game bc it makes queue times unreasonable. If you love 2v8 then more power to you and Im not going to try to change your mind on that but your enjoyment is taking away from my own bc I can't play the role I want to play. I do think ppl only find 2v8 fun bc it's new and it allows them to play with a friend but in my experience, it has been the worst mode I have played in dbd, light out is more fun imo than this mode. The mode is just as sweaty as normal, as a soloq killer you end up with bad teammates all the time, Survivor is boring bc there is nothing new to do other than do gens and heal ppl 2x as fast, and there are no mmr or matchmaking so you get SO many bad players(for a lot of matches I have died on my first cage bc no one would come to get me) and getting double team sucks esp when you have been doing well in the chase and you get punished with the other killer ambush you.

That all I am saying, my exp with the mode has been some of the worst gaming exp. I'd rather play comp ow and deal with toxic players telling me Im bad than play 2v8.

I have been mainly playing Survivor in the mode for the last two weeks(just to do the rift stuff) and I've seen so much sweat!

So what exactly 'sweat' is differs from person to person, but the reason I see 2v8 as more casual is:

    1: No perks / addons / offerings

    2: Mistakes aren't as costly

When I think of sweat, I think of a SWF running all 4 commodious toolboxes, choosing the map, and spreading out the hooks, with each person on the team having dedicated roles - or a killer running best possible addons and, again, choosing the map. I never think of sweat about what people do in the game, I expect people to play the game, but its taking advantage of those 'make them game easier for yourself' things that exist in 1v4.

You can't do that in 2v8. On the survivor side all of the classes have value and while I think a good team would definitely have more guides/medics, but its not nearly to the level of game breaking you can do in 1v4. On the killer side this might be a little more true, , but I still don't think it reaches 1v4 levels (there also seems to be more disagreement on what the best killer combos are).

The catch up mechanics and hooks getting spread via cages also means that a single mistake doesn't seem like it defines the game. One of the complaints about 1v4 is that the early game is so extremely important with a good / bad chase basically deciding the outcome. While early game of course matters, its not all defining.

I stated it before and I say it again the only reason why Im so against 2v8 is because it affects my enjoyment of the game.

That's of course fine, it just really isn't much that can discussed.

I hated DbD before 6.1. I played it a couple of times in its early forms and totally wrote it off. I, generally speaking, like the direction BHVR has taken the game. Yes there are definitely people who think they are on the wrong track, and one day BHVR might choose to go in a direction I dislike, but that's just the nature of live service games. The designer is trying to adapt to an ever changing player base, every player has the potential of being left out of those changes.

See I have a similar definition of sweat as you that why I think chaos shuffler is much more of a casual mode than 2v8. You don't have deal with meta builds on either side bc builds are completely random. Imo perks are more the issue than add-ons or offering. Toolboxes are only a issue because there perks that make them overpower and even refill them. Here another thing that makes chaos shuffler better over 2v8, it doesn't affect queue times what so ever. Queue times are the same for both modes when chaos shuffler is achieved something 2v8 still haven't been able to do. So if I don't feel like playing chaos shuffler I can play normal mode without having to wait 20mind for a match.

2v8 is totally more broken as well... Survivors don't need a toolbox and a genrush build when they have guide. You can't convince me that 2v8 is any more wrost or sweaty than 1v4. Also that so call catch up mechanic doesn't do anything. In fact it's one of the driving reasons why you do see more slugging bc killers are punished for doing their objective by making already fast gens even faster. That why you see only blight, billies and wraths in the mode as well bc the only way to keep up with the gens is to play a high mobility killer. As I said there is a meta in 2v8 and it's definitely not casual mode. Y'all are delusional if you think otherwise.

Honestly if normal DBD wouldn't be flawed or damaged to begin with players wouldn't play 2vs8 in such huge quantities for such a long time but just stick with normal dbd. So it doesn't do any more damage but just shows the damage that is already there. Many players have bad experiences in normal DBD be it constantly facing meta perks, getting toxic swf bully squads, camping tunneling slugging, map offerings etc. All of that does more or less not exist in 2vs8. Most people just prefer the arcade like fun playstyle that mode provides over the sweatfest that is normal dbd. That's why people queue for it.

See I don't understand where ppl are getting this idea that 2v8 is the "arcade" or "casual" mode of dbd. The times I played esp this time around, it's just as sweaty as normal dbd. In fact, you can say it's worse this time than last time with the buff survivor classes and blight and spirit being added to the killer roster. I have been mainly playing Survivor in the mode for the last two weeks(just to do the rift stuff) and I've seen so much sweat! On the killer side, I saw mainly the "meta" combo of blight & wrath or Blight & billy. I think I have seen one trapper and maybe two DSs this whole time. Then you have survivors who are running nothing but guide and medic and finishing all the gens in 6 to 8 mins. There is nothing casual about this mode, ppl are being just as competitive in this mode as in 1v4. Also, I've seen plenty of billies and blights slugging so you not getting away from that in this mode either.

Honestly, I think a lot of y'all are just blinded by the fact 2v8 is a new shiny toy or a bad lover you think you can fix. "2v8 is so abusive but I know I can fix it" That's what yall sound like to me. I stated it before and I say it again the only reason why Im so against 2v8 is because it affects my enjoyment of the game. I can't just ignore it and pretend it's not there bc it affects 1v4 SO much. To me 2v8 is not fun on either side, the survivor is boring, and getting the double team all the time is frustrating and not fun. Then your teammates who do nothing all match and will leave you to die in a cage. Then on the killer side, queue times are 20 min long, when you do get a match it most likely will only last 8 mins with you either completely stomping the survivors or survivors genrushing you(man that 20 min wait was SO worth it wasn't it), and as a survivor,r there is a high chance your teammate is potato will not help. For Killer it's only fun if you have a friend like most coop games but as someone like myself who solos this game and has no one this mode is crap. I honestly hope this mode never is made permanent bc I really think it will eventually kill dbd if it was.

I understand that queue times can be frustrating, and I feel the same way. However, it's ultimately up to the developers to decide whether to bring the mode back or extend it, not the players. People can request an extension, but the final decision rests with BHVR. They know that queue times have been long for killers, yet they still choose to extend it. It's annoying, but there's not much we can do about it.

Yeah, I know its the devs who decide whether to bring the mode back or extend it and that is the main reason why Im on here complaining about it and will continue to complain about 2v8 so the devs know there are ppl out there who can't play thier game bc of the long queue times. Sure I could play Survivor and I do but I cant play more than 2 or 3 games of survivor before I get bored. I rather play 10 games as tank in ow2(a role I ######### hate) over playing 5 or more games of Survivor in dbd.

What got me really ticked off is devs silence this time around. They havent said anything about queue times being long or show any signs of trying to somewhat the fix them like they did the first time. The BP incentive has been rather low compared to last time.

“I think if you enjoy 2v8, you actually don't like DBD at all, and maybe it's time to move on to another game.”

So if you like the game you hate the game….what?

No what I'm saying is 2v8 isn't DBD, at least not to me. I see so many say they don't like 1v4 but that is DBD so if you don't like 1v4 in my mind you don't like DBD and probably should find another game. 2v8 in my opinion will do more harm than good in the long run. It spitting the community even more (this community already has a huge US vs them issue) and addin another mode especially one that affects the normal mode will cause even more us vs them arguments. On the topic of affecting normal DBD, 2v8 has had a huge negative impact on 1v4 in from of long killer queue times. A lot of us can't even play the role we enjoy the most because queue times are miserable for both modes and I don't think anything will fix it. I just think 2v8 should be it's own game for those who hate normal DBD, that way both sides can be happy. You have your game you enjoy the most and I have mine with better queue times. It's either that or keep the mode as a very limited event where it only shows up every couple months and only last a week.

I really dislike 2v8 matches, and I also find the long queue times frustrating. Since this mode returned, I've been playing much less. However, I won't be upset with those who enjoy it—that seems unreasonable. It's important to remember that it works both ways; no one should be upset with those of us who don't enjoy the mode either.

I won't say Im upset with those who enjoy it…more Im flustered with the fact that their enjoyment takes away my own enjoyment. I said it plenty of times on here that I wouldn't care as much if the queue times were just in 2v8 but the mode affects normal 1v4 queues as well. That's why Im not happy and a little ticked off…the 2v8 enjoyers had the mode for two weeks now…its time to go back to normal dbd, the dbd I spent money on.

You could always just play survivor and get 3-4 games in that 1 killer queue time and get more BP.

I have been playing Survivor but guess what…I don't have fun playing Survivor off and on. It ok for one or two matches but I get bored of seein the same two killers every time in 2v8 and 1v4 is just as boring to me. Killer is what I like playing the most…Honestly I rather just play overwatch for an hour than playing bunch of games as survivor.

It baffles me why people get upset when others dislike something they enjoy. You can still enjoy and play the mode, even if someone like me dislikes it. That's very immature, to be honest.

I don't like it bc it hinders me from playing the game…unlike some of yall I don't have the time to sit through 20 min queues just to play one killer match. If the mode didnt affect 1v4 I wouldnt care less it got extended but it does and it has kept me from playing my fav part of the game since it came out and now I have to wait even longer till I can play killer again.

  • @Shroompy said:

Ive noticed the queues become faster as time goes on, and thats exactly how queue times are fixed in this instance

If they keep it, the novelty will wear off and queues will eventually stabilize themselves.

I don't see that happening…in my exp, queue times have stayed long all throughout 2v8. On top of that, I don't see how the novelty wearing off will change anything. If the novelty of the mode wears off for killers it will as wear down for the already few survivors as well meaning queue times wouldn't really change all that much. I just think dbd as a whole can't handle a mode like 2v8 without severely hurting queue times for both 2v8 and 1v4. I think 2v8 either should be a very time-limited mode or its own game entirely.

  • well guess I wont be playing dbd…*boots up Overwatch instead* I be back eventually I guess :<

  • Like I get the mode is popular but to those who enjoy it so much, yall can't be so blind to the fact the mode is doing damage to the game right? Queue times are the main reason I haven't been able to play Killer at all doing this dumbass event and Im of the option no matter what the devs do the queue time problem isn't going to get fixed. Im with @SidneysBane1996 where I think if you enjoy 2v8, you actually don't like DBD at all, and maybe it's time to move on to another game. I also agree with them with the statement that if you want this mode permanent you are just selfish and actually don't care about the ppl who want to play the game with normally reasonable queue times. My question is to those who enjoy this mode why must I be punished when I can't even play the role I want to play while y'all having the time of your life? Some of us don't have hours and hours to wait through 10 to 20-minute queue times just to play a few games of Killer. Now they extended the mode means even more days where I can't play the game bc I can't deal with the long queue times and I cant play Survivor my whole play session without falling asleep.

Overall I do this this mode does damage to the game the longer it stays around. As others said I think the mode shouldn't be more than a bi-weekly or monthly weekend event at best. It shouldn't stay longer than a few days and shouldn't last for weeks.

  • Agreed!! I wouldn't care if we never see this mode again. Im sorry to the ppl who like it but after two of these, it's care to me that this popular of mode will only lead to hurting the game bc of queue times. There are just not enough survivors to supply all the killers who playing either mode. Just like there were not enough tanks for role queue 6v6 in OW1. If they do being this mode back I think the number of survivors should drop, maybe try 2v6 or something.

I don't think it'll ever subside. Im a firm believer that SM will always be hated by the community no matter what, even if the rework next year makes her the best design killer in dbd ppl will remember 3gen SM and hate her for it. Also let's not forget ppl hated her even when she was teased bc of how she looked and her lore, the 3gen stuff only made the flames of hatred hotter and blighter.

    Skill issue for sure.

Eh I wouldn't really call it a skill issue. I have had a lot of matches where I couldn't escape mainly because my teammates were just goofing around and not doing gen or being down by a blight or billy. Imo you can be the best survivor in the game but if the 7 other members on team aren't pulling their weight the killers going to win.

That said I will say the OP is wrong that 2v8 is killer sided. I would say it's pretty much just like 1v4, matches are heavy sided towards the side who wants to win the hardest and willing to sweat more. This mode infact makes those aspects of dbd and turn it up to 11. If killers want to win all they have to do is run the best combo of killers like blight and Billy and just mow down survivors in ease. If the survivors want to win all they have to do is run medic and guide and gen rush.

This why I refuse to call 2v8 "casual mode" There very much a meta that has form in the mode and there is quite lot of players who want to sweat their butts off to win.

I bet if they did a poll the vast majority of players would want 2v8 extended. It's only the small minority of 1v4 killer mains who want it to end.

So sorry some of us want our normal queue times back. Personally I wouldn't care less if this mode was extended if it didn't ruin the mode I enjoy playing but it does and that is why a lot of us who want it gone don't want to suffer another week or two. But hey enjoy your 20min queue times while the rest of us cant even enjoy the game bc we dont have alot of time at night to spent in queue.

1 2 3 4 … 9
