Medkits arent dead. I still heal myself 2 times per match.

I was going to say literally exactly the same thing

  • @Ἥφαιστος said:

Mine is obviously Legion. I can't stand with his basekit mend simulator.

Pinhead is #1 worst for me. I play solo queue so it’s a guaranteed miserable match and loss. Legion is definitely #2 worst, but at least beatable in solo q

I came back playing dbd and I just realized, after the medkit nerfs, that most of its addons are now useless. I mean some of them have been for a while now (surgical suture im looking at u).

But now every single “extra charge” addon is basically useless without the iridescent Gel Dressings, as any combination without it doesn’t add up for another full heal. I think it’s time bhvr stop with the lazy and overhaul this bs. It’s about time.

we get nerfs left and right for the most senseless things (billy im looking at u mu boy 🥲) and get very little improvement in exchange.

what are you guys thoughts? It doesn’t have to be the medkit addons only. What addons u think need overhauling?

Fast medkits with multiple heals was way too OP

    BHVR's matchmaker doesn't work.

This is the correct answer. There aren’t enough players at any given time for a given region to make fair matches without extremely long queue times.

Yeah? Most of my games look like this behavior. MOST OF THEM. It was a huntress too. Doesn’t make it better. I love this game so much that it just makes me want to commit a crime when I play it.

Everyone needs to remember that their own personal experience doesn’t extend to the entire community. I played some games yesterday after the patch and I found the results to be pretty typical to what they were before the patch.

On survivor (I play solo queue) I had some matches with good teammates and we had 3-4 escapes, and some matches with terrible teammates (some DCs) and everyone died.

On killer, I also had some good matches and some bad ones. Gens still get done incredibly quickly against coordinated teams and camping/tunneling seems to be the only way to apply pressure in those matches. I also had a match in The Game where I ate about 50 pallets and everyone escaped easily. I had some matches where one or more of the survivors weren’t very good and those were pretty easy wins.

As before the patch, it’s all over the place. If you’re getting destroyed consistently playing either side, then maybe take a look at the way you’re playing the game.

do you agree that this nerf is very unbalanced between killers and survivors?

with the nerf of dead hard and circle of healing making the rhythm of the game very unbalanced, let's take the example of the shape with its ult where one hit it immediately dies

especially with the addition of the red add ons which makes the ultimate never run out until the game is over and can even do memento even the survivors haven't been hit even once. Is the behavior crazy enough to change the rhythm of the game like this?

we take the example again with the killers that make it difficult for players like the pig. trappers or even killers who use stacks like xenobites. killer basically has been designed to be overpowered with all its abilities but it's a bit slow in movement but there are also some killers that are designed to run fast like legion and the blight for this update I feel very disappointed because of the imbalance in the strength of survivors and killers I hope behavior hears the complaints of the players. how many more times do you want to make a rhythm game like this? I'm not a new player I touch Iridescent rank every month and my account level is already level 500 I understand how to play but this update makes me disappointed

No, I don’t agree. Having DH activate nearly any time I would hit an injured survivor has cost me countless matches over the years. One perk should not be that impactful when so many other perks in the game are useless trash. The game needed a meta shakeup and it’s already looking like that is happening. There should be no “must-equip” perks for either side, and up until now DH has been just that for a lot of survivor players.

I honestly didn’t find CoH that troublesome. It wasted quite a bit of survivor time, and when I knew it was activated, I just made sure to commit to chases so that the survivor wouldn’t be able to get a free heal. I really didn’t think CoH urgently needed to be nerfed like DH did, but whatever.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

@Mandy is there any news on whether or not a frame-rate limit option will be added into the game's settings menu?

😂 I wouldn’t count on it. We’ve been asking for basic graphics settings for years and we’ve gotten nothing

  • Agree - this is a super awesome change

  • @EmmaFrostyEyes said:

Im not advocating for it to be nerfed. Lithe has been my main exhaustion perk since 2021. Used it over sprint burst and old dead hard. Now its gonna be used more and i have already seen people complaining about the perk. So when are the gonna nerf it? Im gonna miss it being under the radar

Lithe has so many more conditions for being super strong. Even if you make it to a window, no guarantee it will extend the chase much if there’s not another safe loop close by. DH was a free health state on demand that was always useful no matter where in the map you were and was rightfully nerfed

  • No more “press E to outplay” EZ wins

  • Wouldn’t be a new patch without significant bugs!

  • @burt0r said:

Because many survivor mains or declared "killer mains" adviced to do that to "easily" bait it out?

Haha right? I was going to say the same thing. I’ve been told many times that it’s super easy to bait out DH and that it’s totally not a free health state

  • @Nazzzak said:

I don't, and ultimately you do you. But be aware that easy tactics to gain kills can be detrimental. The game is designed to give you more challenging opponents as you progress. More kills means MMR increases, and you may find that you're suddenly getting games where the first person you try to tunnel will loop you for multiple gens and suddenly that strategy may not seem so strong afterall. It may pay off now, but just something to be aware of!

We all know MMR doesn’t mean anything in terms of fair matchmaking

  • @ironblade said:

I have a hard time playing Legion in huge maps but in small maps, it's easier to use Legion's power. What's your take?

“Boring AF to going against” is the correct answer. Terrible killer design unless you enjoy 45-minute mend simulator matches.

  • @saym said:

I agree with you. I really don't understand why BHVR doesn't let MMR work. And I don't understand why they don't show the player's skill rating. As a first step, you should show the player's skill rating. That way users will give us feedback on the current DBD MMR and BHVR will know what to do.

It doesn’t work because queue times would be way too long and nobody would play.

I wish BHVR would just come out and be honest about the fact that there just aren’t big enough player pools in each region to have a functioning matchmaking system. It’s extremely obvious to anyone who plays the game that the SBMM system doesn’t work. I would respect them more if they were just honest about it rather than trying to tell us how it is supposed to work, even though everyone knows it never actually works that way in real life.

  • the only explanation is that this is not a bug at all, but in fact a secret super-buff for killers. Thank you BHVR for finally listening!

    /s

  • The most infuriating thing about this is that BHVR haven’t even acknowledged this or provided and explanation to the community for why they refuse to kill switch it. If they don’t use the kill switch for stuff this bad, there is literally no reason for the kill switch to exist. I thought BHVR did a pretty good job listening to community feedback in the last couple of updates, but they’ve gone back to giving the community a giant middle finger on this one and it’s inexplicable/inexcusable

  • @Unicorn said:

Just doing a quick little research on the communities opinion. (P.S. Hi everyone that remembers me, I missed you all! Its been a little while.)

I will go ahead and participate by saying Legion is my least favorite Killer to face. The mending simulator is a huge portion of it. Overall they are just so mediocre to me lore, design, and power-wise.

Pinhead because I usually play solo queue and he’s stupidly OP if you can’t communicate with your teammates to know who is going to the box.

Overall worst (for solo and SWF) would be Legion. Such a terrible killer design that encourages incredibly long and boring mend simulator matches.

  • @saym said:

I think BHVR should show the player's skill rating. And I have some reasons for that. Do you guys think they should show the player's skill rating?

Yea, they should, but it ain’t gonna happen. It would expose what many of already know: the matchmaking system is completely broken because it prioritizes queue times over fair matchmaking

  • I’ve been playing this game for a long time and I almost never see this happen. If the killer DC’s, it’s either after a few gens have popped without a hook or after a series of pallet stuns. I can remember maybe like one time where the killer DC’d at the very end of the game.

  • @maximo99ac said:

This thing should be top priority since year 1 and we are close to year 7 and playing againts a camping killers its still as boring as day one, please behaviour dont focus in things nobody ask like nerfs to billy and focus in the issues that the community has been complaining about since the game release, i could make a list for you because you clearly dont know what issues are those.

Honest questions for you 1) do you play killer at all; and 2) what are your proposed solutions to discourage/counter camping? I play each role about equally and yes it sucks when you get camped but as a survivor I would say a majority of my matches I do not get camped. As killer there are definitely times when camping if the right play, like it if you know for sure there are other survivors close to the hook

  • I’ve noticed more cheaters lately as well. I went months and months without seeing any, and now have seen a few just within the past month. I need to start recording my games now because apparently it’s our responsibility as players to find cheaters and deal with them 🙄

This comment having so many likes really shows why the game is in the state it is right now.

The funny thing is you could say the same to all the survivors that complains in this forum about "X killer is OP" and "9 of 10 times I get killed", right? Just "git gud" and stop blaming the game for not being skillful enough to win against any killer with any perks.

Also, "the current balance is pretty heavy on the killer side"? The game has being so survivor sided for so long that now it being "more fair" to killers while still being unbalanced is being "killer sided", apparently. The worst part is having to read this a week before the patch that's going to unbalance the game even more because survivor mains cried and review bombed the game comes out.

What’s the over/under on the number of likes for the comment coming from people who have never played killer?

  • @Volcz said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3399195#Comment_3399195

Most killer mains on this forum do exactly what you're doing right now. They blame the game, the balance, the perks, hacks/cheats, the quality of the survivors, everything but their own decisions and way they played. Their egos are inflated and when they lose, its full on copium and excuses.

There are actual good killers that win 9/10 of their matches. Even some notable streamers. Hexy for example, wins 99% of his matches, on a variety of killers. And the extremely rare times he loses, chat makes fun of him just b/c of how rare & unique it is. & he loves to go against SWFs that are good, b/c he loves the challenge and likes the sweats/people who are trying b/c thats exactly who he is and how he's gotten so good/comfortable with playing this game. I remember he lost 1 match in over 3 months and chat gave him hell for it, b/c it just doesn't happen often.

The thing is -- those types of players aren't on this forum b/c they have no reason to complain like all these others.

You can claim they are going against 'potato solo que' for only so long. That excuse again, doesn't hold up b/c if they are winning so often against these bad solo que players, often times 4King and 3King giving the final person hatch, their MMR would inevitably only go up and they'd start facing more competent survivors until they come across that 1 team that just blows them out of the water. Again, that RARELY ever happens, if ever.

Good killers don't need to make blanket excuses like this (what you're doing) in order to make themselves feel better. They aren't on the forums complaining about DH, survivors blasting out gens, etc because they have VERY good decision making in the moment. Go watch a Hexy stream if you really believe what you're saying to yourself. Its a farce, copium to the extreme and all it is. Complaining with a lot of other not-so-great killer mains on here is just bandwagoning with them and it might make you feel better since you're all complaining about the same things but the fact is, your egos are inflated and when you lose, you are the same types of people who blame everything but themselves. Self reflection evades most.

Good killer players actually exist and yes, they do win 90% or higher of their matches. Maybe you don't, but they do. Your experience does not equal theirs.

Yeah, ok - great for those killers! Yet again someone is citing a world-leading pro streamer as an example of a typical “good killer” and anyone who doesn’t live up to that level of performance and comes on to the forums to complain just needs to “git gud”. Well done. You and others who echo your position are doing a great job of making my point for me. You’re defining “good killers” as winning (I assume that means 3/4K) nearly all their matches. Go look at any kill rate stats that have been posted by BHVR in the past and you will see that this number of “good killers” (based on your own definition) as a percentage of the total killer player base is very small. So you’re pointing out exactly what I’m trying to argue - that’s it’s very difficult and rare for killers to consistently win.

By the way, I’m really looking forward to the “git gud” crowd to start posting some of their gameplay so they can show us how easy it is to dominate every single match, even against good SWF teams!

  • @Hunkulese said:

Anyone playing Killer, who has good skills, should be able to pick ANY killer, equip ANY 4 perks (vs 17 survivor perks (BT basekit) plus potentially an additional 4 items & 8 addons) and get 2 kills every single time against GOOD survivors. Login, play killer, play well, and “win” with a 2K every time. 0K and 4K should be rare outliers.

If you're a good killer, it's really easy to 4K in 90% of your games with any killer. If you're a Twins main and any good, it's even easier. Stop blaming the game and focus on improving. The current balance is pretty heavy on the killer side except at the absolute highest levels.

This is so false and everyone who plays killer knows it. 4K is easy against potato solo queue and that’s it. Competent solo queues will give you a tough match and competent SWF will destroy you.

How do I know this? I play survivor about 50% of the time (solo queue). I would consider myself an OK survivor. my solo queue teams do not all die in 90% of my matches, not even close. So if my not-great solo queue teams can win let’s say 30-40% of our matches, how in the hell are killers getting 4K across ALL matches 90% of the time? The answer is simple - they aren’t

  • It’s a bug. The devs know about it, but for some reason refuse to kill switch it. I made a previous comment about this that wasn’t very nice and it got taken down (rightfully so), but the devs definitely deserve criticism for this. Either kill switch it or explain why they can’t/won’t kill switch it. To completely ignore the issue altogether is inexcusable

  • This is what I’ve found based on my experience playing both sides:

the game is stupidly easy for competent SWF teams

the game is relatively balanced when it’s a good solo queue team against a good killer

the game is stupidly easy for killer against potato solo queue

  • Does anyone even play Hag? I haven’t seen a Hag in several months, at least

  • @shalo said:

I had a game last evening as Sadako with 2 DCs the moment they saw me (so what else is new), when I saw the other 2 Survivors they crouched politely so I'm like, ok, you can go. I went afk to grab a drink while they did gens and left but .... I come back to find 1 gen left and them milling about together doing nothing.

So, I'm supposed to do what?

i usually try to kill all but one of the remaining survivors as quickly as possible and give last one hatch so everyone can move on to the next game as quickly as possible

  • This has been obvious for a long time. Often times there is a huge deficit of killer players, so to prevent queue times from being excessively long for survivors, killers will get matched with the next team in line regardless of MMR scores. This is especially true during peaks times when there are way more survivors playing with their friends. Best chance for decent matchmaking is during off-peak times if you’re able to play then

  • This is not a biased post in any way whatsoever

  • @Reddy said:

I have played this game over a week now with my friend, playing for about 5 hours a day.. and to be honest.. I haven't stumbled upon the Skull Merchant even once. Like I am not even exaggerating, I honestly haven't seen the killer yet.

Do people not buy it, not play it, or.. what's up? I remember when we played on Wesker DLC, I didn't see any other killer than Wesker for like a week, and almost no other map than RPD :D What is thisss

I was just thinking yesterday that I haven’t seen Skull Merchant in a while, and I’m ok with that. Super boring to be in hour-long 3-gen standoffs.

  • @Gore2424 said:

I honestly don’t know the last time I played against anything other than flashlight spamming SWFs. Literally not one game as far back as I can remember. Past couple months at least. I have to run every toxic perk in the book just to stand a chance. And when I do get the upper hand I play as hateful as possible.

I want them to hate playing this game as much as I do. I used to run all sorts of fun builds on different killers and be excited for new content.

none of that matters anymore it’s all about just scraping by on what little you can pry from the SWFs. I straight up quit half my games at this point cus it’s just not even worth wasting my free time on.

I don’t know what the root cause of this is and at this point I honestly don’t care, I hope this game will hurry up and die so a better alternative has a chance to pick up some of the legendary IPs it’s wasting. Pyramid Head and Ghostface, wasted on an unplayable game.

sad part is I don’t think it’s even the developers fault. It’s the people, toxic SWFs just logging on to ruin everyone’s day and the game, they can’t just nerf survivors because the few actual players left would suffer tremendously. It’s a lose lose for everyone involved.

before anybody replies with “skill issue” or something, the streamers are talking about it too, Otz even struggles against the crap SWFs are pulling and KING WOLFE just said F it and went full toxic. Games over man.

I’ve had frustrating matches like this, and here’s how I’ve dealt with it:

    1. If you can, play during off-peak hours when there are far fewer SWF bully squads.
    2. Lobby dodge. Some people will argue that this is cheap or the easy way out, but it’s literally the only way to (possibly) avoid playing against SWF bully squads. There is a fundamental balance problem with the game that BHVR is unwilling to address because they know they’ll lose a lot of SWF players if they do. The devs won’t nerf SWF and they won’t fix the SBMM system to make high-level SWF teams wait longer for an equally high level killer player, so the only solution to is take things into your own hands to possibly avoid an unfair match.
    3. If you are forced into a match with a SWF bully squad, either play as scummy as possible (it’s super fun to watch them DC when they realize they can’t bully you) or if that doesn’t seem to work then let them play gen simulator and kindly open the exit gates for them
  • As other commenters have said, there’s not much you can do against coordinated teams of good survivors. The math just doesn’t work in your favor for how long it takes to find, chase and down a survivor vs how long it takes for an efficient SWF team to complete the gens, especially if they have repair speed perks and toolboxes. If you “play fair” and spread hooks, you’ll get maybe 5-6 hooks if you’re really lucky and then you get to watch everyone t-bag you at the exit gates before you have to chase them out to force the game to end.

Don’t feel bad about camping and tunneling to get the game to a 3v1 as quickly as possible. It’s really the only way to deal with a good SWF team. Often times, the team will all get off gens to try to keep their teammate from dying and that is huge for slowing down the game in the killer’s favor.

While this is not everything that i would hope.

I have to thank bhvr for listening to the feedback of the community and improving the update.

This update feels much more hopeful and much more balanced.

I agree. This is the first time in a while it feels like BHVR listened to the community for the original PTB and then the adjustments that were made after PTB. The only people who seem to be upset are survivor players who relied on DH to carry them in matches.

  • I don’t main Billy anymore, but I did when I first started playing the game. All the devs need to do is revert him back exactly to the way he was before his original nerfs, and adjust his instasaw addons to make him less powerful or even just replace those two specific addons. Everything else about him was perfectly fine. I’m pretty happy overall with the recent changes to both sides, but the devs’ insistence on continuing to mess with Billy is super annoying. Nobody is complaining about him (other than killers who just want old Billy back) and almost nobody plays him. Please use your resources on addressing the killers that are still too powerful (Blight, Nurse) and too weak (about half of the killer lineup), revert back to old Hillbilly and leave him alone after that!

  • @verysleepy said:

Yet another part of the problem in balancing, is the fact that survivors, very frequently, spawn literally ontop of their objective. This is absolute madness.... How does this still happen?

Imagine if killer spawned ontop of a survivor or near them, the uproar would be insane... Yet it's ok for 3-4 survivors to literally spawn next to 3-4 gens, VERY frequently?

Im playing survivor ATM until the midchapter and nearly every game my reaction is the same... Oh spawn ontop of a gen, damn that was hard...

There needs to be a code put in that places each survivor minimum x distance from their objective so they have to actually run to it, while also calculating killer to be minimum x distance.

Why does the killer spawn lightyears from his objective but survivors ontop of theirs in a game that already has insane gen speed and a killer needs 12 hooks while not accounting for looping etc.

Survivors can easily spawn, ontop of, or within 5 seconds of a gen, and alot of the time 4 are all on separate gens within seconds. This is a huge imbalance that I don't see brought up enough.

No survivor can deny the laughing stock of spawning on gens being so common and frankly rediculous tbh. If anything, the offering to allow survivors to all spawn ontop of eachother should be given to killer and would instantly become meta.

I'm a 4k plus hour killer main and obviously noticed this with lethal pursuer, however I decided to stop being frustrated and play easymode for a while, but couldn't help but shout-out nearly every game "what the ######### may aswell start me holding M1 at this rate" with how easy my objective was handed to me ....

“Can’t spawn near a gen” and “can’t spawn near the killer” doesn’t give a whole lot of options for spawn points…

  • @jamally093 said:

I mean most of the time the killer won't bother going there so what's the point? I hate it as survivor because I feel bad the killer has to deal with that and as killer I just find it pointless once end game starts I never go near the exit gates I just start breaking pallets and walls or I just go to the corner and go AFK while the timer runs out.

Because most of the people who play this game are kids with underdeveloped brains who don’t understand (or don’t care) about the impact their actions have on other people.

I can understand t bagging if the killer intentionally played in a super unfun way like hard facecamping or hard tunneling someone. But if the survivor is t bagging just to celebrate a win and rub in the killer’s face, they’re just being an immature a-hole

  • with the changes that were made to bloodweb, prestiging and role incentives, I don’t think bloodpoints are an issue anymore (they certainly haven’t been for me). I usually have more bloodpoints than I need and the only thing I do with them is level up survivors which feels kind of pointless to me. I guess I can see how the codes would be helpful for new players who are trying to level up and gets more items/addons/perks for their characters, but if you’ve been playing for a while, chances are you don’t really need the extra BP

  • i agree nerfing altruistic healing was idiotic. Nobody was complaining about altruistic healing. It has only been medkits and CoH that have been frequently brought up as problematic by the community. I don’t want to crap on the devs yet for another change that nobody asked for, so I really hope they reconsider this before the next patch goes live.

  • @Seraphor said:

I admit I tend to bias slightly towards killer, but generally I have a fairly balanced view, and have been accused of being a Survivor Main™ on many occasions.

That said, I notice a significant difference in the attitudes of those who do seem to identify as a Survivor/Killer Main™...

Killers mains after killer nerfs: "Oh well, guess we put up with the same ######### for another 3-4 months. Game is survivor sided as always."

Survivor mains after survivor nerfs: REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE *throws tantrum* "I'M QUITTING FOR REAL THIS TIME"

This is why it took 6 years for BHVR to touch Dead Hard. They knew how much it would blow up when survivor players had their favorite crutch perk nerfed and could no longer have the consistent GG EZ matches they have enjoyed forever, COMPLETELY IGNORING the fact that maybe the other side doesn’t enjoy losing those GG EZ matches time after time after time.

  • It’s pretty obvious that a lot of the whining is coming from players who have no experience playing one side or the other. People who only play killer have no idea how much it sucks to go against repeated camping, tunneling, and hour-long 3-gen standoffs, while people who only play survivor have no idea how much it sucks to go against a coordinated SWF with four Dead Hards on a broken map with safe loop after safe loop strung closely together.

You have zero right to whine unless you have put yourself in the other side’s shoes and maybe you shouldn’t post about killer vs survivor topics like this until you have.

  • @Xendritch said:

CoH needed a slight nerf sure but this the nerf to itself and healing general it pretty much got completely demolished. If that goes through is it safe to say BHVR has given up on boons entirely? Shadowstep is the only decent one but I can't imagine anyone bringing just shadowstep, you'd only run it if you were already running CoH and it was a nice bonus.

I wouldn't surprised if people stopped bringing boons entirely which kinda sucks that an entire mechanic is being scrapped.

Agree - boons are dead, along with hexes. CoH was the only boon worth running and is now pretty useless.

  • The tone of the OPs post is confirmation that the changes were pretty darn good. No more GG EZ games due to broken perks.

  • I’m happy about the DH nerf but all this post does is inflame the us vs them toxicity that plagues this game. I hope it gets deleted by the mods

Update - I see it already got edited by a mod

  • Just got done reading through all the changes and this is the first time in a long time (if ever) that I feel like the devs really took community feedback into consideration for prioritizing what to change and how to change it. Nothing will make everyone happy, but these changes feel to me like a really good compromise overall for both sides and will address a lot of the common frustrations from both sides. Well done, BHVR!

Lmao... the queue times don't mean anything in this game because after 30 sec or so MMR gives up trying to match players on skill and instead puts people of vastly different skill levels in the same lobby, leading to a stomp.

So basically, the queues won't increase, but expect match quality to decrease (although I have a hard time seeing how it could be worse than what it is now).

This is the best response so far to the “queue times will increase to 20 minutes” type of hysterical responses. Even during peaks times when there are way more survivors players than killer players, queue times (at least in my region) are shorter than they have ever been because as you said the matchmaking system basically gives up after about 30 seconds and just throws in whoever has been waiting the longest regardless of MMR scores

  • They just don’t play the game enough to understand problems that they are creating when they make changes. BHVR could easily recruit a group of volunteers that actually play the game and would happily test out changes for free. I guess they might have to worry about leaks but I don’t see why some things like minor map design changes would be something to worry about leaking.

Also, we have the PTBs which should catch these issues but for some reason a lot of broken things from PTBs get incorporated into the live game

  • 1) limiting how many of a certain perk the team can use;

    2) making gens take slightly longer based on difference between SWF team’s MMR or win rate and killer MMR score/win rate

1 2 3 4 5 6 … 30
