  • I don’t really care about BP but I would definitely like to see an XP bonus for going against SWF. It would at least make me feel a little better about being a punching bag for someone else’s enjoyment.

Man killer mains ######### up. Complaining so hard about DH. Now literally every surv is running lithe, SB or balanced landing and it is annoying af.

You know what I liked about DH? You could counter it, SO easily. You can't counter any of these other exhaustion perks and it is driving me up the wall.

Whereas with DH once I figured out who had it, it was the easiest perk in the world to counter. And now I've got uncounterable speed boosts in practically every chase. Love it.

for me, killer feels much more enjoyable to play now that it’s not an automatic 4 DH’s every match. I don’t mind SB or Lithe at all

    This take is legitimately asinine.

Some people live out in the countryside in the middle of nowhere. Some people only have one internet provider to choose from.

You can't just suggest they stop playing online games because of a bad connection.

How is it asinine to suggest that somebody not ruin the online gaming experience for everyone they play with? “Let’s make a lot of people miserable so one person can have fun” is not something I can get behind. This is like defending the person who brings their crying baby to a movie because they can’t find a babysitter. In these scenarios the individual person needs to make a sacrifice so they don’t ruin things for everyone else. I use the term “sacrifice” very loosely here. It’s not like we are depriving these people of basic human needs.

By the way, nobody is suggesting this person shouldn’t play online games. They should stick to games where losing connection doesn’t have a negative impact on the other players, which applies to plenty of games out there.

  • This add-on is 100% broken. The devs know it, but I suspect they want to keep it in the game because it makes people actually want to buy and play as Myers. Let’s just completely ignore how miserable it is to go against as survivor.

  • This is called “the mathematical impossibility of winning a game against a coordinated SWF team.”

There’s nothing you can do except hard tunnel and camp. Get that first kill and then maybe if you’re lucky you’ll get a 2nd. Sometimes the survivors will be overly altruistic to try to save their friend and you can snowball the pressure.

Of course we’ll get a bunch of snarky comments from people who are too scared to play killer telling us to “git gud”. I welcome them to post their videos to show us how to get EZ wins against good SWF teams.

  • I’m not a great survivor and I love going against Demo. He has plenty of counters. Destroy his portals and he can’t teleport - it’s pretty simple. His special attack is probably one of the easier killer attacks to dodge. Honestly I wish I went against him more often because almost nobody plays him anymore.

All in the title really. For more detail this game is amazingly unpleasant for new players. New survivors are in for constant rounds of dying all because they cant make a chase last longer than 30 seconds. And be realistic, how many gamers are going to watch youtube vids and spend hours and hours practicing and getting hooked just to bump their escape percentage from 15 to maybe 25 percent at best.

Versus the killer side where your first 100 games are absolute walkovers until you hit higher mmr and start getting ######### on by bully squads.

I've picked it up and tolerated it for maybe 30 days of play time since August. My regular swf won't play anymore because of toxic killers plus the difficulty curve and I can't get any one of my friends into the game, either they refuse to try it because it has a reputation for being particularly awful for new players, or get 20 hours in and give up because they just constantly die. State pf play atm isn't much fun. My surv games are just constant deaths and killer games flip flop between absolute walk overs that are extremely boring when I use a killer I'm good with and a sweaty build, and tedious impossible to win games when I use mechanically weak killers for daily rituals. Maybe 10% of my killer games actually feel chsllenging yet attainable.

We've had surv nerfs that do even more to cripple solo q and have really done nothing tangible to actually nerf SWFs. Whilst the killer nerfs make it even easier for high level swfs to genrush. Like give us something that helps low/mid mmr. A proper tutorial that gives survs an idea on how to run a proper chase, a way to train against killer bots so survs can see how dlc killer powers work without buying them, voice chat for survs rolling handicaps depending on how the match progress (looking at gen progress versus hook states and death) fix the exit gate spawns so last surv has a slight chance of escaping if hatch is closed.

I’ve been playing for a long time but I still remember what it was like being a new player. I would get downed almost immediately every game. I watched a lot of YouTube videos and practiced my own skills in the game and eventually I got better. After 1,400 hours I’m still not great but way better than I used to be and now feel very confident that I can last long enough in a chase to buy my team plenty of time to work in gens.

It just takes time and practice, like pretty much every other game. I don’t know of any other game where you can just jump in and be a really good player, so I’m not sure what people’s expectations are.

    SkyBilly and SkyDemo

Seriously, they didn't give an advantage to the killer they were just plain fun - and most times when you did pull it off the survivors loved it too!

Agree with this. Removing fun (and harmless) stuff like this from the game like this was just dumb

Overall I think most changes have helped the game go in a more positive direction but there are some changes that haven't really been that great. What are some old things you would like to have return?

Some examples of this could be (not saying any of these should come back):

    Old freddy

    Old hatches

    Old hillbilly

    Huntress's Old iri heads

    Hawkins map

    Old ruin

    Etc

Old Hillbilly is about the only thing that would be an improvement if brought back

Can we get some "Hey sorry about that guy, he likes to pull wings off of bugs and this is the healthiest outlift for his behaviors." points it would make the sting less painful for solo.

    Your Friend,

    Luthir Fontaine.

This seems like a poor way to go about providing feedback to the devs

I play survivor and killer equally. Killer has become much harder in my MMR.

People still heal really fast ( this was meant to be the slowdown to combat gen regression destruction ? )

It doesnt matter if I tunnel, or try to spread pressure. Gens are being done so fast I cant keep up.

If I hear a gen is 50% done, what am I meant to do? Are we actually meant to just let it get done?

If I go kick it, it does 2.5%, the survivor runs away and I chase them, another one gets right on it. Its lost like half a second progress. I go back, kick it again, survivors swap and vise verse. Then I have to just commit to one of them, and while I am the gen gets done.

Im feeling stuck as killer. I can only have fun on the top top tier killers now, and even those matches im literally sweating IRL. if theyre nerfed I think id be done as killer.

IMO this game is really losing its FUN factor. I am sweating in matches, but what for reason?

You’re supposed to start by not using high tier killer and no good add-ons. Give the first survivor a fun chase and eat at least 10 pallets before downing them. After hooking them, you have to immediately and as quickly as possible go to the furthest point on the map away from that survivor. Then you can start chasing someone else (and it cannot be the survivor you just hooked). Repeat this process until all the gens are done (making sure of course that you don’t hook someone for the 2nd time until everyone has been hooked first, but you won’t make it that far anyway). Once generators are done, if you hook someone, you need to go to a far-away corner of the map and hide until that person is unhooked and healed. Then, once the gates are open, you must present yourself to the survivors at the exit and quietly allow them to t-bag you for as long as they want.

Just asking, cuz I saw A LOT of people complain on Reddit that it’s more annoying then Dead Hard where you get the same distance as using DH and it’s ‘braindead holding W with speed’. You miss the old DH or are you more used to see Lithe and Sprint Burst every game?

I still use Dead Hard and it still gives me a lot of value! Does anyone else also still use Dead Hard?

Way better than 4 unlimited DH’s every single match

  • @Nos37 said:

Oh, that's right, because they favor survivors, so it's fine...

If the maps were this heavily killer sided they would've been killswitched a long time ago.

If you’re implying that the devs only killswitch things when it benefits survivors, I will kindly point out to you a counterexample with the recent Merciless Storm bug that the devs let go untouched for an awfully long time even though survivors were (rightfully) screaming to have it killswitched.

  • @LooeDbD said:

these perks just promote the hold w/ gain as much distance as possible playstyle which is just boring and uninteractive. I think these perks are just outdated in design and removing them would give the incentive to get good at looping and not win chases simply by holding forward. the meta right now is probably the most boring one yet. or maybe this game fell off for me idk

The only thing that was unhealthy for the game was unlimited 3rd health states for survivors. I’m fine with all the other exhaustion perks.

Dying Light, Insidious, Predator, Hangman's Trick, Claustrophobia, Distressing, Overwhelming Presence, Territorial Imperative, Bloodhound, Beast of Prey, Septic Touch, Unrelenting, Deathbound, Deerstalker, Stridor, Hysteria, Furtive Chase.

No Mither, This Is Not Happening, Tinkerer, Corrective Action, Low Profile, Diversion, Buckle Up, Calm Spirit, Up The Ante, Ace In A Hole, Premonition, Left Behind, Teamwork: Collective Stealth, Red Herring, Object of Obsession.

Why haven't they buffed these perks?

Doing all those re-works would take a lot of time and resources and probably wouldn’t lead to any additional revenue. Plenty of people still play the game even though a majority of the perks are mediocre to downright useless. So, no reason for BHVR to do it.

  • His insta-kill add-ons need to be nerfed into oblivion, and then everything else should be buffed.

  • There are a lot of people who talk about tunneling “ruining fun for survivors”, but few who acknowledge the frustration of playing killer and having all 5 gens pop by the time you get your 2nd hook because survivors all brought toolboxes and gen speed perks. That’s not much fun for the killer, who let’s not forget is also a human player trying to enjoy the game. I play both sides and I completely understand why some killers tunnel. Sometimes it’s the only thing you can do to secure a kill. If you can consistently get kills with zero tunneling, then great for you, but realize that not everyone is as skilled as you are and probably never will be. Let those players try to enjoy the game too.

Tbf you have probably been in more cheater matches than you realized. Subtle cheating is the scariest as they can just alter movement speeds by 1 or 2%

I’ve had a few matches where Nurses caught up with me while just walking around structures 🤨

  • @thrawn3054 said:

It feels like the past year has just made both sides more and more miserable. I can't really think of any changes that have happened lately that I've been excited for. Is it just me? Or do others feel the same.

Overall I’m pretty happy with the game. I still have fun in most of my matches. I still play it far more than any other game I own.

My main complaints are 1) devs sometimes don’t provide any response on game breaking issues (see recent Merciless Storm bug and refusal to kill switch or even explain why it wasn’t kill switched) and 2) game remains incredibly unbalanced on both the low MMR end (heavily favors killers) and on the high MMR end (heavily favors survivors). The are plenty of ways to build balance into the game, but I suspect BHVR won’t do it because they are afraid of losing their high level SWF players.

  • Don’t worry about learning how to 360. Rarely will it help you dodge a hit. I would focus a lot more heavily on learning how to properly run and mindgame the different types of loops and structures. If you can get really good a running loops, greeding pallets, and stringing loops together to the point where you can run a killer for 2-3 gens, that will be more than enough to help your teams win games.

  • Lost connections should be super rare if you have a halfway decent internet connection, which is why the first DC penalty of the day is only 45 seconds if I am remembering correctly.

It would be great to have a way to leave a match if there are cheaters but I can’t think of any way to practically make that work without being heavily abused.

  • @GannTM said:

I’ve lost all hope in BHVR with their map design lol.

Terrible map. Bad survivor perks. Miserable to face killer. Where was the great part?

As for the topic I have no expectations.

Agree with terrible map and killer. But bad survivor perks? Fogwise is amazing for a solo q player like me, and I think Potential Energyn is pretty good too. Super useful for helping to break 3-gens.

  • @Pulsar said:

Boons are pretty weak overall, I don't think they need nerfs.

Agree. Before the patch, the only boon that wasn’t garbage was Circle of Healing, and I honestly didn’t find it that oppressive in most of my killer matches. Most of the time it ended up being a big time waster for the survivors. And of course with the new patch, CoH has also been rendered useless, so now all boons are terrible and should never be picked over many other much better perks.

  • Myers is almost universally viewed as a bottom-tier killer. He only stomps survivors who don’t know how to counter him and avoid feeding him stalk points. However, he does have by far the most busted add-ons in the game and those need to be launched into outer space

Did I say the game is dying? I said player counts on Steam charts are declining and the lowest in 3 years (with exception of April 2022), which is an objective fact.

If Alien or Fnaf get revealed as the next chapter, numbers will jump straight up again. Next chapter is a biggie in regards to players hopes, expectations and satisfaction.

I agree that a great new chapter would bring in a large increase in players. But even so, I think a a lot of people are just getting burned out with the game as the mechanics have been stale for a long time. If modding isn’t going to happen, then new game modes of even some new game mechanics would help make it feel less stale.

As far as I remember, McLean, who designed Blight, tried to fix him before he left, but "failed to do so." <-- His words. I'm sure they can do it, but it's also going to take a lot of resources too. I wouldn't be surprised if they changed the environment more and collision in general before they mess with Blight.

Also are there any other killers you'd want to rework?

Peanits possted on September 16, 2022:

To clarify something here, the difference in escape rates for SWF groups can be as much as +/- 15%, but this is at the most extreme end of the spectrum. In reality, very few players are actually in this range. The distribution of people across all ratings is like a bell curve. Most people are somewhere near the middle, very few are on either end (high or low skill). The average SWF group, which makes up the vast majority of SWF groups, has little to no discernable difference compared to solo players (within a few %).

They purposely use qualitative language like “as much as” and “vast majority” because they don’t want to share the actual stats. All they need to do to prove that SWF isn’t busted AF is to share the data so we can all see it. But they never will and there’s a good reason for that.

  • I doubt BHVR will ever release those stats again. It’s just going to show how busted SWF is a higher MMR levels.

-"BHVR knows that if they do anything to nerf SWF that it will kill the game"

But what happens if nobody wants to play killer? This is probably the worst I have ever seen the game in terms of "fun to play" as killer.

Things were bad in 2016 but we had NOED which for at least a while was the complete equalizer because it lasted forever.

I play both sides and I strongly disagree. DH and healing just got nerfed. Killer feels a lot more manageable to play now than it used to, especially against solo queue even if they are good. SWF remains ridiculously unbalanced, especially when you throw in broken maps with 1,000 pallets and strong loops that spawn right next to each other. These are problematic with solo q too, but it becomes an unfair game when you throw in the perfect coordinator that SWF on comms have the advantage of

  • @NotAnotherDoctor said:

SWF is absolutely destroying this game for solo-queue.

It's still bad with killer too, but admittedly it's not as bad as it was before the update, but in the process, solo queue has been absolutely victimised.

I tried a few games solo queue to see what was going on and oh my god, RIP

BHVR knows that if they do anything to nerf SWF that it will kill the game. A lot of people play SWF because they enjoy playing with friends and it’s a lot easier to win or even bully the killer for laughs in some cases. If that consistent fun is diminished, a lot of SWF players will leave the game.

  • @Caiman said:

That seems pretty normal. A 25% escape rate in SoloQ isn't terrible. Understand that you're in a 4-man elimination game. Getting eliminated is normal. I feel survivor should be about putting in your best performance first and foremost. Sometimes you die and that's alright. Surviving isn't always within your own power, it often isn't. So long as you did generators, helped teammates, and got good chases in, then you're doing well.

I was going to say the same. Seems pretty typical. I’m not a great survivor player and I escape maybe 1/3 of my games at the very most. I don’t think survivors should feel entitled to escape much more frequently than that.

I imagine it’s very easy for good coordinated SWF teams to win most of their matches

Even 3 gens do not last long enough.

As always, the side that can abuse broken things use them and now all lobbies are full of BNP, toolboxes with addons, Resilience and Prove Thyself.

Every killers beside nurse and blight cannot do anything now against good players.

Not mentionning the base kit BT/SB that is now way too strong in the current META.

The killer cannot do anything :

    • gen regression ? doesn't work
    • slug ? doesn't work
    • 3 gens ? doesn't work

What I find offensive is when there are one or more DCs and the killer still sweats to kill the last survivor and doesn’t give them hatch. I know they aren’t obligated to do it, but they are still being kind of a d-bag

  • @stvnhthr said:

DBD has been stuck at about 65% kill rate for killers with them getting high score only 90% of the time. Hopefully this new patch is working for everyone else. I play survivor and in thirty plus games since update I have died every time and have yet to see 5 gens get done. That is 120 kills for the killer at least with zero escapes by anyone. It looks like it might be working as intended at making sure solo queue stays the most dismal playing experience on the planet.

I play solo q all the time and if my team is competent we usually have at least one escape, and 4 escapes is not uncommon. Your individual experience doesn’t mean that the game is tilted a certain way for everyone. If killer is so easy now, then maybe try playing killer instead?

  • @smartemarte said:

so are you going to nerf sprint burst?

Instead of an ability that could only be used when injured, had to be timed perfectly, half of the time didn't work because of the server lag even if you timed it correctly everyone I come up against now is just using sprint burst....

which literally can't be countered, is 100% guaranteed to work, requires 0 skill and has no draw backs.... I really struggle to understand why you changed dead hard to only work when being tunnelled because it's that unreliable that you just wouldn't pick it now over DS, Off the record etc.

I'd much go up against a survivor with DH and wait 0.5 seconds to bait it out like any good killer would instead of complaining it was overpowered...

like wise when I play survivor now I enjoyed using dead hard because it was extremely situational against a GOOD killer that didn't bait it out, now I have to wait until i'm hooked to get it for my second state so instead i'll just use one of the boring exhaust perks that are guaranteed to work from the match starting ....

Dead hard made you think about when you would use it where as the other exhaust perks are just switch your brain off dull.
